Chris Rock to have SA in stitches

Multi-Emmy and Grammy award winner and international stand-up comedy legend Chris Rock will have South Africans in stitches in June.

The No Apologies World Tour kicks off on June 3 when Rock will be at Durban's ICC Arena. He moves to Cape Town's Grand West Arena on June 4, hits Joburg's Carnival City Big Top Arena on June 6 before heading to the Sun City Superbowl on June 7.

It will be Rock's first live tour in more than three years. The show started on New Year's Eve at New York's Madison Square Garden. It features brand new material from the world's number one stand-up comedian.

Rock headed for the UK to perform for the first time outside of the US and sold out all scheduled shows and broke box office records with additional dates at the 20000-seater O2 Arena.

"Chris Rock is one of the comedy world's biggest stars. We're very excited to be hosting his debut South African tour, which looks set to be the greatest comedy event to hit the country," says Sam Hendrikse, tour promoter from Hunta Entertainment.

Chris Brown will be gracing Mzansi shores in July. The award-winning musician Chris Brown will be headlining the Mother Of All Parties at Kings Park Stadium in Durban on 2 July

The concert is brought to SA by Mabala Noise Entertainment and Back To The OldSkool in partnership with Channel O, Breezy will headline alongside other international acts and local stars. Speaking to Channel24 , Sam Sekgota, frontman of Mabala Noise Entertainment said: “Chris Brown is by far no stranger to South Africa having successfully toured the country in 2012 for the Carpe Diem Tour and again in 2015 for the Chris Brown X Tour Live.

“We look forward to yet another spectacular showcase of his talent in the city of Durban.”

Ticket sales for comedian Chris Rock's Canadian tour have shot up after the 2022 94th Academy Awards host was smacked in the face by Will Smith.

The comedian’s Toronto show to be held at Scotiana Arena on the 18th of June almost sold out after the incident that was streamed live to million worldwide.

According to TickPick, an online ticket marketplace's tweet , they had seen a tremendous increase in ticket purchases.

According to tegdainty.com , the ticket sales representative for Chris's tour, noted that the comedian will make his highly anticipated return to Australia & New Zealand in August.

The entertainer will be out on tour after a five-year hiatus and he is headed for Sydney, Auckland, Melbourne and Christchurch.

In the tour, he will also head to the Gold Coast, Adelaide and Brisbane.

Will Smith refuses to leave Oscars after Rock slap

Meanwhile, Briefly News previously reported that Will Smith refused to leave the Oscars ceremony after attacking comedian Chris Rock, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed Wednesday, as it began disciplinary action against the megastar.

Smith could face expulsion from the Academy for the open-handed slap, which came moments before the star of "King Richard" was handed the best actor award - an announcement greeted with cheers by the audience.

"While we would like to clarify that Mr Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognise we could have handled the situation differently," a statement said.

Brown's world tour begins on 17 November in Norway and continues to 12 major European cities including Stockholm, Stuttgart, Basel and Paris before touching down on African soil.

In 2005, 16-year-old Chris Brown emerged from Tappahannock, Virginia. His career rose swiftly, as his promising skills drew comparisons to his idols Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.

Double-Platinum first album

His eponymous debut album, which was certified double-Platinum sold over 3 million copies. As his career catapulted so too did his list of awards and accomplishments including three 2006 Billboard Awards, a Soul Train Award, two BET Awards, 2007 and 2008 Teen Choice trophies, three 2008 American Music Awards, four 2008 BET Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, a 2008 NAACP Award for Outstanding Male Artist, a 2008 World Music Award for World's Best Male R&B Artist, two Grammy nominations including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for Take You Down and two People's Choice Awards.

Chris Brown's number one hits include the Platinum-plus status With You, Forever, and Kiss Kiss (featuring and produced by T-Pain). Last year he released "F.A.M.E" with hit songs like Next To You (featuring Justin Bieber and "Yeah3x"). The album was awarded a Grammy for Best R&B album and won the Album Of The Year prize at the 2011 Soul Train Music Awards. F.A.M.E also went all the way to the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 list. In July this year, Brown released his fifth album entitled "Fortune". Featuring the hit song Don't Wake Me Up, the album has been topping the US lists.

Topics include the ongoing presidential campaign, the possibility of a black president, George W. Bush, gas prices, low-paid jobs, ringtones and bottled water, sex, relationships and the correct use of the n-word.
