About Warren G:

The cultural influence of groundbreaking American rapper, record producer, media personality, philanthropist, and entrepreneur WARREN G (born Warren Griffin III) remains as urgent today as his 1994, multi-platinum-selling smash “Regulate.” Recorded with childhood friend and iconic superstar Nate Dogg, the track would define the rap genre and a generation. For three decades, Griffin has sold eight to ten million records worldwide. Today, he is crafting a new narrative, by extending his reach into the culinary arts, inspired by his family history.

As a solo artist, Griffin signed to Def Jam Records, collaborating with such artists as MC Breed and 2Pac. His early career breakthrough was achieved in 1992 when his vocal collaboration with Mista Grimm on the track “Indo Smoke,” which appeared on the Poetic Justice soundtrack. His creative momentum continued with significant contributions to Dr. Dre’s iconic 1992 debut album, The Chronic, including sampling for “Nuthin’ but a G-Thang,” a track that would be distinguished by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.” In 2019, Griffin found inspiration from his family history, this time in the culinary arts, by launching Sniffin Griffins BBQ sauces and rubs. As the artist reaches 50, his achievements in crafting music to reflect the sound and poetry of a generation are without compare. Now, Griffin has emerged as the “hip hop pit master,” eager to share a lifestyle that personifies joy, family, and celebration.

Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort, Warren G & Berner Announce ‘High School Reunion’ Tour

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa are joining forces for a star-studded North American trek this summer branded as the High School Reunion Tour.

The Mac & Devin Go to High School collaborators will be joined by Too $hort, Warren G, Berner, DJ Drama and more on the 33-city tour which will kick off North of the border in Vancouver on July 7.

Citi pre-sale tickets are available on Tuesday (March 7), while general admission tickets go on sale on  Ticketmaster on March 10 at 9 a.m. local time.

Look for the tour to make stops in Utha, Denver, St. Louis, Brooklyn, Virginia Beach, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Sacramento, Phoenix and wrap up with a show in Irvine, California on August 27.

News of the tour comes after Wiz and Snoop teased what some thought was a sequel to 2012’s  Mac & Devin Go To High School . However, it looks like it might have been teasing their newly announced tour.

“High school reunion comin summer 23 @wizkhalifa,” Snoop wrote in his post accompanied by a photo of him and Wiz in the studio together.

In his own  Instagram post of the photo, the Pittsburgh native declared him and Snoop “the new Cheech and Chong” while using the hashtag “#highschoolreuinion.”

Last week, the pair linked up for lonely stoner anthem  “Don’t Text Don’t Call.”

Prior to the High School Reunion Tour, Wiz will hit hit the road for a sprint through the Midwest as part of his seven-city The Good Trip Tour  alongside Joey Bada$$, Berner, Smoke DZA and Chevy Woods.

That trek kicks off on April 15 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and includes stops in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Lincoln and finishes up at Colorado’s famous Red Rocks Amphitheater on April 22.

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa also hinted at a sequel to 2012’s  Mac & Devin Go To High School  in the works .

Wiz Khalifa reflected on his friendship with Snoop Dogg in 2018 by showing love to Tha Doggfather, who he hailed as a “mentor” figure.

“Snoop is my homie, my homie, my mentor, my partner, my brother. It’s always good to have him involved and coaching me on,” Wiz told  Build .

“The main thing he always does is just make sure that I’m being myself. He’s like, ‘Wiz, you so awesome, you so cool, people love you so much. You don’t have to be like nobody. You don’t gotta be like Snoop Dogg, you don’t gotta be like this person, just always be Wiz.’ That’s the most important thing he always tells me.”

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa perform together onstage.

This year’s senior superlative for “Most likely to go on a co-headlining tour” goes to Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort, Warren G, Berner and DJ Drama .

From July 7 through Aug. 27, the hip-hop icons are taking off on their 33-concert ‘High School Reunion Tour’ that will take them to arenas and amphitheaters all over North America.

That includes three stops in New York and New Jersey.

First, the sextet will drop it like it’s hot at Camden, NJ’s Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on July 30. Then, “The Next Episode” will take place at Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Aug. 2.

Finally, Snoop, Wiz and co. will land at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Aug. 4.

And if you need tickets pronto, we’re here to make that happen today .

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, March 10, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Prior to the tour, Wiz Khalifa has six solo concerts in the U.S. ; Snoop Dogg has one overseas in Glasgow, Great Britain on March 16.

Snoop Doog and Wiz Khalifa special guests

Most co-headlining tours have two major acts attached to the proceedings.

The ‘High School Reunion Tour’ has six.

While you may be caught up on your Snoop and Wiz, we wanted to give you a quick refresher and introduce you to each act’s two most-streamed songs on Spotify with links to listen to them.

Snoop Dogg: “Young, Wild and Free” feat. Bruno Mars, “Drop It Like It’s Hot”

Wiz Khalifa: “See You Again” feat. Charlie Puth, “Sucker for Pain” feat. Imagine Dragons

Too $hort: “Blow The Whistle,” “Gettin’ It” feat. Parliament Funkadelic

Warren G: “Regulate,” “This D.J.”

Berner: “20 Joints,” “El Chivo” feat. T3r Elemento

DJ Drama: “Wishing,” “My Moment” feat. 2 Chainz, Meek Mill and Jeremih

Snoop Dogg new music

In 2022, Snoop collaborated with Ice Cube, Too $hort and E-40 on the album “MOUNT WESTMORE” aka “SNOOP CUBE 40 $HORT.”

The 16 tracks are an ode to all things California and wouldn’t sound out of place on a Snoop album from the ’90s.

If you want a true throwback though, we suggest starting with “ACTIVATED” — you’ll instantly be sent back to 1995 once it hits your ears.

You can pick up “SNOOP CUBE 40 $HORT” here .

Wiz Khalifa new music

Snoop isn’t the only artist staying active on the ‘High School Reunion Tour.’

Earlier this year, Khalifa dropped “Star Power,” his ninth studio album.

Over the course of 23 tracks, the 35-year-old reckons with fame, freestyles over 8-bit and soul samples and adds a few bangers to his rap repertoire in the process.

Don’t know where to start? We’ve been playing the endlessly catchy “How You Live,” “Hero (Freestyle),” “So High,” “Flickin’ Ashes” and “Spacely” on repeat all week over here.

Most recently though, Khalifa linked up with Snoop for the anthemic single “Don’t Text Don’t Call” single in early March.

The 64 Most Anticipated Tours of 2024

F estival season continues and the summer tour schedule is in full gear, with superstars huge enough to move in their own orbit and bedroom-pop tinkerers alike on the road. Among the headline names are Missy Elliott, who is on her first-ever North American tour with Ciara, Busta Rhymes, and Timbaland in tow. There’s the poetically pleasing joint tour from Alanis Morissette and Joan Jett; Adele’s belated conclusion of her Vegas residency (before she moves the operation to that other locus of showbiz opulence: suburban Munich); the continuation of the Eras Tour; and more. Adele is finally winding down her Las Vegas residency after a lengthy tenure that has, by her own admission, brought the concert-shy Tottenham superstar out of her shell. “This residency, these shows have changed my life. I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have,” she said in the announcement. “It’s just made me realize how much I really enjoy being on stage, that I’m bloody good at it and that it is 100% where I belong! So let’s go one last time before I turn into a showgirl forever!”

Prep sports notebook: NFHS announces rule changes in multiple sports, KHSAA approves NIL

high school tour 2023

The 2023-2024 high school sports season is right around the corner. Each year, the National Federation of High Schools releases rule changes for various sports that affect how games are played and attempt to level the playing fields. Recently, modifications were made regarding baseball, softball, and track and field.

On a more local scale, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association approved Name, Image and Likeness guidelines for student-athletes to be compensated.

Here are a few changes coming to the high school sports landscape beginning this fall.

KHSAA introduces NIL guidelines

The KHSAA Board of Control recently amended Bylaws 10 and 16 in regards to student athletes receiving compensation for their name, image and likeness.

Specifically, Section 3 of Bylaw 10 outlines the "Restrictions and allowances on the use of name, image and likeness by participants and schools." The main point in this section states that the student cannot use their school's intellectual property (i.e. trademarks or logos) to earn compensation. Student-athletes are also prohibited from earning compensation based on a specific ability or performance.

They are allowed to earn benefits from working camps and clinics, or from their social media activity, as long as they do not use their school's intellectual property in those activities. Think about it this way: Northern Kentucky University men's basketball player Marques Warrick recently held a youth skills clinic in Lexington, but did not use the university's logo to promote the event.

In earning NIL benefits, students are to be paid a "prevailing market rate," a rate that is consistent with fellow students in the area. As high school NIL begins in Kentucky, this rate could be tough to estimate as different students may be valued, and value themselves, at vastly different rates.

Two provisions were added to Bylaw 16 that state a student may not be compensated by an individual who is connected to the student's school. That individual also may not use NIL to recruit a student to a certain school.

Penalties for violating either of these bylaws include possible forfeiture of contests in which the student-athlete participates, and the student-athlete being declared ineligible for future contests.

The NCAA was the first organization to allow amateur athletes to be compensated for their name, image and likeness when they changed their policy in June 2021.

NFHS approves use of PitchCom devices for high school baseball

At the NFHS Baseball Rules Committee's meeting in Indianapolis from June 4-6, the committee approved the use of electronic communication devices, commonly known as PitchCom, between coaches and catchers.

The device is not mandatory, but any coach that elects to use the device is only allowed to communicate with the catcher, who will relay the signs to the pitcher. The coach is also only allowed to use the device in the dugout.

“This change is consistent with the growth of the game and is indicative of a measured and responsible approach to enable technology into our level of competition,” Elliot Hopkins, NFHS Director of Sports and Educational Services said in a statement.

PitchCom devices have become popular in Major League Baseball and college baseball as a way to prevent sign stealing between teams, and a means of speeding up the game.

Fewer illegal pitches in high school softball?

The NFHS modified rule 6-1-2 for softball teams. This rule allows pitchers to have both feet off the ground at the same time.

Previously, the pitcher was required to drag their pivot foot on the ground throughout the pitch. Picking the pivot foot up is casually referred to as a "crow hop", and is the most common form of an illegal pitch, which leads to an automatic ball in the umpire's ball-strike count.

NFHS redefines track and field false starts in the name of consistency

In an effort to help high school track and field officials more consistently identify false starts, the NFHS has reworded rule 5-7-4.

Previously, the rule required runners to remain motionless prior to the starting gun being fired. The language was changed to "If a runner leaves their mark with a hand or foot after the ‘set’ command but before the starting device is fired.” Additionally, the rule goes on to use the phrase "forward motion" before clarifying that “extraneous motion before the device is fired does not necessarily require a false start to be charged".

This language mostly addresses the fact that all athletes enter the starting blocks in a varying manner. When athletes move from the "on your marks" command to the "set" position, some may take longer than others and their set position may look different than others.

“The rules committee felt that these changes offer a clearer definition of a false start and will help add consistency in how false starts are officiated,” Julie Cochran, NFHS director of sports and liaison to the NFHS Track and Field Rules Committee said in a statement.

Politics latest: 'Emergency' prisons plan revealed - as government urged to decriminalise drug possession

The new government is expanding the early release scheme to ease pressure on prisons amid a lack of spaces - amid calls to go further and decriminalise drug posession.

We are signing off now after a big week in Westminster that saw Labour making its first moves as the new government, and the Conservatives trying to work out what their future in opposition looks like.

But don't worry, we will be back on Sunday morning to cover all the political news from the weekend and bring you the latest with Trevor Phillips.

See you then!

Friday marks the end of the first full week for hundreds of new MPs who came to Westminster after the general election.

But for some of the newbies, there was an even bigger task coming their way - being promoted to ministers.

Our political reporter Alix Culbertson takes at look at the new Labour politicians who have already found themselves on Sir Keir Starmer's frontbench.

Jess Phillips says there are "still things that I worry about" after the government confirmed it would be letting prisoners out of jail early to help with overcrowding.

The Labour MP and now minister in the Home Office tells Sky News' Electoral Dysfunction podcast that "by no means is any of this perfect" and the situation was a "terrible, terrible thing".

She adds: "It's still not something that you would ever want to be doing. And there are still things that I worry about."

But Ms Phillips defends the decision too, especially around the exclusion of domestic abusers and stalkers from the policy, saying it is "a shift from what it was... when the Tories were doing it".

She says: "You do what you can in the initial hours that you have to do it, and that isn't the end.

"We will now work on exactly how to make sure that as many possible safeguards can be put in place for potential victims whose perpetrators are being released."

The full episode of Electoral Dysfunction will be released here later this evening, so keep an eye on your feeds.

The victims' commissioner for England and Wales has welcomed the government's decision to exclude domestic abusers and stalkers from its new early release scheme for prisoners.

Baroness Newlove called the move a "welcome and necessary step, reflecting the concerns raised by victims and those who advocate for them".

In a statement, she said there needs to be "clear communication with victims" during the process to ensure the government has their trust, including informing them if release dates are brought forward and allowing them to request protection measures.

She demanded the probation service is "properly resourced to effectively manage licensing conditions and exclusion zones, which are vital for public safety and victim reassurance".

Baroness Newlove added: "Public safety must remain the top priority as these changes are implemented.

"We must acknowledge these exclusions have limitations and cannot address every potential risk."

The chief inspector of prisons is warning the move by the government to tackle overcrowding in jails will "inevitably lead to the early release of some risky offenders".

In a statement, Charlie Taylor welcomed the decision by Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood to release prisoners who had completed 40% of their sentences to free up space, saying the "recognition of the seriousness of the situation, and swift action to manage the prison populations to relieve the immediate strain many jails are under" was positive.

However, he added: "This latest measure will inevitably lead to the early release of some risky offenders, and will add to the workload of already stretched prison OMUs (offender management units) and probation services.

"How these men are prepared for release and how prisons and probation are supported in managing them will be vital."

Mr Taylor said his organisation will be "watching this very closely - as well as any plans that are developed once the immediate pressure is relieved that seek to make prisons places of genuine purpose, help people to break the cycle of reoffending and protect the public from future harm".

Former home secretary and likely Conservative leadership contender Suella Braverman has blasted the government in a somewhat odd way - namely for "picking up Tory ideas".

As we have just reported, Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced plans to release prisoners who have served 40% of their sentences to help alleviate overcrowding in jails, subject to some exemptions.

A similar plan was said to have been proposed by the now former justice secretary Alex Chalk last year, but was understood to have been blocked by Number 10 over fears of a backbench rebellion from Tory MPs.

Tweeting after the government announcement was made, Ms Braverman said: "I opposed this, both inside & outside government.

"With 40 MPs, I tabled amendments to the Sentencing Bill to stop the early release of criminals and put public safety first.

"We managed to stop the government doing it."

She added: "Labour is picking up Tory ideas and putting the public at risk."

Ms Braverman also claimed "everyone and his mother should run to be leader" of her party when the contest kicks off.

But she said all contenders have "got to start taking responsibility for what we did, and for the things we shamefully left undone - such as not building enough prisons".

The justice secretary has announced that the government will conduct a review into how the "crisis" in prisons was "allowed to happen".

Shabana Mahmood explained: "It will look at how and why necessary decisions were not taken at critical moments. And the lessons that must be learned by future governments, from the failures of the last."

She added: "The legacy of those who last occupied 10 Downing Street is prisons in crisis, moments from catastrophic disaster.

"Our legacy will be different.

"A prisons system brought under control. A probation service that keeps the public safe. Enough prison places to meet our needs. And prisons that break the cycle of reoffending - and create better citizens, not better criminals."

The justice secretary has set out what would happen if the government does not implement these "emergency measures" to reduce the prison population.

Shabana Mahmood said: "Soon, the courts would grind to a halt, unable to hold trials.

"The police would have to stop carrying out arrests. With officers unable to act, criminals could do whatever they want, without consequence.

"We could see looters running amok, smashing in windows, robbing shops and setting neighbourhoods alight.

"In short, if we fail to act now, we face the collapse of the criminal justice system. And a total breakdown of law and order."

She declared this "the legacy of the last Conservative government" and the consequences of their "failure" to address the issue.

The new justice secretary has placed the blame for the "crisis" in prisons firmly at the door of the previous government.

Shabana Mahmood said of the Conservative Party: "Time and again, they ducked the difficult decisions that could have addressed this challenge.

"Instead, they kept the public in the dark about the state they had left this country in. They were too weak to heed the warning signs that were flashing. They chose instead to put the country at risk."

There have been reports that her predecessor, Alex Chalk, tried to implement the emergency measures she is announcing today in order to ease the crisis, but former PM Rishi Sunak blocked it.

"But, instead of taking responsibility, she said, "Rishi Sunak called an election. He tried to hoodwink the electorate. And he was punished at the ballot box."

Echoing language used to describe the people who appeased the Nazis in the 1930s, Ms Mahmood said: "Those responsible – Sunak and his gang in No 10 – should go down in history as the guilty men.

"The guilty men who put their political careers ahead of the safety and security of our country. It was the most disgraceful dereliction of duty I have ever known."

By Mollie Malone, news correspondent

These measures from the justice secretary will be seen among the prison and probation sector as a proper attempt to reset and alleviate the immediate prisons crisis (see previous post).

But it doesn’t solve everything. Far from it.

The justice secretary admits today that the core announcement to lower the automatic release point from 50% to 40% is in itself an emergency measure.

At the moment, we are lurching from one emergency measure to the next.

There are safeguards in place that didn't exist under the previous controversial scheme launched by the Conservative government in October - allowing eligible offenders to be released up to 70 days before the end of their sentence.

Those safeguards might help offset some fears expressed by victims groups.

But it certainly doesn't offer a long term solution.

"Although it will be a law, it still does not resolve how we use prison in the long term," said one prison source.

"If we carry on with court backlogs and send more people to prison, we will be in the same position all over again," they said.

The government are committing to building more prison places.

But their prisons minister James Timpson fundamentally disagrees with that approach and thinks a third of people that are in prison shouldn't be there

There are lots of questions yet to answer about what meaningful reform looks like.
