2016 Srixon AD333 Tour

GM verdict: This is a product that does exactly what it promises. On approach shots and around the green it feels and performs a lot like the brand's premium Z-Star ball. It produced impressive spin on approach shots, and felt great off the face of a wedge and putter. Interestingly, the feel on full shots was slightly firmer off the face, more like the standard AD333. Durability is also good for a ball with a urethane cover. The Spin Skin coating proved effective at controlling both the spin and distance from any area around the green. From the teeing area, the AD333 Tour feels explosive at impact. The ball gives a more penetrating flight, so I was able to control the trajectory more consistently, particularly in windy conditions.

The short game performance of the Srixon AD333 Tour is very impressive. As soon as you move from premium to mid price range golf balls, you often notice a drop off in short game control and a firmer feel off the face of your wedge and putter. This is not the case here. The ball checks on the second bounce as you'd expect from a much more expensive offering.

Faster swingers might notice a little too much spin. However, it is important to say that this was something we did not detect during our extensive testing.

Golf Monthly's digital editor Neil Tappin reviews the second generation of the Srixon AD333 Tour golf ball, which offers premium performance at an affordable price tag

Key technology: Srixon AD333 Tour

The 2016 update carries the same name as the 2014 AD333 Tour , but now launches higher and spins less for longer distance on all shots. That was possible thanks to a new Energetic Gradient Growth core that is five compression points softer to aid distance and deliver a softer feel. With a firm outer layer that softens towards the centre, the core is precisely cured at different temperatures to achieve stiffness variations in a design that aids long-term durability and consistent power distribution from shot-to-shot. The three-piece ball is covered by a thin and soft Urethane cover thats aids overall softness by 21% compared to the previous AD333 Tour to improve feedback off the face.

Full Srixon AD 333 Tour Review

The 2016 version of the Srixon AD333 Tour continues the franchise nicely. The long game performance is solid - any player, no matter what you swing speed will see good distance and a strong flight. You would expect that from a traditional golf ball brand. Where this really comes into its own is with the spin around the greens. The ball checks on the second bounce in exactly the way you would expect from a premium priced golf ball.

Srixon UltiSoft review

If you are looking to test a new ball and perhaps don't want to pay the hefty price tag attached to a premium ball, this is a must. The short game control is simply superb and whilst the cover offers plenty of spin and feel, there appeared no drop off in durability.

Will suit... players with average swing speeds after plenty of spin around the greens.

Srixon AD333 Golf Ball Review

Srixon AD333 Golf Ball

The Srixon AD333 golf balls are a popular choice among golfers looking for a mid-range priced option that delivers excellent performance on the course. These golf balls offer a winning combination of advanced technology and impressive durability, making them a cost-effective choice for golfers. One of the standout features of the AD333 is the 3rd Generation SpinSkin, which provides enhanced control on greenside shots. This is particularly beneficial for golfers who are looking to improve their spin performance and have more control over their shots around the green.

Updated February 2024 to update current pricing information.

Srixon’s most popular golf ball is the AD333, hands down.  While the brand makes lots of different balls that appeal to everyone from Tour Players to rank beginners, the AD333 benefits the everyman.  This ball gives you the best of both worlds.  It’s low compression limits spin off the tee for maximum distance, yet it’s soft around the green where you need control the most.  Even though the AD333 has been around since 2006, it’s continued to get better and better every year.  That’s already proven to be the case in 2022.

Srixon Men's AD333 Golf Balls, White, One Dozen (2017 Version)

Key Features

  • New FastLayer Core provides longer, straighter shots.
  • 338 Speed Dimple Pattern reduces drag and sidespin.
  • Spin Skin with SeRM features a molecular coating on the cover that allows it to interact with the grooves on short irons and wedges for increased spin.

Who Should Buy the Srixon AD333 Golf Ball?

While elite players might prefer a ball in the Z-Star family, the AD333 is suitable for just about everyone else. Players with slower swing speeds or that have trouble getting the ball in the air will benefit from this ball’s low-spin core. That doesn’t mean that feel and control are sacrificed, however.  Players have provided excellent feedback in this regard.  Whether you’re looking for more distance, control, or some of both, the AD333 can certainly help you shoot lower scores.

Srixon AD333 Golf Ball Detailed Review

Design and technology.

The headline story with the two-piece Srixon AD333 golf ball is the FastLayer Core.  It’s designed to deliver both exceptional ball speed and feel.  The core also lowers compression from 77 to 72 to produce more penetrating flight, especially with the longer clubs. The cover employs what Srixon calls Spin Skin with SeRM.  This unique coating digs deeper into iron and wedge grooves than most golf balls so that you’re able to maximize spin and control. Golfers also like this ball’s unique alignment aid.  Its light blue finish is the perfect contrast to show up vividly in almost any playing condition. Lastly, the all-new 338 Speed Dimple Pattern reduces drag in comparison to previous models.  The result is straighter, more penetrating shots.

Srixon AD333 Golf Ball Review

  • Updated FastLayer Core improves ball flight on full shots.
  • Spin Skin with SeRM coating affords feel and control without sacrificing durability.
  • All-new alignment aid benefits golfers on the tee and green.
  • Price point is higher than other, similar balls on the market.
  • May not be the best ball for advanced players with fast swing speeds.
  • Penetrating ball flight characteristics may not be perfect for golfers that like to hit the ball high.

Srixon AD333 Golf Ball 2

The Srixon AD333 is available in white and yellow.  It has a compression of 72.  The ball retails for around $45 per dozen.

Our Experience

I’ve long been a fan of Srixon golf balls.  While I’m most familiar with the Z-Star series, I recently put the AD333 in play. While this ball didn’t spin quite as much as some of the Z-Star balls, it provided me plenty of control and feel on short shots.  What I was especially impressed with were its ball flight characteristics off the tee and on long shots.  In comparison with other balls, the flight was noticeably straighter and more penetrating.  If you play in windy conditions, this ball is a great choice. On the whole, it’s not difficult to see why golfers of varying ability levels love this ball so much.  It’s performance from tee to green more than lives up to the hype.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the srixon ad333 golf ball perform in wet conditions.

In wet conditions, the Srixon AD333 golf ball delivers exceptional performance and durability. Its advanced design and lower compression core provide great control and distance, making it an ideal choice for customizing your game in any weather.

Can the Srixon AD333 Golf Ball Be Personalized With Custom Logos or Designs?

Yes, the Srixon AD333 golf ball can be personalized with custom logos or designs. I’ve seen options for customization on the manufacturer’s website. Also, the durability testing showed excellent results, ensuring long-lasting personalization.

Are There Any Specific Storage Recommendations for the Srixon AD333 Golf Balls to Maintain Their Performance?

I store Srixon AD333 golf balls in a cool, dry place to maintain performance. Long-term storage may affect the ball’s characteristics, so I rotate my stock often. Proper storage ensures consistent playability and durability.

Maintaining the Spinskin coating on Srixon AD333 golf balls is key. I use mild soap and water to clean them. The coating enhances spin control on greenside shots. Plus, it’s water-resistant, so performance in the rain stays consistent.

New Srixon AD333 Golf Ball Review! Is this golf's MOST POPULAR ball?

The Srixon AD333 golf ball is one of the most popular balls in the sport and this has been proven by its longevity in the game.

Now in its impressive 10th series, the Srixon AD333 does not let you down in terms of performance, distance and spin rate around the greens.

srixon ad333 tour review

Although more expensive and premium golf balls are manufactured to perform better, the Srixon AD333 has always been a more affordable option and it currently stands at £27 per dozen balls.

They are a two-piece, low compression ball that is suited to any golfer and Alex from GolfMagic went down to Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate to test their performance.

The Details

The Srixon AD333 ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of golfers, but specifically for those with higher handicaps and slower back swings.

They are cheaper than the premium golf balls made by TaylorMade and Titleist, but this does not mean that their performance diminishes.

The AD333 is very successful, much like the Srixon Distance, and they both provide a nice and soft feel off the clubface in and around the greens.

They are comfortable to hit, but as you know, they are a two-piece ball so they do not produce the same responsive spin levels as premium-priced golf balls.

New Srixon AD333 Golf Ball Review! Is this golf's MOST POPULAR ball?

However during your round, if you were to grab a TaylorMade TP5 golf ball and a Srixon AD333 and blanked out their identity, it would be hard to differentiate in terms of performance and durability.

It is a versatile golf ball and this is why it is suited to a variety of golfers who have had a variety of experiences in the game.

The Verdict

There is a simple answer as to why the Srixon AD333 is so popular. They have always been at an affordable price and they perform very consistently.

New Srixon AD333 Golf Ball Review! Is this golf's MOST POPULAR ball?

When Alex used data and numbers to assess the ball's performance, he was able to produce good distance and spin levels, which shows that it is a versatile product.

The Srixon AD333 is aimed for a wide demographic in the sport and at £27 per dozen, it will continue to be a popular and well-liked golf ball.

New Srixon AD333 golf ball is longer and straighter than ever

Published: 10 August 2021 Last updated: 10 August 2021

The new Srixon AD333 golf ball for 2021 is straighter and longer than ever.

The new Srixon AD333 golf ball for 2021 is straighter and longer than ever.

Tenth generation of popular-two piece Srixon AD333 golf ball flies longer and straighter than ever thanks to a new core also found in premium Z-Star range.

The Srixon AD333 golf ball is one of the most popular with amateur golfers and has dominated the UK’s two-piece market since it first hit the market in 2006.

RELATED:  Which Srixon ball is right for you?

The new Srixon AD333 is the tenth generation of the two-piece ball.

Now in its tenth generation, Srixon’s latest version uses a lot of the tech you’ll find in the Z-Star series , the premium balls used by the likes of Major champions Shane Lowry and Hideki Matsuyama.

Packaged into a two-piece ionomer construction, the AD333 is designed to provide value and performance to a wide range of golfers. Srixon say the next generation will bring golfers more distance and forgiveness than previous versions thanks to a slight reduction in compression and reformulated FastLayer Core.

The 2021 Srixon AD333 golf ball has a new alignment aid.

The sixth generation FastLayer Core has dropped compression from 77 to 72, which promotes deformation at impact, providing a longer and straighter flight for golfers with moderate swing speeds.

Also found in the Z-Star family, the core is soft in the centre and firmer round its outer edge, working in tandem with Srixon’s unique 338 Speed Dimple Pattern to reduce drag and promote a more penetrating flight.

The tech in the new Srixon AD333 golf ball.

But the AD333 isn’t just about distance. Srixon’s Spin Skin with SeRM, a unique flexible molecular bond coating on each ball, digs deep into wedge and iron grooves to maximise spin for more control and more stopping power.

“This latest generation of AD333 golf balls offers great all-around performance,” said Joe Miller, Srixon Sports Europe’s Product Expert. “With a lower overall compression compared to previous generations, the new AD333 delivers better distance off the tee and enhanced feel when approaching the green.”

The 2021 Srixon AD333 golf ball is available in Pure White and Tour Yellow.

A new and  improved alignment line should also make it easier for users to pick their lines off the tee and on the greens.

Available in Pure White and Tour Yellow, the new Srixon AD333 goes on sale on September 10 with an RRP of £27.
