bush and live tour 2019

The ’90s are over, long live the ’90s. On Tuesday, two ’90s alt-rock bands — Bush and Live — announced that they would be embarking on a joint tour this summer. It’s a big year for both of them, because they both released landmark albums in 1994: Live’s Throwing Copper and Bush’s Sixteen Stone . This tour will act as a 25th anniversary celebration for both of them.

“We are thrilled to be touring this summer with Live,” Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale said in a statement. “The wealth and depth of songs from both bands should provide a great night of music. Looking forward to seeing you all this summer.”

“Bush is a great band and Gavin is a super passionate singer and performer. I’m really looking forward to spending the summer with them,” Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk added. “I know the fans are going to get one hell of a show.”

Tickets go on sale March 15, but Citi card members have access to presale tickets from March 12-14.

Live, Bush Plot Joint 25th Anniversary Tour

By Ryan Reed

Live and Bush , two alumni of the Nineties alt-rock boom, announced a joint summer tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their respective signature albums: the former’s Throwing Copper and the latter’s Sixteen Stone . The trek launches June 6th at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT and wraps September 8th in Rochester, MI’s Meadow Brook Amphitheatre.

Tickets go on sale on March 15th , with presale tickets available to Citi card members via Citi’s Private Pass program beginning on March 12th at 10 a.m. local time through March 14th at 10 p.m. Artist presales are also available now through March 14th at 10 p.m. local time via Bush’s website as well as Live’s website .

“We are super excited to get back out on the road this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Throwing Copper ,” said Live’s Ed Kowalczyk of their second LP. “It feels like the planets are aligning in a really magical way for us lately. Our reunion is now a few years old, and with every concert, we feel like we are breaking into new levels of power and confidence onstage. I can truly say that LIVE is better than ever, and it’s all coming together just in time for this special anniversary in our career.”

The singer added that Live “jumped at the chance” to tour with Bush. “ Having had both our bands’ respective breakthrough albums released in 1994, there’s a kind of kinship there in our collective experience that I think is really cool and unique,” he said. “I had a chance to reconnect with Gavin and Bush at a show we recently played together in Mexico, and I was blown away by their performance. As we watched Bush from the side of the stage, I leaned over to Chad Taylor and yelled in his ear, ‘This summer is gonna fuckin’ rock!'”

Looking forward to seeing you all this summer … Sixteen Stone  propelled us onto the musical landscape. Those songs have found a way into the soundtrack of people’s lives and that is the highest compliment available. We’ve continued to make music that resonates with people.”

ABOUT BUSH: With a discography that includes such monumental rock albums as 1994’s 6x platinum-selling SIXTEEN STONE , ’96’s triple-platinum-selling RAZORBLADE SUITCASE and ’99’s platinum-selling THE SCIENCE OF THINGS , BUSH has sold close to 20 million records in the U.S. and Canada alone. They’ve also compiled an amazing string of 18 consecutive Top 40 hit singles on the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts. Eleven of those hit the Top 5, six of which shot to No. 1: "Comedown," "Glycerine," "Machinehead," "Swallowed," "The Chemicals Between Us" and "The Sound of Winter." The latter made rock radio history as the first self-released song ever to hit No. 1 at Alternative Radio, where it spent 6 weeks perched atop the chart’s top spot. The song appeared on 2011’s "comeback album," THE SEA OF MEMORIES , which was BUSH’s first studio album in ten years.   That year Billboard  ran a story about the band under the headline, "Like They Never Left" – a fitting title as the multi-platinum quartet (vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Gavin Rossdale , guitarist Chris Traynor , drummer Robin Goodridge and bassist Corey Britz ) promptly picked up where they left off.  They’ve continued to dominate rock radio and play sold-out shows to audiences around the world ever since. The band is currently working on the follow-up to 2017’s Black And White Rainbows , which People magazine hailed as "a triumphant return."

ABOUT +LIVE+: +LIVE+, the multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania–Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion)–have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned two number one albums ( Throwing Copper , Secret Samadhi ). Their catalog is filled with such gems as "Lightning Crashes," "I Alone," "All Over You," and "Lakini’s Juice," which live on today as classics at rock radio. Throwing Copper —which is being celebrated in 2019 with a new deluxe 25 th anniversary edition via Radioactive/Geffen/Ume–produced the band’s biggest single, "Lightning Crashes," which was #1 at Modern Rock radio for 10 consecutive weeks. Throwing Copper reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually surpassed sales of 10 million albums sold with Rolling Stone honoring the album with placement on their list, "1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative’s Greatest Year." Secret Samadhi (1997) immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually went double platinum. The release of the platinum-selling The Distance to Here (1999) turned +LIVE+ into an international powerhouse and moved the band from arenas into stadiums. +LIVE+ has been and remains today a global concert juggernaut. The band released an acclaimed five-song EP in 2018,   LOCAL 717 ,  their first new music in over a decade.

British grunge, hard rock band Bush and American alternative rock giants Live joined forces for co-headline summer tour called Alt-Imate, in order to celebrate 25th anniversary of their respective groundbreaking albums, Sixteen Stone by Bush and Throwing Copper by Live. Both bands have proven to be mainstays in their respective genre, and Bush is going through their revival, regaining old glory after almost a decade off the music scene.

Right now Bush is working on their new album set to be released sometime in the Fall of 2019 and will be called The Mind Plays Tricks On You. The album is told to be much heavier than previous ones and have already released first single called Bullet Holes, which is featured in the new Keanu Reeves action movie John Wick 3 and is included in the current tour setlist.

Besides vocalist Gavin Rossdale, Bush have only one more original member left – Robin Goodridge on drums. On bass is Corey Britz and on guitar Chris Traynor, they have all been together since reuniting in 2010. Fittingly their setlist has a heavy rotation of tracks from the debut album Sixteen Stone, opening the set with Machinehead, and wrapping up with three straight – Little Things, Glycerine and Comedown, with Everything Zen in the middle of the set.

During Little Things Gavin left the stage to make a prolonged tour through the seating sections to meet fans and sing the song together with them. There were kisses and hugs, and a nightmare for security guards. Venue was packed, and with capacity for 17 thousand people it took about ten minutes for Gavin to get back on stage.

From older songs, the band played Swallowed, The Chemicals Between Us and The Disease Of The Dying Cats. From the revival era there were only three songs, besides Bullet Holes, Bush played This Is War and The Sound Of Winter. It was classic Bush performance, engaging, spectacular and with some good old grunge elements of Gavin playing guitar in all the awkward positions he could imagine.

Things got more serious when it was New Jersey neighboring state of Pennsylvania alternate rock band Live came on stage. They opened with The Dam at Otter Creek, All Over You and Selling The Drama, all three songs from the celebrated Throwing Copper album. Ed Kowalczyk showed all his many talents during that span, singing, playing guitar, drums and acoustic guitar. All together they played eight songs from the anniversary album including the first three, Shit Towne, Iris, I Alone, White Discussion and to end the show with Lightning Crashes.

The band had all original members on the stage. Besides Ed there was Chad Gracey on drums, Patrick Dahlheimer on bass and Chad Taylor on guitar. Despite Live embarking on a two year hiatus and split from Ed for another five years until 2017, they were playing as a very close knit group, showing no signs of those times.

Live also played two covers, R.E.M. Losing My Religion and The Rolling Stones Paint It Black. Other notable song played during the set were Lakini’s Juice. The tour continues until the beginning of  September, so if you are lucky enough living near the city they will play, you must go, this is a must see show.

Live and Bush The Alt-imate Tour

March 5, 2019 by Jarrod Vrazel

live bush tour 2019

Live and Bush are joining forces for The Alt-imate Tour , a high-powered co-headline summer run that will see these two iconic acts celebrating the 25th anniversary of their respective landmark albums Throwing Copper  and Sixteen Stone .  Also featuring special guest Our Lady Peace, the tour will hit 33 cities across the country, kicking off June 6 in Mashantucket, CT. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Fri March 15th at 10 AM local time at LiveNation.com .

“We are thrilled to be touring this summer with LIVE,” says Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. “The wealth and depth of songs from both bands should provide a great night of music. Looking forward to seeing you all this summer.”

“Bush is a great band and Gavin is a super passionate singer and performer.  I’m really looking forward to spending the summer with them,” said Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk. “I know the fans are going to get one hell of a show.”

Live and Bush The Alt-imate Tour  2019 Dates:

Released in 1994 and fueled by blockbuster No. 1 singles “Lightning Crashes,” “Selling The Drama,” “Glycerine,” “Comedown” and “Machinehead,” breakthrough albums Throwing Copper and Sixteen Stone sold more than 20 million albums combined. Both were spotlighted on Rolling Stone’s list, “1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative’s Greatest Year,” and remain timeless favorites, thanks to radio staples that include “Everything Zen,” “Little Things,” “I Alone” and “All Over You.”

“It’s an amazing feeling to know that these songs still resonate so profoundly with people,” says Kowalczyk. “And I still totally get off on celebrating this music with them. With Throwing Copper, we were taking on big things with a big sound.  Love, truth, birth, death, philosophy, religion, spirituality…we were asking the perennial questions and poking around for answers with this massive and dynamic sound. It attracted people from all over the world. We were inviting them to imagine that rock and roll could be a valid forum for exploring these types of things…we built it and they came.”

“Sixteen Stone propelled us onto the musical landscape,” says Rossdale. “Those songs have found a way into the soundtrack of people’s lives and that is the highest compliment available. We’ve continued to make music that resonates with people.”

With a discography that includes such monumental rock albums as 1994’s 6x platinum-selling Sixteen Stone , ’96’s triple-platinum-selling Razorblade Suitcase     and ’99’s platinum-selling The Science of Things , Bush has sold close to 20 million records in the U.S. and Canada alone. They’ve also compiled an amazing string of 18 consecutive Top 40 hit singles on the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts. Eleven of those hit the Top 5, six of which shot to No. 1: “Comedown,” “Glycerine,” “Machinehead,” “Swallowed,” “The Chemicals Between Us” and “The Sound of Winter.” The latter made rock radio history as the first self-released song ever to hit No. 1 at Alternative Radio, where it spent 6 weeks perched atop the chart’s top spot. The song appeared on 2011’s “comeback album,” The Sea of Memories , which was Bush’s first studio album in ten years.   That year Billboard  ran a story about the band under the headline, “Like They Never Left” – a fitting title as the multi-platinum quartet (vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Gavin Rossdale, guitarist Chris Traynor, drummer Robin Goodridge and bassist Corey Britz) promptly picked up where they left off.  They’ve continued to dominate rock radio and play sold-out shows to audiences around the world ever since. The band is currently working on the follow-up to 2017’s Black And White Rainbows , which People magazine hailed as “a triumphant return.”

Live, the multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania–Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion)–have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned two number one albums ( Throwing Copper , Secret Samadhi ). Their catalog is filled with such gems as “Lightning Crashes,” “I Alone,” “All Over You,” and “Lakini’s Juice,” which live on today as classics at rock radio. Throwing Copper —which is being celebrated in 2019 with a new deluxe 25th anniversary edition via Radioactive/Geffen/Ume–produced the band’s biggest single, “Lightning Crashes,” which was #1 at Modern Rock radio for 10 consecutive weeks. Throwing Copper  reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually surpassed sales of 10 million albums sold with Rolling Stone  honoring the album with placement on their list, “1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative’s Greatest Year.” Secret Samadhi  (1997) immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually went double platinum. The release of the platinum-selling The Distance to Here  (1999) turned Live into an international powerhouse and moved the band from arenas into stadiums. Live has been and remains today a global concert juggernaut. The band released an acclaimed five-song EP in 2018,   Local 717 ,  their first new music in over a decade.

The ’90s came alive for music fans who packed the Grand Theater at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., Thursday (June 6) night as alt-rockers Bush and Live kicked off The Alti-mate Tour. The Live Nation-produced package celebrates the 25th anniversary of Bush’s Sixteen Stone and Live’s Throwing Copper. The two bands are co-headlining with support from Our Lady Peace.

“This is a big night for us,” Bush singer Gavin Rossdale told the crowd. It hasn’t been a year since the band played the venue last August with The Cult and Stone Temple Pilots on the Revolution 3 tour, but the crowd’s response was still emphatic. Clearly Bush and Connecticut love each other.

Trending on billboard.

Bush, which closed the show, bowed at 9:45 and delivered an electrifying performance, highlighted by the singer’s near messianic interaction with the crowd at the 4000-seat theater as he ran through it from orchestra to balcony not once, but twice. Followed by security, Rossdale, like an alt-rock Michael Hutchence in a blousy black tank top, first moved through the crowd three songs in, singing “This Is War” (from 2017’s Black and White Rainbows ). People reached out to him, screaming and holding up cellphones. He stopped now and then to hug a woman or take a picture, but never lost his place. A spotlight operator desperately tried to follow Rossdale as he moved to the balcony and eventually back to the stage to joyous cheers. He later returned to the audience during “Little Things” (from Sixteen Stone ). It remains to be seen if he will do this at other shows, but he seems driven to connect with his audience and remind them that Bush is not just a heritage act, but very much alive and well and making new music. People pay a lot of money for meet-and-greet ticket packages these days, but Rossdale is giving it away for free if you’re lucky, and who doesn’t want to take a chance on that?

The crowd was already eating out of his hand when the band opened with “Machinehead.” The playing was tight and the members – drummer Nic Hughes, bassist Corey Britz and lead guitarist Chris Traynor — thundered through their songs. The band also played its newly released song, “Bullet Holes,” which is featured on the soundtrack of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum . The video, which features footage from the film, played behind the band with a dizzying light show.

The show closed with two of the biggest hits from Sixteen Stone. First, Rossdale played alone in a spotlight and turned in a mesmerizing version of “Glycerine”; the room glimmered with cellphone lights as if reflected by a mirror ball. They closed with “Comedown” and the response was so big, Rossdale turned his mic to the audience and let them sing.

Co-headliners Live kicked off its show with singer Ed Kowalczyk appearing in the crowd singing “Dam at Otter Creek,” and though his tenure in the audience would not last as long as Rossdale’s, it was equally well-received. The Pennsylvania band – guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Gracey – was joined by second guitarist Zak Loy and percussionist Clint Simmons, adding nuance to the band’s power throughout the set. July 19 will mark the 25th anniversary of Throwing Copper (with a deluxe multi-format reissue via Radioactive/MCA/Ume). As expected, the band focused most of the evening on songs from the release.

Kowalczyk, who looked like a shamanistic Stanley Tucci with his necklace and flowing black shirt, is a roaring tenor who commands the stage with his passion and spirited dancing. Taylor and Dahlheimer, with their facial hair, fedoras and sunglasses, flanked Kowalczyk throughout the night like a modern ZZ Top. They are a tight group and hits like “All Over You,” “Shit Towne” and “I Alone” stood out in the set as the members moved around the stage, mugging for the crowd.

Live did make a curious choice by including two cover songs in the set. The first was R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” – three songs in – which the singer explained was about celebrating their influences. The second, The Stones’ “Paint It Black,” amped up the excitement with its fast tempo, but both seemed somewhat out of place, though the crowd loved them.

The singer joked, “You’re gonna go out and tell all your friends on the Internet that the Alti-mate Tour is fucking awesome, right?” before calling in “White Discussion.” He also performed two songs alone, including the uplifting ballad, “Heaven,” written for his daughter, which he dedicated “to all the mothers and daughters here tonight.”

The band closed with the much-anticipated “Lightning Crashes,” which gave rise to an a cappella sing-along with the audience.

Toronto rockers Our Lady Peace had the early slot but opened the show to a sizeable crowd and people filing in. Though they only played a six-song set, the band got the audience bouncing with “Clumsy” and “Starseed.”

Bush + Live + Bring Their Altimate Tour to Tampa Fl.

bush and live tour 2019

Tampa, Florida (August 16, 2019) – Every Thursday people post pictures or stories of a great time from their past under the hashtag throwback Thursday. On Friday August sixteenth at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre the hashtag should be changed to flashback Friday. Yes, there was a flashback to the mid-nineties when alternative rock ruled the airways. This was a time when earnest lyrics were mixed with a guitar driven sound and bands like Our Lady Peace, Live , and Bush were among the most popular. Flash-forward to this night and Our Lady Peace , Live , and Bush are together on the perfectly named Altimate tour . The on and off rain, and typical high Florida humidity didn’t stop people from packing into the Amphitheatre early on as with a lineup like this no one wanted to miss a single band. The first act to take the stage was Canada’s own Our Lady Peace . While usually bands playing the opening slot have shortest amount of time and play to a half empty venue, only the former was true. With multiple hit albums to their name, this was a band that fans were eager to see. Making the best use of their time on stage Our Lady Peace decided to offer a sampling of songs throughout their career instead of just focusing on their biggest selling album 1997’s Clumsy . They kicked things off with “Drop Me In the Water” from their most recent release Somethingness . With twenty five plus years doing this, lead singer Raine Maida vocals are still flawless. Of course, they had to play arguably their two biggest hits. When the opening chords of “Superman’s Dead” rang out everyone was ready and willing to sing along. With acoustic guitar in hand Raine Maida’s earnest vocals were at their finest when he performed “Clumsy” .

There is no gallery selected or the gallery was deleted.

With this being a co-headling tour between Bush and Live , they would alternate been who would close out the night. For tonight’s performance Live would take the stage first. This year is the twenty fifth anniversary of the release of Live’s huge hit album Throwing Copper . Knowing this, you knew there would be a heavy dose of these songs on the setlist tonight, and of course they didn’t disappoint. Nearly half of this album would make its way into the setlist. As the PA system pumped in the hit Rolling Stones song “Gimme Shelter” the band took the stage to the cheers of the crowd. With giant video screens showing images of the cover of the album Throwing Copper they kicked off the night with “All Over You” . The band quickly followed it up with “Selling The Drama” to the delight of everyone there. At this point, lead singer Ed Kowalczyk let everyone know they were going to play a song from a beloved band of theirs. With that they played a beautiful cover of R.E.M’s hit song “Losing My Religion” . This wasn’t the only cover they would do this night. The Rolling Stone’s huge hit song “Paint It Black” would also make its way into tonight’s show. Towards the end of their performance the band would leave the stage leaving Ed Kowalczyk alone with his acoustic guitar to perform “Heaven” and “Turn My Head” , which he did an absolutely beautiful job on. Sadly, their performance had to end, and their final song of the night was one of their biggest hits, “Lightning Crashes” and what an ending it was, Ed Kowalczyk’s voice and the rest of the band’s performance were full of passion and power.

Now it was time for Bush to close out the night. These British rockers fronted by Gavin Rossdale, just like Live , are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their huge album Sixteen Stone . Their setlist would also be biased towards this massive hit album. Hitting the stage with all the energy of a double barreled shotgun blast, they ripped into the fifth single off of Sixteen Stone , “Machine Head” . Even though it has been twenty five years, they still throw every ounce of energy and urgency that this song commands. Switching things up, they brought their performance to the present with a song off of their 2017 release Black And White Rainbows , “This Is War” . After this Guitarist Chris Traynor leapt into the slide drenched intro guitar solo of “Everything Zen” and the entire venue went nuts. The look in the eyes of the lucky fans who were able to get to the very front at the rail said everything, this is one of THOSE songs that they had to hear. Gavin Rossdale’s energy level was unbelievable. He was in near constant motion entertaining the crowd. He showed the crowd just how much energy he had when he leapt into the crowd during their performance of “Little Things” and ran through the whole Amphitheatre all while singing the song which thrilled every fan that was lucky enough to be in his path. After all this, he calmed things down by performing “Glycerine” by himself. With just his guitar and his well know voice, he captivated everyone that was lucky to get a ticket to this concert. Finally, the band came back and performed another hit that Sixteen Stone spawned, “Comedown” . How better to end the night than with a song about coming down from intense emotions.

With these three bands in one place together, the tour name is aptly named. It really is the Altimate Tour for not only fans of Our Lady Peace, Live and Bush , but fans of that beloved genre of music. So, if your looking to add to your throwback Thursday memories then this tour is one that can’t be missed.
