Widespread Panic Announce September 2024 Las Vegas Concerts

In the same vein as jam scene favorites before them and the current trend to perform under the neon lights of Sin City, Widespread Panic has tacked on their own slate of dates: September 20 through 22. The Southern-bred musicians will perform for three consecutive nights at The Theatre at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

As is the case with Widespread Panic, impending dates will not ride on one another’s coattails. Instead, the band will take a break from the live stage, only to return for the emergence of a pair of Memphis, Tenn., concerts at Radian Amphitheatre at Memphis Botanic Garden. Another break separates the aforementioned shows and WP’s Red Rocks run, June 21 through 23, which is also sold out.

After emerging from the rust-colored natural venue, the ensemble will rest again before taking on another round of dates, July 25 through 27 in Asheville, N.C. Sticking with the trend of monthly appearances, the band will play three shows at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway Park, August 22 through 24, and serving as the final performances before Widespread Panic’s Vegas stint.

In addition to live shows, Widespread Panic has been trickling out new single releases, including “ Little By Little ,” “ We Walk Each Other Home ,” “ Tackle Box Hero ,” and their latest delivery, which dropped on April 26, 2024, wisdom-fueled “ Life as a Tree .”

Widespread Panic’ s Sin City tickets go on sale Friday, May 10 at 10 a.m. P.T.

Widespread Panic is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia which consists of John Bell, John Hermann, Todd Nance, Domingo S. Ortiz, Dave Schools, Jimmy Herring and Duane Trucks.

The incarnation of Widespread Panic can be traced to one dorm room at the University of Georgie shared by John Bell and Michael Houser in 1988. As both musicians were guitarists, they decided to form a duo and began gigging and writing. After meeting with the rest of the musicians that formed the original line up the band, they played in fraternities and bars on a regular and Widespread Panic signed their first record label in 1987. They gained press attention whilst playing their local gig circuit they went on to sign with major label Capricorn Records in 1991 who released the band's self titled album in July of the same year.

This album was their first major release and was received well by critics which meant the band toured for almost all of 1992 to promote the material. The following album 'Everyday' broke the US Billboard 200 whilst 'Ain't Life Grand' broke top 100. The band achieved cult status for their live performance by the end of the 90's, a CD giveaway party in their hometown was attended by an estimated 100,000 people. They also headlined two nights of the first annual Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2002 as their status soared. In the same year founding member Michael Houser was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, his final show with the band was on July 2 before dying on August 10.

Their next albums were released on their own label, Widespread Records and achieved higher chart positions. Their peak to date remains 'Earth To America' which reached #48 in 2006. They continued to tour heavily throughout the promotion of all their albums and the band also hold the record for the most sold out shows at the Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Live reviews

Widespread Panic is one of those bands that is ten times better when you see them perform live. They are arguably one of the most talented and tenacious modern jam bands around.

When they perform live they are sure to give their 100% into the performance. Their sets have often extended three hours long and are filled with tasty guitar riffs and long jam sessions. They have a unique sound that encompasses a wide variety of genres ranging from southern rock, progressive rock, and blues. Their sound is not too far off from some of their heroes such as Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers. The band has a huge following and their shows are always successful. They have already broken a record for selling out the Red Rock Amphitheatre in Colorado the most times out of any band that has performed there.

The band has great chemistry together during their performances. The bass player, Dave Schools, manages to hold the sound together with his precise rhythmic playing, and Jimmy Herring adds much flavor to the music with his heavy-hitting guitar solos. Widespread Panic also incorporates unique keyboard effects into their music such as the funky sound of the clavinet and the smooth sound of a Wurlitzer.

If you see a Widespread Panic show, you can know that you will never see the same show twice as they constantly switch up their setlist every night to create a sense of surprise and freshness to their performances. Widespread Panic also incorporates atmospheric light shows into their performance to create an epic tone to their show.

At a Widespread Panic show you can expect to rock out for hours hearing a diverse list of intricate songs that are played with great skill. Everything from the lights, the great music, and the relaxed vibe of the show makes a Widespread Panic show worth checking out.

The show started with John Bell’s gruff tones rasping out ‘A’ right. Good evenin’ everybody.’ Just to this, the crowd roared. Widespread Panic’s fans are insane, as I presume most rock fans are. Hard core rocking and screaming ensued as the band began to Jam. Widespread Panic are a distinctively Southern band, completely different to any British rock band you might stumble upon. They mix Southern style with progressive rock and even a hint of the blues. There is something oddly jazzy about their music that sets them apart from the crowd. Bell’s vocal are less gruff than his speaking voice, thank God, but sufficiently rocky. What this band is really good at is performing: all talented musicians, the guitars, bass and drums are all used in full force. Guitar solos are galore and in many ways the band seems stuck in a permanent state of basement jamming. But the crowd loves it. They came for the playing, not the lyrics, although they shout them out anyway. Than band kept great pace and energy all night.

BEST LIVE BAND AROUND!! If you haven't seen a Panic show, you haven't experienced life. Every song, every night, every year is different and magical in it's open special way. I'm afraid to think what my life and musical tastes would be like without these phenomenal musicians. John Bell, Dave Schools, JoJo Herman, Sunny Ortiz, Michael Houser, Todd Nance, Jimmy Herring, Dewayne Trucks, George McConnell, John Keane! Never miss a Sunday show! WSMFP!!! Roll Tide!

It was a enjoyable show, but certainly not one of the best for a number of reasons. The Wharf did not have the side large video screens working. The venue was only about half full, thanks in many parts to the Orange Beach Officials derogatory comments about the WSP Fanbase. It was only a one set show versus the customary 2 set show.

Heat. Fire. A classic panic setlist, with a few killer new rockin' covers thrown in. Duane's first visit to the Nation's Capital was rock solid all the way. Drivin > Disco > Hatfield > Honky Red > Drums > TV Eye > Stopgo > Drivin was insanity. Played perfectly. So high energy. Can they repeat the magic tonight? Stay tuned...

Widespread Panic Gets Tour Manager Involved On Second Night In Milwaukee [Audio]

widespread panic, widespread panic riverside theater, widespread panic milwaukee, widespread panic stream, widespread panic milwaukee streem, widespread panic 10/22/22

Widespread Panic returned to the Riverside Theater on Saturday night to rock the venue with extended scorchers and fan-favorite covers for the band’s second of three shows in Milwaukee. Sunshine and college game day in Brew Town ensured that most attendees were buzzing as they staggered toward the legendary theater. Like always, the six-headed monster from Athens, GA didn’t disappoint.

Getting down to business, Panic performed an emotional cover of Michael Stanley ’s “Let’s Get The Show On The Road” as the audience joined in for the opening lines with passionate fervor. Though Panic played this tune at the D.C. run last month, it is just too damn good to be shelved. Jimmy Herring cut listeners to tatters with an early buzzsaw solo.

After giving the feral audience time to settle down, Duane Trucks and Sunny Ortiz introduced “Pleas”, then grabbed shovels to exhume Bloodkin ’s “Henry Parsons Died” with unholy purpose. Another brief silence was broken by the opening notes of “Up All Night”, giving the band time and space to explore the cosmos together.

After pausing once more to temper the animals in the audience, the rolling percussions of “Shut Up and Drive” accelerated down the night’s highway. Jimmy Herring put the pedal to the floor and the tail lights disappeared over the horizon. Dave Schools picked up where Herring left off and steered the band into his bass opus, “Stop-Go”. This song got the extended treatment, too, as JoJo Hermann ’s piano flourishes gave way to a rare interpolation of Leonard Cohen ’s “That Don’t Make It Junk” from John Bell ’s corner.

Panic’s tour manager, Steve Lopez , joined in next to add some extra percussion to a hair-raising cover of War ’s “Slippin’ Into Darkness”. As a six-piece once again, the band honored late, founding drummer Todd Nance by plunging into his lasting composition, “Down”, before sneaking into the barn for a nocturnal joyride on a bouncing “Love Tractor” to end the first frame.

Widespread Panic returned from set break to defy gravity during “Porch Song”. The instrumental “Party At Your Mama’s House” blazed into an uninterrupted sequence of jams that first melted into a bass-heavy cut of Vic Chesnutt ’s “Blight”. Dave Schools’s vocals shined (“Thru the blight of you”) and added “Just love each other… it isn’t that hard” into his traditional improvisation section.

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Widespread Panic (@widespreadpanichq)

Without pause, a scorching “Flicker” was extinguished in the white water rapids of Schools’s bass deluge on “Bear’s Gone Fishin'”. Trucks and Ortiz carried those percussive rhythms into a thunderous “Cease Fire”. Jimmy Herring spoke a language outside of cultures and nations yet understood by all as he pleaded for the enemy to throw down their weapons and surrender.

An ethereal “Blue Indian” made its annual haunt next—with assistance from the raucous audience for the “We got a party goin’ on / Many spirits strong!” verse—to close out the stream of consecutive jams, then strapped the crowd in for the intergalactic rodeo of “Space Wrangler”. (“Knowing that he found the place that serves the coldest beer!”). Wrapping up the second set, JoJo led the band through another beer-soaked tale of debauchery with a bawdy “Blackout Blues.”

With a few minutes left on the clock, Widespread Panic returned to the stage for a two-song encore. First, Tom Petty ‘s “Honey Bee” prompted howls from the crowd as JB sang the lyrics “I’m the king of Milwaukee!” To finish off Saturday night’s jubilee, WSP delivered a euphoric cover of Skip James ’s “I’m So Glad”. The song was a longtime staple for for the band’s cosmic mentor, Col. Bruce Hampton , and fellow Aquarium Rescue Unit member, Jimmy Herring channeled his spirit with intention on guitar.

Widespread Panic rounds out this three-night stay at the Riverside Theater with a climactic Sunday show tonight. Things are bound to get weird, Milwaukee. Buckle up and have fun.

Bad Bunnys Safety Threatened After Multiple Fights Break-Out At Dallas Concert

  • Bad Bunny's Dallas show turned chaotic with fights erupting among fans, overshadowing the performance briefly.
  • Some female fans engaged in intense brawls, reminiscent of a video game scene, causing widespread attention online.
  • Despite the commotion, Bad Bunny continued his performance unaware of the altercation, raising concerns over safety measures.

Bad Bunny’s latest world tour stop got rowdy as several fans got into an altercation while watching his performance, causing a moment of panic.

During the Saturday night concert, a series of violent fights broke out, briefly overshadowing the performance. Bad Bunny was seemingly unaware of the chaos unfolding as he entertained the audience at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Multiple fights broke out at bad bunnys dallas show.

According to TMZ , the skirmishes erupted among female fans, in what almost seemed like a video game scene playing out for other concert goers. Captured in a viral video, the intense brawl showcased two women grappling each other's hair and exchanging a barrage of punches.

Nearby, the publication says another pair of women engaged in a physical confrontation, with one pushing the other over seats while continuing to strike. Amidst the chaos, several men attempted to intervene and diffuse the escalating violence.

The incidents captured widespread attention online, sparking discussion about safety and security measures at live events, with some people even drawing comparisons to the fatal Astroworld tragedy (which still has Travis Scott facing billions in lawsuits ).

Fans Believe Kendall Jenner Could Go Official With Devin Booker Soon To Make Bad Bunny Jealous

Despite the commotion, Bad Bunny continued his performance, unaware of the altercation occurring away from the stage. However, the fans in the vicinity found themselves torn between watching the artist and the unfolding brawl. Interestingly, the individual filming the incident noted that it was the second confrontation of the evening, raising questions about the intensity of the earlier altercation.

Details regarding any arrests or medical attention following the altercation remain uncertain. Nonetheless, the footage suggests that at least two women in the crowd may have sustained injuries, with visible signs of a black eye and possible bruising evident.

Bad Bunny’s World Tour Remains Ongoing

Bad Bunny hasn’t made a formal comment on the incident. But it seems like his world tour will continue, despite the bump in the road. The Puerta Rican rapper, who has been on the road since February, will conclude the North American leg of his Most Wanted Tour later this month.

Unfortunately, Bad Bunny’s Dallas performance isn’t the first concert to be marred by a physical altercation, though hopefully it’ll be the only violence the entertainer faces for the rest of his career, or at least tour.

The Astroworld tragedy, headlined by Travis Scott in 2021, for example, stands as one of the most devastating incidents, where a crowd surge led to the deaths of 10 people and injuries to hundreds more. Scott is still facing legal repercussions, including numerous lawsuits alleging negligence.

Similarly, the 1979 Who concert in Cincinnati saw 11 fans trampled to death in a rush for seats. The incident led to changes in concert safety regulations. In 2000, the Roskilde Festival in Denmark witnessed a fatal crowd crush during a Pearl Jam performance, resulting in nine deaths. Investigations followed, leading to safety improvements for future festivals. These incidents underscore the importance of concert safety protocols and the need for vigilant crowd management to prevent such tragedies.
