World Cruises

CruiseMapper logo

This is CruiseMapper's World Cruise schedule where you can compare itineraries, departure dates, ports, and destinations. For more detailed information on "Around The World" cruise ships - just follow the ship links from the below table. This page is integrated with our Suez Canal cruise ship transits and Transatlantic cruises ( repositioncruises.com ).

Vacationers on cruises around the world are able to experience culture-rich opportunities while sightseeing on multiple continents. Combine exciting land tours with leisurely days at sea. Fulfill your dreams and book a world cruise to explore the globe!

You are not alone in your dream to discover what lies there, beyond the horizon... It has been a part of human nature since immemorial time. It was not until 1922 when the first passenger circumnavigation was made by Cunard Line that adventurous souls could follow Magellan's way around the world.

"Around the World Cruise"

"Around The World" cruises are the perfect voyages for those who want it all. This type of cruise vacations is an opportunity to explore beautiful landscapes, diverse cultures, and wildlife on earth. As they last as long as 110 days, dock at upwards of thirty ports, round the world cruises take guests to the globe's most exciting destinations in comfort and style. Another option for travelers who think it's much time at sea is taking just an itinerary section (one of the smaller segments), so as to explore one region only.

Around The World Cruises - CruiseMapper

Cruisers who look for stunning landscapes, histories, exotic wildlife, fine beaches, or first-class cuisine are certain to find the ideal destination on round the world itineraries. The main World Voyage attraction is that they allow you to visit far-flung destinations in one package, for example- the Mediterranean & the South Pacific, without the typical travel drawbacks. Go and see exotic locations, and then return to your ship for dinner and entertain yourself. And imagine this goes on and on for so many days... Sounds like perfectly splendid to me!

Around The World voyages itinerary routes

  • Australia - Sydney Harbour; tropical Queensland; the Great Barrier Reef;
  • the Pacific - Pacific islands; the islands of Fiji, French Polynesia & Hawaii;
  • Asia - Vietnam coastline, rich with monuments & temples;
  • the Middle East - heading through the Suez Canal at Egypt - Aqaba, Luxor, Muscat. The alternative route- down Africa's east coast with stops at Cape Town or Mombasa;
  • West America - the cosmopolitan USA cities; the ports of Mexico, with ruins of ancient Mayan cultures.
  • South America - the Brazilian rainforest; the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro.
  • Europe - Athens- the ancient capital, and the architecturally amazing Barcelona.

Around The World Cruises - CruiseMapper

List of popular cruise ports on Around The World voyages

Round the World voyages usually from some of the world's largest major port cities, such as Southampton , Tilbury-London , NYC New York , Los Angeles , Miami , Fort Lauderdale , Sydney Australia . A lot of cruise vacations run from Singapore or Sydney to Pacific islands, west to Europe, and around the Asian ports, either round Africa (via Cape Town) or through the Suez Canal (transition) . Some of the lines take guests west, down the USA coast through the Panama Canal (transition) , after which- across to Dubai . If you are interested in the subject of the world circumnavigation in general - this is the Wikipedia article about it.

Shorter around the world itineraries (segments) may start in Melbourne Australia , Brisbane Australia , Singapore , Hong Kong China , Cape Town (South Africa) .

Is the World Cruise cost worth it?

There are people who really love the endless lazy days at sea with little to do. For others, the joy of cruising is to be able to visit different new places all around the world in a short time.

What about Around The World cruise ship offers, then? Will you survive after experiencing all the long days at sea (for example, an Australia-Southampton sector lasts 40 days)? If your answer is "not sure", better book two shorter voyages instead- thus you'll have more call ports and more new impressions. Just look carefully at the new-issued itineraries before you book a world cruise.

The atmosphere onboard Round The World cruise ships is very different from Mediterranean or Caribbean cruise vacations, so choose the world cruise line very carefully! Lots of people believe that you have to be old enough and retired to set sail on a Grand Voyage. True, and not so true. There are plenty of still working people onboard who have persuaded employers to give some months off. And all of them are mid-class and above, and most of them are really really really affluent.

Before committing to a World Voyage of three or more months away from home, bear in mind a few things first:

  • World Cruises deals present a great chance to see interesting parts of the globe, but better work out the number of sea days included in cruise deals, first. With more ports of call in your itinerary, you will be swept off your feet by the exotic sites and forget to think about the long days at sea in between.
  • If you don’t have the money and time for sailing all the way around, better book a segment! Companies have an amazing organization - some passengers get off here, others board there.
  • Around-the-world cruises attract older people just because they have the time (and money, of course) to be away for several months. Do you want to show the kids new cultures? Forget about world cruising and book two shorter cruises instead!
  • The irony about "Around The World" voyages is that actually they don't sail fully round the world. On the other hand, it is true that these voyages, lasting from more than seventy, and up to 116 nights, offer vacationers the chance to see diverse cultures wrapped into one single voyage. Even those who cannot commit to a full voyage can participate through the popular "segment" option, ranging from a week to more than one month.
  • Most "world cruise ships" usually start their Grand Voyages in January and the itineraries end in March-April-May. However, after Australia became a hot ship travel vacation destination in 2015, some of the companies offer roundtrip "World Cruise" deals from Sydney Australia. These itineraries often start in May, and even in July.

Singapore has four official languages and even more ethnicities that have influenced its culture. Discover the city's Muslim heritage at Sultan Mosque along Arab Street and its Chinese character (and food!) in Chinatown. Local Cuisine

The best way to get a cross-section of Singaporean cuisine is to visit its street vendors, or hawkers, in hubs like Tiong Bahru. Jump onboard a Singapore cruise to try Cantonese-derived wantan mee noodles, with dumplings and yellow egg noodles topped with slices of char siu pork. Snack on chai tow kway , also called carrot cake, even though it's made from rice flour and daikon radish fried with eggs in pork fat.

An around-the-world cruise is often thought of as the pinnacle of a  sailing vacation . Some cruisers treat these multi-month journeys as once-in-a-lifetime trips; others are frequent guests, a world cruise but one piece of their annual travel plans. There are also the enduring tales of older travelers who elect for extended world voyages as an unconventional retirement plan . (Though as onboard WiFi becomes more reliable, it's now possible to work remote from many cruise ships, as well.)

Whatever the reason, the allure of this mode of travel is strong. Why not unpack once, enjoying fairy godmother-like service, exemplary amenities, and always-changing views for months on end? Plenty of cruisers with time and money on their hands do exactly that, choosing an extended at-sea lifestyle for at least a portion of the year. Around-the-world cruises often run from early January through March or April, although new off-season itineraries are being introduced.

If an epic voyage across multiple oceans and continents fits into your future, be prepared to plan the trip far in advance. World cruises have a strong following among cruisers—many of the sailings can sell out up to a year before departure. Travelers can also book shorter “segments” joining the ship for only a portion of the journey, but cruise lines often add significant value-adds to those booking the entire voyage—everything from free business class airfare to other exclusives like special parties and invite-only shore excursions.

Here's everything travelers need to know about taking an around-the-world cruise, including tricks from veteran world cruisers, booking tips, and some of the best itineraries in 2025 and beyond.

This article has been updated with new information since its original publish date.

Booking tips for around-the-world cruises

How much is a cruise to go around the world.

World cruises, which may not actually circumnavigate the globe entirely, but are generally in a category that covers at least three continents and lasts from 90 to 150 days, generally start around $140 per passenger per night based on double occupancy. All in all, the cost of 100-plus day world cruise can range from $16,000 to over $800,000 per person, depending on the line and cabin type.

Is an around the world cruise worth it?

That’s certainly subjective, but travelers already accustomed to cruising—who appreciate the amenities of a ship and the lifestyle of a new port to view through the window every few days—will likely consider world cruises good value.

How much does a 180-day cruise around the world cost?

The longest world voyages we found generally lasted up to 140 to 150 days at their upper limits, although Oceania Cruises world cruises can be 180 days or more, starting at $48,799 per passenger.

Advice from frequent world cruisers

Roger Foenander and his partner David Mutton—loyalists to Viking Cruises —note the lack of pressure to see and do things within a tight timeframe on longer journeys, which provides plenty of freedom to relax. That might mean attending onboard enrichment lectures, spending the afternoon playing cards with fellow passengers, or dipping into the onboard spa and sauna before cocktail hour.

Linda Wiseman, who has traveled with Cunard , suggests new faces can help get ahead of any monotony: “In the dining room, we tell the maître d’ not to seat us with another couple who is sailing the whole thing—that way, our seat mates switch every few weeks, and we can meet different people.”

New Orleans-based philanthropist and veteran world cruiser Phyllis Taylor observes that these sailings are a class set apart, without the frenzied pace of shorter itineraries: “The difference between a short cruise and a  world cruise  is night and day, storm and calm, fleeting thought and thoughtfulness. I enter the bar in the evening, in no time my favorite song is being played, my favorite drinks sit before me. I go to dinner and my favorite table is waiting for me, and my waiter has already served the iced water with lemon just as I like it."

But the real value of a world cruise, Taylor says, is the chance to fully immerse in and savor the experience: “With an extended cruise you absorb the lifestyle of life at sea; with the great advantage of having a crew and staff that treats you like royalty.”

The best around-the-world cruise itineraries

Silversea Silver Cloud

You can book world cruises in their entirety or join one leg of the journey for a shorter voyage.

Silversea’s 136-day sailing onboard their newest ship, Silver Dawn , will embark in Tokyo in January 2025. Called Controtempo , the cruise will sail in the opposite direction and season of many world cruises, taking in Japan and China in January before heading to Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives , and Seychelles in February. The ship will spend the spring making its way up Africa’s Atlantic Coast—arriving in the Baltic Sea before cruising to Iceland and Greenland (an uncommon call for World Cruises), then tracing Newfoundland and New England to New York.

This Caribbean Island Is Back From the Brink&-and Ready To Share Its Treasures With the World

Fares start at $77,560 “Port-to-Port” or $79,060 “Door-to-Door,” which includes business class airfare and transfers—including pickups and drop-offs in the traveler’s home city.

Princess Cruises

Most world cruises departing from North America head to sea in January, but in 2026 Princess Cruises will be offering 114-day World Cruises during the northern summer. Departing in early May from Auckland, New Zealand; or Sydney or Brisbane, Australia (mid-autumn in the Southern Hemisphere), the sailings are timed to arrive in Western and Northern Europe during the peak of summer, promising endless sunny days.

The sailing also has a number of long stretches of sea days for cruisers who like time to unwind and enjoy the amenities of the ship, Crown Princess . Some of the longer ocean crossings, like Brisbane to Bali and Colombo, Sri Lanka to Aqaba, Jordan will take a week or longer, while three other ocean crossings are at least four days.

Inside cabins start at $15,588 per passenger or from $22,248 for Princess Plus fares, which includes beverages, WiFi, and onboard gratuities.

Crystal’s land partnerships with parent company Abercrombie & Kent are front and center during their 2025 World Cruise , a 123-night sailing departing from Fort Lauderdale on January 7 onboard the Crystal Serenity —fresh off a complete refurbishment that reduced the total number of cabins, which now all offer butler service in every room or suite category.

With port calls in South America, Africa, India, the Middle East, and Europe, Crystal will offer guests a number of overland packages in partnership with Abercrombie & Kent—think multi-night side trips to the Galápagos Islands , Machu Picchu, the Serengeti, Taj Mahal, or Karnak Temple.

Guests booking Crystal's full World Cruise will have included Business Class airfare, $1,500 shipboard credit, luggage valet, and airport transfers. Fares start at $66,500 per passenger based on double occupancy in an Ocean View Deluxe stateroom.

Regent's luxury world cruises tend to sell out far in advance.

Regent's luxury world cruises tend to sell out far in advance.

Regent Seven Seas

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has already opened their 2027 world cruise for booking—and they have a tendency to sell out quickly. It will be the first year a larger Explorer Class ship, the Seven Seas Splendor , will undertake the world voyage, calling at 71 ports en route from Miami to New York in January 2027.

The routing will take the ship from the Caribbean to the Pacific coast of Mexico via the Panama Canal, Hawaii, several ports in French Polynesia (calling twice at both Moorea and Bora Bora), Australia, Southeast Asia, India, the Persian Gulf, the Eastern and Western Mediterranean, and Bermuda before arriving in New York.

Early bookers will get a long list of added amenities, including first class airfare, a pre-cruise gala in Miami, exclusive shoreside experiences in Panama City, Colombo, and Málaga , unlimited shore excursions, unlimited beverages, gratuities, transfers, door-to-door luggage service, and unlimited laundry, dry cleaning, and pressing. Fares start at $91,449 per passenger and go up to $839,999 per passenger for the ship’s most luxurious suite.

Oceania Cruises

Many world cruises depart in January and sail in the 100- to 140-day range, mostly wrapping up by April or May. Oceania’s 180-day world cruises last until midsummer, and are often “true” around-the-world sailings, ending in the same port they first embarked from.

Oceania’s 2025 Global Horizons sailing lasts a whopping 196 days onboard Insignia , roundtrip from Miami. The sailing includes several destinations in the Eastern Caribbean, and—extraordinary for a world voyage—a week of scenic cruising along the Amazon River . The voyage continues in South America before crossing the Atlantic to the remote islands of Tristan de Cunha, a British Overseas Territory, before making landfall again in Namibia , tracing the African coast through South Africa, Mozambique, and the French department of Mayotte (another rare stop for a cruise), island-hopping in the Indian Ocean before calling in India.

The sailing covers a lot of ground in Asia—Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, China, Japan, the Philippines, Brunei, and Indonesia—before cruising the west and south coasts of Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, French Polynesia, and Hawaii. Crossing the Pacific to San Diego the ship then hops down the coasts of Mexico and Central America through the Panama Canal before returning to Miami in mid-July.

Oceania’s 2026 Around the World in 180 Days sailing is also roundtrip from Miami. Sailing westbound, the itinerary covers the east and west coasts of South America, the South Pacific, Australia, Southeast Asia, and much of the Middle East before transiting the Mediterranean to spend significant time in northwestern Europe and the Baltic Sea before crossing the far north Atlantic via Iceland and Canada before returning to Miami.

Starting fares for each of the world voyages currently range from $48,799 to to $57,999, including a number of value-adds like roundtrip airfare and airport transfers, plus a number of added onboard amenities.

10 Around-the-world Cruises for the Trip of a Lifetime

These world cruises offer the ultimate itineraries.

around the world cruise from singapore

Want to island hop around French Polynesia, visit Africa's incredible cities, and cruise through Asia without ever switching hotels or repacking your bags? An around-the-world cruise provides the ultimate itinerary, packed with exciting international destinations (some even visit hard-to-reach destinations like Easter Island and Antarctica), and luxury cruise lines provide comfortable accommodations, specialty restaurants, and plenty to do on and off the ship.

There are two main things you need before booking a world cruise: plenty of time and some spare cash. Prices range from around $20,000 to upwards of $100,000 per person, and all our top picks are more than 100 days (one is even a whopping 275 days), so they're ideal for retired travelers looking for their next big adventure. Pack wisely for a range of destinations and climates, and get ready for the journey of a lifetime, filled with postcard-perfect destinations and new friends (because you're bound to meet a travel buddy or two after 100-plus days on a ship). If an around-the-world cruise is at the top of your travel list, you'll want to book sooner rather than later — these journeys frequently sell out because many cruise lines only offer a limited number of sailings.

12 epic around-the-world cruises that will check off all your bucket list travel destinations

Janice Wald Henderson

Imagine the joys of traveling seamlessly from one bucket list country to another without packing and unpacking, switching hotels, boarding countless flights, or even doing laundry.

Think it's a fantasy? It's actually a world cruise, the nirvana of many oceangoing devotees. As a bonus, most of these around-the-world voyages include enviable perks, like precruise hotel stays, alcohol, shipboard credit, exclusive-access shore excursions — and, yes, laundry service.

Retired, taking a job hiatus or working remotely? A world cruise is a safe, easy and exhilarating way to score a global adventure beyond compare. You might even make new lifelong friends sharing similar interests.

So, pull out your travel wish list and find an itinerary for those coveted destinations.

Here, you can learn more about what's involved in an around-the-world cruise and drool over 12 terrific choices across a range of fares for an incredible monthslong voyage at sea.

What is a world cruise?

Never mind the moniker, a world cruise might visit several continents but not circumnavigate the globe. Cruise lines usually designate one ship (a few offer two) to sail about 100 days or longer — some even sail more than 200 days — without repeating ports.

World cruises traditionally start in January and end around April or May. They sail round-trip from one American city, such as San Francisco or Miami, or offer a choice of starting points on both coasts, making access easy.

What to know about world cruises

around the world cruise from singapore

With so few world cruises available, book far in advance. Bookings open roughly two years in advance, and some small-ship cruises sell out within hours. You'll need the extra time to make arrangements to leave your home for months. For that reason, this story will focus on 2026 world cruises.

Related: Hot cruises you'll need to book at least 1 year in advance — maybe even 2!

Around-the-world cruise cost

Such lengthy sailings cost plenty. The lines with bigger ships offer the lowest fares, although extra fees for what's not included (such as shore excursions and alcohol) can add up quickly. If contemplating a big-ship voyage, read the inclusions carefully, as they vary among lines.

Luxury vessels bundle many costly amenities into the fare, like business- or first-class plane tickets and luxury hotel stays, and charge the most. They also deliver fine dining, pampering service, glam surroundings and impressive special events. (Silversea Cruises has previously rented out an entire island to entertain its world-cruise guests.)

Thus, expect considerable price differences. Count on spending about $20,000 per person minimum to score an entry-level accommodation on the bigger ships and approximately $80,000 to $90,000 per person for an ultraluxury vessel.

Note that for the poshest lines, "entry-level" might mean a spacious, elegant suite with a veranda. For other lines, the most basic cabin is a small, windowless room.

Thanks to an overwhelming response to its previous world cruises (2025 is currently sold out), Azamara announced the itinerary for 2026 aboard the 684-passenger Azamara Onward.

Azamara Onward is the newest ship to join the Miami-based line's four-vessel fleet. The ship's size provides an intimate experience and allows it to call on small towns bigger ships can't access.

For 2026, the 155-night, 36-country voyage begins in Miami and ends in Barcelona, with visits to exciting locales in Ecuador, Chile, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Dubai, Greece and others.

Along the way, world cruisers can sample authentic Ecuadorian cuisine; explore the unspoiled beaches and lush parks of Tauranga, New Zealand; and take in the diverse landscape and wildlife of the Galapagos Islands.

The itinerary will include a presailing welcome party, exclusive cultural events, concierge service and other upscale perks.

The 2026 world cruise departs Jan. 6, 2026. Prices start at $85,822 per person for an inside cabin.

Cruise Trail

Cruise from Singapore – the essential guide

Essential guide to cruise from Singapore - The Lion City

The whole family loved Singapore. For the kids, the highlights of our trip were the Night Safari and the day we spent on Santosa Island. Not to mention the awesome cable car ride to get there. The hawker centers were a hit too – we’ve never seen so much variety of multi-cultural cuisine in one place!

The world is full of fascinating destinations, but do you know where Asia’s most popular cruise departure destination is? It’s Singapore! Cruise ships arrive and depart from here daily, with tourists eager to explore this culturally diverse city.

If you’re looking for a vacation that will be perfect for your family, then look no further than a cruise from Singapore. This article will give you great tips on what to see and do while spending four days in the city before boarding a luxury cruise ship from Singapore.

Having been a visitor for nearly 20 years to Singapore, I have seen the city, representing a crossroads between east and west, evolve quickly into an international hub for tourism, finance, and culture.

The skyline has dramatically changed with the development of iconic architectural landmarks, creating new parks, riverside entertainment, and immense shopping malls. All of this sits alongside and around historical gems and whispers of Singapore’s colonial past.

Remember to look up as soon as you arrive – day or night. You’ll first glimpse the famed Marina Bay Sands skyline that has transformed Singapore. The luxury hotel’s three towers are topped by the surf-board-shaped skypark that seems to hover in the air. It’s breathtaking.

Quick navigation

Transfer options from Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport is one of the most visually stunning airports and the busiest in the world. With over 60 airlines flying to and from Singapore, knowing how to get around when you first arrive can be challenging.

Let’s figure out what transfer options work best for you.

Taxis are available at the official taxi stand outside of the terminals. Metered fares into the city will cost around S$30-$40 for the 30-minute journey. Note! Airport taxis often have surcharges for peak hours or taxi rides after midnight!

Shuttle Bus

City Shuttle is inexpensive to get from the airport to the city. Buy your ticket at the information desk at the airport and tell them which hotel you need to get to. Shuttle buses leave around every 15 minutes. Follow the signs outside of the terminal.

Metro/train

Singapore’s metro system is called the MRT – Mass Rapid Transit. You can buy a pass for the MRT at Changi Airport, valid for trains and buses during your stay.

However, unless you have been to Singapore before and know which MRT station you need to disembark at to reach your hotel, you may not want to use the train on your first visit. The chances are you need to change station at least once to get to where you are going.

Getting around Singapore

Singapore is hot, big, busy, and spread out. Of course, you want to walk the city as much as possible to see everything. But you will need transport from one district to another in the heat.

We recommend that you start by purchasing the Singapore Tourist Pass to help you get around quickly. You can use the city’s excellent metro system (MRT) with the transit pass.

Upon arrival at Changi Airport at the Transitlink Ticket Office, buy a multi-day pass. These are also available at an MRT station (for example, Bay Front station, Raffles Place station, or Orchard station).

You will find a complete list of stations that sell the Singapore Tourist Pass here . Your tourist pass is valid for all daily travel on trains and buses.

If you don’t want to use the MRT, then taxis are plentiful and relatively cheap, which is a surprise in an otherwise expensive city.

Where to stay before your cruise from Singapore

When you cruise from Singapore, do not feel you must stay in a hotel close to the cruise port. The port is easily accessible from all areas of the city. We recommend instead staying more central and taking a taxi from your hotel to the cruise port on your day of departure.

We recommend a minimum of 4 stars when looking at hotel standards. One of the hotels below is 5-star, but often reasonable prices can be found when booking, so look out for those special offers. Expect good rooms, great service, and an excellent location at each of these choices:

The Hilton Singapore

Are you a shopper at heart? Then this hotel, located between 2 large shopping malls and at the north end of the famed shopping street Orchard Road, is for you. You are less than a 10-minute walk from Orchard Road MRT station. This is next to the outstanding ION Orchard Shopping Mall, with its fantastic basement food courts.

Park Hotel Clarke Quay

Park Hotel Clarke Quay is a firm favorite amongst cruise customers. Located on Clarke Quay, you are amongst vibrant shopping, riverside restaurants, outdoor evening shows, and much more!

Rendezvous Hotel Singapore at Bras Basah

This is a great hotel located in the trendy art district of Singapore. It’s near the National Museum of Singapore, Raffles, and beautiful Fort Canning Park.

The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore

The Capitol Kempinski is our choice of a top 5-star hotel in a stunning neo-classical building. Here, you will want for nothing and have many sights within walking distance. Look out for special online prices. You may find you can upgrade and choose this hotel without spending too much extra. It’s worth it if you want a luxury start to your cruise vacation.

The Peninsula Excelsior Hotel

A good choice if you are a family looking for large family rooms in a city center hotel. Breakfast is rather basic, but there is a lot of it. And there are two swimming pools for the kids to enjoy. It’s a great location, on the doorstep of shopping, sightseeing, and transport options. A short walk away is the Raffles Hotel. Ten minutes in the other direction is busy Clarke Quay for evening dining and entertainment.

4 fantastic days in the city before your cruise from Singapore

Day 1: raffles, little india, china town, and marina bay, raffles – a colonial gem with historical significance.

Start your day at the Raffles Hotel. Raffles is one of the most classically luxurious hotels in the world, representing the grand elegance of the old Colonial days. Spend time in the famous Long Bar.

Order a coffee, and it’s too early for a Singapore Sling! Walk the balconies and verandas, then explore the museum and gift shop inside the hotel before heading out into the beautiful hotel grounds.

If you didn’t eat much at breakfast, there is a new cafe, Gather, at the corner of the hotel, which recently opened its doors.

Little India – quirky, hip, and authentic

From Raffles, take a taxi to Little India. This is less than a 10-minute ride. In Little India, visit the magnificent Hindu temple of Sri Veeramakaliamman. The temple has been an integral part of the community since it was built in 1856 and rebuilt in 1983.

Stop by to get some spiritual guidance or simply explore! If you want to go inside, you need to remove your shoes. It would be best if you covered your legs and shoulders.

Serangoon Road is the heart of Little India and has numerous sights to explore. At the start of the road near Little India, MRT station is the Little India Arcade, where you can shop from the locals.

Chinatown – a colorful and harmonious clash of cultures

In the afternoon, take a taxi to Chinatown. Start at the Chinatown Heritage Center on Pagoda Street. Experience the Chinatown pedestrian mall, where you find every kind of souvenir, art, and craft for sale in restored shop fronts and busy market squares.

There are plenty of opportunities for a local Chinese lunch, which is well worth the stop. We recommend China Town’s hawker center. You will find dishes to suit the whole family and an astonishing array of choices at this food court.

Singapore Flyer – with views over to Indonesia & Malaysia

Later in the afternoon, take a taxi to the Marina and ride the Singapore Flyer. This is the observation wheel in downtown Singapore that dominates the skyline. It stays open until 9 p.m., and a sunset ride is terrific. For more information about the types of tickets you can buy in advance, visit the Singapore Flyer website .

Alternatively, enjoy an evening at Marina Bay Walk, visiting Marina Bay Sands and the spectacular Gardens by the Bay. The last admissions into the gardens are at 8.30 pm, and seeing it all lit up at sunset is fantastic.

Take the elevator up to the Sands Skypark Infinity Pool inside the Marina Bay Sands hotel. It is probably the most iconic view of Singapore, where you are at one with the skyline.

Day 2: Botanical Gardens, Orchard Road, and Clarke Quay

Singapore botanical gardens and a world-class orchid garden.

Start your day at Singapore Botanical Gardens. You can get there by taxi or by MRT. The nearest MRT stop to the gardens is Botanic Gardens MRT Station. Arrive in the morning when the air is much cooler and aim to leave by lunchtime when it often becomes unbearably hot.

As you enter the park, we recommend you begin with a walk through the National Orchid Garden. Here, you will find a mind-blowing 3000 species of Orchid.

Include long sleeves and a hat in your packing list , as there is little shade here. The gardens are, however, fantastic. It is an ideal place for the kids to run around this vast tropical landscape.

For children under 12, there is a beautiful playground. Carry a change of clothing as it can get wet! Inside the Botanical Gardens, there are numerous specialized gardens to visit. Such as the Ginger Garden (visit the restaurant here for a snack), the Spice and Herb Garden, and the Rain Forest.

The gardens are vast, and you will most likely spend the whole morning there. Use the MRT to get you back to Orchard Road, the shopping heart of Singapore.

Shopping on Singapore’s Orchard Street

Named for the plantations that used to occupy this area of Singapore where essential trading commodities such as nutmeg and peppers were grown, Orchard Street is a shopping district with something for everyone. World-class malls, luxury boutiques, and endless dining options await you. And hopping in and out of stores and malls is an excellent way to keep cool in the heat.

Start at The Hilton Shopping Gallery and visit Tangs, Singapore’s original department store. Then, head over to the spectacular ION Orchard. Visit the notable Ngee Ann City, much like a small city within a mall.

And then there is the Mandarin Gallery shopping mall. You may not see it all in one afternoon, but if you reach Peranakan Place, there are plenty of choices here for a bite to eat.

End your day by choosing a restaurant on Clarke Quay with outdoor seating, and enjoy a relaxing evening on the river amongst the stylish bars and waterfront night spots.

Day 3: Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island is Singapore’s playground. It’s located off the southern coast of Singapore and is an island resort. With a wide variety of activities in one place, you will need a whole day to explore this island!

Visit Universal Studios Singapore, SEA Aquarium, or lay in the sun on the clean, sandy artificial beaches (head to Tanjong Beach for great sunset views).

Alternatively, take the kids on a fun nature walk through Santosa’s forest. Free buses go around the island the whole day, so you can hop on and off as you wish.

Getting to Sentosa Island

Take the cable car; the views are fantastic. Get on at Faber Peak for the exciting ride across. You can buy a round-trip ticket at Faber Peak’s departure point.

If you don’t want to try the cable car, take the train to Harbourfront MRT station. This will take you to Vivocity shopping mall. Follow the signs to the third floor of the shopping mall and get on the Sentosa Express Monorail to take you to Sentosa Island. It’s easy, fast, and inexpensive!

Day 4 : Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

To escape the busy city, venture further afield and visit the wonderful Singapore Zoo and Night Safari.

This will be a hit, especially if you are traveling with children. The zoo has an open concept in a rainforest environment – and it is fantastic.

You must book entrance tickets to the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari on the Singapore Zoo’s website if you are not booking a guided tour where the entrance is included in your pre-paid price.

Singapore Zoo is about a 30-minute taxi ride north of the city. You can also get there by MRT or bus from Orchard Road. Start in the morning when it’s cooler, and you are most likely able to see more animals.

There are many activities for children, including wildlife talks with zoo keepers and wildlife tours by buggy cart. The guides do an excellent job of informing visitors about zoo conservation, education, and sustainability efforts.

This is a day excursion, so eat lunch at the zoo. In the evening, you can book an outdoor barbeque grill. Follow this with the Night Safari. On a guided tram ride, you will tour the zoo in the dark and get up close to over 1,000 nocturnal animals. This will be the highlight of your kids’ visit and a perfect way to end your city vacation before you join your cruise from Singapore.

Port of Singapore – gateway to exotic Asia!

The main cruise port in Singapore where cruise lines dock and depart is Marina Bay Cruise Center. Check the details on your cruise ticket carefully, as this information can change.

Marina Bay Cruise Center Singapore is located at Marina Bay, quite close to the city center. We recommend you ask your hotel to pre-book a taxi to take you and your luggage to the port for an easy door-to-port terminal transfer.

If you want to take the train, get off at Marina South Pier MRT station, which is a short undercover walk to the cruise terminal. And this is your starting point for an unforgettable cruise from Singapore.

10 exciting activities you didn't know you could do on Singapore cruises

10 exciting activities you didn't know you could do on Singapore cruises

Forget the cramped seats and bland meals of first-class air travel. The pinnacle of luxury and comfort isn't in the skies — it's on the open sea. Imagine not just a seat but an entire suite at your command.

Enter a 2-storey family suite, complete with an in-room slide and private cinema. How about challenging yourself with a ropelining course with friends? That's not all, experience hurtling down 3-storey waterslides or mastering 12-metre-long surf simulators? All while sailing 90 metres above the sea.

If you have the means and moments to spare, cruising could be your ultimate travel indulgence. Here are 10 exclusive activities and in-suite extravagances that will redefine your cruise experience-and what they'll set you back.

1. Experience magical moments with Disney's own cruise ship

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JTRDjv_F5g[/embed]

Guess what? Starting late 2025, Disney Cruise Lines will be setting sail from its new homeport in Singapore. Imagine Disney's world comes alive on the seas. From themed dining to captivating entertainment, it's an experience that promises to thrill guests of all ages, including me.

Traveloka will start offering bookings for standard cruise passes on its app in the fourth quarter of 2024. On top of that, it will also offer special packages tailored to Southeast Asian travellers.

On the ship, you can explore 7 different themed areas, each offering a unique Disney experience. Check out the live shows at Disney Imagination Garden or feel the energy at San Fransokyo Street, inspired by Big Hero 6.These areas are designed to spark joy and creativity, making sure there's something fun for everyone to enjoy.

2. Go skydiving at sea with RipCord® by iFLY®

Ever wondered what it's like to skydive but not quite ready to jump out of a plane? Check out RipCord® by iFLY® on Royal Caribbean ships.

It's this super fun skydiving simulator that lets you experience the thrill of freefall right on the deck. You step into a wind tunnel, and suddenly, you're floating like you're in the air.

It's available on Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, so if you're on those ships, definitely give it a try. The best part? If the ship is docked, you might get to try it for free.

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/C-WeTxfg1Xj/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link[/embed]

Before you jump into the skydiving simulator, make sure to remove any loose items like jewelry or phones, and wear comfy clothes with sneakers. It's important to fit into the flight suit provided, and if you're under 18, you'll need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

If you're all about maximizing the fun, there's an option for an Extended Flight Experience, which costs around S$64 per person (U$50.99). The price is based on the US market, but this will give you an idea how much you'll pay for a level-up experience. Just a heads-up, you'll need to do a quick training session to make sure you know how to position yourself safely.

Meanwhile, you're in luck if you plan a trip later this year. The Anthem of the Seas will arrive in Singapore in November 2024, offering 3 to 10-night itineraries through Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Here are the prices to help you plan your cruise ahead.

3. Glide through waterslides and enjoy aqua park amenities

So, if you're thinking about taking a cruise from Singapore, then you can hop onto Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas or the Genting Dream from Resorts World Cruises, to experience the waterslides and aqua parks.

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M_lzn_Ypb4[/embed]

On the Anthem of the Seas, The H2O Zone Water Park features interactive geysers, climbable sculptures, pools, waterfalls, and more. It's ideal for your little ones and even teens, making your family time more enjoyable. They can spend hours sliding down colourful tubes, playing in splash zones, and discovering waterfall features.

Meanwhile, the Ovation of the Seas, arriving in October 2025, offers Splashaway Bay-an aqua park with slides, water cannons, and waterfalls designed specifically for young adventurers.

If you're a daredevil looking for adventurous water activities, then The Perfect Storm water slide and their 12m-long FlowRider surf simulator are must-try.

The Perfect Storm is actually a trifecta of 3 water slides aptly named after storms-Typhoon, Cyclone, and Supercell. You won't always get all of them on every Royal Caribbean ship, and you may not always get the surf simulator the same way.

Here's a summary of which vessels have which features:

The best news? The Perfect Storm and FlowRider surf simulator are both included in the room price. So as long as the cruise ship you're on has these facilities, go ahead and knock yourself out on them (not literally)!

4. Marvel at panoramic sea views inside an observation capsule

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znpq0wqZvGY[/embed]

Ever wanted to see the ocean from a whole new perspective? That's what North Star® offers. It's this cool glass capsule that lifts you over 100 metres above sea level on a mechanical arm.

You can find it on some Royal Caribbean ships like Anthem of the Seas and Odyssey of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas, and Spectrum of the Seas. It's even in the Guinness World Records for being the tallest viewing deck on a cruise ship, and it fits up to 14 people.

around the world cruise from singapore

Think of it like a mini Ferris wheel ride, but at sea, lasting around 15-20 minutes. The views are definitely Instagram-worthy, whether you're looking at the ship below or the coastlines you pass by. If you're planning to go during peak times like sunrise or sunset, it's smart to book ahead through the Cruise Planner to avoid long waits.

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/C-HBipYPUJ6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link[/embed]

When docked at the port, you might get to enjoy it for free, but for those special moments out at sea, there's a fee. The price for the Extended Experience starts at about S$54 per person, when I searched for its price. It's actually tagged for the US market but this will give you a clue how much you'll spend at minimum since prices vary depending on the sailing dates and origin of port.

around the world cruise from singapore

Though if you're doing something epic like cruising past Alaskan glaciers, it might cost a bit more. Keep this in mind when planning your trip, and get ready for some seriously amazing views.

5. Book a 2-storey family suite as your ultimate getaway

Staying in the Ultimate Family Suite is like having a mini amusement park right in your cabin. Imagine starting your day with a ride down your own private slide-that's definitely not something you find every day.

This suite is all about fun, with goodies like an air hockey table on the balcony and a game room where you can challenge your family to Connect-Four or table tennis.

You won't need to wait in line for any of these activities. Everything is set up for instant fun. And when you need a break, you can kick back in your private cinema. It's got comfy seating and great sound to make movie nights special.

around the world cruise from singapore

Wondering how it stacks up against other cruise options? The Ultimate Family Suite is one of the biggest and most packed with features you'll find on a cruise ship, so it does come with a big price. A 3-4 night stay in the suite is reported to cost S$22,000 - S$30,000 for a family of four.

Not every cruise line has something quite like this, so if you're into this level of family fun, it's worth considering. This special suite is only available in Symphony of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas, and Wonder of the Seas.

A caution, though, for adults who want much of a privacy, the open layout of the suite may not be something you prefer when you want to make love and you're tagging the kids along-unless you close the curtains and keep it quiet.

6. Soar like your superhero with a zipline experience

If you're heading onto the Genting Dream, you've got to check out the zipline. It's up on the top decks and stretches 35 metres over the water. Imagine cruising high above the sea with nothing but the beneath you.

But there's a ropes course you've got to tackle first. It's a bit of a workout, especially if heights aren't your thing, so just be ready for it. Take your time and don't rush this so you can enjoy it until you reach the zipline.

It's not the longest ride out there, but it's definitely something different if you're tired of the usual inland ziplines. Trust me, it's a fun way to catch some amazing views and a bit of thrill while you're out on the water.

around the world cruise from singapore

You also need to be aleast 140 cm tall to join in on the fun. Also, make sure to wear some comfy clothes and definitely closed-toe shoes. It'll help you move around easily and keep things safe while you're up there.

7. Dare to climb and conquer the heights with ropelining

If you plan to try the ropelining on the Genting Dream, be prepared for a physically demanding adventure. The ropes course, which you must complete before reaching the zipline, will challenge your mind and body.

around the world cruise from singapore

Make sure you wear your own shoes and comfortable clothes and go there late in the afternoon when there's a shorter queue. You also don't want to wait until evening, which could potentially rain-and you won't enjoy much of the scenic views on top.

The 2-tier ropes course can be challenging, especially the higher tier that most adventurers opt for. The course tests your balance and strength, particularly the shaky platforms and the complex rope wall near the zipline starting point.

Don't let fear of heights stop you from experiencing this-the crew is there to help you through the most challenging parts.

8. Reach for the sky and test your limits on rock climbing walls

If ziplining, ropelining, and skydiving aren't enough, you'd better include rock climbing walls when you're on board a cruise ship-not everyday you find all these activities in 1 place and away from the shore.

around the world cruise from singapore

Whether on the Genting Dream or Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas, you'll be scaling the walls as if you're Spiderman.

So, don your helmet, harness, and wear your most comfortable clothes and tackle the 30-foot rock climbing wall on Quantum of the Seas. It's perfect for all ages, with tracks designed for different experience levels.

On the Genting Dream, the challenge intensifies if you pair this with the 2-tiered ropes course leading to the zipline mentioned above. You'll also receive an informative safety briefing before climbing.

9. Tee up together in the mini-golf course

Mini golf is a fantastic way to enjoy light-hearted competition and family fun while cruising. Both Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean offer this activity on their ships, including those departing from Singapore. On Carnival Splendor and Spectrum of the Seas, the mini-golf course is designed for bonding and fun.

around the world cruise from singapore

There's no need to aim for the perfect backswings, as you'll have unique, fun elements like windmills, treasure chests, and cacti designed to challenge your putting skills.

Perhaps some chipping techniques might be needed for those small barriers, but remember, this is nothing but a friendly game, not a match with Tiger Woods.

This activity is perfect for families looking to spend quality time together. Upon checking the cruise dates, the 16-night one-way ,"Carnival Journeys" cruise to Sydney is already sold out, which sailed last Aug 24 and will end on Sept 9, 2024.

10. Delight in world-class Broadway shows and theatrical performances

If you’re into live shows, you've got to check out the entertainment on Royal Caribbean cruises. Seriously, they have some amazing performances that are a must-see.

  • Check out We Will Rock You, a fantastic show with 24 of Queen’s biggest hits.
  • Experience a rock concert vibe with classics like Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions.
  • Don’t miss Starwater, an amazing blend of acrobatics, music, and special effects.
  • Enjoy Tuned to the Room, a unique show that combines music and art with out-of-this-world technology.
  • Watch The Silk Road, a show inspired by the historic trade route, mixing music, dance, and storytelling.

If you can, try to book your show seats before you even get on the ship — spots fill up fast, and you don't want to miss out. You can usually do this using the Royal Caribbean app or their website.

Once you're onboard, even if you've reserved, arriving really early can score you a better seat and let you enjoy the vibe before the show kicks off. And hey, keep an open mind — some shows might surprise you and become new favourites.

How do I save money on Singapore cruises?

Of course, just like anything else you shop for online, you must watch out for flash deals when booking a cruise. Aside from the limited-time offers, here are some tips to save money:

We’ve found that you can get the cheapest cruise fares if you:

  • Book well in advance. We’re talking about departure dates a year or more in advance.
  • Be flexible with dates. Not all dates are equal, and prices can vary tremendously, even during the holidays. Avoid the school holidays, or you'll pay more.
  • Check out the competition. Royal Caribbean may be one of the most well-known cruise operators but don’t forget there are others too. It doesn’t hurt to check the competitor for packages for the dates you want.

Which cruise insurance should you buy?

A trip on a cruise is still travel, and travel insurance is still a good idea. You'll want to make sure you can get emergency evacuation if you need it and compensation for trip cancellation.

However, check with the insurer whether the policy covers explicitly you for cruises.

A residential around-the-world cruise is delayed again — and waiting buyers won't get free hotels anymore

  • Villa Vie's residential cruise ship has been delayed yet again as the company awaits a certificate.
  • The ship was initially scheduled to set sail on its never-ending around-the-world cruise in May.
  • In the interim, Villa Vie said it will no longer pay for its would-be residents' accommodation.

Insider Today

Villa Vie Residences' highly anticipated residential around-the-world cruise has been delayed yet again from its original May target date, it told waiting customers on Monday.

The company also said it can no longer afford to pay for its would-be residents' accommodations near the ship, which has remained stuck in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for almost four months.

Villa Vie Odyssey has been readying to embark on a never-ending vacation that would circumnavigate the world every 3 ½ years, stopping at 147 countries and 425 destinations along the way — all while providing travelers with the comforts of a traditional cruise.

Dual occupancy cabins start at $120,000, with an additional monthly fee of $1,750 per person.

The highly anticipated vessel was initially scheduled to set sail in May following the company's acquisition of Fred Olsen Cruise Lines' more than 30-year-old Braemar vessel, now renamed Villa Vie Odyssey. However, issues like the aging ship's rudder stocks and certifications have since delayed its departure.

Mikael Petterson, the founder and CEO of Villa Vie, told Business Insider in an email in early September that his "best guess" is that Odyssey would set sail on September 9 or 10, noting that it was still a "moving target if it's either of those days."

But come September 9, instead of embarking on their around-the-world journey, buyers were notified of yet another delay .

The residential ship recently completed its highly anticipated sea trials, a milestone "test drive" for cruise liners. However, in the memo to customers, Petterson told would-be residents that the vessel was still awaiting its Passenger Ship Safety Certificate, which is necessary to set sail.

"We are truly at the end of the tunnel and can finally see the light," he said.

Since May, more than 100 Villa Vie buyers have stayed in the UK in anticipation of the ship's departure. Residents can spend their days on Odyssey but aren't allowed to stay overnight. In the interim, the company had provided shuttles to and from the ship, food, drinks, excursions, and lodging — or a daily per diem for those who "choose to do their own thing."

Related stories

That is, until Monday. In the memo, Villa Vie has asked its residents to pay for their own accommodations for the next seven days "or so" until the floating condominium receives full certification.

Since the initial delay, Petterson told BI that Villa Vie had paid almost $2 million for its buyers' hotels. "I wouldn't say it's crushing, but it does compound the stress of still not having launched and still not making revenue," he said.

For some would-be tenants, like Angela and Stephen Theriac , this announcement means they'll have to leave the UK, where they've been since Odyssey's initial departure date in May, to return to the US.

"Seven days is a lot in Belfast," the couple said in a video posted to their YouTube channel, MidLife Cruising . "The prices are a minimum of $200 a night. It's cheaper for us to fly back to the US."
