IRCTC tourism As a subsidiary of the Indian Railways , the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) manages the tourism, online ticketing and catering for the fourth largest rail network in the world. It offers domestic packages as part of the IRCTC tourism . You can book from the various IRCTC packages for your preferred destination while booking train tickets, opting for car rentals or even looking for flights. The Indian Railways conceptualised and built IRCTC to bolster tourism by tying up with travel agents, tour operators, and hotels. Around 14 lakh people book through IRCTC in a day which gives the railways a huge advantage to provide its customers with hospitality services. And it was only judicious of the Railways to introduce IRCTC tour packages to draw on the high traffic that the site receives.

IRCTC is a one-stop portal for everything a traveller needs, be it a hotel reservation, transport, restaurant selection, or information on domestic and even international destinations. You can explore the vibrant city of Amritsar by booking the Amritsar Rail Tour Package in Swarna Shatabdi Express starting at Rs. 5,545. Visit Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh which are among the most important historical sites in the city. The package also covers Wagah Border in this 1 night/2 days trip.

One of the most important shrine in Hinduism is Vaishno Devi dedicated to the Goddess Shakti. Situated at an altitude of 5,200 ft you can visit the temple by choosing the 3 night/4 days train package departing from New Delhi Railway Station in Uttar Sampark Kranti Express, Non AC Sleeper Class to reach Katra station. The package starts at Rs 2,490.

The package lasts for 7 nights/8 days and costs around Rs. 21,715 and starts from Kolkata. You will spend a night in Guwahati, three nights in Shillong and a night in Kaziranga on this tour. Visit one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in the country which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will receive breakfast and dinner along with travel insurance as package inclusion.

A popular pilgrimage site in the country, Shirdi draws in a number of tourists every year. This tour package covers Shirdi, Shani, and Nasik in a span of three days. It covers places like Indore, Ujjain, Habibganj, Betul, Nagpur, Trivandrum, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Rameshwaram.

Maharajas' Express:

IRCTC operates and manages one of the best luxury trains in India - the Maharajas’ Express. The train celebrates India’s regal past by offering leisurely journeys covering the erstwhile princely states in the country. The train features two fine- dining restaurants, a lounge bar, and a reading area. Out of its journeys the longest are the Indian Splendour and the Indian Panorama. IRCTC gains 2% on joining hands with DMRC, CRIS for 'One India-One Ticket' initiative

S hares of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism (IRCTC) rose by 2 percent to Rs 1,041 per share on July 11, following a collaboration between the Delhi Metro Corporation (DMRC) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to promote the 'One India-One Ticket' initiative. This initiative aims to improve the travel experience for Main Line Railway and Metro passengers in the Delhi National Capital Region.

So far this year, shares of IRCTC jumped over 16 percent, outperforming 11 percent rise in the benchmark Nifty 50 index. Earlier, IRCTC had hit 52-week high of Rs 1,148 per share on May 22, 2024.

With this new facility, Delhi Metro Rail QR Code-based tickets can now be booked via the IRCTC website and mobile app, with a full version launch expected soon. These Metro tickets, bookable up to 120 days in advance and synchronized with Indian Railways' Advance Reservation Period (ARP), are valid for four days, simplifying travel planning for passengers.

A QR code for each passenger will be printed or available in the Electronic Reservation Slip from IRCTC. Currently, single-journey tickets for the Delhi Metro can only be booked on the day of travel and are valid for the same day.

This initiative allows DMRC-IRCTC QR code-based tickets to be synchronized with Indian Railways' ARP, enabling passengers to book Metro tickets up to 120 days in advance. These Metro tickets will be valid for a single journey over a four-day period, starting from the day before the DMRC journey date, the travel date itself, and the two days following the journey date.

This joint effort will enhance the travel experience for railway passengers by allowing them to book Delhi Metro tickets at the rail ticket confirmation page, integrating it with either the source or destination station in the Delhi/NCR region, according to IRCTC.

IRCTC, DMRC and CRIS launch ‘One India-One Ticket’ initiative

July 10, 2024: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), in collaboration with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has introduced the ‘One India-One Ticket’ initiative aimed at ensuring a seamless travel experience for Main Line Railway and Metro passengers in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) area.

According to a press release, the move will enable Delhi Metro commuters to book QR code-based tickets directly through the IRCTC website and mobile application. This integration marks a significant step towards simplifying travel logistics by enabling seamless ticketing across different modes of transport within the region.

The newly facility will allow passengers to book Delhi Metro tickets up to 120 days in advance, synchronising with the Indian Railways’ Advance Reservation Period (ARP). These QR code-based tickets are valid for four days, providing flexibility for travel planning.

Currently, single-journey tickets for Delhi Metro can only be purchased on the day of travel with same-day validity. The new system will enable advance booking, ensuring smoother travel arrangements for commuters across both rail and metro networks.

Passengers booking rail tickets that either originate or terminate within Delhi/NCR region can seamlessly include Delhi Metro tickets during their booking process. Moreover, the initiative supports flexible cancellations and ensures that one DMRC QR code per passenger is integrated into the Electronic Reservation Slip of IRCTC.
