Disney Cruise Line Adult Only Experiences- Private Pool, Wine Tastings, Spa

does disney have adults only cruises

Disney Cruise Line offers so many adult exclusive experiences and areas for adults to enjoy! Since the Disney Cruise Line includes areas for kids and teens to enjoy, this gives parents the chance to enjoy time on their own. Or for adults enjoying a Disney Cruise without kids, this is a great way to enjoy the ship in adult atmospheres.

All the Disney Cruise ships include adult only areas and experiences with some variation on offerings. But most ships all include a spa, a private adult area pool and bar, coffee bar, wine tastings or cocktail classes, and adult only dining experiences. Many of these come at an additional cost but can be worth it if you are looking to relax on your cruise and indulge.

During my recent experience on a Disney Cruise I took advantage of all the adult offerings while my son enjoyed the youth areas on the ship and this guide provides an overview of all the offerings plus my review on the spa offerings, wine tasting, adult only pool areas, and more.

What Is Adult Exclusive On A Disney Cruise?

Adult exclusive on a Disney Cruise means that these experiences and areas of the ship are reserved for guests ages 18 and older. And yes, Disney Cruise cast members might ask younger looking guests to see their Key to the World card to verify they meet the age requirement.

These experiences exist so adults can have their own areas to relax because let's face it, the kids pool has a much different atmosphere than a pool reserved for just adults! And that's just one example. The dining experiences, lounges, and entertainment will have a much different atmosphere since it's reserved for adults.

Disney Cruise Exclusive Adult Pool Areas

Each Disney Cruise ship will have an adult only pool area that will include a pool, hot tub, and nearby bar.

pool on disney cruise

This area can get crowded especially in the later afternoon. If you want to enjoy the area before it gets too crowded then showing up before lunch time is the best bet. It will be most crowded after that point.

I loved this area of the ship on the Disney Dream , the hot tub was definitely the biggest perk as the hot tub in the kid's pool area is always filled with smaller kids splashing and jumping. This is the place to go if you want to enjoy a more relaxing hot tub experience!

The layout of the adult only pool sections on each Disney Cruise ship will vary but every ship does have a dedicated pool space just for adults.

Disney Cruise Senses Spa & Salon

Each Disney Cruise Line ship features the Senses Spa & Salon. Senses offers an immense wide range of services from massages, basic salon services like haircuts and pedicures, and even teeth whitening.

There's also a wide selection of cosmetic body and facial treatments offered like dermal filler, skin tightening, cool body sculpting, and Dysport (similar to Botox).

All of these services come at an additional cost and are not included in the cost of your cruise. You can also expect to pay more for these services than you would at a local salon or med spa so that's also something to keep in mind. The cosmetic treatments require a free 30 minute consultation and they will give you a price depending on that. It does appear you have some room to get the price down in those meetings so keep that in mind if you're interested.

There are also many free classes and consultations available at the spa throughout the cruise. Some of these will provide you the chance to sample the products sold in the spa (the brand of choice for most cruise lines, including Disney, is Elemis) which can be a fun way to fill an afternoon at sea. Keep in mind that these mini free classes often come with a sales pitch at the end either to purchase the products or book an spa treatment.

Guests 13 to 17 years of age can have services and treatments under 2 conditions: a parent or guardian must book the services and treatments, and a parent or guardian must accompany them for the duration of the treatment. I didn't see any teens in the spa during my time there so I am unsure how common it is but it's nice to give them the option. They do offer teen specific facials according to one of our friends on the cruise which is a nice luxury for teens to enjoy.

You can read all about the different services offered at the Disney Cruise Senses Spa & Salon on the Disney website.

Disney Cruise Rainforest Room

One area that is worth splurging in during your stay is access to the Rainforest Room!

rainforest room

You can book this per day or for the duration of your stay but it gives you access to the spa's rainforest-themed aromatherapy steam rooms, a dry sauna fashioned after a Roman bath, stone heated beds, hot tubs, and more.

hot tub on Disney Cruise

On the Disney Dream, the hot tub overlooks the water and made for such a tranquil experience.

rainforest room on disney drema

The heated stone beds were heaven to lay on!

Prices change depending on the duration of your cruise but a Day Pass to the Rainforest Room is usually around $39 per person and a voyage length pass could be as high as $189 for an eight night sailing. Passes are extremely limited in order to keep the area peaceful and not crowded. If you are interested in booking, visit the Senses Spa & Salon on embarkation day and sign up.

Adult Only Disney Cruise Dining & Lounges

All of the Disney Cruise ships have adult exclusive lounges and dining options. This is also where many adult only events take place during your cruise. Sometimes the lounges will offer all ages events but they will mainly be adults only.

As for adult exclusive dining options, these include:

  • Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement- Disney Wish
  • Palo Steakhouse- Disney Wish
  • Palo- Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy
  • Remy- Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy
  • Senses Juice Bar- Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy

Remy is popular for brunch and books up quickly. Palo is on every Disney Cruise ship so it's the dining experience that most cruisers are familiar with. Senses Juice Bar is located in the Senses Spa & Salon which makes it an easy pick me up after a spa experience.

All of these dining experiences come at an additional cost and are not included in the cost of your cruise.

Disney Cruise bar

For lounges, these will vary depending on your Disney Cruise ship. The newer ships like the Disney Wish and the upcoming Disney Treasure , feature Disney themed options like a Star Wars lounge and Disney theme park attraction lounges.

Disney Cruise coffee with elsa

Cove Cafe is an adult exclusive coffee and bar lounge which is a nice getaway for adults to enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee. And of course, you can find the lattes with Disney artwork here too.

Adult Exclusive Disney Cruise Activities

There are plenty of adult only activities on the Disney Cruise ships to enjoy during your cruise. These range in variety from Disney character drawing classes in the lounges to night club events to wine tasting. There is so much to do for adults on a Disney Cruise!

I especially appreciate how a Disney Cruise makes the adult exclusive events not just focused on alcohol. It was fun to draw a Disney character with other adults in a more serene setting than the family drawing classes.

But if you're looking for places to enjoy good drinks, all the Disney Cruise ships offer that too! You can get a great variety of cocktails on the ships including the neat champagne cocktail flight (seen above) I enjoyed with friends during our last cruise. They even served it with chocolate to pair which was a nice touch.

wine tasting

I enjoyed one of the wine tasting experiences during my last Disney Cruise which was a fun way to spend the evening at sea. The wine tasting cost $55 and included six different wines to try, a bottle of water, and a pin. The wine tasting lasted about an hour and the cast member leading the tasting was extremely knowledgable about wine.

does disney have adults only cruises

Depending on the entertainment lineup, there may even be adult exclusive version of the dinner shows. During my last Disney Cruise, one of the dinner shows featured Eric Jones Magic from America's Got Talent and Penn & Teller. The same evening, there was an adult exclusive show with Eric Jones Magic that was a similar version of the earlier show but with more adult humor. This was a really cool offering. I happened to run into Eric Jones before he performed which was a fun ‘meet and greet' in its own right.

Disney adult entertainemnt

The Disney Cruise Line app is your go to place for locating all these adult only activities during your Disney Cruise! There will be events going on each night in the lounges so make sure to look at the schedule and see what's available.

Adults can find plenty to do onboard a Disney Cruise ship whether you partake in some of the additional cost experiences or activities or just enjoy the complimentary entertainment for adults.

Not Just For Kids – Here’s Why Adults Love Disney Cruises

Jill Robbins Avatar

Jill Robbins

View of Rose Lounge on the Disney Wish from the door, adults on disney cruises

I haven’t been on a Disney Cruise without kids – my kids are 13. Yet. We’re not in the place in our vacation planning where we’d take this type of trip sans kids. But I can see my husband and I taking a kid-free Disney cruise together when the kids are grown and flown. I’ve been on eight Disney cruises, and I always see child-free groups on board.

As much as we love Disney cruising as a family, we see so little of our kids on board that it almost feels like an adults-only vacation. Here’s why adults love Disney cruises and, surprise, being obsessed with Mickey Mouse isn’t one of the reasons.

About Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line currently has five ships in service. The sixth, the Disney Treasure , is expected to sail its maiden voyage in 2024. The current ships are the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy , and the newest addition to the fleet, the  Disney Wish .

Disney Magic  and Disney Wonder  are laid out in a nearly identical manner, as are the Disney Dream and  Disney Fantasy . The Wish has a unique and different layout from the rest of the ships. The Treasure  is expected to be laid out similarly to the Wish .

Disney’s ships sail worldwide. European cruises sail from Southampton and Barcelona, and Caribbean and Bahamian cruises sail from Port Canaveral, Miami, New Orleans, and Galveston. Alaskan cruises sail from Vancouver and many more. The ports of call and routes change routinely. You can find year-round Caribbean and Bahamian cruises, and there’s typically one Disney ship in Alaska for the summer and another in Europe.

You Don’t Have To Be A Disney Adult

A Disney Adult is generally defined as an adult who loves Disney just as much, if not more, than the kids, owns a lot of Disney merchandise, and vacations at Disneyland or Walt Disney World without kids. Disney and theme parks aren’t just for kids; theme parks have a more “right there in your face” Disney energy than the cruises do.

The Disney branding is present on the Disney Cruise Line ships but is subtly presented. While you probably wouldn’t want to take a Disney cruise if you truly loathe Disney, you don’t have to be super into all things Disney to love a Disney cruise.

I travel with kids. My two youngest are in middle school, and we did our first Disney cruise when they were in second grade and in love with all things Disney Junior. I was wary of the 24/7 Disney vibe and had visions of Mickey popping out of a row of lounge chairs saying, “Hiya Pal!” when I was trying to laze on deck. It isn’t like that at all. Not one bit. The Disney theming is definitely present, but it’s very subtle. One word of advice, though. Disney cruises cater to families. While plenty of opportunities exist to do things that don’t involve kids, kids are on board.

Adults-Only Dining

Here’s a deep dive – pun intended – into the adult-only dining options Disney Cruise Line offers. There are many more options for eating on a Disney cruise but the main dining rooms, buffets, and quick-service restaurants are open to everyone.

Palo and Palo Steakhouse

Disney offers adults-only dining options on each of their five – soon to be six – ships.  Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, Disney Dream , and Disney Fantasy  have Palo, which features Northern Italian cuisine. Palo serves dinner and brunch on sea days. The Disney Wish  has Palo Steakhouse with a slightly different menu and theming.

Join our Private Disney FB Group for more tips! JOIN HERE

Pre-2020, Palo brunch was a combination of buffet and menu dining. The buffet featured appetizers and antipasto as well as dessert, and the menu had heartier fare, such as plate-sized Mickey waffles, benedicts, pizzas, calzones, pasta, and steak – in other words, a little bit of everything. Palo’s current menu is similar, but the antipasto and desserts are served from the menu. The cost of brunch is $45* per person and includes a welcome glass of prosecco or a mimosa or bellini. Absolutely worth it, in my opinion, and I don’t miss the buffet.

Dinner at Palo is a fixed-price menu. There are a variety of steak, seafood, and pasta options, all more elevated than what you’ll find in the main dining room. Get ready for spectacular ocean views – I recommend dining at sunset. And you’ll have access to a sommelier and an extensive wine list with Italian wines. Palo dinner is $50.

Palo Brunch Versus Palo Dinner?

I’m a foodie, and I enjoyed both. I like the elevated experience and the tranquil atmosphere of the Palo dining room versus the main dining rooms, but the food quality isn’t that much better than the main dining room food. If I had to choose, brunch would win every time. Brunch is spectacular.

The Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy have Remy, an elegant French restaurant named for the rat in Ratatouille . Remy serves dinner, brunch, and a dessert experience. If you do the dinner tasting experience at Remy, which I highly recommend, expect your meal to take about three hours, including desserts and the famous Remy cheese cart.

For an additional fee, wine and champagne pairings are available for dinner, dessert, and brunch. My husband and I did the tasting menu with wine pairing, and it ran us $355 per person – that’s not a typo. The dinner was $125, and the wine pairing was $230. I say it was worth it for a one-of-a-kind experience, but I probably wouldn’t book this experience again at that price point. The whole experience was delightful, although I don’t recommend it for anyone with dietary restrictions or someone who isn’t an adventurous eater with a refined palate. This isn’t your place if you’re a chicken nugget and fries person.

During our seating at Remy, we interacted with our waiter, the sommelier, and the chef. All were very welcoming and friendly and made the experience fun and approachable. However, if you’re not accustomed to truly fine dining, you might find the experience intimidating.

Enchante Sign Disney Wish, adults on disney cruises

The new Disney Wish  does not have Remy but instead has Enchanté. Enchanté by Chef Armand Lallement is an elegant, Beauty and the Beast -themed adult dining venue. Chef Lallement is a three Michelin-starred chef from Reims, France, who also curated the menu for Remy.

Enchanté is mysteriously encased behind gleaming doors in The Rose lounge on the Wish. Enchanté serves dinner, champagne brunch, and a dessert experience. The reviews and pricing indicate the experience is very similar to Remy.

Adult Dining Dress Code

Disney cruises, in general, are pretty casual, but Enchanté , Remy, and Palo adhere to a dress code. Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Dress casual attire with a polished look is permitted (such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts and blouses, and lifestyle shoes). Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear, and sports attire is not permitted.

Adult Dining Reservations

Make your adult dining reservations prior to sailing. All Disney cruisers will have a booking window for onboard activities and shore excursions, which Disney calls Port Adventures. You will want to make reservations at the beginning of this window, which means 12:01 am Florida time. If you don’t get the reservation you want before your cruise, check as soon as you board the ship.

There is a bar between Remy and Palo on the Disney Dream  and the Disney Fantasy  called Meridian. You do not need a reservation to go to the bar, which is open evenings and during the day on sea days. The Wish  has The Rose, a delightful Beauty and the Beast -themed space with ocean views that sits at the entrance of Enchanté and Palo Steakhouse.

*All prices are subject to change.

Mixology Classes and Alcohol-Tasting Seminars

It’s true – you won’t run out of things to do on Disney cruise ships, and adults can sign up for mixology classes and alcohol-tasting seminars. The mixology classes will feature a sampling of five cocktails. They are smaller portions, but if you drink all of them, you will feel it, so have something to eat before you start out and plan for a rest or a brisk walk afterward.

There are also various other tutored tasting sessions, such as wine tasting, champagne, cognac, whiskey, beer, and more. These seminars are for small groups. Sign up in advance. If there are no spaces for the tastings you want, check when you get on board.

Disney Cruise Line Bars and Nightclubs

I remember telling a friend how much I loved Disney cruising, and her answer was a horrified “But they don’t serve any alcohol.”

Let me assure you, they do. I’m not going to attempt any correlations between parenthood and drinking but let’s just say I have my doubts about whether the line would be as popular as it is if there weren’t liquor on board.

While Disney Cruise Line does not sell drink packages like some of the other cruise lines do, there are bars all over the ship, and you can get a drink absolutely anywhere you want to have one, including your room, the movie theaters, and all of the dining venues.

Bayou Lounge on Disney Wish, adults on disney cruises

Adults-Only Bars and Nightclubs

All five ships have adults-only bar/lounge areas. On the Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy , there are adults-only districts which are groupings of three to four spaces that offer live music, dancing, trivia, karaoke, game show-type games, silent disco, and other adults-only entertainment such as comedy performers or illusionists. Whether you’re looking to get involved in a game or a quiet place to have a drink, there’s a spot for you.

All of these spaces are open to anyone before 7:00 pm; after that, it’s only for the grownups. The entertainment and activities are overall PG to PG-13, so if you’re looking for racier comedy acts, you won’t find them here. The adults-only is more about the lack of kids present than “adult entertainment.”

What to Expect in a Disney Cruise Bar

The adults-only bars and lounges on the Disney Wish  work a little bit differently. The lounges have fantastic theming, but instead of being clustered in one spot, they’re spread all over the ship. These spaces are adults-only after 7:00 pm, but they’re located in areas where families with kids traffic. So, you might be sitting under a canopy of magnolias in The Bayou, a magical Princess and the Frog -themed bar enjoying a drink and seeing – and hearing – a family of six walk by. I did not find this bothersome, but if you’re a guest wanting to escape kids for a bit, you might see it differently. That goes back to my advice of maybe not choosing Disney Cruise Line if your goal is to avoid children completely.

One of the most popular bars on the  Disney Wish  is the Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge. Since all things Star Wars tend to be popular with people of all ages, expect kids in the lounge if you visit before 7:00 pm. The Hyperspace Lounge was super popular and hard to get into during the first few months the Wish  sailed, but it’s much less crowded now.

Infinity pool on Disney Wish, adults on disney cruises

Adults-Only Pool Deck

All of the Disney ships have an adult-only pool deck with a Quiet Cove pool and hot tub. I am not a big “swim in the pool on a cruise ship” person, and I’ve nicknamed the family pools “kid soup.” We do enjoy lounging on the adults-only deck and using the hot tub there, and it’s an overall peaceful place to enjoy the sun and sea breezes. The chairs and loungers fill up fast and early on sea days.

Adult-only pool deck, adults on disney cruises

None of the Quiet Cove pools are huge. The Disney Wish’s  adult-only deck seems to have the most pool space, with an infinity pool and pools with bench seating. Even so, a sea day or a Nassau Day – Disney Cruise Line passengers are notorious for staying on the ship during Nassau port stops – equals a crowded pool area.

Coffee drinks at the Cove Cafe, adults on disney cruises

The adult-only pool deck is home to the Cove Cafe on every ship. The Cove Cafe serves specialty coffees and teas. Outside of the Concierge Lounge, only accessible to Concierge passengers, and the adult fine dining venues, this Cove Cafe is your only shot at good coffee on board.

The coffee drinks at Cove Cafe are not included in the price of your cruise. However, I’ve budgeted a daily coffee treat for the cost of my cruise. The additional cost is worth it, and yes, the buffet and room service coffee is really that bad. The Cove also serves treats, except on the Wish . All other ships have a selection of pastries throughout the day and sometimes antipasto between 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The food is included in the cost of your cruise, whether you order coffee or not.

Disney’s Castaway Cay, adults on disney cruises

Adults-Only Beach at Castaway Cay

If you select Caribbean or Bahamian cruise itineraries, you’ll probably stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Castaway Cay has an adult-only beach, Serenity Bay. Serenity Bay truly does live up to its name.

All of the Castaway Cay beaches have white sand and sparking blue water, but Serenity Bay is a tranquil space to lounge in a beach chair or hammock and not see or hear any evidence of small human people. Lunch is included at Castaway Cay, and if you’re enjoying Serenity Bay, there’s no need to leave the adults-only area to get your food. A dedicated Serenity Bay BBQ has all of the same lunch fixings the main buffet locations have, with the addition of – usually – Ribeye steaks. Guests can also book spa treatments and massages on the beach, but as with every other add-on activity I’ve mentioned, booking in advance or as soon as you board the ship is key.

Disney Cruise Line is opening up a second island paradise in the Bahamas, Lighthouse Point. Lighthouse Point will be open summer of 2024, and no one has details yet on possible adult-only spaces there.

Senses Fitness Center, adults on disney cruises

Senses Spa and Fitness Center

All Disney ships have a spa and fitness center. The onboard fitness centers are 18+, so you won’t encounter kids during your workout at sea. The Senses Spa will offer a variety of spa treatments, from massages to facials to other body and wellness treatments. There is also an onsite salon that offers hair and nail services.

The spa treatments are pricey, but I’ve never had a bad one. Like most onboard activities, advance bookings are recommended, but the spa will usually have appointments if you check with them once on board. If you are committed to having a spa treatment, I recommend you attend the open house on the first day of your cruise. There is usually a drawing with prizes, although the prizes are typically a discount on spa services and not a completely free treatment. While I hate signing up to win a “prize” that requires me to pay money, if you know you want to enjoy the spa, this is a way to save a bit.

Each ship also has a Rainforest Room, which you can tour during the spa open house. You can buy day passes or passes for the duration of your cruise. The facilities vary from ship to ship, but the Rainforest Room amenities generally include steam rooms and saunas, relaxing rainfall showers, and heated ceramic loungers, which are the absolute best ever. You also get access to the spa’s shower and locker room facilities, which offer a nice roomy space to take a shower and blow-drying stations to dry your hair. One downside to cruises is getting ready in a tiny stateroom, and having a Rainforest Room pass alleviates that pain point for me.

How to Vacation on a Disney Cruise for Adults

disney-cruise-for-adults-by-the-pool

There is no vacation quite like a Disney Cruise Line vacation. While I haven’t sailed on every Disney ship, I have been on multiple Disney Cruise vacations and pride myself on navigating the ship with minimal family interaction. This may not be for everyone, but it comes in handy when you’re trying to have a relaxing Disney adult cruise. While there is no way to eliminate the interactions you will have with other guests under 18, you can plan to minimize it. This is key to having a Disney cruise adults-only feel to your vacation. Before we dive too far into details, let’s cover some basic information about Disney cruises for adults.

How Much is a Disney Cruise for 2 Adults?

  • Two adults can expect to pay an average of $3,000 to set sail with Disney. The cost of 2  D isney cruise adult tickets can vary dramatically though depending on how you want to sail. On average, you can spend anywhere between $1,500 – $2,000 per person for an average 4-day cruise. If you want a longer cruise with a nicer room, you should plan on spending around $4,500 – $7,000 per person. Disney Cruises can be pricey but if you look around, you can find great deals on Disney Cruise Line vacations.

What is the Best Disney Cruise for Adults?

  • I would recommend sailing on the Disney Wish if you’re looking for the best Disney Cruise for adults. Currently the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, it has the most Disney adult-only cruise ship locations to enjoy out of any ship. The Wish also is home to the first-ever Disney Wish adults-only infinity pool!

There are a lot of variables that go into determining the best  D isney adult cruises . This article is geared to help you better understand how to plan and what to look for when booking an adults-only Disney Cruise. But where you go and how many nights you sail will be up to you as the type of vacation you want to experience. So let’s get started with the details that will help you have the best Disney Cruise for adults!

Adult-only Areas to Know About on a Disney  Adult Cruise

hyperspace-lounge-disney-wish-cruise-for-adults-only

A Disney Cruise ship is designed with everyone in mind. With that being said, some ships are better for certain age groups and types of people. To help eliminate some of your research, if you’re looking for the best ship for a D isney adults-only cruise  I would recommend the Disney Wish or the Disney Wonder . Thankfully, any ship you sail on within the Disney fleet will have adult-only areas. It’s important to know that anyone can access these areas. But from what I’ve seen, the Crew Members are great about keeping the areas 18 years and up.

Adult Pool Deck

Every ship will have a Disney Cruise adult-only pool. On each vessel, it’s called the Quiet Cove Pool. The Disney Wish for Adults pool is located on Deck 13 in the back of the ship. This is to take full advantage of the infinity pool for the area. Every other Disney Cruise adult-only pool is located in the front of the ship on Deck 9 or Deck 13. My biggest tip for a kid-free cruise is to stay 2 decks below the adult pool on your ship. The most important reason is that you won’t have to walk across the entire ship to access the adult-only areas. Therefore limiting the interactions you’ll have to anyone under 18.

Senses Spa & Salon

The premier  D isney Cruises adults-only experience is the onboard spa, Senses Spa & Salon. This spa offers an array of services from full body massages, to facials, light cosmetic procedures, and salon services. One of the greatest things about booking an appointment is that the spa is only open to guests 18 and up. We recommend booking online as soon as you can . If the service you’re looking for is booked, don’t lose hope! You can usually still book on board the ship on your first day of sailing after 1 pm at your ship’s Planning Center.

Bars, Clubs, & Lounges

Adult-only locations on Disney Cruise ships span more than just the pools and spas. There are plenty of bars, clubs, and lounges that cater to adults. And some locations even have an age requirement to enter! Each ship has a variety of lounges that are open to all ages but cater to guests 21+. But there is also at least one designated club/bar for guests 21 and up on each ship. Out of every ship in the fleet, the Disney Wish has the most adult-centered lounges, bars, and clubs. One of my favorite D isney Cruises adult-only experiences on my last cruise was having a drink and listening to a pianist in the Cinderella-themed bar, Nightingales, on the Disney Wish.

Adult-Only Dining

The D isney Cruises adults-only restaurants are also next level! Kitchens belonging to Remi, Paulo, and Enchante are led by Michelin Star chefs and offer some of the most unique dining experiences in the world! Whether you’re looking to book a dinner to celebrate something special or just want to have a meal to remember, the exclusive adult Disney Cruises  restaurants do not disappoint. It’s important to note that booking a reservation in one of the restaurants is similar to the spa. They go fast so we recommend booking as soon as your booking window opens. If you are unable to book online, you can generally snag a reservation once you’re on board the ship!

Serenity Bay

On Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, there is an entire section of the island specifically dedicated to guests 18 and over. This section of the beach is called Serenity Bay and is located on the far left side of the island from the ship. The only downside of this adult-only Disney Cruise beach is the double-edged sword that is the location. The proximity from the ship is quite far and requires about a 2-mile walk. However, some trams take you there but they can be infrequent and hard to grab especially if it starts to rain! There is also a chance you could miss out on grabbing a chair since they are all first come first serve.  I have always found a pretty secluded spot on the family beach if you don’t want to walk or take the tram!

Adult-Only Excursions

There are  adult Disney Cruise  port adventures and excursions on almost every cruise itinerary. Adults-only activities range from snorkeling tropical reefs to touring historic sites to dining under the stars to an open-air cabana massage on the beach at Castaway Cay . You can find what specific adult-only excursions your port of call offers in the Port Adventures listings for each cruise. I have never been on any port excursion! I like to take the opportunity of a docked ship to explore and enjoy a very empty ship.

Disney’s New Lighthouse Point

Disney has purchased and will open its second private island in the Bahamas in 2024! This new destination will offer an adult-only beach, dining area, exclusive bars, and beachside cabanas.

Is there a Disney Cruise for Adults Too?

Disney-cruise-line-disney-fantasy

If you’re still wondering  are Disney C ruises fun for adults , the answer is yes! Having been on multiple Disney Cruises without children myself, I would recommend going on a Disney Cruise to anyone. They’re great for any stage or walk of life. While they are more expensive than other cruise lines out there, the one thing that keeps me going back is the service. The Disney Cruise Line has the “old school” above-and-beyond service Disney was built on. Do you want a Mickey ice cream bar at 1 am? No problem. If you want a meal you had at another restaurant three nights ago? No worries! The Crew Members on the Disney ships truly cater to your every need and are there to make your vacation one to remember!

Are Disney Cruises Worth it for Couples?

  • Yes! If you plan out your cruise ahead of time you can have the greatest adult-only Disney Cruise vacation. The number one thing to plan is where your stateroom is. If you’re able to stay anywhere on the ship, the best spot to stay is about 2 decks below the adult-only areas. This way, not only do you not have to walk across the ship to get there, but you can take the stairway up only two flights of stairs instead of waiting for the busy elevators.

Depending on where your stateroom is can have an impact on your experience. If you’re staying at one end of the ship but the adult-only areas are at the other, you’ll have to walk through common areas more often. This means that you’ll have greater exposure to families and guests under 18 and will break the adults-only Disney Cruise experience. You can stay one deck below but usually that’s where the ship’s buffet is. I haven’t experienced this, but other guests have stated you can hear the chairs scraping on the floor in the early hours as the restaurant prepares to open.

Disney Cruise for Adults FAQ

f-a-q

Q: Are there adult-only  Disney Cruises?

A: There are no cruises that are exclusively for adults only. However, there are adult-only areas on every Disney Cruise ship! You can enjoy adult-only dining, swimming, bars, nightclubs and so much more! Every ship’s itinerary will also include adult-only excursions at different ports of call throughout the sailing.

Q: Can you enjoy a Disney Cruise as an Adult?

A: If you plan and know where to stay when to book, and what to do, yes! My biggest piece of advice is to plan! Just like you would for a Disney World vacation. The good thing is that most cruise line bookings open a year in advance so there is plenty of time to plan your trip to make it as adult-friendly as possible.

Q: What are the Disney Cruise Booking windows?

A: Your advanced booking windows are determined by your Castaway Club Membership status. For first-time sailors, you can book your experiences 75 days before your sail date. Once you sail once on Disney Cruise you will automatically become a Silver Castaway Club Member. This allows you to book at the 90-day mark. From there, Gold level can book 105 days in advance, Platinum 120 days, Pearl 150 days, and Concierge guests can book 190 days before sailing.

Q: How long does it take to walk to Serenity Bay?

A: This depends on how fast you walk! It’s a two-mile walk each way from the ship to the adults-only beach on Castaway Cay, Serenity Bay. On average, it can take about 40 min each way. But if walking 2 miles isn’t part of your vacation itinerary you can take the tram from the pier!

Why You Should Consider an Adults Only Disney Cruise

Sharing is caring!

Disney Magic docked in Key West, FL

“You don’t have any kids, why are you going on an adults only Disney Cruise ?”

“Isn’t a Disney Cruise just full of kids?

“What do you do for fun on an adults only Disney Cruise”?

As a childless couple, my husband and I are used to this line of questioning whenever we mention we have booked another cruise with Disney. If you’ve ever wondered if you would enjoy a Disney Cruise without children, I’m here to assure you you will! It is one of the most fun and relaxing trips you will ever take. Whether you’re a childless couple, parents looking for a well-deserved getaway, or a group of friends looking for a great time, keep reading to discover all the ways Disney takes care of their grown-up guests!

Adult Only Areas

A frequent concern of those considering an adults only Disney Cruise is “will I be able to get away from children”? You can rest easy because DCL has done a fantastic job of creating inviting spaces just for adults.

Senses Spa & Salon

Looking for a little rest and relaxation while away from home? The crew members in Senses Spa have you covered. This full-service spa has a complete menu of services to help drive all your worries away. You can treat yourself to a full-body massage, a relaxing Mani-Pedi combo, a refreshing facial, and so much more. In need of a quick cut or blow-dry to look your best before Formal Night? The salon has you covered. Men can even get a fresh shave! The Disney Wish, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, even has a dedicated barbershop – Hook’s Barbery. Here you can enjoy a smoked Old Fashion during your cut and shave.

Hook's Barbery

Heated lounge-chairs, saunas, and aroma showers can be found inside the Rainforest Room within Senses Spa . The Disney Wish even includes a private, outdoor sundeck available for only to those with Rainforest access. You have to purchase a pass to enjoy the Rainforest Room and passes are available for either a single-day or the length of your cruise. Passes are limited to ensure you have the space to stretch out and de-stress. You’ll want to pre-purchase your pass and or head straight to the spa on embarkation day.

Rainforest Room sundeck on the Disney Wish

One more feature of the spa is the Fitness Center loaded with all the strength and cardio equipment you need to continue your exercise routines while enjoying the high seas. Locker rooms, with spacious, private showers are adjacent to the fitness center. Guests 14-17 years old can use the gym only if accompanied by an adult. So you can workout without having to constantly look over your shoulder. Group fitness classes, such as yoga and Pilates, and personal training sessions are available for additional costs. Fresh towels, bananas, and fruit-infused water is available in the fitness center. There is also a juice bar located right outside the Fitness Center near the Senses Spa welcome desk.

On each cruise, the Sense Spa staff holds a raffle for various treatments on embarkation. Check your Personal Navigator for the time of the raffle.

Adult Pool Deck

Quiet Cove infinity pool on the Disney Wish

All five Disney ships feature an area on the pool deck that is reserved for guests 18+. This area’s main feature is the Quiet Cove Pool , allowing you to take a dip without having to watch out for incoming cannon balls. The Disney Wish features a gorgeous infinity pool at the ships aft that is reserved only for guests 18 and older. There are also hot tubs available for those in need of a relaxing soak. These pools are generally open until midnight but guests should check the daily navigator for current hours.

Enjoy a dip or a drink at the Quiet Cove Pool on the Disney Fantasy

The Disney Dream and Fantasy also feature Satellite Falls , a circular wading pool with a gentle, cascading rainfall from a centralized orb. Go all the way in for a peaceful shower, or just dip your toes in while relaxing friends.

Cove Cafe is an adults only lounge on the pool deck offering specialty drinks and coffees for an additional cost. There are also a variety of fresh pastries and desserts included in your cruise fare.

Cove Cafe on the Disney Wish

Each ship also features an outdoor bar close to Quiet Cove Pool – Signals on the Magic and Wonder, and Currents on the Dream and Fantasy. Roaming servers can even take your order while you’re lounging on a deck chair.

Bars, Clubs, & Lounges

There are additional venues throughout the ship for adult guests who like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage during vacation.

Each of the original four ships has its own themed night-time district that is strictly for adults 18+ in the evenings. These areas feature a variety of venues and nightly entertainment just for grown ups.

After Hours Adult Entertainment Entrance on the Disney Wonder

The nighttime district on the Magic and Wonder is known as After Hours , the Dream is home to The District , and the Fantasy brings Europe to life in Europa. Each of these areas has its own nightclub, sports pub, and various lounges like Cadillac Lounge , a piano bar on the Disney Wonder, and Pink , a wine and champagne lounge found on the Disney Dream.

Cadillac Lounge on the Disney Wonder

Outside the nighttime district, adults can find drinks at a few other bars and lounges across the ships. These include Preludes outside the Walt Disney Theatre on all four ships where guests can grab a beverage before taking in the nightly stage performance, the Promenade Lounge on the Magic and Wonder, Bon Voyage off the atrium on the Dream and Fantasy, and my personal favorite – Meridian , an aft-facing lounge with indoor and outdoor seating located outside Palo and Remy on the Dream and Fantasy.

Disney Cruise Line completely reimagined the adult lounges on the Disney Wish. Instead of being located in one primary area, lounges and bars on the Wish are scattered across the entire ship.  The Rose,  located on Deck 11, features amazing sea views with floor to ceiling windows. This is a great spot to grab a drink before dinner at  Palo or  Enchanté,  which are both at right off of this lounge. At  the Star Wars inspired Hyperspace Lounge , on Deck 4, guests can enjoy out this world cocktails and brews while jumping into hyperspace to visit several galaxies far far away. Children are allowed in Hyperspace lounge until 9pm, after which it becomes an adults-only venue. There are several other lounges onboard including a piano bar called  Nightingales , a New Orleans-inspired lounge  The Bayou , and cafes Enchanted Sword and  Wishing Star .

Drink Specials

While DCL does not offer unlimited drink packages, there are still several ways for you to save money. Everyday there is a ‘Drink of the Day’, including classic cocktails like the Captain’s Mai Tai or Mojito. These are available throughout the day for a lower-than-usual price. Beer-drinkers can purchase a refillable 22oz. beer mug which can be refilled for the price of a 16oz beer. The best part is you don’t have to walk around with the mug as your bartender will give you a token you can exchange for a fresh beer whenever you’re ready. You get to take home either the mug or the token and bring it back on your next cruise! Your main dining servers will tell you all about the available Wine Packages which offer savings of about 25% compared to buying separate bottles. 3-, 4-, 5-, and 7-Night packages are available no matter the length of your cruise.

Serenity Bay

Perhaps my favorite of all the DCL adult-only areas is Serenity Bay , an adults only beach located on Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay . Guests 18+ can visit Serenity Bay by taking a tram down to the secluded beach area that’s full of lounge chairs and hammocks. And there are no kids in sight! You can rent floats and snorkeling gear nearby  if you’d like to explore the Bahamian Waters. There is a full-service bar serving up your favorite tropical cocktail. Servers even walk up and down the beach taking drink orders. When you are ready for lunch you can head to the nearby Serenity Bay BBQ and choose from a selection of salads, fresh fruits, grilled items, and desserts. And while the Castaway Cay 5K isn’t reserved only for adults, it is a popular activity for those looking to get in some exercise before spending the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. And whether you participate in the 5K or not, you can relax your muscles by purchasing a couples massage in a private cabana on Serenity Bay .

Rotational Dining

When it comes to dining , Disney Cruise Line goes above and beyond to cater to every guest. The main dining rooms are an experience in and of themselves. You can attend Rapunzel’s birthday while dining at Rapunzel’s Royal Table on the Disney Magic, hear live Jazz music at Tiana’s Place on the Disney Wonder, and become a Disney animator at Animator’s Palate on all four Disney ships. If you don’t want to spend dinner with loud children, opt for Second Seating as most families prefer the earlier, Main Seating. You will still see children during Second Seating, but there are noticeably fewer.

Jazz trio featured in Tiana's Place on the Disney Wonder

And no need to worry about being sat at a table with children – Disney works its magic and chooses your table mates based on stateroom demographics. You are likely to be sat with people around your age and in similar relationships as you. We have sat with other childless couples and adult friends traveling together. You can make some wonderful friends this way.  We even recently took a cruise with another couple we met when we were table mates on a previous cruise.

Disney is known world-wide for its exceptional service and that is on full display in the DCL dining rooms. Disney Cruise Line broke the traditional cruise dining model by creating rotational dining. Rotational dining allows guests to experience all three of the main dining rooms. The best part is that your service team travels with you each night. This allows you and your servers to get to know each other well. No need to explain your allergies and preferences every night to a new server. Have a gluten allergy? Don’t stress because your servers already know and have options ready for you. If you like to start your meal with a particular soft drink, it will be on the table waiting for you when you sit down. They will help you celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or any other special occasion. Your service team will become close friends by the end of your voyage!

Adult-Only Dining

Another way that Disney sets itself apart is with their adult-exclusive dining rooms: Palo , Remy , & Enchanté . All three restaurants are 18+ and have a dress-code that helps to set a more mature, intimate atmosphere. Each restaurant requires a reservation. Reservations can be made onboard, but I recommend making them before you arrive via the DCL website or app.

Open for dinner each night of your cruise, and for brunch most sea days, Palo is a fine-dining Italian restaurant that can be found on all four Disney ships. Brunch is an additional $45 while the Dinner menu offers a $45 prix fixe option or you can purchase items a la carte. At Brunch, choose from a variety of fresh foods, including tons of seafood, off the buffet as well as order from an a la carte menu. I’d recommend the Chicken Parmesan or the Eggs Benedict from the a la carte menu, and the sticky buns on the buffet are a must! The Disney Wish has a slightly different menu than the other ships as it is steak-house inspired. The dinner menu on all ships is phenomenal and you can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. But I recommend listening to the suggestions of your server. For desert – you will not regret ordering the chocolate soufflé !

Chocolate soufflé from Palo on Disney Cruise Line

Remy , an upscale French restaurant on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, offers three experiences: Dinner ($125/person), Champagne Brunch ($75/person), and a Dessert Experience ($60/person). The most popular experience is the dinner which starts with a Champagne cocktail your server prepares table-side. Your server will then lead you through multiple courses of small plates from one of two set-menus crafted by the award winning chefs. You can also choose each course a la carte if you want to customize your experience a little more. Either way, each dish presented will be of the finest quality French cuisine is known for. If that’s not enough food, you will find a small “thank you” box of chocolates waiting for you when you arrive back to your stateroom after dinner.

Seating at Remy on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream

To get the most out of your adults only Disney Cruise I’d recommend booking a dinner at either restaurant depending on which ship you are sailing on. If possible, I’d even splurge for a brunch as well!

Enchanté,  a French restaurant by Chef Arnaud Lallement, is currently only found on the Disney Wish. This gorgeous  Beauty & the Beast- inspired located features elegant décor and beautiful vistas. There are a couple of prix fixe menus available for $125 and $195. You also have the option to order a la carte items. The even have a “Just Desserts” meal for $60 per person.

Entertainment

Fun for all ages.

Cruising is my favorite kind of vacation for a number of reasons but mainly because of the balance of relaxation and fun. Disney does a fantastic job of filling the days with activities for everyone, no matter their interest. Even as an adult, there is no better place to let out your inner child than a Disney cruise. Adults are welcome to meet all their favorite characters like Mickey & Minnie, Anna & Elsa, Chip & Dale, and many more.

Meeting Chip n Dale on Disney Cruise Line

Broadway-Style Stage Shows

Be sure to check out the Broadway-style stage performances in Walt Disney Theatre featuring Tangled the Musical on the Disney Magic, Frozen the Musical on the Wonder & Fantasy, Beauty and the Beast the Musical on the Disney Dream, Aladdin – a Musical Spectacular and The Little Mermaid on the Disney Wish. Those are just a few of the award winning shows that you can enjoy on your cruise!

Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Magic decorated for Tangled The Musical

First Run Disney-Owned Films

Each ship also features a movie theater(s) showing first-run Disney-owned films, all included in your cruise fare. Here you can check out the latest from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Animation, and more! If you happen to be on a ship while a Disney movie is premiering on land, DCL will even hold a PremEAR at Sea event and show the movie at midnight the night it comes out.  You can also catch Disney films outside on the top deck on the large  Funnel Vision  screen. Some of my favorite DCL memories involve grabbing an ice cream and watching a movie under the stars!

Water Attractions

Water slides and attractions aren’t reserved just for the kids either. You can take a trip all the way around the top deck on the AquaDuck , an elevated water-coaster that goes out over the edge of the ship, on the Disney Dream and Fantasy. The Disney Wish features Disney’s first attraction at sea – the AquaMouse . Or for a more thrilling experience, check out the AquaDunk , a high speed water slide that drops you straight down 3 stories on the Disney Magic.

Aquamouse on the Disney Wish

Parties & Events

The party never stops on Disney Cruise Line with multiple deck parties and atrium dance parties occurring throughout your trip. Mickey & the Gang will get you excited for your adventure during the Sail Away Party as the ship officially sets sail. Adults should pack their best pirate gear and dance the night away during the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party on select cruises. Disney is also currently the only cruise line with a fireworks show at sea! These events are for guests of all ages so don’t hesitate to break out your boogey shoes.

Sail Away Party with Chip n Dale on the Disney Magic

Adult-Exclusive Entertainment

Ready to party with those your own age? DCL puts on adult-exclusive entertainment each and every night in the adult-only districts mentioned above. Each night the DCL entertainment team will keep you entertained with various game shows like Match Your Mate , a newlywed style game that gives you the chance to get to know your fellow cruisers very very well. Many nights will also feature an adult-orientated show from the current onboard acts, including comedians, magicians, musical acts, and more. The night usually ends with a dance party, karaoke performances, or my favorite – a Silent DJ Disco! For a more relaxed night you can check out the ship’s piano bar featuring live music almost every night.

And it’s not just at night that you’ll find adult-only activities. Throughout the day you can head to one of the adult spaces for trivia or a fantasy sports draft. You can also sign up for a beverage tasting, at an additional cost, throughout your sailing. Your bar staff will lead Mixology classes and tastings including: wine, beer, champagne, whiskey, and more. These classes allow you to taste and learn about the various drinks available on the ship. Select cruises offer  Canvas & Cocktails , a painting class where you learn to paint a Disney-inspired picture while sipping craft cocktails. In a more low-key mood? Head to the sports pub to watch a live sports event or grab an available board game.

Canvas & Cocktails adult painting class on Disney Cruise Line

Adult-Only Excursions

There are not many onboard activities offer when the ship is docked, but adults can continue doing their own thing while exploring the port. Disney Cruise Line has several port adventures that are only offered to adults. Adult-only excursions include snorkeling on Castaway Cay, rum tasting in Puerto Rico, and a trip to Blarney Castle in Ireland, to name a few.

Additional Offerings

If you’re still not convinced that you need to book an adults only Disney Cruise let me tell you about a few more extras that come along with sailing with the Mouse.

Guest Can Bring Alcohol Onboard

I mentioned earlier the plethora of bars and lounges that offer adult beverages as well as the various drink specials. But did you know that unlike a lot of other cruise lines, Disney let’s adults bring alcohol onboard? Each adult in your stateroom can carry on either two-750ml bottles of wine/champagne or six-12oz. beers. Any alcohol brought on board is to be consumed in your stateroom. This makes for a great pre-dinner drink while sitting out on your verandah!

If you need work or want to keep up with family and friends back on land, Disney does have WiFi available. Packages can be purchased for a single day or for the duration of your sailing:

  • Stay Connected : Starting at $12/day, this plan is perfect for those who are just looking to keep up with their social media accounts.
  • Basic Surf : Starting at $24/day, this plan gives guests access to social media, email, web browsing, and audio calls.
  • Premium Surf : Starting at $36/day, this plan supports faster internet connect, gives the ability to make video calls, and view short-form videos on platforms like YouTube, Snapchat, and TikTok.

There is a Connect @ Sea desk that offers internet support should you ever need it throughout the cruise.

DCL Navigator App

Another great feature of DCL is the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App that you can use onboard without having to purchase any WiFi. You can use the app to see a schedule of activities, check out menus, send messages, and more. You can also use the app prior to setting sail to book port adventures, make adult-dining reservations, select spa services, or even buy in-room gifts that will be there waiting for you once you embark.

And finally, adults should not overlook the shopping Disney Cruise Line has to offer. You can of course purchase the typical Disney souvenirs like Mickey ears and t-shirts, as well as cruise line-exclusive items. You can also purchase high-end items such as nice set of luggage, watches & jewelry, as well as duty-free alcohol and perfumes. Duty-free alcohol purchased is not able to be consumed while onboard and will be held until the end of your cruise.

Time to Set Sail!

Reconnect on an adults-only Disney Cruise

As you have now read, DCL has so much to offer to their adult guests. Whether you want to let your inner-child loose or to relax and recharge your batteries, you can find exactly what you are looking for on Disney Cruise Line. Perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary trip, an excuse to leave the kids with the grandparents, or just a fun getaway with friends. Disney Cruise For Adults: What to Experience on DCL Without Kids

' src=

We're living proof Disney Cruise Line (DCL) is for adults too. All our experiences sailing on their ships have been without children. A Disney cruise without kids is a lot of fun for an over 18 years old aged crowd as much as it is for an under-18 crowd.

What You Can Expect Sailing on a Disney Cruise Without Kids

Are Disney Cruises fun for adults? You better believe it! If you're searching for one of the best cruises for adults, be sure to include DCL in your list if you're a fan of the Disney brand because we're telling you: it's great for adults, not just kids. Read on to find out why.

Over of Adults-Only on a Disney Cruise, Without Kids

★ Click on a menu item below for a detailed read about that particular point, or simply keep scrolling to read the entire article.

We have often heard the same criticism from people who have preconceived notions of Disney Cruise Line (DCL): it's full of kids. Or it's just for kids. That couldn't be further from the truth. As two people who have sailed with Disney Cruise Line many times, each Disney cruise without kids, we can speak to what it's like to cruise on the high seas with Disney sans children.

From adult-only experiences, spaces, and shopping to decor only adults will appreciate, it's a wonderful option for anyone who appreciates superior service, design, and entertainment.

✦ Children…Are Not Everywhere

The best thing about Disney Cruise Line in terms of children — for the sake of the adults and kids on the ship — is they are designed to accommodate kids. This means they have specific areas for kids. Different age groups of kids can spend all day and night in the areas of the ship designed just for them. This means they are confined to the kids' areas that adults cannot visit…and they're happy to be there!

The back of the Disney Dream Cruise ship with Sorcerer Mickey on the back.

Infants to teens have designated care and clubs. For instance, there's a group for babies that still nap in cribs, another area for toddlers, one for pre-teens, and another for teens.

Unless you're dropping your child off at one of these areas or you're on your way to a meal and standing in line amongst a group of adults with their kids, you don't encounter children any more than on any other cruise. (The exception is if you're on a river cruise or yacht cruise , whose minimum age requirement to be a guest is 18 years of age or older. Then of course there are strictly no kids.)

✦ You Can Bring Your Own Alcohol Onboard

Did you know Disney Cruise Line is one of the only large cruise ship lines that allows adults who are 21+ to bring alcohol onboard on embarkation day? And you can bring more alcohol onboard when you stop at a port! How's that for Disney adulting?!

You can bring beer and/or wine onboard in certain quantities. Check out our Disney Cruise Line Embarkation Day post for more information regarding what the alcohol allowance is per guest.

✦ Awe-Inspiring Disney Cruise Line Ship Details Only Adults Appreciate

Though there aren't specifically “adult Disney cruises,” there are many, many elements of Disney cruise ship designs that only adults would appreciate.

Adults are the main audience for whom the splendor was designed. They're the ones who can truly appreciate the ships' aesthetics and architectural plans. When was the last time you heard a child say, “The color palette Disney chose for this atrium is stunning! Look at the geometry of the chandelier. I love this ship's Art Deco design!” Never, that's when!

(Psst: If the term “atrium” is unfamiliar to you, that's okay! Here are some essential cruise ship terms you should know.)

We were particularly struck by the Imagineer Disney Wish design details , which inspired us to sign up for a walking tour of the ship to learn more. We've taken the tour twice, and not a child was to be found on either tour.

The ships are pristine, and the crew is continuously concerned with their upkeep. I've stayed on a DCL ship when it's in port, and most guests are ashore for day excursions; it's during this time I've seen workers repainting signs and doing extra hallway cleaning in the name of ship upkeep. It's really impressive.

Inside a cabin stateroom on Disney Wish cruise ship, adults, only, with a man standing by the wall past the bed in the distance.

The cabins are also very smartly designed and bigger than your average ship cabin on competing cruise lines. (If you need to use your space even more smartly, here are great suggestions on what to pack and how to pack for your cruise.)

The interior design of each stateroom is elegant and chic; Disney touches are subtle and tasteful.

✧ Will You Appreciate the Disney Touches if You're Not a Disney Fan?

Let's face it — if you are not a Disney fan, it's unlikely you'd be interested in a Disney cruise. It's more likely that someone in your life, whether a partner, best friend, or extended family member, is pushing the cruise.

does disney have adults only cruises

There are plenty of Disney touches around the ship subtle and obvious. For argument's sake, however, say you're going on a DCL cruise with your family, who chose the vacation for you. Perhaps it's a big family reunion or wedding sailing with more than six or ten people. Fret not. Great art is great art, no matter the subject matter, as is great design.

If you appreciate Disney animation prints on the walls, handpainted murals (that may not have to do with Disney at all), or incredible mosaics from artists who worked to create something special, you might fall in love with the ship's attention to detail.

Only adults can appreciate the subtle Mickey Mouse shapes in the railings or the instrumental versions of Disney classics that play in the hallways. Or the beautiful tapestries created for some walls of Disney Wish. Or the custom carpet everywhere. Be open to the wonder of it all and soak up the details only you, dear adult, can appreciate when you are on a Disney Cruise Line vessel.

✦ Superior Disney Cruise Line Crew

The cast and crew members on the ship are 100 times better than those at the parks.

I've noticed the quality of Disney Cast Members at the parks, as a whole, has declined over the years. (Sorry to say that because it's sad but true even though there are plenty of incredible Cast Members.)

We suppose it's a sign of American culture overall and generational changes. But smiles, friendliness, and politeness are at an all-time high on the ships. No request is too great, no matter too small. They're phenomenal. And when you're an adult cruising with Disney, you want to feel well taken care of on vacation by the staff and the brand.

From the moment you check in online for your Disney cruise to port arrival to every day you spend on the ship, you get a little sparkly feeling interacting with Disney Cruise Line. You quickly notice how friendly and extra caring the DCL crew is.

✦ Spaces Exclusive to Adults Aboard Disney Cruise Line (No Kids Allowed)

✧ senses spa and senses fitness.

There's a spa onboard every ship that's just for adults, along with a fitness center. Senses Spa and Fitness is an incredibly quiet, peaceful area.

Disney Cruise Line has realized how important the spa is, especially for an adult-only Disney cruise element, that they have expanded things like the Rainforest Room on new ships. It's quite an impressive area on Disney Wish.

Note that Senses Spa requires paid access for a spa pass or treatment like a massage. Senses Fitness is open to any guest who wants to work out. Some fitness classes are free and some require a payment. You can sign up for classes in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app when you are onboard the ship.

✧ Adult-Only Quiet Cove Pool (and Hot Tub)

There's a pool area on each of the Disney Cruise Line ships strictly for 18 and older guests to enjoy called Quiet Cove Pool. Some cruise lines charge extra for an area like this but on DCL it's included in your cruise fare.

Usually, there are at least two hot tubs on DCL ships. One is for all guests (including teenagers) and the other is in the Quiet Cove Pool area, only for adults.

Looking down on a circle pool on the top deck of a cruise ship, an adult-only area for people on Disney cruise, without kids.

I've seen Cast Members, first-hand, kindly ask guests in the hot tub their age after realizing they looked younger than 18. As an adult myself, wishing to be kid-free in adult-only areas, I really appreciated that.

Part of Quiet Cove Pool is Cove Cafe. This retreat is a cafe dedicated to adults, where you can relax with gourmet coffee, tea, and specialty drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) throughout the day. I love getting an iced mocha in this area on a hot day in the Caribbean , for example.

✦ Disney Cruise Line Adult-Only Activities

There are plenty of adult-only activities to enjoy, proving that Disney Cruise Line is for adults too but also that the ships' creators cared enough about them to focus on adult-only fun.

There are trivia nights for 18+, nightclubs, and specialty tastings (yes, with alcohol), to name a few. DCL also offers  adult-only excursions at some ports . We've seen a newlywed-type game or two get pretty “suggestive” in narration from the hosts on DCL!

Disney has made adult-only programming a focus as they have added more ships to the fleet. Evidence of this is Hook's Barbery on Disney Wish . It has a bourbon and whiskey bar inside, and they host tastings there. Guests can sign up for a tasting for an additional charge.

Other examples of DCL adult activities like this are martini tastings, chocolate and liquor tastings, stem-to-stern wine tastings, and more. Not every beverage tasting is available on every cruise but there are always some.

✦ Adult Shopping Onboard Disney Ships

One of our favorite things to do on a cruise ship is peruse the watches for sale. There's always an area on the ships for adult-only jewelry, including watches, Pandora charms, designer handbags, and more. Duty-free shopping is a highlight for many on any cruise.

✦ Exclusive Restaurants and Bars for Adults, Without Kids, on Disney Cruises

Disney focuses on culinary excellence, whether in their theme parks or around their Walt Disney World property . Most dining areas aboard Disney cruise ships are for every guest, regardless of age. But there are plenty of dining options for adults only .

Table with cocktails and a bottle of champagne on the right during dusk, as adults-only on Disney Cruise Line.

Some restaurants and bars are adult-exclusive restaurants all the time, while others become adults-only after a certain hour. After hours, live entertainment, silent discos, and age-appropriate trivia are available in adult-focused venues.

The restaurants Palo (on various Disney Ships), Remy, and Enchanté are guest favorites. You can have Palo Brunch or Dinner , and dinner at the other restaurants. We love to get dressed up a bit nicer than the main rotation dining restaurants, have an alcoholic beverage before dinner, and do a little fine dining while enjoying it all kids-free. These restaurant experiences incur an additional cost, but they are worth every penny!

Additionally, some DCL ships have exclusive areas that are adults-only, which bear a special location name. They are:

  • The District on Disney Dream
  • Europa on Disney Fantasy
  • After Hours on Disney Magic and Disney Magic

What to Expect on Castaway Cay During an Adult-Only Disney Cruise

If you're sailing in the Caribbean with DCL, it's likely that your Disney cruise, kids-free, will make a stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.

You'll be delighted to know that there's an adult-only beach, called Serenity Bay, area that's so private and quiet you'll forget there were any kids at all on your sailing, let alone the island. For a real indulgence, book a beach massage through Senses Spa.

There's also an area by this beach for an adults-only lunch.

Adults Can Be Kids during a Disney Cruise…If they Want

If you are an adult who wants to feel like a kid on a Disney cruise, it's up to you. There are plenty of opportunities to order Mickey ice cream bars, see characters if you should choose to have a photo taken with Pluto or Tiana, for instance, or stay up to midnight on Disney Wish to see the “Kiss Goodnight” in the Grand Hall.

Want to see Mickey and Minnie dancing on stage? No problem — head to the Sail Away party! But if you don't want to, you can also completely miss the Sail Away party (as in not even hear or see any part of it whatsoever) and relax with a beer or cocktail at one of the many bars on your Disney cruise ship.

✧ Do you See Characters Everywhere You Go on a Disney Cruise?

If you the terminal waiting to embark on your Disney Cruise and happen to be there when Mickey or Minnie pops out for photo opportunities, you may see a character. If you go to the pirate night to see the fireworks from the ship, you may see a character on stage.

Minnie Mouse in a sailor outfit in front of a scale model of the Disney Cruise Line ship.

But otherwise, you have to look at the daily Navigator schedule to really find characters. There have been cruises I hardly see any characters at all.

You don't see them unless you're specifically on the prowl and in the exact designated location at the exact time the Cruise Navigator says they'll be appearing. Which, if you think about it, is kind of the same way it is at the Disney theme parks .

✦ Get Ship Ready: Secure your Disney Cruise Line Gear!

Another way to feel like a kid while still adulting is to be a Disney Adult and plan your Disney Cruise Line outfits, tumblers, and more before you're even on the ship.

Check out Etsy's awesome DCL gear and also Amazon's cool Disney-themed attire and cruise essentials!

Conclusion of Enjoying a Disney Cruise Without Kids

You'll be wowed by Disney Cruise Line's opportunities to enjoy your cruise experience without kids.

So even if you're just an adult there to have a great time, with a love for the Disney brand, you'll enjoy the adult-only pools and cafe, the adult-only programming and nightclubs, and bars too. You'll even appreciate Castaway Cay from a different perspective!

I went on a Disney cruise as an adult without kids. Here's what it was like.

  • Nicole Cruz went on a Disney cruise without kids. She was worried it would be more for families.
  • The cruise ship provided a lot of activities for adults and there was always something to do.
  • However, it was a lot of Disney and by the end Cruz said she felt "Disney'd out."

Insider Today

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Nicole Cruz, a 25-year-old cruise-goer who went on the Disney Cruise for the first time. It has been edited for length and clarity.

I've been on a total of three cruises. Previously, I had only ever been on Royal Caribbean cruises, but recently I went on a Disney cruise line with a close friend. We've taken other cruises together in the past, and since we both enjoy Disney, he convinced me to go, too.

We decided on Disney Magic, which is Disney Cruise Line's original and oldest ship. Before boarding I was prepared to see a lot of kids — I've always thought that Disney Cruises are more of a family thing or something you would only do with children.

But once I got on, I was surprised to see that there weren't as many kids as I thought. Instead there were a lot of adults and the cruise ship provided a lot of adult activities.

There were a lot of adult activities

As an adult, I felt like I never ran out of things to do. There were adult lounges, bars, trivia nights, disco nights and game shows, too. All of these activities were made for those over the age of 18.

For me, I think the most memorable activity was the dating show. During the show, they picked three couples from the crowd and asked the women a handful of questions while the men stood in another room.

Related stories

They then brought them back together in the room and asked them the same questions to see if their answers matched. They asked things like: If you could leave a member of your spouse's family on a deserted island, who would you pick? It was all fun, silly, adult questions and I really enjoyed it.

I also participated in a nightclub activity they had on board. The event had a bar, a little dance floor, a bunch of seating and it had a DJ, too. The downside was it started at 12 a.m. and ended at 1 a.m., so the whole thing only went for an hour.

With that said, I didn't think the Disney cruise provided too much of a night life experience if that's what you're looking for. They also didn't have a show for the second night, which would have been great as the shows were very impressive.

The food was decent, and it was better than the Royal Caribbean's food, in my opinion. You can taste the difference in quality.

The drink package on Disney Cruise

One thing I also noticed with Disney Cruise is they don't offer a drink package in the way most cruise ships do. I was a little worried about how much I'd be spending on drinks.

But the drinks were reasonably priced. Instead of paying $20 for a drink like you usually do at the Disney parks, I only paid around $9 a drink. At the end of the trip, I only spent an extra $127 and that included other things I purchased on the cruise too.

When to book to save money

Disney cruises are known for being a bit expensive. I spent just over $1,000 for our inside stateroom, even though we took our cruise during September, hurricane season, to save some money.

For comparison, when cruising with the Royal Caribbean, I've typically paid around $400 per person for my room. However, the inside staterooms on Disney Magic were also bigger than the inside staterooms on the Royal Caribbean.

I also noticed that there were far fewer college kids compared to the Royal Caribbean — I think that's partly because of how expensive it was. To me, this was a perk because even though I like to party, it was nice being on a cruise that was quieter and felt relaxing.

In my opinion, while the price difference is significant, Disney Magic was worth the value.

The only downside of the Disney cruise

I will say it was a lot of Disney and it was very in your face. There are Disney characters everywhere, and it felt like there was a character in every corner.

At times, they even brought out all the characters for interactions with the guests, and it was very up-close and personal. Towards the end of my Disney Cruise, I felt very Disney'd out.

Still the Disney Cruise provided good value, offered a good service and I was impressed by the shows and the decent food.

5 BIG Changes on the Disney Wish Cruise Ship for Adults

' src=

Wishes do come true, even if you're an adult, aboard the brand NEW Disney Wish. The newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Wish, sets sail on its inaugural cruise on July 14, 2022. Disney invited a slew of media personnel to sail aboard for the Christening Cruise and we explored everything that's new on the Disney Wish for adults.

If you've sailed with Disney Cruise Line before you've probably scoped out the newest ship a little. As someone who has sailed on every Disney ship, except for the Fantasy, I can say without question that the best ship is the Disney Wish for adults. The adult areas on this ship are smartly designed and reconfigured to make things more convenient than ever before.

Note, we were invited aboard the Disney Wish for a special media event during the Christening Sailing. Our cruise fare was complimentary as was our food, however, specialty drinks and other specialty experiences were not part of the package and were therefore paid for on our own.

1. Adult Lounges on the Disney Wish

First and foremost, the design and layout of the Disney Wish are brilliant. Finding your way on a cruise ship you've never been on before is sure to be bewildering. Be patient with yourself as you get acquainted.

Most importantly, if you're a parent looking for a way to balance family time with adults only time, Disney's newest ship makes it even easier than before. The Oceaneer Club is a kids club for ages 3 -11. And now on the Disney Wish it is located on Deck 2 – which seemed inconvenient to me at first. And yet it is actually genius.

Kids can enter the Oceaneer Club using a clear, slide themed to Alice in Wonderland. The kids club slide goes from Deck 3 to Deck 2. Parents can check in their kids on Deck 3 and watch them slide down right to the desk at the Oceaneer Club, and then walk a few steps to 3 different adult lounges!

On Deck 3, mere steps from the slide to the Oceaneer Club, are three distinctly different lounges for adults. The Bayou is the main lounge, and one of the largest on the Disney Wish. The gorgeous details inspired by the movie The Princess and The Frog create an immersive atmosphere and there is a stage for live music in the evenings. The signature drink is The Hurricane and it is delectable!

The Bayou Lounge on Disney Wish features a fake magnolia tree on the ceiling and rich green furnishings

Nightingale's

Nightingale's is also on Deck 3 and is in fact the closest lounge to the Oceaneer Club check in. You can see it from The Grand Hall which is more than the ship's lobby, it is a beautiful space that towers three decks. The Grand Hall serves as a gathering space and entertainment area. It is full of Cinderella details, and Nightingale's Lounge continues that theme. Try one of the Ice Bubbles cocktails which involves pouring the cocktail into an ice orb that you gently break into the glass to enjoy your handcrafted drink.

Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge

The last lounge on Deck 3 is the Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge which is the most unique lounge on any cruise ship, anywhere. It is fully Star Wars themed and truly immersive.

Danny Handke is a senior creative director for Walt Disney Imagineering and spoke to us about the design of Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge. During a panel discussion, Danny Handke described Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge as a more elegant place within the Star Wars universe as opposed to grungier Star Wars Cargo Bay for the kids on Deck 2. Danny Handke describes the lounge as a place for adults to play within the Star Wars universe.

Looking at the bar with video screen showing star wars ships and planets at Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge on Disney Wish

The drinks are truly creative, something you won't find anywhere else on the Disney Wish ship. There are also specialty beers only available in the Hyperspace Lounge.

Star Wars fans with a keen eye are sure to find details everywhere they look . My husband and I loved watching the large “window” screen behind the bar that would show us going into hyperspace every so often. We spotted several ships from Star Wars movies, TV shows, and even theme park attractions.

The Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge can feel small, but its size makes sense for being on a cruise ship, and being themed as a lounge on a starcruiser. Check the hours of operation and get your name on the list as soon as you can.

Enchanted Sword Cafe and Wishing Star Cafe

Just off The Grand Hall, you'll find two charming cafes that double as an elegant coffee shop and relaxing lounge .

On deck 4 is the Wishing Star Cafe, themed after Pinocchio. And on deck 5 is the Enchanted Sword Cafe themed after the Sword and the Stone animated movie. Both of these cafes / lounges have the same core menu and offer specialty coffees as well as cocktails.

gold details and blue toned furnishings at the Enchanted Sword Cafe on Deck 5 of the Disney Wish

I wanted the best of both worlds and ordered a “Brew Fashioned” cocktail which is essentially an Old Fashioned made with cold brew coffee. It gave me the perfect way to kick off an elegant evening on the ship.

Bonus!  Practically every single bar on the Disney Wish has charging ports, most of them are USB ports. So bring along your charging cable while you recharge yourself, and your device.

Keg and Compass

On Deck 5 forward (towards the front of the ship) awaits a nautical-themed pub. I stumbled on the Keg & Compass on the second day of our media cruise and instantly fell in love. Every Disney cruise ship has a traditional or modern pub, and Keg & Compass represents the next evolution in this concept.

The details in this space are astounding. There are wood carvings around each porthole window , featuring an octopus and a humourous Disney detail. Maps, charts, compasses, and plenty of other details will keep your eyes gazing when you're not gazing lovingly into each other's eyes.

Keg and Compass Pub for Adults on Disney Wish wood carvings and nautical details

The drinks here are robust. Scrumptious elevated pub grub is also available and is one of the few food items not included in your cruise fare.

Fans of Epcot must visit this spot. There are multiple items that pay homage to Maelstrom , the former boat ride at the Norway Pavilion.

The Rose Lounge

As with previous Disney Cruise ships, the best place for adults to relax is deck 12 aft (the back of the ship). You'll find the adults only pools and sundeck on deck 12, and there are two incredible adults-only restaurants on this upper deck too.

And while these special restaurants require reservations, and cost extra, The Rose Lounge is available without reservations and sits just outside the entrance to these two restaurants. It is by far the most elegant and romantic lounge on the Disney Wish.

The Rose Lounge for Adults on Disney Wish has rich jewel tones and gold, and panoramic windows overlooking the ocean

An impressive wine list and sophisticated cocktails await to be sipped as you gaze out over the sea through panoramic windows . My husband and I had a hard time deciding where to look: the gorgeous rose-themed bar or the sparkling ocean before us.

The one thing that is missing in this area is a selection of beer. The wide array of classy spirits and wine are the focus here. Thankfully our magnificent bartender, Kelvin, kindly acquired some craft beer for my husband to enjoy.

2. Quiet Cove Infinity Pool

The tradition of an adults-only pool and sundeck area continues on the Disney Wish. This time the adults only pool is a small infinity pool. This marks the first infinity pool ever on a Disney cruise ship. This infinity pool overlooks the back of the ship – a pretty amazing view.

The adults-only pool area feels a lot smaller than the other Disney cruise ships. There are two shallow pools with gentle waterfalls that flank the infinity pool. You can grab a drink from the lovely lounge right by the pools and the Cove Cafe coffee shop just around the corner, with an elegant Moana / Polynesian theme.

Although the pools are smaller than I would have liked, there are lots of lounge chairs throughout the wrap-around sun deck, making deck 12 entirely adults only.

Adults Only Sun Deck on Disney Wish

There is another pool on deck 14, forward – at the front of the ship. However, this pool is for everyone and is called Chip N' Dale's pool. I mention it for adults because it is far away from the main family pools and is relatively quiet. It is a wading pool, only 2′ in depth, but it is wide, round, and offers beautiful views from the front of the ship. Plus, there is a lounge right there so you can sip on something cold while wading in the shallow pool.

3. Disney Wish Senses Spa

My favorite way to relax on vacation, especially on a cruise, is to indulge in the spa. I especially love spending time with my husband in plush spa robes soaking up the spa atmosphere. And each Disney Cruise ship has a Senses Spa.

RELATED: The Best Spas in Orlando for Couples

The Senses Spa on the Disney Wish is the biggest yet. Not only is the spa itself bigger, but the signature Rainforest Room is also expanded. What's more, the Rainforest Room extends outside. Put your mind and body at ease with scented showers, heated tile lounge chairs, hot tubs , and more.

Senses Spa Outdoor Rainforest Relaxation Area on Disney Wish

Two new salons on the Disney Wish made it possible for the Senses Spa to expand. Untangled Salon and Hook's Barbery are on deck 4 and offer a gorgeously themed space to enjoy services like manicures, pedicures, and more.

4. A Hidden Bourbon Bar on Disney Wish

Speaking of Hook's Barbery , you'll find something surprising here. A “hidden” bar can be found right here. Whether you book a service here or not, stop in for a hand-crafted bourbon Old Fashioned that you get to help design. And if you are receiving a service at Hook's Barbery take it to the top-notch by adding on this bourbon bar experience.

Custom Made Chocolate Cherry Old Fashioned at Hook's Barbery on Disney Wish

You'll get to hand pick each ingredient, or if you prefer, let the expert bar tender guide you. In our case, we ended up creating the most expensive drink of our cruise. At $25 the “chocolate cherry Old Fashioned” made for the most sophisticated drink to cap off a lovely date night on the ship.

5. Adults Only Restaurants on Disney Wish

Disney Cruise Line is known for providing the perfect balance of family experiences and adults only indulgences. As a mom who values quality time with my son and also quality time with my husband, I find a Disney cruise to be the best way to have it all. Sure, it is among the priciest cruises out there, but I can say without question it is one of the few vacations in which I can truly relax.

One way I like to spend quality time with my husband on a Disney cruise is with an elegant dinner at one of the adults only restaurants. On the Disney Wish are two restaurants just for guests 18 and older. You can either purchase a prix fixe dining experience or order a la carte.

Palo Steakhouse

Palo Steakhouse reimagines the classic Palo restaurant on all other Disney cruise ships. Disney invited me and my husband to dine here on the Wish Christening Cruise. After countless meals at the classic Palo over the years, I felt some trepidation at the thought of a new version of Palo. Palo Steakhouse is more modern than the previous iterations and is every bit as relaxing and sophisticated.

Palo Steakhouse Dining Room with panoramic windows on Disney Wish

The service we experienced at Palo Steakhouse is unmatched. In my many years, I have learned to listen to a server's recommendations. They spend their working hours hearing the opinions of diners of all walks of life, and so their recommendations often lead to hidden gems that flawlessly please.

At our server's recommendation, we selected the Angonotti pasta to share in between our appetizers and our entrees. It tasted like all four seasons of the year put onto one plate with butternut squash, sage brown butter, buffalo mozzarella, basil, and amaretti.

Agnolotti Pasta at Palo Steakhouse on Disney Wish

Our server also kindly recommended the Amorone Sartori wine to pair with the Veal Osso Boco. Without exaggeration, it is one of the best wine pairings of my entire life. There are over 200 different labels of wine available at Palo Steakhouse.

We tried two new desserts, Carrot Cake and Tiramisu – both of which are much different than you'd imagine. In the end, when I return to Palo Steakhouse I will stick with the legendary Chocolate Soufflé that's been a staple of Palo for decades.

Palo Steakhouse is available for dinner or brunch, both of which require advance reservations.

Also on the Disney Wish is Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement , who is one of only 137 chefs with three Michelin stars. At this opulent restaurant, you can savor an incredible dinner, brunch, or dessert experience.

With these new spaces for adults only, the Disney Wish is truly a place where wishes come true.

New Adult-Only Experiences Aboard the Disney Wish Revealed

  • July 29, 2021

Disney Wish Quiet Cove scaled

Disney Cruise Line has unveiled new experiences for adults sailing aboard its newest ship, the Disney Wish, in summer 2022.

According to a press release, in addition to a previously announced Star Wars-themed lounge and fine dining experiences inspired by “Beauty and the Beast,” the 2,500-passenger ship will debut a variety of new venues for adults, including the fleet’s first outdoor spa retreat, salon and barbershop experiences, and a collection of bars and lounges.

“With the Disney Wish, we wanted to design an experience that allows our grown-up guests to relax, recharge and reconnect in unique ways that only Disney Cruise Line can create,” said Laura Cabo, portfolio creative executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “(W)e added more variety and made them more accessible than ever before. This ship has truly been designed with adults’ vacation needs in mind, and I know our guests are going to return home feeling refreshed after their Disney Wish vacation.”

A new addition to Disney, Senses Spa, will feature a dedicated outdoor relaxation space with whirlpool spas, plush loungers and yoga sessions. This open-air space is a new extension to Disney Cruise Line’s Rainforest experience, which has been reimagined for the Disney Wish. The Rainforest will introduce the fleet’s first ice lounge, allowing guests to combine thermal therapies. It will also include heated ergonomic loungers, sensory spa showers and sauna, steam and dry chambers.

Senses Spa will also feature private treatment rooms and spa villas for couples. In addition to a menu of massage, facial and acupuncture therapies, guests will be able to select from a menu of specialized treatments customized to their needs, such as pain management and sleep improvement.

Adjacent to the spa, the reimagined Senses Fitness will offer exercise and wellness facilities, including a main room with exercise equipment, a dedicated cycle studio and an aerobics room.

Salon and Barbery

The Disney Wish will premiere two brand-new salon experiences — the fleet’s first standalone venues for hairstyling and beauty services — where adults can treat themselves in inviting, social environments that have been uniquely designed with inspiration from classic Walt Disney Animation Studios films.

Untangled Salon

At Untangled Salon, adults can let their hair down and have it styled any way they want, Disney said in a press release. Inspired by Disney’s animated princess Rapunzel, this salon will be adorned in shades of purple and gold, decorated with floating lantern light fixtures and outfitted with privacy screens depicting Rapunzel’s own paintings.

In addition to haircuts and styling, Untangled Salon will also offer manicures, pedicures, teeth whitening and skin treatments.

Hook’s Barbery

Hook’s Barbery will be a unique twist on a traditional European men’s salon, offering cuts, shaves, and nail and skin care. Decked out in dark woods, leather chairs and golden mirrors, the space will brim with narrative details inspired by another Disney character, Captain Hook: an inlaid wooden map of Never Land, a hidden pocket watch and a hook, among others.

Hook’s Barbery will also feature a hidden bar serving bourbons, vintage whisky and port, aged rum and premium spirits.

The Disney Wish will also offer a collection of relaxed and refined bars and lounges reserved exclusively for adults each evening. For the first time, Disney said, these venues will be spread out among the ship’s other core gathering places for a more flexible experience that will allow adult guests more opportunities to enjoy “me time” throughout their cruise.

Keg & Compass

Keg & Compass is a pub that, according to the press release, celebrates the adventure and romance of the sea, designed in the style of a late 1800s Norwegian sailor’s map room. Drawing inspiration from the rich folklore of Norse seafaring, period-style oil paintings will depict tales of the deep and intricate carvings of tentacles, barnacles, compasses and more.

Spanning the entire ceiling will be an old maritime-style map that features a homage to Disney characters and stories related to the sea. In addition to such characters as Ursula and Moana, the map will call out important locales related to The Walt Disney Company and the design and construction of the Disney Wish.

Guests will be able to watch live sports, news and major broadcast events while sampling a specialized selection of beers, including three custom craft brews available exclusively aboard the Disney Wish, along with an assortment of liquors, wines and cocktails.

Nightingale’s

According to Disney, Nightingale’s is a refined piano bar inspired by Cinderella’s lyrical rendition of “Sing Sweet Nightingale” in the 1950 film. It offers fine wines, bubblies and hand-crafted cocktails.

Classically modern with a soft metallic palette, the predominant design feature will be a glittering chandelier above the piano. This lounge will be a thematic extension of the fairytale-inspired Grand Hall from which it stems.

The Bayou is an informal New Orleans-inspired lounge themed to “The Princess and the Frog.” Its design includes magnolia blossoms, lily pads and a canopy of twinkling fireflies overhead, as well as a bronze statue of each character and two gazebos inspired by the city’s iconic wrought iron metalwork structures.

This venue will offer cocktails, coffees and beignets in a “lively, social atmosphere complete with live entertainment and musical performances,” Disney said.

More for Adults

The Disney Wish will also feature a new lounge, a trio of premium culinary experiences and a dedicated pool district on the upper decks exclusively for guests ages 18 and older.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

For the first time on a Disney ship, guests will embark on a tour of the Star Wars galaxy at Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship. This immersive experience will be reserved for adults every evening, offering interactive tasting experiences and signature beverages inspired by the films.

Specialty Dining

For food and drinks, adults will be able to enjoy Palo Steakhouse, Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement and The Rose.

• Palo Steakhouse is an evolution of the Palo restaurant familiar to Disney cruisers. It now combines Italian dining with the classic refinement of a modern steakhouse in a setting inspired by Cogsworth, the majordomo-turned-enchanted-clock from Beauty and the Beast.

• Enchanté will feature a gourmet menu crafted by three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement in a venue inspired by Beauty and the Beast’s candelabra maitre d’, Lumiere.

• Inspired by the fateful flower at the heart of the story, The Rose is a lounge at the entrance of Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté, most suitable for a pre-dinner aperitif or after-dinner cocktail.

Quiet Cove Pool District

At Quiet Cove, guests aged 18 and older will find an adults-only area dedicated to lounging, sipping and soaking. The place will offer an infinity pool with panoramic views of the ocean, a whirlpool spa, an open-air bar and a poolside cafe.

Maiden Voyage and Inaugural Season

The Disney Wish will sail its maiden voyage on June 9, 2022, followed by a season of three- and four-night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, from Port Canaveral, Florida.

Five Must Do’s for an Adults Only Cruise on the Disney Dream

by Heather Straight Aug 22, 2017

We boarded the Disney Dream and all of those thoughts immediately washed away. The atrium took our breath away! It looked like we had just stepped into the lobby of a deluxe Walt Disney World ® Resort Hotel. I knew from that moment that this was going to be a vacation we would not forget.

Once my worries were gone, it was time for us to decide exactly what we wanted to do while on the Disney Dream . There were so many choices for adults every single night of our sailing! From dining and entertainment, to pools and bars, the Disney Dream has it all. Although I believe everything on the ship is worth trying, here are a few adults-only amenities that stood out to me:

Palo brunch

Palo is one of the two adults-only dining locations aboard the Disney Dream. The restaurant is located on Deck 12 of the ship. The brunch is available on sea days and is an additional $30 per person. It is worth every penny! We were seated by the window with a great view of the ocean. Our server offered us complimentary mimosas after seating us and gave us a tour of the buffet offerings. On the buffet you will find fruit, vegetables, seafood, meats and cheeses. But that is not all! You are also given an a la carte menu to order from. We chose to each order a flatbread and an entrée. I recommend the Spicy Italian Sausage flatbread which was very flavorful and for an entrée the Rollatini Melanzane. This dish is breaded eggplant stuffed with prosciutto and cheese. It was amazing! If you aren’t stuffed enough, there is also a dessert table by the buffet. With offerings such as tiramisu and panna cotta, the dessert table is not to be missed. Not only is the food at Palo wonderful, but the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We never felt rushed and the service was outstanding.

Quiet Cove Pool

Quiet Cove Pool is located on Deck 11 on the opposite end of the ship from the family friendly Mickey’s Pool. It is one of two adults-only pool areas on the Disney Dream . This area includes a pool, bar, plenty of lounge chairs, and two hot tubs. We visited the Quiet Cove Pool many times and it never felt crowded to us. We could always find a chair, and some peace and quiet. During the day it was a little busier, but when we visited at night there was hardly anyone around. You will occasionally see a child passing through in the daytime, but the Quiet Cove Pool is a great spot to hang out with other adults.

The Disney Dream has a slew of activities for adults offered daily. Some of them include trivia, bingo, alcohol tastings, cooking demonstrations, and mixology class, depending on the itinerary. You will be given a Personal Navigator in your stateroom every day that will provide times and locations for the various activities. You can also download the Disney Cruise Line app which will list the times. I preferred this option because you can favorite the activities you are interested in, and it will remind you 15 minutes before start times. One of my favorite unique activities we participated in was a ship tour. A crew member took us through various parts of the ship pointing out hidden details, like all of the Remy (the rat) features found in the adults only French restaurant Remy . This was offered on our sea day and lasted about an hour. It was very interesting and worthwhile!

The Rainforest Room

The Rainforest Room is located in the Senses Spa & Salon on Deck 11. A one day pass is $16 per person, or you can also purchase a length of stay pass once on board. After checking in, you are provided with a robe and shoes, but it does require a bathing suit as it is a co-ed space. The first part of the Rainforest Room has five different showers with different temperatures and streams. There are three saunas with varying temperatures as well. Water and towels are provided in this area. There is a set of doors you will pass through that opens up to two hot tubs, ten heated ceramic tile chairs, and beautiful views of the ocean. The Rainforest Room was a surprise hit for us. We weren’t sure we would spend any lengthy amount of time there, but once we were there, we loved it! The day pass is good all day, so you can come and go as you please. We went in the afternoon and it was a bit crowded. We tried again in the evening, around 8 (during the second dining time), and we were 2 of 4 people in the entire place. It was wonderful! If you aren’t typically a spa person, I would still recommend the Rainforest Room. It’s extremely relaxing and quiet, a great way to escape for a few hours.

The District

When you think of Disney Cruise Line , your first thought probably isn’t bars and nightclubs, but the Disney Dream has plenty! The District is an entertainment area located on Deck 4. Here you will find some of the best bars and lounges on the ship. My personal favorites were District Lounge and Pink . District Lounge is a comfortable lounge area with live entertainment, while Pink is a elegant lounge specializing in champagne cocktails. We loved going to The District , having a Drink of the Day (look for these in your Personal Navigator!) and enjoying the entertainment.

There is so much to see and do on the Disney Dream , and it’s not all for kids. Adults traveling solo, as a couple, or in a group, will love everything this ship has to offer. If you are hesitant like I was, don’t be! Take the leap, you won’t regret it!

It will be leaving on its maiden voyage this December, and there are so many reasons to be excited about your time on it! To that point, we wanted to talk about a couple of the reasons why the Disney Treasure will be a MUST-DO for Disney Adults!

Taking into account everything we know about the Disney Treasure so far, we’ve narrowed it down to a list of seven things that Disney Adults will absolutely be on board to experience!

Haunted Mansion Parlor

If you’re a big Haunted Mansion fan like us, you’re already beyond stoked for the Haunted Mansion Parlor coming to the Disney Treasure.

There look to be so many hidden details based on the various iterations of the Jungle Cruise attraction from Disney destinations around the world we can already see from the concept art of this bar. You’re going to nerd out when you get in there (and we will, too!).

Let us share all those hidden details with you here!

Periscope pub.

Have you ever heard of the classic movie “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea”? It used to have a popular ride in Magic Kingdom, and Disneyland’s version has been re-themed. Since then, there hasn’t been much in the way of representation for the movie in any of Disney’s offerings. However, that’s about to change thanks to the Disney Treasure!

At the Periscope Pub, you’ll find a selection of craft brews and tasty snacks to enjoy while you watch your favorite sports games on TV. Plus, you might notice a few fun decorations that pay tribute to a famous giant squid.

On the upper deck, adults can enjoy the secluded Quiet Cove aboard the Treasure, which is “dedicated to lounging, sipping and soaking.”

What other than the rose with falling petals reminds the Beast of his potential fate to serve as the inspiration for this space?

Palo Steakhouse

The Disney Cruise Line’s staple Palo Steakhouse also has a home on the Treasure. It will present its signature combination of “authentic Italian dining with the classic refinement of a modern steakhouse.”

On the Treasure, as with the Wish, the setting will draw inspiration from Cogsworth.

Enchanté (featuring a menu by three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement) will offer the most luxurious dining experience on the ship in a romantic, intimate setting.

The Candelabra, Lumiere, serves as the inspiration for the space.

Last up, I know we said seven, but here’s one more for ya!

Disney hasn’t said much about this space, but we do know that it will be a central hub for both daytime activities and adult-exclusive entertainment in the evenings.

What we can tell is that it’s themed after The Pride Lands in The Lion King !
