Last year was our first charter experience. Are all charter / vacations packages normally delayed ?

No, not all charters and vacation packages are normally delayed.

It may be they want you to complete your trip before they issue a credit card refund, but who knows..

They give out tons, so their answer could be right.

Gave them a try a couple years ago, Summer Time, so not Weather winter ,but still a 4 hour delay.

Gave them a 2nd try, this winter, all went well, on time both ways,good service. Unlike lots of others again this winter!! Any breakdown, no plans replacement...

I think you need to be a bit patient. I agree that delays in any business situation are not good ... but sometimes it happens. Also over Christmas / New Year a lot of staff is on leave and/or offices entirely closed.

Tripadvisor staff removed this post because it did not meet Tripadvisor's forum guideline limiting each user to a single forums screen name.

I think they will process them, but the reasons that there may be a backlog sound convincing to me.

Sunwing Introduces Worry Free Plus Option

Sunwing is updating its Worry Free insurance offerings effective Sept. 19 and is introducing Worry Free Plus, a new coverage option to further meet the travel needs of customers and ensure they can vacation in paradise with confidence.

In making the announcement, Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing, said that: “Demand for winter and holiday travel is at its peak and, as Canadians gear up for their upcoming getaways, we want to meet customers where they are and provide them with more travel coverage options to suit their specific needs.”

Dawson continued: “We’re pleased to continue providing affordable Worry Free coverage and introduce our new Worry Free Plus plan which offers more flexibility for last-minute changes, including the option to transfer their package. Plus, customers can opt for added security by adding Manulife Global Travel Insurance’s medical and quarantine coverage to either Worry Free option for even greater peace of mind when travelling this winter.”

Customers who book their getaways from Sept. 19, 2022 onward will continue to have the option to purchase Sunwing’s Worry Free plan for only $49, offering one change to their vacation package or cancel altogether up to three days before departure.

The new Worry Free Plus plan is available for $99, an upgraded coverage option that allows customers to make one change, including the ability to transfer their package up to seven days before departure, or cancel their vacation package up to three hours before departure.

For added travel security, vacationers can purchase the Manulife Global Travel Insurance + Worry Free or Manulife Global Travel Insurance + Worry Free Plus plans, starting from $99 and $149 respectively.

With these plans, customers will enjoy the same benefits of Sunwing’s Worry Free coverage options, plus emergency medical coverage, quarantine coverage for fully vaccinated passengers, unlimited trip interruption coverage following departure, including baggage loss, damage and delay, plus flight and travel accident insurance.

Worry Free refunds* will be paid as a Sunwing travel voucher when purchased within 48 hours of booking. Note that vacationers who purchased Worry Free through their agents prior to Sept. 19, 2022, for travel from this date onward, can rest assured knowing their insurance coverage will not change but will be automatically upgraded to Worry Free Plus. No action is required from agents.

Travel company Sunwing reaches deal to pay refunds to more customers

Sunwing says it has reached a deal with the Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corp. for financing to allow more customers to receive refunds.

The travel company says customers with non-refundable bookings whose vacations were cancelled due to the pandemic, and who have received a future travel credit or travel vouchers, can now request a full refund.

Sunwing says customers who wish to keep their travel credit may do so.

It says future travel credits are available for travel up to Sept. 30, 2026.

To request a refund, eligible customers and travel agents must submit a request through an online COVID-19 refund request form by Aug. 27.

The new policy applies to hotels, flights and vacation packages booked on or before Friday for scheduled travel from Feb.1, 2020 onward.

Sunwing extends the validity of future travel credits.

There is no denying that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken an unprecedented toll on Canadians from coast to coast, and the entire world, and its timeline continues to remain uncertain. As a result, Sunwing has announced it is extending the validity of future travel credits until September 30, 2026.

All Sunwing customers who were impacted by cancelled travel due to the pandemic and who made non-refundable bookings will now be able to use their credits for travel up to September 30, 2026. The extension is intended to provide Sunwing customers with greater flexibility so they can plan their future vacation to the tropics with peace of mind.

While the vast majority of future travel credits were set to expire by June 20, 2022, travel restrictions and the global pandemic have gone on far longer than anyone could have ever expected. The voucher extension accounts for the uncertain timeline and travel restrictions currently in place. Moreover, it will ensure Canadians, including those in smaller regional markets, can enjoy a future getaway at a time that is convenient for them.

The travel credit extension is specific to those customers who made non-refundable bookings. Any Sunwing customers with cancelled travel as a result of the pandemic, and who made bookings that were refundable or partially refundable, have received refunds in the form of original payment.

TORONTO — Sunwing is extending the validity of its future travel credits (FTCs) to Sept. 30, 2026.

The move comes days after  Sunwing, along with Canada’s other major carriers, announced the cancellation of its winter sun flights.

“There is no denying that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken an unprecedented toll on Canadians from coast to coast, and the entire world, and its timeline continues to remain uncertain,” says Sunwing in a statement issued today.

“As a result, Sunwing is pleased to announce it is extending the validity of future travel credits until September 30, 2026.”

All Sunwing customers who were impacted by cancelled travel due to the pandemic and who made non-refundable bookings will now be able to use their credits for travel up to September 30, 2026.

The company says the extension is intended to provide Sunwing customers with greater flexibility so they can plan their future vacation to the tropics with peace of mind.

Speaking with Travelweek, Melanie Filipp, Sunwing’s Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, said yesterday that  the airline is standing by agents and values their business.

“We know this is a challenging time and we empathize with our travel agent partners who are juggling financial strain, all while working tirelessly to guide customers through the ongoing travel restrictions and help them manage their upcoming or cancelled vacation bookings,” she says. “We are confident that, by working together, we will come out even stronger on the other side of this. In the meantime, we’re always here to lend a helping hand to our travel agents and address questions or concerns they may have.”

Announced on Jan. 29 , in a move that took effect Jan. 31, Sunwing, along with Air Canada, WestJet and Transat, cancelled all flights to the Caribbean and Mexico through April 30 at the request of the federal government as part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and all its new variants.

Specifically for those cancelled flights Jan. 31, 2021 – April 30, 2021, all four airlines are offering the option of refunds.

Sunwing has secured access to $375 million of liquidity with a new loan announced by the Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corp. (CEEFC) and made under the Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility (LEEFF).

A 3.5-hour car/bus tour of Moscow.

This is the best tour of Moscow city as all the important sights are visited. I am your Moscow city guide who will walk you through the city explaining the charming history of the city. This tour begins with picking you up from the hotel. 3 breaks are offered for photographing.

First, we will visit the most famous riverside streets and bridges in the center of the city with the most beautiful views of the Kremlin and the Moskva River (e.g. the Kremlin embankment and the Great Stone Bridge).

A military tour – riding on tanks in Stupino (Moscow region)

For Fedoskino lacquer boxes, head 20 miles outside of Moscow where you can visit the Fedoskino factory , which employs nearly 300 artists and scores of highly skilled craftsmen who produce lacquer miniatures. If you don’t want to visit the factory, find them at the Izmailovsky Market  (Alleya Bol'shogo Kruga, 7; 00 7 499 166 6119; daily 9am-6pm).

Traditional Orenburg shawls are hand-knitted and known for being warm depsite being elegantly thin. You can find them at Indefxflat (41 Starokonyushenny Pereulok) or Tagansky Passage (Taganskaya Ulitsa, 3; 00 7 916 836 7110). Elsewhere, be wary of fakes.

Winter is a mixed blessing, with snow often falling right through to March, covering its distinctive Soviet towers, sprawling parks and onion-domed churches with romantic layers. The bitterly cold temperatures won’t be for everyone, but the hotel rates are cheap—excluding New Year—and the city’s cafés, restaurants and bars are even more welcoming than usual.

Spring and summer are inevitably more popular—and expensive; the former is a particularly good time to visit for fewer tourists, reasonable temperatures and events like Russian Fashion Week (April) and the Spring Festival (May 1-2), while in summer the temperatures, prices and number of outdoor events all soar in tandem. Autumn can be pleasant, with some good deals and favourable weather, but it’s audaciously short so you’ll need to time it well.

Local laws and etiquette

St Petersburg is a very laid back and generally safe city, but the usual precautions should be taken against pickpocketing and phone/bag snatching, especially in busy tourist areas such as the underground and Nevsky Prospect.

It’s worth carrying your passport or ID around as police checks do take place, though they’re usually not the corrupt shakedowns of yesteryear.

There are a few general rules of etiquette, mostly general Russian superstitions rather than distinct to St Petersburg: don’t shake hands across a doorway; always bring a gift if visiting someone’s home; don’t place your elbows on a table when eating; don’t place finished bottles on the table – the floor is the preferred place for them. 

Attitudes around LGBT+ culture in Moscow and St Petersburg are changing, if slowly. There are communities and clubs in both cities, but they tend to remain mostly hidden from public view. Exercise caution in public. For more information, read the  FCO advice .

Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. All reward travel is subject to taxes, fees, and other government or airport-imposed charges of at least $5.60 per one-way trip. Applicable taxes, fees, and other government or airport-imposed charges can vary significantly based on your arrival and departure destination. The payment of any taxes, fees, and other government or airport-imposed charges is the responsibility of the Passenger and must be paid at the time reward travel is booked with a credit card, flight credit, or Southwest gift card. When traveling on reward travel, you will receive all fare product features except for earning Rapid Rewards points. Any change in itinerary may result in an increase in points used. Points bookings are subject to change until ticketed. If you cancel your reservation at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight, any remaining unused points will be returned to your Rapid Rewards account.
