It has dense forest and an array of wildlife, although tiger sightings aren't as common as some other places in India. The park can be explored by jeep or elephant safaris, which take place daily in the early mornings and afternoons. The Dhikala zone of the park is the most panoramic, with stunning valley views. It offers the best chance of animal sightings (which are unfortunately sometimes disappointing). If you're lucky, you might spot wild elephants.

The hill settlement of Nainital, in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, was a popular summer retreat for the British during the time they ruled India. It features emerald colored Nainital (Naini) Lake and an action-filled strip called The Mall, lined with restaurants, shops, hotels, and markets. Enjoy one of the many forest walks, explore the surrounding area on horseback, or relax on a boat in the lake. This destination gets very crowded during summers, especially on weekends, due to its proximity to Delhi. Around Nainital, you'll find Jeolikote, Bhimtal, Ramgarh and Mukteshwar which are all less developed and quieter places to stay.

Valley of Flowers National Park

The remarkable landscape of The Valley of Flowers National Park in the Garhwal region comes alive with the monsoon rain. This high-altitude Himalayan valley has around 300 different varieties of alpine flowers, which appear as a bright carpet of color against a mountainous snow-capped background. It's a popular trekking destination, open from the start of June until the end of October.

  • Location: About 15 hours drive northeast of Delhi, plus a trek.

Located high up in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, the Char Dham (four temples) mark the spiritual source of four holy rivers: the Yamuna (at Yamunotri), the Ganges (at Gangotri), the Mandakini (at Kedarnath), and the Alaknanda (at Badrinath ). Hindus consider a pilgrimage to the Char Dham to be very auspicious. Not only is it believed to wash away all sins, but it will also ensure release from the cycle of birth and death.

Uttarakhand even has a skiing destination! Auli lies on the way to Badrinath and has a three-kilometer long slope, gondola, chairlift, and Poma ski lift. For skiing, conditions are best from the last week of January to the first week of March. However, it's dependent on good snowfall, which is variable. If you're into trekking, the Kuari Pass trailhead is at Auli. This trek, which passes through Nanda Devi National Park, is one of the state's best and most accessible. Thrillophilia offers six-day guided trips from Haridwar . There are many other hiking trails around too.

Accommodation options in Auli are scarce but Devi Darshan Lodge is recommended if you don't stay at the popular government-run Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Hotel (which offers ski programs). Alternatively, the Himalayan Abode Homestay near Joshimath is excellent, and the host is a skiing and snowboarding champion and coach. Another good option is Himalayan Eco Lodge .

Magical Munsiyari, a small town surrounded by towering mountains in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, is paradise for mountaineers and trekkers. Blazing sunsets create a stunning backdrop of color-stained peaks there. However, the hiking and trekking routes are the biggest draws. Munsiyari is the base for the challenging nine-day Milam Glacier Trek , and the much easier two- to three-hour trek to Khalia Top is another attraction. The Tribal Heritage Museum, filled with artifacts from Munsiyari's trade with Tibet on the ancient salt route, is also worth seeing. Milam Inn , albeit basic, is the best place to stay in Munsiyari and it offers fabulous mountain views from the guest rooms.

Not to be confused with the Chopta Valley in Sikkim, Chopta lies between Kedarnath and Badrinath in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, at the entry to Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. It attracts travelers who want to enjoy the great outdoors away from the crowds and development. Chopta is the starting point for treks to Tungnath temple (open from June to September) and Chandrashila summit. It's a short, yet scenic, moderate trek that can be completed in a day. Notably, the temple is the world's highest Shiva temple. Thrillophilia offers four-day guided trips from Haridwar.

  • Location: About 10 hours drive northeast of Delhi, via Rishikesh.

It's likely that you've never heard of Kalap, a tiny remote village that's only accessible by foot, 7,500 feet above sea level in the upper Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. That's because it's totally off the tourist map. A responsible tourism project was established there in 2013 to help improve the livelihoods of the villagers. Kalap is an outstanding place to get away from it all and experience the simplicity of village life or go trekking along trails followed by nomadic shepherds.

  • Location: About six hours north of Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

We are spent 6 day's trip in Rishikesh and Haridwar, a beautiful place to visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. India Yoga and Mediation Tour in Himalayas - 10 Days

My trip was very nice with a lot of amazing experiences. With Amazing India Tours I always had a contact person, which replies fast and reliable. So at the beginning it was very relaxing for me to have everything organized while I was busy processing all the new informations and stimuli. After a while when you got used to the country, it was not the money worth it anymore. For example I should have paid 50€ for a train ticket, but in reality it was 7-8€ max. They gave untypical recommendations for tips too. They also weren't as understanding in my change of the plans because I got sick during the time. All in all the program was fantastic, the driver and guides very friendly. So all in all good!

Beautiful tour with so many nature spots and beautiful landscape to admire. We had a mild trekking and a fantastic guide who took us to the waterfall and up to the hills where we were able to admire picturesque places and take some pictures. Taj Mahal also made a huge impression on us since it is a real wonder of the world! Paylesstours organization was really good and all the accommodation was up to the mark. Our driver Sammu was really careful and caring. We felt pampered and really safe with this tour operator and all the team members who accompanied us to the monuments.

After long time in India will visit 6 days tour of Jim Corbett with Nainital and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the thrilling safari rides to the serene boat rides, this tour had it all. I must say, it was the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. The tour started with a scenic drive from Delhi to Jim Corbett, and as we entered the Jim Corbett National Park, the excitement was palpable. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife, making the safari ride even more thrilling. We were lucky enough to spot various animals including tigers, elephants, and deer. The natural beauty of the park was breathtaking and it was a once in a lifetime experience to see these animals in their natural habitat. After the safari, we headed to our resort in Nainital, a picturesque hill station nestled in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The view from our resort was mesmerizing, with the Naini Lake on one side and the majestic Himalayas on the other. The next few days were filled with exploring the town, shopping for souvenirs, and taking a boat ride on the Naini Lake. The peaceful surroundings and the cool breeze were a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of city life. One of the highlights of the tour was the visit to the Corbett Waterfall. The 20-meter high waterfall was a sight to behold and the surrounding lush greenery added to its charm. We also visited the Garjiya Devi Temple, a popular Hindu pilgrimage site, and the Corbett Museum, which gave us a glimpse into the life of Jim Corbett, the famous hunter turned conservationist. The tour also included a visit to the Corbett Falls Resort, where we got to experience the unique stay in luxury tents. The resort was situated in the middle of the forest, and waking up to the sounds of birds and the fresh mountain air was an experience in itself. The last day of the tour was spent in leisure, enjoying the amenities of our resort and reflecting on the amazing experiences we had over the past few days. The tour ended with a drive back to Delhi, with memories that will last a lifetime. Overall, the 6 days tour of Jim Corbett with Nainital was a perfect blend of adventure, nature, and relaxation. The all-inclusive package made the trip hassle-free and the well-planned itinerary ensured that we made the most of our time there. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in the lap of nature.

  • This 3 Days In Uttarakhand In December Trip Is Everything Every Couple Wishes For!

23 Mar 2023

As Ruskin Bond says “Live close to nature and your spirit will not be easily broken, for you learn something of patience and resilience. You will not grow restless, and you will never feel lonely.” and we like to believe it, because it inspires us to be close to ‘nature’ which is somewhere lost when you live in the bustling cities and only happens in the countryside and when you lose yourself in the hills, that you feel more solitudinal and less lonely and there is some kind of magic in places like these that they help families connect and offer harmony! And that is exactly what Ganeshan and his family wanted. While they spent 3 days in Uttarakhand in December they felt blessed and unbeknownst to them set out major travel goals. Read about their fascinating experiences here.
