Steps to set online appointments to visit Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi

Photo of Staff Report

The Philippine Embassy in the UAE located in Abu Dhabi states the need for Filipinos to secure their online appointments before they head there to process their passports and/or other documents.

This ‘appointment-only’ policy is in adherence to the UAE’s preventive measures and guidelines against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and helps the embassy ensure and enforce social distancing and other health regulations.

Here are the steps:

– Filipinos planning to get their passports renewed or their documents processed now have to go through an online portal to set their appointment through the following links:

> Passport renewal: https://auhpe.checkappointments.com/#/

> Notary Services: https://abudhabipe.dfa.gov.ph/sample-sites/authentication-services

– Individuals only have to register their details and receive an email confirmation of their appointment at the embassy.

– They are then required to present a printed email confirmation to present at the gate.

– Appointments are also non-transferable.

Officials state that passport appointments are free of charge. They urged Filipinos to report those who are selling passport appointment slots for legal action.

“Scheduling of passport appointment is free of charge. The public is advised to report “fixers” selling passport appointment slots so that appropriate legal action may be taken against them,” said the announcement.

Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi: A Guide

The Philippine government first established a diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi on June 17, 1980. Initially, the Embassy was situated at Al Ain Palace Hotel. It was then moved to several other places before settling on its current location at Al Qubaisat in Abu Dhabi.

At present, the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE is H.E. Hjayceelyn M. Quintana , who assumed her duties on August 20, 2018 and currently holds office at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

As mentioned earlier, the Philippine Embassy provides services to the Filipino community, particularly those who are residing in Abu Dhabi as well as in the regions of Al Ain and Al Dhafrah. These include passport services , such as:

  • Passport renewal for adult applicants (18 years old and above);
  • Passport renewal for minor applicants (17 years old and below);
  • New passport application for infants born to Filipino parents in the UAE; and
  • Replacement of lost or damaged passports.

Due to the pandemic , all passport applicants are required to book an appointment at https://auhpe.checkappointments.com/ before going to the Embassy. Moreover, everyone is reminded to provide true and correct information in the passport applications forms, and to submit complete and authentic documents. Let us remember that giving false information and submitting forged documents are punishable by law.

Aside from providing passport services, the Philippine Embassy also facilitates civil registry services , such as report of birth and delayed registration of report of birth, specifically for infants born to Filipino parents who are based in the UAE.

Moreover, the Embassy provides marriage-related services , including: report of marriage, delayed registration of report of marriage, and issuance of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage (LCCM), which is given to a Filipino national who is planning to marry a non-Filipino or a foreigner.

Other civil registry services that are facilitated by the Embassy are: petition for correction of entry in a Philippine civil registry document, re-acquisition of Philippine citizenship, report of death, and shipment of remains.

Once again, because of the current health situation, all civil registry applicants are required to get an appointment by sending an email to [email protected] before heading to the Philippine Embassy.

From time to time, you may need certain documents for employment, business, travel, and other purposes: birth certificate, marriage certificate, Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR), transcript of records, diploma, employment certificate, trade license, etc. These documents must be attested/authenticated to be considered as valid in the UAE. Fortunately, the Philippine Embassy provides notarial/authentication services when it comes to affidavits, certificates, Special Power of Attorney (SPA), and other documents.

Affidavits. Have you recently lost your passport or was it accidentally damaged? If so, then you’re going to need an Affidavit for Loss of Passport, or an Affidavit for Damaged Passport in such cases. Perhaps you need to get an Affidavit of Support and Consent to Travel ( e.g. for a minor child), an Affidavit of Support and Guarantee (ASG) or a Joint Affidavit for one purpose or another. Such documents may be acquired and processed through the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Certificates. As part of employment or travel requirements, you may need to obtain a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance for getting a Certificate of Good Conduct . Likewise, for UAE residence visa applications, you may need to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer or sponsor.

All of these certificates are attested/authenticated through the Philippine Embassy, along with other documents such as: Certificate of Appearance, Certificate of Residency and Unemployment, Certificate of Equivalency for High School, Certificate of Equivalency for College, Certification for Lost Passport, and Certification for No Philippine National Identification.

Special Power of Attorney (SPA). This is another important document that can be processed and attested/authenticated through the Philippine Embassy. You may need an SPA for NBI Clearance, School and Work Credentials, Traveling Minors, documents issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), banking, real estate, and other important concerns.

For notarial/authentication concerns, please be reminded that you need to send an email to [email protected] to set an appointment before going to the Embassy.

The current pandemic has led to the repatriation of numerous Filipinos, not only in the UAE, but in other parts of the world. Repatriation is part of the Assistance to Nationals (ATN) services provided by the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

If you or anyone you know needs to avail of repatriation, take note that the following documents must be prepared: Personal Information Sheet, Affidavit, BI Passenger Assessment Form, and Repatriation Investigation Form, along with copies of your passport data page and visa page. These may be accomplished and submitted online to the Philippine Embassy.

UAE eVisa Requirements for Citizens of the Philippines

  • Simplified Application Form
  • Expert Application Review
  • Approved visa or money back

The Ministry of the Interior of the United Arab Emirates offers an online visa to international visitors from over 140 countries worldwide. Nationals from the Philippines are eligible to obtain this travel permit for temporary visits to the UAE.

The electronic visa for the United Arab Emirates speeds up obtaining authorization to visit the UAE. Filipinos can access an online application form and receive their eVisa from the comfort of their home without needing an appointment at an embassy or consular office.

eVisa Benefits for Citizens from the Philippines Traveling to the UAE

The UAE visa policy defines the nationalities authorized to use an online visa to visit their country. Filipino passport holders can use the UAE eVisa if they are planning a holiday in the UAE. They must ensure their travel will meet the following requirements:

  • They will visit the UAE for tourism and relaxation only
  • They will only require a single entry into the country
  • Their stay in the UAE does not need to exceed 30 days
  • Their arrival date will be within 2 months of their application
  • They will enter the UAE by one of their international airports only

Citizens from the Philippines who need to stay for over a month or are seeking employment opportunities in the UAE should note the tourist eVisa does not cover these activities. In their case, we recommend contacting the Embassy of the UAE in Manila for further visa options.

Requirements for the UAE  eVisa for Filipinos

Before making any arrangements for their holiday in the UAE, we recommend reading through the visa requirements for Filipino citizens . They will find information regarding the conditions they must meet to obtain a valid travel permit and which countries they can visit with an eVisa.

The basic requirements for the Emirati eVisa Filipino petitioners must meet include the following:

  • Have a Filipino passport valid for at least 180 days on their arrival date in the UAE
  • Supply a digital image of the information page of the passport
  • Provide a passport-style photograph in color of the applicant
  • Possess a bank card to pay the eVisa processing fee
  • Use a frequently accessed email address to request the eVisa

Travelers from the Philippines should ensure their passport is valid for 6 months or more on their arrival in the UAE. If this condition is not met, we require you submit it for renewal with the local authorities before beginning the eVisa petition.

Filipino applicants should also confirm they supply a good quality color id photo and a readable digital image of their passport’s biographical page. Since the application is entirely online, we recommend checking the debit or credit card that will be used to pay the processing fee has been activated for online payments.

Filipinos must have confirmed their travel itinerary since they will be required to share their Emirates flight number, port of entry, and arrival date while filling out the eVisa form.

Application Form for the eVisa for the UAE for Filipino Travelers

Filipino citizens can request their eVisa for the UAE via an online form . It consists of straightforward questions that can be answered in 30 minutes. Some of the questions they will have to answer include the following:

  • Nationality
  • Arrival date
  • Selected Emirate for visit
  • Email address
  • Date of birth
  • Country of birth
  • Current occupation
  • Qualifications
  • Reason for travel

Filipinos will then have to share some passport details such as the ones listed below:

  • Passport number
  • Issuing country
  • Dates of issue and expiration

Visitors from the Philippines planning a family holiday in the UAE can include their dependents in a joint eVisa petition. They can list their spouse, children, or any family member over 60 under their care. They will have to supply supporting documents such as family or birth certificates to account for their request.

Filipino citizens must take care when filling out the eVisa form. They should review their answers carefully since any mismatches or missing information could interfere with their eVisa approval.

The payment of the electronic visa application is issued by a secure digital platform. Most international debit and credit cards are accepted, and Filipino petitioners must ensure their cards carry sufficient funds to cover the cost.

Processing Times for the eVisa Requests for the UAE by Filipinos

The Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates evaluates the petitions received by Filipino citizens. The resolution to their application usually takes between 24 and 72 hours.

If they have answered the eVisa form correctly and meet the requirements, Filipinos will receive an approved eVisa hosted as a downloadable link in a confirmation email. Upon receipt, we recommend printing out a copy and keeping it next to their passport and travel documents.

During busy periods such as the F1 Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi and trade fairs, the evaluation process could take slightly longer. We recommend submitting the eVisa applications at least a week before their holiday.

Traveling to the UAE from The Philippines with the eVisa

Upon receiving confirmation of their approved electronic visa, Filipino visitors have 60 days to enter the UAE. If they do not use their approved eVisa within 1 month, it will no longer be valid, and they must request a new one.

Filipino tourists should ensure they fly to the same airport and Emirate they mentioned in their eVisa petition. Once they reach arrival gates, they can head straight to the waiting lines for eVisa tourists reserved for their citizenship to save time.

They will be required to share their passport and approved visa printout to be allowed entry into the country.
