Star Trek Legends Beginner’s Guide and Tips

At the time of writing this, Star Trek: Legends is still in Early Development and will likely be updated. When these changes are made I will test the and fixes/changes and upgrade this guide accordingly.

Star Trek: Legends is a turned based video game, where players build a team of four a complete variety of different combat challenges. This guide will be an overview for the gamplay mechanics, basics, list of bugs, and some recommendations.

best star trek legends team

Combat is turned based in an initiative order, where you can chose a number of attacks, buffs, enemy debuffs, until the renaming enemies number is reduced to 0.

The initiative order is displayed at the top middle of the screen. Initiative is based on a crew speed. Clicking on a character will let you see their abilities.

Speed, Autoplay, and Pause are listed at the top right of the screen.

Speed : Chose between x0, x2, x4 times normal speed

Autoplay : AI automated combat if you don’t want to chose what your abilities or targets

Pause : Pauses combat where you can abandon the mission.

Cover : Two spots on each team will have cover which will have some health of their own and must be destroyed before that character can be targeted. Some abilities ignore or do more damage against against cover.

  • +5% stat for a certain group such as Klingon, Starfleet, etc

Only one crew member can be selected for each role

Goals/Achievements

best star trek legends team

Goals : Goals are minor achievements for learning gameplay basics and completing early story missions. At the time of writing this, mine is bugged an although I’ve completed the last goal I cannot collect my reward.

Achievements : As listed on your Steam profile, these are the same Achievements and they do offer a latinum bonus once completed. You can see your progress for each achievement.

best star trek legends team

News displays some brief details about new operations, and what characters is the reward for completion.

best star trek legends team

Upon completing a story-based mission, you can send away team of up to 4 to go collect XP, latimum, and a number of other listed awards. You can send this team away fro up to 12 hours and can recall them at any time, but the longer they are away the better the rewards. You can send up to 3 away teams at a time.

Crew sent away will be unavailable for story-based Missions and Operations.

best star trek legends team

Operations are a progressing difficulty for higher rewards. Doing so will reward you with Events Points. You can use these to collect rewards (from the Events tab) and eventually you’ll unlock a character if you play enough. These are on a rotation and remaining time tables are listed in many places.

Crew sent on Shuttle Missions are not available for Operations.

best star trek legends team

This is where you spend many of your currencies to gain the materials needed to update your crew

Front : Rotates daily, sale price for a listed material and characters tokens for rank increases

Crew: Bio-mimetic gel for crew XP, and protomatter for skills increases. Daily limits apply

Particles : Crew can have up to 2 at a time, and these give bonuses in combat and can be upgrades

best star trek legends team

This is the selection screen when you’re about to face another player. When you select your crew you will see who gets the Cover spots. You will also see the enemy team, the enemy player rank, and their particles used.

New Enemy : Lets you randomly select a new enemy and they could have a higher or lower rank than you. You can do this up to 3 times before you must win a PVP fight.

Battle : Engages the fight. If this is grey you cannot begin combat. Try unselecting and reselecting your crew again.

BUG : If you get an error saying ONLINE CONNECTION FAILED during PVP you will be prompted to restart the game and you’ll be sent back to the main menu. This is not an error on your part or your connection, but it means you’ve hit your limit for PVP fights for a short time. According to a post in the discussion section where this limit is lifted after 2.5 hours or so.

best star trek legends team

A PVP fight will player very much like any other fight, only you’ll be fighting a crew put together by another player. The enemy is not present playing against you. Typically, if the enemy team has a crew member you are also using, that enemy will have the initiative on you crew member.

TIP : Do not use Auto-play if you’re trying to win. Your team will use all their buffs but not choosing your targets or abilities hinders you.

best star trek legends team

Alliance battles are fights with a progressive difficulty. Once you select an alliance and complete a number of missions you can gain a replicator reward. Raids run on the same cooldown as PVP so you can’t just play to your hearts’ content.

best star trek legends team

This is where you view your progress during certain Operations. The duration of the Operation will also be listed here. Once you’ve received a number of points you can also collect your reward in the form of replicated materials.

best star trek legends team

Survival is progressive diffuclty. Although you get some chance to pick from a pre-selected team. There’s no guarantee you will get to pick your dream team. For 100 survival points you can reshuffle the pre-slected crew.

Survival will play like story missions since there will be a number of fights before you end the level and progress to the next. Instead of Explore or Intel, Survival will let you choose one of two paths, one likely giving a type or reward and the other path offering another or even a Boss fight for greater rewards. Some parts will let you select a team upgrade or enemy debuff for a listed number of fights. There will also be Resource sections where you will gain freebies.

Once you have the resources (latinum and survival points) you can upgrade some some team stats for Survival mode only.

best star trek legends team

This is where you will randomly summon new crew members to complete your collections. Duplicate crew summoned will generate tokens you can use to upgrade their ranks. Crew have a set rarity so some characters appear more frequently than others.

You can choose to summon crew, or select a bridge type such as Command, Medical, Security, and Engineering to summon a crew from that group. This is great if you want finish a collection for a certain group or increases you chance to certain favorite character.

best star trek legends team

Once your ready to summon you can choose how many orbs you want to use. 50 – 75 are required depending on what group you want to summon. You can summon multiple crew if you have the orbs and this will summon an appropriate amount of new crew or duplicate tokens.

Collections

best star trek legends team

This is where you can view your summoned crew grouped in the series they appeared and types such as aliens, Captains, Crew Types, etc. Once you’ve filled a group, you can click the relicator icon to get some freebies.

Collections only lets you view your summoned crew, not look at their states, gear, or particles.

best star trek legends team

This is where you can view your crew, organizing them bu Role, Rarity, Power, and Tone Count. Characters can be viewed even if they are not summoned. Upgrading gears require a number of latimum and materials. Gaining and upgrading skills require latinum and protomatter of that crew type.

Selecting a character will let you view their skills and stats, select and upgrade available particles and great, and rank up with character tokens. The icon (i) next to rarity will show your their in-game stats. Enhance will allow you to gain xp from Bio-mimetic gels.

best star trek legends team

Missions are the story of Star Trek: Legends, with a plot revolving the Nexus where the game takes place. Iconic characters will appear in an 8 Chapter story.

You will choose your team and engage in a number of combats till you complete the section. There are six sections per chapter and the difficulty increases as with the story.

Intel : Gives you some flavor to the story but not in-game effect

Explore : Gives you a series of options that affect your game play. This is where you can Negotiate your way out of a fight, explore a different path, use Science or Engineering to make something happen, etc. This will branch you away from the path to another. You can go back to these sections once you have the required crew member and their skill cost to choose the road not taken

Power-Ups : Gives your team a buff for a few rounds, or the enemy a debuff

Once all your crew are defeated the mission is a failure. You can abandon the story and return at a later time but must star the section of a chapter over.

After completion, a region around the story can be explored by a Shuttle.

Star Trek: Legends – Game Review

Dom Paris

Legendary characters from across the Star Trek Universe feature in the new RPG Star Trek: Legends , but how good is the gameplay?

The past, present and future collide in Star Trek: Legends , a new RPG developed by Emerald City Games and now available exclusively on Apple Arcade. Published by Tilting Point in partnership with ViacomCBS, Star Trek: Legends features a brand-new storyline from comic book author and Star Trek writer Mike Johnson.

We’ve played it, and are loving it, so here is a look into this brand new Trek mobile game and how we found it!

The gameplay of Star Trek: Legends revolves around forming teams of 4 characters and fighting rival teams in turn-based combat. Each character on your team has different abilities you can use to achieve victory against your enemy.

Star Trek: Legends

The combat is surprisingly deep, and you don’t only have to defeat your enemy in one particular way. Instead of dealing enough damage to them, you can actually demoralise them into giving up, which is nice to see. A lot of Trek games run into the issue of how to convey Trek action yet still have an interesting game without devolving into mindless violence, which I think Star Trek: Legends has been able to do. It isn’t as deep as it could be, but it walks a fine line.

Star Trek: Legends

The main part of the game is going through the main story, where you dispatch a group of 4 characters on a mission, where they have to overcome numerous challenges. From waves of enemies to obstacles where you have choices on how to overcome them.

For example, if you come across the door and have an engineer on your team, you may be able to open it, but if you have Worf on your team you also have the choice of simply destroying the door.

Star Trek: Legends

The gameplay is repetitive, so if you do not like the core gameplay of this game it is not for you. However, the variety of characters and their abilities do allow for interesting gameplay that does help to spice it up.

There is also a PVP mode; where you fight against other real peoples strongest units and climb up the rankings, as well as a “Alliance” mode which is essentially the guild system of this game, where you join guilds and take part in events

For a mobile game, it has a surprisingly engaging story. After the Nexus incident of 2371, seen in the movie Star Trek: Generations, Starfleet created the USS Artemis, a vessel that is capable of entering the Nexus and recovering all those that may be lost inside. This is basically the main way the story allows you to collect crew members from various different timelines in Star Trek , from Phlox in Enterprise all the way to Seven of Nine from Voyager !

Star Trek: Legends

The story follows you as the Captain of the USS Artemis, with your three main crew members of Michael Burnham, Dr. Leonard McCoy and Worf! A very interesting mix of characters you wouldn’t normally get, but the strongest part about this is the interactions between these three characters. McCoy wonders how Burnham knows Spock, whilst both McCoy and Burnham are surprised by Worf, a Klingon in Starfleet. I won’t be spoiling the entire story for you, as it seems to not even be finished yet, but it delves into the mystery of the Nexus from Star Trek: Generations in a very interesting way, which makes you appreciate that movie much more, or at least I did.

Star Trek: Legends

I have enjoyed the main story, which makes sense as the story is written by notable Trek comic writer Mike Johnson, who recently wrote the great Star Trek: Picard – Countdown comic series which I also very much enjoyed.

I find that a lot of this recent ancillary content, from the books to this game, do a great job of expanding on the Pandora’s boxes opened by main Trek. Whether this is the recently introduced Mycelium Network established in Star Trek: Discovery being expanded extremely well in the book “Dead Endless” or the Nexus being expanded in this game.

One of the main comments both us and many others have had about this game is its art style, which is absolutely beautiful. Most of the Trek Mobile games go for a 2D realistic art style, as can be seen in Tilting Points previous game “Star Trek: Timelines”. As is obvious the art style is 3D but in a more cartoonish style.

Star Trek: Legends

All the Star Trek: Legends character models look amazing in this art style, and it is great we are getting Trek in more art styles officially compared to just live-action. Returning characters like William T. Riker and Deanna Troi worked extremely well translated into the Star Trek: Lower Decks art style and let’s hope we have the same for Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Prodigy .

Star Trek: Legends

I also should talk about the USS Artemis, NCC 0327. It is a really beautiful looking ship, yet still very original with an iconic saucer and two nacelles look to it. What is interesting and unique about it I guess is its deflector dish being on top of the saucer, and a smaller middle nacelle, which could be used for entering the Nexus? Whatever it is, the ship is a nice addition to Trek ships before it.

Star Trek: Legends

Star Trek: Legends is a game I have massively enjoyed and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is considering playing it. It does not have any of the problems I usually have with mobile games, namely microtransactions and stamina systems which limit how much you can play, and has a really interesting story behind it. Without spoiling any of the story, this game has made me retroactively love Star Trek: Generations even more than I previously did, and that is high praise.

For systems like recruiting characters, it may still be random like most mobile gacha style games, but this game at least tells you the percentage chance of getting that rare character you are trying to recruit. Hopefully, this game will allow for more in-depth Star Trek Role Playing games in the future, on other systems, which would just be great, as it is a space that has been vacant for quite some time. Star Trek: Legends will be supported with future updates and events, so it will be fun to see what characters they bring into the game in the future. The game already has a great variety of characters, but the more the merrier!

Available on Apple Arcade

Star Trek : Legends is now available on Apple Arcade via iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. If you’re new to Apple Arcade, there is a 1 month trial offer on sign up, followed by a £4.99 (UK) /$4.99 (US) monthly charge, or annual plans are available for £49.99/$49.99 plus one month free trial. PVP in Star Trek: Legends unlocks at player level 8 and is fairly straight forward. Your character team will fight against another player's team (who is controlled by AI) that is ranked similar to yours. Your team will earn exp and minor rewards as well as pvp medals upon winning a match allowing you to climb higher in ranking. The current rankings are as follows

You will also earn points every match towards a chest that resets daily. The chest grants rewards that are tied with your ranking and improves with ever new rank.

Star Trek: Legends is a fun RPG caught between two worlds

Neelix Down.

Star Trek: Legends is one of those games I didn't know I needed in my life until I saw it; captains and crew from every generation of the show coming together in a turn-based role-playing game. Dr. Phlox does Final Fantasy, Dukat's Dragon Quest - you get the picture - essentially, an idea I'm astonished I didn't dream up sooner.

It's not exactly that, obviously, but to my surprise, placing Star Trek characters into an RPG like this works. Character quirks translate into abilities pretty well, as combat sees you trade blows with Romulans, Klingons and other notable factions during a series of away missions.

Cover image for YouTube video

Battles are simple but snappy affairs - each encounter takes 30 seconds to a minute to complete - and though you can brute force your way through a fair amount of them, things get interesting when you explore its range of buffs and status effects. My favourite is morale, where not only can foes flee from battle if demoralised enough, but can see you follow up with a bonus attack if yours is particularly high.

For example, I've engineered my party so McCoy gives Riker a stim at the start of battle, so after he sprays the field with bullets to clear away most adversaries in one go, Worf or Torres will likely then wade in to pick off any stragglers - a set up which is carrying me through most battles so far.

That's not to say you can rest on your laurels; you can't revive fallen crew between missions, so keeping an eye on health bars and having your doctor on standby is essential. If things do go awry, the five to 10 minute length of each run means it's little bother to try again - and simple branching paths, which can open up new routes based on your team composition, means you can do things a little different next time.

best star trek legends team

Meanwhile, the overarching story is pretty light - there's some woolly premise of the Nexus returning and timelines coming together - but when the end result is Worf having to explain who the Cardassians and the Borg are to a confused Burnham, you're more than happy to go along for the ride.

The away missions are good fun, but where I'm butting heads with Star Trek: Legends is the systems around them. This is a game that was seemingly designed to be free-to-play at some point - whether things changed when it came to Apple Arcade , which forbids microtransactions, or whether there's still a release planned with them in I don't know - but it still means jumping through hoops and waiting on timers to unlock certain characters and abilities.

Some of these things I don't mind. I enjoy lining up crew members to go on shuttle missions while I'm not playing for bonus rewards and resources, but others, such as cooldowns on store purchases which can help level your party, can feel like artificial ways to slow down progress.

There's also a gacha system for unlocking new crew members, which I'm torn on. Though the game doles out enough decent characters through story missions, achievements and seasonal events without needing to rely on it, a select few - at least early in the game - appear to be locked behind it, which is frustrating when you're looking to amass your fantasy away team.

best star trek legends team

At the very least, the resource it requires (which is, again, earned entirely in-game) flows in steadily so you can try your luck regularly, and the system takes place in the transporter room, with each character taking a few moments to materialise each time - admittedly, a pretty nice touch.

As it stands, a handful of hours in, I'm getting along with Star Trek: Legends's freemium-but-not systems well enough - so much that they only occasionally get in the way of a game that's otherwise phaser targeted to my interests. With more events and missions on the way, I'm interested to see how expansive the roster can get - but at the very least I won't stop until Janeway (who is, for the record, the best captain) beats the odds and finally beams into my ship.

Star Trek's 10 Best Kid-Led Adventures

Here are some of the best Star Trek episodes that put young people in the spotlight.

Collage of youth episodic stills from Next Generation and Deep Space Nine

StarTrek.com

Star Trek routinely recognizes the contributions of young people, and there have been plenty of times that a starship has been saved (or captured!) by children. As a kid, watching episodes of Star Trek that featured people my age taking charge made me feel empowered.

So whether you're young or just young at heart, you may also feel inspired by these episodes where kids take the lead!

" Disaster ," Star Trek: The Next Generation

Trapped in the turbolift without any power, Captain Picard sits on the floor after injuring himself surrounded by three bored kids in 'Disaster'

"Disaster"

Captain Picard is famously uncomfortable around children, and so it is always a joy to see him forced to spend time with them. In this fifth-season episode of The Next Generation , the Enterprise loses power and Picard finds himself trapped in a turbolift with three children and a broken ankle.

Despite his insistence that they leave him behind, the kids insist that they all stay together, and we see Picard soften as he relies on their help to escape the turbolift and climb to safety. This episode also features Counselor Troi taking temporary command of the Enterprise (she holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander, after all), as well as the birth of Molly O'Brien!

" Progress ," Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

On the promenade, Jake and Nog barter yamok sauce for other goods with a patron in 'Progress'

"Progress"

While Deep Space Nine was the grittier, darker series in the Star Trek universe, best friends Jake and Nog always seemed able to make their own fun… and their own trouble. "Progress" is a great example of both.

When Nog overhears that Quark is getting rid of a huge amount of worthless yamok sauce, he and Jake acquire the sauce and embark on a series of trades that begins with the Cardassian condiment and ends with them owning of a parcel of land on Bajor under the name "The Noh-Jay Consortium."

In the end, the boys sell their land to Quark and finally get their latinum. This episode showcases young Jake and Nog's friendship, as well as their negotiating skills and entrepreneurial spirit.

" Miri ," Star Trek : The Original Series

On an Earth-like planet, McCoy, Yeoman Rand, and Kirk huddle near a disheveled teen girl who tells them about how adults on the planet are ravaged by a plague in 'Miri'

"Miri"

In this Original Series episode, the crew finds a planet that appears similar to 1960s Earth with one difference — a lethal virus kills anyone who has experienced puberty.

Having been exposed when they arrived on the planet, Kirk, McCoy, Spock, Yeoman Rand, and two red shirts are now racing against time to find a cure for the deadly disease. Miri, an older girl, acts as the landing party's guide and defender, helping the crew regain lost equipment in order to create a vaccine. The children of this world are then able to live without fear of the virus, and with only a normal amount of fear of puberty.

" The Naked Now ," Star Trek: The Next Generation

Locking himself in Engineering, Wesley Crusher appears on the viewscreen of the bridge in 'The Naked Now'

"The Naked Now"

After encountering a research vessel whose entire crew has perished from an unknown disease, the Enterprise 's crew soon finds themselves infected with an illness that lowers inhibitions and causes a state of extreme intoxication. An afflicted Wesley does what any teen would do — he tricks the engineering crew into a force field and effectively takes control of the ship.

When the adults manage to retake Engineering, a compromised Wesley still finds a way to propel the ship away from a collapsing star, saving them all. This episode serves as a sequel to the Original Series episode " The Naked Time ," which featured the same sickness (resulting in a swashbuckling Sulu). Fans will also remember this as the episode when Data and Security Chief Tasha Yar are, in Data's words, "intimate."

" Collective ," Star Trek: Voyager

Aboard a Borg cube, Seven of Nine holds a Borg infant as three young Borg drones look over in 'Collective'

"Collective"

When the Delta Flyer stumbles upon a malfunctioning Borg Cube, Chakotay, Paris, and Neelix are taken hostage by a group of five juvenile drones, the only survivors of a plague that wiped out the rest of the ship. In the end, Seven is able to talk the children into relinquishing control and leaving their Borg life behind them.

The process of shedding conformity and embracing one's own individuality is a natural part of adolescence, although there are usually fewer cybernetic implants involved. Added bonus — Borg baby!

" And The Children Shall Lead ," Star Trek: The Original Series

Kirk surrounded by a table full of kids enjoying ice cream in 'And The Children Shall Lead'

"And The Children Shall Lead"

The Enterprise discovers a team of dead scientists, and five surviving children who have been given psychic powers by a mysterious humanoid named Gorgan. Typical stuff, really. The kids nearly succeed in taking over the ship, but Kirk's "innate goodness" (in the words of Gorgan) allows him to overcome their psychic grasp. It isn't clear whether the children were under the influence of Gorgan the whole time or if they were just on a pint-sized power trip, but either way they are so grounded!

" Rascals ," Star Trek: The Next Generation

Twelve year old versions of Keiko, Picard, Ro Laren, and Guinan stand on the transporter pad in 'Rascals'

"Rascals"

We've seen our fair share of transporter accidents in the Star Trek universe, from melding two crew members together, to creating an evil twin. But no transporter mishap is stranger than the one that transforms Captain Picard, Guinan, Ensign Ro Laren, and Keiko O'Brien into 12-year-old versions of themselves.

Don't think too much about the physics, and instead focus on how satisfying it is when the tween dream team uses a classroom computer to neutralize the invaders. We're used to our crew being responsible and serious, so it's a treat to see 12-year-old Picard posing as Riker's son and throwing a tantrum. On a sweet closing note, Ensign Ro, deprived of a carefree childhood on occupied Bajor, delays returning to adulthood so that she can enjoy being a kid for the first time.

" In the Cards ," Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Nog and Jake Sisko sit at Quark's Bar looking at a Willie Mays baseball card on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's 'In the Cards'

"In the Cards"

While Jake and Nog's teenage mischief usually lived in the B plots, this episode took them front and center. Jake wants to buy a Willie Mays baseball card for his father at Quark's auction, but an eccentric doctor outbids him. Nog then spearheads a series of favors and barters for the card, bettering the day of everyone in their path, even a suspicious and menacing Weyoun.

Watching Jake and Nog's friendship evolve as they grow up is one of the best parts of Deep Space Nine , and as this series prepared to go into dark territory with the Dominion War this episode served as a good reminder of what the Federation was fighting for.

" The Game ," Star Trek: The Next Generation

Wesley Crusher and Robin Lefler learn more about the addictive game overtaking the Enterprise in 'The Game'

"The Game"

Riker returns from a vacation on Risa with a game that turns out to be addictive and places the crew under a kind of mind control. Wesley, with the help of Ensign Robin Lefler (guest star Ashley Judd) realize something's wrong and races to reverse the effects of the game before they're forced to play.

They manage to reactivate Data, who had been neutralized by Dr. Crusher, and he cures the crew just as Riker's fling from Risa shows up to take control of the Enterprise . This episode teaches us that we should not give in to peer pressure, and that we should not trust everyone we meet on Risa.

" The Corbomite Maneuver ," Star Trek: The Original Series

The Enterprise the real Balok is a child-like entity causing mischief with a dummy puppet in 'The Corbomite Maneuver'

"The Corbomite Maneuver"

The Enterprise is trapped by Commander Balok, who appears on their viewscreen as an imposing blue-skinned figure. Kirk bluffs his way out of this stand-off by claiming that his ship is carrying "corbomite," a highly explosive material that would destroy both ships if ignited. The ruse works and the crew soon discovers that Balok is actually a child (played by Clint Howard) with a penchant for mischief and a now-iconic beverage called tranya. While Howard doesn’t get much screen time, his iconic turn as the child-like Balok continues to be one of the most recognizable references to Original Series in popular culture.

These certainly are not the only times in the Star Trek universe when young people took charge. Star Trek shows us that we all have the ability to save the day, and that age truly is nothing but a number. Pass the tranya and enjoy!

Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows

Star wars just proved thrawn's empire will be far more dangerous than palpatine's, every star wars backlash i've ever seen has really been about the same thing.

  • The modern Star Wars canon blends old Legends ideas with new stories, creating a familiar yet fresh timeline post-Disney acquisition.
  • Concepts such as zombie stormtroopers from Death Troopers and the return of Thrawn have found their way into the new canon timeline.
  • Familiar elements like Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy, the fall of a Solo son, and the crumbling New Republic parallel both Legends and the sequel trilogy era.

The modern Star Wars canon may be a new timeline post-Disney acquisition, but a lot of ideas from the original timeline, now called Legends , are still around today. In 2012, Star Wars and Lucasfilm were purchased by Disney, and in 2014, with plans to make new films, the Star Wars Expanded Universe was officially de-canonized. Referred to as Legends from then on, every book, comic, and game published before April 2014 was considered part of a different timeline.

Star Wars has since released 5 more films, many seasons worth of TV show episodes, and countless books and comics. These are all part of the new canon. From the beginning, this new canon began to make a distinction between itself and the old Legends timeline, particularly in the events of the canon sequel trilogy and High Republic Era . But canon also includes lots of ideas from Legends that have really stuck around and made a name for themselves in the new Star Wars timeline.

What's the best way to watch Star Wars? Here's everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.

10 The Night Troopers, Zombie Stormtroopers

Death troopers & ahsoka.

One of the most iconic books of the later period of Star Wars Legends is Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber. The book chronicles the story of Imperial bioweapons Project I71A, an experimental bioweapon created with knowledge of ancient Sith Alchemy by the Galactic Empire. In other words, it turned an entire Star Destroyer crew into zombies – and that includes zombie stormtroopers .

But this idea didn't end there. The 2023 live action series Ahsoka brought back the concept of zombie stormtroopers, albeit in a very different way . In Ahsoka , the zombies are known as night troopers, and they serve Grand Admiral Thrawn on the extragalactic planet Peridea. These night troopers are also unrelated to the Sith, and are instead raised back to life by the Nightsisters of Dathomir .

9 Obi-Wan Leaves Tatooine On A Rescue Mission

The last of the jedi & obi-wan kenobi.

The Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi made shockwaves with its revelation that the titular character actually left Tatooine during his time in hiding. But as it turns out, this is yet another story that was done first in Star Wars Legends . And much like many of the items on this list, these events differ in many ways outside the broad strokes.

The book series The Last of the Jedi by Jude Watson features Obi-Wan reluctantly leaving Tatooine only one year after Revenge of the Sith , coming to the aid of Ferus Olin, an Order 66 survivor Padawan. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi chronicles Kenobi's mission to rescue a young Leia 10 years after Revenge of the Sith , leading to two duels with Vader. The Last of the Jedi didn't feature any kind of meeting between Vader and Kenobi, but it did set up the framework for the old Jedi to have more adventures during the Dark Times.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith,  which showed Anakin’s fall to the dark side and the rise of Darth Vader. Obi-Wan is hiding on Tatooine and watching over Luke Skywalker before Bail Organa recruits him to save a kidnapped Leia. With a confrontation with Darth Vader inevitable, Obi-Wan Kenobi tells the story of a man of a destroyed alliance fighting to protect the future. Ewan McGregor returns as his fan-favorite Star Wars character, as does Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.

8 Beilert Valance, The Original Bounty Hunter

Star wars (1977) & bounty hunters.

When one thinks of bounty hunters in Star Wars , their mind usually goes to the iconic ones like Boba or Jango Fett, Din Djarin, or even Bossk. But even the earliest of these, Boba Fett, debuted in the Star Wars Holiday Special, in November 1978. Beilert Valance , the terminator-like cyborg bounty hunter, however, first appeared in the original Marvel Star Wars #16 in July 1978, months before Boba Fett. Valance has since been a recurring character in both canon and Legends stories.

First appearing as a minor multi-issue antagonist in several Marvel Star Wars comics by Archie Goodwin, Beilert Valance was a droid-hating cyborg, an irony that tortured the poor former stormtrooper. Then years later, in 2018, Valance reappeared in Star Wars canon comics, eventually helming his own series, Bounty Hunters , written by Ethan Sacks. As far as obscure Legends characters go, Valance is certainly up there – making his triumphant return to canon all the more amazing.

7 The Rakatan Invaders Mentioned In Andor

Dawn of the jedi & andor.

"It's a Kuati Signet. Blue kyber. Sky stone. The ancient world. Celebrates the uprising against the Rakatan invaders."

In the 2022 Star Wars drama series Andor , fan-favorite character Luthen Rael uses a specific crystal as a bargaining chip, saying the line above. It's indeed a familiar kyber crystal, blue in color, and very valuable during the time of the Empire. But it's the way that Luthen describes this crystal, as a celebration of "the uprising against the Rakatan invaders " that makes it so significant.

The Rakata were an incredibly ancient empire that was most famously explored in the Star Wars Legends comic series Dawn of the Jedi by Jon Ostrander and Jan Duursema, but was first introduced in Knights of the Old Republic . They were one of the first species in the galaxy to travel through space, and pioneered hyperspace technology that would later be adopted by other species. What Luthen Rael references as an uprising is likely the story of the Rakata losing their influence due to a plague, and their many slaves, including humans, revolting.

Diego Luna stars as Cassian Andor in Andor, a Disney+ exclusive series set five years before Rogue One. The series follows the titular character as he transitions from a humble thief to a revolutionary icon of the rebellion against the empire. Cassian, a man who tries to keep himself out of confrontations post the destruction of his world, is shoved into the central conflict as he naturally slots into the role of leader. Andor will explore the rebellion's burgeoning days and highlight pivotal events in the Star Wars Franchise before the construction of the Death Star.

6 The Emperor's Return As A Clone With A Fleet

Dark empire & the rise of skywalker.

One of the most memorable concepts from the sequel trilogy, and one with lots of criticism to it, was the return of Emperor Palpatine. Discovered on the Sith planet Exegol with a hidden fleet, the Emperor had returned to life by transferring his essence into clone bodies that were gradually decaying. But this was actually a concept taken directly from an infamous Star Wars Legends comic story.

Dark Empire by Tom Veitch and Cam Kennedy debuted in late 1990, and told pretty much the same story conceptually. In Dark Empire , the fledgling New Republic was challenged by a clone of the Emperor . He wanted to conquer the galaxy using a fleet of World Devastators , specially designed ships that could produce squadrons upon squadrons of new starfighters while destroying a planet's surface. The Rise of Skywalker less than subtly uses the same story beat to launch its own plot.

Star Wars: Episode IX- The Rise of Skywalker

This is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and serves as the culmination of the Skywalker saga. The film sees Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe (Oscar Isaac), and Finn (John Boyega) team up to put an end to the First Order after Palpatine mysteriously returns. Jurassic World helmsman Colin Trevorrow was originally named director back in 2015 when the film first entered development, but he parted ways with Lucasfilm due to creative differences over the script. In September 2017, Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams signed on to finish what he started.

5 The Sith World Of Malachor

Knights of the old republic & rebels.

The Star Wars Rebels season 2 finale took viewers to Malachor, an ancient Sith world where a disastrous battle took place. This is the location where, in Twilight of the Apprentice , Ahsoka has her climactic duel with Darth Vader. But this location was not new for Star Wars , and actually hearkens back to another classic Star Wars Legends story.

Malachor V, as it's known in Legends , was an incredibly significant part of the Knights of the Old Republic games . It was the location of the final battle of the Mandalorian Wars, where Jedi General Revan killed Mandalore the Ultimate, and a superweapon called the Mass Shadow Generator was activated, subsequently breaking the planet's crust. This is similar to the canon story, which also involved the activation of a superweapon, turning an ancient battle's combatants to statues.

Star Wars Rebels

Set between Episodes III and IV of the Star Wars film franchise, Star Wars Rebels is a canon animated series that follows a group of ragtag heroes who band together to face the Empire. In an age where the Galactic Empire is hunting down the last of the Jedi, a teenage outcast named Ezra Bridger is discovered to be force sensitive by a surviving Jedi known as Kanan Jarrus. Agreeing to join them and accept Jedi training, Ezra becomes a part of a small but growing crew of rebels determined to destroy the empire covertly.

4 Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy

Jedi academy trilogy & book of boba fett.

When Yoda told Luke Skywalker to pass on what he had learned in Return of the Jedi , the Luke of either continuity didn't take it lightly. Then in 2022, The Book Of Boba Fett unexpectedly showed us Luke Skywalker's Jedi Temple under construction, and the training of Luke's first student. Unsurprisingly, this is another topic that was well explored in Star Wars Legends .

Beginning in Kevin J Anderson's landmark Jedi Academy Trilogy, as the name suggests, Luke begins his training academy on the moon Yavin 4, where the Rebel Alliance's base was during the Battle of Yavin. In canon, the temple's location is Ossus , the ancient Jedi library world. Both academies gain lots of students, but eventually face fiery fates in the upcoming conflicts, the Yuuzhan Vong War and First Order Resistance War.

3 The Fall Of A Solo Son

The star wars sequel trilogy & legacy of the force.

In both Star Wars canons, Han Solo and Leia Organa's children play a pivotal role in the storyline post- Return of the Jedi . In Legends , they have twins Jacen and Jaina Solo, and another son Anakin Solo. In canon, the two have just one son, Ben Solo. In both timelines, these young people take the lead in Luke's Jedi Order as the years go on. But there is a sinister fate awaiting a Solo son in both timelines as well.

In both the Dark Nest & Legacy of the Force book series, set 35+ years after the original trilogy, and the sequel trilogy, set 34+ years after the original trilogy, the son of Han and Leia sadly falls to the dark side. Legends communicates this much clearer over the course of many books, meanwhile canon has yet to show in detail Ben Solo's complicated fall to the dark side. The similarities don't end conceptually, though, as both dark side Solo sons lead a second Galactic Civil War and kill members of their families .

2 The Crumbling New Republic

The new jedi order & the sequel trilogy era.

The New Republic , the government established by the Rebellion after their victory at the Battle of Jakku , has been a central focus of modern Star Wars stories. But a lot of what's been shown has been its growing complacency as the galaxy's central power leading into the sequel trilogy. This idea is not unique to canon, though and played a major part in the Legends 19-book-long New Jedi Order series.

During that series, the New Republic is complacent against the growing invasion force of the Yuuzhan Vong, aliens from another galaxy. This leads to their ill-preparedness and eventual destruction at the Battle of Coruscant, leading to remnants needing to regroup and form a new government. Something very similar happens in canon, albeit smaller and quicker, with the First Order's rise and destruction of the New Republic at Hosnian Prime , with both scenarios leaving a Resistance around to pick up the pieces.

1 Thrawn's Return To The Galaxy

The thrawn trilogy & ahsoka.

After his disappearance in the finale of Star Wars Rebels , the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn were hotly debated among fans. That was, until Ahsoka revealed that he was stuck in a separate galaxy on a world known as Peridea. In the series, through communications with the Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth, Thrawn manages to gain access to a route back to the galaxy.

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, Star Wars' newest Disney+ TV show, revealed that the Empire could have been even more powerful with Thrawn in charge.

This very clearly and intentionally reflects the beginning of the Thrawn Trilogy of Legends . The Thrawn trilogy depicts the return of Thrawn to the known galaxy, preparing to take on a fledgling New Republic and restore the Empire, just like Ahsoka does . While the end of Thrawn's fate in canon is unknown, Legends may be the place to look for hints, seeing everything that Star Wars canon has already repurposed from the beloved older timeline.

Ahsoka is a Sci-Fi television series based in the Star Wars universe developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Starring Rosario Dawson, this series follows Ahsoka Tano as she works with Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), her trusty droid Huyang (David Tennant), and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) to prevent the return of the villanious Grand Admiral Thrawn. Ahsoka acts as a live-action continuation of the animated series Star Wars: Rebels.

The Big Picture

  • I Love Lucy remains one of the most-watched programs ever.
  • Getting Harpo Marx on the show was challenging due to health issues.
  • The mirror routine between Lucy and Harpo was iconic but required lots of rehearsal.

Almost since its inception, sitcoms have always been the backbone of U.S. television. The format may have changed over the years, but the genre continues to endure. While recent hits like Young Sheldon and Modern Family have made history on the modern front, no show is more groundbreaking than I Love Lucy . Starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, the hit series revolutionized the early days of television and created some of the most memorable moments in history .

To date, it remains one of the most-watched programs of all time, thanks to syndication and streaming. Having produced 180 episodes over six seasons, plus 13 one-hour-long follow-up installments under the title The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour , nearly everyone in the world has a different favorite episode. From the famous chocolate factory gag in the episode “Job Switching” to the beloved “We’re Having a Baby” segment, it’s hard to narrow down the show’s “best” moment . But, without a doubt, one of the most fascinating episodes occurred during Season 4, when the Ricardos, along with Ethel ( Vivian Vance ) and Fred Mertz ( William Frawley ), head out to Hollywood. Lucy caused quite a few memorable stirs as she met some of Classic Hollywood’s greatest stars . For most, her most infamous run-in was with John Wayne , but her most satisfying was the time she met Harpo Marx . Both endlessly funny and beautifully executed, it remains one of TV’s most beloved moments . However, bringing the pair together was a much harder task than most realized.

  • I Love Lucy

The wife of a band leader constantly tries to become a star - in spite of her having no talent, and gets herself (along with her best friend) into the funniest predicaments.

It Wasn’t Easy to Get Harpo on ‘I Love Lucy’

By the time I Love Lucy came about, the Marx Brothers were already beloved stars. In fact, they’d previously worked with Ball in the 1938 film Room Service during her studio contract days . With all the stars that had already passed through I Love Lucy and Ball’s past partnership with them, one would assume it wouldn’t be very hard at all to get Harpo to appear. However, the beloved Marx Brother faced several personal issues that would make the casting a challenge .

We Wouldn't Have Star Trek Without Lucille Ball

The 'I Love Lucy' star was instrumental in shaping the future of the science fiction series.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment , Harpo’s son, Bill Marx , recalled that his father had recently suffered a heart attack . Though only 67 at the time, Marx had retired from showbusiness as a result and moved to Palm Springs, per Woman’s World . But with the episode written specifically for him, Bill Marx says that his father’s doctor did clear him to perform. But securing Marx was only half the battle. The actor had quite a bit to do throughout the half-hour, and there was a lot of physical comedy built into the story.

‘I Love Lucy’ was Physically Challenging for Harpo Marx

Though he was playing himself , Marx’s appearance on I Love Lucy was not easy . The installment sees Lucy caught in a jam after stretching the truth in letters she sent to her friend, Carolyn Appleby ( Doris Singleton ). Convinced Lucy is now close to many of Hollywood’s greats, Carolyn comes out to Los Angeles. Lucy stages an afternoon of fake celebrity sightings right there in the hotel before Ricky and Fred run into Harpo. They ask him to head upstairs and help Lucy out. When he arrives, Lucy is done up in a Harpo disguise. She hides, which allows Harpo to perform. According to the Yahoo interview with Marx’s son, the physical demand of the episode was not lost on anyone, considering Harpo’s condition.

The sequence sees Marx carry in his famous harp and play “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” before getting up, chasing Carolyn, and throwing her over his shoulder. But, despite Harpo’s health, he performed the stunt. As his son is quoted: “When people see this show, that is… his professionalism… You can’t make a mistake. You have to do it, otherwise you have to do it again, and the audience has already laughed at it. It’s not as funny anymore.” Marx performed the scene without a hitch, and, with the knowledge of all his difficulties, it’s a marvel to watch . The comedy is brilliantly executed , going from Marx’s impressively touching performance on the harp to his over-the-top shenanigans. To watch it, one would never even guess how unwell he had been. But the best part of his performance was still to come and would provide one final challenge.

Lucy and Harpo’s Mirror Routine Had Its Own Challenges

The episode’s most famous sequence comes when Harpo discovers the hiding Lucy. She tries to convince him that he is looking at himself in a mirror. The result is one of the most iconic moments in the history of television. Lucy mirrors Harpo’s every move before eventually being caught. The sequence is both hysterical and fascinating to watch. But many don’t realize the skit was lifted from a Marx Brothers film called Duck Soup .

In an interview on The Dick Cavett Show , Lucille Ball, who remained fond of Marx long after his passing, revealed that Marx kept changing the routine while shooting. She said he was so used to working alone that the I Love Lucy crew had to re-teach Harpo his own routine . Marx’s son, who was working on the set as a prop man, confirmed this when talking to Yahoo TV, saying, “He had to get it out of his mind, what he did in Duck Soup and in Vaudeville, whereas Lucy just had to learn for the first time what to do as Harpo. There was a lot of rehearsal that went into it to make it as good as it was.” But “good” doesn’t do the sequence justice. Though it may have taken a lot of rehearsing, the scene remains one of the best moments of the series. This is no small feat, considering how many iconic scenes the show produced . It’s a testament to the talent of both legends and a moment of star power that has never been recreated.

I Love Lucy has no shortage of great comedic moments. But Lucille Ball and Harpo Marx’s mirror routine is really something special. It was no small feat to make due to Marx’s illness and the physical challenges that came with the script. However, Harpo’s professionalism and enthusiasm fueled his performance and made for one of the greatest moments in the history of sitcoms .

I Love Lucy is available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Stars Became 'Besties' Like Their Characters

It's little wonder that Star Trek: Lower Decks charmed many with its first, rather humorous, take on the Star Trek universe, actually fleshing out an actual friendship between lead actors Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid . The two spent five years working hand in glove with one another to bring to life a character dynamic, at moments playful and heartfelt, in the voices of Lieutenants Beckett Mariner and Bradward Boimler.

As the fifth and final season of the series launches on October 24, fans will say goodbye to the USS Cerritos and its crew . At the same time, this Newsome-Quaid friendship will long outlast the animated series when it concludes on Paramount+.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Showrunner Suggests Final Season Leaves Door Open for More Stories

Mike McMahan teases how the cast of Star Trek: Lower Decks "go through a change" in its final season while leaving some room for future growth.

Per Screen Rant , Newsome shared a few reflections on her bond with Quaid during an STLV panel that included the Lower Decks cast. She spoke warmly about how playing Mariner and Boimler brought her and Quaid into a real brother-sister relationship , much like their characters portrayed in the show.

The real feelings between them spilled onto the screen, and fans responded to that chemistry on and off the camera. And as Lower Decks heads into its final season, the close-knit relationship between its stars remains one of its most lasting legacies.

Newsome and Quaid On Their Future in Star Trek

While Star Trek: Lower Decks is ending, Newsome's time with the Star Trek franchise is far from over. Alex Kurtzman, the executive producer of Star Trek , described Newsome as a " stone-cold assassin " in the writers' room -- high praise that has now seen her recruited for work on the upcoming series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy .

Beyond that, Newsome is also developing Star Trek's first-ever live-action half-hour comedy , which she has termed her " dream of dreams ." Given how close the friends are, there's a theory floating around that maybe Newsome will find some way to include Quaid in her new Star Trek ventures.

Star Trek Actors Band Together to Save Lower Decks

With the cancelation of Star Trek: Lower Decks, fans gather Star Trek actors to help save the show.

For Quaid, though, things aren't so clear about his future in the world of Star Trek . The actor has been in high demand lately, having starred in Oppenheimer , The Boys , and the upcoming My Adventures of Superman . Nevertheless, Quaid is still an admirer of Star Trek and Boimler to his core. He would no doubt be willing to reappear if it were ever possible. Hopefully, fans hold out for this hope -- that Mariner and Boimler's journey gets picked up somewhere, maybe even within Newsome's upcoming comedy series.

The fifth season closes things out for Star Trek: Lower Decks , both for the series and fans. Just as the characters are allowed to bid each other farewell, the friendship that Newsome and Quaid have built will serve as a reminder of the close-knit relationships cultivated off-screen. Whether they do it again in the future or not, their connection ensures that Mariner and Boimler will live on and off-screen.

Across five seasons of the Paramount+ animated series “ Star Trek: Lower Decks ,” the voice cast got so close that costar Jerry O’Connell invited his fellow actors and “Lower Decks” creator Mike McMahan to his birthday party — where he read them a poem dedicated to their friendships.

“He had a printed-out set of papers — plural — that he read from,” joked McMahan.

“I love ‘Lower Decks,’ we’re a family,” O’Connell said. “And I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my cast.”

Related Stories

Take-two earnings emblematic of endless risk-taking in gaming biz, latin grammys predictions: shakira gunning for multiple nominations, mon laferte and peso pluma among frontrunners.

“Star Trek: Lower Decks” follows the supporting crew of one of Starfleet’s most insignificant starships, the U.S.S Cerritos. Coincidentally, the first time O’Connell and Newsome met was at Comic-Con to unveil the first season of “Lower Decks,” an announcement which, according to O’Connell, was not received as well as they hoped.

“I met Tawny here at Comic-Con exactly five years ago when we announced the show…it was not thunderous applause,” said O’Connell. “It was rough announcing it.”

“It was a confused Hall H,” added McMahan.

Four years and two Emmy nominations later, “Lower Decks” is heading towards its series finale. Although it may seem natural for the show to end when the “Lower Decks” crew is inevitably promoted to higher ranks, McMahan feels he left the show in a place where the character’s stories could keep going.

“You do get to see everybody grow up in Season 5,” McMahan said. “To me, there isn’t a natural end to being ‘Lower Decks’ because I feel like I am still learning stuff all the time. So yes, the characters do go through a change this season, but ultimately where we end, you don’t feel like they aren’t still ‘Lower Decks’ and that we couldn’t keep telling those kinds of stories.”

With almost six decades of lore to pull from, fans can expect plenty of references to past “Star Trek” series in Season 5. Newsome teased the return of a “Star Trek” icon in the new season in an unexpected and rather grotesque way.

“There is a piece of a legacy character, and Noël’s character, Tendi, gets to spend a lot of time with them,” McMahan added. “There is a running theme across the season of these space potholes that the U.S.S Cerritos is closing that are these rifts in space. We had been given enough of a heads up that this could potentially be our final season, and so I suddenly opened up the cupboard of ideas and was like, ‘Alright, what are some mechanics to get all sorts of crazy things to happen in this season?'”

  1. What is the current best PvP team? : r/StarTrekLegendsiOS

I tend to win at about a 80% rate, and usually with the full team intact. Scotty has a good first attack on the entire opposing team (removing cover) and provides shield later if necessary.

  2. Best team I have for cruising through missions : r ...

For just flying through the content, my non-stop group was Riker, Odo (Tank that takes all the hits from the rest of the group), Data or Laforge and Mccoy but I found that as of Episode 5, getting to 100% completion isn't easy at all. For example, my Riker (Rank 5) is now at 3612 @ lvl 90 which is just below the 3615 he needs to unlock a path ...

  3. What is the best possible pvp team? : r/StarTrekLegendsiOS

Kirk, McCoy, Riker, Worf perfect speed order. Double buff riker with kirk and McCoy, covering fire then let Worf and Kirk pluck off the stragglers. If there is still someone alive at that point the Kirk orbital strike is right around the corner. I go with Sela, T'Pol, Kira, and Tomalak most of the time.
