One objective for the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) is to strengthen and support positive relationships with families, relatives, and friends of the adults in our custody. This survey is designed to gather information about your experiences while visiting Oregon DOC facilities. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey so we may better serve you.
Instructions:
This survey will take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Please rate all questions based on experiences from your LAST visit. There is a comment section at the end of this survey with a 250-word limitation. Note: The visiting process at Oregon Department of Corrections generally includes staff from two sections – the visiting check-in/sign-in area (includes the lockers, metal detectors, sign in sheets, etc.) and the actual visiting room. Some questions within this survey ask you to rate the customer service of both areas.

What to Leave at Home or in a Facility Locker
- Non-emergency medications, prescribed or non-prescribed, are not allowed in the visiting room.
- Smoking of any kind is not allowed within a correctional institution or on State of Oregon property.
- Cash or other negotiable instruments, other than $15 in quarters, are not allowed.
- Cell phones, pagers, or other electronic devices are also not allowed in the visiting area.
- Weapons of any kind should not be brought into a facility.
- Metal buttons, body piercings, jewelry, underwire bras, and some shoes may activate the metal detector.
- Outer garments such as raincoats, ski jackets, and other garments that are lined are not allowed.
- Hats are not allowed to be worn inside the facility.

Visiting Department in Faribault has changes to the visiting schedule . Visiting is open Thursday – Sunday.
MCF-Faribault consists of a medium-security facility and a minimum-security unit located outside the secure perimeter. With a combined population capacity of 2,000 adult males, MCF-Faribault is the largest facility in the DOC system.
Notable Features
- MINNCOR Industries, including wood furniture manufacturing, laundry, cleaning products, and subcontract work.
- A 176-bed treatment unit for alcohol and drug abuse
- A unit designed to house geriatric and other individuals who are unable to care for themselves in a normal correctional environment
- The facility was originally a state hospital that was shut down in the 1980’s. In 1989, the Legislature authorized its conversion to correctional use.

Behavioral Health Services:
Services include assessment, individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention. Group therapy includes Anger Management, Adapt and Overcome, Emotional Intensity Disorder (EIM), Adjustment, Transitional Services Program, Supportive Living Services, Linden Support, Sleep and Anxiety, and Release and Reintegration, which are primarily available via a referral process.
Miscellaneous:
Apiary (bee) program, Restorative Justice, Long Term Offender Group, Bereavement and Loss, Prison Fellowship, Special Engineers/Boilers Operational Licensure Program, Safe Serve.
Visiting:
Visits can be scheduled in advance by calling 507-332-4500 or using the Online Scheduling Option .
To schedule a visit over the phone, call during the following hours:
- 11:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. (Thursday and Friday)
- 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday)
- Note: We are unable to monitor visiting phones during closed hours
All regulations per Visiting Policy #302.100 will be followed.
- All visitors must be on the approved visiting list
- All visitors must be listed on the scheduled visit - 4 visitors allowed on each visit
- No other person may join the visit at any time if not on the list
- Visitors must schedule a minimum of 24 hours in advance
As this is a new process, instructions will be made available to the visitor when a visit is set up.
Visiting for Restrictive Housing population
The visiting department does not have information about J-Pay video visit. All restrictive housing visits are non-contact and conducted via video. Duration is 1 hour.

Visiting Regulations:
Please read Visiting Information prior to visits.
Professional Visits:
Visits must be pre-scheduled at least four days in advance. Visitor packets must be completed and submitted prior to scheduling a visit. Professional Visits are held on Thursdays from 11:30 am – 3:30 pm. These visits are held in Sierra Visiting and must be completed no later than 3:30 pm. Privacy is given by limiting the visits to five per Thursday and spread throughout the visiting room. If there is a non-contact visiting restriction the visit will take place in the non-contact area of the visiting room where the conversation will be held over a telephone with glass in between visitors. The incarcerated person may view necessary documents, but documents may not be left with them per visiting guidelines.
