I’ll come down as unabashedly in favor, especially when it comes to the highly oxygenated emissions of Bellamy, one of the talented male singers the flagging genre still boasts … a Bono who’s got a few Pavarotti genes spliced into his DNA. Even if he does have to sing “Madness” — the greatest rock power ballad of the last 25 years — a half-step down from the record, his three-octave range is a marvel to aurally behold, at least if you aren’t holding any long-standing grudges against, like, passion. (He’s a guitar hero, too, not incidentally — the 19-second guitar solo in “Madness” sounded even better and more cranked-up than ever.) There is a kind of formula to Muse’s songs — not nearly all of them, but most of ’em that are “hits” — that involves a build from a moody, broody verse to a suspenseful, crescendoing pre-chorus to an explosive peak that is just about as much an aria as rock chorus. And then, rinse and repeat, twice! Over the course of a 22-song set like the one in L.A., you keep thinking Muse just shot their wad too early by placing the most dramatically satisfying song in the set too early, then you’re reminded that there are five more just as viscerally exciting coming down the pike, and they still haven’t remotely gotten to actual clock-punching peaks “Starlight” and “Knights of Cydonia.” In that way it’s a little bit like the “John Wick 4” of rock shows.
Also providing a break in the action, while ramping up the pomp and circumstance of the whole thing, were some FX-filled videos that offered some conceptual continuity to the concert, and offered visual teases of the giant props to come. The first of these segments had a rioter in a mask made up of mirrors being stricken down by a towering, strangely uniformed, horned figure representing The Man. A few songs into the show, the visage of the mirror-masked man appeared behind the band as the first giant inflatable of the night, his head moving slightly to the right or left. When it came time for the encore, he was replaced by his evil nemesis, the possibly “Fantasia”-inspired, horned authoritarian dude, with giant gloved hands outstretched on either side of the massive stage. Did his eyes glow in the dark at appropriate moments? Of course they did. It was, without a doubt, unbelievably cheesy. But you might not think so if you’re, like, Iron Maiden fan, and seeing this giant dude pop out on stage is as natural as seeing Eddie in your nightly dreams.
Accepting something as goofy as these giant inflatables means accepting Bellamy as a little bit of a contradiction at times. He’s the guy who can expound at length on the intricacies of changing global politics who also has no shame for ’80s horror movies and video games. (On this tour, they perform the recent song “You Make Me Feel Like Halloween,” an homage to John Carpenter and Stephen King, preceded by Bellamy sitting at an organ to knock out “Toccata and Fugue in D minor,” a piece so associated with old horror films it can only count as comedy anymore.) And he’s the guy who told Variety last year that, left to his own devices, he might write mostly beautiful music in more of an Enya vein, but also loves Rage Against the Machine so much that you can’t believe Muse’s headbanging side isn’t his first and final love. If you’re going to love part of what Muse does, you kind of take it all — the sense of life-and-death importance that’s implicit in most of their best songs, and the old-school showmanship that comes with that. It’s easier to take the whole shebang, of course, if you have any nostalgia for giant puppets of teachers who won’t leave them kids alone and that sort of thing, and don’t mind seeing the theatricality transposed into the present.
Really, though, for all of the videos and balloons, Muse’s is more of a straightforward rock show than those visual accoutrements might lead you to believe. I caught their promo show at the Wiltern last fall, the one with no props or special effects, just a big emphasis on their most aggro tracks — and didn’t think this return to their normal, full-size production would be as satisfying. Actually, it was, even the presence of a ramp meant Bellamy spent less time standing anywhere near the band’s great bass player, Christopher Tony Wolstenholme, or phenomenal drummer, Dominic Howard, as a visual power trio than usual. In some ways, despite the elaborate lighting and rigging, it felt like a return to ’70s arena shows that predated the onset of massive props and effects.
One of the most ironic things about it was how many of the bells and whistles of the show were downright primitive things that have historically delighted audiences. Very, very early in the show, long, colorful streamers were released. When was the last time you saw streamers in a concert? A few songs later, it was confetti. When was the last time you saw confetti? Well, probably a lot more recently than the streamers, but still . And from there, the band moved on to… a snow effect. No wonder Bellamy prefers to keep calling the venue Staples Center instead of Crypto: As digitally minded and forward-looking as a guy who spends part of the evening dressed in a suit of LED lights may be, he’s keeping alive the best aspects of the age of paper products.

Review: Muse and Evanescence make a dramatic pair in Minneapolis rock spectacle
The british headliners piled on the visual effects and dystopian themes again at target center..
By Chris Riemenschneider
The world is in decline. No one in power can be trusted. Love is all you need. Or a nifty light show and operatic rock music might do you some good, too.
That, in a nutshell, was the takeaway from Muse's ever-hi-fi performance Sunday night at Target Center. The arty but heavy British trio brought along the similarly metallic but tender Evanescence for a dramatic twofer — the rare hard-rock show where the audience of 10,000-plus featured almost as many women as men.
With its glitzy, elaborate visual and pyro production, Muse once again lived up to its reputation as a live band that's as close to a Cirque du Soleil show as it is to its musical touchstones such as Rush and Radiohead. Woe to the cleanup crew that had to deal with all the confetti and streamers Muse blew off in the arena.
The headliners mustered up musical fireworks here and there, too, but not with the consistency of their visual gadgetry.
Sunday's set list pulled heavily from Muse's new album, "Will of the People" — yep, another one laced with rise-up dystopian themes. The band started in right away with those, using the album's title track to kick off its nearly two-hour set.
"We need a revolution / So long as we stay free," frontman Matt Bellamy bellowed in the opener.
After many previous tours that followed a similar format, Sunday's set did not seem very revolutionary as far as Muse concerts go. It also felt weighed down in the middle with limper, more melodramatic midtempo songs such as "Thought Contagion" and "Verona." The latter new one off like some of Coldplay's syrupiest gushers.
Meanwhile, the ambient piano-drum montage "The 2nd Law: Isolated System" at midshow also felt like an overthought, lame excuse for the otherwise compelling drummer Dominic Howard to step out onto the long proscenium stage near the center of the arena.
As the band turned back to some of its most angsty and feisty songs near show's end, including "Uprising" and "Prelude," the music got back on track, and the crowd got back on its feet to rock along, which probably wasn't very safe at that point with all the slippery confetti on the ground.
A large number of fans got there early enough for Evanescence, which rewarded them near the start of its hourlong set with the hard-hitting 2006 hit "Call Me When You're Sober." The Arkansas-reared band then did a musical 180 as a grand piano rose up from under the stage, and its Tori-Amos-gone-Ronnie-James-Dio-like singer Amy Lee dramatically plunked out the group's power ballad "Lithium."
Like another band with a "Lithium" track, Nirvana, Lee's crew has fine-tuned the loud-quiet-loud formula over the years but maintained its metal underside. Recent songs such as "Wasted on You" and "Use My Voice" were some of the most potent examples — but so was the band's breakout hit from 20 years ago, "Bring Me to Life," a spectacular finale even without any of Muse's visual spectacle.

When it comes to Muse , evolution is paramount. From ethereal space-synth majesty to defiant industrial rebellion, the rockers rarely tread the same path twice - and the approach has proven to be a success, records reliably topping the UK charts for the last 20 years. 2022’s Will Of The People served as the group’s latest sonic foray, and the glam rock dystopia charmed fans worldwide.
While their ever-shifting sound may run the risk of alienating certain listeners, there is one thing that constantly lures fans back: Muse know how to put on a damn good show. There’s a reason the core trio have been packing out arenas for over two decades - they’re technically faultless, refusing to bulk out shows with dead air chatter and focusing on the music. And, considering the turnout at the AO Arena tonight, everybody knows they’re in for an evening of back-to-back bangers.
Nova Twins open up the evening in style, delivering a slew of forked-tongue alt rock anthems. Decked out in black and yellow DIY get ups, the punk duo prowl around the stage, fizzling with energy. As they back-bend their way through antagonising riffs, you can’t help but fall victim to their sharp charm.
The Twins’ snarling sound perfectly prepares the arena for the main event. In a blaze of flames, Muse kick things off of a theatrical high; donning silver masks, the group kick things off firmly rooted within the Will Of The People world, opening on the album’s battle-cry of a titular track.
As the track draws to a triumphant close, the masks are shed - and we’re immediately taken back in time. While that may be due to Absolution ’s Hysteria taking hold in honour of the record’s 20th anniversary, it’s also due to just how unchanging Muse are in themselves; the neon stage design glistens with a metallic sheen, tech-infused guitars and synthesiser gloves hinting at something wildly futuristic, yet Matt Bellamy still spikes up his hair with VO5 pomade. But, somehow, this is Muse’s charm. The fact that these guys are pretty normal blokes makes every beat, every bassline, hit even harder. Yes, Matt Bellamy hasn’t updated his wardrobe in 20 years - but he’s also gotten exponentially better at playing.
This is proven constantly by the dynamic musicality on display. Riff-driven fury feeds gorgeously into Butterflies & Hurricanes , seeing Bellamy take to the keys with a flourish. The piano-driven odyssey is met with awe and, rather than being a softer moment of refuge, the crowd howls along to the fluctuating piano as eagerly as a meaty riff. The start of Space Dementia similarly buzzes with uproar, the track met with acclaim as its rich flurry of oozing sci-fi distortion washes over the arena.
From the massive, blazing red satanic bull that emerges near the end of the set, to the perpetual pyrotechnics that threaten to engulf the arena in flames, Muse work the crowd up brilliantly. While some Will Of The People tracks feel shallow on record, the sheer volume of the crowd gives them new life. Certain older tunes also seem hyper-charged when slotted alongside Will Of The People tracks; at times the room is entirely consumed by call-and-response, from the howl of the (Drill Sergeant) to the existential rumble of Psycho and Uprising .
As the night draws to a close, bassist Chris Wolstenholme walking out to perform his iconic harmonica intro for Knights of Cydonia , the masses go all out for the closer. Pits whirl and howl along, leaving one thing in people’s minds as the track reaches its triumphant finish - Muse nail it every time.

Music and concerts, music and concerts | concert review: british rockers muse go for it with bonkers target center show.
What have they been up to since we last saw them? Well, singer/guitarist Matt Bellamy has fallen out of the tabloids after splitting with his fiance Kate Hudson in 2014. (They reportedly remain friendly and share parental duties for their son.) He’s also abandoned his belief in conspiracy theories, which was always a stain on the group. As for prolific bassist Chris Wolstenholme, he’s added two more kids with his second wife and took in two more from her previous relationship, bringing his brood to a total of 10.
As for their music, Muse is touring on the back of their ninth album, last year’s “Will of the People.” The band’s label wanted a greatest hits collection, but Bellamy decided instead to make a record of new songs that sound like they’re already hits. As such, the 10 tracks — most of which they aired live Sunday — sound like snapshots from Muse’s past works, which dabble in everything from prog rock to electronic dance music.
When Muse hits the mark, they craft thrilling, dramatic miniature epics that sound custom-made for budget-busting blockbuster movies. Think “Hysteria,” “Supermassive Black Hole,” “Time Is Running Out” or “Knights of Cydonia,” all four of which proved to be highlights Sunday night. Unfortunately, the band’s misses manage to somehow come off as both overheated and underbaked at the same time, which describes the bulk of “Will of the People.”
In concert, though, Muse manages to sell the lesser stuff thanks to their sheer strength of will and a performance style best described as everything, everywhere, all at once. Sunday night, the band’s stage shot streamers, confetti and fire, with a dazzling array of lights, lasers and fog adding to the atmosphere. All of it served one over-the-top number after another in a blur of crush and grind. (That said, their totally magical take on 2012’s “Madness” offered brief relief from the clamor.)
Bellamy, Wolstenholme, drummer Dominic Howard and new touring member Dan Lancaster tore through every song as if it was the last. Bellamy’s voice is as terrific as it’s ever been, and he can still effortlessly slip into falsetto on the turn of a dime. Bellamy, backed by Lancaster, makes a ton of noise, but Wolstenholme’s muscular playing ensures he never gets lost in the mix. The bassist really went for it during the utterly thrilling “Uprising” near the end of a totally bonkers and wildly entertaining evening.

Concert Review: Muse Makes a Statement in Portland
Lights, lasers, strobes, a confetti shower and one giant stage-sized masked face rotating back and forth looking eerily at the crowd. Let’s see, what else, what else? Oh yes. Fire. Lots of fire.
All in a night’s work for Muse as the English rockers brought their Will of the People Tour to the Moda Center on Sunday in Portland. The band played 22 songs with videos in between and a couple of shorter song cuts, in a nearly two-hour long set featuring all the stage theatrics that define the Muse live show.
Though the visual element always accompanies the band, this time it seemed as if Muse let the music do more of the talking, or at least playing. It was all business, too, for the official trio of singer and guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenhome and drummer Dominic Howard who brought along a fourth musician to contribute on keyboards, some extra drums and guitar when Bellamy was doing other things. The stage located on one end of the arena in amphitheater style with a long catwalk down the middle. Bellamy yelled out infrequent “thanks yous,” introduced one song and the longest conversation of the evening when he recognized more people showed up than the last time they came through on the Drones Tour.
Indeed, Muse pretty much sold-out the arena from top-to-bottom. Ten years ago for the 2 nd Law Tour , the 300 level was curtained off. Muse entered the stage wearing full apocalyptic-like masks plowing right into the title track off the new album. A rather poignant, yet somewhat subtle messaging on the band’s feelings about what occurred during the coronavirus lockdowns , short dystopian videos occasionally played in between songs serving as the introduction to the next and supplementary visuals for the evening’s theme.
Muse played seven off Will of the People , interspersed with their popular hits and a couple of deeper cuts. At times very loud (I pulled out an earplug just to hear and quickly popped it back in), Muse found their cadence from the start and really never let up except for the video segments allowing them to change attire or put the masks back on.
The short track “Interlude” accompanied “Hysteria” just as it does on 2004’s Absolution, followed by “ Psycho ” and “Bliss” an excellent selection off 2001’s Origin of Symmetry, the band’s second album. The heavy “Won’t Stand Down” flooded in the decibels then one of the videos took your eyes off the stage so the giant masked figure would emerge when the band returned to the stage for “Compliance.” That guy stuck around for much of the show.
Bellamy’s vocals drove the slower “Thought Contagion” and the contemplative “Verona.” Howard gave his bandmates a bit of a break as he walked out to the secondary platform to lead the instrumental “The 2 nd Law: Isolated Systems.” Bellamy took his turn in the spotlight by playing a slide guitar solo while sitting on the shoulder of the giant masked figure for his take on “The Dark Side” and later playing “Behold, The Glove” off his solo album Cryosleep where he played much of the 80s like keyboard sounds off an electronic gadget, behold a glove!, attached to his arm. While very Muse-y, this resulted in the only hiccup of the evening as his soaring guitar was mostly sidelined for “Uprising” and the start of “Starlight.” Both songs failed to measure up to their potential greatness.
But not so with the Depeche Mode sounding “Undisclosed Desires,” and “You Make me Feel Like It’s Halloween” which bested the album version. Even the scales song, what I call “Plug In Baby” (another off their sophomore album) because the primary riff sounds like practice scales had some magic. Bellamy let the crowd sing a little too much on “Madness” but the crescendo that culminates midway always delivers. Wolstenhome brought out the double-neck bass for that one instead of the digital version he used last time. A quick encore included “Kill or Be Killed” off their latest and the popular “Knights of Cydonia” started with Wolstenhome playing a harmonica.
Muse played well and when factoring in the rhythm and beats of the lights and other effects, extraordinarily well. Perhaps this explains the dialed-in nature of their craft to stay on point with the timing of everything.

Review: Muse at 3Arena is an outrageous spectacle for sci-fi nerds, prog rock fans and conspiracy theorists alike
British band may be a quarter century into their career, but their stadium show is evidently as exhilarating as ever

If there's one thing you could never accuse Muse of, it's being too subtle.
Their current Will of the People world tour landed with a bombastic bang at Dublin's 3Arena on Wednesday night, featuring confetti canons, laser beams, copious fire and a giant hooded robotic head with a reflective diamond-shaped mask.
A sci-fi nerd, prog rock fan and conspiracy theorist's dream all rolled into one, the show, which features six distinct sections, is now a well-oiled and slick machine having traversed the globe before reaching the Irish capital.

Long before Covid deniers, online conspiracy theorists and misinformation went mainstream, the British group's enduring theme was paranoia, sci-fi and terrifying futuristic landscapes.
Their music – with its frequent vague lyrics about control and resistance – was inevitably co-opted by populist right wingers as far back as 2009, much to lead singer Matt Bellamy's chagrin.
But Muse are always at their best when they're not taking themselves too seriously. Something which they don't appear to be doing in this latest arena show, which kicks off at one hundred with the football-like chant Will of the People and spouting fire on either side of the stage and doesn't let up for a minute.
At some points, you might wonder if the trio are becoming a parody of themselves. But who really cares when Matt Bellamy is swaggering confidently along a catwalk wearing an LED light-up jacket or there is a giant minotaur creature on stage, hands outstretched into the crowd. Muse have always been a little bit silly in both their music and their shows, after all.
The musicianship is still wholly impressive with Dominic Howard's killer drums and Bellamy taking to a light-up piano as well as plucking his glittering guitar with aplomb throughout.
The veteran frontman's voice is still as good as it sounded supporting Ash in a small tent in Galway in 2001, his gelled spiked hair remains frozen in time, but his command of the stage is hard-earned from decades of rocking out in arenas like this one.
The audience are on-board for the entire dizzying spectacle, but are most vocally enthused when it comes to the big hits from the noughties.
Songs like Supermassive Black Hole, Plug In Baby, Starlight and encore closer Knights of Cydonia from Muse's career and 'coolness' peak in the early and mid-2000s expectedly get the biggest crowd reaction of the night and uproarious singalongs which don't even require the karaoke-esque words scrolling on the screen for the final track.
The band are clearly here to give their fans the best possible experience and frankly, it shows.
Frontman Bellamy energetically traverses every available inch of the stage, reaching down to fans and even playing his guitar right into the face of photographers so they can get their shot.
In-between songs, the banter is limited in this carefully choreographed prog rock opera, although Bellamy does inform us at one point that he is now an Irish passport holder, presumably a consequence of Brexit.
Fingers crossed that means the now officially British-Irish star will be back on our shores with an even more epic – if that's possible – show in years to come.

Music | cisco systems will slash thousands of jobs as tech layoffs widen, subscriber only, music | review: it was the biggest concert to hit this storied bay area venue in years, foo fighters played toyota pavilion in concord.
“Are you ready?” the Foo Fighters front man said not long after taking the stage at the Toyota Pavilion in Concord around 8:20 p.m. “We are going to kick your (expletive) asses for the next three hours.”
And then he just kept right on warning us.
“It’s going to be a long night for you (expletives),” the 55-year-old Ohio native stated a few more songs into the set. “I hope you all wore comfortable shoes.”
Followed by:
“Let me explain how this is going to go — we are going to play as many songs as we can until they kick us off stage,” the singer-guitarist said in what felt like a dozen such proclamations on the night.
Yet, he didn’t just talk the talk — he then went about backing up his multiple boasts by indeed rocking fans for the next 2½ hours plus.
Expletives not included.
It was a fitting performance for what was surely the biggest concert to hit Toyota Pavilion in years. After all, the Foo Fighters are a stadium-sized headliner — which just performed two big shows at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles over the weekend — and they were playing a sold-out show at the 12,500-seat Pavilion.
So, yeah, I’d say that’s an underplay. And pretty much every single fan in the house acted like they felt fortunate to be there to witness the event.
Grohl and company — guitarists Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel, keyboardist Rami Jaffee and new drummer Josh Freese — raced right out of the gate with a powerful version of “All My Life” that had everybody out of their seats and chanting along with the lyrics.
They’d follow up with an extended take on “No Son of Mine” that included snippets of three of the best hard rockers of all time — AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” (Given that this is the Bay Area, it wasn’t surprising to hear the Metallica tune get the loudest response from fans.)
The group played three songs off its latest album — last year’s “But Here We Are” — but mainly stuck to the vintage stuff for the “old-school fans,” who Grohl said he deeply identifies with.
“I’ve got a minivan, too,” the frontman reasoned.
(Grohl would later use the term “okey dokey artichokey” to further underscore that he’s now in his mid-50s.)
The vocalist -guitarist was his usual manic, energetic self, screaming his way through numbers and doing his best to pump up the crowd. The rest of the group was also sensational — including Shiflett, who especially showcased his nimble fret work through a passage that quoted from acclaimed axemen Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”), Eddie Van Halen (“Eruption”) and Angus Young (AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”).
“Believe me nobody else in the band can do that (expletive),” Grohl commented after the Shiflett showcase. “He’s our Swiss Army knife.”
Also, Freese — who joined the band in 2023 after drummer Taylor Hawkins died the year prior — was an absolute force throughout the show, delivering head-turning run after head-turning run. Grohl — who, of course, came to fame by setting the beat for Nirvana — sure can pick ’em when it comes to great drummers.
The bandleader did take the time to talk about the man who sat on the kit prior to Freese and dedicated the song “Aurora” to him late in the set.
“We like to do this one every night because it was Taylor Hawkins’ favorite song,” Grohl explained.
The group closed up their 2-hour-and-15-minute main set with the always fulfilling “Best of You,” before returning to give the fans even more with a two-song encore that brought yet another enjoyable Foo Fighters gig to an end.
These headliners were not, however, the hardest rocking band to hit the Pavilion stage on Tuesday night. That title would definitely go to L7, the Los Angeles-based punk-metal act that achieved some degree of commercial success in the ’90s with “Bricks Are Heavy” and other albums.
The group — featuring vocalist-guitarists Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner, vocalist-bassist Jennifer Finch and vocalist-drummer Dee Plakas — absolutely thundered through its opening set, delivering punishing versions of “Fuel My Fire,” “Pretend We’re Dead” “Fast and Frightening” and other winners.
It was a 30-minute set, which I wish had lasted twice that long. (Yes, even if it meant getting less Foos.) Make sure to catch L7 in concert if you have a chance.
Foo Fighters setlist: 1. “All My Life” 2. “No Son of Mine” 3. “The Pretender” 4. “Walk” 5. “Times Like These” 6. “White Limo” 7. “Stacked Actors” 8. “Breakout” 9. “My Hero” 10. “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” 11. “Learn to Fly” 12. “Arlandria” 13. “These Days” 14. “Statues” 15. “Under You” 16. “Nothing at All” 17. “This Is a Call” 18. “Shame Shame” 19. “Monkey Wrench” 20. “Aurora” 21. “Best of You” Encore: 22. “The Teacher” 23. “Everlong”

New Music Friday: The best albums out August 9

This week, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard release Flight b741 , the prolific and peripatetic Australian band's 26th album.
NPR Music's Daoud Tyler-Ameen and Ann Powers survey the new albums out August 9, ranging from Ravyn Lenae's focused R&B to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's scuzzed-up glam-rock and an elegant solo piano album recorded by Japanese pop star and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto just months before his death in 2023.
Plus: A stirring album made by 39-year-old American bassist esperanza spalding and 81-year-old Brazilian singer Milton Nascimento leads to a discussion of collaborations across generations. Daoud and Ann listen back on Rick Rubin's work shepherding Johnny Cash's late-career American Recordings albums and consider Olivia Rodrigo sharing a stage with Billy Joel, whose music she references in her own, and inviting '90s alt-rock icons The Breeders to open shows on her Guts tour. What are the rules for these kinds of collaborations? What makes them work, and who benefits more — the elder or younger artist?
Featured Albums: • Ravyn Lenae, Bird's Eye • Beabadoobee, This Is How Tomorrow Moves • King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Flight b741 • Latto, Sugar Honey Iced Tea • Ryuichi Sakamoto, Opus • Oso Oso, Life Till Bones • Thee Marloes, Perak • Milton Nascimento & esperanza spalding, Milton + esperanza
Other notable albums out August 9: • Logic, Ultra 85 • Big Sean, Better Me Than You • Amos Lee, Transmissions • J Balvin, Rayo • Quivers, Oyster Cuts • Polo G, Hood Poet • Spice, Mirror 25 • Asake, Lungu Boy • F***** Up, Another Day • Google Earth, Street View • Mavi, shadowbox • Peter Cat Recording Co., Beta
Links: • Sidney Madden's interview with Latto from season 2 of Louder Than A Riot • Ann Powers reviews Zach Bryan's Springsteen-mythologizing album The Great American Bar Scene • Watch a Tiny Desk (Home) concert by Milton Nascimento and esperanza spalding recorded in Nascimento's living room in Rio de Janeiro
