How experienced are your marine travel consultants?

Our consultants have an average length of service of 8 years. We have an award winning training department to ensure ongoing development of skills within our teams.

What are your hours of operations?

Our operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have a dedicated 24/7 team who support the day team outside of the hours of 08.30 – 17.30.

What currencies can you bill in?

Clyde have wholly owned entities in UK, Sweden, USA, Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands so we are able to bill in GBP, USD, SEK, DKK, NOK and Euro.

What invoicing options do you have?

We can invoice you daily, weekly or monthly. We provide consolidated invoices where required. The method used is PDF via e-mail or alternatively no touch via XML into our customers Accounts Payable systems.

What is your refund policy?  

Subject to the rules of the supplier refunds are processed where applicable in 3 working days (for GDS bookings).

Do you have access to marine airfares?

As a leading international marine and offshore travel management company, we have full access to marine airfare contracts on over 80 airlines.  In addition, we can arrange charters and have a full range of specially negotiated airfares on 540 airlines.

Assisting with extra baggage/specialised equipment?

Clyde are able to make special arrangements for anything from engineering equipment, musical instruments or even weapons.

Can Clyde arrange charter flights or access repatriation flights?

Throughout the pandemic we accessed repatriation flights and arranged charter flights for our customers. We are enabled by our strong supplier relationship with airlines globally.

What about unused tickets?

These are automatically credited to our customer accounts where applicable?

Clyde have also developed proprietary booking technology called Consort. Consort provides workflow efficiencies, duty of care and sustainability choices through the messaging centre and enables customers to book efficiently with our travel consultants.

Can you help us with visas?

We can.  We partner with CIBT to coordinate requests for passports and visas. CIBT is the  leading global travel visa service with unrivalled capability to obtain travel visas in a fast, convenient and secure manner. In addition, for crew or contractor bookings the team will manage communication with all. Stakeholders involved in the crew change process including coordinating visas on arrival with Port Agents to ensure that all flight and immigration clearance is in place.

Can you assist with OK to Board status updates?

Yes, Clyde confirm back to the traveller once the airline has updated their reservation.

Can you assist us booking quarantine hotels or isolation packages?

We can.  Throughout the pandemic we’ve been assisting our customers book UK quarantine hotels.  We’ve also arranged isolation packages that include bed, breakfast, lunch, snacks, evening meals, all delivered to the guests room.

Dave Thompson – Managing Director

Dave started working in the marine travel industry in 1977 in Liverpool with its famous maritime traditions. Having worked in the travel sector for a number of travel agents over the years, Dave decided to set-up Chartham Marine Limited in Canterbury after commuting to London for over 10 years. Dave says ‘Marine Travel is now entering an exciting phase of growth for the company, which we are all looking forward to’.

Claire Hewitt – Finance and Administration Director

Claire joined Marine Travel in 2007 as an Accounts Assistant.  Over the years she has had several roles within the accounts department and is now our Finance and Administration Director.   Using her years of experience in the sector she understands the unique administrative requirements our customers have and leads the accounts team to ensure that our customers receive tailored accounting solutions.  She is also responsible for finalizing the monthly and yearly management accounts for all our branches.

Ian Thurston – Director of Operations

Ian has been part of the Marine Travel team since 2007. Taking 6 months out to travel to The Far East, Ian then assisted our new team in Manila for the first month of opening. Coming from a corporate travel background Ian has gained excellent knowledge of marine fares, routes and ticketing and enjoys the challenges that marine travel can bring.

Neil Payne – Reservations Supervisor – UK

Neil joined our team in  2019 and was promoted to Reservations Supervisor UK in 2023. In this position, Neil will be working closely with all new staff members joining our reservation team, providing them with the essential skills and support needed to excel in their roles.

With a strong commercial and sales background in travel, Neil brings with him years of expertise gained from working in various sectors including airlines, business and leisure travel, and now the maritime industry. His diverse experience and in-depth knowledge make him a valuable addition to our team.

Rhose Edquibal – Reservations Manager – Manila

Rhose was our first staff member to join the team in our Manila office when it opened in May 2013.  Rhose brings a wealth of experience to our team, having started her career in travel and worked as a customer service agent for various travel companies.

Over the years, Rhose has developed her skills and knowledge in the maritime sector and has become an integral part of our team. She is dedicated to supporting all new employees through the training process, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in their roles.
