Want a flavour of what to expect? Watch this .

For adventurers who:

Are active endurance hikers, keen to undertake an epic hiking challenge for the ultimate bragging rights. Expect to be out walking for 8 to 10 hours each day.

Perfect for solo travellers, couples and friends. 18+ only.

Arrive at your accommodation in Betws-y-Coed between 16:00 and 17:00 for check in.

You’ll be staying in a quality hotel with comfortable bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. It’s a traditional Victorian property dating back to the 1800s, situated in the centre of the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed.

This evening you’ll enjoy a welcome meal in the hotel restaurant. Get to know your guides and fellow walkers over a meal, a pint and a route map of the iconic Welsh 3000s.

Once you’re fueled up for a tough day of hiking with breakfast, we’ll drive you to your starting point. Your epic hiking experience will begin near the northerly point of Snowdonia.

Head straight up into the Carneddau (“the cairns”) mountain range. A large plateau covering 10% of the area of Snowdonia, the Carneddau features six of your Welsh peaks. Pick them off one by one, beginning with Foel Fras at 942, taking in the third highest peak in Snowdonia, Carnedd Llewelyn at 1,064m, and finishing your big day on Pen Yr Ole Wen at 978m.

From here you’ll be taken back to your accommodation for a well-earned rest.

Betws-y-Coed offers a number of bars, restaurants and cafes within walking distance of your accomodation.

After a good night’s rest, get your walking boots on for the second day of your Snowdonia hiking adventure.

You’ll pick up where you left off yesterday, starting with Tryfan. At 915m it’s the lowest of the 14 peaks, but what it’s lacking in height it makes up for in ruggedness. It’s a sign of what’s to come today, with the Glyderau being a range of big slabby peaks. A real contrast to yesterday.

You’ll conquer five more challenging peaks today. Pause for the classic photo on Glyder Fach’s famous cantilever stone, before concluding day two by summitting Ellidir Fawr and descending to Nant Peris. From here we’ll take you back to your hotel.

Kick your boots off, fill your stomach and sleep well.

We saved the biggest til last! The Snowdon Massif is home to Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales at 1,085m high.

It’s also the busiest peak in the national park, with around 500,000 visitors each year. Which is why we saved the biggest til Monday. So while everyone else is at work, you can enjoy this monolith of a mountain.

Make sure you’ve brought your head for heights. Today you’ll warm up with a grade 1 scramble up Crib Goch, followed by a knife-edge traverse. Completing this is a badge of honour in itself.

Next on your bucket list is Crib Y Ddysgyl, the second highest peak in Snowdonia at 1,065m. And finally, ascend Snowdon itself.

Take it easy at last, as you enjoy the walk down. And get ready to celebrate your achievement with a well-earned beer or two in the local pub.

Enjoy your final breakfast in your Welsh mountain home before packing your bags ready for check out.

After an incredible three days conquering Snowdonia’s 14 Peaks together, it’ll be (socially distanced) bear hugs all round with your new hiking buddies.

Our Guide was amazing and consulted us constantly on which routes we were planning to take. He was also super knowledgeable about the area and the local fauna and flora. All the logistics were taken care of which is great if you don’t have the time to organise things yourself. We were given all the relevant information beforehand. Our accommodation was central and very comfortable.

The weather in Snowdonia can be quite cool and unpredicable at any time of year, so you should always be prepared with the right gear.  Autumn can be a great time to walk as the path will not have as many people walking on it as the summer months. Spring and early summer are best times to see the flora and fauna along the way.

Walking at high levels in Snowdonia National Park means the weather may be very unpredictable. Walking up Mount Snowdon in particular can be hazardous in bad weather and should not be undertaken lightly or at all. It will be very important for you to keep your eye on the forecast. You can visit the following website for more information, Mountain Forecast . If the weather is due to be awful on the day you are scheduled to walk up Snowdon we suggest switching the walk with the Padarn Circular.

From your final destination, Llanberis, take a bus to Bangor. This journey takes approximately 1H. From Bangor you can access Chester by train in about 1H20.

If you are going to book the Escape to Snowdonia tour, please be aware that it is challenging to confirm 1-night stays in Beddgelert on Friday and Saturday nights. Therefore if you have the flexibility it would be advised to try and secure your booking so that you avoid your start date being on Thursdays or Fridays.

Please be prepared by packing all necessary items, for example, proper rain gear (jacket and pants), sun hat, sunscreen etc. Your information pack has a detailed equipment list which includes standard walking gear such as good walk boots, warm and waterproof clothes for the cooler months and lightweight clothing for summer, and a daypack.

Trans-Siberian Railway: A Historic Passage Connecting Continents And Cultures

T ravelling by train is often associated with nostalgic childhood memories. While flights have become the preferred mode of transportation for their speed, train journeys still hold a unique charm. They offer not only affordability but also the opportunity to witness breathtaking landscapes through the window, accompanied by the company of loved ones or a good book. Trains not only connect cities and states but also countries, with some routes spanning vast distances and multiple time zones.

One such iconic train journey is the Trans-Siberian Railway, which holds the title of the longest railway line in the world. Stretching across a distance of 9,258 kilometres, this legendary route connects Moscow, Russia’s capital, to Vladivostok. Remarkably, it traverses seven time zones and passes through over 30 cities, showcasing the diverse landscapes of Siberia and the Russian Far East.

For travellers embarking on the Trans-Siberian adventure, there are various destinations and train options available, ranging from standard Russian trains to luxurious private coaches. Regardless of the choice, passengers are treated to awe-inspiring scenic views and unforgettable experiences. Some routes even extend beyond Russia, reaching destinations like Ulan Bator in Mongolia or Beijing in China. The trains operate year-round, with peak popularity during the summer months.

The history of the Trans-Siberian Railway is as fascinating as the journey itself. Construction began on May 31, 1891 and lasted for 25 years before the first passenger train commenced its journey from Moscow to Vladivostok in 1903, even before the entire railway was fully completed.

To go on this iconic journey, travellers can select from three main routes: Moscow-Vladivostok, Moscow-Ulan Bator and Moscow-Beijing. Travellers must obtain visas for their respective countries depending on the chosen destination. Tickets can be purchased from railway stations in Moscow or online, with fares varying depending on the season. For example, a third-class ticket from Moscow to Vladivostok may cost $175 (Rs 14,576), while a second-class ticket could be priced at $213 (Rs 17,742). The trains offer modern amenities such as air conditioning, dining facilities, comfortable berths, and entertainment options, ensuring a comfortable and memorable journey. Additionally, travellers have the option to book luxurious private cabins for added comfort and exclusivity.

The construction of this route began on May 31, 1891.

Russia sets date for U.S. reporter Evan Gershkovich’s closed espionage trial

The espionage trial in Russia of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich will begin on June 26 and will be held behind closed doors, a statement from the court that will hear the case said Monday.

Gershkovich, a U.S. citizen, has been behind bars since his March 2023 arrest and faces 20 years in prison if convicted.

The trial is to be held in the Sverdlovsk regional court in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s fourth-largest city, where he was arrested. Gershkovich has since been held in Moscow’s Lefortovo Prison, about 870 miles to the west.

U.S. reporter Evan Gershkovich, jailed in Russia on espionage charges, to stand trial

Russian officials say U.S. reporter Evan Gershkovich, jailed in Russia for over a year on espionage charges, will stand trial in the Ural Mountains city of Yekaterinburg.

June 13, 2024

The court said trial will be closed to the public, as is usual in espionage cases.

Gershkovich, 32, is accused of “gathering secret information” on orders from the CIA about Uralvagonzavod, a facility that produces and repairs military equipment, the prosecutor general’s office said last week in the first details of the accusations against him.

The reporter, his employer and the U.S. government have denied the allegations, and Washington designated him as wrongfully detained .

Russia’s Federal Security Service alleged that Gershkovich was acting on U.S. orders to collect state secrets but provided no evidence to back up the accusations.

“Evan has done nothing wrong. He should never have been arrested in the first place. Journalism is not a crime,” U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said last week. “The charges against him are false. And the Russian government knows that they’re false. He should be released immediately.”

Russia extends detention of U.S. reporter Evan Gershkovich on espionage charges

A Moscow court has ordered Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich to remain in jail on espionage charges until at least late June.

March 26, 2024

The Biden administration has sought to negotiate Gershkovich’s release, but Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Moscow would consider a prisoner swap only after a trial verdict.

Uralvagonzavod, a state tank and railroad car factory in the city of Nizhny Tagil, about 60 miles north of Yekaterinburg, became known in 2011-12 as a bedrock of support for President Vladimir Putin.

Plant foreman Igor Kholmanskikh appeared on Putin’s annual phone-in program in December 2011 and denounced mass protests occurring in Moscow at the time as a threat to “stability,” proposing that he and his colleagues travel to the Russian capital to help suppress the unrest. A week later, Putin appointed Kholmanskikh to be his envoy in the region.

Putin has said he believes a deal could be reached to free Gershkovich, hinting he would be open to swapping him for a Russian national imprisoned in Germany. That appeared to be Vadim Krasikov , who is serving a life sentence for the 2019 killing in Berlin of a Georgian citizen of Chechen descent.

Moscow court rejects Evan Gershkovich’s appeal, keeping him in jail until at least June 30

Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich will remain jailed on espionage charges until at least late June.

April 23, 2024

Asked by the Associated Press about Gershkovich, Putin said the U.S. is “taking energetic steps” to secure his release. He told international news agencies at an economic forum in St. Petersburg in early June that any such releases “aren’t decided via mass media” but through a “discreet, calm and professional approach.”

“And they certainly should be decided only on the basis of reciprocity,” he added, in an allusion to a potential prisoner swap.

Gershkovich was the first U.S. journalist taken into custody on espionage charges since Nicholas Daniloff in 1986 at the height of the Cold War. Gershkovich’s arrest shocked foreign journalists in Russia, even though the country had enacted increasingly repressive laws on freedom of speech after sending troops into Ukraine.

Alsu Kurmasheva, a reporter for U.S.-funded Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe with dual U.S.-Russian citizenship, has been jailed since October awaiting trial on charges of failing to register as a foreign agent while collecting information about the Russian military.

U.S. journalist marks a year in a Russian prison as courts keep extending his time behind bars

Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich marks a year behind bars Friday following his arrest by Russian authorities who accuse him of espionage.

March 28, 2024

The son of Soviet emigres who settled in New Jersey, Gershkovich is fluent in Russian and moved to the country in 2017 to work for the Moscow Times newspaper before being hired by the Journal in 2022.

U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy, who regularly visited Gershkovich in prison and attended his court hearings, has called the charges against him “fiction” and said that Russia is “using American citizens as pawns to achieve political ends.”

Separately, U.S. soldier Gordon Black is on trial in Vladivostok on charges of theft and threatening murder in a dispute with a Russian woman. Black, who was stationed in South Korea but visiting the Pacific Coast city, on Monday told a court that he denied the allegation of threatening murder but “partially” admitted to theft, according to the state news agency RIA-Novosti.
