I spent thousands of dollars in 2011 on a trip booked with Karen Ackerman, who is the owner of this agency. Being a loyal customer, I went back to Karen to plan a trip with friends in Europe and she was nothing but rude to me from the start. I had SIMPLE requests and I get back from her how a deposit is required because her staff dedicates so much time to looking into deals. Note we weren't even sure in a destination yet! We were just asking about ideas from her. Again I had already dropped 6000 dollars a few years before, but I guess the word loyal customer does not register with this agency. They are obviously too inexperienced to handle anything further then your basic request. Go somewhere else where you don't feel like your doing them a favor!

I booked a family cruise with Karen's Agency (All-Ways Travel) and find the agency goes above and beyond to offer the best possible pricing at any cost to there time involved. This process can be very time consuming but Karen has been wonderful. When the cost might have been reduced she calls me to make me aware of what changes can be made to make my trip even better. Her staff is behind her 100%. Karen's mother works at the Agency part time and always adds to the positive results. To say this is a team that works as a family is an under statement. Scores of Newark flights canceled after global tech outage as airlines rush to get back on track

Airlines are scrambling to get their computer systems back online after long disruptions following a widespread technology outage that impacted people around the world. AP

Airlines, other transportation providers, businesses and governments on Saturday are scrambling to get all their computer systems back online after long disruptions following a widespread technology outage that impacted people all worldwide.

The biggest continuing effect of the tech outage has been on air travel. Carriers canceled thousands of flights on Friday and now have many of their planes and crews in the wrong place, while airports face continued problems with checking-in and security on Saturday.

At the heart of the massive disruption is CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm that provides software to scores of companies worldwide. The company says the problem occurred when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows, noting that the issue behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack.

Germany’s IT security agency says numerous companies are still struggling with the consequences of a far-reaching technology outage. While many impacted areas have returned to normal, the agency warned that cybercriminals were trying to take advantage of the situation through phishing, fake websites and other scams and that “unofficial” software codes was circulating.

The agency said it was unclear how faulty code ended up in the CrowdStrike software update blamed for triggering the outage.

Hundreds of flights at Newark canceled

The tech outage has had a big impact on flights departing many major airports, including Newark Liberty International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport, according to data from FlightAware , a website that tracks airline delays and cancellations.

FlightAware reported scores of flight cancellations during the past 24 hours (from late Friday morning through late Saturday morning), including these:

• Newark : 254 flight cancellations, including 32 today
• LaGuardia : 237 flight cancellations, including 46 today
• JFK : 132 flight cancellations, including 32 today
• Philadelphia : 93 flight cancellations, including 8 today

Overall, FlightAware reported 1,668 flight cancellations and 3,015 flight delays across the U.S. on Saturday, as of the early afternoon.

European airports getting close to normal

Europe’s busiest airport, Heathrow, said it is busy but operating normally on Saturday. The airport said in a statement that “all systems are back up and running and passengers are getting on with their journeys smoothly.”

About 167 flights scheduled to depart from U.K. airports on Friday were canceled, while 171 flights due to land were axed.

Meanwhile, flights at Berlin Airport were departing on or close to schedule, German news agency dpa reported, citing an airport spokesman. Nineteen flights took off in the early hours of Saturday after authorities exempted them from the usual ban on night flights.

On Friday, 150 of the 552 scheduled inbound and outbound flights at the airport were canceled over the IT outage, disrupting the plans of thousands of passengers at the start of the summer vacation season in the German capital.

Britain’s travel and transport industries are struggling to get back on schedule after the global security outage with airline passengers facing cancellations and delays on the first day of summer holidays for many school pupils.

Gatwick Airport said “a majority” of scheduled flights were expected to take off. Manchester Airport said passengers were being checked in manually, and there could be last-minute cancellations.

The Port of Dover said it was seeing an influx of displaced air passengers, with hourlong waits to enter the port to catch ferries to France.

Meanwhile, Britain’s National Cyber Security Center warned people and businesses to be on the lookout for phishing attempts as “opportunistic malicious actors” try to take advantage of the outage.

The National Cyber Security Center’s former head, Ciaran Martin, said the worst of the crisis was over “because the nature of the crisis is that it went very wrong very quickly. It was spotted quite quickly, and essentially it was turned off.”

He told Sky News that some businesses would be able to get back to normal very quickly, but for sectors such as aviation, it would take longer.

“If you’re in aviation, you’ve got people, planes and staffs all stranded in the wrong place… So we are looking at days. I’d be surprised if we’re looking at weeks.”
