How to check travel ban in Saudi Arabia?

You can check if a travel ban is imposed on you or your Iqama in Saudi Arabia through Absher;

• Log in to your Absher account https://www.absher.sa/
• Scroll down and click on “ Service Suspension and Travel Restrictions .”
• Click on the “ Proceed ” button.

No Travel Ban

If the message appears, “ There is no Generalization Report registered against you ,” you do not have any travel ban restrictions on your Iqama in Saudi Arabia .

Travel Ban is Imposed

However, if there is a police case registered against your Iqama, the system will show the travel ban. In the below case, there is a travel ban for 10 years from Saudi Arabia.

If you have a travel ban imposed, you cannot;

• Get an exit reentry visa.
• Get a final exit visa .
• Leave Saudi Arabia until the ban is over.

How to Check Travel Ban in KSA via Absher Online

Absher in Saudi Arabia provides great services to citizens and residents. Checking travel ban is one of the most popular services on the Absher platform. The services let you know if there are restrictions against your iqama number in Saudi Arabia. If imposed, you cannot travel though.

Anyways, In this article, I am going to show you how to check if there is any travel ban on your Iqama ID. So, let’s get started.

How to Check Travel Restrictions in KSA

Visit Absher and log in to your account. Scroll down and click Service Suspension and Travel Restrictions under Other Services. You will see the Generalization Report notice, click Proceed on that. You will see the status on the next screen (ban or not).

No Travel Ban or Restrictions

When the report query for Generalization is shown you will see if there is any travel ban or not. When there is no Ban, you will “There is no Generalization report registered again your Iqama”. You can then travel without any hassles.

When there is Travel Ban

Using the above procedure, when you see the Generalization Report Query page with your name, iqama number, and other details, consider there is a travel ban against your Iqama number. You will see the ban details on the page.

In this case, you will not be able to do the following things while in the Kingdom as an Expatriate:

• You cannot travel outside of the Kingdom.
• You cannot get a final exit visa or exit re-entry visa .
• You won’t be able to leave the Kingdom without the government’s permission until the ban is over.

If a ban is imposed again your Iqama number, consider talking to your Kafeel and making negotiations. Because your sponsor is the only person who can remove this ban. However, if there is a police case or other issues consider reaching the desired department.

Travel Ban in Saudi Arabia : The Absher platform in Saudi Arabia now allows you to check about your Service Suspension and Travel Restrictions using through “Generalization Report Query”. Trending Video : Saudi Arabia announces Holiday for All on Saudi National Day

The Generalization Report Service is available in Absher for Saudi Citizens and Resident Expatriates, it allows you to inquire about your Generalization reports registered against your name from the government organizations.

– This service allows you to search for legal proceedings and travel bans against you using your resident permit (iqama) number. This service allows to check any legal cases or travel bans against the Absher user without the need of visiting the police station in the Kingdom.

Procedure to check Generalization Report using Absher platform :

Only those who have valid Absher account, can check their Generalization Report by following the below steps.

1. Login to Absher Individuals, Verifty OTP.

2. From side menu, Click “Electronic Services”.

3. Check the list of available services in “Other Services”.

Reasons behind Travel ban in Saudi Arabia :

1. Unpaid Debt : The travel restriction resulting from unpaid debt is one of the most regular types in Saudi Arabia. If a person has unpaid debts or has been ordered by a court to pay a debt, the government may place a travel ban on them.

– Individuals are prohibited from leaving the Kingdom until their debts are paid in full under this travel ban. It is significant to remember that both Saudi citizens and resident expats may be subject to the travel ban issued by Saudi Arabia because of outstanding debt.

2. Criminal Record : Expatriates having a criminal history are susceptible to deportation from Saudi Arabia. This is relevant to a variety of crimes, such as robbery, theft, embezzlement, and others. The Saudi Arabian government, regardless of a person’s nationality or citizenship status, may act quickly against those who break the law and takes a hard position against criminal conduct.

3. Residency Rules : If an expatriate is discovered for the third time without an Iqama (residence permit) or they have Huroob (Absent From Work) status, they may be subject to deportation. Expats should be careful to apply for and renew their residency permits on schedule to prevent any concerns with Iqama compliance. Additionally, they should always carry a physical or digital copy of their Iqama with them, which acts as identification of their rightful status as residents of Saudi Arabia. 10. Labor Disputes : The Saudi government has the authority to impose travel restrictions on anyone who are engaged in labor disputes with their employers. These people aren’t allowed to leave the country until the labor issue is settled due to to the travel ban. Both Saudi nationals and resident expats are subject to this ban.

How to Check Legal/Court Case on Najiz and Absher Against Iqama and Travel Banned?

You can check if criminal or travel banned case is registered against your Iqama from the MOJ website, Najiz, or Absher in Saudi Arabia. There are two ways to check this.

Check Legal Case at Najiz

The Ministry of Justice website allows you to check the status of a labour court, criminal, or any other police case registered on your Iqama in Saudi Arabia. In order to do that;

• Open:  Najiz.sa (Right click on page and select Translate to English)
• Click on “الدخول“.
• Now, login to your Nafath (National Single sign-on).
• Once logged in, browse through the website for legal issues.
• لا يوجد قضايا لعرضها = No Legal case is registered on Iqama.

In case you find a case registered under your Iqama on Najiz or MOJ, you should work on how to attend the online hearing to defend your case.

Check Police Cases at Absher

You can check if a police case is registered under your Iqama in Saudi Arabia through Absher;

• Log in to your Absher account  absher.sa
• Scroll down and click on the “Generalization Report Query“.
• Click on the “Proceed” button.

If the message appears “There is no Generalization Report registered against you“, it means that you do not have any criminal record or police case registered on your Iqama.

If there is a police case registered against your Iqama, the system will show the travel ban. In the below case, there is a travel ban for 10 years from Saudi Arabia.

If you have a pending police case you cannot;

• Issue exit re-entry visa.
• Issue final exit visa.
• Leave Saudi Arabia until the case is resolved.

It is important to note that you cannot check labor court cases through Absher, it can only be checked on Saudi Ministry of Justice or Najiz websites.

What to do in the case of a police case?

If you find a police case registered under your Iqama but you believe that you are innocent, it could be an error. The best way to deal with it is to visit the  nearest police station  and report it to them.

Travel advisory january 24, 2024, saudi arabia - level 3: reconsider travel.

Updated after periodic review to provide information on the risk of arrest due to social media use and the importation of prohibited items.

Reconsider travel to Saudi Arabia due to  the threat of missile and drone attacks.   Exercise increased caution in Saudi Arabia due to  terrorism, the risk of arrest based on social media activity, and importation of prohibited items.  Some areas have increased risk.  Read the entire Travel Advisory.

Do not travel to the following locations due to the threat of  missile and drone attacks  and  terrorism :

• Within 50 miles of the Saudi-Yemen border, as well as the cities of Abha, Jizan, Najran, and Khamis Mushayt;
• Abha airport;
• Qatif in the Eastern Province and its suburbs, including Awamiyah.

Country Summary : U.S. government personnel under Chief of Mission responsibility must adhere to the above travel restrictions.  As such, the U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in these locations.

Missile and drone attacks perpetrated by Iran and Iran-supported militant groups have occurred as recently as September 2023.  The Islamic Republic of Iran has in the past supplied Yemen-based Houthis and regional proxy groups with weapons to conduct destructive and sometimes lethal attacks using drones, missiles, and rockets against a variety of Saudi sites, including critical infrastructure, civilian airports, military bases, and energy facilities throughout the country, as well as vessels in Red Sea shipping lanes.  Past attacks were aimed at targets throughout Saudi Arabia including Riyadh, Jeddah, Dhahran, Jizan, Khamis Mushayt, the civilian airport in Abha, Al Kharj, military installations in the south, as well as oil and gas facilities.

Debris from intercepted drones and missiles has also represented a significant risk to civilian areas and populations in the recent past.  Militant groups have threatened to conduct attacks against locations in Saudi Arabia.  U.S. citizens living and working near military bases and critical civilian infrastructure, particularly near the border with Yemen, are at heightened risk if missile, drone, or rocket attacks reoccur.

Terrorism continues to be a concern in Saudi Arabia.  Attacks can occur with little or no warning.  Past attacks have targeted tourist locations, large gatherings, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, and local government facilities.  Terrorists are also known to time attacks around major holidays and/or in response to military operations.  Terrorists have targeted both Saudi and international interests, mosques and other religious sites (both Sunni and Shia), and places frequented by U.S. citizens.

Be advised that social media commentary – including past comments – which Saudi authorities may deem critical, offensive, or disruptive to public order, could lead to arrest .  This may include posting, re-posting, or liking comments about Saudi institutions, policies, and public life.  U.S. citizens have been convicted for social media activity under Saudi laws concerning cybercrime, terrorism, and disrupting public order.  Punishment for social media activity has included prison sentences of up to 45 years in some cases.  Saudi courts do not necessarily consider the timeframe of the posts or the location from which they were made to be material to these cases.

The importation of drugs (including marijuana), drug paraphernalia, alcohol, weapons, pork, or any materials that could be considered pornographic or suggestive, is prohibited.   Penalties for drug possession, consumption, and trafficking are severe by U.S. standards.  An extensive list of banned items is available on our Saudi Arabia country information page .

Due to risks to civil aviation operating within the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman region, including Saudi Arabia, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an advisory Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM).  For more information U.S. citizens should consult the  Federal Aviation Administration’s Prohibitions, Restrictions and Notices .

Militants in Yemen have attacked Saudi border towns and other sites in Saudi Arabia with armed drones, missiles, and rockets .  Civilians that are near the border with Yemen are especially at risk.   Terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Saudi Arabia, including in Qatif.

The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens within 50 miles of the Saudi-Yemen border as U.S. government personnel and their families are restricted from travel to this area.
