ucla football visits

UCLA (6-4, 4-3) at USC (4-5, 3-4)

When : Saturday, Nov. 20, 1 p.m.

Where : L.A. Memorial Coliseum

Watch/listen : FOX / AM 570 (UCLA) or AM 790 (USC)

UCLA update : Running back Zach Charbonnet had his second three-touchdown performance of the season to lead UCLA to a Pac-12 South division victory over Colorado at the Rose Bowl. … Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson returned from a hand injury to lead the team in rushing to help the Bruins become bowl eligible. … Chip Kelly is 1-2 against USC as UCLA’s head coach and would benefit from a win on Saturday to help minimize the “hot seat” chatter.

USC update : The Trojans are coming off an unexpected bye after Saturday’s game at Cal was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Bears’ program. USC was able to change up its practice plan last week and use it as extra time to prepare for this weekend’s rivalry game against UCLA. … The big question for USC, as it has been the past few weeks, is how the quarterback situation plays out. Third-year starter Kedon Slovis, who led a wild comeback to beat the Bruins last season, injured his left leg two Saturdays ago against Arizona State and did not practice last week. If he can’t play, true freshman Jaxson Dart would become the starter after splitting time with Slovis the last two games.

Arizona high school football 2025 commitments: Queen Creek TE Dylan Sims picks UCLA

This is a list of Arizona high school football 2025 prospects who have committed to college. Keep coming back for updates.

Queen Creek TE chooses UCLA

June 3, 2024

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Queen Creek tight end Dylan Sims, rated the 11th top overall prospect in the state in the 2025 class by The Arizona Republic, announced on social media that he has committed to UCLA.

Sims, 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, had more than a dozen major college offers. He also is a very good defensive end, but says he will play tight end with the Bruins.

"As soon as I got to UCLA, I immediately felt like I was with my family," Sims said. "The culture and the people there are exactly who I want to be around. The overall passion for football and success is so strong there.

"I was always motivated. It felt like home and a place I can grind day after day."

Queen Creek coach Travis Schureman said UCLA will be getting a player who is always working hard to get better.

"UCLA is lucky to be getting a young man of such high quality," Schureman said.

Top 2025 recruit commits on visit

June 1, 2024

Phoenix Brophy Prep offensive lineman Logan Powell, The Arizona Republic 's No. 1-rated in-state recruit in the 2025 class, gave Wisconsin a commitment Saturday during his official visit to Madison.

Powell, 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, who played the second half of his junior season last year at Brophy after transferring from Saguaro at the end of his sophomore year, was a high recruiting priority for most major colleges in the country.

By the time the spring rolled around, he had offers from Michigan, TCU, Arizona State, Wisconsin, Oregon, Boston College, Purdue, Michigan State, Oregon State, Arizona, Tennessee, USC, Nebraska, Washington, Kansas State, Utah, Florida State, Illinois, Washington State, Baylor, Texas AM, Minnesota, and Alabama.

"So happy for Logan," Brophy coach Jason Jewell, a former Division I college offensive lineman, said. "He really took his time and visited a ton of school in the last year. Recruiting got stressful and overwhelming at times for him. But overall I think he handled it well."

Jewell said that Logan had nearly 30 Division I college football scholarship offers.

"A lot of schools felt like Logan would be a guard in college, and that may end up being the case," Jewell said. "But Wisconsin thinks he can play tackle, and I know Logan really liked that.

"Logan is a physical, tough football player and I think it fits in that stereotype of what people think of when they envision offensive linemen from Wisconsin."

Dajon Hinton staying home

April 28, 2024

Dajon Hinton, who transferred from Scottsdale Saguaro to Chandler Hamilton at the end of the school year, announced on social media Sunday that he has chosen to play his college football at Arizona State.

"They believe in me, the coaches, and I mean the whole staff knows me," Hinton said. "And every time I visit they show nothing but love.

"Coach (Jason) Mohns, my former HC, and coach Dilly (ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham) believe in me. I’m coming off an injury and I’m feeling 101% and locked in a school I trust."

His former high school coach Jason Mohns is an assistant coach at ASU. He was Saguaro's head coach in 2022, when Hinton was a sophomore.

Hinton, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, spend the 2023 season mostly injured, but is expected to make a big comeback his senior season on both sides of the ball.

He projects as a college cornerback but he is just as capable of impacting at wide receiver.

He is ranked 16th in The Arizona Republic's Big 150 2025 recruiting class.

Desert Edge CB picks Texas A&M

Goodyear Desert Edge cornerback Jamar Goines-Beal, one of the fastest football players in the state, announced on social media Sunday that he has committed to playing football at Texas A&M.

Goines-Beal, 6-foot, 175 pounds, is one of the top sprinters in Arizona this track and field season. He has run 100 meters in 10.43 seconds. That is the second-fastest time in the state this track season. He has a laser 40 time of 4.29 seconds.

Beal-Goines helped Desert Edge reach the 5A final last season when he had 24 tackles, two interceptions and eight passes defended.

He's had close to 20 major college offers, including Arizona and Arizona State, California, Kansas, Iowa State, Michigan State, Boston College, Kansas State and Missouri.

"When I went on my visit, it felt right for me," Goines-Beal said about Texas A&M. "And I have a great relationship with the coaching staff."

Brophy center commits to Kansas

Brophy Prep center Anderson Kopp has committed to Kansas, where his father Kevin played football.

Kopp announced his commitment on social media Tuesday.

He leads what could be the best offensive line in the state next season at Brophy.

"Anderson is one of the best leaders and hardest workers we have," said Brophy coach Jason Jewell, a former New Mexico State offensive lineman. "I'm thrilled for him and his commitment to KU.

"He has developed into one of the best centers in the state, or I think the best center in the state. And it's something he had to work at, because he transitioned from playing tackle. He embraced the need and has been awesome."

Kopp has been going to KU games since he was a kid with his father a football alum.

"This is a dream come true for him," Jewell said.

Kopp, who is 6-foot-3, 280 pounds, is the latest in what has become a trend of Arizona high school football players going to Kansas.

Desert Edge had three players out of its 2024 class sign with the Jayhawks: edge rusher Deshawn Warner, cornerback Aundre Gibson and linebacker Jonathan Kamara. Scottsdale Horizon 2024 offensive lineman Carter Lavrusky also signed with Kansas.

"Those guys are just so genuine, Carter, D.J. (Warner), Jon, they've all reached out to me numerous times about how Kansas is home," Kopp said. "It just felt like home, not only because my dad played there. KU felt like home."

Top safety stays home, commits to ASU

Phoenix Mountain Pointe safety Rylon Dillard-Allen announced on social media Monday his commitment to play at Arizona State.

"Rylon is his own person," Mountain Pointe coach Eric Lauer said in a text message. "He wants to create his own path.

"It's not been a big fashion move to stay home in state. This is something he is choosing to do. Our community in and around Mountain Pointe are so excited for him. We think this is a great move. We support him 100%."

Dillard-Allen was a big impact player for the Pride the second half of last season, after becoming eligible. He had to sit out the first five games last season after transferring from Phoenix Desert Vista.

Dillard-Allen, 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, is rated the No. 4 recruit in the state in The Arizona Republic's Big 150 2025 prospects.

Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Oregon, San Diego State, Washington, Texas A&M, Cal, and Nevada were among his suitors.

He's a physical safety who likes to hit and create turnovers. He also played receiver for the Pride.

Top wide receiver commits to Oregon

April 10, 2024

Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep junior wide receiver Cooper Perry announced his intentions to play college football at Oregon on Wednesday at the school's courtyard.

Perry, rated by The Arizona Republic as the No. 3 prospect in the Big 150 2026 football recruiting class , said that he will enroll early at Oregon and get there in time for 2025 spring football with the Ducks.

Perry had Arizona State high on his recruiting list but after receivers coach Ra'Shaad Samples left ASU in Tempe to be Oregon's running backs coach , that helped influence Perry's ultimate decision.

"Coach Samples is my guy," Perry said to reporters. "Him being there, I know I'm going to be a better person."

Perry, who is 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, said he felt this was the right moment, so he could focus on his senior season.

"It's my senior season and that goal to win the state championship with my boys in that last ride," Perry said.

Perry said he is hoping to make an impact at Oregon in the 2025 season.

"I'm going to work for it," he said. "At Oregon is a place where you're going to develop. Whether that's in year one, year two or year three, I'm going to go in and work for it. It's not something given to you. You have to work for it."

Perry has 159 career catches for 2,441 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Last season, he caught 72 passes for 1,190 yards and 19 TDs, after catching 78 passes for 1,100 yards and 20 TDS his sophomore season.

"I think it felt like home," Notre Dame Prep coach George Prelock said. "In his last visit, he really made a strong connection with the coaching staff there. They've been a perennial powerhouse year in and year out. Now in the Big Ten, he knows he's going to face some serious competition. He felt like that was the best place of getting to his dream and to the next level and provide a great education for him."

Mahan will join a large class of visitors in Duke’s second full weekend of the summer. A pair of three-star wide receiver prospects, Nasir Newkirk from North Carolina and Gerritt Kemp from Georgia , already revealed they’d join Mahan in Durham this weekend.

Diaz hopes to keep up his good form from last week when he snagged commitments from Texas linebacker Elliott Schaper and Georgia running back Javin Gordon .

We’ll continue to monitor if Mahan can convince any fellow visitors to become future teammates.

UCLA Football: Former 5-Star Running Back Visiting Bruins

Matt levine | may 23, 2024.

  • UCLA Bruins

Former LSU Tigers running back John Emery visited UCLA recently to see if the team would be a good landing spot for him. He entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago and may be settling on the Bruins for his next team.

💙💙UCLA💙💙 pic.twitter.com/S2E7i1kj33 — John Emery (@bigjohnEm4655) May 22, 2024

Emery has spent his entire college career with the Tigers but wanted some change. Last season, he rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown in seven games. He only received 23 rushing attempts last year which contributed to his low numbers.

He tore his ACL late in the season and is looking forward to a continued career after recovering. He has one year of eligibility left in college and it seems that he wants to continue playing at the collegiate level. Emery likely wants to boost his potential for the NFL and he could do just that with a strong final season.

If he were to officially land with the Bruins, he would likely be given a much bigger role. He is a former five-star running back so UCLA could net themselves a potential steal here.

Ucf commit 4-star athlete tony williams locks in official visit with fsu, share this article.

Four-star athlete Tony Williams received a scholarship offer from FSU back in June of 2023 when he attended a summer camp. He took an unofficial visit to see the Seminoles play the LSU Tigers last season, and he was also on campus in March for their Legacy Weekend event.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder will make his return to Tallahassee this weekend as he has set an official visit with FSU from June 7-9. He’ll join four-star edge Zion Grady , four-star linebacker commit Ethan Pritchard , four-star running back Ousmane Kromah , and more.

The Palm Beach Central High School star is the No. 477 overall recruit, the No. 26 athlete, and the No. 66 prospect out of Florida per the 247Sports composite rankings.

Williams has 26 offers, which include other top programs like the Penn State Nittany Lions and USC Trojans . The West Palm Beach, Florida product committed to UCF back in March, so the Seminoles certainly have some work to do to flip him.
