Spring Into Action with Cruise America

Spring hasn’t sprung yet this year, but it’s about to, and that means that the springtime RVers will soon be hitting the open road. Those who are veteran travelers already know that the most comfortable way to travel is in a motorhome, and springtime is an incredible time to do it. They also know that if you don’t have a motorhome, the best place to rent one is from your local Cruise America rental location. There is most likely one near you, as we have over 130 of them in the U.S. and Canada. If you’re not sure where to set up camp this year, we have some great ideas for an amazing spring camping trip. As an example:

Enchanted Rock State Park (Texas)

The state of Texas is home to Enchanted Rock State Park. It’s a great place to camp in the spring. It’s not too hot, yet it’s not too cold. As Goldilocks may say, “It’s just right.” It’s home to one of the largest granite batholiths in the entire U.S. That, by the way, is a very large (larger than 40 square miles) igneous intrusion extending deep in the earth's crust. Even if it were just for the magnificent views from the top of the giant rock slab, the trip would be well worth it, but there is so much more. You’ll find excellent hiking trails that circumnavigate the granite dome, which are definitely worth the time to experience them. You’ll be able to leave civilization behind and experience the Texas skies, filled with countless stars, and you’ll have plenty of tranquil time to reflect.

Oh Be Joyful Campgrounds (Colorado)

There are a myriad of beautiful campsites nestled in the mountains of Colorado, and as spring arrives, so does the lush greenery that disappeared during the winter. The new life begins to emerge, and the climate turns to a camper’s delight. One of the best of these campsites is the Oh Be Joyful Campground, located just five miles outside of Crested Butte. The seemingly endless adventures include a great number of hiking paths, world-class mountain biking, paddle boarding, fly fishing, horseback riding, skiing, four-wheel driving roads, wildlife spotting and much more. The singular name of the campground comes from the nearby stream. It features enormous waterfalls adorned with colorful wildflowers during the summer months. You should be aware, however, that there are no hookups, but that’s okay because your Cruise America RV is completely self-sustainable for some boondock camping. Oh, and not only are the 15 campsites beautiful, they’re free … on a first come, first serve basis! The campground is open year-round, although half of it is inaccessible when the Slate River is running high with the spring snowmelt runoff.

Yosemite National Park (California)

Yosemite National Park is a perfect destination all year round. However, there are a few reasons why it’s particularly incredible in the spring. First, the hoards of people that arrive in the park during the summer months haven't started to filter in, so the campsites are often peaceful and quiet. Also, the waterfalls in the park expand with the spring thaw runoff to jaw dropping proportions, making them even more extraordinary. additionally, the Yosemite Valley comes to spectacular life when the dogwood trees blossom. Be sure to book your campsite early, as this is a popular place!

At the end of the day, when you’re traveling in a rental RV from Cruise America, you’re going to have a good time. Whether you travel during the summer, spring, fall or winter, the memories you make are memories of a lifetime.
