Tour Edge has today introduced its new E522 and SuperSpin Vibrcor wedges which will hit retail on October 1st.

Hot Launch E522 Wedge

The extreme game improvement Hot Launch E522 wedge features a super-wide Houdini sole that puts more weight below and behind the ball in design to make it extremely easy for players to get the ball into the air and out of tough lies.

With its curved leading edge, the Houdini sole is designed to reduce turf interaction by 35% in order to promote a “no-dig” design leading to significantly cleaner contact.

The super-wide sole and heavier head weight of the E522 Wedge aims to also help to eliminate flubs for superior contact while providing versatility by adding performance benefits to all types of shots around the green from all turf conditions.

The wedge features a “super-deep” undercut cavity that lowers the Center of Gravity in design for enhanced forgiveness, while mass has been redistributed for enhanced flight control and to create a higher launch with increased spin from the rough and sand.

An oversized face design on the E522 wedge offers a greater striking area for enhanced consistency and accuracy while also raising the MOI for tight precision around greens and enhanced playability.

The full-face coverage grooves of the E522 Wedge are maximized to USGA depth and sharpness and are designed to provide enhanced spin and control across the entire face of the wedge.

Why rory mcilroy will likely use the new taylormade brnr mini driver copper at the rbc heritage.

Although we spotted Rory McIlroy testing the new TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver Copper last week during practice rounds at the Masters, he ultimately didn’t decide to use the club in competition.

It seems that will change this week at the 2024 RBC Heritage, played at the short-and-tight Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head.

When asked on Wednesday following his morning Pro-Am if he’d be using the new, nostalgic BRNR Copper this week, McIlroy said, “I think so.”

“I like it,” McIlroy told GolfWRX.com on Tuesday regarding the BRNR. “This would be a good week for it.”

According to Adrian Rietveld, the Senior Manager of Tour at TaylorMade, the BRNR Mini Driver can help McIlroy position himself properly off the tee at the tight layout.

Here’s what Rietveld told GolfWRX.com on Wednesday:

“For someone like Rory, who’s that long at the top end of the bag, and then you put him on a course like Harbour Town, it’s tough off the tee. It’s tight into the greens, and you have to put yourself in position off the tee to have a shot into the green. It kind of reminds me of Valderrama in Spain, where you can be in the fairway and have no shot into the green.

“I’m caddying for Tommy [Fleetwood] this week, so I was walking the course last night and looking at a few things. There’s just such a small margin for error. You can be standing in the fairway at 300 yards and have a shot, but at 320 you don’t. So if you don’t hit a perfect shot, you could be stuck behind a tree. And then if you’re back at 280, it might be a really tough shot into the small greens.

“So for Rory [with the BRNR], it’s a nice course-specific golf club for him. He’s got both shots with it; he can move it right-to-left or left-to-right. And the main thing about this club has been the accuracy and the dispersion with it. I mean, it’s been amazing for Tommy.

“This was the first event Tommy used a BRNR last year, and I remember talking to him about it, and he said he couldn’t wait to play it at Augusta next year. And he just never took it out of the bag because he’s so comfortable with it, and hitting it off the deck.

“So you look at Rory, and you want to have the tools working to your advantage out here, and the driver could hand-cuff him a bit with all of the shots you’d have to manufacture.”

So, although McIlroy might not be making a permanent switch into the new TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver Copper, he’s likely to switch into it this week.

His version is lofted at 13.5 degrees, and equipped with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7X shaft.

Spotted: TaylorMade P-UDI driving iron

It seems like the RBC Heritage is full of new gear to be spotted, and you can add TaylorMade’s P-UDI utility irons to that list.

We spotted a 17-degree P-UDI 2-iron in Nick Dunlap’s bag yesterday, and now have some photos of both the 3- and 4-irons. Nick has his P-UDI 2-iron setup with a Project X HZRDUS Black 4th Gen 105g TX shaft.

From what we can tell, this new P-UDI utility iron looks to have some of the usual TaylorMade technology as we can see the Speed Slot on the sole of the club for additional face flexibility. A toe screw is usually used to close off the hollow body design that will probably be filled with a version of TaylorMade’s Speed Foam that is present in the current iron lineup. This hollow body, foam-filled design should offer additional ball speed, soft feel, and sound, as well as an optimized CG for ball flight.

“Forged” is etched into the hosel, so we can assume that either the face, body, or both are forged for a soft and responsive feel. The club looks good from behind and at address, where we can see just a little offset and a topline that I would consider medium thickness. We don’t have the full details on what is under the hood or how many loft options will be available yet.

Tour Edge Hot Launch 524 woods: The Tour Edge Hot Launch 524 series of metalwoods once again brings together the company’s highest levels of technology, borrowed from the top innovations in its Exotics lineup, to a more budget-conscious consumer with drivers, fariway woods and hybrids that in some cases are half the going rate of many popular models. The 524 lineup includes two families, the E524 with a focus on extreme game improvement and the C524 with more traditional, compact shaping for more skilled golfers. Throughout there’s an emphasis on more ball speed across a broader section of the face. That comes from both a variable thickness face design made of dozens of diamond-shaped indentations and a central ridge the length of the crown designed to add structural stability at impact. The E524 fairway wood retails at $180, available in 16, 20, 23, 25 and 27 degrees. The C524 fairway wood retails at $180, available in 15, 17, 19 and 22 degrees.

Tour Edge Hot Launch 524 irons: Tour Edge’s Hot Launch C524 irons and wedges are designed for golfers who prefer a more classic cavity-back design. The E524 irons and wedges provide plenty of help by focusing on ease of getting the ball up in the air or, in the case of the wedges, out of the sand. Why this wedge is known as the ‘ultimate bunker club’

Legendary wedge craftsman Bob Vokey has made a plethora of game-changing scoring tools during his time in the equipment industry, but only one has earned the label “the ultimate bunker club.”

When Vokey’s K grind sole was initially introduced, tour pros saw the benefits it could produce from the sand. Boasting the widest sole in the lineup with a generous helping of bounce, the wedge made it easier to get through fluffy sand and softer course conditions.

But what about courses where the conditions bordered on exceptionally firm? Several players spoke to Vokey and Tour maestro Aaron Dill about the idea of lowering the K grind’s bounce to make it a better option when the bunker sand firmed up — and the Low Bounce K was born.

“As a result, we crafted a sole with 6 degrees of effective bounce, while maintaining the wide camber that makes the K design so effective for a wide variety of players,” Vokey said. “As soon as we brought it out on tour, it was immediately accepted and in the bags of multiple players as soon as they had a chance to test it.”

The Low Bounce K has become a yearly WedgeWorks offering for Vokey, and this year is no different. Boasting Vokey’s SM10 technology , the 2024 WedgeWorks Low Bounce K (raw finish) features 6 degrees of effective bounce for open face shots where the leading edge needs to meet ground for deft softs off tight lies.

The grind’s sole width remains wide, so golfers don’t have to worry about flubbing the ball in the bunker, especially when the sand conditions firm up. The Low Bounce K is currently played by a myriad of tour pros, including Bud Cauley, Robert MacIntyre and Danielle Kang.

“The K grind lives in the bags of some of the world’s best,” said Dill. “It has always been known as the ultimate bunker club. However, when you ask players on tour why they play the K grind, they will tell you not only do they love the performance in the bunkers, but they love the way the leading edge hugs the ground when pitching and chipping.”

Vokey continues to put a high value on spin with a TX9 groove that’s individually cut based on loft and finish. The Spin Milled cutting process, introduced last year with SM9, tightens tolerances by using a cutter to create the entire scoreline instead of a partial scoreline.

The cutter is now cutting the groove to the end of the parallel texture, as opposed to the groove edge, to give it an even more precise geometry from one groove to the next. Micro grooves individually cut in between each groove add bite on partial shots around the green, too.

Vokey’s WedgeWorks Low Bounce K ($225) comes right- and left-handed (58-06 and 60-06 degrees) and can be custom-built through Fairway Jockey .
