The Incredible Journey is a 1963 live-action Walt Disney film based on the novel The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford. Narrated by Rex Allen, the film follows the adventure of three pets, Luath the Labrador Retriever, Bodger the Bull Terrier, and Tao the Siamese cat, as they journey 250 miles through the Canadian wilderness to return to their home.

The Syn Cat was also in the title role of the Disney film That Darn Cat! (1965).

The film was mostly well received for the nature scenes as well as for Rex Allen's narration, however, the human scenes, including the climatic ending got mixed to negative reviews, stating that the human scenes had interrupted the mood of the film.

Some animals are shot at with guns -- although none of them are hit, it is enough to scare the animals away. A duck hunt sees a duck being shot dead in the sky and a dog retrieve it. There are some aggressive scenes between animals. A cat hisses and claws at a bear when protecting a dog. The cat is later chased by a lynx before a gunshot scares the big cat away. Spoiler alert: A cat falls into a river and is washed away, presumably to its death -- it later emerges that it has survived. The animals constantly face the threat of starvation. In an effort to find some food, a cat catches a fish and a dog catches a rabbit -- the latter is seen lifeless between the dog's jaws. After trying to catch a porcupine, a dog ends up with the porcupine's spikes in its face, causing much distress.

Synopsis:  Based on the book by Sheila Burnford.  Three animals, a young Labrador Retriever named Luath (played by Rink), a Siamese cat named Tao (played by Syn) and an older Bull Terrier named Bodger (played by Muffey), are being cared for by their owners’ friend, John Longridge (Émile Genest).  When Longridge goes duck hunting the animals set off across the rugged Canadian wilderness in an effort to find their way home.

Cinema Cat:  Syn the Siamese Cat shines in his role as Tao in this film and many of the scenes are devoted to him solely.  There are several times when Tao causes trouble but then there are many times when Tao is a hero, stepping in to protect his canine friends or catching food for them.

Syn is a cat actor with real screen presence.  Walt Disney must have noticed this as well, because Syn would later star in the Disney film That Darn Cat! alongside Hayley Mills.  William Koehler was the trainer of Syn for both films.

Kitty Carnage Warning!  Some people have pointed a harsh finger at this film as being a prime example of animal cruelty in films.  Certainly there are notorious examples in these live-action Disney nature films where animals were reportedly injured or killed (the lemmings “suicide” in White Wilderness being a prime example).  Some scenes in this film are certainly cringe-worthy for those who cannot stand to see animals in any kind of distress.  Tao is shown many times hissing, fighting and screeching, something many a cat actor has been somehow cajoled to do on film.  In all honesty, the worst offense in this film is the fact that they put animal actors together who really probably should not have been sharing the screen, seeing as how even in the best of circumstances there are chances for things to go wrong, i.e. the bear and the lynx scenes in particular.  But by the same token we don’t see any real evidence onscreen of the animals hurting one another in these scenes.  And the scene where Tao is washed downstream is honestly not as traumatic to see as the one in the later remake, but neither is as bad as the scenes in Koneko Monogatari .  In any case, we can’t confirm or deny any harm coming to the animals in this film but if you are super sensitive to watching animals in peril you may want to give this one a pass.

The Incredible Journey (film) should not be confused with The Incredible Human Journey .

The Incredible Journey is a 1963 Canadian-American adventure film directed by Fletcher Markle and produced by Walt Disney Productions . Based on the 1961 novel of the same name by Scottish writer Sheila Burnford , [2] the film follows the adventure of Luath the Labrador Retriever , Bodger the Bull Terrier , and Tao the Siamese cat as they journey 300 miles (480 km) through the Canadian wilderness to return to their home. The film's human cast consists of Émile Genest , John Drainie , Tommy Tweed, and Sandra Scott, with Rex Allen providing narration.

Released on November 20, 1963 by Buena Vista Distribution , the film received $4.2 million in overall rentals. It was the final film to be scored by longtime Disney composer Oliver Wallace , who died two months prior to its release.

One night, deep in the forests of Ontario , bachelor John Longridge plans a long hunting trip. His housekeeper Mrs. Oakes is coming the next day, so he leaves her a note, including how he plans to let the three animals staying with him - Tao the Siamese cat , Luath the Yellow Labrador , and Bodger the elderly English Bull Terrier - out for a morning run. He retires to bed, and reflects on how his friend John Hunter (Luath's owner, who lives nearly 250 miles away) received an offer for a visiting fellowship at the University of Oxford . Tao and Bodger belong to Hunter's children Elizabeth and Peter, respectively, and Longridge offered to take in all three pets while the family was away. Tao, meanwhile, accidentally knocks the crucial half of the note into the fireplace, destroying it.

The next day, Longridge lets the animals into his yard for a run, and departs. Before Mrs. Oakes can arrive, Luath hears wild geese traveling home, and decides he wants to go home, too. He leaves the yard, and the other two follow. They intend to travel due west until they get there, not knowing how far it is. Mrs. Oakes and her husband Bert arrive, and assume that Longridge has taken the animals with him.

The animals soon realize Bodger, due to his age, is a liability. Having no means of getting food from humans without getting caught, they continue to forge ahead, but Bodger eventually collapses. Tao goes off to hunt some birds, and Luath goes off in search of water. Two American black bear cubs discover Bodger, but he does not respond to their play, so they decide to wrestle each other. The mother bear comes running at the noise, thinks Bodger has hurt her cubs, and tries to attack. Tao and Luath return and drive off the bear, and Bodger eats a bobwhite that Tao has killed for him, regaining his strength.

The animals travel on, hunting as they go. They are forced to pass through the yard of a sawmill , where Bodger attempts to raid the cookhouse trash can, only to be shot at by the cook. Luath catches a rabbit, but Bodger and Tao discover an old hermit, Jeremy, who has dementia. Jeremy mistakes them for human guests, and tries to serve them food, but then distractedly eats it all himself. Later still, the two dogs swim across a river while Tao walks across on a beaver dam . It breaks, and Tao is washed miles downstream, where he is rescued by a little Finnish girl named Helvi, who nurses him to full health with her parents' help. He hurries to catch up with the dogs, taking shelter from a thunderstorm and narrowly avoiding being eaten by a lynx on the way. Luckily, a young hunter appears from the shadows and chases the lynx away.

Shortly after being reunited, the animals encounter a porcupine , which spikes Luath in the face. Seeking water to alleviate the pain, Luath is found by hunter James Mackenzie. He takes Luath back to his farm, where Bodger has already arrived and made friends with Mackenzie's wife Nell. The dogs are treated and fed, and locked in the barn for the night. Meanwhile, Longridge returns home, and he and Mrs. Oakes quickly piece together the truth. Longridge starts calling all the ranger stations and outposts for help, and news of sightings comes in from all over.

Tao manages to free the dogs, and the trio wanders into the harsh Ironmouth Mountains, where there will be no more help from humans, and a terrible wintery climate. The Hunters return home to the sad news that Mackenzie was the last to see the animals alive. Elizabeth refuses to believe Tao will die, but Peter and Mr. Hunter accept that Bodger and Luath are likely no more. They decide to celebrate Peter's birthday to take their mind off of things.

Elizabeth hears a dog barking during the party, believes it's Luath, and convinces her father to whistle for the dog. Hunter whistles, and Luath appears, quickly followed by Tao, joyfully reuniting with the family. Peter mourns for Bodger, who is not there, but then notices the old dog slowly approaching from far behind the others. Peter runs to meet him, and the other two animals return to Bodger's side, so they can all complete their journey together.

Before filming, producer Jack Couffer visited Burnford in Port Arthur, Ontario to photograph the surrounding countryside which he used to pinpoint a filming location that fitted the area as close as possible. This was necessary as the season in Ontario was too short to schedule the necessary filming.

There were three animal handlers; Hal Driscoll looked after the Labrador, Bill Koehler the Bull Terrier, and Al Niemela the cat.

Burnford spent seven days with the film crew, including one session where they filmed the Siamese cat "fishing in a creek, and landing its flapping catch with a lightningswift professional paw" as often as the director wished. [3]

In 1993, Disney made a new version of the film, entitled . Featuring the voices of Don Ameche , Sally Field, and Michael J. Fox in the roles of the animals unlike the original where they are mute, the film keeps the same basic story line, but adds a subplot in which the kids are dealing with a new step-family. All three pets are renamed, the breeds of the dogs are changed, the cat is changed from male to female, and the ages of the original Labrador/Golden Retriever and Bull Terrier/American Bull Dog are switched. It also has vocalizations of the animals' thoughts and communications with each other.

Unlike the original story, the wilderness through which the three animals journey across is in the Sierra Nevada mountains, not the forested wilderness of Ontario.

The film was also followed by a sequel in 1996, entitled .

The Incredible Journey was written by Sheila Burnford and published in 1960. It is a children’s title—although Burnford has asserted that it was not meant for children exclusively. The novel began to enjoy cultural prominence when it was adapted into a Disney film in 1963. It was also re-made in a 1993 film.

Plot Summary

It is the beginning of an Indian summer in northwest Ontario at the outset of the story. The writer John Longridge has assumed care of the Hunter family’s beloved pets: the elderly bull terrier Bodger , the sassy Siamese cat Tao , and the young and ever-loyal golden labrador Luath . The Hunters are longtime friends of Longridge, who also is the Hunter children’s godfather. 12-year-old Peter has had Bodger since he was only a year old, and the two share an inimitable bond. Tao belongs to his younger sister Elizabeth, and Luath is James Hunter’s steadfast hunting companion. The Hunters have gone on a trip to England for a temporary academic job that James has accepted there. When Longridge heard that the family planned to board their beloved animals, he volunteered to care for them in their absence. He has been housing the animals in his Ontario forest cabin, which he occasionally lives in while completing his manuscripts.

Longridge also loves the Hunter animals very much. Bodger has warmed to him quite naturally, as being a companion to humans is the dog’s greatest love. Tao is aloof yet comfortable and occasionally affectionate with Longridge. Luath is respectful and well-mannered but saves all of his true loyalty for his master, James.

Longridge is good friends with his (long-distance) neighbors the Oakes. Mrs. Oakes sees to his domestic needs when he stays in his cabin. He has arranged for her to care for the animals while he embarks on a canoe hunting expedition. The night before his departure, he composes a two-page letter to Mrs. Oakes. In it, he tells her that he will be taking the animals out for a walk the next morning, and then bringing them back in afterwards, before he sets out on his journey. However, during the night, Tao runs across Longridge’s desk and upsets the letter—sending the second page into the fireplace, where all but Longridge’s signature is lost to the flames.

The next day, when Mrs. Oakes arrives, she finds only the first page of Longridge’s letter, which makes it ambiguously appear that he has taken the animals with him on his canoeing hunting trip. The animals are not in the house. Mrs. Oakes frets over this, as she was eager to spend time with Bodger, especially, and is a bit concerned about the practical elements of bringing them all on a canoeing expedition. She defers to what she believes is Longridge’s judgment.

Unbeknownst to all the humans, Luath has led his two companions on a journey westward and toward their home. The animals have naturally fallen into a formation that they will adopt for many hundreds of miles: Luath stays by Bodger’s left side, as the elder dog is deaf in his left ear, and Tao trails them while indulging his own curiosities along the trail.

The animals each tap into their ancestral instincts during their journey. Tao is the wildest in the trio—he is able to effortlessly hunt and progress through the forest fearlessly. Bodger has fighting instincts, but his advanced age renders him a fragile and fitful traveler. Luath is not a killer by nature, and has trouble catching prey, but it is his internal compass westward and homebound that leads the way.

The animals encounter a number of high-stakes difficulties during their journey. One day, a bear cub takes an interest in Bodger and slashes him across the back. Tao quickly comes to her friend’s aid, attacking the cub’s eyes with his razor-sharp claws. When Luath comes bounding onto the scene, the mother bear and her cub retreat.

On another occasion, Tao is overtaken by an avalanche of timber when a beaver dam collapses while he is trying to cross a river. The cat is knocked unconscious and almost drowns but is fortuitously rescued by a young Finnish girl named Helvi Nurmi. Water blocks up the cat’s ears and renders him deaf for three days. Helvi and her family nurse Tao back to health, and the cat regains his hearing before setting back out into the wilderness and re-joining his canine companions.

The three animals also happen upon an elderly man with a faltering grip on reality. He mistakes the animals for humans and tries to treat them to a meal in his cabin before seeing them out.

Luath also incurs the wrath of a porcupine that he unsuccessfully tries to hunt and is forced to continue the journey with three quills lodged in his face. The wounds quickly become infected and extremely painful.

Bodger and Luath are later taken in by a kindly couple named the Mackenzies. Empty nesters who live in the wilderness, they have had many family pets throughout the years and intimately know the deep bonds that can form between domestic pets and their human masters. When the ever-loving Bodger turns up on their doorstep, later followed by a more cautious Luath, they immediately take the animals in and begin inquiring in their township about the peculiar trio’s presence in the wilderness. They also see Luath’s failing health, extract the quills immediately, and feed him as much as possible. Although they are intent on keeping the dogs, they also can see that they are on a very purposeful and undeterrable journey. Tao never makes himself known to the Mackenzies. Instead, he unlocks the latch to the barn where the couple begins keeping the dogs. A after a few days, the animals have headed back out into the wilderness and on their way.

By now, word of mouth from the various people who have encountered the animal trio has spread, and Oakes and Longridge have cobbled together the pieces of the puzzle to determine that the animals are headed westward and toward their home. They have been able to speak via telephone to several of the people that the animals have encountered. They also assume that the animals are dead. By looking at a map, they are able to pinpoint the animals’ journey with good accuracy, and they also see that they are headed toward the treacherous Ironmouth Mountain Range—just as the Indian summer is ending and a cruel winter approaches.

A few weeks pass, and Longridge has informed the Hunters of the unfortunate turn of events with their pets. The Hunters have returned from their trip, each family member full of longing and anticipation for their reunion with their beloved pet. Elizabeth has even purchased a new red leather collar for Tao. The Hunters are heartbroken to learn the news, and as time goes on, Elizabeth becomes the lone holdout in the family—she is utterly convinced that the animals will return to them, safe and sound.

The Hunters and Longridge go on a trip to the Hunters’ summer cottage. Elizabeth is hesitant to go, as she worries that Tao and the others may return home while they are gone. Longridge shows her the map of the animals’ route and assures her that the Hunter summer cottage lies on it. This convinces Elizabeth to go, but Longridge is afraid that her determined optimism will soon be proven wrong. All of the humans are devastated by the loss of the animals, but they try their best to enjoy their trip. Peter is especially bereft, as he shares a deep bond with the dog he has treasured as his companion for his whole life. He is convinced that Bodger is dead.

Then, on the last August day of their trip and Peter’s birthday, while they are on a walk in the forest, Emily hears a dog barking. She listens closely and immediately identifies the bark as Luath’s. No one else believes her—until Tao comes bounding out of the forest. The overjoyed cat is enclosed in a warm embrace by Elizabeth. Soon enough, Luath also emerges from the forest for an emotional reunion with James.

Peter watches the scene quietly, and then tells everyone that he is going to circle back on the trail to try to capture a photograph of a whisky-jack. He is clearly saddened by Bodger’s absence. Longridge decides to join him in order to keep an eye on him. Then, Bodger emerges from the forest and reunites with his master. This is the greatest birthday present Peter has ever received. The story ends on an image of Longridge making his way down the trail. He is joined by Tao on his walk in the spirit of intimate friendship.

ഇന്നലെ വരെ സൈബറിടങ്ങളിലെ ഫാന്‍സുകള്‍ക്ക് അനഭിമതയായിരുന്നു ഈ നടി. സിനിമാ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരിലെ മഹാഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തിന് അവര്‍ കണ്ണിലെ കരടായിരുന്നു. എന്തിനെയും ഏതിനെയും എതിര്‍ക്കുന്ന തന്റേടിയും ധിക്കാരിയുമായ സ്ത്രീ എന്ന തലത്തില്‍ അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ ദുര്‍വ്യാഖ്യാനം ചെയ്തവരുണ്ട്. ഇന്ന് ഒരിക്കല്‍ എതിര്‍ത്തവരും ആക്ഷേപിച്ചവരും ഏകസ്വരത്തില്‍ പറയുന്നു. പാര്‍വതിയാണ് താരം. നടി എന്ന നിലയിലും വ്യക്തി എന്ന നിലയിലും 'ദ് റിയല്‍ സൂപ്പര്‍സ്റ്റാര്‍'. പാര്‍വതിയുടെ കാലഘട്ടത്തില്‍ ജീവിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞത് തന്റെ സൗഭാഗ്യമെന്ന് മുതിര്‍ന്ന നടിയും ആക്ടിവിസ്റ്റുമായ മാലാ പാര്‍വതി പരസ്യമായി തന്നെ പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞു.

സിനിമയിലെ അഭിജാതമുഖങ്ങള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം വനിതാ സംഘടനകളും പൊതുപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും സാംസ്‌കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും ബുദ്ധിജീവികളും മുതല്‍ അതിസാധാരണക്കാര്‍ വരെ ഈ സ്ത്രീയുടെ ആര്‍ജവത്തെ നമിക്കുന്നു. അതിജീവിതയ്ക്ക് കേരളീയ സമൂഹത്തിന് അചിന്ത്യമായ ഒരു ദുരന്തം നേരിട്ടപ്പോള്‍ ഒപ്പം നില്‍ക്കാന്‍ ഭയന്നവരാണ് സിനിമയില്‍ ഏറെയും. പണവും സ്വാധീനശക്തിയുമുളള ഒരു ആള്‍ക്കൂട്ടം ഒരു വശത്തും മറുവശത്ത് അടുത്ത സുഹൃത്തുക്കളായ ഏതാനും കലാകാരികളെയും ഒപ്പം നിര്‍ത്തി മുന്നില്‍ നിന്ന് പട നയിച്ചത് വാസ്തവത്തില്‍ പാര്‍വതിയായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ, അവര്‍ ഒരിക്കലും തന്റെ വ്യക്തിഗത നേട്ടമായി ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് പറഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല. ‘ഞങ്ങള്‍... നമ്മള്‍... നാം’- എന്നതാണ് പാര്‍വതിയുടെ ഭാഷ്യം. എണ്ണത്തില്‍ കുറവെങ്കിലും ഇച്ഛാശക്തിയും മൂല്യബോധവുമുളള ആ കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ പേരായിരുന്നു ഡബ്ല്യുസിസി.

2009ൽ ‘മീനു കുര്യൻ’; ഒരു ലക്ഷമെങ്കിലും മതിയെന്ന് 2022ൽ; മുകേഷിനെ രക്ഷിക്കുമോ ‘ലാ‌പ്ടോപ് സന്ദേശ’വും സിപിഎമ്മും?

'അമ്മ'യുടെ ഭാവി ഇനി ആരുടെ കൈകളില്‍ ?

കൗരവ-പാണ്ഡവ യുദ്ധത്തെ ഓർമിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പോരാട്ടമായിരുന്നു പിന്നീട് നടന്നത്. ഒരു വശത്ത് അധര്‍മവും മറുഭാഗത്ത് ധര്‍മവും. ഒപ്പം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനെ പോലെ പിന്‍തുണയുമായി പൃഥ്വിരാജിനെ പോലൊരു മഹാമേരുവുമുണ്ടെന്ന് പലരും പറഞ്ഞു പരത്തിയെങ്കിലും ഇരുകൂട്ടരും അത് സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ പാര്‍വതിയുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും പോരാട്ടത്തെ ഒറ്റയാള്‍ വിപ്ലവമെന്നെ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയൂ. ഒറ്റവ്യക്തി എന്നതിനപ്പുറം ഒരു മനസുളള ചെറിയൊരു കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ പോരാട്ടം.

റിമ കല്ലിങ്കല്‍, രമ്യ നമ്പീശന്‍, രേവതി, പത്മപ്രിയ, അഞ്ജലി മേനോന്‍, ദീദി ദാമോദരന്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ കുറെ പേര്‍ ഒപ്പം നില്‍ക്കുമ്പോഴും മാധ്യമങ്ങളിലും പൊതുവേദികളിലും വന്ന് സധൈര്യം വേട്ടക്കാര്‍ക്ക് എതിരെ സംസാരിച്ചത് പാര്‍വതി തനിച്ചായിരുന്നു. വളരെ ചെറിയ പ്രായത്തില്‍ സിനിമയിലെ സഹപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരില്‍ നിന്നും അതിജീവിത നേരിട്ടതിന് സമാനമായ അനുഭവം തനിക്കുമുണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് അവര്‍ തുറന്നടിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ വേട്ടക്കാരുടെ പേരുകള്‍ വെളിപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ തയാറായില്ല. തനിക്ക് സംഭവിക്കാനുളളത് സംഭവിച്ചു. അതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ഇനി ആരെയും ക്രൂശിലേറ്റാനില്ല. പക്ഷേ, ഇത്തരം അനുഭവങ്ങള്‍ ഇനിയൊരു പെണ്‍കുട്ടിക്കുണ്ടാവരുത്. പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും അതിജീവിതയിലൂടെ ഇതെല്ലാം ആവര്‍ത്തിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു കണ്ട ഘട്ടത്തില്‍ വർദ്ധിതവീര്യത്തോടെ അവര്‍ പൊരുതി.

സിനിമയിലെ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ പഠിക്കാനുളള ഹേമാ കമ്മറ്റി എന്ന ആശയം ആ കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ ബുദ്ധിയില്‍ വിരിഞ്ഞതാണെങ്കിലും അത് യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യമാക്കാനുളള ഇച്ഛാശക്തിയില്‍ മറ്റാരേക്കാള്‍ മുന്നില്‍ നിന്നത് പാര്‍വതിയാണെന്നത് പരസ്യമായ രഹസ്യമായിരുന്നു. ആ ഘട്ടത്തില്‍ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം എന്ന മട്ടില്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അതിന് പിന്തുണ നല്‍കുകയും കമ്മറ്റി യാഥാര്‍ഥ്യമാകുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാല്‍ കമ്മറ്റി പൂര്‍ത്തികരിച്ച് സര്‍ക്കാരിന് കൈമാറിയ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് നാലര വര്‍ഷക്കാലം ഫ്രീസറില്‍ ഭദ്രമായി വിശ്രമിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ വേട്ടക്കാര്‍ പരിഹാസ ഭാവത്തില്‍ ചിരിച്ചു.

വല്ലാത്ത നിസഹായത വേട്ടയാടിയ ആ ഘട്ടത്തിലും പാര്‍വതി മാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെ അത് പുറത്ത് വരേണ്ടതിന്റെ ആവശ്യകതയെക്കുറിച്ച് സവിസ്തരം വിശദീകരിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ ആരും അത് കേട്ടതായി പോലും ഭാവിച്ചില്ല. അതിജീവിതയുടെ കേസിലും കമ്മറ്റി രൂപീകരണത്തിലും ഒപ്പം നിന്ന സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് പുറത്തു വിടുന്നതില്‍ അമാന്തം കാണിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ആരെയൊക്കെയോ രക്ഷിക്കാനുളള വ്യഗ്രത എന്ന തലത്തില്‍ സംശയിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

ഇടതുപക്ഷ മുഖമുളള പുരോഗമന വീക്ഷണം പുലര്‍ത്തുന്ന പാര്‍വതിയും റിമയും ആഷിഖ് അബുവും അടക്കമുളള യുവതലമുറ ആ സന്ദര്‍ഭത്തില്‍ നോക്കുകുത്തികളായി നിന്നു. മൂല്യബോധം തൊട്ടുതെറിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ചിലര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ വ്യക്തിതാത്പര്യം സംരക്ഷിക്കാനായി ഹേമാ കമ്മറ്റി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് പൂഴ്ത്തി വയ്പിച്ചു എന്ന് മാത്രമല്ല പിന്നീട് ബാഹ്യസമ്മര്‍ദ്ദങ്ങളാല്‍ പുറത്തു വന്ന  റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടിലെ കാതലായ ഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ തമസ്‌കരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഒന്നും സംഭവിക്കുകയില്ലെന്ന പ്രതീതി ജനിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. എന്നാല്‍ എല്ലാവരെയും അമ്പരപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് വിതുമ്പി നിന്ന അഗ്നിപര്‍വതം പൊട്ടിത്തെറിക്കുക തന്നെ ചെയ്തു. ആരും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാത്ത നിരവധി കലാകാരികള്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ തിക്താനുഭവങ്ങള്‍ പരസ്യമായി തന്നെ തുറന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. അക്കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ ഗീതാ വിജയനെ പോലെ, ശ്രീദേവികയെ പോലെ ഉഷയെ പോലെ പ്രശസ്തരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

വേട്ടക്കാര്‍ കുടുങ്ങുന്നു..

വേട്ടക്കാരില്‍ ചിലരുടെ ഭാവി തുലാസിലായി എന്ന് മാത്രമല്ല താരസംഘടനയുടെ പ്രതിച്ഛായ തന്നെ നാമാവശേഷമായി. മുന്നില്‍ നിന്ന് നയിക്കാന്‍ യോഗ്യനായ ഒരാളെ തേടി സംഘടന ഇരുട്ടില്‍ തപ്പുന്ന കാഴ്ചയും നാം കണ്ടു. പുരുഷന്‍മാരായ അംഗങ്ങളില്‍ നടന്‍ ജഗദീഷ് മാത്രം ഇരകള്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടി സംസാരിച്ചു. സിനിമയില്‍ പുതിയ വിപ്ലവം അരങ്ങേറുമ്പോള്‍ അതിന് ശുദ്ധീകരണപ്രക്രിയയുടെ മുഖം കൂടി ലഭിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഇതിനെല്ലാം നിമിത്തമായ അതിജീവിതയെ പലരും ഓര്‍മിച്ചു. ഡബ്ല്യുസിസി അംഗങ്ങള്‍ അടക്കം അത് സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളിൽ പോസ്റ്റുകളിട്ടു. എന്നാല്‍ മുന്നില്‍ നിന്ന് നയിച്ച പാര്‍വതിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ചലച്ചിത്ര പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ മൗനം പാലിച്ചു. പക്ഷേ, ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നടങ്കം പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ നേട്ടത്തിന്റെ മുഖ്യ അവകാശി പാര്‍വതിയാണ്. കാരണം മറ്റൊന്നല്ല. അവര്‍ക്കൊപ്പം പോരാട്ട വീഥിയില്‍ മുന്നണിയില്‍ നിന്ന പല അഭിനേത്രികളും സിനിമയില്‍ അത്ര സജീവമായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ പാര്‍വതി തന്റെ കരിയറിന്റെ പീക്കില്‍ ജ്വലിച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന സമയത്തായിരുന്നു വ്യക്തിഗതമായ നഷ്ടങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് ചിന്തിക്കാതെ ഒരു നിലപാടിനെ പിന്തുടരാന്‍ ധൈര്യം കാണിച്ചത്. അതിന് അവര്‍ നല്‍കേണ്ടി വന്ന വില വളരെ വലുതായിരുന്നു.

വേട്ടക്കാര്‍ നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കുന്ന എല്ലാ സിനിമകളില്‍ നിന്നും അവര്‍ തുടച്ചു നീക്കപ്പെട്ടു. നിലനില്‍പ്പും ഭീഷണിയും ഭയന്ന് അവരെ കാസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹമുളളവര്‍ പോലും പിന്‍മാറി. സിനിമകള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ നീണ്ട ഇടവേളകളുണ്ടായി. പലപ്പോഴും സിനിമകളില്ലെന്ന അവസ്ഥ തന്നെ നേരിട്ടു. അപ്പോഴൊക്കെ അവര്‍ സ്വന്തം മാതാപിതാക്കളോട് പറഞ്ഞു. ''മകള്‍ ഒരുപാട് പണം ഉണ്ടാക്കികൊണ്ടു വരുമെന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കരുത്. ഒരു വിവാഹം കഴിക്കുമെന്നും ഉറപ്പില്ല. വലിയ നടിയാകുമോയെന്നും അറിയില്ല. പക്ഷെ ഒരു നല്ല വ്യക്തിയായി ജീവിക്കുമെന്ന് നൂറുശതമാനം ഉറപ്പ്''.

പാര്‍വതിയുടെ യാത്ര ആ മനുഷ്യപക്ഷത്തേക്കായിരുന്നു. സഹപ്രവര്‍ത്തകയുടെ വേദന കാണാത്ത മട്ടില്‍ നടന്നു പോയവരും രണ്ടു വളളത്തില്‍ കാലുചവിട്ടി നിന്ന് നന്മമരം നടിച്ചവരും മുപ്പത് വെളളിക്കാശിന് ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്തവരും സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ വന്ന് ഫിലോസഫിക്കല്‍ തളള് നടത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ പാര്‍വതി കാര്യമാത്രപ്രസക്തമായി തന്നെ പറഞ്ഞു. ''അവള്‍ക്ക് നീതി ലഭിക്കണം. അവള്‍ക്ക് മാത്രല്ല, സിനിമയില്‍ എത്തിപ്പെടുന്ന ഓരോ പെണ്‍കുട്ടിക്കും സുരക്ഷിതമായി ജോലി ചെയ്യാന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന ഒരിടമായി സിനിമ മാറണം.''

അതൊരു ആജീവന്താന്ത പ്രതിജ്ഞയായിരുന്നു. ആദ്യന്തം അതില്‍ ഉറച്ചു നിന്ന് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു എന്നതാണ് പാര്‍വതിയുടെ മഹത്വം. റിമയും രമ്യയും ഗീതുവും പത്മപ്രിയയും രേവതിയും അടക്കം ഒപ്പം നില്‍ക്കാന്‍ 'ചങ്ക് സിസ്‌റ്റേഴ്‌സ്' ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നതും ചെറിയ കാര്യമല്ല. ഇടയ്ക്ക് ചെറിയ അപ്പക്കഷണങ്ങള്‍ തേടി ചിലര്‍ വഴിവിട്ട് പോയപ്പോഴും പാര്‍വതി തളര്‍ന്നില്ല. ആരെയും കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ല. ലക്ഷ്യബോധത്തോടെ നേരെ മുന്നോട്ട് തന്നെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.

‘അമ്മ’യിലെ കൂട്ടരാജി ഒളിച്ചോട്ടം; തുറന്നുപറയുന്നവരെ ആദ്യം ഇരുട്ടിലാക്കും, പിന്നെ വ്യക്തിഹത്യ: പാർവതി തിരുവോത്ത്

ഇതിനിടയില്‍ തേടി വന്ന അപൂര്‍വം സിനിമകളിലെ അവരുടെ പ്രകടനം നാഴികക്കല്ലായി മാറി. ഉയരെ, ടേക്ക് ഓഫ്, കൂടെ, പുഴു, തങ്കലാന്‍, ഉളെളാഴുക്ക്.. തനിക്ക് മാത്രം പൂര്‍ണതയിലെത്തിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളിലൂടെ സവിശേഷമായ ഒരു ഇരിപ്പിടം അവര്‍ സ്വയം വലിച്ചിട്ട് ഇരുന്നു. ഒരു കാലത്ത്, 'നിന്നെ കാണിച്ചു തരാമെടീ' എന്ന അര്‍ഥത്തില്‍ ഗോപ്യമായി ചിരിച്ചവര്‍ ഉറക്കമില്ലാത്ത രാത്രികളില്‍ ഉയരുന്ന ചങ്കിടിപ്പുകളും നെടുവീര്‍പ്പുകളുമില്ലാതെ തിരിഞ്ഞു മറിഞ്ഞും കിടന്നപ്പോള്‍ പാര്‍വതി സുഖമായുറങ്ങി. ഉണര്‍ന്നിരുന്ന പകലുകളില്‍ സ്വാസ്ഥ്യത്തോടെ മന്ദഹസിച്ചു. ചരിത്രം വഴിമാറുന്ന ഒരു കാലത്തിന് മുന്‍പെ നടന്നതിന്റെ നിര്‍വൃതിയോടെ. 

ആണധികാരത്തിന്റെ തേര്‍വാഴ്ച

രാജഭരണകാലത്തും ബ്രിട്ടിഷ് വാഴ്ചയുടെ കാലത്തും ഫ്യൂഡല്‍ പ്രഭുക്കന്‍മാര്‍ വിളയാടിയിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ പോലും കാണാത്ത ആണധികാരത്തിന്റെ തേര്‍വാഴ്ചയില്‍ നിന്നും മലയാള സിനിമയെ വിശേഷിച്ചും കലാകാരികളെ ഒരു പരിധി വരെയെങ്കിലും മോചിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നതാണ് പാര്‍വതി അടക്കമുളളവര്‍ നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കിയ കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ സവിശേഷത. എനിക്ക് കീഴ്‌പെട്ടില്ലെങ്കില്‍ നിന്നിലെ അഭിനേത്രി ഇനി ക്യാമറ കാണില്ല എന്ന് വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുന്നിടത്തോളം വളര്‍ന്ന ഔദ്ധത്യത്തിന്റെ മുഖമടച്ച് ഒരടി കൊടുക്കാന്‍ നിമിത്തമായി എന്ന തലത്തിലാണ് ഒന്നാം തരം നടി എന്നതിലുപരി പാര്‍വതിയെ ചരിത്രം അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തുക. 

ഒരു അഭിമുഖത്തില്‍ അവര്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു. "ആരെയും വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുകയോ എതിര്‍ക്കുകയോ ആര്‍ക്കെങ്കിലും എതിരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുകയോ തോല്‍പ്പിക്കുകയോ ഒന്നുമല്ല എന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശം. ഈ രംഗത്ത് പെണ്‍കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് സമാധാനമായി ജോലി ചെയ്യാന്‍ കഴിയണം. അതിനു വേണ്ടി മാത്രമാണ് ഞാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്. അതിനെ ഒരു പോരാട്ട വഴിയില്‍ എത്തിച്ചത് അപ്പുറത്ത് നില്‍ക്കുന്നവരാണ്. അവര്‍ ഏത് വിധേനയും ഈ ശ്രമത്തെ എതിര്‍ത്ത് തോല്‍പ്പിക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ തളരാതെ മുന്നോട്ട് പോകാന്‍ ഞങ്ങളും ബാധ്യസ്ഥരായി."

പുറമെ കാണും പോലെ കാരിരുമ്പിന്റെ പുറം ചട്ടയോ അകം ചട്ടയോ ളളള വ്യക്തിയൊന്നുമല്ല പാര്‍വതി. ഒരു നല്ല അഭിനന്ദനവാക്കിന് മുന്നില്‍ കണ്ണ് നിറയുന്ന, പെട്ടെന്ന് സങ്കടം വരുന്ന, ആത്മാര്‍ത്ഥമായി അടുപ്പം കാണിക്കുന്നവരെ അറിഞ്ഞ് സ്‌നേഹിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സാധാരണ  പെണ്‍കുട്ടി. സാഹചര്യങ്ങളാണ് അവരെ പോരാട്ടവീര്യമുളള കരുത്തുറ്റ സ്ത്രീയായി വളര്‍ത്തിയത്. എതിര്‍ക്കാന്‍ ശേഷിയില്ലാത്ത പ്രായത്തില്‍ നേരിട്ട തിക്താനുഭവങ്ങള്‍ ആ കരുത്ത് വളര്‍ത്തിയിരിക്കാം. അതിന്റെ തനിയാവര്‍ത്തനം സഹപ്രവര്‍ത്തകയുടെ ജീവിതത്തിലും സംഭവിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ അവരിലെ പോരാളി ഉണര്‍ന്നു. ഇന്ന് അതിന്റെ ഫലം കൊയ്യാന്‍ പോകുന്നത് സിനിമയിലെ പല തലമുറകളാണ്.

അനാവശ്യമായി ഒരു കലാകാരിയുടെ ദേഹത്ത് സ്പര്‍ശിക്കും മുന്‍പ് പലവട്ടം ആലോചിക്കും വരും കാലങ്ങളില്‍ വേട്ടക്കാര്‍. അവര്‍ക്കറിയാം പഴയതു പോലെ നിസാരമല്ല കാര്യങ്ങള്‍. ചോദിക്കാനും പറയാനും പഠിപ്പും തിരിച്ചറിവും തന്റേടവുമുളള ഒരു തലമുറ വളര്‍ന്നു കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കുന്നു. നിയമസംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ ജാഗരൂകമായിരിക്കുന്നു. വേട്ടക്കാരെ സംരക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ തുനിഞ്ഞ ഭരണാധികാരിയെ പോലും ജനം തിരുത്തുന്ന തലത്തിലേക്ക് കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അതിന് നിമിത്തമായത് പാര്‍വതി തിരുവോത്താണ്. അവര്‍ക്കറിയാം. എന്തിനും മടിക്കാത്ത ഒരു വലിയ സംഘം ചുറ്റിലുമുണ്ട്. വരും വരാഴികകളും പ്രത്യാഘാതങ്ങളും എത്ര വലുതാണെന്ന തിരിച്ചറിവിനിടയിലും പാര്‍വതി മുന്നോട്ട് വച്ച കാല്‍ പിന്നോട്ടെടുത്തില്ല. അവരുടെ ജീന്‍ അതായിരുന്നു. 1988 ഏപ്രില്‍ മാസം 7ന് സാമൂതിരിയുടെ നാടായ കോഴിക്കോട് അഭിഭാഷക ദമ്പതികളുടെ പുത്രിയായി ജനിച്ച പാര്‍വതിക്ക് കരുണാകരന്‍ എന്നൊരു സഹോദരന്‍ കൂടിയുണ്ട്.

അവതാരകയില്‍ നിന്നും അഭിനയത്തിലേക്ക്

സ്‌കൂള്‍ പഠനകാലത്ത് തലസ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് പറിച്ചു നട്ടു ആ കുടുംബം. പാങ്ങോട് കേന്ദ്രീയ വിദ്യാലയത്തില്‍ നിന്നും സ്‌കൂള്‍ പഠനം പുര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം ഓൾ സെയിന്റസ് കോളജില്‍ നിന്നും ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് സാഹിത്യത്തില്‍ ബിരുദമെടുത്തു. സൂര്യ ടിവിയുടെ സഹോദര സ്ഥാപനമായ കിരണ്‍ ടിവിയില്‍ തമിഴ് ഹിറ്റ്സ് എന്ന സംഗീത പരിപാടിയുടെ അവതാരകയായി കലാജീവിതം ആരംഭിച്ച പാര്‍വതി പിന്നീട് കൈരളി ടിവിയില്‍ 'ഹലോ ഗുഡ് ഈവനിങ്' എന്ന പരിപാടിയും അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.

കലാപരമായ കാര്യങ്ങളില്‍ വ്യാപരിക്കുമ്പോഴും ആഴത്തിലുളള പരന്ന വായന പാര്‍വതി കൂടെക്കൊണ്ടു നടന്നു. അതിലുപരി സമകാലിക വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ താത്പര്യമെടുക്കുകയും അതേക്കുറിച്ച് ചിന്തിക്കുകയും സ്വാഭിപ്രായം ആരുടെ മുന്നിലും തുറന്ന് പറയുന്നതും പാര്‍വതിയുടെ ശീലമായിരുന്നു. ഭംഗിയും തീക്ഷ്ണതയും സമന്വയിക്കുന്ന അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകളില്‍ ഒരു നടി എന്നതിനപ്പുറം നിലപാടുകളുളള ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുടെ ആര്‍ജ്ജവം പ്രകടമാണ്. 2006ല്‍ 'ഔട്ട് ഓഫ് സിലബസ്' എന്ന സിനിമയിലാണ് ആദ്യമായി മുഖം കാണിക്കുന്നത്. സപ്പോര്‍ട്ടിങ് ആക്ട്രസായി വന്ന ആ സിനിമ കരിയറില്‍ ഗുണം ചെയ്തില്ല. 'നോട്ട് ബുക്ക്' എന്ന സിനിമയിലെ മൂന്ന് നായികമാരില്‍ ഒരാളായി എത്തിയതോടെ ഒരു വിധം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. വിനോദയാത്രയില്‍ മുകേഷിന്റെ അനുജത്തി വേഷത്തില്‍. മലയാളത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് കന്നടയിലേക്ക് ചുവടു മാറ്റിയ പാര്‍വതി പുനീത് രാജ്കുമാറിന്റെ നായികയായി. പടം ബമ്പര്‍ ഹിറ്റ്. 

ഈ സമയത്ത് കന്നടയിലെ ഒരു മാധ്യമത്തില്‍ 'പാര്‍വതി തിരുവോത്ത് കോട്ടുവറ്റ' എന്ന പേര് 'പാര്‍വതി മേനോന്‍' എന്ന് തെറ്റായി അച്ചടിച്ചു വന്നു. ആ സമയത്ത് അതിനെ എതിര്‍ക്കാനോ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യാനോ അവര്‍ അപ്രാപ്തയായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ പില്‍ക്കാലത്ത് അവര്‍ ആരോ കല്‍പ്പിച്ചു നല്‍കിയ 'മേനോന്‍' എന്ന വിശേഷണം ചീന്തിയെറിഞ്ഞ് തന്റെ യഥാര്‍ഥ പേര് നിലനിര്‍ത്തി. സാധാരണ ഗതിയില്‍ ഒരിക്കല്‍ വീണുപോയ പേര് പിന്നീട് താരങ്ങള്‍ തിരുത്തിയ ചരിത്രമില്ല. (ആകെയുളള അപവാദം 'സ്‌ഫോടനം' എന്ന സിനിമയില്‍ സംവിധായകന്‍ പി.ജി.വിശ്വംഭരന്‍ 'സജിന്‍' എന്ന പേര് നല്‍കിയെങ്കിലും അടുത്ത ചിത്രം മുതല്‍ 'മമ്മൂട്ടി' എന്ന യഥാര്‍ഥപേര് നിലനിര്‍ത്താനുളള തന്റേടം പുതുമുഖ നടനായ മുഹമ്മദ്കുട്ടി കാണിച്ചു) എന്നാല്‍ ഒരു സ്ത്രീക്ക് ഇത്തരത്തില്‍ ഇടപെടാനുളള ധൈര്യം അന്യമായ സിനിമയില്‍ പാര്‍വതി താനാരാണെന്ന് കാണിച്ചു തന്നു. മിലാനയുടെ വന്‍വിജയത്തിന് ശേഷം അവര്‍ മാതൃഭാഷയായ മലയാളത്തില്‍ തിരിച്ചെത്തി. മോഹന്‍ലാലിനൊപ്പം അഭിനയിച്ച ഫ്‌ളാഷ് പ്രദര്‍ശന വിജയം കൈവരിച്ചില്ല.

വീണ്ടും അന്യഭാഷയിലേക്ക് ചേക്കേറി. 'പൂ' എന്ന പടത്തിലെ മാരി എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം കരിയറില്‍ അടുത്ത വിജയം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. പാര്‍വതിയിലെ സമര്‍പ്പിത മനസുളള കലാകാരിയുടെ തുടക്കം അവിടെ നിന്നാണ്. കമ്പനിത്തൊഴിലാളിയായ കഥാപാത്രത്തിനായി വെയില്‍ കൊണ്ട് നിറം കുറച്ചും ഒരു ഫാക്ടറിയില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്ത് തൊഴിലാളികളുടെ ജീവിതം അടുത്തറിഞ്ഞും മികച്ച തയ്യാറെടുപ്പുകള്‍ നടത്തി. സിനിമ കണ്ടവര്‍ ഒന്നടങ്കം പാര്‍വതിയെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ചു. അവര്‍ ആ കഥാപാത്രമായി ജീവിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. വീണ്ടും പുനീത് രാജ്കുമാറിനൊപ്പം കന്നടയില്‍. കന്നടയില്‍ സ്വയം ഡബ്ബ് ചെയ്ത് പുതിയ ചരിത്രം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുക കൂടി ചെയ്തു പാര്‍വതി.

2011ല്‍ സിറ്റി ഓഫ് ഗോഡ് എന്ന മലയാളപടം ചെയ്‌തെങ്കിലും ബോക്സ്ഓഫിസില്‍ വീണു. ധനുഷിനൊപ്പം മാരിയന്‍ എന്ന തമിഴ് ചിത്രത്തില്‍ അഭിനയിച്ചതോടെ വീണ്ടും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. മികച്ച നടിക്കുളള ഫിലിം ഫെയര്‍ അവാര്‍ഡ് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ നിരവധി പുരസ്‌കാരങ്ങള്‍ ഈ സിനിമയിലുടെ ലഭിച്ചു. 2014ല്‍ വീണ്ടും മലയാളത്തില്‍. അഞ്ജലി മേനോന്റെ ബാംഗ്ലൂർ ഡെയ്‌സിലെ ആര്‍.ജെ, നായികയല്ലാതിരുന്നിട്ടും മികച്ച അഭിനയമുഹൂര്‍ത്തങ്ങള്‍ വഴി ചര്‍ച്ചയായി.

ചാര്‍ലി, എന്ന് നിന്റെ മൊയ്തീന്‍... വളരെ കുറച്ച് സിനിമകളിലൂടെ കൂടുതല്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന പ്രകടനം വഴി പാര്‍വതി പ്രേക്ഷക മനസുകളില്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു. എണ്ണപ്പെരുക്കത്തേക്കാള്‍ ഗുണനിലവാരമാണ് വലുതെന്ന തിരിച്ചറിവ് അവരെ എക്കാലവും നയിച്ചു. തേടി വരുന്ന ഓഫറുകളില്‍ നിന്ന് ഉത്തമബോധ്യമുളളത് മാത്രം തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. പല നായികമാരും നായകന്റെ നിഴലായി ഒതുങ്ങി നിന്നപ്പോള്‍ നായകനേക്കാള്‍  തലപ്പൊക്കമുളള വേഷങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്ത് പാര്‍വതി മിന്നിത്തിളങ്ങി. ഉയരെയും ടേക്ക് ഓഫും വൈറസും അവരുടെ കരിയര്‍ ബസ്റ്റായി വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടു. മികച്ചനടിക്കുളള സംസ്ഥാന പുരസ്‌കാരം രണ്ട് തവണ  തേടിയെത്തി.

വിവാദപരാമര്‍ശവും ഫാന്‍സ് ആക്രമണവും

‘കസബ’ എന്ന സിനിമയിലെ സ്ത്രീവിരുദ്ധ പരാമര്‍ശം നിറഞ്ഞ സീനീല്‍ അഭിനയിച്ചതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ മമ്മൂട്ടിയെ വിമര്‍ശിച്ചതോടെ ഫാന്‍സുകാര്‍ പാര്‍വതിക്ക് എതിരെ അതിരൂക്ഷമായ സൈബര്‍ ആക്രമണം അഴിച്ചുവിട്ടു. എന്നാല്‍ അതേ മമ്മൂട്ടിക്കൊപ്പം തന്നെ പില്‍ക്കാലത്ത് തന്റെ ‘പുഴു’ എന്ന സിനിമയില്‍ പാര്‍വതിക്ക് അഭിനയിച്ചു. പാര്‍വതിയുടെ ഉദ്ദേശശുദ്ധിയും നന്മയും തിരിച്ചറിയപ്പെട്ടു എന്നതിന്റെ ഉത്തമദൃഷ്ടാന്തമായിരുന്നു ആ സിനിമ.

സഹപ്രവര്‍ത്തക അതിക്രൂരമായ പീഡനം ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങിയപ്പോള്‍ അവസരങ്ങള്‍ക്കായി കംഫര്‍ട്ട് സോണുകള്‍ തേടിപോയ ചില നായികമാര്‍ക്കൊപ്പം നില്‍ക്കാതെ പാര്‍വതി അവള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം നിന്നു. വ്യക്തിഗതമായ നഷ്ടങ്ങളേക്കാള്‍ നിലപാടുകള്‍ക്ക് അവര്‍ മൂന്‍തൂക്കം നല്‍കി. സിനിമയില്‍ കാലാകാലങ്ങളായി സ്ത്രീകള്‍ അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന നരക യാതനകള്‍ക്കും അഭിമാനക്ഷതത്തിനും ശാശ്വതമായ പരിഹാരം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയെടുക്കുക എന്ന സദുദ്ദേശം മാത്രമായിരുന്നു മനസില്‍. മറ്റൊരു മേഖലയിലും ഇല്ലാത്ത സ്ത്രീവിരുദ്ധത അതിന്റെ എല്ലാ ആസുരഭാവങ്ങളോടും സിനിമയില്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു നില്‍ക്കുന്നു എന്ന തിരിച്ചറിവായിരുന്നു അവരുടെ മൂലധനം. വ്യക്തിപരമായി നേരിട്ട തിക്താനുഭവങ്ങള്‍ അതിന് ആക്കം കൂട്ടി. ഹേമാ കമ്മറ്റിയുടെ രൂപീകരണവും താത്കാലികമായ പൂഴ്ത്തി വയ്ക്കലും അവസാനിച്ച് അതിന്റെ പുറത്തേക്കുളള വരവും മറ്റും മലയാള സിനിമയില്‍ വിപ്ളവകരമായ മാറ്റങ്ങളുടെ തുടക്കമായിരുന്നു.

പാര്‍വതിയായിരുന്നു ശരിയെന്ന് കാലം തെളിയിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അവര്‍ മുറുകെ പിടിച്ച നിലപാടുകളും അതിനെ പിന്തുണച്ച ഒരു പറ്റം സ്ത്രീകളും ഒരു കാലത്ത് ഫെമിനിച്ചി എന്ന ഓമനപേരില്‍  പരിഹസിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ കാലം അവരുടെ പരിഹാസ്യമായ മുഖം തുറന്ന് കാട്ടിയപ്പോള്‍ കേരളസമൂഹം ഒന്നടങ്കം പാര്‍വതിയെ പോലുളളവരെ ആദരണീയമായ സ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചു. വ്യക്തിപരമായ നഷ്ടങ്ങളും ഏറെ മാനസിക പീഡനങ്ങളും സഹിച്ച് ശരിക്കും പൊരുതി നേടിയതാണ് ഈ വിജയം.

ഇന്ന് നന്മയുടെ മുഖംമൂടിയണിഞ്ഞ  പൊയ്മുഖങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നൊന്നായി അനാവൃതമാകുമ്പോള്‍ ജനം പാര്‍വതിയെ പോലുളളവരെ നോക്കി കയ്യടിക്കുന്നു. ഒരു സ്ത്രീ/ഒരു പറ്റം സ്ത്രീകള്‍ വിചാരിച്ചാല്‍ വന്‍മരങ്ങള്‍ മേയുന്ന ഒരു മേഖലയെ പിടിച്ചു കുലുക്കാമെന്ന് പാര്‍വതിയും കൂട്ടരും തെളിയിച്ചു. 'നീയൊക്കെ വിചാരിച്ചാല്‍ ഈ നാട്ടില്‍ എന്ത് നടക്കാനാണ്' എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചവരുടെ മുഖത്തേറ്റ അടിയാണ് വാസ്തവത്തില്‍ ഇന്ന് നാം കാണുന്ന മാറ്റങ്ങള്‍. തിരുവായ്ക്ക് എതിര്‍വായില്ല എന്ന അവസ്ഥയില്‍ നിന്നാണ് ഇതെല്ലാം സംഭവിച്ചത്.

സിനിമയിലെ സ്ത്രീവിരുദ്ധത ഗൗരവപൂര്‍വം അന്വേഷിച്ച് നടപടിയെടുക്കാനായി ഒരു അന്വേഷണ സംഘത്തെ തന്നെ രൂപീകരിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു സര്‍ക്കാരിന്. കുറ്റാരോപിതരായ ചലച്ചിത്രപ്രവർത്തകർക്ക് എതിരെ കേസ് രജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. മലയാള സിനിമ മാറുകയാണ്. സ്ത്രീകളോട് എന്തും ആകാമെന്ന ധിക്കാരവും താന്‍പോരിമയും ഇനി വകവച്ചു തരില്ലെന്ന് ഒരു ജനസമൂഹത്തെ കൊണ്ട് പറയിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നതാണ് പാര്‍വതി പ്രതിനിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്ന കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ നേട്ടം. മനുഷ്യത്വവിരുദ്ധതയും മനുഷ്യാവകാശ ലംഘനവും മുഖമുദ്രയായി കൊണ്ടു നടന്നവരുടെ ചങ്കിടിപ്പേറുമ്പോള്‍ ചങ്കുറപ്പോടെ പാര്‍വതി ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്.

തന്റെ നിലപാടുകള്‍ ശരിയാണെന്ന് പൊതുസമൂഹം അംഗീകരിച്ചതിന്റെ പേരില്‍. പിന്നെ വേട്ടക്കാര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ സിനിമകള്‍ക്ക് ഇനി ആള് കയറുമോയെന്ന് ഭയപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍ പാര്‍വതിയുടെ ഏറ്റവും പുതിയ തമിഴ് ചിത്രമായ തങ്കലാന്‍ തിയറ്ററുകള്‍ നിറയ്ക്കുന്നു. എന്തൊരു വൈരുദ്ധ്യം അല്ലേ? ഒരുപക്ഷെ കാലത്തിന്റെ കാവ്യനീതി ഇതായിരിക്കാം. പാര്‍വതിയുടെ ജീവിതം നമ്മോട് പറയുന്നു. അഭിനയം സിനിമയില്‍ മതി ജീവിതത്തില്‍ അതിന് പ്രസക്തിയില്ല.  ഹാറ്റ്‌സ് ഓഫ് യു പാര്‍വതി. ആണധികാരത്തിന് വഴങ്ങിക്കൊടുത്ത് സിനിമകള്‍ വാരിക്കൂട്ടാതെ അവസരങ്ങള്‍ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുമെന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ആര്‍ജവത്തോടെ എതിര്‍ത്തു നിന്ന് നീതി നടപ്പിലാക്കിയ നിങ്ങളാണ് യഥാര്‍ഥ ലേഡി സൂപ്പര്‍സ്റ്റാര്‍!
