"This tour was the ideal experience for exploring the North Shore of Kauai. Captain Steve and his son were so knowledgeable about everything, from the names of the waterfalls to the legends the cliffs and valleys hold. I’ve only done a tour like this once before, and it was on a zodiac boat, which was bumpy and not as enjoyable. This boat was the ideal size to handle the waves, as well as fit into sea caves along the Napoli Coast. Captain Steve was an excellent driver, and we never felt unsafe, even inside caves with big waves. I would highly recommend this family-owned and operated company for your next boat tour."

"My husband and I did the afternoon 4 hour Na Pali coast and snorkel tour. It was the highlight of our time in Kauai! Captain Steve and his co-captain (blanking on her name but she was awesome) were fantastic tour guides. I loved Captain Steve's personal touches to every story he told about the coast as well as his knowledge and understanding of the ocean. He took us through sea caves and gave us a taste of the Na Pali "Rollercoaster Ride." The snorkeling was awesome too! Both of them gave clear instructions about safety and frequently checked on passengers to make sure everyone was feeling OK. In addition to the actual tour, their website explains exactly what you get and gives accurate information about what to expect. We went during a time when Kuhio highway to Hanalei was under construction due to a landslide a few months prior and there was a limited amount of time to get into the area. It was clearly stated on the website along with the time you needed to make the trip. The booking staff did a great job communicating with us about what to expect and was very helpful. I cannot say enough great things about this tour and company! Definitely recommend!!"

My first time snorkeling and I had a blast! The crew was personable, professional, and even offered me prescription goggles. This was a solo activity for me and I met some very nice people. Morning Tour Details (7:30am Departure)

Rise and shine for an incredible and memorable day exploring the Na Pali coast, with its many sea caves and waterfalls in a way that only our versatile Super Raft can provide. Our uncrowded, calm snorkel stop provides opportunities to bring you face-to-face with Hawaiian Sea Turtles and a host of beautiful reef fish.  Dolphin sightings are frequent on our morning tour, when ocean conditions tend to be calmer.

Afternoon Tour (1:30pm Departure)

Donʻt want to wake up early?  No problem!  Our afternoon tour is an opportunity to see the Na Pali Coast in ideal lighting.  As the morning mist subsides, the sun shines directly into the many valleys and ridges of the iconic 4,000’ high sea cliffs. The afternoon sun penetrates the crystal waters to yield colors that will become your favorites while the warmth is welcome after snorkeling with colorful tropical fish and Hawaiian Sea Turtles.  Our new 37’ Naiad Super Rafts cut through the afternoon breeze to provide one of the smoothest experiences available. On the return trip back to the harbor, enjoy the splendor of West Kaua’i during golden hour as over 12 miles of white sand beaches are turned to gold.

What to Bring

All guests are provided with a 10-Liter dry bag which has ample space for a towel, photography equipment, mobile phones, sunscreen, and other small equipment or necessary medications.  Guests should travel light and only pack what will be needed on board.

Summer vs. Winter on the NaPali Coast

In the summertime (May thru September), the captain will stop at a secluded reef at M`akole Point, and set anchor, where we will enjoy a snorkel stop,  snacks and beverages.

In the wintertime (October thru March), larger swells may disrupt snorkeling in the area.  If the weather does not allow for snorkeling your Captain will take additional time along the coast and may stop to watch Humpback Whales during their calving and mating season.

What You Need to Know

Each of our tours is dependent on the weather in terms of what we can and cannot do.  All tours, destinations, snorkeling, and entering into sea caves are dependent on weather conditions and are at the captain’s discretion for safety.  In the rare event that we cannot safely reach the Na Pali Coast, your captain may reroute the tour to beautiful Kipu Kai on the south shore, a secluded bay with excellent snorkeling.

If you are pregnant, have recently had surgery, or have back or neck injuries/issues, this is NOT the trip for you.  Children 7 and up are welcome.  All passengers must be able to walk onto the vessel unassisted.    Please visit our FAQ section for more information. Full-face snorkel masks are not permitted on board our vessel due to safety, as full-face snorkel masks can prevent the user from communicating with the captain and crew.

I highly recommend taking a Na Pali boat tour with Captain Kamua. We saw a sea turtle, a family of dolphins played along side the boat, we got to snorkel, go in a sea cave, and view the majestic Na Pali coast. The tour was just 6 people plus the captain. We wanted to see the Na Pali coast and took this tour. The boat takes 6 but we were the only ones on board. Our driver and guide was amazing. It was whale season so we spent quite a while looking for and finding lots of whales - fast boat enabled us to follow ‘spouts’. The coastline is breathtaking and the size of the boat meant we could enter many of the sea caves which the larger boats and catamarans cannot. We also went much further round the coast that the standard tours. It is a more expensive trip but definitely worth the extra money for a once in a lifetime experience.

It isn’t easy to traverse Nā Pali Coast State Park’s 17 miles of coastline in a single, well-spent afternoon, and not all boats are built to enter hidden sea caves and truly explore the coast.

Our experienced captains have spent years scouting the Nā Pali Coast , and are well-informed on navigating to the best spots to go along the coast. Seeing the impression it leaves on newcomers warms our hearts every time. Perceiving the Nā Pali Coast from the ocean is a breathtaking sight to behold for anyone.

Nā Pali’s coastal caves are so varied and awe-inspiring that we developed two separate Nā Pali coastal cave tours:

• It’s important to note that state regulations say to stay 10 feet away from turtles both on land and in the water as they are a protected species.
• Our sea cave expedition is entirely focused on exploring as many coastal caves in and around Nā Pali Coast State Park as possible. Along the way, you will be treated to the incredible scenery of the Nā Pali Coast, including magnificent beaches, towering cliffs, verdant valleys, thundering waterfalls, and mysterious sea caves. With a greater focus on sea cave exploration than zipping around the coastline, it is our goal to give you a real adventure.

Whale Watching Off the Nā Pali Coastline

Kauai is fortunate to be ideally situated to intercept several species of migratory whales seeking refuge from the Alaskan winters. Being situated farther out into the Pacific than the rest of the Hawaiian islands, the Nā Pali Coast becomes a second home for humpback whales during mating season between December and April.

It provides the perfect opportunity for a once-in-a-lifetime whale-watching experience , which peaks in January through February. When the water’s calm, you may even witness a whale breach, or hear the humpback’s enigmatic song, which carries for up to 20 miles.

Humpback whales aren’t the only sea creatures to keep your eyes and cameras primed for. Nā Pali Coast State Park also hosts several whale species, including melon-headed, short-finned pilot, and false killer whales. If we’re fortunate, we may even catch a glimpse of the elusive sperm whale.

Of course, it’s almost impossible to embark on a whale-watching tour without inexplicably finding oneself on an enlivening dolphin tour , as well! Known for their cheerful, frolicking acrobatics, dolphins in Kauai are almost unnervingly bold.
