Dodgers Announce New ‘Take The Field Tour’ Beginning In June

T his season, the Los Angeles Dodgers introduced a whole new way to experience Dodger Stadium with their Take The Field Tours. It combines the traditional stadium tour experience with field access that has never been offered to the public in the stadium’s 62 year history.

The offerings in a stadium tour includes a trip down to the field at Dodger Stadium, a walk through the Vin Scully Press Box, and ability to get up close and personal with the team’s World Series trophies, Most Valuable Player (MVP), Silver Slugger, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year awards.

What the Take The Field Tours add to this package is the ability to actually step foot onto the Dodger Stadium field and take part in a variety of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. Participants will have the chance to play catch and mini-games in the Dodger Stadium outfield, and can even throw pitches off the mound in the Dodgers bullpen.

In total, the Take The Field Tour experience lasts approximately 2-3 hours and participants must sign a waiver and release in order to participate. All gear, except for baseball gloves, is provided by the Dodgers and no cleats, bats, or balls will be allowed in upon entry.

The event is scheduled for June 8 and tickets are priced at $175.

Dodgers other tour options

The Dodgers have a plethora of tour options for those who aren’t available or aren’t interested in the Take The Field Tour.

There are pregame tours, private/group tours, clubhouse tours, Fernandomania tours, Hands-On History tours, Jackie Robinson tours, garden tours, and VIP tours. Each tour has their unique offering that the others do not, with various price points depending on what is on offer.

The standard stadium tour comes with a $30 price tag for adults and is the most affordable option with the most available dates. The Fernandomania and Jackie Robinson tours are the most affordable options with a $25 price tag, but have a limited amount of dates.

Judge orders immediate closure of UCLA’s baseball stadium

An order from a federal judge to lockdown UCLA’s Jackie Robinson Stadium is set to go into effect at noon Thursday.

The stadium and other plots of land located on V.A. property in West Los Angeles have been ordered to close until a deal is reached to use them in a way that benefits military veterans, for which they were originally intended.

An ongoing court case about what will happen to the land and the school’s leases will also take place on Thursday.

The court ruled on Friday that several interest leases on the V.A.’s property, including where the baseball stadium stands, are illegal.

U.S. District Judge David O. Carter, a Vietnam Veteran, expressed frustration over UCLA and other past leaseholders for failing to provide an acceptable use for the land.

Judge Carter has also hinted that he may order the demolition of the nearby private Brentwood School’s athletic center on the V.A.’s grounds and threatened to fill its swimming pool with sand unless the school finds a way to allow veterans access.

In Carter’s initial ruling earlier this month, he accused the V.A. of turning its back on veterans by illegally leasing parts of the campus to private interests, including UCLA’s baseball team and an oil company, and terminated the leases.

The V.A. has been ordered to construct 750 units of temporary housing within 18 months and develop a plan for an additional 1,800 permanent units within six months.

Meta rethinks smart glasses with Orion

Meta Connect 2024 was this week, showcasing new hardware and software to support two of the company's big ambitions: AI and the metaverse. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced new Quest headsets, updates to Meta’s Llama AI model, and real-time video capabilities of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The biggest reveal, though, was Orion, a true AR glasses prototype touted as “the most advanced glasses the world has ever seen.” OpenAI CTO Mira Murati announced this week that she is leaving the company after more than six years.

This Day In Dodgers History: Details For Jackie Robinson Statue Unveiled

Yoshinobu Yamamoto

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Rumors: Dodgers Picked Over Mets & Yankees

While regarded in the hierarchy of baseball immortality, this day in 2015 saw the Los Angeles Dodgers unveil details of a Jackie Robinson statue that would be installed at Dodger Stadium during the 2017 season.

In addition to countless other in-stadium ventures involving the famed Brooklyn Dodgers hero, the plan centered around the confirmation to commission a statue of Robinson to be built by former Brooklyn resident Branly Cadet.

The statue, which depicts Robinson’s iconic slide while stealing home plate , was the first sculpture of any kind to appear in Chavez Ravine.

It was unveiled in 2017 on the 70th anniversary of him breaking Major League baseball’s color barrier.

Regarded now as a staple piece within Dodger Stadium, manager Dave Roberts has made it a team-wide tradition to visit the statue every year on Jackie Robinson Day.

Especially for Roberts, the first Black manager in Los Angeles’ franchise history, he has understood the importance of stepping-back and appreciating Robinson’s legacy.

“I think it’s not something that I signed up to have a platform to speak about things outside of baseball, but I think as all things evolve, I’ve just seen more and more that people who have platforms aren’t speaking about the right things and there’s way too much negativity and speaking about the wrong things,” Roberts said in 2022.

Sandy Koufax’s statue joins Jackie Robinson

Installed and unveiled this past season, Dodgers Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax received a statue of his own which sits next to Robinson’s . According to Koufax, it is one of his life’s “greatest honors.”

Pitching for the organization in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, Koufax’s career totaled an improbable 137 complete games in 314 total starts. In addition to a lifetime 2.76 ERA, he was a part of three World Series teams.

Now, between his and Robinson’s statues, Dodgers fans are forever be greeted into Chavez Ravine by reminders of their baseball and life accomplishments.
