Review: Aldila Tour Blue and Green Shafts

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

I started with the Blue, which is billed a the higher launching mid spin shaft.   I immediately could feel the difference, this shaft felt better than the stock shaft.  Much smoother and easier to load.  It was a stiff flex like I normally play, but just felt really good.  On the tee box I found this shaft hit higher than the stock shaft, but spin was still about the same.  While I didn’t have an accuracy problem with the stock shaft, the Blue was just a little tighter yet.  I don’t think I hit any more fairways than before, but was less off line.  What I did pick up was some height.  My launch angle went up, which also translated to a couple more yards of carry.  This is the biggest benefit of the Blue.  High Launch with moderate spin and excellent feel.  With so much discussion about the “Loft Up” with low spin of the SLDR, this might be a really good fit for many golfers looking for “tour” feel and accuracy with solid numbers to back it up.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

While we all know that shaft looks don’t impact their performance, but yet we are inclined to install a shaft we like the looks of and these are lookers.  The matte color near the grip which blends into a matte black/grey color is very appealing; not too bold, not too subtle.  They look almost like stock shafts in the SLDR.

Aldila offers two tour shafts to fit your game.  As you can see from the numbers they are different and depending on your needs, one might fit you better than the other.  For me the Tour Green is going to be my gamer in the SLDR.  I am really liking the feel, control and confidence it offers.  Hitting fairways with good distance is really beneficial for scoring.  Aldila produced tour quality shafts that will benefit the amateur as well.

Aldila ATX Tour Green Wood Shaft Review

Appearance:  Very nice looking shaft with clean graphics and crisp colors.  The matte finish should not show quite as much bag rash.

Flexes Available:   R,S,TS,X and TX in both the 65 and 75 gram.

MSRP:   $349.00 USD

Availability:   Directly from Aldila, or from a variety of fitters and some retail golf stores.

Weight Consistency:   4.5 out of 5

Butt Stiffness (CPM):  Consistent increase in CPM from R through X.  TX tests the same as X so only difference is torque.  Consistency is 4.5 out of 5.

Tip Stiffness:  Mid

Mid Stiffness:  Mid-Stiff

Balance Point:   Will yield a slightly higher swing weight.

Torque:   Good transition of higher torque in R flex to lowest torque in TX flex.  Mid torque rating on average:

SQI (Shaft Quality Index):   93.4 out of 100  (Above Average)

Trajectory:  Launch angle is mid.  Tested against other low to mid launch shafts, the Tour Green was .5 to 1.5 degrees higher launch.

Spin:   Mid to low mid.  We were all a bit surprised that the spin rate was lower than we expected.

Feel:  Solid feel for all testers.  Feels like a one-piece shaft with steady load throughout the swing.  Good feel at impact.

General:   All four raters liked the solid feel of the Tour Green.   Raters had driver swing speeds from 79 mph to 110 mph and had shafts that  were matched to their swings.  For those players that are playing a very low spin driver, this shaft may be the ticket!  While this may not replace my Elements 70 MK very soon, it is a definite contender.

Aldila ‘Tour Blue’ and ‘Tour Green’ shafts

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

When designing its newest line of shafts, the “Tour Blue” and “Tour Green,” Aldila sought inspiration from its most successful platform, the NV shafts it released to tour players more than 10 years ago.

The NV shafts were made using the company’s Mico Laminate Technology, which means that extremely thin, high-quality layers of graphite were stacked on top of each other to make a shaft that felt smooth and performed more consistently.

A lot has changed in the golf industry in 10 years, but one thing that hasn’t changed is golfer’s appreciation of consistent, smooth-feeling shafts.

For all the technology that went into the new shafts, their design differences are simple. The Tour Green shafts have a stiffer tip section, which creates the low-launch, low-spin conditions that tend to work well with today’s drivers. The Tour Blue shafts have a softer tip section that launches the ball higher and with more spin, making them a good fit for fairway woods.

So what has made the Tour Blue and Tour Green two of the most popular shaft models on tour in 2013? According to John Oldenburg, vice president of engineering for Aldila, it’s the same reason that the NV shafts were so popular on tour — high-quality materials that create smooth feel and consistency.

Alidla NV Shafts

Oldenburg said the Tour Blue and Tour Green shafts are the most consistent shafts his company has ever produced. They use what he said are the thinnest materials available, graphite fibers that are between three one-thousandths and five one-thousandths of an inch thick, which makes them better in two ways:

  • Because graphite shafts are built in layers, their manufacturing always results in a bit of overlap (often referred to as a shaft’s seams). Using thinner materials allows the seams to stay thin. When those seams are balanced throughout the shaft, as Aldila does with its Micro Laminate Technology, it results in a shaft that has more consistent wall thicknesses.
  • Since the graphite fibers are thinner, they also need less resin, or glue, to be held together. According to Oldenburg, resin is the weak link of graphite shaft design, because it is much more flexible than the graphite fibers it holds together. With less resin, Aldila can make shafts that are lighter, stiffer and lower in torque.

Aldila engineers also made the Tour Blue and Tour Green shafts with a balance point that is closer to the handle than its NV shafts, which helps balance out the heavier weight of today’s driver heads. It also allows golfers to play the longer-length shafts that have become more common in the industry, yet still keep the swing weight of the club in the D2-to-D5 range that most golfers are comfortable with.

“Before adjustable drivers … features that added weight to the head … drivers used to weigh between 198 and 202 grams, and measure between 44.5 and 45 inches long,” Oldenburg said. “Now they’re between 206 and 2012 grams, are are 45 to 46 inches long.”

Tour Green and Blue Close

The last, and maybe most important finishing thing for the sales of the Tour Blue and Tour Green shafts are the color-coded circuitboard graphics near the handle, which Oldenburg said he hopes communicate to consumers the high-tech materials and construction used to make the shafts.

“Technology stories like Micro Laminate are hard to tell,” Oldenburg said. “This is a very high-tech product, but unfortunately it still looks like a stick and it has to by the rules of golf. With the circuitboard look we’re saying, ‘Hey, there is technology in this.'”

The Tour Blue and Tour Green shafts will be released on Sept. 15 and carry an MSRP of $349. Aldila will initially release both models in a 65-gram version in R, S, X and TX flexes. In January, Aldila plans to release the 75- and 85-gram versions of the shafts.

I am looking for 5.5 rifle shafts ( project x)

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

Jun 15, 2013 at 1:37 am

I wonder what it actually costs Aldila to make these shafts. One used to be able to purchase a high end shaft at a reasonable price. They talk about the original Aldila NV green shaft. I recall that shaft starting out at around $88. After about a year, the price had dropped to around $54 after newer models (not necessarily better) had entered the Aldila group. The UST ProForce (gold and purple) shaft was super popular for years, and it sold for around $34. The Grafalloy Prolite was the most popular shaft for several years, and it sold for $45. So what exactly makes these cost $350, other than that other companies are charging that much for some of theirs? Wonder how long it will be before we see a similar looking shaft in OEM drivers, but the shaft will say “designed exclusively for (insert name of company making driver)” rather than it actually being the “real deal” shaft.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

Jun 18, 2013 at 9:29 pm

You are so right. The specs may even be the same so what exactly is the reason the price has gone crazy? In some cases, OEM’s have the EXACT shaft in their stock equipment and you can buy an entire club for the same cost as the shaft. This has nearly totally eliminated reshafts. When they stop making some of those more reasonably priced shafts, we’ll just throw away a driver with a broken shaft. It will be silly to repair it when you can just buy a newer version.

Sad to hear they are designed to swingweight properly in 45-46 inch drivers. That is the standard now?

Look at the guys on tour, they are almost all between 44 and 45 inches.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

Jun 14, 2013 at 12:32 pm

While they’re deesigned to play in longer lengths, like all shafts they can be cut down to play shorter – you just need to add weight to the head to get the swingweight you desire. This can be done in many ways – shaft insert weights, adjustable / removable weights, or hot melt in the head. I’ve done all 3 – but usually not all on the same club!

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

I have no interest in making the head even heavier and/or messing with the club heads center of gravity. If i’m dropping this kind of dough I think slapping tape in various areas should not be necessary.

Yeah, I was really hoping this would be like a $150 type of shaft. 3.5 bills is just way to much for a shaft IMO…Looks sweet though, kudos to Aldila.

Mitsubishi launches Diamana BB shaft

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

Mitsubishi has today launched the second in the latest generation of the brand’s Diamana Series , the smooth-feeling, mid-launching BB profile.

We originally spotted the BB at the U.S. Open in June  where Phil Mickelson was seen testing the shaft.

Like its lower-launching counterpart, WB , the Diamana BB features the latest proprietary material and structural technologies – including Consistent Feel Design for greater fitting efficacy and Xlink Tech Resin System in design to enhance structural strength – all wrapped in the flower and surf iconography synonymous with the brand since the original launch in 2004.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

As with all “blue” color-coded Mitsubishi shafts, Diamana BB – the ‘BB’ designation stands for “Blue Board” – is a mid-launch, mid-spin profile most suitable for golfers looking to increase the launch trajectory off the tee while also maximizing speed and distance.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

To ensure the “pure feel” distinction, Mitsubishi has utilized its proprietary Xlink Tech Resin System to increase overall strength and durability of the shaft while also driving carbon fiber volume up. That carbon fiber – both 80-ton Dialead pitch fiber in the handle and 46-ton throughout the angle plies – not only increases energy transfer, but also lowers torque for greater stability.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

“We are humbled by the level of excitement we’ve seen from consumers and industry partners alike for this new generation of Diamana. Though people do really love the new look, this new shaft series goes beyond just its retro cosmetic, said Mark Gunther, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing at Mitsubishi Chemical Sporting Goods Division. “Golfers who try DiamanaTM BB will immediately recognize the performance characteristics and feel so often associated with the Diamana Blue Board franchise. The Diamana brand originally started with a mid-launch blue board profile back in 2005 and we believe this new BB profile to be a worthy modern-day, successor.”

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

The all-new Diamana BB will be available for pre-order at select retailers beginning in mid-July and at authorized online retailers and club fitters worldwide beginning September 6, 2024 with an MSRP of $400.

Aldila Tour Blue – Aldila Tour Green Golf Shaft Review

Aldila tour blue and green driver shafts, measurments by russ ryden, a golf digest america’s 100 best clubfitter fit2score, dallas fort worth, texas, testing by john dranshak dead solid perfect golf clubs, columbus ohio.

The Aldila Tour Blue and Aldila Tour Green have now been with us for about a year and this review was first published last year. It has been updated with testing by John Dranshak, a club fitter that has been using 3 point EI profiles to guide his fitting process. These shafts are noted by Aldila as being made from ultra thin carbon fiber. This technology was first introduced in the Aldila NV and was unique in its day. Most premium shafts are now made with multiple layers of thin sheets. In my memory, Aldila pioneered this technique and a look at the radial consistency of these shafts shows what can now be accomplished in the mid price range ($250) of premium golf shafts. The shaft to shaft bend profile consistency of the Aldila Tour shafts is very good. You can be confident your shaft will be a very good match to the shaft you were fit with.

The new addition to the Fit2Score software renders simulated deflection under load and unload as it might happen during a golf swing. It is a very unique tool for understanding the performance of a golf shaft. The ability to model performance of a golf shaft is created by the 3 point bending shaft instrument used by reviewers on this site.

Aldila NV 2KXV Green Shaft Review

50 Words or Less

The Adila NV 2KXV Green is a low launching, low spinning shaft that delivers surprisingly smooth feel.  A worthy heir to the NV name.

Introduction

Newer golfers may find this hard to believe, but there was a time when high tech, expensive aftermarket shafts weren’t a big deal.  The original Aldila NV – in all its shiny green glory – was one of the first rock star shafts that made it cool to upgrade your graphite.  Now, many year later, Aldila has created the NV’s successor, the NV 2KXV Green.

The original NV was famous for being low launching and low spinning.  It was not famous for great feel.  The NV 2KXV Green , however, feels great .  The butt and mid sections load easily in transition and have a smooth kick through impact.

The other thing I like about the feel of the NV 2KXV Green is the balance.  The weight feels very evenly distributed throughout the shaft placing ample mass in your hands while maintaining good feel for the club head.

I will admit to being a bit disappointed that the Aldila NV 2KV Green went away from the original green-all-over look, but the new look is still pretty sharp.  The graphics borrow heavily from the Rogue with lots of 1s and 0s across the upper section.  With the exception of the green NV logo, the graphics are done in shades of grey, so they’re very low key.  One other thing that I only noticed when I put the shaft into play is that it actually has two different shades of black: matte black on the lower half and a gloss black on the upper.

Performance

One of the things I liked best about testing the Aldila NV 2KXV was that there was no adjustment period when I put it into my PING G driver .  The balance and feel were good, nothing extreme that required figuring out.  When it came to the ball flight, it was the same thing: I got exactly what I expected (and deserved) from the first swing.

The low launch, low spin performance that you would expect from the Aldila NV are here in the new version.  The ball flight was strong and controlled with low spin and lots of roll out.  The stiff tip also helped to minimize the right-to-left ball flight that I often fight.

In terms of performance, the new Aldila NV 2KXV Green delivers exactly what you would expect: a controlled, piercing ball flight.  What might surprise you, in a very good way, is the exceptionally smooth feel.  This is one of the rare shafts that actually does deliver the best of both worlds.  Check out your local Aldila fitter to give it a try.

Matt, How did the NV 2NVXV Green compare to the Tour Green? – I know that that was 3 years ago. Also you reviewed the Tour Green in 65g and the NV 2NVXV Green in 75g. Did you notice the weight difference?

' src=

As you say, the Tour Green review was 3 years ago, so I’m hesitant to make any definitive comparisons. My recollection is that they’re both in the same ball park – players who like one will like the other.

' src=

What swing speed do u need for this shaft to get mad performance? Thx

It’s just a matter of matching your speed, tempo, etc to the right flex and weight. That just requires working with a knowledgeable fitter.

' src=

How is this with the Cobra F8+ 3-4 fairway wood

I haven’t tested the F8+, so I can’t offer an educated comment. Sorry.

' src=

Hi all I have just fitted a NV 2KXV into my Titliest TS3 Driver 75G, also a 75G into my 917 Titliest 3 Wood and a 85G into my Hybrid and they are great !! Few years ago I had the earlier NV 75G in my Cleveland driver and I thought that was good the newer 2KXV shafts are something else. This Shaft is a Great product Aldila !!

' src=

Hey Matt, How would you say Aldila and Fujikura compare in terms of stiffness? Does S=S typically?

It depends a lot on the model. To me, Aldila shafts usually feel stiffer, less active, but there are exceptions.

' src=

Ive read that the Aldila nv 2kxv green is similar to the Fuji speeder evo I 661 and 665. Which are really easy to load shafts with stiff tips and low torque. But they are called medium launching by fujikura. They are also firm in the handle and medium middle and medium tip (as rates on Fuji’s site)

I swing my driver about 98-102 on average. I am not a high hitter of the ball but I get about perfect height with the speeder and I’ve gotten low flight with a red board diamana. I want something slightly stiffer than the 661 with less spin. Think I should try this.

I’m debating between getting the 65g or 75g for my driver in stiff green model.

The high torque on the Aldila scares me. The speeder seems like I can release it hard as I want and I never get wild directional problems. But I also don’t get big distance variability between an easy swing and stepping on it hard to get a little extra

Personally, I don’t think the NV is a good comp for the Speeder. If there’s something in your driver you’re unhappy with, I would strongly recommend working with a fitter to find a combination that will get you the performance you’re looking for.

Aldila NVS 65 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

You won’t see a lot pros game the Aldila Nvs 65 series of shafts but if you’re a mid or high handicapper, chances are you can benefit from it.

The Aldila NVS 65 is a graphite shaft that may help correct your slice. But when it comes to shafts, it’s all about the right fit.

If you are in the market for a new shaft for your driver or woods, we recommend seeing a trusty fitter. And if you are constantly sending your balls into the trees from the box, we recommend checking out the Aldila Nvs 65. In the following Aldila Nvs 65 review, we will tell you how it performs and what kind of player it would suit.

Aldila NVS 65 Shaft Overview

The whole point of the Aldila NVS 65 is to eliminate as much shaft variability as possible.

To achieve this, Aldila used incredibly thin layers of carbon fiber to stiffen up the profile while still maintaining a smooth feel. When we tested the Aldila NVS 65, we were taken aback at how stable and consistent it was. This is a pretty light shaft so we were expecting a lot of “give” and generally inconsistent performance.

But the Aldila NVS 65 has a surprisingly stout feel – not so much that it sends a shock up your arms but just enough to keep ball flight stable. It has a mid kick point and it loads up and releases nicely. Many of our testers were noticing faster club head speeds and improved smash factor when using the Aldila NVS 65.

While we’re not a huge fan of the colorful design, we acknowledge that this is a great shaft to use if you want to improve your swing speed and stay on the fairway.

Why is the Aldila NVS 65 Shaft So Popular?

The Aldila NVS 65 is heralded as one of the most popular aftermarket shafts in the industry – and we can see why.

It has the ability to help mid and high handicappers hit longer from the box. Another comment that one of our testers made was that the Aldila NVS 65 made him feel more confident from the tee. It’s a perfect pairing for beefier game improvement drivers which is probably why so many everyday golfers like it.

How Does the Aldila NVS 65 Perform?

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

Right away, the Aldila NVS 65 feels good in the hands.

It’s got a slightly slim profile which makes it feel very manageable (that’s probably why our testers felt more confident using this shaft). While we’re not fans of the color scheme, we can imagine a world where it actually serves as a visual cue on your downswing. We used the Aldila NVS 65 in stiff flex and it performed great from the tee.

It’s a distance machine so many of our testers were seeing 5-8 yard increases in their drive distance. You can feel it load up and release all the way through contact. So a lot of energy is transferred to the ball. And the Aldila NVS 65 is amazingly straight. Many of our testers who struggle with a slice were blown away at how easy it was to stay on the fairway. Even tight fairways weren’t much of a problem for the Aldila NVS 65.

We would recommend the Aldila NVS 65 in stiff flex to almost anyone because the shaft itself is so light. The Aldila NVS 65 also performs well with heavier drivers and wood heads.

Aldila NVS 65 Shaft Specs

What flexes are available what swing speeds do they suit.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

You can get the Aldila NVS 65 in stiff and regular flex.

If you have a swing speed of 80 MPH or higher, we highly recommend the stiff flex. Fast swingers will likely find the regular flex version too noodly. The regular flex version would only be useful for new players or players with low swing speeds (under 80 MPH)..

What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?

The Aldila NVS 65 comes in 68 and 67 gram versions.

Again, the 68 gram version would be a good fit for almost any mid or high handicap player. The 67 gram version would only be beneficial if your swing speed is in the 70 MPH range.

Why is it So Good?

We really liked the fact that the Aldila NVS 65 is so light and workable without being erratic.

True, extreme mis-hits will still cause you to shank even with this shaft; but in general, the Aldila NVS 65 will help increase your accuracy from the box.

Aldila NVS 65 First Impressions

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

At first, we were impressed with how the Aldila NVS 65 feels in the hands.

You really get the sense that you can take a full swing with this shaft and send the ball flying. It does encourage you to swing outside yourself a bit because of how light it feels; but if you practice just a bit of self control, the Aldila NVS 65 will serve you well.

Key Features & Performance

The Aldila NVS 65 utilizes Micro Laminate Technology which is essentially ultra-thin layers of carbon fiber to eliminate dead zones.

Indeed, the Aldila NVS 65 feels active; but not erratic.

Aldila NVS 65 Driver Review

This is a great shaft to pair with your 460cc game improvement driver. It will definitely  increase distance.

Aldila NVS 65 Fairway Review

The Aldila NVS 65 is also great for fairway woods because it will help increase your accuracy from tight lies.

Aldila NVS 65 Pros & Cons

  • Lightweight
  • Launches high
  • Great for beginners
  • High spin rates
  • Unfortunate color scheme

Table of Contents

Aldila NV Shaft Release Date

The Aldila NV Shaft was released in 2003. This was the original Aldila NV Shaft and it has since been updated. The graphite golf shaft was hyped as one of the best golf shafts on the market in the early 2000s when it came out.

Since then, the company has taken the time to upgrade the aesthetics of this golf shaft, which has made it increasingly popular.

This is a gorgeous design that has appealed to golfers of all ages. The visual green is a joy to behold and does stand out for all the right reasons.

Aldila NV Shaft Specs Chart

For the most part, when looking at the Aldila NV Shaft specs, you will realize it is easy to play with, offers good control, and is going to be weighted properly. This makes it simpler to handle in different conditions.

This chart includes the Aldila NV 55 driver specs, Aldila NV 65 driver specs, and Aldila NV 75 driver specs allowing you to easily compare them against each other.

Key Features Of The Aldila NV Shaft

1. micro laminate technology.

As you go through this Aldila NV Green Driver Shaft review, it’s easy to appreciate one of the main features of the Aldila NV Shaft.

This would come in the form of its micro laminate technology.

The premise behind this technology is to help the golf shaft maintain its consistency. Standard golf shafts don’t have this type of construction, which leaves gaps that are difficult to manage when a mistake is made with a shot.

By using this type of material, the company has done a good job of fine-tuning the golf shaft and making it easier to play with.

2. Aerospace-Grade Prepreg

When going through a review of the Aldila NV Shaft, it’s important to appreciate its aerospace-grade prepreg.

This is designed to help amplify every inch of the golf shaft.

Most golfers are going to be looking at the weight of the golf shaft and want to make sure it’s easy to manage. However, it is also important to ensure there are no gaps in the construction as that leads to unwanted results on the golf course.

With this type of build, you are going to get to enjoy a robust golf shaft that is ideal for all situations.

3. Bright and Colorful Design

When looking at the Aldila NV Green Shaft review, it’s important to focus on the beauty of this design and how appealing it is.

This goes for all of the colorful designs in this gorgeous lineup of golf shafts.

With the Aldila NV Green 55 review or any of the other shaft variations, you will appreciate the aesthetics immediately.

This is a driver shaft that is far more colorful and youthful making it ideal for different ages.

Pros Of The Aldila NV Shaft

With the Aldila NXT GEN NV shaft, it’s important to look at stability.

This is one of the most stable golf shafts on the market and it has been tested aggressively to make sure that is the case.

A lot of golfers struggle with instability. This leads to the golf ball veering to the side due to how the weight distribution is set up with the golf shaft’s construction.

With this particular golf shaft, this is not going to be an issue.

The stability is perfect making it ideal to use. This is a graphite wood shaft that is made with a purpose and that is what matters most.

aldila nv shaft review

2. Accurate

When it comes to the Aldila NXT GEN NV graphite wood shaft, you will want to also take the time to assess its accuracy.

A golf shaft that is inaccurate is not going to be ideal.

There is more forgiveness with this golf shaft and that is ideal over the long term. A golf driver shaft that does not offer this type of accuracy is going to let you down when you need it the most.

The brand has done a good job building a solution that is ideal for the long haul.

3. Good Weight Distribution

As you go through this Aldila NV wood shaft review, you will also appreciate the weight distribution.

To appreciate this more, you will want to hold the golf shaft in your hands for a bit. It is noticeable.

The way it has been constructed, the company has taken the best material and made it as lightweight as possible. This includes how the weight is distributed from the top to the tip.

It makes a legitimate difference in how your golf swing feels as soon as you hit a golf ball. The speed of your golf swing is going to get better with the help of this golf driver shaft.

4. Easy To Play With

Aldila golf shafts are appreciated because they are made with the golfer in mind.

This is seen in how they have improved and overhauled the design to make it more appealing. It is not just the colors of the golf driver shaft that are going to catch your eye but also how the golf shaft feels in your hands.

It is easy to play with.

This means you are going to take it to the golf course and feel in control. For a lot of golfers, this is what makes a real difference and elevates this shaft.

Cons Of The Aldila NV Shaft

1. doesn’t elevate as much as other shafts.

When you are looking at the loft angle of a golf shaft, you will want to understand this is not designed to elevate the golf ball as much as other shafts.

This includes the Aldila NVS golf shaft.

This is a lower golf shaft that is going to help keep a reduced loft on the golf ball. For some golfers, this is what they want and that is when you are going to appreciate the Aldila NV shaft as soon as it is played with.

aldila nv shaft review

Should You Buy The Aldila NV Shaft?

You should buy the Aldila NV Shaft, if your main goal is to have a robust golf shaft that is going to offer comprehensive control. This means not getting as much elevation or spin, but knowing the golf ball is going to be hit straight.

This is going to come down to what you want as a golfer.

Golfing with the Aldila NV Shaft is a great option and it will work for most golfers.

What Is The Difference Between NV and NVS Shaft?

The NV Shaft has a lower launch and reduced spin rate in comparison to the Aldila NVS shaft. For players that want to keep a more controlled shot, it is better to go with the Aldila NV Shaft. For those who want more flight, it is better to go with the Aldila NV Shaft.

This is key when looking at the distance of a golf shaft .

Where Are Aldila Shafts Made?

The Aldila shafts are made in three different countries. These countries are the United States, China, and Vietnam. It’s also important to note the prepreg is managed in Poway, California.

Amazon ratings

The Aldila NV 65 Shaft has a great rating on Amazon, with many golfers noting its exceptional power and stability. It is a favorite among professionals, who find that its unique combination of features helps them make accurate drives even when they’re facing difficult conditions.

Many golfers also point out that the Aldila NV 65 Shaft is a great value for money. The shaft is highly durable, meaning it will last a long time even with regular use. Not only that, but the shaft has a relatively low price tag compared to other graphite shafts, making it a great choice for budget-conscious golfers.

The Aldila NV 65 Shaft isn’t without its critics, however. Some have noted that it can take a bit of time to get used to the flex of the shaft and adjust one’s swing accordingly. Other golfers complain about a lack of consistency in the shaft’s performance – some days it may perform exceptionally well, while other days it may not be as powerful or stable as expected.

Overall, the vast majority of reviews for the Aldila NV 65 Shaft are positive and it is easy to see why this graphite shaft is popular among pros and amateurs alike. Its unique combination of power and stability allows players to make accurate long drives even in difficult conditions, helping them improve their game significantly. Alternatives

Alternatives to the Aldila NV 65 Shaft include the Mizuno JPX EZ shaft, the Callaway RAZR Hawk Fubuki 60 shaft, and the Ping Tour-S Graphite shaft. While each of these shafts provides a unique combination of power and stability, their properties vary depending on a golfer’s swing.

The Mizuno JPX EZ shaft is a lightweight option that features a stiff tip section and a softer midsection. This helps golfers achieve a higher launch angle with increased spin rates for greater distance. Its unique design also ensures that a golfer won’t sacrifice accuracy or trajectory in order to get extra power.

aldila tour green 65 shaft review

The Callaway RAZR Hawk Fubuki 60 is a great all-round shaft that provides a good mix of stability and control. It has a higher kick point than some other graphite options which means it allows players to generate more clubhead speed while still keeping shots straight down the fairway. It also offers an impressive combination of power and feel when hitting shots from various lies.

Finally, the Ping Tour-S Graphite shaft is designed to provide a smooth transition between backswing and downswing for improved consistency across all clubs in a golfer’s bag. Its low kick point makes it perfect for those looking for maximum ball speed off their driver without sacrificing accuracy. Additionally, its counterbalance technology helps reduce vibration during impact for improved comfort at address as well as better feel on off-center hits.

Each of these three alternatives offer their own unique benefits which can help golfers improve their game regardless of their level of experience or budget constraints. The Aldila NV 65 Shaft is still a popular choice among professionals and amateurs alike, but all three of these options provide quality graphite shafts with outstanding performance features that can help improve any golfer’s game significantly!

The Aldila NV 65 Shaft is a great choice for golfers looking to improve their game without breaking the bank.

Its combination of power and stability, as well as its affordability, make it a popular option among pros and amateurs alike.

However, there are also a few alternatives that offer different features which may be more suitable depending on a golfer’s swing type or budget constraints.

Ultimately, regardless of which shaft you choose, a little practice will go a long way in helping you get the most out of your equipment!

Aldilla RIP'd NV 65

GolfSpy WD

By GolfSpy WD March 9, 2012 in General Equipment Talk

Recommended Posts

Description:

The new RIP'd NV incorporates the best performance attributes from two of Aldila's most innovative shaft designs. The ‘perfect feel' and slim stable shaft profile of the Aldila NV and the unprecedented control and accuracy of the Aldila RIP. The Aldila NV with Micro Laminate Technology is the most popular aftermarket shaft in history. The revolutionary RIP Technology of the Aldila RIP has made it the hottest shaft model on the PGA Tour. The RIP'd NV is not just long, its longer - not just straight, its straighter.

Can anyone translate this into english for me? What does the Micro Laminate Technology and RIP technology claim to do? It sounds like the RIP technology is meant to lower torque and remove ovalling, but the Micro Laminate description is vague at best.

I just passed your question along to our contact at Aldila. I'll let you know what/when we hear back.

And here's what Aldila says:

Micro Laminate design is made with multiple layers of graphite. Roughly 15 - 20 layers. It gives a slimmer look, and provides a unique feel. The RIP technology, provides better tip stability. What we did, was take some of the angle ply's from inside the shaft, and moved them to the outside.

Thanks Tony. I asked because the Maltby BM3 driver and fairways were just released. I'm very tempted to bring them to my fitting later this month. The BM3 driver though is offered in a "club pak" including either a RIP Beta or RIP'd NV shaft for $209, which is practically the cost of the shaft only. The NV sounds really good and I figure even if it doesn't fit me, I could sell it off on ebay.

Fubuki AX hybrid? Never tried the fubuki myself but based on my understanding that's a mid/high launch profiled shaft. The aldila green would be almost the opposite - low launch, pretty tip stiff shaft. For those that want/need that type of shaft it's a very good one though. You might be better of with the tour blue.
Thanks
No problem - just take it with a grain of salt as w/o having any real experience with the fubuki, I could be mistaken. In any case, no reason not to demo one and make up your own mind.

I do not have experience with the Fubuki hybrid shaft, but I did hit the X2Hot 18* with tour green shaft. I liked it a lot better than the Project X Velocity shaft. I always fought a hook with the PX. I was hitting baby fades with the tour green, but I could turn it over if I wanted to.

smooth feeling? How about flight? Thanks

Fubuki ax is mid to higher launch and smooth. Tour green is like the old Aldila NV.. Low launch and tip stiff. A lot of tour pros kept the NV in their hybrids, very well liked shaft. If you want a higher Ball flight then try the tour blue, replacement for the VS proto. Hope this helps

I currently play the NV Hybrid, and I tired the Tour Green in the X2Hot Pro hybrid. If I was ready going to go that way, I would put the Green in the regular X2Hot head. The pro in the hybrid was just to much work for me. More work then a GI/driving iron to be honest. Good flight when I hit it correctly, but just not consistent enough. I have a Fubuki in my driver, and if the AX plays anything like that, you are talking night and day with the green in feel, flight, and spin.

  3. Review: Aldila Tour Blue and Tour Green shafts

The Tour Green has a stiffer tip section than the Tour Blue, making it launch lower and spin significantly less (about 500-to-700 rpm less on average for me). For that reason, it makes sense as a driver shaft, or as a fairway wood shaft for golfers who struggle to control spin with their fairway woods. It was also a major improvement of Aldila ...

  4. Aldila Tour Blue And Green Shafts

The Green is lower flight, but oh so long. The feel was just a hair tighter than the Blue, but still really smooth. As I brought the launch down a couple degrees I also dropped the spin which really helped me gain length and accuracy. As you can see from the charts below, the green shaft was a better fit for my swing.

  5. Tell me about this shaft

Total Rating 100%. Posted July 12, 2016. 65 is not exactly the weight. It varies based on flex and the stiff is 67 gm (uncut). For most, the shaft weight is one of the more important fitting specs for the shaft. It can potentially have a big impact on many aspects of the swing itself such as rhythm, tempo, grip pressure, release timing, swing ...

  6. Aldila ATX Tour Green Wood Shaft Review

Aldila recently released their ATX Tour Green and Tour Blue wood shafts to the marketplace after extensive tour testing in 2013. The Tour Green is the lower launching of the two shafts. 7. Aldila NV Green Shaft Review

The Aldila NV Green is offered in 55g, 65g, 75g and 85g weight classes. The 55g weight class is for sub 70 MPH swingers. The 65g weight class would work for 71-80 MPH swingers. The 75g weight class is good for 81-90 MPH swingers and the 85g weight class may be suitable for 91-100 MPH swingers.

  8. Aldila 'Tour Blue' and 'Tour Green' shafts

With the circuitboard look we're saying, 'Hey, there is technology in this.'". The Tour Blue and Tour Green shafts will be released on Sept. 15 and carry an MSRP of $349. 9. Aldila Tour Blue

The Aldila Tour Blue is an impressive classical design, soft mid in relation to tip and butt. Outstanding radial consistency, average 99.3% with a 0.5% standard deviation. This shaft is available as an option from most club companies. The technical discussion and measurements are available only to registered readers.

  10. Aldila NV 2KXV Green Shaft Review

The NV 2KXV Green, however, feels great . The butt and mid sections load easily in transition and have a smooth kick through impact. The other thing I like about the feel of the NV 2KXV Green is the balance. The weight feels very evenly distributed throughout the shaft placing ample mass in your hands while maintaining good feel for the club head.

Handicap. 2.8. May 8, 2019. #20. I still have my Ping G2 from 16 years ago with the original Aldila NV "green" shaft.
