• Sightseeing

From NJP or Bagdogra Airport, you will be received by our representative. Our car will be ready outside to pick you up. You will have a journey of 4 hours and the distance you will cover is around 120 Km. On the route to Gangtok, stop for lunch. When you arrive, check into the hotel. Take a stroll down the lovely M G Marg, where you’ll find bright souvenir shops, cafes, diners, and other shops. While meandering along M G Marg, you will get a better look at Sikkim’s indigenous cultures, colorful traditions, and local foods. Dinner in the evening and then night stay.

We will arrange your transfer to Lachen today after having your breakfast in Gangtok. On the way to Lachen, you will be stopping at Singhik View Point which is famous for offering the tantalizing view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Siniolchu (22598 ft), stop here on your way to Lachen. Next, you will be stopping for a while at Seven Sisters Waterfalls. From here, enjoy the view of falling water. You’ll pass via Chungthang, a picturesque town on the banks of Lachung Chhu, on your journey. The Teesta River is formed when Chungthang Lachung Chhu and Lachen Chhu meet. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava sanctified this location and left his handprints and footprints on a rock here. Make your way to the hotel and once you reach, have a rest. Dinner in the evening and then night stay.

On day 3 in this Gangtok Lachen Lachung Yumthang Valley Tour Package, early in the morning, you will start your Gurudongmar Lake visiting journey. From Lachen, it is approximately 3 hours driving distance away. Situated at an elevation of 17800 feet above sea level, there are many legends revolving around the lake. According to legends in the 8th Century, Guru Padmasambhava visited this lake, after him, the lake was named. It is also believed that in the 15th century Guru Nanak also visited this place. Return to Lachen after being enchanted by the magnificence of this gorgeous lake.

Following lunch, check out of your hotel and proceed to Lachen Monastery, where you’ll begin your journey to Lachung via Chungthang. The distance is approximately 47 kilometres, however, that may take 3 hours to travel due to the possibility of stopping at a few locations for photography. The Bhim Nala Waterfall is located on the road to Lachung. Lachung is a peaceful little town in North Sikkim with a breathtaking vista of snow-capped mountains, vivid rhododendron valleys, and lush green yak pastures. You will be spending the night at Lachung after dinner.

Early in the morning, you will be driven to Yumthang Valley popularly known as the Valley of Flowers after breakfast at Lachung. It will be a journey of about one hour. You’ll pass through the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary on your route to Yumthang Valley. The ideal time to visit this sanctuary would be between April and June, when the rhododendrons are in full bloom and the sanctuary becomes a riot of colours. Yumthang is shrouded in white snow in the winter, revealing the vista of snow-capped mountains, adding to the ethereal grandeur of the location. Don’t forget to stop by the famed hot spring noted for its healing effects on your return journey from Yumthang. After checking out of your hotel and before departing for Gangtok, pay a visit to Lachung Monastery. Stay in Gangtok for the night after being served your dinner.

After having breakfast check out from your hotel and it will be a love day to explore Gangtok’s attractions. Pay a visit to Banjhakhri Falls and Energy Park first. Next, you will be hitting Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which is a popular institute doing research on Tibetan language and culture.

Day 01 : gangtok to lachung (124 km./ 5 hrs / alt-8600ft.).

Welcome to  Lachung Yumthang Tour.  In the morning drive to Lachung. Enroute you will visit Kabi Lungchok, Namok, Mangan, Singhik view point, Seven Sisters Water Falls, Naga Water Falls, Chungthang & numerous other water false & mountain streams.

Day 02 : Excursion to Yumthang (24 km./ Alt.- 11,800ft.)

Full day excursion to Yumthang Valley .  The valley is covered with snow during January to March & with rhododendrons during April & May. Enroute visit Sulphur Hot Spring having medicinal values. Lunch at hotel in Lachung. After lunch visit Handicraft Centre & Lachung Monastery.

Day 03: Lachung to Gangtok (5hrs)

• Foreigners need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit North Sikkim. They can can obtain the same in Gangtok. All the guests must carry 2 copies passport size recent colour photographs, Passport & copy of Restricted Area Permit (RAP).

• Transportation will be provided as per itinerary only (not at disposal). Any additional transport service will be on extra cost.

Yumthang Valley

Best time to visit | temperature weather/ climate , winter (mid december to february).

These are the coolest months. The temperature may fall as low as -20 o C. During winter there will be heavy snowfall as the in January & February temperature ranges from -15 o C to -5 o C. This is a the best tome time to visit Yumthang valley for those want to experience extreme cold & heavy snowfall. But Snowfall will increase the risk of road blocks.

Spring (March to April)

This is the flowering season in Sikkim. North Sikkim is the place where you can see various types of orchids, rhododendrons & numerous other colourful flowers. The entire valley will be covered with flowers. It is also known as flower valley of Sikkim. So March to April will be the  best time to visit Yumthang Valley  for those who are fond of colourful flowers.  Temperature in March & April ranges from -10 o C to 5 o C. So you have a chance to get good volume of snowfall along with the colourful flowers.

Summer (May to Jun)

Summer is not at all hot in Yumthang Valley. In May temperature ranges from 0 o C to 8 o C. May is the time for various flowers. But this is the season when it’s start raining in the region.

Monsoon (July to mid September)

Sikkim gets maximum rainfall from July to mid September. Temperature ranges from 5 o C to 15 o C. North Sikkim is a landslide prone area. Heavy rain increases the risk of landslide. So it’s better not to plan your Yumthang Valley trip during monsoon.

Autumn (October to December)

October to December is a best time to visit Yumthang Valley. Just after the monsoon you will get a clear sky along with a moderate temperature. November is the month when the temperature starts falling & the valley gets occasional snow fall. Temperature in November ranges from -5 o C to 6 o C. You can view a partially frozen lake. As the temperature is bearable with clear weather November is considered the best time to visit the valley. December will be a colder. The minimum temperature in December may fall up to -12 o C.

How to reach Yumthang Valley from Gangtok

Tour to Yumthang Valley starts from Gangtok. Gangtok to Yumthang Valley is 130 km (9-10 hrs). You cannot reach the valley in a single day. The nearest accommodation available is in Lachung, 105 km (6 hrs) from Gangtok. You need to start early in the morning (at 7 or 8 am) from Lachung. Lachung to Yumthang Valley is 27 km, approx 1.30 hours journey.

Day 01: Siliguri/Bagdogra to Darjeeling via Mirik (104 Km / approx 3.30 hrs)

Welcome to ‘Darjeeling Lachung Yumthang Tour’ . On arrival at the Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri railway station (own cost), you will be transferred to Darjeeling. Enroute you will visit Mirik Lake, an ideal place for boating where on arrival you will check into your hotel.

Day 02: Darjeeling sight seeing

Early morning (around 4.00 am), you will drive to Tiger Hill to enjoy the magnificent view of sunrise and the effect of sun light over the Eastern Himalayan peaks like Mt. Kanchendzonga (28,208 ft), Kabru, Pandim etc (subject to clear weather conditions). On return to your hotel visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop.

After breakfast there will be Darjeeling city tour including HMI & Darjeeling Zoo (Thursday closed), tea garden, Tenzing Rock Tibetan Self Help Refugee Centre (Sunday Closed), Rangeet Valley Passerger Ropeway etc.

Day 03: Darjeeling to Gangtok (120 km / 4 hrs.)

Today you will proceed on a picturesque drive to Gangtok. En route visit Peshok view point- the confluence of river Tista & Rangit. Check into your hotel in Gangtok. The rest of the afternoon is free.

Day 04: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

Early in the morning (7.30 am) drive for an excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir. Enjoy yak ride around the lake (own cost). Lunch in hotel. Evening free for shopping in famous MG Road/ Lal Market in Gangtok.

Day 05: North Sikkim- Gangtok to Lachen (120 kms./6 hrs.) After breakfast drive from Gangtok to Lachen (9,000 ft.). Enroute visit Tashi View Point, Kabi Lungchok, Phodong, Namok, mangan, Singhik, Chungthang, Lachung Valley. Reach Lachung in the afternoon.

Day 06: North Sikkim- Excurtion to Yumthang Valley (24 kms./2 hrs.) After breakfast excurtion to Yumthang Valley (11,800 ft.). Rhododendrons, Orchids & varieties of flora & fauna are found during spring in the month of April & May. Yumthang is the summer grazing ground of the yaks. On the way back visit Sulpher Hot Spring, having medicinal values.

Day 07: North Sikkim- Lachung to Gangtok (125 km./ 5 hrs) After breakfast transfer from Lachung to Gangtok. Enroute magnificent views high mountains of North Sikkim & water falls. Drop at your respective hotel in Gangtok. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 08: Gangtok to NJP/IXB (135 km. / 4 hrs.)

Drive back to Bagdogra Airport/ New Jalpaiguri railway station for your return journey. ‘ Darjeeling Lachung Yumthang Tour’ ends.

5 Days Sikkim Tour Itinerary

Day 1 transfer to gangtok.

On arrival at NJP/Bagdogra Airport you will be greeted by our officials and then transferred to your hotel in Gangtok. With an approx distance of 120km it is an overall 4hrs drive from NJP/Bagdogra to Gangtok. Gangtok is a beautiful hill town and the capital of north-eastern state of Sikkim. Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, the city became capital of an independent monarchy after British rule ended, but joined India in 1975. The journey towards this beautiful town is filled with the mesmerizing view of alpine trees and lofty hills. Have your lunch on the way to Gangtok. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the day to stroll around MG Marg. Jotted with colorful souvenir shops, cafes and places to eat, a visit to this road will get you closer to the indigenous cultures, colorful traditions and the local delicacies of Sikkim. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 2 TRANSFER TO LACHEN

Wake up early and after breakfast checkout from the hotel and start your journey towards your hotel in Lachen. It is an overall 6hrs journey from Gangtok with an approx distance of 110km to reach Lachen. Lachen is a small Himalayan hamlet perched at an altitude of 2750mt. On the way to Lachen you will come across some of the most amazing destination like Singhik View Point famous for offering the most magnificent view of Mt. Khangchendzonga and Mt. Siniolchu, Seven Sisters Waterfalls where you can beckon the surreal beauty of cascading water, and Chungthang a pictorial place which is known to be blessed by Guru Padmasambava, the patron saint of Sikkim. Here you will find a rock which till day bears the hand and footprints of Padmasambava. Have lunch on the way to Lachen. After 6hrs journey, you will reach Lachen. Check into your hotel and freshen up. Rest of the evening you are free to relax and enjoy the scenic landscape of Lachen. Overnight stay at Lachen.

Day 3 VISIT TO GURUDONGMAR LAKE & TRANSFER TO LACHUNG

Have an early morning breakfast and drive to Gurudongmar Lake. With an approx distance of 66km it is an overall 3hrs journey towards this beautiful Gurudongmar Lake from Lachen. This glacial lake is the major source of River Teesta. Gurudongmar is one of the highest lakes in the world and believed to be blessed by Guru Padmasambava but due to high altitude breathing problems may arise so you need to be careful. Sited on the foothill of snow capped mountain, Gurudongmar Lake has left many travelers enthralled with its ethereal beauty. After soaking yourself in the beauty of this majestic lake return to your hotel. After lunch, visit Lachen Monastery and check out from your hotel to start your journey to your hotel in Lachung via Chungthang. It is an overall 2½hrs drive from Lachen with an approx distance of 46km to reach Lachung. Lachung is another quaint hamlet in North Sikkim. On the way to Lachung you can visit the Bhim Nala Waterfalls. The 2½hrs drive to Lachung is filled the amazing sights. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to relax and enjoy the majestic view of snow peaked mountains, vibrant rhododendron valley, and lush green yak pastures surrounding Lachung. Day 4 VISIT TO YUMTHANG VALLEY & TRANSFER TO GANGTOK

After an early breakfast we will drive you to Yumthang Valley famously known as the Valley of Flowers. It is an hour drive from Lachung. Yumthang valley is situated at an altitude of nearly 11800 feet with the river Lachung Chu flowing through the valley. On your way to Yumthang Valley, you will be driving across the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary which has more than 120 species of Rhododendron trees and is also the home to the endemic Rhododendron Niveum, the State Tree of Sikkim. In the winter, Yumthang is hidden beneath the blanket of White Snow and showcases the view of snow clad mountains which add to the ethereal beauty of this place. Apart from winter season, in Yumthang Valley you can witness the amazing vista of diverse Himalayan Flora which is sure to leave you wanting for more. While returning from Yumthang you may visit the famous hot spring known for its curative properties. Visit Lachung Monastery once you reach your hotel. After lunch check out from your hotel and start your 6hrs journey towards your hotel in Gangtok. The scenic view of changing vegetation on the way to Gangtok is going to woo your mind. You will reach Gangtok after covering an approx distance of 110km. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to relax or take a stroll in the MG Marg. Day 5 HALF DAY GANGTOK SIGHTSEEING & DROP TO NJP/BAGDOGRA

After an early morning breakfast, check out from your hotel and start your half-day sightseeing in Gangtok. Visit as many of the following places - Flower Show, Hanuman Tok another viewpoint in Gangtok is a temple of Lord Hanuman. Rope Way is one of the greatest attractions in Gangtok and should not be missed. It's a double-cable zig back ropeway that is operational since December 2003. Each cable car can carry up to 24 passengers, Shanti - Tashi View Point and Ganesh Tok. Have some refreshments on the way to NJP/Bagdogra. After you reach NJP/Bagdogra your 4 Nights and 5Days North Sikkim and Gangtok Tour Package will come to an end.
