Sept. 14 — Whitechapel debuted the video for the latest and last single from its 2021 album, Kin this week.
The band premiered the video for its two-part single, ‘ Without You/Without Us ‘ Wednesday. According to front man Phil Bozeman the song and video are the last from the album. It came more than five months after the band debuted its then latest single, ‘ I Will Find You .’
‘Without You/Without Us’ is a continuation and closure from ‘I Will Find You’ in regard to its story. Bozeman explained in a prepared statement when that single and video premiered, “I am being followed by my alternate reality/evil self. “It’s the part of me that can’t let go and will go to any heights to find the real me and pull me back into the dark past that I want to move on from.”
In the case of ‘Without You/Without Us’ Bozeman takes on that evil self and ultimately defeats it, overcoming those negative thoughts and feelings. The juxtaposition of the Tool-esque verses and the much heavier choruses in the song’s arrangement makes the simple video presentation so much more powerful, proving that less truly can be more.
‘Without You/Without Us’ is the fifth single from Kin . Along with the aforementioned ‘I Will Find You’ the album has also produced the singles, ‘ Anticure ,’ ‘ A Bloodsoaked Symphony ,‘ and ‘ Lost Boy .’
In other news, Whitechapel has announces an extensive series of tour dates that will take the group through the year’s end. The tour includes a performance next week at the annual Louder Than Life Festival, a run with Meshuggah and In Flames in November and December, a separate run with Thy Art Is Murder, Fit For An Autopsy, Spite and Godlike later this month and October, and a holiday show Dec. 22 in Knoxville, TN.

At this stage in the game, the name Whitechapel commands respect. Already sitting on one of the most enviable catalogs in contemporary metal, in 2019 they dropped The Valley , showcasing a confident evolution in their sound and standing as a true landmark release that sets a new standard for the genre. “ To me, it was like the stars aligning for us to create our almost perfect record in regard to songwriting, vocal performance, the mix and master, and the artwork ,” says guitarist Alex Wade. “ We like to look at our albums as chapters of our career, and that is one chapter I will never forget. I think it really solidified that we can embrace a new sound, and if we execute it properly, then the fanbase is going to support and enjoy it .” In 2021, they return with that album’s successor, the mighty Kin , which is an even more dynamic and diverse collection, further advancing the band’s sound into new territory without losing sight of what brought them to this point.
“ I feel with every album, we learn what worked best on the last one and try to utilize that in our writing. Early in the writing, there was some discussion of the album being like ‘The Valley’ part II, not literally called that, but in how the songs sound and flow through it. It’s very much a storytelling type record like ‘The Valley’ was ,” adds vocalist Phil Bozeman, “ Musically, we just want to create what we vibe with at the given moment. We write music with how we feel and not what is expected of us, while lyrically the idea of continuing from the story of ‘The Valley’ was always the goal .”
“ For a generation of fans, WHITECHAPEL are the most legitimately brutal band of the deathcore movement. ” – Kerrang!
“ … one of the more unique metal bands still making music today .” – Metal Injection
“ Phil Bozeman… commanded the stage and seemed to tower over the audience as he walked across the monitors…The band’s ability to combine powerful music with fun and energetic stage presence made for an unforgettable night of metal music. ” – Pop Break
“ Their performance… was superb and felt so nostalgic. As a Knoxville native, I have been a WHITECHAPEL fan for longer than I can remember and to see these guys evolve over the last fifteen years has been incredible to witness. Their humble demeanor and professionalism shine on and off the stage .” – Keynote Music Collective

On May 13, 2023 Whitechapel finished out their Playing the Valley in Full tour at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tennessee. Support for this tour included Entheos , Archspire , and Signs of the Swarm . With Whitechapel being a Tennessee based band, music city was ready to represent one of our own, and the night was sure to be a great time.
Starting off the night strong was Entheos , formed in 2015 out of Santa Cruz, California this band immediately set the mood for what was in store. Female vocalist, Chaney Crabb , provided fans with a show they will not soon forget. As Crabb entered the stage, you immediately see her fun, bubbly personality come to light, but the screams and growls that she produced are out of this world. Although some fans had never heard of this new up and coming band, its safe to say they made several new ones that night. During their six song set they performed “Remember You Are Dust,” “Absolute Zero,” “In Purgatory,” and closed out the night with fan favorite “The Sinking Sun.” Entheos closed out their set with thanking the fans, and Whitechapel for allowing them to be there, before stepping off the stage for the final time of this tour.

Next up of the night was deathcore band Signs of the Swarm , these guys absolutely understood the assignment, and were there to put on a show. Formed in 2014, out of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, they have currently released four studio albums, the most recent in 2021. As you look around the venue, you could see fans in complete shock as vocalist David Simonich , demanded circle pits, moshing, and crowd surfing. Not only did multiple fans surf across the crowd that night, they also were jumping, clapping, and chanting nearly the entire set. This 5 piece band provided flawless breakdowns, ear piercing screams, and insane riffs, which is all we really need at a heavy metal concert, right? Although they only got to perform six songs including “Unbridled,” “Nameless” and “Death Whistle,” this band has only just begun, and we will absolutely see them in the near future.
Next up was death metal band Archspire . Located in Vancover, Canada this five piece band formed back in 2007. During their 8 song set, they not only performed their hearts out, they also decided to play a popular game. Mid song, vocalist Oli Peters , announced that he wanted the venue to split in half, suddenly he began saying “right hand red, left hand yellow.” Instantly someone threw a Twister mat on the ground, and fans began participating in the popular kids game, before the game could really get started, Peters stated ” On the count of three, I want a wall of death.” Archspire kept fans on their toes with what to expect next. Closing out with song “Drone Corpse Aviator” fans were beginning to get very anxious about the hometown favorite that was up next, Whitechapel.
Now the moment we have all been waiting for, Whitechapel . Formed in 2006 out of Knoxville, Tennessee this six piece band has produced 8 studio albums, with news of number 9 in the works. Not only did they play their previous album The Valley in its entirety during this tour, we also got a glimpse of a few others. Opening with “When a Demon Defiles a Witch,” fans immediately lost all control. Vocalist, Phil Bozeman , not only has a way with his bandmates, but also a way of really connecting with the crowd as he screams his heart out. This is the second time Whitechapel has visited music city in the last year, and from the way fans packed the venue wall to wall you would think they don’t come around very often. Not only do they clearly have a dedicated fan base, the showmanship and clear respect amongst band members is very humbling, and amazing to witness. Playing songs “Hickory Creek,” “The Saw is the Law,” and closing out with a three song encore that includes “Prostatic Fluid Asphyxiation,” “Possession,” and “This is Exile,” fans are now anxiously awaiting the release for their next album so we can witness this iconic band again soon. Although the tours final date was in Nashville, we expect to hear more from Whitechapel in the next few months click Here to stay in the loop!

Shadow of Intent sounded wonderful!
Aversions Crown did fine. I'm just not a fan.
Fleshgod Apocalypse was plagued by audio problems but they still rocked it.
Whitechapel is Whitechapel. Eff yeah.
The Black Dahlia Murder (my fav) brought so much energy to the stage as usual. They were funny, and kept the crowd thrashing. But they sounded...muted. The rhythm guitar drowned out Trevor's vocals. The lead guitar sounded far away. A total bass fest. I tried three other locations in the venue in case it was just acoustics but to no avail. I cried inside and left before they finished their set.

Great show.Great venue.my onky issue.
I wish whitechapel would played some newer songs. They played there whole 2nd album I believe.other wise great.
The standout for me was God Flesh Apoclaypse. Amazing show.
I absolutely love the hell outta this band! Saw them last year on October 12th in Webster NY. They were playing so damn hard that they shook the place and knocked out the power for a solid 10 minutes. I highly recommend seeing this band live. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

How Accurate was the TV Series, Whitechapel?
- The Jack The Ripper Tour
The mystery of Jack the Ripper has fascinated people for years on end and the hype is yet to die down. The first known serial killer local to Whitechapel, Jack the Ripper has dominated both the historical and the entertainment sphere. Audiences are gripped by the unknown, whilst writers thrive on the freedom of uncertainty.
In the Whitechapel TV series, Jack the Ripper is the subject of series one. We are exposed to another representation of the Ripper and his conquests; however, this time, there’s a copycat killer on the loose. Though Whitechapel is a piece of fiction, it actually encompasses many historically accurate details.
Despite the credibility of these references, how accurate is the series as a whole when it comes to representing the Jack the Ripper streets in Whitechapel?
Parrallels Between Whitechapel TV Series and History
All in all, the Whitechapel series ran for four series, with the first of these comprising of Whitechapel Jack the Ripper episodes. In the first episode, viewers are presented with an ominous figure, wearing a hat and coat, stalking the streets of London. From historical records, this seems to be the way in which the Ripper was perceived. Despite this, in the series the Ripper seems to be roaming around Tower Bridge which had not been fully erected by 1888. Following this, a flash-forward appears of the culprit from the series drowning in the Thames, much like Montague John Druitt, one of the Ripper suspects.
The main inspector of the series is named Detective Inspector Joseph Chandler. After the real-life death of Annie Chapman, the Ripper’s second victim, the first officer to reach the crime scene was Inspector Joseph Chandler.
The first victim of the series bears similarity to the story of the real-life Ripper’s final victim. Upon a character in the series discovering the new Ripper’s first casualty, the victim dies in her arms as the Ripper walks away. In reality, PC Ernest Thompson claimed to find the dying Frances Coles whilst her attacker’s footsteps disappeared into the night. In the series, this victim is described as a 43-year-old single mother, which is the identical description of the real-life Mary Ann “Polly” Nichols, who was tragically the first of the Ripper’s victims.
Not only is Polly’s profile practically identical to historical records, but the injuries in the series are described in the same way as the real-life event. It’s declared that Polly didn’t bleed an excessive amount, suggesting that the killer was experienced in cutting up carcasses. This led to the search for a butcher in historical London and the fictional series alike. Additionally, the surveillance of real-life victims is mirrored within the series.
Polly’s case doesn’t end there in both the series and the real-life event; in the mortuary, her skirt is lifted to reveal the mutilations. In the series, the suspect interview reveals that it’s 31 August 2008 which is precisely 120 years after the real murder of Polly Nichols. Finally, the character who discovers the dying body describes the fleeing figure as a man in his forties of average height and build with a dark complexion. He was said to be wearing a hat with ear flaps. Once again, this fits the historical descriptions of men associated with the Ripper victims ahead of their deaths.
Our Impact on the Whitechapel Series
Evidently, true historical events had a huge impact on the Whitechapel series, and our tours had a part to play in this. In order to learn the habits of Jack the Ripper and study the background of Whitechapel in 1888, the actor who played the new Ripper attended one of our tours.
We were able to walk him through the Victorian police investigation , endless theories regarding the Whitechapel murders and the Ripper’s identity , as well as the tragically affected victims . Our tour was the closest that he could possibly get to history itself.
Book in for One of Our Tours
Our tours begin from Exit 3 of Aldgate East station. From here, we’ll walk you through all the significant spots of Jack the Ripper’s London. We’ll take you to the scene of Emma Smith’s murder, the street in which Martha Tabram was killed, and the pub where Polly died. After this, we’ll show you the street of Annie Chapman’s murder, the square where Catherine Eddowes was killed, and the street in which Mary Kelly was murdered. In addition to this, we’ll visit the hotspots of 1888 Whitechapel, revealing clues about the Ripper’s identity. By the end of the tour, you’ll be in good stead to predict who the Ripper was for yourself.
If, like many, Jack the Ripper intrigues you, don’t hesitate to book in for one of our tours. Otherwise, be sure to contact us with any questions regarding the tour.

Moscow attack explainer: why would Islamic State attack Russia and what will Putin’s response be?
After IS claimed responsibility for shooting in Moscow’s Crocus city hall, questions remain about how Russia will respond
- Russia attack – latest updates
The attack on Moscow’s Crocus City concert hall is the deadliest attack claimed by the Islamic State (IS) on European soil, with 137 people confirmed to have been killed .
On Friday evening, attackers carrying assault rifles entered the concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, shooting for nearly an hour as panicked concertgoers scrambled to escape. Then the attackers set the venue on fire.
The death toll is slightly higher than the devastating Paris attacks of 2015 , which came at the height of the IS’s power.
Since Friday, events have moved quickly, with four suspects – identified as citizens of Tajikistan by a Russian news agency – appearing in court on Sunday, pleading guilty to being involved.
Questions remain, however: the shape that President Vladimir Putin’s response will take is unclear, while experts are seeking to explain the precise motive for the attack.
Why would IS attack Russia?
There are practical, historical and ideological reasons why IS would attack Russia.
IS leaders have long seen attacks against distant targets as an integral part of their extremist project. Such operations – when successful – terrorise their enemies but also mobilise existing supporters and attract new ones.
Often, targets are determined by what resources are available. Nine years ago, a cohort of French and Belgian recruits in Syria led to a wave of attacks in both countries. In the past 18 months, IS has made a concerted effort to recruit central Asian militants through its Afghan branch, known as Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP). Being Russian speaking, or even Russian nationals, these recruits can easily reach a target in Moscow, offering multiple new opportunities for attacks.
Russia has been in the cross-hairs of IS for many years. IS leaders, like many Islamic militants, are mindful of Russian support for the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. A key point made by IS propaganda from Pakistan to Nigeria is that Moscow is part of the broader coalition of Christian or western forces engaged in an existential, 1,400-year-old battle against Islam.
IS statements claiming responsibility for the attack boasted of “killing Christians”.
Leaders of ISKP may also see Russia as supportive of the continued rule of the Taliban, which has repressed them. They will also remember brutal Soviet military operations in Afghanistan in the 1980s and “the Jihad” waged by their fathers or grandfathers against Moscow’s forces. Russia’s bloody war in Chechnya in 1999 may be a factor too.
What will Russia’s response be?
Many terrorist attacks seek to provoke a powerful repressive response from authorities, with the aim of further escalating violence. If this was part of the IS plan for Moscow, they are unlikely to be disappointed.
Russian authorities’ interrogation of the suspects appears to have been particularly brutal.
Videos circulating of their interrogations suggest that the men were tortured; one of the videos appears to show members of the security forces cutting off the ear of a suspect and then stuffing it into his mouth.
In court, all of the suspects appeared heavily bruised with swollen faces. One of them was brought to court directly from hospital in a wheelchair. He was attended by medics and was seen with multiple cuts.
Putin has vowed to punish those behind the “barbaric terrorist attack” – and Muslim minorities in Russia are likely to face a wave of repression.
In the Russian ruler’s only public remarks on the massacre he made no reference to IS’s claims of responsibility.
Instead, despite IS claiming the attack and releasing footage to corroborate those claims, Russia has still sought to place some blame on Ukraine.
On Saturday, Putin claimed without evidence that the four arrested gunmen planned to flee to Ukraine. The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has said Putin and others close to him are seeking to divert the blame from Russian intelligence failings.
The US has said it received intelligence that ISKP acted alone.
Will the death toll rise?
As of the Monday after the attack, emergency workers said they were continuing to search for anyone who may be left wounded or dead inside the severely damaged concert hall. The death toll rose multiple times over the weekend as more bodies were found.
Many families were left not knowing if relatives present at the concert hall on Friday night were alive. Igor Pogadaev told the AP news agency that he was desperately seeking any details of his wife’s whereabouts after she went to the concert and stopped responding to his messages. Pogodaev said he scoured hospitals in the Russian capital and the broader Moscow region, looking for information on newly admitted patients. But his wife was not among those reported injured or on the list of victims identified so far, he said. Moscow’s health department said on Sunday it had begun using DNA testing to identify the bodies of those killed, a process that would take at least two weeks.

Taylor Swift Is Officially a Billionaire Thanks to Eras Tour, Song Catalog and Real Estate Portfolio: Report
Swift's ongoing Eras Tour reportedly surpassed $1 billion in revenue last year
Karma is Taylor Swift becoming a billionaire.
According to a Forbes report published Tuesday, the 34-year-old pop superstar has officially reached billionaire status — thanks to her ongoing Eras Tour, extensive song catalog and real estate portfolio.
The publication reported that Swift is the only musician to earn the feat solely based on music and live performances, as the Eras Tour has surpassed $1 billion in revenue since its launch in March 2023.
Related: Taylor Swift Is Getting a Whole SiriusXM Channel Dedicated to Her — and It's Channel 13, Obviously
She's also earned quite a bit through the Eras Tour concert film , which became the highest-grossing concert film of all time with over $261 million earned at the box office since its Oct. 11 premiere.
Her earnings will likely only continue to rise with the upcoming release of her eleventh original studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , on April 19.
On Monday, Swift earned artist of the year at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards and teased "so many exciting things ahead of us" during her pre-recorded acceptance speech.

"Hey! I wanted to say thank you so much to anyone who voted for this award," the Grammy winner said in the clip. "iHeart, you've also just been so incredibly supportive over the course of my entire career, but especially this year has been pretty spectacular. I am so grateful for that."
"You know, to the fans, it is completely up to you to choose how you spend your time, what concerts you want to go to, what music you want to make the soundtrack of your life. And to anyone who has included me in those choices, I am so, so, so thankful for that," Swift shared.
The "Lavender Haze" musician added, "We have so many exciting things ahead of us. I'm continuing on with the tour and, most importantly, I have a brand new album called The Tortured Poets Department , which comes out on April 19. I cannot wait to share it with you."

"So, thank you for voting for me for this incredible honor — artist of the year," Swift's thoughtful speech concluded. "I am so blown away and so thankful and I just can't wait to keep having fun with you guys because we have a lot of exciting things coming up. Thank you so much."
Following the release of The Tortured Poets Department , she'll resume the Eras Tour on May 9 with four shows in Nanterre, France, before continuing its European leg through August. Then, she's set to return to the United States for concerts from October through December.
Last year, research company QuestionPro predicted the Eras Tour could potentially generate $4.6 billion for local economies throughout the U.S. based on how much ticket holders are spending to attend each show — which was estimated to be over $1,300 for tickets, travel and elaborate outfits at the time.
