Explore Jeep Safari

To start our day of rugged mountain scenery we make our first stop at the Dam of Asprokremos. Get your cameras at the ready for our drive through Diakizos Vallery and a welcome stop for coffee at one of the local traditional villages. We will take you to the islands best winery at Pretori for a sample (or three) of their various delicious wines and next to view Gefalos Bridge built in the 15th century by the Venetians.

Our off-roading experience next through the natural habitat of the elusive Moufflon native only to Cyprus and if you are lucky maybe a sighting too !!

A trip to Troodos is not complete without a visit to Kykkos Monastery, the richest and most famous on the island. Our lunch stop is spent at a Troodos traditional village where you can enjoy a famous Cyprus Meze.*

The Fini waterfalls are breathtaking as too is Omodhos, a village you will surely want to return to with it’s local women handmaking many lace items and cobbled streets with its friendly inhabitants opening their doors to you. Our last stop is a photo opportunity at Aphrodite’s Rock, the birthplace of the Goddess of Love and Beauty, and then onto Paphos after a Troodos safari you’ll never forget. Cyprus Day Trip: Troodos Mountains Jeep Safari Tour

Hi, guys! This week, let’s explore the Troodos Mountains, Cyprus, on a jeep! This is one of the most exciting Cyprus day trips that I had in September 2023.

But before that, Merry Christmas to everyone who’s celebrating! And thank you, Exness, for paying for my flight and accommodation during the 1-week business trip 🙏🙏🙏

If it weren’t for the business trip, I wouldn’t think of visitting Cyprus.

Since the return flight tickets and hotel are paid for by the company, of course, I HAVE TO explore this country! 🤩🤩🤩

I just had to cover the accommodation for my extension. Luckily, I found a decent room in the heart of Limassol (near the Old Port).

I extended my business trip for another 7 days and explored the country with day trip tours. My room was considered pricey and comparable to a 3-star hotel in Malaysia, but it was worth the experience.

When I’m travelling, I don’t compare prices with the ones back home because it’s unreasonable. FYI, the rent in Limassol is high so you can imagine the hotel/room prices there.

Okay, back to the Cyprus day trip! Besides Limassol, the capital city, there are many places that you can explore in this country.

Here’s a sneak peek of what Troodos Mountains jeep safari tour looks like:

Cyprus Day Trip: Kouris Dam, Troodos Mountains Jeep Safari Tour

I’m so happy that my ex-colleague told me about a local tour company that can pick me up and drop me off at my accommodation, at a reasonable price.

It’s worth it because when I googled ‘Cyprus day trip’ myself, not many depart from Limassol. If they do, the price is very high.

Please bear in mind that the jeep used for this Cypus day trip group tour is just okay. If you’re lucky, you’ll be among the firsts to be picked up from your hotel so you can choose your seat.

Otherwise, you may have to sit at the back, facing other passengers on a bumpy road + no seatbelt (like my colleagues)… It’s uncomfortable and dangerous, TBH!

The road to the Troodos Mountains is beautiful and since it’s a jeep tour, I visitted many off-beaten path destinations. The first stop is the beautiful Kouris Dam ✨✨✨

Now, you may already realise from the name that what you see above isn’t a real lake. It’s a man-made lake – a dam.

There was a village called Alassa underneath the dam. One day, the authorities decided to build a dam. However, there was a flood and it buried the whole village, including the church, under the water.

The ruins of the Agios Nikolaus church are the only thing left from the Alassa Village. Some days when the water is high, you may not be able to see the whole ruins, like in the photo above.

Cyprus Day Trip: Millomeri Waterfalls, Troodos Mountains Jeep Safari Tour

Next, we dropped by Laneia Village to see some Old Wine Press tools, then headed to the Millomeri Waterfalls.

Laneia Village is beautiful, with cobbled-stone streets and small houses made of stones. It was my first time seeing old wine press tools. Wow, making wine seems so difficult back then!

By the way, if you’re hoping for a grand waterfall, remember that Cyprus is a small island. The Troodos Mountains jeep safari tour will take you to a small yet nice Millomeri Waterfalls.

Oh, remember to put on hiking shoes or sandals with a good grip because sometimes the road you’re walking on won’t be smooth🚙😉🌳

Cyprus Day Trip: Kelefos Bridge, Troodos Mountains Jeep Safari Tour

After the Millomeri Waterfalls, we stopped somewhere and walked a little bit into the forest. After a few minutes walk, we saw a beautiful bridge on top of a river.

The Kelefos Bridge is so lovely and peaceful. I saw families playing with their children in the river, a group of touring resting with their big motorbikes parked near the river…

It’s a perfect picnic place for couples and families! 🌿🌿🌿

This charming, Venetian-style bridge is so romantic. I’d love to kiss someone I love on this bridge 😍

We’d come here with his big motorbike or jeep, have a short picnic, and kiss each other passionately when the sun sets… #daydreaming

Okay, Clara! Chop, chop – back to the reality! 😂😂😂

Right, so this romantic bridge was actually built back then to connect merchants, so their cargo could pass by 😁

Cyprus Day Trip: Kykkos Monastery, Troodos Mountains Jeep Safari Tour

The next stop is Kykkos Monastery, one of the wealthiest and grandest monasteries in Cyprus.

Kykkos Monastery, which lies at 1,318 meters in the Troodos Mountains, Cyprus, is very grand and beautiful. When you step inside, you’ll be awed by the religious gold mosaic, like these:

Oh, please remember to wear long pants or appropriate clothes when visitting Kykkos Monastery. I forgot about this and was wearing hot pants with ripped cuttings for this Cyprus day trip 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Luckily, I had a pashmina in my bag, so I used it to cover my legs.

You may see some cuddly-looking stray cats in Cyprus, even inside the Kykkos Monastery. This country has double the number of cats than humans!

Similar to the neighbouring country, Turkey, Cypriots take care of stray cats and dogs well. They feed them and some bring the injured ones to the vet.

That’s why the stray cats in Cyprus have beautiful fur and are chubby aka well-fed 😸😸😸

Oh ya, there’s a museum too in Kykkos Monastery. If you want to go there, you need to pay the entrance fee.

The Troodos Mountains jeep safari tour that I joined gave me only 30 minutes to explore Kykkos Monastery, so I skipped the museum.

It was a bit rushing, but that’s reasonable since this Cyprus day trip stops at many places. And with the price I paid, I have no complaint.

Cyprus Day Trip: Mount Olympus, Troodos Mountains Jeep Safari Tour

Afterward, we had lunch in a traditional restaurant on top of the Troodos Mountains. Then we went to Mount Olympus.

With the Troodos Mountains jeep safari tour , the travel agency will take you to the bumpy road and let you hike a bit to the top of Mount Olympus.

Usually, normal Troodos Mountains tours won’t do it because the road is bumpy and the cars used aren’t designed for it.

Did you know that you can find rocks that are at the bottom of the ocean, on top of the Troodos Mountains?

Scientists who can’t dive to the ocean floor would go to the Troodos Mountains to get their research materials!

But how come? The sea and mountains are two different things! They’re like, 360° – the complete opposite.

That’s because the Troodos Mountains rose from the sea! These mountains are shaped due to the collision of the African and European tectonic plates, which later on formed the Cyprus island.

Because the mountains rose from the sea slowly, the rock formation is nearly intact ✨✨✨

Troodos safari will be one your most memorable trips on the Island taking in the breathtaking views from the highest peak of Troodos mountains and reaching some of the most remote places on the island. Our excursion will bring you to following places.

After pick up from your accommodation or agreed pick up point we take you to

• DONKEY FARM - Get up close and personal with these cute animals (RIDING is optional 7€ for 15 minutes).
• WATER DAM - see how we take care of water shortage on the Island during a quick photo stop.
• We will drive through the shades of the TROODOS FOREST on our way to the
• VENETIAN BRIDGE - Built by the Venetians (1489-1571) one of a series of bridges that where part of the old camel trail to move valuables of the Island.
• Further we go off-road onto the 11th century built KYKKOS MONASTERY which is one of the most famous and richest monasteries in Cyprus. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the monastery houses many treasures like one of the surviving icons ascribed to St. Luke covered in tortoiseshell and Mother-of-pearl.
• MOUNT OLYMPOS - The highest peak of the Island for a photo stop. (In winter weather permitted)
• TROODOS WATERFALLS – A visit to this small waterfall is always refreshing in summer.
• OMODOS VILLAGE - We come to this picturesque white village, where you can visit the old wine press take a look in some traditional houses and visit the monastery of the “Holy Cross”.
• WINERY – Visit to a local winery with some free wine testing, can’t say no to that 😉
• ROCK OF APHRODITE “Petra tou Roumiou” - BIRTH PLACE OF APHRODITE , the Goddess of Love. (in summer swimming stop weather & sea conditions permitted).

You will charter the entire Land Rover Jeep (max 10 passengers) with your own driver/guide who will take you on  THE TOUR BASED ON YOUR INTERESTS & LIKINGS!

You and the driver will make the itinerary for the day. Choosing a region and making stops at the various places of interest.

And of course, we can either arrange LUNCH for you or advise you where best to make a lunch break according to your tastes & diets .

Wrangler Low Down Concept

Jeep has built more than 100 of these custom 4x4s since 2008, but only a select few have managed to stick in the minds of the Jeep faithful. The new Rubicon 392 -based Wrangler Low Down concept pays homage to one of the most famous Easter Jeep Safari builds, the Lower 40 concept from 2009. That early build featured a V-8 engine swap under the hood, and made use of gigantic 40-inch rubber despite a stock ride height. The new truck is a bit more extreme, trading that old-school 5.7-liter V-8 for the potent 6.4-liter engine provided by the Rubicon 392. The new build also retains the stock suspension package from the Rubicon 392 model, but swaps out the stock Dana 44 axle for more robust Dana 60s with 5.38 gears. Those beefier axles help support the truck’s massive 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler mud-terrain tires, which come installed on a set of 20-inch beadlock wheels. The stock fenders have been replaced with a set of flared carbon units, which help give the truck a purposeful stance. A Poison Apple Red paint job and a red-tinted bikini top are a nice nod to the original concept as well.

Wrangler 4xe Willys Dispatcher Concept

The second Wrangler build looks even further back in brand history, paying respects to the early civilian model Jeep from the post-war era . Based on the 4xe hybrid model, this Willys Dispatcher Concept gets some old-school appearance tweaks, including custom steel bumpers at both ends. The hood also features stamped “Willys” branding, which it shares with the original seven-barred product. Upgraded Dana 50 axles with 4.70 gears help increase capability, as do the Super Traxion 36-inch tires. That rubber comes wrapped around retro-style steel wheels, which are finished in a cream hue. The SUV itself is finished in a bespoke shade of Element 115 Green paint, which is accented nicely by the blacked out windshield banner. The best looking part of this custom SUV is the interior, complete with distressed saddle leather and houndstooth inserts throughout. The headrests have been pulled from the seats to improve that retro appearance. It’s the sort of thing we’d love to see make its way to the production models, however unlikely. The throwback style Warn Winch is another nice touch and helps to round out the package.

Gladiator High Top Concept

The Gladiator High Top Concept is a bit less of an involved build, borrowing mostly from the Jeep Performance Parts catalog. Upgrades include items like an AccuAir air suspension system, which work with Dana 60 axles at both ends to support 4x4 endeavors. The suspension system is put to the ground via a gigantic set of 40-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3s, which come wrapped around a set of 18-inch KMC Grenade Crawl beadlock wheels. A set of flat fender flares and AEV bumpers ensure that the large rubber is covered and ready for road-use, while giving the pickup some additional flair. Out back you’ll find a truck bed storage system by Decked, which brings a bit of overlanding capability to the build. A Warn Winch and some rock slider steps have also been added should any off-roading adventures take a turn for the worse.

Vacationeer Concept

Rounding out the 2024 Easter Jeep Safari lineup is the Grand Wagoneer-based Vacationeer Concept. The design is a clear nod to the original Wagoneer models, complete with the oh-so lovely wood grain graphics missing from the current production model. The woody look pairs very nicely with the Spearmint paint, which has slightly more white in the mix than the aforementioned Element 115 color. The wheel openings have also been massaged to make room for the larger 35-inch tires, which come wrapped around 18-inch Method Race wheels. A 1.5-inch suspension lift adds a bit of aggression to the stance, while bringing a bit more off-road capability to the table. The rear rows of seats have been removed in favor of a carbon-fiber RedTail Overland Skyloft, which serves as a passthrough rooftop tent for ideal camping conditions. Under the hood sits a high output variant of the Hurricane inline-six engine, which provides 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. That said, the real highlight of this build is found on the interior, where Jeep enlisted the assistance of fashion designer Kiel James Patrick. The custom flannel seats feature famous Jeep models from years gone by, and fit with the theme perfectly. This is exactly how the Grand Wagoneer should have looked in production form, but we’ll settle for a concept like this one.
