Our Crazy Cave Activity Centre is perfect for a high-energy play session in our safe and supervised soft play area. Suitable for children up to 12 years of age, the play session is 90 minutes long and it can be booked as a package with the Crag Cave tour.

While teachers must remain with the group, they can enjoy tea and coffee in our Crazy Cave Café with a full view of the play area. Relax on our comfortable sofas, enjoy our selection of teas, coffees and tasty treats and take a well-earned break!

For schools who want to take advantage of the variety that our Crag Cave experience offers, we can arrange group lunches for your school group. The child-centred menu includes options such as chicken nuggets, sausages, chips, sandwiches/rolls, crisps, fruit and juice.

The aim of our services is to contribute to holistic development of the participants through promoting the Physical, Social and Emotional domains of learning. Active Kingdom also organise multi activity Summer Camps throughout Kerry & West Limerick. These Summer Camps give participants an exposure to a variety of sporting activities & is built on the content of the Physical Education syllabus.

Active Kingdom School Tours.

We run School Tours in Tralee annually during the month of June. On an Active Kingdom school tour, students will participate in a wide array of fun & challenging physical activities that will not only develop their fundamental movement skills including agility, balance coordination & overall fitness but also enhance teamwork, cooperation & problem-solving skills. The tour consists of a mixture of inflatable activities & team building sessions & is suitable for all ages from Juniors to sixth class & goes ahead in all weather conditions.

Active kingdom management team..

Active Kingdom was founded by its director JT Deenihan in 2014. JT Deenihan holds a PhD in Physical Education and currently lectures PE and Coaching in third level education. Podge Murphy and Paul Carmody are Active Kingdom's most senior members of staff and part of the Active Kingdom management team, they also serve as School Tour and Summer Camp coordinators during the Summer. Podge holds a Professional Diploma in Physical Education and currently teaches PE at second level and is a Strength and Conditioning coach for club and county football teams. Paul holds a Honors Degree in Health and Leisure and is a qualified Special Needs Assistant and currently works as as SNA at primary school level. All of Active Kingdom's staff are either graduates of, or studying in the areas of Physical Education, Health and Leisure, Primary or Secondary teaching or similar degrees. All staff undergo extensive training with Active Kingdom prior to commencement.

BALLYHASS LAKES ACTIVITY CENTRE   boasts Ireland's largest cable wakeboarding facility and Munster’s most unique "Wipe Out Style" inflatable AquaPark. Students can climb, bounce and navigate their way around the course. Starting at just €15 it is a fantastic budget option.

The 40-acre site has two spring water lakes, natural rock faces, and many adventure facilities. Our School Tours Programme caters for students at both primary and secondary level and offers a wide range of hands-on, educational activities based on the school curriculum. Guided tours, interactive workshops and discovery trails enable pupils to explore our exhibitions in a fun and accessible way. Students can learn how to write a story like John B. Keane; go on a ‘Treasure Hunt’ to find hidden clues about the writers; learn about local folklore on our Púca Story Trail; and step back in time to explore the history of this ancient landscape in our interactive exhibition ‘Listowel through the Ages’.

All aboard for a demonstration trip on the “World’s Strangest Train” and experience a truly unique form of rail travel!The Lartigue Monorail was a unique railway line which ran between Listowel and Ballybunion in the late 19th century and this re-creation of a much-loved and laughed-at historical railway will delight children of all ages. In addition to their trip on the train, your group can also experience the Museum’s models and displays and watch historic film footage of the original railway.

River Walk & Nature Trail Research

On our guided nature trail along the River Feale students will discover and learn about the myriad of plant and animal life which lives along the River. Discover Listowel’s ‘secret’ garden – The Garden of Europe, which occupies a secluded corner in the Town Park. This section of the Park was transformed in 1995 into The Garden of Europe to commemorate the anniversary of the ending of World War II.Twelve mini-gardens, dedicated to various members of the European Union, are filled with over 3000 trees and plants. The Garden of Europe also features a bust of the poet, Schiller, and Ireland’s only Holocaust Memorial.

To ensure you get the most from your visit, our School Tour Programme usually commence at 10am. This may vary depending on the number of activities you require but will be confirmed at time of booking. However, we will endeavour to accommodate any other requests.

What do we need to wear / bring?

Comfortable clothes and walking footwear, rain jackets and sun cream!

What if it rains?

Our School Tours Programme includes a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities so your visit will be successful regardless of the elements.

Are there refreshments available for teachers?

Complimentary tea/coffee and homemade scones will be provided for Teachers and Support Staff upon arrival.

All activities are fully insured.

Do you have a shop?

We operate a small book and gift shop at Kerry Writers’ Museum, but this part of the School Tours Programme is entirely at your discretion. A suggested amount of pocket money needed would be no more than €8.00.

Secondary Schools Package

Actor Wendell Pierce claims he was denied Harlem apartment: 'Racism and bigots are real'

Actor Wendell Pierce , known for his roles in television hits including "The Wire" and "Jack Ryan," is claiming his application for an apartment in New York was denied allegedly due to his race.

"Even with my proof of employment, bank statements and real estate holdings, a white apartment owner DENIED my application to rent the apartment…..in Harlem, of all places. Racism and bigots are real," the Black award-winning actor posted on X Tuesday . "There are those who will do anything to destroy life’s journey for Black folks. When you deny our personal experiences, you are as vile and despicable.”

Harlem is a neighborhood in New York City in northern Manhattan, famous for its rich African American heritage. More than a century ago, it marked ground zero of an explosion of arts, politics and culture in Black America.  

In the same tweet Pierce, a Tony-award winner, wrote he currently stars in two TV series,  " Elsbeth " and " Raising Kanan" and is in the process of filming the movie "Superman." He also wrote he recently stared in the fourth season of "Jack Ryan " and, last year, completed a run on Broadway in "Death of a Salesman" in New York City.

It was not immediately known where in Harlem Pierce applied for an apartment.

'This is devastating': Fearless Fund blocked from giving grants only to Black women in victory for DEI critics

Pierce: 'I was backing him up'

In an interview with CNN's Abby Phillips , Pierce explained he took a relative who recently graduated from Howard University apartment shopping "to make sure he got a decent apartment and I was backing him up. I gave them all of my bank statements … and I was denied and I realized that they used the technicality of saying because I did not have steady, consistent employment... Most actors work three months here, three months there."

He told the outlet he even offered to pay a year in advance for the unit but was denied.

"I realized the application was designed that way to be discriminatory," Pierce said in the interview. "I wanted to show the damaging affects of when bigotry is memorialized in law."

In another post Wednesday, Pierce emphasized his comment was not self-motivated.

"While I appreciate the response to my own personal experience of discrimination in housing, I only mentioned it as an example of the insidious nature of bigotry. This court decision is profoundly more disturbing and injurious. CALL TO ACTION," the actor wrote after posting a link to a news story about an appellate court blocking a venture firm's program from issuing grants to only Black women.

Who is Wendell Pierce?

Pierce, 60, is an American actor from New Orleans .

He's a Tony Award-winning producer ("Clybourne Park") and a graduate of Juilliard School.

He starred as Baltimore police Detective William “Bunk” Moreland in "The Wire" and also as CIA Detective James Greer alongside Actor John Krasinski in "Jack Ryan" for four seasons.

In March, the Motion Picture Association reported Pierce would play "Daily Planet" chief Perry White in James Gunn's upcoming film "Superman."

His other hit TV series and movies include, "Suits" (USA Network) "The Michael J. Fox Show" (NBC), "Confirmation" (HBO) and"Treme" (HBO).

He also starred alongside Whitney Houston in the 1995 romantic comedy, "Waiting to Exhale."

'Imagine what a regular black man has to go through'

Pierce's post drew swift reaction from the public.

"Now just imagine what a regular black man has to go through smh. Even when rich it tough being black in America," one X user commented on the actor's post.

Another user commented: "the denial of housing with your obvious qualifications was bad enough, but for this to happen in harlem is the icing on the cake. I’m sorry you’ve been so directly affected by this broken system."
