My Chemical Romance Reveal Opening Acts for Rescheduled 2022 Reunion Tour Dates

They'll finally get a chance to "carry on" as My Chemical Romance 's pandemic-delayed reunion tour is finally happening stateside. The band just revealed the full rescheduled itinerary for North America after having to continually push back the shows due to COVID-19's impact on the touring industry.

The tour will now officially get underway Aug. 20 in Oklahoma City, with dates running through Oct. 29 which is the final scheduled night of the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas. The group has also added 14 new shows in 10 cities to the itinerary. See all cities, dates and venues listed below. Tickets for the new dates will go on sale this Friday (March 11) at 12N local time.

In addition, My Chemical Romance have filled the run with a variety of opening acts, including the reunited Midtown, Badflower, Turnstile, Taking Back Sunday, The Bouncing Souls, Thursday, Kimya Dawson, Meg Myers, Devil Master, Dilly Dally, Ghosh, Nothing, Shannon and the Clams, Soul Glo, Surfbort, The Homeless Gospel Choir, The Lemon Twigs, Waterparks and Youth Code all playing select dates.

My Chemical Romance announced their plans to reunite in the fall of 2019, though the seeds of a potential reunion were planted as far back as 2017.  "In 2017, we got in a room together to see what would happen," MCR wrote on Twitter in December of 2019 . "A couple more jam sessions and 39 days of rehearsals later, we’re ready to show you what we’ve learned. See you soon."

The band played their first reunion show at the Shrine Expo Concert Hall in Los Angeles on Dec. 20, 2019, reportedly grossing nearly $1.5 million for the band. The group then started announcing more and more tour dates for 2020, but the pandemic wiped out those plans.

Call them pop-punk, post-hardcore, or alternative rock, but lead singer and founder Gerard Way would rather you never call them “emo.”

My Chemical Romance is arguably one of the most influential bands of the early 2000s, garnering a gigantic loyal fanbase over the years who do everything from following their tours to supporting their causes in public demonstrations.

When the native New Jersey band disbanded back in 2013, followers believed it was the end of an era, but that proved untrue with a powerhouse reunion in 2019. And now, the long wait for more dates is over as Way, along with his brother Mikey and bandmates Ray Toro and Frank Iero are back with a vengeance.

My Chemical Romance started as the brainchild of lead singer Gerard Way. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attack, the vocalist was inspired to write about the event and start a band with guitarist Toro, his brother Mikey on bass, Iero on rhythm guitar, and original drummer Matt Pelissier.

My Chemical Romance released its first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, in 2002. While it wasn’t a major hit, it used the music to cultivate a fan base following via MySpace. These efforts plus solid touring performances led the band to sign with Reprise Records in 2003.

In 2004, MCR’s second studio album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, climbed to a respectable position on the Billboard charts, peaking at #28, and went platinum within the year. Pelissier departed soon after the record’s release, so Bob Bryar took over behind the drum kit.

Over the next two years, My Chemical Romance opened for bands like Green Day on the American Idiot Tour and Fall Out Boy on the Warped Tour. With a robust following, the band was ready to amp things up.

In 2007, the band released its magnum opus concept album, The Black Parade. This rock opera centers around a central character dying of cancer. The band staged powerful events like a hosting live gig using a pseudonym that almost resulted in the audience revolting and a releasing faux parade of black-robed marchers.

Not only did The Black Parade solidify My Chemical Romance’s burgeoning cult following, it was a huge commercial success. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts and went on to go triple platinum in both the US and UK.

Mistreated and misunderstood by some media outlets, Gerard Way and his band had to overcome controversies generated by misinterpretation of MCR’s lyrics. After releasing their fourth album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, in 2010, the band would release a series of singles over the next two years compiled as the Conventional Weapons album.

Then, almost without warning, My Chemical Romance amicably broke up. But by 2019, a surprise show in LA signaled a reunion tour. COVID-19 postponed it in 2020, but now the boys are back and ready to take the world by storm.

They are not just a talented, creative and inspiring foursome, but they all put their all into their spectacular performances on stage, whether it be small cramped venues, or huge overpacked arenas. My Chemical Romance are definitely the band everyone's heard of and alot of upcoming bands look up to. They jam pack their performances with energy, emotion and true passion. As popular songs such as the heart aching 'Helena' to the powerful 'Famous Last Words', there is always an element of surprise that this band will put into their set. Frontman 'Gerard Way' sure can get the crowd on their feet and having the best night of their life. However, as they are no longer a group they will certainly be an inspiration to many. My Chemical Romance is done, but it can never die.

Concerts are usually full of talent and fun. From my experience they have been amazing and a night you'll always remember. But after seeing My Chemical Romance, I finally realised how mind-blowing and inspiring festivals can really be. From the music to the laser show, the big screens to the loud speakers, everything was perfect.

MCR have always been true performers they either perform epically or not at all. And trust me they really knew how to entertain. I have always turned to music as a way out of reality, a tool used to set me free and it felt like they knew how to make me forget about the struggles and just have an amazing time. I was in complete awe, just watching my idols perform and seeing how powerful their words and music could be. They owned the stage. They owned the crowd.

I won't ever forget Gerad Way's hilarious dance moves to 'I Don't Love You' or when 'Frank Iero' guitar string came off mid song. I have some great memories due to that concert and I'm sure no matter how many other performers I see or concerts I attend, nothing will compare to the perfection of MCR.

My Chemical Romance is a classic punk band. My obsession started when I was 11. I loved the Black Parade and everything the band stood for. Their music never fails to amaze me. The lyrics helped me through some tough years and it breaks my heart that they broke up. I'm pretty sure that no matter your walk of life, MCR knew how to touch you.

Wow.. yeah. MCR was my favorite in early high school, seeing them after the craze was a great experience. Gerard still holds up with his great stage proformances and boy oh boy is Frank hot. Got to hear some of my favorite ever songs live and will forever remember this concert.

Investigating the Potential Opening Acts for My Chemical Romance’s 2022 Tour

Lastly, I wanted to investigate the potential opening acts for MCR’s 2022 tour. To do this, I considered band dynamics and found potential openers.

First, I considered band dynamics. I looked at which bands had opened for MCR in the past and tried to determine which bands might be best suited to open for them in 2022. I paid particular attention to bands that had a similar sound and style to MCR, as these bands would likely be well-received by MCR’s fans.

Next, I found potential openers. After considering the band dynamics, I was able to narrow down my list of potential openers to a handful of bands. These bands included New Found Glory, Motion City Soundtrack, and Hawthorne Heights.

In conclusion, this article explored who My Chemical Romance will be touring with in 2022. Through interviews with band members, research on rumors and speculations, and an analysis of past tours, I was able to reveal which bands MCR has officially confirmed for the tour, as well as make predictions about who might join them in 2022. I also investigated the potential opening acts for the tour and identified a few bands that might be best suited to open for MCR in 2022.

Overall, it’s clear that MCR is planning an exciting tour for 2022. With a combination of old favorites and fresh talent, the band is sure to put on an unforgettable show. Fans can expect to hear some of MCR’s classic hits and songs from their upcoming album, as well as the music of their tour partners and openers. It’s going to be one of the biggest tours of the year, and one that fans won’t want to miss.

My Chemical Romance Extend 2022 Reunion Tour

UPDATE (3/9/22) : My Chemical Romance have added a 14 new shows to their long-awaited reunion tour , and released additional tickets to previously announced gigs. The group’s expanded itinerary — which is available below, new dates in bold — will find them hitting 10 new cities and adding more shows in Brooklyn, Toronto, Boston, and Los Angeles. Tickets for the new gigs will go on sale this Friday, March 11, at 12 p.m. local time via the My Chemical Romance website .

My Chemical Romance’s reunion tour — originally scheduled to begin September 2020 — has been pushed to 2022 as the impact of Covid-19 continues to linger in the U.S. and other nations around the world.

“We are deeply sad, but those emotions are only a fraction of the depth of feeling we have all experienced watching the suffering and loss of the past year,” My Chemical Romance said in a statement Friday. “We just want to be as sure as we can be that everyone is safe. Refunds will be offered to anyone who wants them.  We are sorry if this is disappointing, and we really can’t wait to see you in 2022.”

In January 2020, prior to the coronavirus pandemic, My Chemical Romance announced their first U.S. tour in nine years with a September 2020 start date. However, five months later amid the pandemic, the band rescheduled those shows to begin September 2021. Those dates, following Friday’s postponement, are now scheduled for 2022.

Check out the MCR’s site for the new itinerary; all tickets will be honored for the new dates, while fans who can’t attend the rescheduled shows can request a refund by May 16th.

My Chemical Romance were also set to headline both the 2020 postponed and 2021 rescheduled Aftershock Festival as well as the 2021 Riot Fest , but the band’s gigs at those festivals have been canceled as part of Friday’s postponement. Both festivals are still scheduled to take place, with Aftershock tweeting Friday that a new headliner was “to be announced” and Riot Fest revealing that MCR’s headlining gig there will now occur in 2022.

The Tacoma Dome has a clear bag policy to expedite entry and reduce touch points for security staff and guests.

• Bags may only be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC, sized 12"x6"x12" or smaller
• Small clutch purses are okay if sized 4.5"x6.5" or smaller
• One gallon plastic storage bags are okay
• Tacoma Dome clear bags are available for purchase at  Stocklist Goods  
• Binbox lockers are available for rent outside the venue for $10-$15 (card only, no cash)

Cashless Facility

The Tacoma Dome is a cashless facility, including all concession and merchandise sales. Google Pay and Apple Pay are also available at concession points of sale. There are cash-to-card kiosks (reverse ATM’s) where guests can exchange their cash for a Tacoma Dome VISA card.  Card balances remain usable anywhere after the event.  Going cashless improves the transaction process, reduces wait times, and limits guest to staff contact. Getting Here

Let us guide your way! Please follow our  recommended routes  - use of Exit 133 from I-5 is not advised. For real-time traffic, we suggest using  Waze .  Parking  in Tacoma Dome lots is $30 and may be limited.

Security measures are in place for all Tacoma Dome events, including metal detectors and a  clear bag policy . Weapons of any kind, including pocket knives, are not allowed. No outside food and beverage. If you see something, say something™. Only bring necessary items to expedite the entry process.

Main doors are scheduled to open at approximately 6:30pm.

Guests should use Upper NW, Upper SW, or Upper East entry doors. Recommended doors for our guests with disabilities are the Lower NW.

Camera Policy

Non-professional (no detachable lens) cameras are allowed. No video cameras, audio recording devices, GoPros, iPads, selfie sticks, gimbals, or tripods. (subject to change)

Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the arena.

For ticket holders on the floor, join us at the Tacoma Dome's premiere lounge - The Garage, Fueled by Heritage Distilling Co. Located on the SW Arena floor, The Garage features rotating cocktails, local craft, and domestic beers, and wine. For guests with 100 and 200 level seating, visit the Backstage Bar, located on the concourse between sections 222-226. Drink specials include:

Following the band’s triumphant return to the stage in Los Angeles, CA in 2020, My Chemical Romance have announced additional North American tour dates to their already massive run; including a stop in Raleigh, NC. The group will also have a number of incredibly talented acts joining them on the road as support. Support acts for the PNC Arena date are Turnstile and Soul Glo. Please Note: Overnight camping is not permitted. Guests will not be permitted on property prior to NOON on Friday, Aug. 26.

Beginning at NOON on Friday, Aug. 26, general admission ticket holders can receive a sequentially numbered wristband that will be distributed by the South Plaza outside of the PNC Arena Ticket Office.

• Ticketholders will receive a sequentially numbered wristband based on order of arrival.  
• GA mobile ticket must be presented to receive a wristband. The wristband will be affixed to the ticketholder at this time.  
• Guests will be unable to take additional wristbands for other ticketholders.

At 4PM, guests will begin lining up at the East Entrance .

• At approximately 4PM guests will line up sequentially based on their numbered wristband - beginning with #1.   
• Guests who did not recieve a wristband will line up on a first-come, first-served basis behind guests with wristbands.

My Chemical Romance has expanded its reunion tour dates, adding a concert in Upstate New York.

MCR will perform at MVP Arena (formerly the Times Union Center) in Albany on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Special guests Waterparks and Meg Myers will open the show at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 11, at noon.

My Chemical Romance first announced its North American reunion tour dates in early 2020, but shows were postponed by the Covid pandemic. Lead singer Gerard Way will be performing with guitarist Ray Toro, bassist Mikey Way, guitarist Frank Iero and drummer Jarrod Alexander.

The alternative rock band released its debut album in 2002 and went on to hit the Top 40 charts with songs like “I’m Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “Welcome to the Black Parade.” The band split in 2013; during the hiatus Way developed his comic book series “The Umbrella Academy” into a Netflix show.

It's finally happening: My Chemical Romance have announced a full slate of reunion tour dates for 2022, and they're bringing it to American Airlines Center in September!  The emo legends tested the waters last December with a single show at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, setting the venue's sales record in the process.  Apparently that was all the encouragement they needed, and they're taking to the road with a show that's an absolute must-catch for anyone who was an angsty emo teen in the early part of the century.  So while tickets for this My Chemical Romance Dallas concert are on sale now, you'd better hurry if you want to beat the competition to the best ones around!

After a decade away from the stage, New Jersey natives My Chemical Romance are back this year for their worldwide 2022 Reunion Tour.

The popular emo rockers’ return to the spotlight will take them to arenas all over North America .

Just a few of the arenas on their 38-concert run include Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on Aug. 29, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sept. 10-11 and Newark’s Prudential Center on Sept. 20-21.

Then, to close their triumphant Tour, My Chemical Romance will headline at this year’s When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas in October. Other major throwback headliners for the two-weekend event include Paramore, Bright Eyes and Jimmy Eat World.

Here’s what to know about the upcoming tour dates and other major festivals you can catch MCR at this year.

Where can I buy My Chemical Romance tickets?

Tickets to see My Chemical Romance live in concert are currently on sale.

In addition to the tour and When We Were Young, My Chemical Romance will be at some major festivals this year.

You can see the group with The Misfits, Nine Inch Nails and Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Chicago’s Riot Festival from Sept. 16-18.

The following weekend, on Sept. 22-25, they’ll headline at Dover, Delaware’s Firefly Music Festival alongside Dua Lipa, Halsey and Green Day.

Then, in October, My Chemical Romance will lend their talents to the hard rocking Aftershock Music Festival in Sacramento, California. Slipknot, Rob Zombie and Muse are also on the bill.
