What it's really like to sail with Virgin Voyages
SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY. Last year, Tom McAlpin, the president and CEO of Virgin Voyages, told TPG's resident cruise expert Gene Sloan that on early sailings of Scarlet Lady, the average passenger age was in the 50s, with plenty on board in their 60s and 70s. Based on my trip, I'd say that is still a pretty accurate representation.
Food Review. Virgin Voyages had chefs from Michelin-star restaurants create the food concepts and it was clear from our first meal. There are no buffets and no specialty restaurants that cost extra, in contrast to other cruise lines that are constantly trying to upsell you. Dish presentation from Test Kitchen.
