Pyongyang is North Korea’s capital and largest city. An ideological stronghold of imposing architecture and grand monuments, Pyongyang is the beating heart of politics, economy, culture, and tourism in North Korea.

The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is a buffer zone separating the Korean Peninsula, acting as the de-facto border between North Korea and South Korea.

Mt. Myohyang

Mt. Myohyang is one of North Korea’s most beautiful nature reserves, weaved with rewarding hikes and dotted with ancient relics.

Kaesong, the ancient capital of the Koryo dynasty, is abundant with well-preserved UNESCO sites and cultural treasures. Situated near the South Korean border, Kaesong has played a crucial role in inter-Korean relations.

Wonsan is a charming seaside town on North Korea’s east coast famous for its immaculate yellow-sand beaches and fresh seafood.

Nampo is an industrial port city and key trade gateway to Pyongyang located at the estuary of the Taedong River on the west coast.

Pyongsong is a satellite city of Pyongyang and a developing hub of science and technology often referred to as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of North Korea.

Hayden Peters from Australia

One of the best customer experiences of my life, superb, safe and easy.

Andrea Lee

Coen Scott from Australia

To put it simply, my experience with Uri Tours was the best money I’ve ever spent on recreation. The larger part of every day was spent seeing new and unique locations, my personal favorite was the ‘Palace of the Sun’. (I mean, how many people outside of the DPRK can say they’ve seen Kim Jong Il’s mummy.. right!?) The hotel where we stayed was great! Friendly staff, clean facilities, good food and it also featured a multitude of shops and services, including but not limited to; a tailor, a bookstore, an art shop, a pool, a bar, a bowling alley and a masseuse!

Andrea Lee

Conner Brenner

My trip to North Korea was one of the most fascinating experiences of my life. I was fortunate enough to visit the country with my grandfather who was 78 at the time. Due to his age and his physical disabilities, there were a lot of potential issues that needed to be discussed prior to the trip taking place. The team at Uri Tours were incredibly helpful and courteous during this process. Every concern was addressed, and nearly every email I sent the company was responded to on the same day. I felt like I was being treated with the utmost professionalism.

BEFORE Travel

Tara Mina Bayati

The trip was amazing and far exceeded my greatest expectations. I am sure all of the local guides are great, but I truly cannot imagine anyone better than the ones assigned to us. They could not have been more phenomenal and I felt genuinely sad saying goodbye to them at the airport. This was truly an experience of a lifetime which was made possible by Uri Tours. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in visiting the DPRK!

HTH Travel Insurance Review: Is It Worth the Cost?

Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money .

What does HTH travel insurance plans cover?

Hth single-trip plans, hth annual plans, which hth travel insurance plan is best for me, how to choose an hth plan online, what isn’t covered, including coronavirus, hth travel insurance recapped.

HTH Travel Insurance

  • Covers travelers up to 95 years old.
  • Includes direct pay option so members can avoid having to pay up front for services.
  • A 24-hour delay is required for baggage delay coverage on the TripProtector Economy plan.
  • No waivers for pre-existing conditions on the lower-level plan.

Travel insurance aims to protect you when things go awry, and it can cover a variety of issues that might happen when you’re taking a trip, including canceled flights, medical emergencies and baggage delays.

HTH Travel Insurance sells multiple types of travel insurance policies. Some examples are coverage for pre-existing conditions, single-trip plans, annual plans and more. Let’s look at HTH, the plans the provider offers and whether purchasing a plan is right for you.

HTH offers several types of travel medical insurance, as well as trip protection plans that include coverage for trip cancellation or interruption, baggage delays, and accident or sickness.

Single-trip plans are insurance policies that provide coverage during a specified time period. You’ll travel once and then come home. This contrasts with multi-trip or annual plans.

HTH offers two types of single-trip plans:

Plans for people with primary health insurance in the U.S.

Plans for people who don’t have primary insurance.

nth travel agency

HTH single-trip plan cost

To figure out the cost of a plan, we input a search for a 45-year-old from California traveling for 23 days in January.

With those parameters, HTH returned two quotes, which included the same coverage for travelers whether they had a health insurance policy or not.

HTH travel medical insurance for a single trip

The Voyager Essential plan — for those without primary medical insurance — was cheaper, coming in at $44 for its least expensive option. However, this plan had a 180-day exclusion for pre-existing conditions.

nth travel agency

For those with primary medical insurance, the cheapest Voyager Choice plan was $49.

voyager choice hth travel insurance

Note that these quotes offered only medical insurance.

HTH travel insurance plans

HTH has three plans that cover trip interruption and trip delay.

For this type of insurance, we input a search for a 25-year-old Ohio resident traveling to Switzerland for two weeks in June with a trip cost of $6,500.

nth travel agency

The traveler’s results showed she was eligible for two of the three plans. The cheapest plan came in at $300 and included 100% of the trip cost in case of cancellation, up to 150% of the trip cost in case of trip interruption and a variety of other benefits, including medical insurance coverage.

nth travel agency

Annual plans from HTH are meant for those who travel often or who are away for longer than six months.

HTH offers two types of annual plans:

Plans for standard travelers.

Plans for maritime crew members, missionaries and students.

Both plans provide only medical coverage and don’t offer other trip protection benefits.

Don’t want to shell out for travel insurance? A variety of travel credit cards offer complimentary trip insurance assuming you pay for the trip with your card.

HTH annual plan cost

For this example, we sought an annual plan for a 32-year-old man who will be primarily in Thailand. HTH returned one result, featuring a plan costing $316 per month and requiring a $10,000 deductible.

nth travel agency

It’s worth noting that the monthly cost dropped to $170 when we dropped plan benefits within the U.S. Rates will vary by provider and factor in your age, destination and the deductible you choose, so it’s important to compare prices before purchasing a plan.

» Learn more: How much is travel insurance?

Not everyone has the same needs when traveling, so not everyone should choose the same insurance policy. Here are some things to consider before purchasing a plan.

Look at coverage details

Scour your plan benefits to see what’s covered. If you won't need trip interruption insurance, don’t buy it. Similarly, depending on your health status, you may feel comfortable purchasing a less expensive plan with fewer medical benefits.

Think long term

How often do you travel? If you’re frequently out of the country, you’ll want to weigh the cost of purchasing multiple single-trip plans versus one annual plan. Do the math and see where you’d come out ahead.

Use existing coverage

Many travel credit cards offer travel insurance, though coverage levels will vary. To qualify for this complimentary insurance, you’ll need to pay for your trip using your eligible card. Common card benefits include trip interruption insurance, baggage delay reimbursement and emergency medical insurance.

» Learn more: How to find the best travel insurance

If you want to buy an HTH travel insurance policy, you’ll need to navigate to its website: hthtravelinsurance.com .

From there, you can input your personal information and receive a quote. Once you’ve decided on a plan that fits your needs, you’ll be able to apply for the insurance policy you’d like to purchase.

» Learn more: Does travel insurance cover medical expenses?

Most plans will have coverage for things like emergency medical care, but there can be gaps that you might not expect. Generally speaking, things like high-risk activities, medical tourism or intentional acts of harm are not covered by most travel insurance policies.

Coronavirus considerations

Not every travel insurance plan covers incidents of coronavirus. If this is something for which you’ll need coverage, be sure to check the fine print of your policy and plan benefits.

Perm: Europe's easternmost city

nth travel agency

The city of Perm, located in the Urals foothills, is, geographically speaking, the most easterly city in Europe. Yekaterinburg, which is situated further to the east, beyond the Urals ridge, is located in Asia. Yet, while the whole world thinks that Europe ends at Perm, its citizens are convinced that it begins there.

Perm owes its birth to the mountains that separate Europe from Asia. One of the first copper-smelting works in the Urals was built there in the early 18 th century. As production developed, the settlement grew and Empress Catherine II (the great) soon signed a decree creating the city of Perm around the plant. For centuries, the city developed as an industrial center, so it is not surprising that the working people in Perm welcomed the October Revolution of 1917. In 1940, the city was renamed Molotov, but not for long, as its former name was restored in the late 1950s. Today Perm is a leader of Russian heavy industry.

In recent years, however, the city has been striving to rid itself of its image as Russia’s industrial capital and be recognized as a cultural capital. Can a mighty industrial city, studded with factories, turn overnight into a capital of fashion shows, music and modern arts? The local people are confident that they can do it; the local museum features ancient local artifacts such as wooden idols and bronze animal medallions alongside modern art. Artists and musicians come to Perm to lecture and give master classes and, once every two years, the city hosts the Diaghilev Seasons, a classical festival in memory of the famous ballet impresario Sergei Diaghilev. This is not accidental – the guiding spirit of the famous Russian Seasons in Paris lived in Perm with his family for a long time and graduated from the local school. This year, the city had its first ever White Nights multicultural festival, which lasted a whole month. The authorities hoped the festival would attract hundreds of thousands of tourists but in reality there were fewer. This was partly due to poor promotion of the festival events and partly to the lack of a convenient tourist infrastructure, including information centers, cheap hotels, bicycle rentals and even toilets.

Even so, Perm is persevering. Like other major Russian cities, last June Perm opened a pedestrian street, its answer to Moscow’s Arbat. At present, it looks somewhat wild and provincial: a patchy asphalt surface, street vendors with nothing to do, a couple of artisans and a children’s playground. Yet the pedestrian street is already included in the standard sightseeing tour that winds around the center. The tour, called The Green Line, links key historical sights of old Perm such as merchants’ houses, churches and monuments. Not surprisingly, it also includes museums, such as the Perm Museum of Local Lore housed in a sumptuous villa that used to belong to the arts patron Nikolai Meshkov. This imposing building, with its columns and stucco moldings, overlooks the Kama River. Its storerooms and exhibition halls contain all the treasures of the city’s many centuries of history. A little back from the riverbank, the Museum of Perm Antiquities features a vast paleontology collection: skeletons of the ancient lizards that gave their name to one of the Palaeozoic periods and the legendary Perm mammoth. An alternative tourist route, called The Red Line, was inaugurated more recently. The places of the greatest romantic dramas played out in the city are marked in red on the city map.

Works of art and stone monuments are not the city’s only attractions. Because of its unusual history and geographical position, Perm has produced many remarkable personalities, some of whom became legends in their own lifetime.

Take Alexei Bessonov, a well-known local communist, an active blogger and an irrepressible public campaigner. He jogs in the morning and, thanks to his robust health, is ever ready to fight for the ideals of the Communist Party. He has come up with some startling initiatives. For example, he proposed turning the city hall into a pretrial detention centre and he tried to organize guerilla units to oppose the cultural reforms. Bessonov’s activities are hailed by the local media, and he has long been a living legend in the city. You can see him all over the place: In the morning he often jogs through the city’s main streets and, at noon, he can be seen leading a demonstration and carrying a banner in front of government buildings. Another local celebrity is Alexander Zhunev, a street artist who holds degrees in economics and geology. When he painted his first graffiti in 2008, he realized this was what he had been born to do. Now people come from afar to look at his works. If you see a portrait of the poet Sergei Yesenin that is as tall as 10-storey building, or Spongebob Squarepants atop an electrical transformer box, or public phones in the shape of a fish or a cat’s head, you can be sure Alexander Zhunev has been here with his spray paint. And it is a good idea to visit the places that he has visited.

In contrast, Mikhail Shmakov has disliked Perm from the time he was a child. He thought the city was drab and gloomy. To escape the drabness, Shmakov and his wife set out on a voyage around the world. They have already crossed Africa and South America. Having seen half the world, Shmakov now admits that he does not want to leave his home city for good.

“Paradoxically, after visiting thousands of cities, it was brought home to me that I was lucky to have been born in Perm,” Shmakov said. “I have hated Perm all my life but have recently come to like its cozy provincial style and atmosphere of a wilderness.”

The “wilderness” surrounds the city in the shape of thick forests and the deep, dark waters of the Kama, a major river that slashes right through the middle of Perm. Today, though, the city is divided not only by water. One part dreams of turning it into a cultural capital and the other part wants it to be an industrial city, as of old. How to keep both camps happy? Perm is in the midst of stormy processes that will certainly be interesting to watch.

Middletown travel agency owner charged with using customer credit cards for personal purchases

nth travel agency

Delaware State Police arrested Jane Fencer, 55,  of Townsend, for making fraudulent credit card purchases through her Middletown-based travel agency, Wanderlust Tours and Travel.

On January 26, troopers received a report of multiple unauthorized credit card purchases made through Wanderlust Tours and Travel at 717 South Cox Street in Middletown.

Troopers learned that in December 2023, Fencer allegedly used a former customer’s credit card for over $19,000 worth of unauthorized purchases. During the investigation, Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Detectives learned that former customers of Fencer’s travel agency reported unauthorized purchases made by Fencer on their credit cards. Detectives obtained a warrant for Fencer’s arrest.

Fencer turned herself in at Troop 2 in Bear.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident. Anyone with further information regarding this case or who is aware of similar incidents is asked to contact Detective B. Beck by calling 302-365-8408. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the  Delaware State Police  or contacting  Delaware Crime Stoppers  at 1-800-847-3333.

Perm vodka distillery "PermAlko" excursion Vodka... probably there is no stronger Russian cliche than the country's most adored drink. Ever since the spirit appeared over a millenium ago, there has been a quarrel between the Russians and the Polish about who invented vodka first. Some say that the Polish started producing vodka using potato whereas the Russians used grain. Nevertheless, it is a fact that nowhere in the world more vodka is produced and consumed than in Russia. There are over a thousand registered brands of vodka in Russia, not taking into account the probably even larger number of "samagon" - the notorious home-made version, which is illegally sold everywhere. Although, during its long history of consumption, vodka has probably brought as much grief (alcoholism) as it brought joy, it has undeniniably integrated with Russian culture in many ways. Even today, no celebration goes without it... There are a few leading distilleries in Russia of which PermAlko, Perm's largest distillery, is one. Apart from local brands such as "Great Perm", "Old Ural", "Permskiy Krai", "Dimidovskaya" and "Permskaya Luxe", PermAlko also produces vodka for export among which are "Moskovskaya", "Smirnoff" and "Stolichnaya". The factory started producing vodka since 1895. Later, PermAlko also started producing a number of variations on plain vodka, for example: cranberry vodka, honey vodka, peppered vodka and several balzams. Balzam is a spirit varying from 25 to 50 percent alcohol, which is made using a large number of herbs and spices as a main ingredient for taste. During the 2-hour excursion at PermAlko, you are told about the factory and its products. The guide explains you about the distillation process of vodka - from water, sugar and grain until the bottled product - as he/she takes you past the different sections of the distillery. At the end of the tour, you are invited to the 'tasting room' to sense the flavours and aromas of different vodkas. There, in the form of a small lunch, you will be offered the typical snacks that Russians traditionally take with consuming vodka. And naturally you will not leave the distillery without a big souvenir...! Excursion possible Monday-Thursday, apart from national holidays PermAlko excursion Persons 1 2 3 4 5 6 Duration: 2 hours 212 122 104 86 76 70 Prices p.p. in euro (€), subject to change       Back to excursion page
