All About the Combined Kenya Uganda Safari Tours - What you get in the Uganda ad Kenya Tours

Kenya is the historical home of the East African safari, a land of sweeping savannah grasslands inhabited by charismatic mega-fauna, including Big Cats, the Big Five (elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino) and just about everything in between. Elsewhere, landscapes here stir the soul with deserts in the north, dense forests in the west, Rift Valley lakes in the center and tropical coast out east. This result for those on safari is an experienced safari industry ready to show you a seemingly endless parade of wildlife against one of the most beautiful backdrops in Africa. The safari bucket list for Kenya includes seeing the Great Migration in the legendary Masai Mara, Amboseli’s unforgettable views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Samburu’s leopards. Encounter fascinating cultures in authentic Masai villages and taste the flavours of Africa, India and Europe in the melting pot that is Swahili culture. Kenya’s biggest attraction is the natural movement of mega-herds – wildebeest, zebra and gazelle – following the summer rains and sweet grasses in an annual pilgrimage called the Great Migration. Depending on when your Kenya safari takes place, you may witness the life-and-death struggles of the Mara River crossings or dramatic encounters with Africa’s top predators on the open plains.

Uganda is mostly known for its mountain gorilla tourism and most people visiting Uganda will include a gorilla trekking experience in their itinerary. But while in Uganda you can can also enjoy great wildlife safaris in the savannah national parks, chimps tracking and other primates as well. Highly esteemed is the chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park's Kyambura Gorge. In Queen Elizabeth NP, you can also do safari game drives to see lions, elephant, hippos, buffalo, leopard among other wildlife but also do a boat trip on Kazinga Channel. Murchison Falls National Park offers excellent wildlife viewing as well as spectacular scenic beauty. You can take a boat trip on the Nile River to the famous Murchison Falls or to the delta. The latter is particularly rewarding for birders, and sightings of the prehistoric shoebill are very common in this area.  Kidepo Valley National Park offers a true wilderness experience and is home to many species that don’t occur elsewhere in the country, including the graceful cheetah.

Where to go on a Kenya safari tour ?

The Masai Mara is where to go in Kenya for the dramatic wildebeest migration but there's a great deal more to this East African country. Other classic big game destinations such as Amboseli and Tsavo are easily accessible as is the recently opened-up Laikipia Plateau region. And after the drama of a Kenya safari, what could be better than a few lazy days on a white-sand beach? Kenya's tropical coast offers everything from buzzing resorts to exclusive island hideaways making the country ideal for safari and beach vacations.

When is the best time to visit Kenya and Uganda?

Uganda gorilla trekking is done throughout the year with the peak being June to October. Kenya and Uganda safaris generally go on throughout the year but the period of  June to October is the best time for a Uganda Kenya tour because the weather is generally dry (although it can get really hot in October and the tail-end of September) and most safari (game viewing) trails are open. This also coincides with the wildebeest and zebra migration in the Masai Mara. This is the dry season, and as it progresses, water sources for animals tend to dry up and become fewer, drawing animals in numbers to those that remain. One downside is that, apart from June (which is one of my favorite months to visit), high-season prices apply. But also during these months, you will have more visitors in the parks, with more game drive cars and this might affect your Kenya safari experience a bit, and some areas of the Masai Mara can be completely overwhelmed with vehicles during the migration.

If you do your Kenya and Uganda tour between November and February you  get to also enjoy lots of wildlife but there is more rain to slightly disrupt your safari experience. There are also lots of migrating birds that come-in during these months, but the country will be looking so vadantly green everywhere. The rains though are not so intense and there could be a shower like once or twice a week and right after you have clear skies.

Most of our intending tourists to Kenya and Uganda tend to avoid the months of March, April, and May because of the heavy seasonal rains which often make some safari trails and game drive tracks hard to drive through. But if you are looking at doing the cheapest Kenya tour, these are the months to look at because there are huge discounts on accommodation and flights into Kenya and Uganda (except for local visitors around Easter).

Wildlife Safari in Kenya and Uganda - the way it is done:

The conduct of wildlife viewing on a Kenya-Uganda safari will vary with the park or game reserve you go to. With the very popular parks of Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth NP, Kidepo Valley National Park, Maasai Mara, Samburu Lake Nakuru and Amboseli, there is plenty of superb wildlife-watching opportunities. Dense wildlife populations in all of these parks make them good all-round safari destinations that enable you to see as many animals (and different species) as you can in a short period of time. Other parks are more specialist – such as the birds and primates of Kakamega, and the sitatunga in Saiwa Swamp – allowing you to tick off a hard-to-find species, usually without the crowds. And a more exclusive Kenyan safari experience is possible in the conservancies of Laikipia – you pay more, but, with the exception of Ol Pejeta Conservancy, crowds are non-existent and wildlife watching is excellent. At most of these conservancies, you can get off-road as well, meaning that you’ll get a lot closer to the animals than you will in a national park.

If you like a more sedate and relaxing safari, a bit of boating, walking too with some rare wildlife opportunities, and if you don’t want to share your wilderness with too many other tourists, then a trip to Tanzania's wild south will be the best idea you ever have.

Most days out on safari begin with a quiet African voice waking you well before sunrise. After dressing quickly, and having a coffee or tea, you head out for a few hours in a safari vehicle (with other guests, a driver, guide and sometimes a tracker) looking for wildlife – this time, and the last hours before sunset, are ideal for watching wildlife. You’ll return to the lodge or camp mid- to late morning for a proper sit-down breakfast. A few hours of relaxation, followed by lunch, then a few hours more doing very little occupies the hottest part of the day when even animals retreat into the shade. Afternoon tea, often known as High Tea in a nod to colonial-era safari traditions, happens around 3 PM or 3:30 PM, then it’s back out looking for wildlife until after dark. Just before sunset, you’ll stop for another safari institution, the ‘Sundowner’, when you’ll watch the sunset while nursing the drink of your choice. You arrive back in camp in time to freshen up, then it’s dinner and off to bed, before it all starts again very early the next morning.

Mountain gorilla trekking is the top attraction, but almost equally exciting is chimpanzee trekking. A variety of monkeys can be seen throughout the country and a troop of habituated golden monkeys, endemic to the Albertine Rift, can be visited in Mgahinga National Park. Away from the forest environment, Uganda has several good savannah reserves where more conventional wildlife viewing is offered on game drives and boat trips

A Guide to Accommodation on Uganda and Kenya Safari Tours and Kenya Beach Holiday (How Tour Prices are Computed for Lodges, Camps, Hotels and Resorts)

If you are planning a safari tour to Uganda and Kenya, you should expect the quality of your accommodation in improve with the cost or price tagged on it. Mostly, the lower budget accommodation will be the campsites that are usually basic. They are sometimes crowded and not always in the best locations within the national parks or reserves, but they are well priced and often have ample facilities such as showers and toilets.

Most people doing a safari in Uganda and Kenya will go for the lodges because of great locations inside the park or with great views into the safari parks. They are also most frequently renovated and should generally offer a great service for your stay.

There is also the option the tented safari camps which could be either mobile camps or permanently constructed safari camps. They have these quite spacious walk-in sheltered tents that when inside will be like large lodge rooms in terms of size but with canvas for walls and floor. The canvas tent gives a superb wildlife experience, in that you will be able to hear all the sounds of the park in the night and day yet it offers all the privacy you would need in a remote African park. In most cases, the tents are well-spaced to reinforce guest privacy.  Most lodge rooms and tents of this kind have comfortable (not camp) beds, sometimes a desk and usually a private bathroom; some even have an outdoor shower with no roof but walls that protect your modesty. Particularly in tented camps, you’ll most likely need to recharge your devices not in your room but at a power station in the main public area.

The Ugandan gorilla trekking reserves of Bwindi and Mgahinga are located at high altitude and the climate tends to be cold and wet. Most accommodation in this area is therefore suitable to this kind of climate, and you can expect cozy cottages with log fires.

How safe is Kenya and Uganda for tourists?

“For the most part, Kenya and Uganda safari is safe, but there are some important things to know. Nairobi and, to a lesser extent, some other Kenyan cities have a reputation for violent crime. I’ve spent a significant amount of time in Nairobi and elsewhere and have never once had a problem, but it does happen often enough to mean that you should always be careful and follow local advice when it comes to these cities. Another potential danger comes from traveling on the country’s roads – the accident rate is extremely high. You can minimize the danger by spending as little time as you can in Nairobi and other cities – Kenya’s charm rarely resides in its major urban centers – by never traveling at night and by flying between the parks. The danger from wild animals is minimal; most Kenya safari trips and operators have excellent safety records, and you should be fine if you follow the safety briefings and instructions from guides.”

These problems are mostly in the past and tourists can now freely move around the whole country. This new level of security has opened up the north for tourism and in particular the beautiful Kidepo Valley National Park, which was previously only accessible via very expensive charter flights. As is the case in any developing country, petty crime is a concern in urban centers, and visitors should take normal safety precautions when visiting cities and avoid traveling at night. All national parks have security police to maintain the safety of all visitors

Map of the route for Kenya & Uganda Gorilla Overland: Forests & Wildlife Spotting

Places visited

Day 1 nairobi.

Arrive at anytime.

Prepare for tomorrow’s early morning by checking out the hotel bar with your newest friends. Travelling can take a lot out of you so sit back, fill those food and drink needs, and spend a chill night becoming familiar with your group and CEO.

Exclusive Inclusions:

Day 2 nairobi/masai mara.

Hit the road and journey through the Great Rift Valley today on the way to one of the most famous national parks in Africa and Kenya’s premier wildlife reserve.

Stretch those legs and take in your surroundings before heading on a late afternoon wildlife safari drive with excellent chances of seeing the “big five”. This natural environment coupled with the park’s varied wildlife provides for a spectacular safari experience.

Meals included:

Day 3 masai mara.

Grab those cameras and jump in the safari vehicle with your driver/guide to spot wildlife in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Listen to your guide describe the African bush as you traverse one of the world’s top safari destinations. Masai Mara is known for its abundance of big cats and wildebeest (see if you can capture a picture of one)!

Day 4 Masai Mara/Lake Nakuru National Park

Awake to the sounds of the bush as your alarm clock before breaking down camp and jumping in the Lando. Today, the group is heading to Lake Nakuru, known for harbouring flocks of pink flamingos and a rich variety of bird species.

Before reaching the safari lodge inside Lake Nakuru National Park, you’ll stop at the G Adventures-supported Ubuntu Cafe where you will enjoy a meal and have the opportunity to shop for locally and internationally sold products as memorable and impactful souvenirs.

Later, the group will go on an afternoon wildlife drive through the area.

Day 5 Lake Nakuru National Park/Eldoret

Another day, another chance to see more wildlife and live your African safari dream. After your morning safari drive around Lake Nakuru keeping your eyes wide open in search of buffalo, impala, and the elusive leopard. The group will bump along in the Lando sharing photos of your day on the road to Eldoret.

Day 6 Eldoret/Kampala

It’s time to cross another country off of those travel lists as you cross the border from Kenya into Uganda. Drive along reminiscing on inside jokes and experiences from the trip before camping in Kampala (the country's capital) where you will arrive in the late afternoon.

Day 7 Kampala/Lake Bunyonyi

Even though you get to do something pretty awesome everyday you’re going to cross the equator today in the Lando (which we think is a pretty cool thing to be able to add to a travel resume) and head off to Lake Bunyonyi.

The name Bunyonyi means ‘place of many little birds’ and it is undoubtedly the loveliest lake in Uganda. It’s winding shores encircle 29 islands and its surrounded by steep terraced hillsides that will have you wondering if you are somewhere in Asia. But the best part is that Lake Bunyonyi is a croc and hippo free lake (unlike many lakes in East Africa) so you can swim in its calm waters as much as you like… such bliss!

Day 8 Gorilla Trek

Today’s the day that some of your dreams may just come true because you are going on a guided mountain gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (so insanely cool!) So get ready to embark on an unforgettable hike deep into the jungle through volcano forests alongside a park ranger to search for mountain gorillas. The treks can vary in length and difficulty so be prepared for a challenge, but know that if you spot these majestic creatures (we share 98% of our DNA with them) it will all be worth it.

Note: Ugandan authorities are fiercely protective of this natural treasure, and currently permit only a maximum of eight people, per day, to visit a given gorilla family. The group will be split into different sub-groups for the trek, and depending on the number of travellers, different sub-groups may do their trek on different days.

Day 9 Lake Bunyonyi

Let’s give Lake Bunyonyi some love today. Explore this magical place as the morning mist rises off of the gently lapping waters. With tons of optional activities to choose from like, swimming, hiking, canoeing, bird watching, or a motorboat tour of the lake there’s no time to be bored. Then relax together at the lodge in the evening talking about your group gorilla experiences.

Day 10 Lake Bunyonyi/Kalinzu Forest Reserve

Sit back, relax, and watch the Ugandan countryside slip past on today’s journey to Kalinzu Forest Reserve further north in the country.

The forest reserve is adjacent to Queen Elizabeth National Park and is characterized by open savannah, large area of swamp around Lake George, and the extensive Maramagambo Forest in the southeast. There’s a lot of landscapes to experience so what are you waiting for? Get started!

Day 11 Kalinzu Forest Reserve/Lake Mburo National Park

You know that saying, “the early bird gets the worm” well in this case the early bird gets to see chimpanzees. Get up early for an included chimpanzee tracking excursion and explore the verdant Kalinzu Forest Reserve with a ranger while being on the lookout for these chimpanzee families.

Afterwards, the group will visit tea plantation before setting off to Lake Mburo. Once you arrive there you can choose to book an afternoon boat cruise on the lake, or explore the local area on foot.

Day 12 Lake Mburo National Park/Jinja

Head back across the equator today in the Lando; Uganda is one of the few countries in the world where you can cross this imaginary geographical line on land.

Observe how water swirls in opposite directions on either side of the equator and then stop to enjoy a meal at the G Adventures-supported AidChild Equation Café & Gallery. With full stomachs and even more full hearts the group will continue on to Jinja, the adventure capital of Uganda.

Day 13 Jinja

Get out there, get active, and have some fun! Explore Jinja today solo or with your group by participating in the plethora of outdoor and adventure activities they have to offer.

Choose to raft down the White Nile River, break a sweat mountain biking up and down the hills surrounding the town, or for a more laid back day check out the local market. Keep your eyes ready to spot monkeys and other wildlife that can wander to the outskirts of this town.

Day 14 Jinja/Eldoret

Today is a bit of a travel day but you won’t mind because you could use the rest. The group will be leaving Uganda and crossing over into Kenya and travel to Eldoret. Hang out together as a group and enjoy a nice evening camping under the stars.

Day 15 Eldoret/Nairobi

After your adventurous experiences yesterday you’ll be glad to have a more low key travel day to replenish your energy before the journey home. So sit back and enjoy the ride as the group transfers through to the Kenyan countryside to Nairobi. We’re thinking naps, story time, and then maybe a mini dance party in the Lando to get you through the day. (Toto’s Africa song anyone?)

Tour ends on arrival in Nairobi. Not ready to leave Africa just yet? (Yeah, we don’t blame you) talk with your CEO about extending your adventure and get to know Kenya or beyond!

Combining your African safari with a Kenya and Uganda tour is the ideal way to experience the best that Africa has to offer. Kenya and Uganda are two exceptional safari destinations in East Africa that both offer phenomenal adventure safaris with truly distinctive and different African adventure experiences. Visitors come from all over the world to Kenya for wildlife safaris , and the nation is home to one of the most famous and iconic wildlife experiences of the great annual Wildebeest Migration in its renowned Maasai Mara . Kenya is one of the best places in Africa for checking off exceptional wildlife sightings, especially the big 5, including lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinoceros. You can enjoy viewing enormous herds of wildebeest, thousands of zebras, and many other antelopes during your combined Kenya and Uganda safari tour .

Kenya And Uganda Safari Tour

You can find countless attractions on your Kenya and Uganda tour , from the amazing national parks and reserves that inhabit some of the world’s most impressive wildlife species to the warm and welcoming people with different interesting cultures, to stun you. Kenya is a classic safari country, blessed with extraordinary rich diversity in its diverse range of landscapes, most of which are close to one another but still offer different and mind-blowing experiences.

A Kenya and Uganda safari tour is extremely exciting because it gives visitors the chance to learn about the magnificent and unquestionably incredible primates that provide remarkable adventure experiences unmatched anywhere else. The majority of visitors travel to Uganda after or before their Kenya Wildlife Safari to see the most well-known chimpanzees and mountain gorillas , which are thought to make up half of the world’s mountain gorilla population and reside in the mist-covered tropical rainforests of B windi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla Park.

Tourists enjoy a truly unique African adventure while exploring the undeniable beauty of Africa’s pearl, from its scenic savannah parks traversed by tropical and magnificent lakes, rivers, and wildlife, to the snowcapped Rwenzori Mountains with dramatic scenery and exciting people with rich cultures in their numerous vibrant cities and towns.

With the help of Focus East Africa Tours, you can take advantage of the combined Kenya and Uganda Tour, which offers you fully active nature-based safari moments with exciting adventures like primate trekking, wildlife game safaris, community encounters, boat trips, white water rafting, nature walks, straddling the equator, city tours, among others, across both countries. This tour will create wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experiences with a million memories to take back home. Below is Example of our Kenya and Uganda safari tour itinerary:

DAY 01: NAIROBI TO THE MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

You will be greeted by a member of our customer service team when you arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, who will give you a brief overview of your safari itinerary before handing you off to your driver-guide. Together, you will leave for the Masai Mara National Game Reserve with a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, and you will make it in time for check-in and lunch at the Ashnil Mara Camp. After an afternoon at leisure, you will proceed on a game drive in the evening until dusk, when you will return to your camp.

It is hard to comprehend how diverse and abundant the wildlife is in the Mara; over 450 kinds of animals have been identified here. Lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, zebras, wildebeests, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopards, several antelope species, and elephants are all easily observable. The Mara is the location of what is arguably nature’s most stunning event. Millions of wildebeest and zebra leave the Serengeti (Tanzania) every year in search of water and grazing. They are closely followed by lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures, which are savannah predators.

DAY 2: FULL DAY MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, KENYA

After breakfast the following morning, begin your Kenya Uganda Safari by leaving for a full-day game drive in the enormous Masai Mara National Game Reserve, where a picnic lunch will be served. Additionally, you will have the option to participate in extracurricular activities like a hot air balloon safari and a trip to a nearby Masai community .

DAY 3: FULL DAY MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE.

You will also enjoy the Masai Mara National Game Reserve on the third day. The reserve is known for its undulating grassland and the Mara River, which flows through it from north to south. The reserve, which has a surface area of 700 square miles and is a part of the Serengeti ecosystem , is home to the annual migration of up to two million wildebeest, thousands of zebra, and an entourage of carnivores from the Serengeti plains . This migration is known throughout the world and is triggered by rain and the arrival of succulent new grass. It is a costly journey because many of the weak, sick, and handicapped will perish in the whirling floodwaters of the Mara River as they attempt to cross it, and many more will be eaten by the rabid pack of predators. The Mara is also home to a number of majestic black-maned lions and one of the greatest densities of cheetahs on the continent.

DAY 4: DEPARTURE FROM MAASAI MARA TO ENTEBBE INTERNATONAL AIRPORT, UGANDA

After breakfast on the fourth day, continue with your Kenya-Uganda Safari. After a brief morning game drive, you will be driven to the Keekorok airstrip in time for your Air Kenya aircraft to Uganda Entebbe international airport . This flight takes off from the Masai Mara and lands in Entebbe. Our tour guide will meet you when you arrive at Entebbe International Airport and take you to your accommodation for checking in, dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: DRIVE TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

On day five, you will go to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel after breakfast and take you there, with a brief stop at the Equator en route.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site and one of the richest bioregions in the world. The roughly 350 wild Mountain Gorillas that make up slightly over half of the global population of these gentle primates are Bwindi’s most treasured species. The African Bird Club highly recommends going bird viewing at Bwindi. When you get to Bwindi, check into your hotel and, if time allows, partake in some extra activities like a cultural visit with the Batwa tribe, a “pygmy” group that originally lived in the jungle.

Discover how this distinct civilization lived and hunted in the jungle by taking part in the “Batwa Experience.” You could even get to use their bow and arrow. Alternately, you could stay the night at Bwindi Lodge and visit the “Changing Lives” local community initiative.

Kenya And Uganda Safari Tour

DAY 6: FULL DAY GORILLA TREKKING.

In the morning of your gorilla tracking adventure the following day, you’ll wake up early to have a filling breakfast in anticipation of the day’s strenuous activity. You must arrive by 8 AM at the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger station to register. Your gorilla expedition will begin after the rangers have given you a briefing. A fair level of fitness and a sturdy pair of walking boots or shoes are essential for the hike, which lasts between three and six hours on average.

You will be led by the rangers past the village gardens and into the woodland that resembles a jungle. As you look for the gorillas, they will guide you through the occasionally impenetrable bush, occasionally chopping through the thick undergrowth with a machete. Since the mountain gorillas are constantly being watched over for their protection, you are fairly certain to witness them. By maintaining frequent radio contact, the rangers keep an eye on each gorilla family.

The gorilla population is progressively growing, in part because of gorilla tourism, but the species is still at grave risk of extinction. Since gorillas and humans almost exactly have the same genetic makeup, it is important to protect their health against human diseases (via our food, for example). You’ll also be told to keep a distance of 7 meters from the gorillas in order to prevent disease from spreading to them.

You will be asked to put all of your possessions to the side and approach the gentle giants with just your camera after you have located the gorilla family. The guides will explain the animals’ actions and offer advice regarding what you are seeing. Young males, females with their young, and even a dominant silverback may be observed feeding, playing, conversing, or simply sleeping. Your meeting with the gorillas will live long in your memory.

7TH DAY: DEPARTURE

Early in the morning, after breakfast, your driver will transport you from Bwindi to Entebbe in time for your departing flight at the airport. Say goodbye to the lovely nation and make a commitment to travel with us again.

Uganda, Kenya And Tanzania: A Prefect Itinerary for 2024

Uganda, Kenya And Tanzania: A Prefect Itinerary for 2024. This vacation begins with gorilla trekking in Uganda’s lush rain forests and continues on to the savannahs of Kenya’s Masai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti , where you can witness the Great Wildebeest Migration . Next, you’ll visit the Ngorongoro Crater, which is home to the “Big 5” species of Africa (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), before kicking back at a coffee lodge with a view of Mount Meru.

Flying rather than driving between cities saves time and energy. There are a few overnight stops at city hotels included into the itinerary to keep things moving at a leisurely pace; these are ideal opportunities to kick the dust off your feet and catch up on what’s happening back at home. Small, intimate tented lodges in excellent game-viewing regions house you during your safari, and their spacious, plush tents come complete with private toilets and patios from which to take it all in. You get to go on a game drive every morning and afternoon, and you can even meet some of the locals. Hot air balloon rides are an additional possibility.

Nature lovers and wildlife photographers will enjoy this journey because of the abundance of unique experiences and diverse creatures they will encounter. Because of the high quality of the lodgings and the excellent service, it is also ideal for honeymooners and other couples on vacation.

Detailed Itinerary: Uganda, Kenya And Tanzania

Day 1 – 2: a night at lake victoria | 1 night.

When you land at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda, a tour representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel, The Boma Hotel Entebbe. The hotel’s location near Lake Victoria gives it a great home base for exploring the area. There is a swimming pool if you feel like working out after a long flight, in addition to free Wi-Fi and an on-site restaurant.

Days 2 – 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest | 3 Nights

The next morning, after breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken back to Entebbe Airport for your journey to Kihihi. You’ll be picked up and taken to the Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp , where you’ll spend the next three nights. Before visiting the local people and taking an educational stroll with native guides, you can relax in your suite, one of only eight at camp with views into the lush jungle canopy. The next two days will be spent in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park , being led by knowledgeable guides. The highlight of your trip will be meeting a gorilla in the wild (you have two gorilla day permits), but other fascinating primates, birds, and butterflies are all possible encounters. After a long day of hiking, you may look forward to a relaxing soak in your suite’s deep bathtub as the sun sets and a roaring campfire with local songs.

Days 5 – 6 From the Rainforest to Nairobi | 1 Night

Today you will be doing some traveling; after breakfast, you will be taken back to Kihihi to catch your aircraft to Entebbe. A representative will be waiting to help you board a flight to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi . You will be taken to House of Waine, the traditional first stop on countless Kenyan safaris. The hotel is conveniently close to several of the city’s main sights, including the Giraffe Centre , the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, and numerous craft galleries.

Days 6 – 9: Fly into the Masai Mara | 3 Nights

You will be transported from your accommodation to the city’s smaller Wilson Airport in time for your scheduled charter flight to the Masai Mara after breakfast. Located in the midst of the Masai Mara National Reserve on the banks of the Mara River, Sanctuary Olonana is a magnificent tented camp. Predators in particular will find it to be an ideal wildlife viewing location throughout the year. One of the most exciting parts of the Wildebeest Migration takes place near the Mara River between July and October. Two full days are at your disposal to take in the sights and sounds of the bush on professionally guided morning and afternoon game drives, regardless of the season. At the end of each day, you may relax in the camp’s mini-spa or take a dip in the camp’s own pool.

Days 9 – 12: Under Canvas in the Serengeti | 3 Nights

Before you go, get some food from the lodge’s cafeteria to eat on the road. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Migori, a Kenyan border town from where you may enter Tanzania and the city of Tarime. Once you arrive at the Serengeti National Park airstrip after your flight from Tarime, you’ll be received and sent to the Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp, where you’ll spend the next three nights. The chic and modern Kichakani camp is a migration expert’s dream, with prime locations for viewing the rumbling herds and the ever-present predators. Two full days of game drives await you; use this time to fully charge your camera’s batteries in your suite.

Days 12 – 14: Search for the Big 5 in Ngorongoro | 2 Nights

You can reach the edge of Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s biggest complete volcanic crater, from the Serengeti by flying to the nearby town of Manyara and then taking a road transfer. Your lodge, Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, is situated in a wooded valley just off the main road leading into the Crater, giving you a head start on the traffic. The next day, when you take a full-day journey to the Crater floor, you will see even more incredible sights than you did from camp the night before. Hippos, hyenas, flamingos, and big herds of antelope and zebra may all be seen at this popular tourist site, which is also noted for its easy and regular views of the Big 5 . When you return to camp, you can relax in your private tent bathroom.

Days 14 – 15: Coffee with Mount Meru Views | 1 Night

From Manyara, you may reach Arusha, Tanzania’s main international airport, in under an hour by plane. You will be picked up and taken to the Arusha Coffee Lodge, which is located only five minutes from the airport and has stunning views of the country’s largest coffee plantation and the country’s second-highest mountain, Mount Meru. Log fires, spa treatments, gourmet meals, and the best coffee you’ve ever had can all be found in the lodge’s peaceful environment. With Wi-Fi, it’s simple to look over vital documents and schedule forthcoming trips without leaving the house.

The tour concludes with breakfast at the resort before a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.

Eco Adventure Safaris Frequently Asked Questions, Answered

For those planning to trek mountain gorillas in Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo, the following information will help you plan and prepare for a great gorilla trekking safari.

Gorilla trekking is an activity that involves walking through the forest following a given trail to search and find the habituated mountain gorillas, once you find them in their natural habitat you will spend with them one-hour encounter having an opportunity to take photographs, learning more about their habits and behaviors. Uganda is home to more than 50% of the total number of the only remaining mountain gorillas in the world. Given the fact, mountain gorillas don’t survive in zoos for you to see these unique apes you will need to trek into their natural habitats to have an encounter with them.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in the southwestern park of Uganda bordering the districts of Kanungu, Rubanda and Kisoro, the park also borders the Uganda-DR Congo border. It is home to 19 habituated gorilla families open for gorilla trekking which are found in the four main gates/ sections that is Ruhija and Buhoma in the north, Rushaga and Nkuringo in the south.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the far southwestern part of Uganda in Kisoro district; it shares the border with Rwanda and DR Congo. Mgahinga is one of the 3 main national parks located in the virunga ranges other two national parks include Volcanoes National Park found in Rwanda and Virunga National Park found in DR Congo. Mghainga is home to 2 gorilla families which include Nyakagezi and Hirwa, however the trekking in mainly done in the Nyakagezi gorilla family given the fact Hirwa is unstable and hard to find.

Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda is located in northwestern Rwanda, it is home to Mountain Gorillas and five of the eight Volcano mountains found in the Virunga ranges. These include Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Gahinga, Bisoke and Muhabura. Volcanoes National Park is one of the 3 main national parks located in the virunga ranges other two national parks include Volcanoes National Park found in Rwanda and Virunga National Park found in DR Congo. It home to about 380 mountain gorillas and 10 habituated gorilla families open for gorilla trekking

This is a very tricky question but people say Rwanda is a better option than Uganda. Reasons to support this is that Volcanoes National Park is a 2-3 hours drive from Kigali, that Gorillas are easily seen etc. This is indeed very true and no one can run away from it. People used to avoid gorilla trekking in Uganda because of the 9-10 hours drive from Entebbe International Airport to Bwindi but now we arrange tours to Bwindi via Kigali which then becomes 4-5 hours drive only. With this, you land in Kigali, use the East African Tourist Visa (which allows you to visit both countries at ago) and then trek gorillas in Uganda at an affordable price. Because of this, even Rwanda tour operators are selling Uganda instead of their country.

Uganda used to sell/allocate gorilla permits depending on gorilla families but now, they nolonger do this. They sell/allocate gorilla permits per region. Eg Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. Depending on the gorilla permits booked for you at the time of confirmation, its when you could possibly decide on which gorilla family you prefer. All families are good but will depend on your interest. There those who want families with many silver barks, many members or those with many kids/young ones. So depending on your interests and physical fitness to trek in a strenuous or easy side of Bwindi, you will be allocated a gorilla family of your choice accordingly.

For you to spend much time with the mountain gorillas you will need to book gorilla habituation experience which is only done in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda, on this activity you will spend 4 hours encountering the semi habituated mountain gorillas while participating in activities geared towards making these wild gorillas get used to human presence.
