This was one of the most exciting and interesting trip I have ever taken. I have lived in several US States and seven countries outside of the US. So, when I say this trip was the greatest, I have a lot of experience to draw from. Augustine, David, and Chile are incredibly experience in birds and four legged animals. Their dedication to seeing that you get to see the real Africa is unsurpassed. If you want the best and most memorable Safari available you should book with Aardvark!! Dale Maas, Prescott, AZ

If your looking to go on a great safari in Tanzania, look no further. In February, 2019, we traveled with a photo group that uses Aardvark Safaris exclusively because of the amazing service they provide. We were met at the airport and brought to our lovely hotel to rest after the flight. Our trip then began with a visit to Beesley's Lark Conservation to find some rare birds which Augustine found for us. We continued on to Lake Duluti Forest Reserve for more incredible birding. Then we visited Arusha National Park followed by Tarangire Park. The amount of wildlife we saw was incredible. A special treat was a visit to the only nomadic hunters and gatherers left in Tanzania, The Hadzabe Tribe. Amazing!!! The next part of the trip was to the NgoroNgoro Crater and of course the Serengeti. We also visited his wife's St. Lucia orphanage which helps children with AIDS. This was a two week long trip in Tanzania. It was followed by a week in Uganda for the Gorillas which, by the way, Agustine arranged for us as well. He is so knowledgeable about everything in Tanzania that you're guaranteed to have a once in a lifetime experience. He gets you to all the national parks safely and expeditiously so that you have the best opportunities to see everything Tanzania has to offer. He knows the best lodges to stay at and the most popular areas to find the wildlife you've come to enjoy. We recommend at least a ten day visit. We had such a great time that we're going back in 2020 with family and will only use Aardvark Safaris.

Aardvark Safaris Tanzania LTD was recommended to us by some friends. They told us they LOVE Gus (Augustine) and I can sure see why! Gus worked with us to create the perfect safari within our budget. Gus was waiting for us at the airport, took us to our hotel and joined us for dinner. He explained what to expect and had hotel staff leave our itinerary in a very professional folder on our bed. The next morning we started what became the most incredible experience of my life. We flew to the western part of the Serengeti and as soon as we got into our tour vehicle began to see amazing animals--zebras, lions, hippos, and more. Gus was incredibly knowledgeable--he had so much information about each animal as well as birds and plants. Thankfully, he held much of the information until we saw a particular animal, bird, or plant (or I would have been overwhelmed). I can't say enough good things about this tour company. Gus was funny (as was his driver, David), informative, attentive, and also patient with us. He knew where to go so that we would likely see specific animals, and was polite with other tourists & guides. He took us all over Serengeti National Park, Oldupai Gorge, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire. Knowing we were interested in photographing the animals we saw, Gus and David made sure we had good angles to take photographs of the amazing animals and provided sand bags for our huge lenses. It's obvious that he truly cares about the preservation of the animals as well as the people of Tanzania. At the end of the trip, we visited an orphanage that was started by his wife that is for children with AIDS. These children have been abandoned by their families, but are cared for with love by the staff at St. Lucia. Gus contributes a portion of his income to support this orphanage. I absolutely recommend Aardvark Safari Tanzania and Augustine Mwangotya if you are considering a safari in Africa.

I had never been to Africa before and was quite excited about my trip. From the moment my sister and I arrived in Tanzania, it was wonderful. Augustine picked us up at the airport and took us to our hotel. When we got to our room, there were thoughtful gifts for us, along with a lovely welcoming note and pertinent information. Wow! I was so impressed! The attention to detail to make our safari special was present every day. Augustine was so organized, so helpful and considerate. He and his drivers were so knowledgeable and lots of fun. I can’t thank them enough for making my African trip a most fabulous experience. You will be SO VERY PLEASED if you travel with Aardvark Safaris!!!

I just returned back from Tanzania (15days Wildlife Safari ) along with my best friend Sally from the United States. We had wonderful time in Tanzania with best tour guide (Augustine, a.k.a "Gus" from Aardvark could not let even a mosquito bite on our safari trip. (what a wonderful person) Very knowledgeable and pays attention to every detail. I give 10/10 to Gus and 100/100 to Aardvark safaris Tanzania. Memorable and surely i will come again and again.

Super knowledgeable staff, best taste of all experiences, accommodations surpassed our expectations. Prompt pick up from Augustine at the airport, met the rest of our group happily camped out at a gorgeous hotel in Arusha. We met, cheers and woke up the next morning, off for our adventure. We couldn't have been taken on a more comprehensive safari. Of course the wildlife is like nothing else in the world, birding, elephants, and lions roaring at night. Accommodations were from farm houses to tented camps, Adding in the Masai and where Lucy was discovered was amazing. Happy hours were always fun too! Our visit was actually December/January 2015. The choice for this date was not available below.

Tour operator, aardvark safaris.

At Aardvark, you’ll find that we don’t sell any camps or lodges that we haven’t visited ourselves and that after more than 16 years in the business, we’re still passionate about creating customized safaris that will introduce you to the Africa we know and love.

From a one room, two man enterprise, we now have four small offices in the US and UK that are well stocked with smart, dedicated, patient safari consultants who know their stuff. When we’re not riding through the Okavango Delta, hopping on helicopters in Zambia, climbing sand dunes in Namibia, on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, exploring Kenya’s wildlife with our own children, self-driving in South Africa or sneaking photo opportunities with gorillas, we’re arranging the best customized safaris in the business.

Whether you’re a safari first timer or a veteran, it’s great to know you’re in safe hands. Read on to find out that you won’t pay more for our expertise than if you booked the safari yourself, and that we work hard to give back to the animals and people that make Africa so special. We’re proud to be a small, dynamic company. We’ve stayed close to our roots and we think you’ll find that makes all the difference.

Why Aardvark

At Aardvark Safaris, we know that no two clients are alike, that bigger isn’t better and tailor-made is best. From out and out adventure to the lap of luxury, we bring your dreams to life using our expertise to create unforgettable journeys. Hidden gems, extraordinary access, out of the way places — that’s the Aardvark way. That’s Africa, your way.

A safari is a once in a lifetime experience and we want your safari to be perfect…for you.  We won’t suggest a camp or lodge to you until we get to know your wishes and requirements. And we won’t recommend it unless one of our specialists has been there, has walked with the guides, eaten the food and slept in the beds.

We travel every few months to see new properties and to re-visit old favorites. It is only by spending time on the ground that we can be sure we are offering you the best advice.

Where possible, we will use small, owner run camps and lodges that are ideally located so you can enjoy the bush off the beaten track. We also understand that a guide can make or break your trip. The small camps we use employ better guides with more experience, charisma and unmatched local knowledge.

Our approach combines decades of experience with an exceptional service. We’ll be with you every step of the way, from designing your itinerary to advising you what to pack to monitoring your progress as you travel. More than 70% of our clients come from repeat business or word of mouth and we strive to exceed expectations, every time.

We’ll get you away from the crowds during the wildebeest migration, introduce you to the gorilla vets in Rwanda, find you Botswana’s top specialist guides, create unscripted and meaningful cultural exchanges in townships, villages, schools and clinics, get you into the top restaurants in Cape Town and ensure you have the finest pilot for your Namibian flying safari.

On your return, we want to hear about your trip and find that client feedback (both good and occasionally bad) helps keep us abreast of changes on the ground.

We’re passionate about safaris and know that travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. Whether you are a single traveler, couple, multi-generational family or a group, we can help you plan an itinerary with insider access and experiences that surprise and delight to ensure that you enjoy the real Africa with absolute confidence and security.

Aardvark Safaris started in 1999 when John Spence and Richard Smith set up business in a one room office. This small enterprise has evolved into a vibrant, thriving company with UK offices in Tidworth, Hampshire and Musselburgh on the edge of Edinburgh.  Alice Gully joined the management in 2004 and is now sole owner of the business. Alice is still very much involved on a day to day basis and has recruited around her a team of smart, dedicated, patient safari consultants who really know their stuff.

We travel every few months to see new properties and to re-visit old favourites. We look at numerous camps on these trips – it is only by actually seeing what is out there that we can be sure we are offering you the best advice. Now over 25 years on, we’re still passionate about creating tailor made safaris that will introduce you to the Africa we know and love.

We’re not a big company and have stayed close to our roots which we think makes all the difference. Whether this is your first or fifth safari you are in good hands and you won’t pay more for our expertise than if you booked the safari yourself.
