To travel and experience Andaman Islands, you'll first have to reach here. This is fairly easy if the destination was located in mainland India, but since its not, you only have two ways to reach here.

Reaching Andaman from Bangalore by Flight:

There are two flights available from Bangalore daily that will take you to Andaman directly. These flights are usually from Go Air and IndiGo and can cost a bit extra, since they are direct.

Flight From Bengaluru to Port Blair (Capital city of Andaman)  

The Andaman Islands is situated about 1800 km from Bengaluru and a direct flight from Bangalore to Andaman will take around 2 Hours 30 Minutes to reach the capital city of Andaman Islands, Port Blair. If you are taking a connecting flight from Chennai then your travel time can increase up to 5 - 8 Hours depending upon the next available flight.  The two major airlines that fly from Bangalore to Port Blair are  

1) GoIndigo

No, other airlines have a direct flight from Bangalore to Port Blair as of 2022. Both the airlines take 2 Hours and 30 Minutes to reach Port Blair and the timings vary from early hours till afternoon.

Please make sure you are at Bangalore airport (Kempegowda International Airport at least 2 hours before departure)  

However, before you make a choice, you need to keep the cost in mind. An ordinary flight to the island could range from Rs. 7000 to Rs 12000 each side depending upon your time of travel from Bangalore.

You can even plan a summer visit, between April and June, as the evenings and mornings are very pleasant with cool breeze wafting in from the sea, though the late-mornings and afternoons remain unbearable with temperature peaking to 37 degree Celsius. Q. Which is the most famous beach in Andaman? A. The Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island is undoubtedly the most stunning beach in the island and should be a part of your itinerary no matter whatever Andaman tour packages you go for. Among the most popularly visited beach in Havelock Island, the Radhanagar Beach is around 11 kilometre southwest of the Havelock jetty with plenty of boats plying to it through the day. The beach is a snowy-white stretch of sand fringing the azure waters. The sky appears a remarkable blue from here and sunsets are the most breathtaking at this beach. Plan an early morning visit when the crowds are leaner. Q. What are the best sites to go snorkelling in Andaman? A. IndiGo and SpiceJet popularly run flights on this route. Q. Can the Andaman be visited in the summer months? A. Yes, it can be. The presence of the Bay of Bengal moderates the temperature and keeps it pleasant for exploration. The day temperature can get as high as 37 degree Celsius between April and June, so it is better to avoid the peak afternoon for your sightseeing. The average summer temperature is around 24 degree Celsius and ideal to go around Port Blair, Havelock, Neil Islands and Diglipur. Q. Are there cruises to the Andaman? A. There are government-operated ships to the Andaman from Vizag, Chennai and Kolkata, but these are nothing like the fancy cruise liners you would imagine. The booking of these need to be made from the shipping service office of the respective city. Though details on timings are posted on the official Andaman ship schedule website about 15 days ahead of the departure day of the ship. There are no more than one to two ships a week. Q. How to commute from Port Blair to the other islands? A. There are private ferries that connect Port Blair with Havelock and Neil Islands. What sort of nightlife does Port Blair have? A. There are pockets in the capital that offer a lively setting for a good drink and dinner. Particularly popular with tourists and locals as well are Nico Bar and Seashells Hotel that have live music and poisons of your choice. Don’t expect a discotheque or a night club, but there are ample cosy spaces to spend a nice evening, have a few beers, or a cocktail. A. The monsoon months between July and September are the low months in terms of tourism in Andaman. Torrential rains, high tides and frequent storms make it difficult to enjoy the beach or explore the islands. Many places become inaccessible at this time of the year. The wilderness also comes into its own, and there could be more than one spotting of dangerous bugs and insects. The ferry service is affected - cancelled too more often, the seas are swollen and unfit for a swim far less diving and snorkelling. Part of Middle Andaman, Long Island is a unique place with stunning stretches of sand and non-motorable roads. There is a Lalaji Bay Beach, a marble-white sand bar skirting a deep blue sea, the Merk Bay Beach and the Guitar Island that take about a whole day and can be done by hiring a private charter. For bird watchers, backpackers, photographers, and of course certified divers, this place is paradise. Q. How many Ross Islands are there in the Andaman? A. There are two of them by the same name. One is an island pair called Ross and Smith Islands in North Andaman and is a 20-minute boat ride from Diglipur’s Aerial Bay Jetty. The island is unspoilt and perfect for snorkelling or simply swimming in the sea. The second Ross Island is an erstwhile British administrative headquarters, a 20-minute boat ride from the Aberdeen Jetty in Port Blair. Being frequent wanderers, my friends and I planned to go for a venturesome vacation, away from the demanding city life. After checking out our dream destination list, we ended up searching Andaman tour packages on the internet. I had been following TravelTriangle facebook page and used to check numerous lucrative packages. We visited their website where we could customize our Andaman packages. We wanted our experience to be more adventurous than luxurious, we mentioned our requirements at TravelTriangle website and soon our Travel expert shared an itinerary with us, planned according to our requirements. We booked our Andaman travel packages via TravelTriangle which included airfares, transfers, cabs, stay, snorkeling, guide fee and entry tickets to monuments and museums.

We arrived at Port Blair airport from where we were escorted to our hotel by the travel representative. We visited Cellular Jail and Corbyn Cove Beach on our first day of Andaman tour . The light and sound show at Cellular jail induced a surge of patriotism amongst us. We experienced a mild rain shower at Corbyn Cove Beach but it didn't impact our excitement rather gave us a few unexpected cherishing moments.

On the second day, we planned for Scuba diving for which we travelled to Havelock via ferry. Here we ventured into the deep water for about 30 minutes organized by the diving centre near our resort. It was an invigorating experience which was followed by the breathtaking views of RadhaNagar Beach. We could feel the fresh sea breeze and spent some lazy time, relaxing at the beach.

Next day, we went to the Elephant Beach, a popular destination for water sports. We started our day with sea walking and snorkeling which made us admire the corals, marine plants and starfishes, followed by jet skiing amidst the turquoise-blue water of sea. Later, we went for a balloon ride that offers bird’s eye view of this immaculate place. Our next destination was Neil Island where we headed to Bharatpur Beach and took a glass-bottom boat ride. We enjoyed the vibrant corals and fishes through the bottom of our boat. Later we went to Laxmanpur beach clad in white shell sand and Howrah bridge which is a bridge-like rock with two living natural corals. The same day we came back to Port Blair. Our stress buster expedition reached its end and we enjoyed every minute spent at this beautiful yet adventurous place.

I love travelling as that's the easiest way to refresh the mind, body and soul. Being a doctor by profession keeps me quite busy and travelling is an escape I seek to rejuvenate. After reaching Baratang Island, we took a boat ride which lead us to the Limestone Caves.

On the third day, we took a ferry to Havelock Island which was a mesmerizing experience.We had a candlelight dinner at the resort and admired the impeccable beauty of this place. Next day, we went to Neil Island and explored its many gems. One of the most beautiful experiences of our Andaman tour was visiting the Chidiyatapu Sunset point. We also went to TSG Bella Bay and enjoyed the amazing dinner and music. On our last day of Andaman vacations we went to Ross Island before heading to the airport.

Its believed that Andaman is usually visited by honeymooning couples but I enjoyed holidaying at Andaman with my family as it enthralled each one of us irrespective of our age and taste. Being a travel enthusiast, I had explored around 22 states of India and received numerous trekker awards for my passion and craving of biking and trekking tours. This time I planned to visit Andaman Islands and was attracted with a social media advertisement of TravelTriangle detailing about the Andaman trip. On my first day in Andaman, I went to Corbyn’s Cove, a serene place surrounded by jet-skis. It was this day when I went for the most-awaited Scuba diving and the glance of marine life was prodigious. Later, I went to Ross Island, the former headquarters of the British Colony. Travelling has been my passion for the past years but the experience I cherished at Andaman Islands was one of its kinds.

Crew experience was more transnational, seats were so close together (LtoR and FtoB) that it was difficult to enjoy much of anything. When the person in front leaned back, there is no space for me. Sadly it was a flight to be endured not experienced.

i bought a biz class fare but a few days before vistara always changes my biz class flight to economy .. happened to me 4 times .. seated could be wider .. boarding could be more organized .. crew did their best but not enough resources all in all very poor experience

Indigo attempts to make you pay for a seat during check in. I opted to not do this. The result - they allotted me and my minor son seats apart. In the interest of making maximum money, they seem to have lost common sense too. Similarly, even during the flight, the crew are busy trying to serve food to those who’ve already paid for it. By the time they’re done, it’s time to land and no one else is able to get anything. Sadly this seems to be what makes them profitable, customers just need to bear with it till a better airline comes along.

I did not like the communication gap existing amongst the staff and the customer. My flight to Nagpur was delayed by two and half hours but it was informed to me on email ( not by W.A. or SMS) when I have already left my home in Baner area. I was painfully detained at airport with luggage when the gate no. 10 was changed to 5. I'll never recommend your flight to anybody.

Seats don't recline, no charging points. New aircraft and very clean. Crew should serve some water atleast.

There was inordinate delay without any plausible reason. This has become a normal feature of Indigo now a days.

Communication was terrible. Flight was delayed for 4-5 hours in DC (on the front end, and also after we boarded, we had to get off - some issue with fueling the old plane correctly). There was little to no information on timing or what was happening. Once we reach Delhi airspace, apparently there was weather that caused us not to land - we were actually near the ground, saw the run way, and lifted back up to the sky after being sooo close. Then we circled for about 30 minutes, and they decided to go to Jaipur to land until the weather cleared and to refuel. Again, once we landed in Jaipur (wrong city), there was little to no information on timing or what was happening. Then we heard that the crew was reaching their 24 hours. We sat on the place, on the tarmac for another 3 HOURS, with no food and not enough water for everyone on the flight. Then, they kicked us off the plane with no plan, in the wrong city. We went thru customs, got our bags (thank goodness), and had to ask a bunch of staff what was happening and what to do. Eventually, their soltuion was to bus people back to Delhi (like 6 hours we were told) but not everyone would fit on the bus, and unknown timing on when it would leave. At this point it was 9PM (we were scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 11AM...). My husband and I decided to risk it and take a cab that we had to pay ourselves (about $200 US dollars) to get to Delhi (about 5 hour drive). We both had terrible trips back to the US as well - almost missed connecting flight, forced to pay for carry-on luggage (a small back pack!) and duty-free goods by the Air India staff last minute. Just terrible experience all around. Never again with AI! The ONLY good thing was the air hostesses were kind and patient - example: they made sure people with food allergies got their correct. However, the TV's in our entire row did not work so I'm glad we brought our own entertainment......
