Since the global pause in cruising, more people have become interested in tracking the locations of cruise ships. It can be fascinating to see where cruise ships are anchored in the sea right now and where they’re cruising to next.

You can use these exact cruise ship locations to plan a sightseeing trip to see the cruise ships anchored at sea. You may also be interested to see where cruise ships are heading to get clues as to when cruising will resume for a particular ship.

How to use the cruise ship tracker

1. select the ship type.

By default, the map shows all ships including cargo vessels, tankers, tugs and fishing boats. To see cruise ships and ferries only, click or tap on the filter icon, disable all ship types and then select ‘passenger vessels’. Then click or tap the filter icon again to go back to the map.

Of course, if you’re interesting in all of the shipping movements, you can use the live ship tracker to find all sorts of vessels as well as cruise ships.

2. Change the location or zoom in

By default, this cruise ship tracker is set to show where cruise ships are sailing off the south coast of the UK.

However, you can easily see cruise ship locations anywhere in the world. Just drag the map to where you want to see. You can also zoom in and out for a closer look (e.g. by using the scroll wheel on your mouse or the + and – in the top right).

3. Find a particular ship

To find the location of a particular cruise ship, just click or tap on the magnifying glass icon and type the name of the ship e.g. ‘Ventura’. Click or tap the magnifying glass again to close the search facility and see the cruise ship map.

4. See cruise ship info

If you click or tap on a ship, you’ll be able to see whether the ship is anchored or moving, at what speed and the destination that the ship is heading for.

Drone video shows the spectacular arrival of Cunard's newest cruise ship into its home port.

The 3,000-capacity luxury Queen Anne was watched by crowds lining Southampton Water as it sailed in from Venice.

The 113,000-tonne ship joins Cunard's fleet of queens - Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria and is the company's first new cruise ship in 14 years.

Queen Anne is due to depart on its maiden voyage to Lisbon on Friday.

Virgin Voyages to Announce Plans for Brilliant Lady

Virgin Voyages is preparing to announce plans for its forthcoming ship, the Brilliant Lady. The 2,770-guest vessel was delivered to the company earlier this year but has remained out of service in Europe.

Now, Virgin appears ready to disclose more details about Brilliant’s inaugural season and future deployment.

In its social media profiles and main website, the company recently published teaser videos that promise “something brilliant coming.”

Virgin Voyages said that the announcement will include “epic news,” as well as new ports. The video also shows silhouettes of destinations landmarks across North America, including Seattle’s Space Needle, Los Angeles’ Hollywood Sign and New York City’s Statue of Liberty.

The news will be unveiled on May 1, 2024, during a live transmission on Virgin Voyages’ website.

Built by the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the Brilliant Lady is the fourth vessel in the company’s Lady Ship series.

Initially scheduled to debut in late 2023, the 140,000-ton cruise ship had its inaugural season canceled in September .

At the time, the company stated that unexpected construction, supply chain and staffing challenges led to the decision.

“We want to make sure that when the ship launches, we can deliver the standards our Sailors have come to expect from an award-winning brand like Virgin Voyages,” the company added.

A new launch date was not immediately determined, and the vessel has remained out of service in Italy since its delivery.

With three ships currently in service, Virgin Voyages offers year-round itineraries in the Caribbean and seasonal programs in the Mediterranean.

After cancelling its upcoming winter season in Australia, the company also revealed plans to return to Northern Europe in August with a series of cruises departing from the United Kingdom onboard the Resilient Lady.

The company offers an adults-only product designed to provide “the intimate and elevated experience of a boutique hotel at sea.”

Travelers will have to wait longer than planned to sail on Princess Cruises’ upcoming ship.

The delivery of Star Princess, which was set to debut next summer, will be pushed back by about two months. The cruise line said the delay was a “mutual” decision with shipbuilder Fincantieri.

“Following a comprehensive review of the remaining construction milestones, both parties have elected to adjust the ship's delivery date from July 29, 2025 to September 26, 2025, which will result in the cancellation of the nine inaugural sailings,” Princess said in a news release .

Guests whose cruises are impacted will be able to rebook on any Princess ship and, depending on which sailing they pick, receive future cruise and onboard credits. They will also be able to opt for a full refund of their fare instead.

“Despite our collective dedication and relentless pursuit to deliver the ship in late July, it has become evident that additional time is required to ensure the Star Princess is delivered to the highest standards expected by our guests,” Princess Cruises President John Padgett said in the release.

Your cruise was canceled: Now what?

The ship’s new inaugural itineraries will include 11 and seven-day Mediterranean cruises on Oct. 4 and 15, 2025, respectively. Those will be followed by a two-week transatlantic voyage to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Oct. 22, 2025.

Those sailings will be available to book on April 30.

Star Princess will be the second in the line’s Sphere Class. Sister ship Sun Princess was also delayed ahead of its launch earlier this year, with Princess citing “additional technical work” needed at the shipyard.

HAL-Holland America extends Nieuw Statendam ship's homeporting in Dover UK to 2026

HAL-Holland America Line has announced that its ship Nieuw Statendam will be homeported in Dover UK for a second consecutive year in 2026. This decision follows the ship's inaugural summer 2025 season sailing from Dover, offering a range of 14-night cruises and a 28-day voyage to the Arctic and Greenland.

This return to offering roundtrip voyages from the UK marks a significant move for HAL, which last did so in 2015. Nico Bleichrodt, International Sales and Marketing Director, mentioned that the 2026 cruise program will be finalized in the coming months and may commence slightly earlier than the 2025 ex-UK cruises.

While HAL is renowned for its Alaska sailings in the UK market, homeporting the Nieuw Statendam in Dover for 2025 has generated interest in its closer-to-home itineraries, particularly those to the Canaries.

Currently, the UK represents ~5% of HAL's bookings, but Nico Bleichrodt aims to double this figure next year with the introduction of Nieuw Statendam's Canaries, Great Britain, and Arctic cruises.

Karen Farndell, UK Director Sales and Marketing, expressed satisfaction with the market's response and highlighted strong sales for the Canaries cruises. She emphasized Holland America Line's commitment to the UK cruise market's growth and excitement about sailing from Dover again in 2026.

The all-inclusive Have it All packages are particularly popular in the UK, with ~70% of customers opting for upgrades beyond the standard fare, exceeding the global average. This package includes drinks, excursions, specialty dining, Wi-Fi, and staff gratuities for GBP 60 per person per day.

Karen Farndell has expanded Holland America Line's collaboration with travel agents over the past 2 years, organizing ship visits and cruises for agents. Plans for agent engagement in 2026 will be confirmed later, aiming to maintain the current level of activity and support for the UK market.
