Here's how to watch 'Friends' on streaming services

As the news of actor Matthew Perry's death continues to reverberate around the world , many of his fans are sitting down to watch their favorite "Friends" episodes in honor of his witty character, Chandler Bing.

From his ill-fated relationships with the likes of nasal-voiced Janice to his complicated family dynamics and eventual happy ending with his best friend's sister and longtime neighbor, Monica Geller, Perry's Chandler had people rooting for him and laughing along for all 10 seasons of the classic show. "Friends" ran on NBC from 1994 to 2004.

How to watch 'Friends' on streaming services

For anyone who wants to take a trip down memory lane to Central Perk, every season of "Friends" is available on Max (formerly HBO Max).

Fans can also watch the 2021 reunion show on the streaming network.

While Max plans generally start at $9.99 a month for the ad experience and run up to $19.99 a month for the "ultimate" ad-free version, "Friends" fans should check with their mobile phone providers to see if there are any deals or discounts available.

For those who have live TV streaming service subscriptions, you can add Max as an add-on channel for typically $15.99 per month in addition to your base plan fees. Just download the Max app and follow the steps to sign in through your existing provider.

For those who want to ensure that they have access to the seasons for years to come — the popular show has previously changed streaming service hands from Netflix to Max, with some downtime — digital media stores like Amazon’s Prime Video, Apple’s iTunes and Google Play, have the episodes available for purchase.

Of course, if you prefer to have a hard-copy you can still purchase the iconic DVD or Blu-ray box sets many of us remember from the early aughts.

The show also continues to air as reruns on several networks. TBS announced on Oct. 31 a weeklong “Friends” marathon starting on Nov. 1.

What Matthew Perry said about rerewatching himself on 'Friends'

Before his death, Perry revealed that watching old episodes of the show was hard for him because it reminded him of his struggle with addiction.

“I didn’t watch the show and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, ‘Drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine,’” he told radio host Tom Power in November 2022, gesturing as if to point to himself in different episodes over the years.

“I could tell season by season by how I looked,” he continued. “I don’t think anybody else can, but I certainly could, and that’s why I don’t want to watch it, because that’s what I see, that’s what I notice when I watch it.”

In the same interview, Perry told Power that he wanted to be remembered for his work to help others stay sober.

"The best thing about me, bar none, is if somebody comes up to me and says, 'I can’t stop drinking; can you help me?' I can say yes and follow up and do it,” he said at the time. "It’s the best thing. And I’ve said this for a long time: When I die, I don’t want 'Friends' to be the first thing that’s mentioned. I want that to be the first thing that’s mentioned, and I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that.”

Perry died at the age of 54 on Oct. 28 in an apparent drowning. His autopsy results are inconclusive  pending a toxicology report.  An official cause of death is not  expected to be released  for several weeks. Two law enforcement sources told NBC News there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.

UPDATE (11:15 a.m. on April 11)  — Nicolae Miu has been found guilty of multiple criminal charges, including homicide, in the 2022 Apple River stabbings in Wisconsin.  Read the updated story here.

HUDSON, Wis. — Investigators say video from July 2022 shows  Nicolae Miu  being pushed and hit by a group of tubers on the river before he stabbed five people, killing 17-year-old  Isaac Schuman . The victims ranged in age from 17 to 24 and were from Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The trial for a 54-year-old Prior Lake man accused of killing a teen and stabbing four others on the Apple River in Wisconsin nearly two years ago began on Monday. 

Witnesses said Miu was initially in the river with goggles and a snorkel. A group of tubers accused of him of looking at young girls underwater, but Miu told investigators he was looking for a friend's missing cellphone.

The prosecution argues that Miu was the aggressor by stabbing five people. A knife, believed to belong to Miu, was later recovered by officers on the river bank.

Miu's defense attorneys, though, see it much differently, saying the teens taunted him, then surrounded him, and Miu was fighting for his life. 

He is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Schuman's death, and attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the stabbings of Ryhley Mattison, A.J. Martin, Dante Carlson and Tony Carlson. He pleaded not guilty to all charges in September 2022.

If convicted, Miu could be sentenced to life in prison.

Opening statements

The prosecution

The trial began with the opening statement from state prosecutor Karl Anderson, who called the deadly attack "senseless and horrific."

"All Nicolae had to do was walk away," Anderson said. "He eventually did walk away, but not after stabbing five people."

Anderson showed several screenshots from two videos taken by one of the members of Schuman's group, identified as Jawahn C.

Anderson said a member of Miu's group named Ariel dropped his cellphone in the river. Ariel said it wasn't that big of a deal because he had insurance, but Miu insisted on trying to retrieve it.

Miu approached Schuman's group. In the first video, approximately nine seconds in length, Jawahn C. is heard yelling "(Miu) says he's looking for little girls!"  

In the second video, Miu is shown running towards Schuman's group.

A group of adult tubers, identified as the Carlson group, then came over to intervene. The Schuman group is heard cheering when they arrive.

While showing several screenshots from the second video, which is almost 3 minutes and 30 seconds long, Anderson underlined that audio in the video indicates Miu was asked more than 20 times by the Schuman and Carlson groups to go away.

In the several screenshots, Anderson noted that before the physical confrontations begin, Miu appeared to be "smirking" while holding his knife low by his side. Anderson also stated that at no point did Miu speak or tell anyone to get back, and he didn't step back or walk away from the groups.  

Anderson said the first time the confrontation turned physical was when Miu punched a member of the Carlson group named Madison. Another member of the group, Dante Carlson, then punched Miu, causing him to fall into the shallow river.

Anderson said in a 25-second span, Miu then stabbed four members of the Carlson group: A.J. Martin, Ryhley Mattison, Dante Carlson and Tony Carlson. Miu also fatally stabbed Schuman, who suffered wounds to his torso, chest and heart.

"You don't see anyone besides Nicolai with a weapon. You don't see the boys touch Nicolai until after stabbings start," Anderson said.

Anderson said no one in either group was initially aware that Miu was stabbing people until they saw Martin in the water, who had been disemboweled. Anderson also pointed out that Miu had his knife's blade pointed upwards in the attacks.  

Afterward, Anderson said Miu walked back to his tubing group and told them "they took his knife." Several members of Miu's group called 911 to say several people were hurt, but they said they didn't know what happened. His group stayed at a sandbar until law enforcement arrived. One member of his group also helped some of the victims before speaking with police.

Anderson said Jawahn C. took a screenshot of Miu from the video and gave it to law enforcement, who quickly disseminated it. Employees then spotted Miu and alerted deputies, who then took Miu — who was then clothed and wearing a hat and sunglasses — into custody. Anderson said members of Miu's group protested his arrest, saying they "had the wrong guy."

Anderson said when Miu was in the back of a squad car at the scene, he allegedly said to the sheriff, "What's going on? I hear somebody got stabbed and I fit the description." Miu was then told he was under arrest for homicide and attempted murder.  

When he was interviewed later by law enforcement, Anderson said Miu was surprised to find there was video of the attacks. He told investigators he didn't have a knife, but members of Schuman's group were armed with knives. Miu allegedly said they knocked off his goggles and snorkel and threw them in the water and they tried to pull his pants down.

"I just grabbed the kid's knife. I didn't even know if I was holding it right. I just grabbed it from him because he tried to poke me with it, so, I feared for my life," Miu said, according to a transcript shown in a slide by Anderson.  

Anderson said Miu went on to tell investigators that he didn't know where the knife was that he used to defend himself with, but later a member from Miu's group told investigators they saw him "throw something onto shore before walking back to their group."

Anderson said when investigators told him four people were hurt and one died, Miu allegedly said, "Was that because they fought each other?"

Investigators later recovered Miu's knife on a river bank, and it tested positive for DNA from some of the victims.  

The defense

Defense attorney Aaron Nelson's opening statement repeatedly hammered home that Miu stabbed the other tubers in self-defense because he feared for his life.

Nelson began his statements with biographical details on Miu, who grew up in Romania and immigrated to the U.S. as a teen. He said Miu speaks several languages and described him as an "intelligent" and "peaceful" man.

He also emphasized that Miu was an "unfit 260-pound man" who had undergone a quadruple bypass surgery two years before the deadly encounter.  

Nelson said Miu only brought his knife at the request of a friend so they could use it to cut the twine needed to connect the group's tubes before they coasted down the river. He said Miu likes to snorkel and brought his equipment, eventually using it to find his friend's phone.

Nelson described Schuman's group as "drunk teens" who were "smoking stuff." He also said Schuman's autopsy results revealed he had a blood alcohol level of .219, and his friends later told investigators Schuman was the most sober one in their group that day.

Nelson said the group began to "heckle" and "humiliate" Miu based on his appearance and loudly accused him of being a "raper" who was "looking for little girls." Nelson also pointed out that there were no "little girls" near the groups during the altercation.  

He said Miu began to run towards Schuman's group because he saw one of them hold up what he believed to be the cellphone he was searching for, and dropped his goggles and snorkel into the river in the process.

Nelson accused Schuman's group of then threatening Miu with physical harm.

"'You got 10 seconds,' that's what that group of drunk teenagers says to that old man," Nelson said.

He said Miu then began to walk towards the Carlson group to appeal to them, but the group was immediately hostile. Nelson said an older member of the Carlson group, Quentin Carlson, later told investigators that he sent his sons Tony and Dante over to Miu and the Schuman group because he worried "the old guy" was going to get hurt.  

Nelson said Carlson's group was swayed by the Schuman group's claims that Miu was a "predator" looking for "little girls," and Miu was then soon surrounded.

"They got a crowd. They told lies to make the crowd angry," Nelson said. "Nick Miu standing in the river with 13 strangers. Thirteen drunk, angry strangers. Thirteen against one. They yelled and they screamed in order to attract a crowd."

Nelson said there were inconsistencies between the parties involved in their respective interviews over whether Miu punched, slapped or pushed a member of Carlson's party named Madison, which led to Miu being knocked into the river by Dante Carlson.  

"When he tries to get up out of the water, they attack him in the front, smack him across the front of the face while somebody comes from behind and starts pushing him down. And that moment he feared for his life and he responded with self-defense," Nelson said.

He said Miu then began to make "quick, short jab motions" with his knife towards the mob.

"When people attacked Miu, he responded," Nelson said.

Nelson then showed three images of what appeared to be Schuman strangling Miu, which he said caused Miu to fall backward and fatally stab Schuman by accident.

"I'm sure (Schuman) was a wonderful man, wonderful human being. We're going to hear a lot about him, but in this moment, on this day, on that river, when he was drunk, he tried to strangle Nick Miu," Nelson said.

Nelson said after the stabbings, Miu tossed the knife because he was "suffering from shock and trauma."

The first witness

Ryan Nelson was the first witness called by the prosecution.

Nelson said he was positive that Miu started the fight when he hit Madison.

"It looked like he struck her definitively with his right hand," Nelson said.

During an intense cross-examination, defense attorneys challenged Nelson's memory of events. 

The trial continues on Tuesday at St. Croix County Courthouse in Hudson, Wisconsin.

Every great road trip has a good playlist. But turn your tunes into a game by seeing who can name the singer, song title, and, for a bonus round, the year the song came out. You can set up a playlist in advance for this game or just scroll through the stations.

7. The Geography Game

If you loved social studies as a kid, this game is for you. One person starts the game by throwing out a geographic location (i.e. city, state, mountain region, river, etc.). Let’s say the starting word is California. The next person then comes with a location that starts with the last letter of the previous name, so, in this case, the letter “A,” which could be Alaska, Appalachians, Atlanta, and so on. You could mix up the themes, too, or narrow the categories, too. Other categories could be types of food, animals, countries, or band names.

The Hunt for a Retirement Keepsake

On a family trip to Switzerland, Joseph Barreto fell in love with an Omega Constellation.

In 2022, several months after Joseph Barreto retired as a high school guidance counselor in East Harlem, he got a keepsake gift: a 42-millimeter stainless steel Omega Constellation watch with a grayish-taupe dial and prominent date display.

But getting the timepiece wasn’t as straightforward as, say, walking into Omega’s Fifth Avenue boutique. Instead, the Hackensack, N.J., resident traveled to Switzerland to buy it.

“Buying a watch in Europe is just a whole other experience,” said Mr. Barreto, 57. “They sit you down; there’s Champagne, there’s chocolate. It’s just an event.”

Many of the former students Mr. Barreto worked with over his 34-year career had given him money on his retirement, saying he should spend it on things to help commemorate the occasion. (“They’re family to me,” he said.)

His first purchase was a custom-made 14-karat gold pendant with diamonds and sapphires that he wears every day in memory of his father, who died in December 2019. “I had money, believe it or not, left over to buy the airline ticket for the trip,” Mr. Barreto said, “and still some left over to buy a watch.”

Mr. Barreto, who grew up in a blue-collar household, said his interest in watches was a personal thing. As he put it, “I’m a Puerto Rican from the Bronx — that’s not a Bronx thing, to get a watch that’s high-end.”

“When we were kids, if you had a Timex, that was a ‘good watch’ — that’s what they called it,” he said.

Over the years, he bought watches by Bulova, Movado, Swatch, Victorinox and others. Then, during his first trip to Europe, a journey he made in 2017 to visit a cousin, Noel Matos, Mr. Barreto bought a 42-millimeter quartz Rado Centrix watch in black and gold.

“He got here and fell in love with Europe,” said Mr. Matos, a food industry executive in Basel, Switzerland. “That trip really changed his life. He started eating differently; he started looking at the world differently.”

And during the pandemic, Mr. Barreto began using online resources to learn more about watches, primarily by watching YouTube videos from the likes of the watch retailers Teddy Baldassarre and Federico Iossa.

When Mr. Barreto retired — a few dozen pounds lighter than in recent years, thanks in part to a Swiss-inspired diet — he started planning another trip to Europe, but this time with his wife, Teresa, and their son, Joseph.

“He really felt like he had to share his first-time experiences with two other people who had never been to Europe,” Mr. Matos said. “It was really to kind of open that Pandora’s box to his wife and son.”

When the Barretos arrived in Europe, they embarked on a road trip, covering six countries in 14 days in a rented Mercedes-Benz E-Class station wagon.

Mr. Barreto had a list of contenders for his retirement watch including models by Rolex, Tissot, Rado, Oris and Omega, a brand he had long admired.

And one morning’s itinerary was planned to include a stop at Omega’s boutique in Interlaken, Switzerland, as Mr. Matos knew someone working there. Mr. Barreto, a James Bond fan, said he walked in leaning heavily toward getting a Seamaster. But when he tried on the watch he ultimately purchased, “There was something about the face of this Constellation watch: the texture, the color,” he said. “When I saw it, that was it completely.”

Mr. Barreto, who has been keeping himself busy in retirement as the chairman of Somos New Jersey, a nonpartisan political action committee that focuses on Latino voters and representation, said he now had a total of about two dozen watches.

As for the Omega his cousin purchased, Mr. Matos said: “It makes his wrist complete. Not only does it look good, it works with everything he wears. It works with how he carries himself.”

Purdue faces nc state with a trip to the ncaa championship game on the line.

The Final Four's first game will see No. 1 seed Purdue  continue its quest for its first trip to the national title game since 1969 when it face off against No. 11 seed NC State  in Glendale, Arizona on Saturday. The winner of this game will have a date with the winner of No. 1 UConn-No. 4 Alabama on Monday.

Purdue's road to the Final Four started with a win over No. 16 seed Grambling State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Boilermakers followed up that performance with a statement win over No. 8 Utah State in the second round before knocking off No. 5 seed Gonzaga and No. 2 seed Tennessee in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, respectively. Purdue is making its first Final Four appearance since 1980 and third all-time.

NC State's road to the final weekend of the college basketball season has been quite different. The Wolfpack have won nine consecutive elimination games dating back to last month's ACC Tournament to advance. NC State fired off wins over No. 6 Texas Tech , No. 14 Oakland , No. 2 Marquette , and No. 2 Duke to advance out of the South Region.

Wolfpack star big man DJ Burns Jr . has become a March Madness icon. Burns is coming off his best performance of the season with 29 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in the win over the Blue Devils. The Wolfpack last reached the Final Four in 1983 -- the same year as their last national championship.

Purdue seeks redemption:  Last spring, Purdue was on the wrong side of one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history. The Boilermakers lost to No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed and are two games away from writing a similar redemption script as Virginia -- the only other team to lose to a No. 16 seed in NCAA Tournament history. The year after Virginia lost to No. 16 seed UMBC , they captured the national title. Purdue star big man Zach Edey elected to return to school for another season, and he is on the verge of capturing his second consecutive National Player of the Year award. Edey is the key to a Purdue victory.

NC State's improbable run:  NC State's run to the Final Four started with a win over Louisville in the opening round of the ACC Tournament. The Wolfpack went on to win five games in five days to capture the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament from the ACC. In the ACC semifinals against Virginia, NC State guard Michael O'Connell hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime to keep his team's season alive. If it wasn't for that win, NC State likely get sent to the NIT, and coach Kevin Keatts goes into the offseason on the hot seat. Now, they're two games away from completing the most improbable run in the history of this tournament.

Edey vs. Burns:  The must-watch matchup on Saturday is the battle of centers. Edey is on pace to finish with historic stats from the NCAA Tournament. If anyone is going to slow him down, it's Burns. Purdue is one of the top 3-point shooting teams, but they rely on post-touches to Edey to get the offense going. When the defense collapses on Edey, it often leads to wide-open 3-pointers -- hence why Purdue shoots the ball from deep at such a high clip.

I paid $1,600 to stay at a lodge at Parc Omega, where wolves come right up to your window

• My friends and I paid $1,600 to stay at a wolf lodge at Parc Omega, a safari park in Quebec, Canada.
• The lodges had panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows to watch wolves in their forest habitats.
• We thought the experience was well worth the money, especially since we had access to the trails.

This year, more and more people are prioritizing spending money on trips instead of going out with friends — and, with that, visiting dream destinations and soaking in one-of-a-kind experiences are top of mind.

A few years ago, I saw a video of people on a vacation I knew would be worth adding to my own bucket list . This video showed people staying in a lodge at Parc Omega as beautiful Canadian gray wolves walked past floor-to-ceiling windows.

I knew my friends and I had to visit a wolf lodge for ourselves, and this past winter, we finally got to go. Here's what our $1,600 stay at Parc Omega was like.

I booked my trip to Parc Omega several months in advance.

Before I booked a lodge, I regularly checked the cabin availability on Parc Omega's reservation page. I didn't have any specific dates in mind, but knew I wanted a two-night stay during the winter months.

Finally, in May 2023, a two-night stay for February 2024 opened up. I eagerly booked a cabin with two of my friends.

The lodge was expensive, but I split the cost with my friends.

The total for a two-night stay with taxes and fees was $2,160 CAD, or about $1,600 USD, which I split with two friends.

When I booked, I noticed prices for the wolf cabins started at $570 CAD per night. The rates seemed to fluctuate depending on demand and season.

We could choose from a cabin, lodge, or chalet. Since we weren't sure if more friends would join us, we chose a lodge that could house up to six people.

My friends and I flew to Ottawa and drove to Parc Omega.

The drive from Ottawa to Montebello, Quebec, was about an hour long, but we arrived just in time for the 4 p.m. check-in. When we entered the park, we drove to the check-in cabin, which was located near the entrance.

A receptionist handed us maps of the lodges and the whole park, told us we'd be staying in the Artique Lodge, and gave us directions to our housing unit.

Our lodge was one of four houses located near a 13-member wolf pack's protected forest habitat.

Our lodge was located near a 13-member-wolf-pack habitat. At check-in, the staff explained we'd see different wolf behaviors dependent on the season.

For example, they said in the spring, parkgoers may see wolf pups emerging from the den with their mother.

There were a few safety precautions in place.

At check-in, a staff member gave us an emergency number and reminded us not to feed the wolves. A very tall fence also separated the wolf habitat from the lodge's yards and patios, so the animals couldn't get to the parkgoers.

We also couldn't open the windows overlooking the wolves' habitat.

We saw the wolves as soon as we walked through the lodge's doors.

We saw beautiful Canadian gray wolves standing at our floor-to-ceiling window when we entered the lodge .

We immediately sat on the floor, pressed our noses against the glass, and forgot about unpacking the car and putting groceries in the fridge.

I felt so lucky to see the wolves greeting us as new guests. Some of them even started howling, which gave all of us goosebumps.

We watched the wolves through the window for hours.

Eventually, my friends and I put a few blankets and pillows on the floor to get cozy as we watched the majestic animals .

The wolves howled well into the night, which felt magical during the snowfall.

The wolves were a highlight of the trip, but the Artique Lodge was really nice, too.

I thought the Artique Lodge was large enough to fit six people comfortably.

The kitchen had a fridge, stove, microwave, Nespresso machine, and plenty of cookware and utensils. There were two sofas and a coffee table in the living room, four beds around the lodge, and a bathroom on the ground floor.

We also enjoyed an outdoor fire pit with a cooking grate and a seating area.

We enjoyed breakfast alongside the wolves.

The next morning, we cooked breakfast and enjoyed our meals as the wolves fought over their own food in front of us.

I loved watching the wolves play with each other.

We continued to watch the wolves sleep, fight, howl, play, and roam around their habitat. I loved observing their behaviors, which I imagine are similar to wolves in the wild.

We also drove along Parc Omega's trail.

Parc Omega offers a large wildlife safari park with about 20 animal species, including moose, caribou, arctic foxes, and bison. As lodge guests, we had free access to the park.

People not staying at Parc Omega's accommodations can access the wildlife safari with a ticket, which costs about $44 CAD.

With the help of the park map we received at check-in, we drove along the 7 ½-mile marked path, which took about an hour and a half. It was an amazing, lively drive as the deer, moose, and caribou approached our car so we could feed them carrots.

Overall, staying at a lodge at Parc Omega was worth the money.

The wolf lodges at Parc Omega were a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

I loved how the lodge's panoramic floor-to-ceiling bay windows allowed us to be so close to the wolves. I felt like I was living in a fantasy novel.

Although it was an expensive trip for me, I thought the unique excursion was a great value, especially since we had access to the park trails. I'm ecstatic I crossed the wolf lodges off my bucket list.
