2022 Comeback Tours – Which Artists Are Touring This Year?

2022 tours are looking robust as live events try for a comeback. Here’s what to expect this year and who is touring.

The Who have announced a brand new tour for 2022 dubbed, ‘The Who Hits Back!’ The band’s North American leg is kicking off on April 22 in Florida with several dates available. General admission tickets go on sale on Friday, February 11 at 10 am at LiveNation.com .

Country touring superstar Kenny Chesney’s Here And Now 2022 tour is kicking off on April 23. Chesney will play 20 newly announced amphitheater dates and 21 stadium concerts. Tickets for the tour will go on sale February 11 at 10 am on KennyChesney.com .

Ringo Starr has also revealed the updated All Starr Band itinerary and line-up for his 2022 tour in May and June. All Starrs include Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Gregg Bissonette, Hamish Stuart and Edgar Winter. The tour kicks off in Ontario before continuing through New England and down the East Coast. It’s the first tour for Ringo since the pandemic derailed his 2020 touring plans.

Billie Eilish also kicked off her Happier Than Ever, The World Tour this weekend in New Oreleans. Eilish performed for 90 minutes to a sold-out audience, performing many of her chart-topping hits like “bury a friend,” “bad guy,” and “ocean eyes.”

The Weeknd's previously scheduled After Hours arena tour was rescheduled not once but twice, before The Weeknd scrapped the tour altogether and announced his new plan. He'll now be kicking off his After Hours 'til Dawn stadium tour in summer 2022. While the particulars are still forthcoming, you can expect songs from his new era (like "Take My Breath") to be incorporated into the show. After rescheduling his tour to 2022, The Weeknd also added shows and switched up the venues to accommodate more fans. The After Hours Tour starts in January.

Sparks are celebrating their award-winning post-millennial renaissance with an world tour, including the biggest North American run of their remarkable career. North American dates officially get underway Friday, March 11 at San Francisco, CA’s historic Warfield Theatre and continue through early April, followed by eagerly awaited shows in the UK and Europe. Sparks began came back to the stage for the first time last month with a pair of triumphant, sold-out hometown shows at Los Angeles, CA’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, both of which were met by critical applause from such outlets as Consequence , which declared, “The pair’s chemistry and performance of material old and new, was full of life, flowing flawlessly throughout the 25-song setlist…The Maels provided a collage of their long and unconventional career with songs that showcased their fantastical lyricism and signature genre-blends of bubblegum, electro and pop…A performance that was sonically theatrical in mood and pitch-perfect in execution.”

There’s never been a better time to be a Sparks fan. Levels of interest in the work of Ron and Russell Mael are at a height unseen since their 1970s breakthrough.

2021’s acclaimed career-spanning documentary film , The Sparks Brothers, directed by Edgar Wright ( Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver ), brought an awareness of Sparks to parts they previously hadn’t reached. Their 2021 film musical Annette , directed by Leos Carax and starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard, has been showered with awards, especially in France where Carax won “Best Director” at Cannes, and where the film won three Lumières Awards and five top César Awards, including a prestigious “Best Original Score” prize for Ron and Russell. The ultimate cult band are suddenly center stage, in the full beam of the spotlight.

Thanks for paying attention to Sparks. This tour however, is not their biggest ever American run. They had larger tours in North-America in 1976, 1982 and 1983. For those interested in Sparks, you might want to visit the fanmael.nl website.

MUSIC Of The SPHERES World Tour announced    

Ahead of tomorrow’s release of Music Of The Spheres, the band have just announced an accompanying global stadium tour in 2022.

The Music Of The Spheres World Tour begins on 18 March 2022 with the band’s first ever show in Costa Rica, before travelling to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, USA, Germany, Poland, France, Belgium and the UK. There’s no doubt that a new K-Beauty product is always trending, especially when a K-Celeb is the face of said product. In recent news, we’ve seen big names like SEVENTEEN’s WonWoo named as the new model of Korean beauty brands like The Face Shop , ZEROBASEONE becoming the new faces of COLORGRAM , and RIIZE becoming the new models of ETUDE , and many more.

There is an abundance of K-Beauty brands with K-Celebs as the face/model/ambassador of the brand - and fans are dedicated to buying these products to support their favorite K-Pop idol or Korean actor. The Olive Young top product ranking (of Apr. 25, 2024) is a great example of this. Out of the 8 products shown, 4 of them have K-Celebs (namely MONSTA X's HyungWon , Go YounJung , 2AM's Jo Kwon , and ZEROBASEONE's Kim JiWoong ) as the face of the product, which can increase the odds of consumers buying the product.

If you've ever wondered why brands opt to add celebrities to their marketing campaigns, a look at the following data from 2021 by LaunchMetrics proves the impact that Korean celebrities (namely BLACKPINK's Jennie and JiSoo , and BIGBANG's G-Dragon ) have had on international luxury brands for fashion and cosmetics (which has only grown stronger since then).

If that is the impact that K-Celebs can have on international brands, then it goes without saying that they would have a similar impact on local K-Beauty brands, too.

However, recently fans have been raising the question wondering why K-Celebrities (especially veterans and big names) don't venture into creating their own cosmetics and beauty brands. If they did, surely they'd make a lucrative profit from their fans' support...

In the case of the Western world, artists like Beyoncé , Selena Gomez , and Rihanna have infiltrated the global beauty market with their respective brands. Beyoncé has recently gone viral for her content utilizing her hair care products Cécred , Selena Gomez has become a sensation on social media with her cosmetics brand Rare Beauty , and Rihanna has also created a cosmetics brand that is a staple on the dressing tables of many in the form of Fenty Beauty . So, why don't K-Celebrities leverage their fandoms and take the leap?

The K-Beauty Celebrity Cosmetics Landscape Is Not Non-Existent

If you're looking for K-Celebrity cosmetics, but feeling bleak because you can't find any, then don't despair. There is one brand that you can seek out!

That's not to say that K-Pop idols haven't ventured into creating their own cosmetics brands at all. Jeon SoMi is one of the first K-Pop idols to attempt her own cosmetics line.

She launched the makeup brand GLYF which she had been working on since 2023.

Negative Reactions To A K-Celebrity Makeup Line

However, the product launch was met with some pushback from netizens as they questioned her intention/sincerity and the pricing of the product.

Some argued that Jeon SoMi's first product, the ILLUÉTTE Highlighter Palette (four colors) at 43,000 Korean won (about 31.39 USD), is too expensive.

Whilst this sentiment spread across communities, to be objective, similar celebrity brands in the West charge similarly or even more. The Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter (one or two colors) retails for 74,100 Korean won (about 54.02 USD) and the Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter (one color) retails for 25 USD (about 34,274 Korean won).

On the other hand, if you compare a similar highlighter palette (with 4 colors) from the Korean brand IPKN called the IPKN Flap One Face Palette , it retails for 32,000 Korean won (about 23.23 USD).

Taking these brands into consideration, Jeon SoMi's product is slightly on the pricey side but not entirely out of reach. It is up to consumers to buy a product in their comfortable price range.

The Likeliness Of More K-Celebs Opening Brands In Future

Whilst K-Pop idols are at a career and popularity advantage to launch products in the form of beauty and fashion brands, there might be some hesitance on their part due to potential backlash from fans. Jeon SoMi is one case study, but so is former Girls' Generation member Jessica Jung , who faced backlash from her agency when trying to launch her current fashion brand BLANC & ECLARE .

Some fans perceive pursuing businesses like this as a distraction and a lack of dedication to being an idol. Even in the West, Rihanna has received a lot of backlash for not releasing music and focusing solely on her beauty brand, for example.

As K-Pop fandom prioritizes a relationship with the K-Pop idol, for instance, whilst there might be an outpouring of support for the idol's brand - fans might not like the change in focus.

There is also the issue of K-Pop idols losing out on much-needed brand deals essential to marketing their groups or themselves. This is because beauty brand models are usually tied to only promoting that specific brand due to exclusivity clauses in the contract.

Lastly, and naturally, creating a brand in a saturated market is also a huge risk that K-Celebs may not have the time or energy to take on. Especially in South Korea, where K-Beauty giants such as Olive Young rule the day, it might be difficult to navigate the brands under that umbrella and other competitors. Even a brand (distributor) as huge as Sephora (selling international brands) has had to close down operations in South Korea due to being unable to beat the local K-Beauty market.

If competition can be this fierce between distributors, then it will undoubtedly be just as fierce amongst actual brand competitors.

However, there is still hope that more K-Celebs will take the leap to create products that can help fans feel closer to or like them.

The person who wants this collaboration even more than us is probably Shotaro himself. TaeMin is Shotaro's role model and as we all know, TaeMin is one of the best, if not THE best dancer in K-Pop. A collaboration between the reigning King and a rising Prince would be fantastic, to say the least. Both dancers have their own unique groove and style that, we believe, would complement each other wonderfully.

Another dancing machine whose talent knows no bounds, Hoshi would be perfect for a dance collaboration with Shotaro. With both Hoshi and Shotaro being sunshine personified, this collab would break the internet for being the coolest and the cutest at the same time. We can already imagine the two idols getting along well together and we would love to see them come up with an original choreography.

If we're talking about the best of the best when it comes to dance, we cannot possibly forget Lay Zhang . The idol recently made his comeback on Korean music shows with his latest song 'Psychic'. With the man, the myth, and the legend back, we would love to see him dance with SM's rising star, Shotaro. From one dance prodigy to another, this could be a collaboration that's truly one of a kind.

4. Shotaro x KISS OF LIFE's Natty

Widely recognized as one of the it-girls of K-Pop right now, Natty is an outstanding dancer, to say the least. A collaboration between the two 5th-generation dance icons - Natty and Shotaro, would make the headlines for days. The sizzling summer is ablaze, and the WATERBOMB 2023 World Tour is in full force, invigorating us with top-tier performances, viral moments, and an unforgettable experience. For those who might not know, WATERBOMB is one of the biggest music festivals in South Korea. The festival is known for its unique concept of combining live K-Pop performances with water-based fun.

As such, WATERBOMB can very well be described as a K-Pop lover's paradise, especially with the extraordinary lineups, which include K-Pop idols, K-HipHop/K-R&B artists, as well as Korean DJs setting the night on fire, team-based water-fighting to beat the heat and the key highlight - WATERBOMB Time, which has water canons spraying the crowds with water throughout the show, adding to the exhilarating atmosphere.

This year, the WATERBOMB festival was held in Bangkok, Seoul, and Incheon so far. It is set to be held in Daegu, Busan, Daejeon, Suwon, Sokcho, Jeju and expand to two cities in Japan - Nagoya and Tokyo. This list would not be valid without the WATERBOMB queen herself, SunMi. Billie Eilish is embarking on a world tour in support of her forthcoming third album, “ Hit Me Hard and Soft ,” set for release on May 17.

The Live Nation-produced tour will kick off in September in Quebec and continue through North America until December. In February 2025, Eilish will hit Australia, followed by Europe, the U.K. and Ireland from April to late July.

Tickets will be available for presale for American Express cardholders on April 30, with additional presales running throughout the week. General tickets go on sale May 3 through Ticketmaster .

Jay Rock, Metro Boomin, Punch and More React to Kendrick Lamar's Drake Diss "Euphoria"

Kendrick Lamar got support among his rap peers on X after the surprise drop of his latest Drake diss track "Euphoria."

Some hip-hop heavyhitters rallied in support of Kendrick Lamar after the rapper dropped his fiery Drake diss track "Euphoria."

Shortly after Lamar debuted the follow-up to his "Like That" collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin , his bars on Drake's AI "gimmicks," parenting , and women caused an uproar on social media. Among those who responded to "Euphoria" were his rap peers, like Jay Rock , Gunna , Daylyt , Metro Boomin and Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence "Punch" Henderson .

Daylyt called out DJ Akademiks for his constant defense of Drake and putting Kendrick on a timer for a response, telling the media personality to "start yo clock" and to "keep that same [energy] hahah."

Metro, who's played a vital role in the feud and even caught a "play some drums" stray from Drake on "Push Ups," threw out some laughing emojis and a drumming GIF.

Dismissing Drake's use of AI on "Taylor Made Freestyle," which has been largely scrubbed from the internet, Jay Rock hyped up his former TDE labelmate, writing, "Now this ain't no AI... see I know Kdot!! Euphoria."

He continued, "N***a got fried like a nice golden brown wing lol... dropped that n***a in that grease for 6 mins 40 something secs. Fried em."

Henderson's message was more simplistic, writing "Well," just days after going shade-for-shade with Young Money Entertainment president Mack Maine .

Top Dawg also added that "Dot still the king."

More reactions came from Reason and Glasses Malone, who both sided with Kendrick and co-signed his diss track.

All the U.S. Tours From Latin Artists Announced for 2024 (Updating)

2023 marked a significant year in touring for Latin acts across multiple genres, including reggaetón, música mexicana and pop. They represent a wide-ranging crop of artists who've diversified the Billboard touring charts, according to the year-end Boxscore chart . More and more Spanish-language artists also toured stadiums, as was the case for Fuerza Regida , RBD and Karol G . The latter landed at No. 11 on the 2023 Top Tours chart, with $146.9 million and 843,000 tickets sold from just 19 dates of her Mañana Será Bonito U.S. stadium tour.

This new year looks to be just as promising.

Just days after dropping Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , Bad Bunny announced his 2024 Most Wanted U.S. Tour, produced by Live Nation and Rimas, which will kick off Feb. 21 in Salt Lake City and runs until May 26 in Miami. It's set to follow the hitmaker's World’s Hottest Tour stadium run, which along with his Ultimo Tour del Mundo arena run led to a  record-breaking  $435 million in tour grosses for Bad Bunny in 2022.

Brzilian superstar Anitta is set to embark on her 2024 Baile Funk Experience Tour. The 20-date global trek includes her first-ever North American leg. Other artists who are set to hit the road next year are Pepe Aguilar , Laura Pausini , Hombres G and Gloria Trevi .

Tour: Donde Todo Comenzó

Mexican sweetheart Alicia Villarreal is hitting the road in 2024 with her Donde Todo Comenzó tour, where she will take fans down to memory lane, performing her greatest hits from the '90s and today. The former Grupo Limite singer will visit 16 U.S. cities including Denver, Phoenix and Houston in the trek produced by Live Nation. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, Dec. 15, at www.livenation.com .

Tour: Cerrando Ciclos

Romeo Santos  and  Aventura  are reuniting once again for their 2024 Cerrando Ciclos trek. Produced by  CMN  Events, the 20-date trek will kick off May 1 in Sacramento, and wraps in Dallas on June 11, with two additional dates in Canada. The timeless bachata group — known for hits such as “Obsesion,” “Dile al Amor” and “Un Beso” — will also make pit stops in key U.S. cities including Los Angeles, New York and Miami.

Tour: Most Wanted Tour

In October, Bad Bunny announced he’s hitting the road in 2024 in support of his latest set, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana . The Most Wanted Tour, produced by Live Nation and Rimas, will kick off Feb. 21 in Salt Lake City and runs until May 26 in Miami, Fla. In between, Benito will make stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Houston, Atlanta and more U.S. cities.

Tour: Nuestro Lugar Feliz Tour

Produced by Loud and Live, Camilo's Nuestro Lugar Feliz tour will kick off Sept. 26 in Los Angeles. The nine-date trek announcement comes on the heels of the Colombian singer-songwriter's EP, titled Un , and his and Evaluna's pregnancy announcement. The couple is expecting baby No. 2. Tour: Mi Soundtrack World Tour

Mexican star Gloria Trevi will kick off her Soundtrack Tour in Hidalgo, Texas on Jan. 26, and is set to visit over 30 cities across the U. S., including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Miami. According to a press release, the concept of the tour was inspired by the release of Trevi's  Mi Soundtrack (Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) . For this trek, Trevi has tapped MAR Solis as the opening act for multiple shows on the first leg of the tour.

Tour: Hasta Siempre Tour

Los Temerarios is set to go on their last tour together in 2024, the iconic band announced in August along with the news that they were separating after 40 years together. "We will do [the tour] with the same love and respect that we’ve always done tours with," brothers Adolfo and Gustavo Ángel said in a statement.

Pepe Aguilar

Tour: Jaripeo Hasta Los Huesos Tour

Pepe Aguilar announced the return of his tour alongside his family, rooted in Mexican tradition, music and culture. This production will feature a new look with a theme that pays tribute to Mexico's Day of the Dead celebration. According to a press release, this new trek will "take the audience on a visual and musical journey that goes back to the origin of the Aguilar Dynasty through classic and favorite songs spanning several generations."

The 20-city tour kicks off with two nights at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on March 29 and 30 and then continues across the U.S. before concluding in Sacramento, Calif., at the Golden 1 Center on July 20. See the complete list of dates here .

Tour: Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour

Shakira announced the first leg of her 2024 Live Nation-promoted North American tour. Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour — named in honor of her new album of the same name — will play 14 arena shows across North America, beginning Nov. 2 in Palm Desert, Calif., and ending Dec. 15 in Detroit, Mich. This is Shakira’s first tour since her 2018 El Dorado World Tour, which took her to stadiums and arenas around the world. Shakira first hinted that she would be touring this year during her Q&A at Billboard  Latin  Music Week and her  Billboard  cover story last October.

Tour: Retromántico

Victor Manuelle is celebrating his 30th career anniversary with his new Retromántico tour kicking off in the Spring. Co-promoted by CMN Events and La Commission, the month-long stint, where the Puerto Rican artist will perform his biggest salsa hits, will kick off April 26 at Rosemont Theatre in Chicago and wrap in New York’s Beacon Theatre on May 25. Tickets for  Retromántico tour go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Friday (Feb. 2) via Ticketmaster and venue box offices.
