Charlotte Duck

Hollie Bond and her one-year-old Margot tested out the Joie Tourist stroller to see if it was worthy of its travel-inspired name. In our buying guide to the  best travel strollers , we named this best travel pushchair for taking on a plane because it's stylish, light enough to carry, and easy to fold.

The Joie Tourist stroller is very easy to assemble. ‘I put it together in about five minutes while looking after my busy one-year-old,' said our tester Hollie. 'There are easy-to-follow instructions, but it’s so intuitive you don’t really need them.’ Once assembled, it is a super lightweight pushchair that would be ideal for parents going on holiday with their toddler or wanting something for daily use if they have a small car.

The Joie Tourist has an ‘amazing’ one-handed mechanism to fold it up and down. ‘You can hold your baby or toddler while collapsing and unfolding the pushchair easily,’ added Hollie. It's compact when folded and has a nifty carry handle. Other features include a decent-sized shopping basket, multi-recline positions and an adjustable handle which Hollie - whose husband is tall - particularly appreciated.

While comfortable for the pusher, Hollie struggled with the recline positions and thought the seat a little hard. She also thinks you’d have to invest in a footmuff in winter and a sunshade in summer as the hood doesn’t provide a huge amount of protection. In terms of value, this is a great mid-range option that would suit parents who want a light pushchair that's also compact and easy to get in and out of a car.

The Joie Tourist pushchair, one of the best travel strollers

VIEW AT JOHN LEWIS | £200.00

Stroller weight: 5.92kg | Age Range: Birth to three years  | Price: £200.00

Hollie’s first impression of the Joie Tourist was how light it is. At only 6kg, it’s perfect for taking off on an overseas holiday and you’ll have no worries about lifting it on and off the airport carousel, or in and out of the car boot. As well as its weight, Hollie was impressed by its size. ‘It’s quite a tall buggy (107cm in height), which is a real bonus for our family as my husband is very tall and we’ve struggled in the past to find pushchairs with high enough handles for him to comfortably push,’ she said. ‘The handle is easily adjustable too, so I could put it back to the right height for me very quickly.’

But the standout feature of the Joie Tourist is its brilliant, one-handed folding mechanism, which Hollie described as ‘by far the best I’ve seen on a buggy’. You simply squeeze and slide two buttons on the handle with one hand and the pushchair concertinas down into a three-way fold. To open it out again is just as simple. When it’s folded down, it’s compact enough to fit in a small car’s boot (with space for extra bags) and it has a carry handle so you can move it about when folded down very easily.

Comfort and features

The Joie Tourist uses straps and a buckle to keep children in place. The buckle is easy to click into place and the straps over the shoulder are nice and comfortable thanks to some very soft, spongy pads. The length can still be adjusted easily as the pads have poppers so you can remove them before changing the length of the straps. There’s also the option to have calf support in two positions. ‘As Margot is still quite young and has little legs I used the support in the horizontal position, but it’s good to know I can easily set it down for when she has longer legs,’ said Hollie. The wheels are pretty standard for a travel buggy but if they were any bigger you’d sacrifice how light it is.

One of the features Hollie didn’t like was the shape and design of the seat. The buggy has multi-position-recline options, however, while it’s great that it lies flat for naps, she found that it didn’t go up vertical enough. ‘There’s a simple drawstring to change the seat back position, but, however hard I tried, I could not get the back up straight enough for Margot to be comfortable when she was awake,’ she said. ‘She’s a very inquisitive girl so likes to see what’s going on and so was pulling forward a lot of the time rather than sitting back against the seat.’

Another slight gripe was the seat seemed quite hard and didn’t have particularly deep sides to it, so it isn’t the cosiest option. In terms of storage, the Joie Tourist's basket is average-to-good, but bigger nappy bags and handbags are quite hard to fit through the opening, so you’d want to have several smaller bags with you to make the most of the under-buggy basket.

Value for money

The Joie Tourist costs around £200. ‘There are much cheaper options out there and this feels like a middle of the market sort of price and product to me,’ said Hollie. ‘In terms of how the pushchair looks and feels, I’d say it’s a good mid-range travel option.’ She’d recommend this to busy parents who want a really light pushchair to take on holidays or days out. ‘Anyone who struggles to lift heavy baby products, or who has a small car, will love how light and compact this is and how easy it is to use one-handed,’ she added. It’s a chic-looking stroller, coming in a lovely soft grey, and the adjustable handle is comfy too so ticks the box for style-conscious parents.

Joie Tourist

The Joie Tourist is new for 2019, and straightaway awarded the Red Dot award 2019. This ultralight stroller with a compact fold and a seat that can be reclined fully is also compatible with the Ramble carrycot and Joie car seats. Other Maxi-Cosi-type car seats can also be added to the stroller. Thanks to the width of only 47.1cm, when folded, the stroller is accepted as cabin luggage by some airlines. The folding is also simplified by the fact that after its unlocking, the stroller folds practically by itself. True to its name, the Tourist is an excellent companion for holidays and trips, even with babies from birth.

In the three years creating Strollbery - for free, in our free time, we are proud to have helped thousands of parents from more than 207 countries. And helping is what we've cared about the most.

Being musicians as well, we created a special holiday song for you to share a wintery, Christmas vibe with us. We hope it brings you a bit of calm (we all need it). ♥️

HAPPY STROLLING AND MAGIC HOLIDAYS!

Joie Tourist Features & Specifications

The seat unit, the canopy (hood), the bumper bar, the suspension, the handlebar, the carrycot, the car seat, the accessories & extra features, best deals for joie tourist, parent reviews of the joie tourist, a disappointment.

  • One hand opening and closure
  • Lightweight
  • Decent size basket
  • Stiff and noisy wheels that get stuck on all terrains
  • Harness system unsafe
  • Not enough canopy coverage
  • Flimsy handlebar

Unfortunately this stroller was a disappointment. I already have the Joie Versatrax travel system, and it worked well, so I thought I could buy the lightweight option from the same brand. This stroller is not sturdy, the adjustable handle makes it more flimsy and doesn’t really add anything in terms of comfort. The straps are an absolute nightmare, they come off while using the stroller, and even if the magnetic closure is a good idea, but the overall harness system doesn’t seem safe. The worst part of this stroller though, is that the wheels are stiff and literally get stuck at even the smallest crack or uneven surface. A very uncomfortable experience for both parent and baby. The one hand closure system works well and it’s handy. The footrest is included and comfortable. The canopy doesn’t provide enough coverage unfortunately. Overall, not a great option, despite the competitive price.

It's a travel stroller, so it's perfect for vacations and going to the mall

  • Adjustable handle
  • Adjustable backrest
  • Adjustable leg rest
  • Spacious basket
  • Shoulder strap
  • Stroller storage bag (you won't get your car boot dirty)
  • Smaller wheels
  • Incline of the seat

We are very satisfied with the stroller. Very well made English pram. It is light - less than 6 kg, and not at all unstable. It is compact and takes up a minimum of space when folded. It fits a larger child as well.

The handle is adjustable, so it is also suitable for taller parents. It has an adjustable backrest, up to full lie flat. The leg rest can also be adjusted. The basket under the pram is quite roomy. The seating is a little bit sort of tilted back, which bothered me at first, but our son doesn't mind it and he likes the stroller and likes to sit there. The wheels are tiny, but they can go over bumps and small stones. Of course, it's not for very bumpy roads - it's a travel stroller, so it's perfect for vacations and going to the mall ;-).

The child is, unfortunately, simply not comfortable in the seat

  • ease of use
  • small folded size
  • the child is simply not comfortable in the seat
  • not spacious enough for that weight capacity

I like the ease of use and the small folded size, but the child is, unfortunately, simply not comfortable in the seat. It is also not spacious enough for that weight capacity.

Not worth your money

Not worth your money.

Apart from the canopy size and the backrest, I have no other objections

  • easy to manage
  • can take the weight
  • holds and unfolds by itself/one button
  • small canopy
  • the backrest cannot be upright

We have been using it from the beginning as a 3in1 because you can buy a Joie compatible basket for a newborn.

The stroller is feather light and resistant, it fits behind the seat in the car, very easy to manage on the roads as we drove them on macadam and rough roads without any problems (only gravel was the problem).

The canopy could be bigger, it needs 10 cm to be parallel with the seat and to provide full shade. The backreast cannot be placed under 90 in sitting position and the baby is really laid back.

It carries a lot more than 15 / 22kg because I used it almost like a working stroller (drove the baby + everything from the market + a couple of tens of kg of soil for flowers in the basket below). Honestly, apart from the canopy size and the backrest, I have no other objections and we really squeezed maximum from it.

My boy cries when he’s in it because he can’t sit up straight

  • Light weight
  • Folds up easily
  • Feels like it’s going to fall to bits when you push it
  • The seat isn’t upright, my little boy looks so uncomfortable in it
  • The wheels are so small

I bought this pushchair to go on holiday with but it was a complete waste of money as my little boy hates it. He cries when he’s in it because he can’t sit up straight and he’s so uncomfortable. So I’ve now got to purchase another one.

The seat is spacious enough, but it's very slanted

  • lightweight
  • quick-folding
  • adjustable handlebar
  • the seat is very slanted - I wish it would be more upright
  • small, noisy wheels
  • too much give in the handle - it moves more than I'd like

The seat is spacious enough, but it's very slanted (my kid slides down a bit). It is a compromise to the price, but for occasional use, it will do.

It's light and compact

We got this pram because my wife has to carry it upstairs (2nd floor) daily. It's light and compact for that, she's happy about that.

Too many downsides for the price and promises of this nice stroller

  • Does not hold the seat in its position (my baby weights 20 pounds)
  • Seat does not go upright, the baby is half seated like on a swimming pool bench
  • Front wheels are too small, gets stuck in minimal imperfections on the sidewalk

The system to hold the seat in the upright position is too weak. In less than a month, it was damaged. Also, the seat does not get to sit upright, which looks very uncomfortable. Finally, the front wheels are too weak, and the stroller gets stuck on the minimal batch on the sidewalk or stone. The rest is fine, but it has too many downsides for the price and promises of this nice stroller.

You have to keep in my its not an expensive buggy

  • padded seat
  • full recline
  • adjustable - rotating handle
  • one-hand recline (inklining is two-handed, though)
  • the wheels take in a lot of gravel
  • the hood is very short
  • the seat is angled
  • foam-covered handlebar
  • noisy on cobblestones
  • straps to recline feel weak and cheap

Fo holidays and trips only, it's a good pushchair. Other than that, I keep in our car as a spare, so it usually goes out only when doing a lot of shopping or at the grandma's. Works fine like that. You have to keep in my it's not an expensive buggy.

Your questions about the Joie Tourist

Will my 17kg and tall (109cm) 3 year old fit in this in emergencies? That is, when she absolutely refuses to walk. I'm mainly looking at this for a small back up/travel pram for my 10 month old, but it would be useful if it could hold the 3 year old for 10 minutes.

Looking to get a stroller under £200 if you have any other suggestions. The pram doesn't have to be airplane approved but must be lightweight.

If truly only in emergencies, you can definitely fit your tall little one in it. It won't be a spacious, high comfort ride, but it will do. As I learned with my sons, in an emergency, ANYTHING will do really, even if a tight fit.

I would also suggest the Ickle Bubba Globe in that price, and also the Chicco Goody+ (should be in John Lewis).

I was hesitating to buy it due to reviews about the seat... I want to know if it will be comfortable for my baby, the seat on it, and his back will be straight and comfy?!

Hello, Hala,

To be honest, no, it is not a very comfy seat. It is not straight/upright, it is at a very slanted angle so many children are sliding down, being held just by the harness. This is truly just an occasional stroller and for sure not a comfort stroller for everyday/multiple hours' use.

1. hauck travel n care stroller.

Rrp: £ 149.95

Description

The Hauck Travel N Care Stroller was awarded Gold for Best Lightweight Buggy/Stroller  at the Mother&Baby Awards 2024.

The Hauck Travel N Care Stroller is a budget-friendly yet premium option for parents on the go. Setting it up is a breeze with its simple assembly, and the intuitive one-handed fold mechanism makes it an amazing time-saver for busy parents.

While the Hauck Travel N Care Stroller boasts many impressive features, including an adjustable footrest, removable/washable covers, and ample storage basket, some users have noted that the canopy could be extended further to provide more extensive coverage from the sun, especially during intense sunlight hours.

Our mum tester said: "Really compact and easy to open, especially if you’re on your own! I like that you can sling it over your shoulder easily, too. It’s a very nice looking stroller, lies quite flat for naps and the sun shade covers right over, probably more so than other strollers I’ve used so extra shading in the sun. Had the olive green colour, which is lovely and am aware it comes in other nice colours too. The basket below is a good size. It’s smooth to push along, too. Overall, very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it."

2. John Lewis & Partners Everyday Stroller

www.johnlewis.com

The John Lewis & Partners Everyday Stroller was awarded Silver for Best Lightweight Buggy/Stroller  at the Mother&Baby Awards 2024.

The John Lewis & Partners Everyday Stroller offers convenience and practicality. We loved the lock of this travel pram, which gives stylish at an affordable price point.

We found this pram was amazing for city living and smooth pavements but struggled a little on more uneven terrain. So, if you are looking for something that looks amazing for a city break, this is an amazing choice.

Our mum tester said: "Being easy to both collapse and fold open, it’s become our preferred choice for when we decide to take shorter walks to get out of the house. It’s also proven to be an invaluable failsafe for those situations where one of us has ‘forgotten’ that the pram is in the boot of whichever car they happen to have driven off to work in, meaning we don’t have to carry baby far on the way to nursery."

  • Easy to collapse
  • Suitable on smooth pavements

3. Joolz Aer

Best sustainable travel stroller.

www.joolz.com

The Joolz Aer was awarded Bronze for Best Lightweight Buggy/Stroller  at the Mother&Baby Awards 2024.

With a width of just 44cm, the lightweight Joolz Aer can be taken straight onto the plane and popped into the overhead locker.

The pushchair is available in three colours, including refined Black, which is made using recycled plastic bottles rescued from our oceans.

The large, extended hood offers UPF 50 sun protection to keep your baby safe, while the carry strap will come in handy if your baby decides they'd rather walk.

Its robust construction and premium feel make it suitable for both urban and rural walks, accommodating children comfortably while being easy to manoeuvre for parents of varying heights.

The Aer's compact fold and integrated shoulder strap make taking this pram out quite literally a walk in the park. It fits into car boots effortlessly and still leaves ample space for other essentials like trikes, scooters and shopping. We loved that despite its lightweight design, the stroller maintains a high-quality feel.

Our mum tester said: "We bought this buggy when I was eight months pregnant for our 2.5-year-old and I just wish we had got it sooner. It's so lightweight yet feels sturdy. It collapses small enough so it can be stored easily and is also great for restaurants as it again goes down so easily so you have more room. We can't recommend this buggy enough, but it's worth every penny."

4. Mamas and Papas Airo Pushchair

Best for travelling abroad.

www.mamasandpapas.com

Super-slim and perfect from birth and for growing toddlers, the Airo pushchair is perfect for navigating tight spaces. Not only is it Mamas & Papas' lightest ever pushchair, but the stroller can even be worn as a backpack when your little one would prefer to toddle on their own.

It folds with one hand and is solid and sturdy, thanks to the unique dual-sided wheel lock. With adjustable positions for your baby, a bumper bar, and a quick-fit five-point harness, you can be safe in the knowledge that your little one is comfy and secure.

Mother&Baby Editor, Maria Martin, said: "Myself and my 1-year-old have been testing the Airo out for about 15 months. The pushchair has served us well as a light compact travel assistant that's come in useful when boarding aeroplanes and also when out on busy city day trips. It folds down to a compact size and is super lightweight. We've been able to fit this into every car boot possible, and the under-seat storage compartment is big enough for snacks, water bottles, hats, etc. We added a couple of buggy clips too, which have helped attach a change bag whilst on the move. "I love that the seat can lie completely flat and that the Airo can be used with a sun-shield/insect net (sold separately) – handy when nap times are calling, but home is nowhere in sight."

  • Cabin-friendly

5. Graco Myavo Compact Stroller

Best compact travel stroller.

gracobaby.eu

With an automatic, one-handed fold, the Graco Myavo is compact and lightweight, which makes it easy to take on the go.

It has the option of a three- or five-point harness system to keep your little one secure and a detachable bumper bar to make it easier to put them in and take them out.

The compact design and integrated folding lock ensure hassle-free transportation and storage, fitting easily into car boots and leaving ample space for other essentials.

Additionally, the UPF50+ knit canopy provides amazing comfort and protection from UV rays, enhancing the stroller's appeal and making it a fantastic option for parents planning a holiday.

Despite some minor issues like occasional sliding in the seat and initial difficulty with the one-handed fold, the Graco Myavo excels in usability and build quality. Its smooth manoeuvrability over various terrains and easy recline feature makes it a practical choice for everyday use.

Our Product & Lifestyle writer, Samantha Ball, said: "It's a brilliant compact design, incredibly easy to use and lightweight enough to carry. My daughter was actually happy to stay sat in the stroller and I loved that she felt comfortable enough to stay sat in it, as she would normally try to climb out. The Graco Myavo is definitely a great travel stroller, and the one-handed fold alone was enough to impress me."

6. Silver Cross Zest Stroller

Best quality travel stroller.

The Zest pushchair from Silver Cross is bursting with features to make everyday strolls a breeze.

It is one of the lightest travel prams on the market, perfect for parents who need something light yet robust.

The lie-flat seat and adjustable drawstring recline let you find the most comfortable position for your little one and adjust their seating position without disturbing their nap.

An extendable UPF 50+ hood keeps your little one shaded on sunny days, and an air-flow mesh panel helps to keep them cool and dry.

Customer review: " I bought this pushchair for my five-month-old baby to take on holiday, and it was perfect. Light and cool in the heat, the hood comes far enough over the baby to get them out of the sun and has a UV protection of SPF 50.

"The only drawback, which wasn't really a problem for us but if you rely on the under-pushchair storage, then it can be difficult to access when the baby is in the pushchair and lying down, and unlike the bigger, more expensive ones, it's not really an all-terrain pushchair, although it moves perfectly over hard ground. Otherwise, it's a great little pushchair."

  • Fun designs
  • Easy to manoeuvre
  • Convenient to carry
  • Suspension across all terrains could be improved

7. Cosatto Woosh 3

Customer review: "My son naps really well in this and loves the bright colours and bold pattern – we tried one with a dragon design. It's smooth and sturdy to push, even on potholed streets. The hood offers excellent coverage. I love the large basket, valuables pouch and matching rain cover, cleverly stowed beneath the seat. Overall, it's a little heavy, but I can forgive that for such a robust and reliable runaround."

It is lightweight and so compact. It has a comfortable shoulder strap so it's easy to carry for trips or even just to take up less room in the trunk when you have other baby stuff to haul around. I got green, which is the prettiest colour for our sweet little boy. The car seat adapter is easy to add to the stroller, and his Nuna Air car seat just pops right on. I love this stroller and how it can grow with our little boy for several years to come."

The Hauck Sport has an easy and compact fold that will fit most car boots, so getting where you need to be is a breeze. Its lightweight frame makes it easy to push around, and the basket beneath the seat has enough space for all your shopping trip essentials.

Review: "I was pleasantly surprised about this stroller. Considering how little it costs, it really does do the job! I bought it to take on holiday with me, and it was easy to fold, super light and worked absolutely fine. It doesn't have any fancy features, but you really can't expect them for the price. I'd recommend this product."

  • Easy to fold
  • Extremely lightweight
  • Wheels could be improved

What to consider when buying the best travel strollers

Carry strap: Some lightweight pushchairs have shoulder straps or storage bags to make them easy to carry. Think about whether this is a feature you actually need.

Folding mechanism:  Folding and unfolding your pushchair should be easy and intuitive, even when you're holding your baby. One that's freestanding when folded will take up less space in your accommodation when it's not in use.

Pocket:  Somewhere to stash your valuables is a handy feature in a holiday stroller. Check that it's big enough to hold your purse, phone and keys.

Wheels:  Some lightweights have adjustable wheels that can handle different types of terrain. Lockable swivel wheels are ideal for manoeuvring between shiny shop floors or hotel lobbies and rougher ground. If you're heading for the beach, choose all-terrain wheels with good suspension.

Brake:  The brake should be easy to apply and release. Check that it's flip-flop-friendly!

Hood:  This protects your baby from the wind and sun – a must-have in a holiday pushchair. It should extend far enough to give full coverage of your baby's body, not just her face, even when the seat is fully reclined.

Fabric:  Sun lotion, sand and ice cream are a sticky combination, so check that the pushchair fabric is easy to clean. Also, if you're heading somewhere warm, a pushchair with breathable fabric will help keep your baby cool on a very hot day.

Seat recline:  For babies under six months, choose a pushchair with a seat that reclines flat. For older babies, check that the seat reclines far enough for comfy naps on the go and that the seat is easy (and quiet!) to adjust when your baby nods off in the pushchair. The upright seat position should be at the right angle for a toddler to see everything around her without straining forward.

Harness and buckles:  Look for a five-point harness that's easy to adjust, fasten and undo, as you're likely to be popping your child in and out of a holiday pushchair more frequently than usual. Check that inquisitive fingers won't be able to undo it!

Shopping basket:  The bigger, the better! A large storage basket should hold everything you need for a day out and more. Is there plenty of space for buckets and spades, plus beach towels and sun cream?

How we chose the best travel strollers

With several mums on the team, Mother&Baby is best placed to find the best travel strollers as used and tested in real life by our own babies. Plus, we have a huge panel of real mums who test products every year for the annual  Mother&Baby Awards , meaning we get to find out the best award-winning products that have been put through their paces thoroughly and independently by our readers.

Awards testers are asked to score the product they are reviewing in four areas: usability, design, quality and value for money. Each product is scored out of 10 with each of these areas in mind, and the final score determines which products make the coveted bronze, silver and gold spots in that product category.

For the essential products, our annual  Mother&Baby Awards  shortlist the top products tested, and you can find full reviews from our mum testers provided on the product page. Thousands of our mum and dad testers have been putting these carriers and slings through their paces all year round and reporting back to help us coordinate this list of the best carriers out there.

Our shopping experts have also done their research to find the best travel strollers that have the best specifications with excellent reviews. So, which travel strollers came out on top?

Do you need a travel stroller?

Lightweight travel strollers are the perfect holiday pushchair if your existing buggy feels too cumbersome to travel with. But they're not just for holiday use – lots of parents replace their baby's first pushchair with a lightweight stroller once their baby starts walking, especially when a light, manoeuvrable pushchair is a practical choice. There are compromises to be made, though, and not all are suitable from birth.

How light do you need it to be?

A pushchair is considered lightweight if it is 7kg or less, but some weigh nearly half this! A very light pushchair will inevitably be less robust, so think about just how light you need it to be – will you be lifting it on and off trains with your baby strapped in, or carrying it with your baby in your arms when boarding a plane?

How compact do you need it to be?

When folded, most lightweight pushchairs are compact enough to fit into a standard car boot without taking up all the space. Others are designed to fold even more compactly. Check that it's freestanding when folded, too.

Joie Signature Finiti review

Joie Signature finiti thumbnail

  • Annabelle Lee

In a nutshell

A lightweight, stylish pushchair suitable from birth, which folds compact and pushes like a dream. Optional carrycot and car seat available to create a complete travel system.

What we tested

  • Stylish, smooth to push, comfortable for both baby and toddler, good value for money
  • Folding mechanism isn’t that easy to use when using carrycot, fiddly folding lever, chassis scratches easily

Showing item 1 of 3

Joie Signature finiti official pic

Winning Gold in the MadeForMums 2022 Awards for Best Newborn Pram / Pushchair under £650, the Signature Finiti is one of Joie’s more premium pushchairs, slightly cheaper than the similar Joie Signature x which has the addition of a height-adjustable seat. The Finiti comes in three stylish colours - Oyster (off white), Eclipse (black) and Pine (olive green).

The Joie Signature Finiti can be bought as a stand-alone pushchair or used with adapters, a carrycot and/or car seat to create a versatile travel system which is suitable from birth.

Annabelle tested the Joie Signature Finiti with her newborn baby Orla in the carrycot and her two-year-old son Tadhg using the pushchair. They went on long day trips, short trips and walks covering a variety of different terrains. Annabelle is the Lifestyle Editor at Closer magazine and has been a journalist for 12 years.

What age is the Joie Signature Finiti suitable for?

The Joie Finiti is suitable from birth through to 22kg (approximately 4 years of age). With a newborn, you can either use the lie-flat option on the pushchair or use the carrycot or car seat with adapter attachments.

What were your first impressions of the Joie Finiti?

I was so impressed at how premium and stylish the Joie Finiti pushchair was when I opened the box. The colour, which Joie name Eclipse, is really smart, especially when matched with the tan vegan leather touches. I was equally impressed with the look of the carrycot and surprised at how light it was at just 3.8kg.

Joie Signature Finiti

How easy was the Joie Finiti to build?

It took about half an hour to build the pushchair and the instructions were perfectly adequate and easy to follow. We found fitting the seat cover a little fiddly, but on the whole, the process was straightforward.

How does the Finiti compare to other Joie pushchairs?

Joie's full-feature everyday pushchair collection also includes the Signature Aeria, which is similar in both function and design to the Finiti. The Aeria is a little more expensive as the seat is height adjustable whereas the seat is fixed on the Finiti. The Finiti is definitely more of an everyday, good all-rounder pushchair compared to Joie's lightweight models like the Tourist .

What do you think of the carrycot?

The carrycot was exceptionally light at just 3.8kg, which made taking it on and off the frame really easy. It is stylish and really comfortable for my 8-week old daughter and the mattress base is padded but firm enough for safe sleep.

The carrycot isn’t huge. Joie says it is suitable from birth to 9kg (around six months) which I’d say seems fairly accurate. I think the fact it is quite snug helped my daughter feel cosy, even at just a couple of weeks old.

Joie Signature Finiti carrycot

The fabric is soft and breathable, I tested it by holding it to my face and found it easy to breathe. The handle is vegan leather too and this provides a stylish addition.

How easy is the carrycot to add on/take off the Joie Finiti?

The fact the carrycot is light really helps and it’s easy to take off, whether your baby is still inside or not. On a few occasions when my daughter fell asleep, I brought her inside in the carrycot and she continued her nap in the house. It was really handy being able to do this without waking her.

Is the Joie Finiti easy to fold?

I found it fairly easy to fold the Finiti:

  • Pull the lever on the back of the seat which folds it forward and exposes a pull under the seat
  • Pull this to which collapse the entire pushchair

Our video below shows you how to fold the Joie Finiti with the carrycot and seat unit attached, as well as showing how to change from using a carrycot to a seat unit.

I found I was able to fold one-handed, though the lever part at the beginning can be a little fiddly at first.

The buggy is easy to fold and unfold with the seat attached or you can remove it first depending on your preference. The pushchair can be folded in both parent and forward-facing positions.

I found the frame more fiddly to collapse without the seat or carrycot attached and couldn’t find any videos online on how to do this which was frustrating, though once I knew how it wasn’t too difficult to do. MFM Awards judge Georgina had a similar experience, explaining it is “not that easy to fold when the seat isn’t attached”.

How compact is the Joie Finiti once folded?

The Finiti is impressively compact when folded, measuring just 68 x 63 x 43 cm. It fitted easily in the boot of our Hyundai Tucson with plenty of space for a food shop or other items. Weighing 11.2kg, I also found it easy to lift in and out of the boot. When folded, the buggy self-stands, which is really useful if you are storing it in your hallway.

Fellow MFM tester Nicola also found it “a breeze to lift and carry”, thanks to the carry handle, as did MFM Consumer & Reviews Editor and mum of 3 Christy, who described the Finiti as “compact and easy to carry with a padded hand strap”. Parent tester Danielle did point out however that it “does not lock, so can come open when getting back out of the car.”

How easy is the Joie Finiti to steer?

This is where the Signature Finiti is really impressive. The pram feels sturdy yet lightweight and pushes like a dream. Our drive is gravel and I generally struggle with pushchairs on it, but not with this one! It is light going up kerbs and steps and even pushes efficiently on grass. I found it a little more difficult to manoeuvre with my toddler inside, but of course, he is heavier, and even then, it was still easy enough to push up kerbs and on bumpier roads.

Another MFM parent tester and Mum of two Danielle found the Finiti easy to steer, even pushing one-handed with her toddler on a buggy board. Whilst parent tester Nicola found it was “bumpy on rough ground” she did find the Finiti “moved well and was easy to use with one hand”.

How easy is the Joie Finiti to use on public transport?

I don’t regularly use public transport so we, unfortunately, didn’t get to test this, but I found getting in and out of lifts easy as well as through doorways with high steps so I imagine getting on and off buses and trains would be very smooth.

What’s the chassis like?

The Joie Finiti has a stylish chassis frame with a matte finish, which looks great. I did, however, find it scratched easily and after just a few uses it had some noticeable scratches and marks which was a real shame.

How do you rate the Joie Finiti handle?

The handle on the Finiti is made from vegan leather which is both stylish and comfortable to hold. It’s also quite wide, so I felt like my arms were in a natural position when pushing. I loved the adjustable handlebar, which is really easy to adjust depending on the height of the user. Being 5’11, I found the highest setting really comfortable. My brother who is 6’8 also pushed the pram and said he found it comfortable too, so it works well for tall people at the highest setting.

Joie Signature Finiti handle

What do you think of the seat on the Finiti?

The seat looks plush and is nicely padded - Joie describes it as having ‘flexible spring technology’ suspension, designed to make even the roughest of rides feel smooth.

My son said he was very comfortable in it, though he is coming up for three and I felt he was on the bigger side. One John Lewis reviewer stated that her “2-year-old daughter is tall and this pram fits her perfectly with room to grow”, but if you have an older child or a child who is particularly tall for their age, this pushchair may not offer the longevity of other buggies.

Joie Signature Finiti

What are the recline options?

The seat unit is really easy to recline, with a smooth mechanism that goes from a slight incline to lying completely flat, the latter of which is great if your child tends to fall asleep on the go. One reviewer at Boots.com pointed out that the lie flat on the Finiti really is lie-flat - “unlike some pushchairs say they do but don't!”.

When in a normal seating position, the seat unit is upright and it’s simple to turn the entire seat from parent to front-facing mode.

How effective is the hood on the Joie Finiti?

The hood is UPF50 plus, water repellent and comes with an expandable section for additional coverage for sunny days. The expandable section is ideal if your toddler is having a nap and you want to block out extra light. It's also ventilated which is great peace of mind on hotter days. I loved the handy peephole window so you can check on your child when forward-facing without waking them up.

The hood on the carrycot is equally impressive and successfully kept the sun out of my baby’s face.

Joie Signature Finiti hood

What are the wheels like?

I found the wheels on the Joie Finiti easy to attach to the frame when the pushchair first arrived. They are big and sturdy foam-filled rubber tyres which makes pushing really easy. Joie says they are also puncture-proof, and we certainly didn’t have any issues of this nature.

How effective is the brake on the Joie Finiti?

The brake is a one-touch pedal near the back wheel. It was quick and easy to use and held the pushchair securely in place. The brake was in a good position on the frame - easy to reach but not so obvious that I accidentally triggered it when walking. This was a big positive.

How big is the basket on the Joie Finiti?

The basket is deep (4.5kg capacity) and easily accessible and there was plenty of room for my changing bag and a big bag full of picnic food when we took the pram out on a day trip. I found the basket even easier to access when using the carrycot. There is also a little bag attached to the basket which you can use to zip in your car seat or carrycot adapters - this was really useful. MFM parent tester Danielle also loved the large basket saying “it's a great size and the additional bag it comes with is handy to store things like keys, nappies and wipes for easy access.”

What’s in the box?

What are the additional accessories that you can buy.

  • Joie Baby Ramble Signature Carrycot, £120
  • Joie Signature i-Level car seat with base, £300

Can the pushchair be used with a car seat to create a travel system?

Yes you can pair it with infant carriers such as the new Joie Calmi carrycot-style car seat.

Now you’ve tested it, what would you have wanted to know before purchasing the Joie Finiti?

How satisfying it was to push, I was so impressed. Perhaps before spending this amount of money I’d also want to know that the chassis scratches easily - that was disappointing.

Who would this pushchair be most useful for?

Parents wanting a stylish, easy fold and affordable pram that has the option to turn into a travel system.

Is this pushchair worth the money?

For a toddler pram, it is on the more expensive side but is noticeably nicer to push than my other foldable pushchair. I loved the pram with the carrycot and would find it so useful with the car seat too. It costs £820 for the pushchair with the carrycot, car seat and base, which is good value for a complete travel system - it certainly looks more expensive.

How does the Joie Signature Finiti compare to other similar pushchairs on the market?

Where can i buy the joie signature finiti.

The Joie Signature Finiti is available Boots.com and John Lewis .

MadeForMums verdict:

A stylish and premium looking pushchair suitable from birth that can be used with a carry cot and car seat to create a complete travel system. An easy compact fold and large basket, makes this pushchair a solid all rounder at a medium price point.

Joie Tourist Stroller

Lau2108 · 12/07/2019 00:12

Just wondering if anyone has the Joie Tourist Stroller? Looking for some advice in terms of newborn compatibility. I had a nursery appointment at John Lewis today. Went in with my heart set on the Babyzen Yo-yo and when looking online, really didn't like the Joie Tourist. However when seeing it in store, I loved it! And while I'm not considering buying it based on price, there is a big difference! Joie claim that the Tourist can be used from newborn as it lies flat. However they then say and recommend the use of carrycot for newborn. When talking to the advisers about this, they were a bit vague and I got the impression that they were saying to buy the carrycot to make more of a sale (they already seemed unimpressed that I was favouring the cheaper option over the yo-yo). If you use the Joie Tourist, what would your advice be on this? What age have you used it without the carrycot from? Would you say to use it with the carrycot? Or could I just use it with the car seat fitted (obviously not for long periods of time)? I'm a first time mum so feel I may be being a bit daft with all these questions, but from what I can tell it's quite a new pushchair to the market so there's not tons of info out there for it.

I don't have any experience of this specific pushchair, but if the seat is suitable from birth then you don't need the carrycot. I'd of thought that the seat reclined would be better than car seat as seat will be flatter. I think you're right, probably just trying to make an extra sale so they recommend the extras. If the seat is suitable from birth, I'd happily use it from birth! My pushchair is lie-flat too actually, it came with a newborn liner (purchased secondhand) that goes on top with the seat, but isn't really needed as it doesn't make it any flatter or anything.

Anyone know where I can buy a Joie Tourist Stroller?

Hi @Clarabut it's a John Lewis exclusive.

Hi @lau2108 , did you buy the Joie Tourist? Your question mirrored my exact experience in JL just last week!

I love small, light, slim pushchairs and it looks amazing. Sadly this wasn't out a few years back when I was looking. John Lewis were also a bit sniffy with me when I told them I wasn't going for an expensive Bugaboo or iCandy proper pram. I went for a stroller that converts to parent-facing with a newborn cocoon and I do find that option great from 0-6months, so I probably would buy a carrycot attachment if it's not too expensive. Another option if seat is suitable from birth is to use pushchair and have a decent sling if you want to have baby closer. Might check this pushchair out next time I'm in John Lewis.

Smile

Thanks @lau2108 , that was helpful!

Moscow metro to be more tourist-friendly

A new floor sign system at the Moscow metro's Pushkinskaya station. Source: Vladimir Pesnya / RIA Novosti

For many years now, Moscow has lagged behind St. Petersburg when it comes to making life easy for tourists, especially where getting around the city is concerned. Whereas the northern capital installed English-language maps, signs and information points throughout its subway system in the late 2000s, the Russian capital’s metro remained a serious challenge for foreign visitors to navigate.

Recent visitors to Moscow may have noticed some signs that change is afoot, however. In many stations of the Moscow subway, signs have appeared on the floor – with large lettering in Russian and English – indicating the direction to follow in order to change lines. Previously, foreign visitors using the Moscow metro had to rely solely upon deciphering the Russian-language signs hanging from the ceilings.

Student volunteers help tourists find their way in Moscow

However, this new solution has a significant drawback. “The floor navigation is visible only to a small stream of people – fewer than three people per meter. During peak hours, this navigation will simply not be noticed,” said Konstantin Trofimenko, Director of the Center for Urban Transportation Studies.

One of the biggest problems for tourists in the Russian capital remains the absence of English translations of the names of subway stations in the station vestibules and on platforms. The Department of Transportation in Moscow has not commented yet as to when this problem will be solved. However, Latin transliterations of station names can already be found in the subway cars themselves.

Finding the right exit

At four of the central stations – Okhotny Ryad, Teatralnaya, Ploshchad Revolyutsii, Lubyanka and Kuznetsky Most – the city authorities have now installed colorful stands at the exits with schematic diagrams of the station’s concourse and surrounding area, which provide information about the main attractions and infrastructural facilities.

The schematic diagrams are the work of British specialists from the City ID and Billings Jackson Design firms, who have already implemented successful projects in New York and London.

According to Alexei Novichkov, expert at the Design Laboratory at the Higher School of Economics, the design of these information booths raises no objections: The color solutions, font, layout and icons are consistent with international standards.

Kudankulam

However, the stands do have some shortcomings. “Many questions are raised about the fact that the developers of these maps did not apply orientation to the north, and have provided layouts of the surrounding areas with respect to the exits,” says Novichkov. “A system like that is used for road navigators, but most of the ‘paper’ guides and maps are oriented strictly to north. The subway map is also oriented to north, so people may become confused.”

Muscovites and foreign visitors are generally positive about these navigation elements, with most of them citing the numbered exits from the subway as the most useful feature.

The fact is that many Moscow subway stations have several exits. One of the busiest central stations of the Moscow subway in particular, Kitay-Gorod, has more than a dozen exits. Previously, these exits were differentiated from each other only with signs in Russian referring to the names of streets and places of interest to which they led – making it easy for tourists and those with poor navigation skills to get confused.

Now, when making an appointment to meet a friend, instead of struggling to find the right spot when they tell you: “I'll meet you at the exit to Solyanka Street,” you can just propose to meet under a specific exit number.

“I’ve lived in Moscow for seven years,” says Angelika, a designer from Voronezh, “but I still don’t always know where to go to find the place I need, so the new schematic diagrams will be very useful. Previously, some subway stations had maps, but not with so much detail.”

Teething problems

Foreigners, meanwhile, focus their attention on other elements. “It is good that the new information boards have QR-codes, which can be ‘read’ by smartphones,” says Florentina, a writer from Vienna. But there are also shortcomings. “The English font of the information on posters and in the captions to theaters and museums is too small – you have to come very close to see it well,” she says.

Pleasant encounters on the streets of Moscow

Florentina was also dissatisfied with the fact that such posters are not provided at all subway stations: “When I was trying to find Tsaritsyno Park (a museum and reserve in the south of Moscow) at a subway station with the same name, it turned out to be quite difficult,” she says.

“There are no maps with landmarks for other areas, such as those already in the city center. There were no clear pointers in the English language, and the passers-by I met did not speak in English, so they could not help me,” she adds.

Officials say that the navigation system is gradually being redeveloped and improved. According to Darya Chuvasheva, a press representative for the Department of Transport of Moscow, the introduction of a unified navigation system will take place in stages.

“By the end of 2014, the system will first appear on the first subway stations on the Circle Line. By the end of 2015, we plan to install the system at all major stopping points, subway stations and transport interchange hubs,” says Chuvasheva.

Sights of Elektrostal, Moscow region

2024 Author : Harold Hamphrey | [email protected] . Last modified: 2023-12-17 10:06

In the Moscow region there is a small cozy town Elektrostal. Its sights for the most part have no historical value due to the fact that the city has a relatively small history. But for a visiting tourist or city dweller, they will be of interest. There is something to see, where to go to have an exciting leisure time.

Today the population of the city is 158 thousand people. Until the beginning of the 20th century there were several small workers' settlements here. After the opening of the electrometallurgical and equipment factories, the place began to be called the natural boundary of Calm. The construction of the railway made this settlement accessible, and workers and families flocked here to earn money. In 1925, the station was named Elektrostal, and the rapid increase in population allowed the village to receive the status of a city.

attractions elektrostal photo

The founder of the city is a prominent Russian industrialist Nikolai Vtorov. It was he who opened the plant here, creating, in fact, a city-forming enterprise that is still operating. In Soviet times, it was a closed facility, and it was not easy to get to work here.

Today Elektrostal is a promising industrial city with a great future and a heroic past. It bears the proud name "City of Military and Labor Glory".

You can learn about the sights of Elektrostal with descriptions and photos here. There are places for walking, outdoor activities and cultural development.

sights of the electric steel of the Moscow region

Those who come to the city by train are met by a monument to the metallurgist. It was installed in November 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the Elektrostal plant. The attraction is made in the style of constructivism. The monument quickly won the love of the townspeople, because this city is supported by ordinary workers.

Elektrostal attractions photo with description

Elektrost altsy and the founding father of the plant, Nikolai Vtorov, are honored. In 2002, a monument was opened in honor of him, which became a landmark of the city of Elektrostal. The bronze sculpture is installed on the site where once stood a monument to the leader of the world proletariat, V. I. Lenin. Times change, characters change. Today, the plant, founded a century ago, is the largest in Russia. Vtorov himself, whose fortune was estimated at 60 million rubles in gold, according to Forbes magazine, was the owner of the largest capital at the beginning of the century. He was a banker, an industrialist, an entrepreneur, a man of action.

The monument was erected byinitiative of the townspeople who wished to perpetuate the monument to the great man.

One of the popular places for spending weekends and evenings among citizens and guests of the city is the Park of Culture and Leisure. Here you can ride attractions for children and adults, play slot machines, rollerblade or bike. The park is divided into two zones. Fans of unhurried walks in the fresh air make a promenade on the Quiet Alley, and those who prefer outdoor activities flock to the Entertainment Alley. The park has a summer stage, where concerts and cafes are regularly held.

Elektrostal attractions

Until 1999, there was no central museum among the attractions of Elektrostal in the Moscow Region. The expositions were exhibited in schools, the house of culture, in factory museums. The city was closed, so there was no large influx of tourists and visitors. The appearance of the historical and art museum made it possible for residents and guests of the city to learn a lot of useful information about their native land, the formation of the production process, and the difficult years of the war. The exposition consists of paintings by local artists, historical artifacts, household items, documents, books and much more. The collection is updated regularly. It also hosts outdoor exhibitions, which are always popular with the townspeople.

One of the main attractions of Elektrostal, the photo of which is available to almost every resident or visitor, is the Main Alley. On herpassers-by like to stroll along shady paths, townspeople rest by the fountain after a hard shift at the plant. Flower beds are the decoration of the alley. In 2006, a flower festival was held here for the first time, which has become traditional. Each enterprise of the city and private individuals give residents a real composition of fresh flowers, which pleases with bright colors all summer long. A riot of colors, aromas and a flight of fantasy reigns here. Walking through the park, you can see Snow White with a basket, a bright well, a multi-tiered cake made from fresh flowers, hearts of lovers or a fabulous house. It is almost impossible not to take a photo against the background of these compositions.

There is a cultural center in the city. It hosts performances by local creative teams and visiting stars, performances and circus performances.

In 1971, the ice palace "Crystal" was opened in the city. Almost immediately, a children's and youth hockey team was organized, which gained sports fame. This is the home sports arena for the Elektrostal hockey team. Matches of different levels are held on the ice.

There are sections for children who go in for hockey or figure skating. Citizens come here with their families to cheer for their favorite team or go ice skating.

Elektrostal is a city with a heroic past. During the war years, more than 12 thousand citizens came to the recruiting station and went to the front to defend their homeland. Almost 4 thousand of them did not return from the battle. To these heroesdedicated to the memorial complex with the inextinguishable Eternal Flame, opened in 1968

But the electricians took part in the war in Afghanistan and Chechnya. By decision of the city authorities, their memory is also immortalized in the memorial complex.

It has become a good tradition for newlyweds to lay flowers at this monument.

attractions of the city of Elektrostal

In 1999, a museum and exhibition complex was opened in the city, where, in addition to the exhibition hall, there are numerous circles for children, classes for young people, and a creative workshop. Various festivals, exhibitions, city holidays and other events are held within the walls and on the territory of the complex, which attract many spectators.

Elektrostal attractions

Listing the sights of Elektrostal, it is impossible not to mention the temples. There are several of them in the city: the church of St. John of Kronstadt, St. Andrew's Church, the hospital church of St. Panteleimon. Another new church is being built. In appearance, the temples look ancient, monumental, in the Novgorod style. But they were all built at the end of the 20th century.

Let there be no ancient artifacts among the sights of Elektrostal. But on the other hand, all of them are connected with the history of the city, with everyday work and military exploits of ordinary residents.
