Where Was Bad Trip Filmed?

of Where Was Bad Trip Filmed?

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, ‘Bad Trip’ is a hidden-camera comedy film that tells the story of two friends, Chris Carey (Eric André) and Bud Malone (Lil Rel Howery), as they travel from their hometown in Florida to New York City so that Chris can ask out his high-school crush Maria Li (Michaela Conlin). Hot on their heels is Bud’s sister and convicted criminal Trina Malone (Tiffany Haddish), whose car the two friends have stolen. The film depicts their riotously funny misadventures and the pranks that the cast pulls on real bystanders.

Both Sakurai and the Director of Photography Andrew Laboy are André’s long-time collaborators, having worked on ‘The Eric Andre Show.’ So, they are very much familiar with André’s particular brand of physical comedy and the danger that obviously comes with it. If you are wondering which locations the filmmakers used to shoot this cross-country road comedy, here is what we know.

Bad Trip Filming Locations

The film took shape over the course of seven-and-a-half years. André, Sakurai, and Laboy shot the film in several locations in Georgia, New York, California, and South Carolina. Let’s take a look at the specific filming sites of ‘Bad Trip.’

Atlanta, Georgia

The production crew for ‘Bad Trip’ shot a significant portion of the film in Atlanta, Georgia. Colloquially called the Hollywood of the South, the capital city has a thriving film industry and has been a preferred destination for filmmakers for decades. While promoting the movie, André shared an incident in which he and Howery nearly got stabbed while filming a scene in Atlanta.

The two actors had their penises stuck inside a Chinese finger trap and ventured into a barbershop. This prompted the owner to pursue them with a knife. Eventually, the security had to step in. When the man learned that they were shooting a movie, he was much more accommodating. In another scene, André’s character gets violated by a gorilla in a zoo while the horrified real bystanders look on. Initially, this was set to be filmed at the Atlanta Zoo. But when the management learned the exact nature of the scene, they backed out. It was subsequently filmed in a zoo located in rural Georgia.

New York City, New York

Most of the last act of the movie is set in New York City. There are several shots of the famous New York skyline in the film. One of the most important cultural hubs in the world, New York has an entertainment industry that rivals the might of Los Angeles. ‘ Black Panther ,’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ and ‘Jurassic World’ are some of the movies filmed in the Big Apple.

The cast and crew of ‘Bad Trip’ shot some scenes in the US state of California. As the Mecca of entertainment, Hollywood, is located in California, many of the world’s biggest studios are headquartered in the Golden State. Films like ‘ Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens ,’ ‘ Avengers: Endgame ,’ and ‘ Avatar ’ were shot there.

South Carolina

The Palmetto State also hosted the production crew for a while. In the past, ‘ Forrest Gump ,’ ‘The Waterboy,’ and ‘Halloween (2018)’ were also filmed in South Carolina.

'Bad Trip' Probably Wouldn't Have Worked if It Had All Been Filmed in One Place — or at One Time

Chrissy Bobic - Author

Apr. 5 2021, Updated 4:43 p.m. ET

If you take Bad Grandpa and mix in a little bit of Borat , you'll probably get something like Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery's Bad Trip . It's a semi-scripted comedy about two friends who travel across the country so one of them can declare love to their high school crush. Instead of a typical road trip movie, though, there are lots of hidden camera pranks and moments with unsuspecting locals from different places across the United States.

Some viewers are now wondering where and when Bad Trip was filmed. Eric and Lil Rel actually traveled to a few different states, so in that regard, the movie is totally legit. And many of the people who ended up falling prey to their pranks or just being witness to their antics were real too. There were still scripted moments, but regardless, it's one of those secondhand embarrassment movies you can't look away from.

So, where was 'Bad Trip' filmed?

According to IMDb, Bad Trip was filmed in California, Georgia, South Carolina, and New York City. The premise of the movie takes best friends Bud (Lil Rel) and Chris (Eric) on a road trip while Bud's prison escapee sister ( Tiffany Haddish ) follows the breadcrumbs they accidentally leave behind. Along the way, the pair's hijinks get them into all sorts of trouble with people who believe everything they're doing and saying is real — including when one of them risks his life on the roof of a building.

Because there are so many pranks played on people who have no idea they're even being filmed, it makes sense that Eric and Lil Rel had to take their movie on the road. If they had stayed in one area, it would have been much harder for local people to believe that everything they got themselves into was legitimate. It still doesn't make any of it less embarrassing for viewers at home, though.

When was 'Bad Trip' filmed?

Eric told Men's Health that Bad Trip was in the making for quite some time. If you noticed that no one in the film was wearing a mask or social distancing, there's a reason for that — the movie was made way before COVID-19 was a thing. It was filmed between October 2017 and December 2018. So, why is Bad Trip just coming out now?

According to Eric, Bad Trip 's team "finished editing in April 2019, and then we were going to come out in the fall of 2019, and there was a conflicting movie, so we pushed to 2020. And then we got into SXSW, a killer timeslot at SXSW, one of the headliners. And then we were going to premiere worldwide in theaters everywhere in April, and have SXSW be like the sneak peek kickoff. And then the world went to s--t and collapsed."

How real is 'Bad Trip'?

The big concern for most fans is if Bad Trip is indeed real. That's the million-dollar question that Jackass and Borat fans have had over the years too. Even if someone may have recognized Eric or Lil Rel, their pranks and the reactions of those they involve in them are all legit in Bad Trip . In fact, as Lil Rel explained to Entertainment Weekly , one prank that involved him and Eric being attached together by prosthetic penises with a finger trap almost got them into serious trouble.

"We ended up going to the wrong barbershop where the security wasn't there," he said. "Seeing our penises attached in this finger trap was [the barber's] worst nightmare, where he's like, 'Yo, if I ever see this, I'm going to murder somebody.' But he had to say that before in his head, because I don't know anybody that would have gotten that mad before ... He picked up a knife that he was using to shave somebody and chased us out the barbershop."

Had I seen BAD TRIP in theaters, I might not be alive today. This movie is streaming on Netflix to save lives. You can pause to breathe. — Sean Mulvihill (@NotSPMulvihill) March 27, 2021

He added that the film's security guard was able to step in to make sure nothing serious happened. The fact that there was security available nearby doesn't mean any of Bad Trip is less legitimate, though. The movie was filmed with real pranks, real reactions, and safeguards in place to make sure the stars made it out OK.

Now streaming on:

A smoothie shop employee with butterflies in his stomach and a bleeding right hand sits next to an older gentleman on a bench. “Can I ask you something?” he prefaces. The worker then proceeds to babble about his crush, Maria. Should he follow her to New York City, and leave Florida behind? The older man offers advice—speaking from the heart—and it fills the younger man’s soul, so much that he leaps from the bench and bursts into song. It’s this young guy’s big romantic moment, and he dances away before almost getting hit by a car, and then sings at people inside a mall, in which one patron tries to side-kick him.

This hilarious sequence, which overlaps cliché storytelling with the unassuming public, is just one of many endearing moments in “Bad Trip,” a hidden camera comedy gem starring Eric André , Lil Rel Howery , and Tiffany Haddish that’s finally coming out on Netflix. Directed by Kitao Sakurai , the previous director behind numerous episodes of “The Eric André Show,” it shows an evolution in the hidden camera subgenre, given its warming spirit about people. Unlike the films that previously defined the subgenre, it’s not so much about creating a freak show from unsuspecting extras, but in noting what one would do when confronted with someone as delusional as André’s character Chris. Natural human behavior can be extremely funny, and Sakurai and André know it’s possible to bring it out of people without being mean-spirited. Footage in the end credits of the real people excited to learn that they’re in a movie—a comfort for us as well—confirms the chaos is controlled physically and emotionally, and that allows it to be a party.

“Bad Trip” is an excellent showcase for Eric André—it’s more mainstream than his talk-show-in-hell “The Eric André Show” and less watered down than his recent resume-boosting, commercial work like “The Lion King” and elsewhere. This role lets him scream, sprint, crash into things, and show off that he’s a sweetheart who wants to include you his absurdity. It’s no stretch to say that André is going to be a huge comedic force—I knew this when I caught his Legalize Everything stand-up tour in Chicago in 2019, when he had a sold-out Chicago Theater completely wrapped up in his FaceTime-ing with the parents of random audience members. He’s an affable anarchist with Robin Williams-like verve, and this project lets his burgeoning persona run wild alongside what the film advertises as “Real People. Real Pranks.”

André's hilarious earnest Chris is joined in the movie by Lil Rel Howery, who would have been known enough at the time of filming from his scene-stealing turn in “ Get Out ,” but is disguised as Chris’ reserved friend Bud. They have adorable chemistry as two friends in Florida who decide to drive to New York to reunite Chris with his high school crush Maria ( Michaela Conlin ) after two disastrous brief run-ins at Eric’s jobs. They support each other, like when Chris gets extremely drunk at a cowboy bar, or Bud finds himself inside a Porta Potty. Chris is the wide-eyed dreamer, and Bud is the demure rationalist. Their chemistry is as pure as the Golden Girls, so “Thank You For Being a Friend” is featured prominently in the soundtrack, in between scenes of slapstick pranks that further their road trip.

When Bud and Chris need a car to get to New York City, they “borrow” the bright pink Crown Vic that belongs to Bud’s sister, Trina (Tiffany Haddish), who Bud fears but is relieved when she's put in jail for breaking house arrest. And yet soon enough, Haddish crawls out from under a prison bus, having broken out and starts looking for her car. When it’s not where she stored it, she hunts Bud and Chris up the Eastern seaboard, making for some incredibly funny, abrasive scenes of her confronting people about whether they’ve seen them or her car that has “Bad Bitch” written on the window. Haddish bulldozes into every set-piece, exemplifying the film’s over-the-top spirit. When talking to progressively uncomfortable strangers, she doesn’t miss a beat and she relishes the opportunity to appear dangerous; when she steals a cop car and burns out of a donut shop parking lot, it’s one of her many triumphant moments.

“Bad Trip” is a collision of great improvisational actors and authentically bewildered reactions from people unaware that they’re now in Chris’ story—which makes Michaela Conlin’s performance as Maria all the more an essential middle to its Venn diagram. She enters the movie also as an innocent bystander, but that’s a deceptive comic energy that plays out in very funny ways as she pushes back against Chris’ delusions. In Chris’ prank-based daydreams, Conlin matches André’s intensity; that she has to play it straight in later scenes adds to the tension she creates, like when Chris tries to profess his love to her.

Just how funny is “Bad Trip”? After two viewings, it’s one of those comedies with a stable laughing average and high replay value, even if it doesn’t always hit you as hard. It knowingly plays a hit-and-miss game, and some scenes don’t entirely work (like a grocery store drug trip that plays out like a soft tribute to “The Eric Andre Show”), while other pranks go for discomfort more than big laughs (like when Chris gets gas springing all over a gas station). But the movie has speediness on its side, with pacing that takes the plotting from one prank to the next, often including crowds of people in the latest big dramatic confrontation that comes from Bud and Chris’ expected emotional arc. (A sudden car crash sequence is particularly well planned out, with cameras and extras ready nearby.) It’s a steady build to its ultimate destination of NYC, and every major set piece is constructed to bubble with discomfort before then skyrocketing over the top. An early scene at Chris’ smoothie shop job only begins with him making the drinks without spoons—it escalates to awkward tension with disgusted, annoyed customers, and then boom, a laugh-out-loud, gory finale that hits with impeccable, unexpected timing.

If certain parts of “Bad Trip” aren’t as out-and-out cry-laughing as the work put into them desires, the story is still involving as it adds the dimensionality of unscripted human behavior. And it doesn’t continue the hidden camera movie’s waning intention of dunking on dummies, a factor that also makes this story more fluid than the start-and-stop traps, primed for reaction shots, in something like “Jackass”-spinoff like “Bad Grandpa.” That’s the true sweet spot, in how its pranks are engineered to get the unexpected to interact with Bud, Chris, and or Trina, and see if strangers try to help. (“You turned on us!” says Chris, after a golfer starts swinging a club at Chris and Bud while their penises are enjoined by a Chinese fingertrap.) An amazing scene comes at a tense mid-point, when Trina appears at a restaurant, spreading around fliers with Bud and Chris’ dopey faces on them, advertising her desire to kill the two. She leaves. Bud and Chris then show up at the same place minutes later, and everyone’s response, with some people trying to warn them, and others not wanting to get caught in the middle, is incredible. “Bad Trip” knows how to stir things up, and its funniest scenes often involve real people getting in the mix, tested by the brilliant skills of André, Howery, and Haddish. The ways that some people react to their pranks might shock you in some ways, and absolutely will not in others.

‘Bad Trip’ Review: On the Road, Leaking Fluid

Two pranksters, and a brace of hidden cameras, travel across country in this jauntily gross comedy.

  • Share full article

bad trip film location

By Jeannette Catsoulis

Strictly for devotees of degrading pranks and public humiliation, Kitao Sakurai’s “Bad Trip” — a “Jackass”-style road movie belching clouds of poor taste — follows two hapless dreamers from Florida to New York City.

Strapping squalid stunts on the back of a dopey narrative, this hidden-camera Netflix comedy sends Chris (Eric Andre, of the supremely weird “The Eric Andre Show” ) and his friend Bud (Lil Rel Howery) on a cross-country quest for romance. Chris has learned that his onetime high-school crush (Michaela Conlin) is working in a Manhattan art gallery, and he plans to declare his still-fervent devotion.

Contrasting the starry-eyed innocence of this goal with the pair’s repellent misadventures en route, the screenplay (by Andre, Sakurai and Dan Curry) concentrates on bathing its leads in as many noxious emissions as possible. Fake vomit, urine and gorilla ejaculate squirt across the screen as our heroes horrify the unsuspecting patrons of a cowboy bar and a zoo, exemplifying pranks queasily fixated on orificial and genital abuse. Bud’s wrathful sister (Tiffany Haddish), whose beloved car the two have pinched, might be murderously in pursuit, but she can take her time: Her prey won’t get very far with their penises stuck in a Chinese finger trap.

However effortful, the movie’s tricks are more likely to activate your gorge than your funny bone. An end-credits reveal of the hidden cameras to the film’s good-natured dupes has a humorous purity that’s unexpected and appealing — if far too late to mitigate the dreck that has gone before.

Bad Trip Rated R. Did I mention the gorilla ejaculate? Running time: 1 hour 24 minutes. Watch on Netflix.

What to Watch

‘Bad Trip’

‘Bad Trip’

Eric André, Tiffany Haddish and Lil Rey Howery pull increasingly wild pranks on unsuspecting members of the public with the help of some hidden cameras in 2021’s Bad Trip . In less than 90 minutes, André manages to include a bloody blender incident, a full-frontal moment at the mechanic and an impressively disgusting projectile vomit scene in a bar filled with real (unlucky) patrons. And that’s just skimming the surface, really, of what Esquire once called “somewhat of a snuff film,” thanks to the near-death experiences André encountered filming Bad Trip . All that being said, you’ve been warned: it’s one crazy ride, so buckle up.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, this cult classic is a staple of the "one crazy night" genre as Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) endures a series of midadventures in Soho when he agrees to a late-night ... ‘Bad Trip’: Eric Andre, Tiffany Haddish and Lil Rel Howery Prank America

  • By David Fear

It makes a certain kind of sense that Bad Trip, Eric André’s entry into the Gonzo Comedy Hall of Fame (see: Jackass, Borat, Bad Grandpa ), starts in Florida. Not that the other 49 states of this fine U.S. of A. don’t have their share of goofballs, chowderheads, numbskulls, fuck-ups and jag-offs; it’s just that this particular Southeastern one has a reputation for American eccentricity that results in eyes bugging out, jaws dropping and shit going very wrong. Those “Florida Man” headlines are well-earned.

And the “Florida Man” energy is strong in this one, right from the get-go: No sooner has the comedian appeared onscreen, rocking a mechanic’s jumpsuit and washing a BMW in a West Grove car wash, then something genuinely WTF happens. If you’ve seen the trailer, you know it involves a vacuum hose and full frontal nudity. It also involves a customer who has no idea that he’s part of an elaborate prank that’s been set up for several rolling cameras, someone who is neither in on the joke nor the butt of it. The guy is just an innocent bystander who suddenly finds himself in the middle of a situation he hadn’t planned for or even possibly imagined, while a naked man tries desperately not to show his dick and balls to the world. “Florida Man Loses Clothes, Flashes Customers in Bizarre Car Detailing Accident.” Normally, you can’t make this stuff up. André engineers it like he’s in charge of a NASA launch.

The scene is over way, way too soon — a problem that plagues a lot of Bad Trip ‘s gotcha scenarios, but that’s the risk you take when you’re literally putting your ass out there when making variable-heavy comedy — but it still does what it needs to do, i.e. set the tone and set up the “story.” Note the scare quotes; abandon all hope, ye who want a narrative here, which is frankly missing the point. This is no more a movie than The Eric André Show is a talk show. (Though the director, Kitao Sakurai, has also worked on that Adult Swim gem.) It’s a delivery system for strung-together Situationist happenings and performance art, a fancy way of saying that everyday people get co-opted into sometime highly elaborate, often hilarious, remarkably effective smart-comics-doing-really-dumb-and-gross shit. Including, in one case, a bit that may or may not have involved being covered in actual fecal matter. We don’t know just how Jackass things got here.

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

Right, sorry, the story: So when Chris (André) is cleaning the unsuspecting gent’s car, a second customer drives up. Her name is Maria (Michaela Conlin), and she was Chris’s high school crush. He was going to ask her out, but then whoosh go his clothes. Later, he finds out she lives in New York and runs an art gallery. If he’s ever town, drop by and see her. So Chris grabs his best friend Bud (Lil Rel Howery), they take the pink Crown Victoria that belongs to Bud’s sister, Trina ( Tiffany Haddish ) — she’s in prison, it’s all good — and plan a road trip to visit Chris’s soulmate. When Trina “releases” herself from the clink, she finds out that her car’s been stolen and decides to track these guys down across the Eastern seaboard.

There’s a version of Bad Trip in which you pay attention to this tender story of best friends who’ll do anything for each other, who have their ups and downs but still have each other’s backs, rednecks and psycho siblings and cops be damned. The version you’ll probably want to push to the forefront, however, is the one where these three comedians, respectively and together, stage the kind of truly outrageous shenanigans that make you wonder how the hell they got out of these scenes alive. Looking at my notes, I see nothing but a series of phrases: “Chinese Finger Trap,” “Smoothie Shop Blender,” “Cowboy Bar,” “Projectile Vomiting,” “A Priest,” “The Hamptons,” “Gorilla Selfie.” (That last one is genuinely above and beyond the call of duty.) To try and explain what they mean wouldn’t do the gags justice, though I will say that a sequence involving a a movie-musical number in a mall — which includes singing, dancing, a giant wedding cake and the threat of actual violence — is a work of genius.

In other, the sheer hilariousness of a number of individual bits here are enough to get you past slow spots and a few D.O.A. duds, and you come out of Bad Trip with a serious appreciation for this trio’s chops and ability to go with the flow. (Four, actually: Conlin can more than hold her own when she needs to.) And unlike the Jackass crew’s how-low-can-you-go competitions and Borat ‘s politicized exposés, there’s almost a sweetness to the way these folks prank the public. The everyday folks who find themselves having to deal with angry ex-cons or exchanges spiraling out of control aren’t marks; they’re more like collaborators in the movie’s “what if” set-ups. For every encounter in which you fear that André or Howery or Haddish are actually going to get the snot beat of out of them for antagonizing folks, there are a half dozen examples of people stepping in and defusing things, offering help, trying to de-escalate a blow-up. The end credits roll feature a bunch of “smile, you’re on Candid Camera” reveals that lead to smiles and yelps of “oh my god, that was crazy!” The joke’s not on them. They were just a key part of the trip.

7 Iconic “Breaking Bad” Filming Locations You Have to Visit B*T⊂H!

bad trip film location

Albuquerque is the home to most of the iconic “Breaking Bad” filming locations. Also, it’s one of the biggest cities on Route 66 and warrants a few days of exploration. In addition to all the Route 66 attractions, many folks enjoy driving around the city and visiting as many “Breaking Bad” filming locations as possible.

Self-Guided “Breaking Bad” Tour

It’s been so long since filming wrapped up, so sadly most sites look very different. Gus’ industrial laundromat that housed the underground superlab felt the most recognizable. Nevertheless, it’s still exciting to see familiar places, imagine the filming taking place, and look for memorabilia left by the crew and fans.

Here are the seven iconic “Breaking Bad” filming locations you have to visit b*t⊂h!

  • Walter White’s House
  • Gustavo Fring’s Laundry Business & Meth Lab
  • Los Pollos Hermanos (Gustavo Fring’s Chicken Restaurant)
  • Saul Goodman’s Office
  • A1A Car Wash
  • To’hajiilee (Navajo Reservation)
  • Walter White’s Gravestone

1. Walter White’s House

If you only have time to visit one location, make it Walter White’s house. Honestly, the most exciting part of our “Breaking Bad” tour took place in front of Walt’s house, located in Albuquerque’s Loma del Rey neighborhood. Owner Frances Padilla had no idea what she was getting herself into by agreeing to let film crews use the exterior of her home for filming. Moreover, Frances has lived in the home for over 40 years.

bad trip film location

Fans would come by and throw pizzas on her roof and steal landscaping rocks for souvenirs until the fence was put up. Most days, visitors will find her sitting outside on the chair in her garage (pictured here) where she harasses anyone who drives near her home. For this reason, some say her goal is to ruin fan photos taken of the famous house.

The exchanges have gotten so bad that folks leave humorous/ disgusted reviews online which are very funny/amusing to read. Interestingly enough, her husband is rumored to “sometimes” be a pure delight when sharing “Breaking Bad” stories and interacting with fans.

Reports indicate the older couple will NEVER sell the property. In the past, fans could see photos of the lady scowling at passing cars on Google Maps captures. Therefore, it makes you wonder if she simply lives to give any fan or passerby a hard time.

Update 2024: Unfortunately, the house is now blurred out on Google Maps and reviews have been turned off.

2. Gustavo Fring’s Laundry Business & Meth Lab

Owned by Gustavo Fring in the series, Lavandería Brillante is half industrial laundromat half meth lab. This is one of the few locations that look exactly like it did in the TV show. As a result, it’s easy to imagine Walt and Jesse strolling in to go to “work.”

3. Los Pollos Hermanos (Gustavo Fring’s Chicken Restaurant)

Twisters, which proclaims to have the best breakfast burrito & hamburger in Albuquerque was replaced by the fictional Los Pollos Hermanos restaurant in “Breaking Bad.” This was the site of Gus’ restaurant and office. Also, you may go inside and sit in Walt’s booth and check out the memorabilia left by the fans and crew.

4. Saul Goodman’s Office

The Offices of Saul Goodman & Associates was where Saul Goodman, Attorney at Law, conducted most of his business. It is located in a strip mall in Albuquerque. Due to some renovations done on the exterior, the office doesn’t look very similar to the one in the show. However, it’s still fun to imagine Walt, Jesse, Saul, and Huell running around the parking lot.

5. A1A Car Wash

Don’t forget to “Have an A1 day.” This was the phrase that Walter and Skyler created after purchasing the car wash. A1A Car At the time of filming, A1A’s real-life business name was “Octopus Car Wash.” It was one of the six Octopus brand locations scattered around Albuquerque. However, a few years ago it was purchased by Mister Car Wash. Visitors enjoy getting their car washed and taking a look at the memorabilia while they wait.

6. To’hajiilee (Navajo Reservation)

Season 5, Episode 13 was named To’hajiilee, which refers to the Cañoncito Band of Navajos that are found in the western parts of Bernalillo, eastern Cibola, and southwestern Sandoval counties in the U.S. state of New Mexico, west of the city of Albuquerque. It is a Navajo phrase roughly translated into English as “Dipping Water”.

The “To’hajiilee” episode is perhaps the most important place in Breaking Bad‘s mythicism. It’s where Todd, Jack, and the rest of the white power Nazis get into a shootout with Hank and Gomez. Also, it’s where Walt hid his money from the world. Finally, and most importantly, it’s where Jesse and Walt first cooked together.

7. Walter White’s Gravestone

The Walter White gravestone also has another crazy story behind it. As a fundraiser, local fans organized a mock funeral, mourning procession, and headstone placement at the city’s Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery . The headstone stayed at the cemetery until relatives of the deceased complained and the headstone had to be removed. As a result, it sits on a wall near one of the organizer’s steakhouse restaurants.

A mock funeral for the fictional meth-cooking star of “Breaking Bad,” Walter White, aka “Heisenberg” (played by actor Bryan Cranston) was held on October 19, 2013, shortly after the conclusion of the show. When the mourning procession placed a headstone at Albuquerque’s Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, however, the relatives of the actual dead buried in the cemetery started to complain. Afterward, the grave was relocated to a strip mall where one of the fan funeral organizers owns a steakhouse.

The headstone avoids any direct mentions of Heisenberg’s criminal activities, only describing him as a “Beloved Husband, Father, Teacher, and Entrepreneur.” Another reference is found in the epitaph, which quotes from Percy Shelley’s poem Ozymandias , the title and theme of the AMC series’ antepenultimate episode.

The grave is located outside Vernon’s Hidden Valley Steakhouse in the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque about 7 miles from downtown Albuquerque. 6855 4th St NW, Albuquerque

Bonus – Walter White’s “New Hampshire” Cabin

In season 5, Ed, from Best Quality Vacuum, drives Walt in a propane truck to a remote New Hampshire cabin. However, the location is all Hollywood smoke and mirrors. Viewers who carefully watch the show may notice a snow-covered cactus tree in the outdoor shots. That’s because the cabin and bar/restaurant scenes were filmed in New Mexico!

bad trip film location

Under the pseudonym Mr. Lambert, Walt kills several months in a backwoods cabin waiting for the nationwide manhunt to end. Moreover, on the show, the cabin is situated on two acres of property and the closest town is about 8 miles away.

bad trip film location

In reality, the filming location for the cabin and New Hampshire snow scenes was filmed in the Sandia Mountains , a few miles outside Albuquerque. They were filmed near the peak, above 10,000 feet. Funny enough, the cabin is located only about 1 mile from the Sandia Peak Ski Area.

The cabin was only used for exterior shots and quickly dismantled after shooting. Below is the location of the cabin.

Sandia Peak, New Mexico, GPS: 35.211379°, -106.443491°

There’s little doubt that even after all the years, Albuquerque is still Breaking Bad’s town. Also, everywhere you go, there’s some object or memorabilia that relates to the show.

Ironically, Albuquerque wasn’t chosen as the original filming location, it was originally supposed to be filmed in Riverside, California. Nevertheless, it’s hard to think of it being filmed anywhere else. Use the map below to visit every “Breaking Bad” filming location!

Tread lightly to these Breaking Bad filming locations

Unstable. Volatile. Dangerous. And, that's just the chemistry.

What better way for fans to reminisce about Walter White’s journey from Mr. Chips to Scarface than to follow in the footsteps of Heisenberg on this Breaking Bad road trip. Here's our guide to iconic Breaking Bad filming locations—just remember to tread lightly.

Photo of Hooligan's Tavern

9800 Montgomery Blvd, Albuquerque, NM, US

Hooligan's Tavern

Because no Breaking Bad pilgrimage would be complete without a nod to Saul Goodman, we made sure to include a location, Hooligan's Tavern, where you can grab a beer and pay homage to the sleaziest lawyer in the Southwest. This was where the exterior of Saul's office was shot.

Photo of Walter White's House

Albuquerque, NM, US

Walter White's House

The house that doubled as the White residence is private property so please be mindful of the owners and observe respectfully (and at a safe distance) from the road. And don't even think about throwing a pizza onto the roof (it's already been done).

Photo of Octopus Car Wash

9516 Snow Heights Cir NE, Albuquerque, NM, US

Octopus Car Wash

While Walt and Skyler might have been using their A1A Car Wash to clean dirty cash, the real life counterpart, Octopus Car Wash, focuses primarily on cars. You can pull in for a wash, or just snap some photos, as it’s open to the general public.

Photo of Delta Linen Supply

1617 Candelaria street, Albuquerque, NM, US

Delta Linen Supply

There might not be a superlab located deep in the basement of this laundry facility, but you can still visit the location that set the stage for many tense moments between Heisenberg and Fring in Season 4's "Delta Linen Supply."

Photo of Pinkman Residence

322 16th street, Albuquerque, NM, US

Pinkman Residence

Hydrofluoric acid, a dissolving body in the bathtub, and a heap of fleshy bits all over the hallway: Welcome to Jesse Pinkman’s home.

The location for Pinkman’s fictional home changed sometime during production of the second season when the original homeowners sold the property, but if you pop over to 16th street, you can see both in one easy trip.

Photo of Java Joe’s

906 Park Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM, US

Tuco's headquarter's is distinctive-looking. In real life, it's a local coffee shop called Java Joe's, which serves up great breakfast food, baked goods, and live music to go with the coffee.

Crossroads Motel

Click to discover a great deal!

Nicknamed “The Crystal Palace,” the Crossroads Motel was featured prominently in a musical montage that had everyone humming “Everyone Knows it’s Windy” at work the next day. Though the “Palace” stopped making appearances in later seasons, it’s still an iconic part of Breaking Bad ’s imagery.

Photo of Ace Metals

5711 Broadway Boulevard Southeast, Albuquerque, NM, US

There were a handful of separate locations used to make up Joe’s Salvage throughout the series, but only one bore witness to the end of Walt's RV: Ace Metals. This location is still an operational metal recycling facility.

Photo of Twisters Restaurant

4257 Isleta Boulevard Southwest, Albuquerque, NM, US

Twisters Restaurant

The manager of local burrito joint Twisters counts between 30 to 40 fans a day who pull up in cars and cabs, sometimes straight from the airport, all of them curious to meet the real-life Gus Fring.

The popularity of Breaking Bad has been great for business, as interest in the restaurant has brought in extra customers and profit. Fans are excited to sit in the most coveted seat in the place: “Walt’s Booth." When you visit, be sure to have someone snap your picture next to the huge Los Pollos Hermanos mural.

Photo of To'hajiilee Indian Reservation

To'hajiilee Indian Reservation

To’hajiilee Reservation is the perfect starting and ending point for a Breaking Bad road trip. It was the first place Walt and Jesse parked the rolling meth lab, and it was prominently featured at the climax of the series.

Formerly known as the Canoncito Reservation, To’hajiilee is a section of the Navajo Nation between three of New Mexico’s southwestern counties. The dry, rocky terrain has a unique beauty.

Though production of the series has long been complete, the effect of Breaking Bad 's success on Albuquerque is obvious everywhere you look. Packets of crystal-blue rock sugar, bakeries selling blue meth donuts, and a beauty salon offering a “Bathing Bad” line of bath salts are just a few of the local Heisenberg-themed attractions you can find.

For a place that was mostly known for its annual Balloon Fiesta, the dark and violent nature of the series hasn’t stopped Albuquerque, or its residents, from embracing all the attention Breaking Bad has brought to the city whole-heartedly.

'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' Ending Explained: What You Gonna Do When They Come for You?

Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die'.

The Big Picture

  • Captain Howard is framed, leading Mike and Marcus to uncover a corruption ring within the Miami PD.
  • McGrath, aided by corrupt officials, puts a bounty on the Bad Boys' heads, forcing them to fight back.
  • The Bad Boys clear their names, defeat McGrath, and maintain their bond, setting the stage for future adventures.

The "Bad Boys" of the Miami Police Department, Mike Lowrey ( Will Smith ) and Marcus Burnett ( Martin Lawrence ), are back for another big-screen, action-packed adventure in Bad Boys: Ride or Die . This time, Mike and Marcus are in for the fight of their lives, as they are framed for a crime they didn't commit , and now the duo is on the run from the law. Matched up against a formidable drug cartel boss, Mike and Marcus are faced with grave choices, while also proving the meaning of the phrase, "ride or die." But how does the film end? It’s time to unpack the ending of Bad Boys: Ride or Die .

Bad Boys: Ride or Die

Captain howard gets framed by an elaborate corruption ring.

In Bad Boys: Ride or Die , Mike and Marcus' old superior officer, Captain Conrad Howard ( Joe Pantoliano ), is wrongly framed for corruption by a drug cartel. Captain Howard was very close to uncovering an elaborate corruption ring in the Miami PD that involved the cartel. Mike's long-lost son, Armando Aretas ( Jacob Scipio ) , executed Howard in the previous movie, Bad Boys for Life , for getting too close to the truth. Before Captain Howard died, he set up fail-safes in his old computer files, which later sent pre-recorded video messages about his investigation to Mike and Marcus, warning them not to trust anyone. It's now up to Marcus and Mike to clear their late friend's name.

Unfortunately, one of the cartel's ranking members, a former special ops soldier named McGrath ( Eric Dane ), is one step ahead of Mike and Marcus. When the duo attempts to transport Armando Aretas from prison to Miami to help with their investigation, McGrath and his minions hijack the transport chopper, making it look like Mike and Marcus murdered the pilot to free Aretas. While they survive the chopper crush, the trio goes on the run, now fugitives from the law , and McGrath puts a lucrative bounty on their heads to get the criminal underworld gunning for them.

Mike and Marcus Identify McGrath

After managing to return to Miami in one piece, Mike and Marcus reconvene with AMMO officers Dorn ( Alexander Ludwig ) and Kelly ( Vanessa Hudgens ), who are now dating. Using some of the old hidden files of Captain Howard and help from Armando, they manage to identify McGrath as the culprit behind the conspiracy . McGrath received help from Miami District Attorney Lockwood ( Ioan Gruffudd ), who was working with McGrath and the cartel. Lockwood indicates their work together was part of the government's efforts to gain intel from the drug cartels on terrorist threats to the United States. In exchange, drug cartels were allowed free thrift to operate across the country.

McGrath sends operatives to the homes of Mike and Marcus, attempting to threaten their loved ones. Thankfully, the quick action of Marcus' son-in-law, Reggie McDonald ( Dennis Greene ), protects Marcus' family in the film's most applause-worthy action scene . Unfortunately, McGrath's operatives manage to take Mike's new wife, Christine ( Melanie Liburd ), and Callie Howard ( Quinn Hemphill ), the granddaughter of Captain Howard, hostage. After the Bad Boys reveal details to Captain Rita Secada (Paola Núñez) about her boyfriend Lockwood's corruption, she takes him into custody, bringing him to the Bad Boys and AMMO teams. Together, they discover McGrath's hideout in an abandoned Florida marine park and devise a plan to save Christian and Callie and expose McGrath.

The Bad Boys Seek to Bring Down McGrath

Using a faked voice call from Lockwood, the team attempts to help Christine and Callie escape under the guise of relocating them to Cuba. Unfortunately, McGrath sniffs out their plan before the hostages can be moved to the getaway plane, which leads to an intense shootout with the Bad Boys and McGrath's men in the marine park. Thanks to help from Marcus, Mike overcomes the panic attacks he has been suffering throughout the film , springing back into action. Armando fights and risks his life to protect Callie, redeeming himself for his role in assassinating her grandfather.

Amid the chaos, Lockwood shoots Dorn and attempts to escape. Rita stops Lockwood and kicks him into the lower tanks beneath the park, where he's eaten by a giant albino alligator named Duke. McGrath grabs Christine and takes her to the beach, which is eerily similar to a vision Marcus had near the start of the film when he had a heart attack at Mike's wedding. As Marcus recognizes the location, McGrath gets the drop on him, holding him at gunpoint as Mike arrives at their location. McGrath forces Mike to choose between his wife Christine and his brother-in-arms , Marcus. Mike shoots Marcus, who is protected by his bulletproof vest, giving Mike an opening he needs to gun down and eliminate McGrath for good.

US Marshall Judy Howard ( Rhea Seehorn ), Callie's mother, arrives on the scene wanting to finally take revenge on Armando for his role in murdering her father. Callie steps in front of Armando, not wanting Judy to kill the man who saved her life. A reluctant Judy ultimately stands down and allows Mike to help Armando escape the scene. Mike helps Armando get to a small boat, instructing him how to get to Cuba to avoid incarceration. Father and son share a heartwarming moment , respectfully bumping fists before they depart.

The Bad Boys Are Still for Life

With the day saved, Mike and Marcus are exonerated from the frame job, and Captain Howard's reputation is restored after the pair expose Lockwood and McGrath's activities. The film ends with the Lowrey and Burnett families getting together for a barbecue. While Mike and Marcus bicker over who is going to man the grill, Reggie intervenes, wanting to take over the grill. After witnessing firsthand that Reggie is no longer a little kid they can boss around like in the old days, they ultimately stand down and let Reggie take over the grilling duties. Reggie grins, finally getting one over on his old tormentors , realizing the shoe is now on the other foot. The movie ends things on a light, humorous note, keeping in tune with the previous installments. It also looks like the door is left open for future installments, with the team that was established in the previous movie largely intact. The good news is that Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery live to ride or die together once again.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a fun, comedic, action-packed thrill ride that longtime fans of the franchise should enjoy. Directing duo Adil & Bilall ( Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah ) continue creating impressive, kinetic action scenes with astonishing visual panache. Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett might be getting a little older, but they haven't lost their great rapport.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is now playing in theaters.
