Princess Cruises’ 2025 Mediterranean Highlights

Princess Cruises will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in the Mediterranean by featuring its two newest and largest ships there in 2025 —  Star and Sun Princess.

The 2025 European season will also include four additional vessels from the Princess Cruises fleet: Majestic, Sky, Regal, and Emerald Princess.

Voyages on ships sailing from Southampton, England in 2025 —  Sky, Regal, and Emerald — will open for bookings on May 25th. Cruises on Mediterranean-based ships — Star, Sun, and Majestic Princess — will open for booking on June 1st.

Princess Cruises first began sailing in the Mediterranean in 1985. To celebrate the 40th milestone anniversary in 2025, upcoming Sphere-class ship Star Princess will join sister ship Sun Princess in the Mediterranean for her inaugural season. The vessel’s inaugural voyage will be August 4, 2025 — a nine-day Grand Mediterranean cruise to Italy and Greece roundtrip from Civitavecchia (Rome).

Sun Princess will operate a series of seven-day Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona, Rome, or Athens.

Highlights of Princess’ March through November 2025 Europe season include:

Mediterranean

In addition to Star and Sun Princess, Emerald, Majestic, and Sky Princess join the lineup for a range of seven to 31-day Mediterranean voyages. Cruises will depart from Civitavecchia (Rome), Southampton, Piraeus (Athens), Trieste (Venice), and Barcelona.

New for 2025, a 31-day Mediterranean Marvel cruise on Sky Princess will offer More Ashore late-nights in Mykonos, Santorini, and Jerusalem/Bethlehem (Ashdod).

British Isles

Emerald and Regal Princess will offer heritage and hillside castles on 10 to 14-day cruises from Southampton. Stonehenge, the Scottish Highlands, and Liverpool are highlights, as well as late-night stays in Belfast.

Northern Europe

Emerald and Sky Princess deliver the beauty of northern Europe on five to 28-day voyages that visit Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and more. Select voyages will include late-night calls in cities like Copenhagen and Berlin.

All six ships will offer transatlantic voyages between North America and Europe which are 15 to 29 days long.

Many cruises will be able to be combined with tours on land for Princess’ Cruisetours. Guests can choose to sightsee in Madrid on the Highlights of Spain cruisetour, visit Florence and Rome on the Classic Italy cruisetour, explore Mediterranean treasures on the Best of Greece tour, or take in the landscapes of Ireland on the Ring of Kerry cruisetour.

The 2025 cruises and cruisetours season offers travelers looking for the ultimate European adventure abundant natural beauty, history and traditions, combined with diverse cultures, all while enjoying a relaxed, stress-free travel experience on six beautiful Princess cruise ships: NEW! Star Princess and NEW! Sun Princess, plus Majestic Princess, Sky Princess, Regal Princess and Emerald Princess.

Voyages aboard ships sailing out of Southampton UK (London) in 2025 – Sky Princess, Regal Princess and Emerald Princess – go on sale May 25, while sailings on Mediterranean-based ships – Star Princess (NEW), Sun Princess (NEW) and Majestic Princess – go on sale June 1.

Princess first set sail in the Mediterranean in 1985, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary the new Star Princess joins sister-ship Sun Princess in the Mediterranean for her debut season of cruising. Her maiden voyages depart August 4, 2025, sailing a nine-day Grand Mediterranean voyage to Italy and Greece roundtrip from Rome, followed by a variety of 10-day cruises, also roundtrip from Rome, that visit iconic destinations such as Florence, Barcelona and Mykonos.

Sun Princess will sail a series of seven-day Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona, Rome or Athens, that will visit coveted destinations including Istanbul, Naples and Santorini.

Both of the cruise line’s newest ships offer next-generation features, host 4,300 guests, offer more than 1,500 balconies and 29 restaurants and bars throughout 21 decks. Their groundbreaking design centers on a glass sphere that infuses the Piazza with light and connects guests with dynamic views of the world. Another standout venue is The Dome, a cutting-edge top-deck entertainment space inspired by the tiered cliffs of Santorini.

Highlights of the March through November 2025 Europe Season

Celebrate 40 Years in the Mediterranean : In addition to Star Princess and Sun Princess, Emerald Princess, Majestic Princess and Sky Princess join the line up for a wide range of seven- to 31-day Mediterranean sailings. Cruises depart from Rome (Civitavecchia), London (Southampton), Athens (Piraeus), Trieste (Venice) and Barcelona.

Guests can choose from exploring the ruins of ancient Rome, Athens and Ephesus to immersing themselves in the art within the Vatican Museum, or the whimsical architecture of Barcelona. They can soak up the culture and cuisine of timeless cities such as Sicily, Marseille and Istanbul and admire the sandy splendor and breathtaking views of Santorini’s Red Beach or visit the haunting ruins of Pompeii in Naples.

New for 2025, a 31-day Mediterranean Marvel cruise on Sky Princess offers More Ashore late-nights in Mykonos, Santorini, and Jerusalem/Bethlehem (Ashdod).

British Isles : Emerald Princess and Regal Princess offer heritage and hillside castles on 10- to 14-day cruises from London (Southampton). The rugged Scottish Highlands, welcoming pubs, a look at The Beatles’ hometown of Liverpool, and the prehistoric wonder of Stonehenge are just some of the sites to see. And with late-night stays in Belfast, guests can experience the region’s lively nightlife.

Northern Europe : Emerald Princess and Sky Princess deliver the beauty of the Northern Europe on five- to 28-day voyages that visit Sweden, Norway, Denmark and more, with select voyages offering late-night calls in classic cities like Copenhagen and Berlin. Follow the footsteps of the ancient Viking explorers throughout Scandinavia and Iceland, guests go in search of the Northern Lights and sail to the top of the world during the Summer Solstice.

Grand Adventures & Passages : All six ships sail between North America and Europe for the ultimate transatlantic crossing, offering 15- to 29-day voyages.

Cruisetours : Combine the cruise with multiple days on land to experience more of the region. Princess Cruises Announces Revised 2025 World Cruise Itineraries

• April 30, 2024

Due to the ongoing situation in the Red Sea, Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises, adding new stops in Africa and Europe. The sailings will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia.

“A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas,” said Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer of Princess Cruises.

“These global events beyond our control have necessitated these reroutings but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the West Africa coast and the Mediterranean.”

The first World Cruise itinerary sails aboard the Island Princess from North America. The 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from Ft. Lauderdale on January 5, 2025, and Los Angeles on January 20, 2025. This world tour visits 46 destinations in 24 countries and six continents, ending in Los Angeles on May 17, 2025. 

The revised World Cruise itinerary, from February 16 to April 9, departs Sydney traveling to Melbourne and Perth and then to South Africa. From there, the voyage resumes the scheduled itinerary starting in Valletta, Malta on April 9.

Guests scheduled to join the cruise from Dubai on March 14, 2025, will now embark or disembark four days earlier on March 9, in Cape Town, South Africa. Booked guests disembarking in Cape Town will be refunded the amount equivalent to four days of the cruise fare while those joining earlier will not face additional costs. All these guests will also receive a $300 onboard credit.

The second 2025 itinerary sails aboard the Crown Princess departing from Auckland on May 31, 2025; and Sydney on June 4, 2025. The 113-day journey includes stops at 42 destinations in 22 countries, across five continents. The ship will travel via Africa instead of the Red Sea and Asia. The fully revised itinerary is currently being finalized and will be communicated shortly, the company said in a press release.

Princess Cruises announces revised 2025 World Cruise itineraries

SANTA CLARITA, CA — Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises, which will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia, and now instead, will offer new port stops in Africa and Europe.

The cruise line says the decision is based on the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and surrounding area, and follows extensive consultation with global security experts and government authorities.

“A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas,” said Terry Thornton, Chief Commercial Officer, Princess Cruises. “These global events beyond our control have necessitated these reroutings but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the west Africa coast and the Mediterranean.”

ISLAND PRINCESS WORLD CRUISE

Sailing from North America on Island Princess, the 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Ft. Lauderdale, embarking January 5, 2025, and Los Angeles on January 20, 2025, and ends in Los Angeles on May 17, 2025.

The revised World Cruise itinerary, from February 16-April 9, departs Sydney and will travel to Melbourne and Perth, then on to South Africa. From there, the cruise resumes the scheduled itinerary starting in Valletta, Malta on April 9.

Passengers scheduled to originally depart or join the cruise from Dubai on March 14, 2025, will now embark or disembark four days earlier on March 9, in Cape Town, South Africa. Booked guests disembarking in Cape Town will be refunded the amount equivalent to four days of the cruise fare and those joining earlier will not incur an added cost to their cruise fare. All these guests will also receive a $300 onboard credit as a gesture of good will.

CROWN PRINCESS WORLD CRUISE

Crown Princess – the largest ship to ever host a World Cruise – is scheduled to depart Auckland May 31, 2025; and Sydney June 4, 2025; and sail on a 113-day adventure visiting 42 destinations in 22 countries, across five continents.

This cruise will also bypass the Red Sea and surrounding region, including the transit of the Suez Canal. The ship will travel via Africa instead of the Red Sea and Asia itinerary. According to Princess, the fully revised itinerary is currently being finalized and will be communicated shortly.

Uncertainties in the Red Sea and Surrounding Region Prompts Rerouting of Global Voyages

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. , April 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Given the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and surrounding area and following extensive consultation with global security experts and government authorities, Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises, which will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia , and now instead, will offer new port stops in Africa and Europe.

Island Princess World Cruise Sailing from North America on Island Princess, the 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Ft. This destination dreamers delight will traverse over 36,700 nautical miles, visiting 46 destinations in 24 countries and six continents. The voyage includes visits to historic Bar, Montenegro and Taranto, Italy , along with inaugural World Cruise calls to the idyllic Greek Island of Patmos and to Volos – for the Monasteries of Meteora.

Bodies found in Mexico where Australian, US tourists went missing

Mexican authorities have located three bodies in the state of Baja California where one American and two Australian tourists were reported missing, the local prosecutor's office said in a statement late on Friday.

New Zealand said on Saturday that its Antarctic agency signed a memorandum of understanding with Germany's Alfred Wegener Institute to foster cooperation between the two polar science bodies, amid China's growing presence in Antarctica.
