Your engine coolant, also called antifreeze, helps your vehicle maintain an appropriate operating temperature by absorbing heat from your engine. Using the upper and lower radiator hoses, coolant is circulated throughout your car's engine and to the radiator where the hot coolant's temperature is reduced before it is returned to the engine. Antifreeze also helps prevent concentrations of water from causing corrosion and scale buildup inside the engine and keep your cooling system from freezing, which could cause extensive damage. Regularly checking and filling fluids is part of routine car maintenance , and not only does this help your vehicle perform better, but it also protects the engine from damage and corrosion. Your vehicle's owner's manual usually includes service intervals that indicate how often to flush and fill your car's coolant, and coolant levels and condition should be inspected at least at every oil change and before winter to ensure safe engine performance. If you notice a coolant leak, you should inspect your cooling system's components for signs of wear, cracks, damage, and attempt to locate the source of the leaks. It's a good idea to fix a cooling system leak as soon as possible to avoid damage to your engine that can include overheating, seizing, warped cylinder heads, or a blown head gasket . If your coolant levels are low or if your cooling system isn't working as it should, you may notice your temperature gauge reading higher than usual, your heater may stop working, or you might notice steam coming from under your hood. When you need coolant, or if you need radiator hoses, clamps, or the right tools for the job, shop O'Reilly Auto Parts. We carry the right coolant for nearly any vehicle, and also offer helpful How-To topics on cooling system maintenance , how to flush and refill your car's coolant , and much more to get the job done right.

What is the cooling system?

A vehicle uses coolant to keep the engine from overheating. It flows through passages in the engine and disperses the heat. This keeps the temperature of the engine in a specific range.

There are many parts of the cooling system, including the radiator and thermostat, that have coolant flowing through it.

What is a coolant leak?

If a part of the cooling system becomes weak, coolant can leak out.

O-rings and gaskets are the most common issues with coolant leaks, but components of the cooling system can also become cracked and leak.

Why is my Dodge Journey leaking coolant?

Dodge Journey and the 3.6-liter engines have issues with leaks coming from the oil cooler/oil filter housing .

The oil cooler/oil filter housing is part of the cooling system and has coolant flowing through it.

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

The oil cooler/oil filter housing is designed to cool the engine oil to a certain temperature. It does this by dispersing heat throughout the oil cooler.

A common symptom of this leak is coolant running down the back of the engine onto the transmission.

Here is a link to the oil cooler/ oil filter housing. Before ordering, make sure it is the correct one for your Dodge Journey.

What can happen if I lose coolant?

Here is a list of things that can happen if you lose all of your coolant.

You will lose heat inside your vehicle

A “low coolant” message may pop-up

Your vehicle will overheat

Where is the oil cooler/oil filter housing located?

The oil cooler/oil filter housing is located in the “V” of the 3.6-liter engine. It is below the lower intake manifold.

Oil filter housing on a Dodge Journey

How do I stop my Dodge Journey from leaking coolant?

The only way to truly solve this coolant leak is to replace the oil cooler/oil filter housing .

Can you still drive with a coolant leak?

Driving with little to no coolant is bad for the engine.

The reason is that the coolant keeps the engine from overheating.

If an engine overheats, it can potentially be destroyed.

Check out this other article about an oil leak from the oil cooler/oil filter housing in the 3.6-liter engine.

Ok please help! I have a 2012 Journey SXT AWD. It started overheating today almost to the red after coolant was put in the reservoir. Parked to let cool down and then came home. When I got home and let car cool went down to check and there was no coolant in the reservoir. Added the rest of the coolant (1 gallon today), i saw it go into the reservoir and then was gone from it in about a minute. Checked under the car and do not see a leak. Please help! I am in nursing school and really need a car!

First thing to offer is some other places to check for possibly where the coolant went to find a possible cause of the overheating.

Check the engine oil, both on the dipstick AND on the fill cap. You are looking for brown "milkshake" residues and high (overfull) dipstick reading. Next look inside the coolant reservoir and see if there is red oil in it. These will determine if a major problem in the engine or transmission has happened.

You didn't state mileage of the vehicle, and so there are a number of reasons overheating can happen, from minor to major expenses, like a bad rad. cap or thermostat to engine oil cooler failure to blown head gasket or bad radiator. If you are not a DIY'er, Have it TOWED(by FLAT BED due to being an AWD vehicle) to a reputable repair shop for a good diagnosis  and proceed from there.    Good Luck.

Which engine do you have, 4 or 6 cylinder?

39 minutes ago, OhareFred said: Which engine do you have, 4 or 6 cylinder?

Re read the post title...3.6 AWD model.

@5rebel9  the reservoir is completely empty so no oil in there either. Checked the oil and it does not look like a milkshake. Does not look like there is a leak from under the car either. My husband put coolant in it yesterday when it started overheating and didnt know about the making sure that there was no air in there. I left it uncapped last night to help the air. I am nervous to add more coolant as we put 1 gallon in it yesterday and not even a minute after we put half gallon in it was in the reservoir and then gone.

is your dipstick showing way over the full mark? its either in the engine crankcase or leaking out somewhere, the engine is probally shot, sorry you have this problem

Good Luck, That doesn't seem good. There was a story of a person who just had air in their lines. I'd take it to a corner mechanic and have them pressure test the radiator.

Unrelated story: Mt ex-Gf's car: I had poured a  gallon of coolant into the radiator without any leaking out the bottom, and without the reservoir filling...I added another gallon... and another gallon... That seemed to keep the coolant level in the radiator full... problem solved? The car wouldn't crank. I checked the Dip, and it was frothing out the top. The dipstick filler neck was filled to the same level as the radiator fill cap with coolant with a small amount of oil mixed in. RIP, 1998 Chevy Malibu! - I figure one gallon when to the radiator, one gallon when to the cylinders, and the other gallon to top off the oil reservoir.

Like the above post's story...Check the engine oil level for overfull reading(coolant in the crankcase). IF OK then refill the res.and see if it drains away or leaks out somewhere. Take off the top motor "dress up" cover to look for leaks on top of the motor. Yes when overheated air doe get entrapped in the cooling system, let it set with cap off for at least 1/2 hr and recheck the res. level  and top off accordingly. You STILL need to find out WHY it overheated and fix that, as I posted of the many possibilities of parts/components that can cause overheating.   Good Luck!

Go straight to that damned oil cooler. I had this same problem, almost destroyed my engine. I believe the 2012 model doesn't have that plastic seal, but the plastic may have cracked or something like that.

That had to be some failure! Yes I hit the point in my response to check for leak at the oil cooler(which uses radiator coolant) to be checked. Thanks for the "back up" and pic of a possible failure point for the OP. Sorry to have read your thread and what you went thru.

3.6 pentastar cooling system issues thumbnail

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine has garnered widespread popularity across various vehicles, known for its impressive performance and reliability . However, like any other engine, the Pentastar V6 is not exempt from potential issues, particularly in its cooling system.

A properly functioning cooling system is crucial for maintaining optimal engine temperature and preventing overheating, which can lead to severe damage. Join us as we go over the main reasons of 3.6L Pentastar V6 cooling system failure, and how to fix it.

3.6 pentastar cooling system issues 1

Understanding the Cooling System

The cooling system in any vehicle plays a vital role in maintaining optimal engine temperature, ensuring efficient performance, and preventing damage. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine’s cooling system is no exception. Let’s take a closer look at its components and how they work together.

The radiator serves as the heat exchanger, dissipating the heat generated by the engine . It consists of a series of small tubes and fins that allow coolant to flow through and release heat into the surrounding air.

The water pump is responsible for circulating coolant throughout the engine and the radiator. It ensures that coolant flows consistently, promoting efficient heat transfer.

The thermostat acts as a valve that regulates the flow of coolant. It remains closed when the engine is cold, allowing it to warm up quickly. Once the engine reaches the optimal temperature, the thermostat opens, enabling the coolant to flow and maintain a stable temperature .

The cooling system utilizes various hoses to transport coolant between the engine, radiator, water pump, and other components. These hoses should be in good condition to prevent leaks and ensure proper coolant circulation.

Coolant, also known as antifreeze, is a mixture of water and additives that help regulate engine temperature. It absorbs heat from the engine and transfers it to the radiator for dissipation. Coolant also contains rust inhibitors and lubricants to protect the cooling system from corrosion and reduce friction.

Common 3.6L Pentastar V6 Cooling System Issues

The Dodge/Chrysler 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, like any other engine, can experience cooling system issues that require attention. Here are some of the common problems that owners may encounter:

  • Overheating — One of the primary concerns is engine overheating. This can be caused by various factors, such as coolant leaks, a malfunctioning thermostat, a failing water pump , or a blocked radiator. When the engine overheats, it can lead to significant damage and potential engine failure if not addressed promptly.
  • Coolant Leaks — Coolant leaks can occur due to deteriorated hoses, a damaged radiator, a faulty water pump, or loose connections. Leaks not only result in a loss of coolant but can also lead to inadequate cooling system performance and overheating.
  • Radiator Problems — Issues with the radiator, such as damage from debris or road contaminants, can impede proper heat dissipation. Clogging due to sediment buildup or a damaged radiator fan can also affect cooling efficiency.
  • Hoses and Belts — The cooling system relies on hoses and belts to transport coolant between components. Over time, hoses can deteriorate, develop cracks, or become loose, leading to leaks or restricted coolant flow. Worn-out or damaged belts may affect the functioning of the water pump, impeding coolant circulation.

Identifying these common cooling system issues is crucial for timely intervention and prevention of further damage. In the next section, we will explore the symptoms and warning signs that can help vehicle owners detect cooling system issues in their 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine.

What Causes These Issues?

Sand. When FCA first designed these engines, they’ve used a sand casting method to fabricate various parts of the engine. As it turns out, some of that sand was never removed before assembly , and was stuck in coolant passages in the head/block.

Over time, this sand would dislodge and move around the cooling system, causing sludging issues as well as other problems. This is why frequent coolant flushes are a must for any Dodge, Jeep or Chrysler vehicle with this engine.

Symptoms and Warning Signs

Detecting cooling system issues in the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine early on is vital to prevent further damage. Here are some symptoms and warning signs that may indicate cooling system problems:

Engine Overheating — If you notice the temperature gauge consistently reaching high levels or the engine’s temperature warning light illuminating, it indicates possible cooling system issues.

Coolant Odor or Leaks — A sweet smell of coolant inside or outside the vehicle, along with visible coolant leaks beneath the engine or radiator, suggests a problem that needs attention.

Fluctuating Temperature Gauge — If the temperature gauge shows irregular fluctuations, with sudden rises and falls, it could indicate a malfunctioning thermostat or cooling system irregularities.

Dashboard Warning Lights — Pay attention to any dashboard warning lights related to the engine or cooling system, such as the coolant temperature warning light. These lights serve as important indicators of potential issues.

Steam or Smoke — If you observe steam or smoke rising from the engine compartment, it may signify an overheating engine and the need to address cooling system problems promptly.

Unusual Engine Behavior — Any unusual engine behavior, such as rough idling, loss of power, or an increase in engine noise, could be attributed to cooling system issues affecting overall engine performance.

Low Coolant Level — Regularly check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir . A significant decrease in coolant level without any apparent leaks may suggest a cooling system problem.

It’s essential to be proactive and address these symptoms and warning signs promptly. Ignoring them could lead to more severe engine damage and costly repairs. In the next section, we will explore troubleshooting steps and maintenance practices to mitigate cooling system issues in the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

3.6 pentastar cooling system issues 2

When encountering cooling system issues with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, it’s crucial to troubleshoot the problem effectively and perform regular maintenance to prevent future issues. Here are some steps you can take:

Coolant Inspection — Check the coolant level and condition regularly. If the level is low, inspect for leaks and address them promptly. Ensure that the coolant is clean and free of debris.

Thermostat Testing — A malfunctioning thermostat can lead to overheating issues. Consider testing or replacing the thermostat if you suspect it’s not functioning correctly. We suggest using an OE Mopar or FCA part when replacing the thermostat.

Radiator Inspection — Examine the radiator for damage, leaks, or clogs caused by debris. Clean the radiator fins and ensure proper airflow. If necessary, have a professional pressure test the radiator for any internal leaks.

Hose and Belt Examination — Inspect the hoses and belts for signs of wear, cracks, or leaks. Replace any damaged components and ensure proper connections and tension.

Water Pump Evaluation — Check the water pump for leaks or abnormal noises. If there are signs of damage or malfunction, consider replacing the water pump.

Flushing the Cooling System — Regularly flush the cooling system to remove accumulated debris, rust, or contaminants. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the appropriate coolant flush interval.

Regular maintenance and addressing cooling system issues promptly can help maintain the performance and longevity of the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine. In the next section, we will discuss preventive measures to minimize the occurrence of cooling system problems in your vehicle.

Preventive Measures

Preventing cooling system issues in the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine is key to ensuring its long-term performance and reliability. Here are some preventive measures to consider:

Follow Maintenance Schedule — Adhere to the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule for coolant replacement, system inspections, and overall engine maintenance. Regular servicing can help identify and address potential cooling system issues before they become major problems.

Maintain Proper Coolant Levels — Monitor the engine coolant level regularly and ensure it’s within the recommended range. Top up coolant as needed with the appropriate type and mixture specified by the manufacturer.

Inspect Hoses and Belts — Regularly inspect the cooling system hoses and belts for signs of wear, leaks, or cracks. Replace any damaged components promptly to maintain proper coolant circulation.

Use High-Quality Coolant — Choose high-quality coolant that meets the specifications outlined in the owner’s manual. The correct coolant mixture can help prevent corrosion, enhance heat transfer, and extend the life of the cooling system components.

Avoid Extreme Driving Conditions — Minimize subjecting your vehicle to extreme driving conditions, such as prolonged idling, heavy towing, or driving in extreme heat. These conditions put additional stress on the cooling system and can increase the risk of overheating.

Monitor Temperature Gauge and Warning Lights — Pay attention to the temperature gauge and any warning lights related to the cooling system. If you notice any unusual readings or warning indicators, take immediate action to prevent potential damage.

Maintain Clean Radiator and Cooling Fins — Keep the radiator and cooling fins clean from debris, bugs, and dirt. Regularly inspect and clean these components to ensure efficient heat dissipation.

coolant

Learn how to flush the coolant (antifreeze) in your 2011 Dodge Journey. Coolant / antifreeze circulates through Journey radiator and engine to maintain the proper temperature. Coolant / antifreeze also passes through the heater core under your cowl to provide heat to the cabin of your Journey. In addition to preventing your car from overheating, coolant / antifreeze also helps lubricate the seals in the water pump and hoses. Start your coolant flush by draining the coolant / antifreeze that is in your reservoir, then drain the coolant that is in your radiator by opening the petcock or removing the lower radiator hose. This video shows where the radiator drain plug (petcock) is located on a 2011 Dodge Journey. Fill up the radiator with distilled water and run the engine. Turn off the engine and drain the water, fill up the radiator with antifreeze until you have a 50/50 coolant / distilled water mixture and burp the system.

Like the oil in your Journey, coolant gets dirty over time and loses its ability to cool down your 3.6 liter engine. When you flush your coolant, which is antifreeze, on your 2011, you are draining out all of the old dirty coolant and preventing costly radiator and cooling system repair down the road. The video above shows you where the petcock on your radiator is located, how to flush the coolant / antifreeze and how to burp the system to get the air out of your Journey.

Coolant is toxic and animals are attracted to the sweet taste of coolant (antifreeze). If you spill coolant when you flush your Journey, be sure to put down cat litter to soak it up to discard it. Flushing the coolant on a regular basis removes gunk and mineral deposits from your engine, while prolonging the life of your heater core, thermostat, hoses and water pump.

2012 3.6L Operating Temperature

  • Add to quote

I am wondering what’s everyone’s operating temperature on a 2012 Charger with the 3.6L? I replaced my hoses, thermostat and flushed the system and mine is running around 222-226F after an hour drive at 70-75mph at 55 degrees outside. My oil temp stayed at 203-204. I have never watched my EVIC while driving so I have no idea what mine normally runs. But my needle is in the same place as before. Kind of seems a little high at 55 degrees outside. Worried what it will get to when Texas gets in the 100’s this summer.

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

That seems a bit high for highway cruising (mine runs 200-205 on the highway) your cooling fans may be inoperative.

Only have one large fan and its running with and without the AC on when that high. I used Zerex G05 HOAT antifreeze instead of Mopar. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

The G05 is fine for a 2011-2012 (changed to OAT in 2013).You probably have an air pocket in it then... crack open the screw on top of the thermostat housing when it is running and see if any air comes out.

krautmaster said: You probably have an air pocket in it then... crack open the screw on top of the thermostat housing when it is running and see if any air comes out. Click to expand...

Well on my hour drive home it ran 226-228 degrees with 80 degree outside temp. I tested my antifreeze and it shows to be off the chart. Well over 265 degree boiling point. Pointer was pointing streight up. Could this be causeing it to be hotter? Wrong ratio.

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

Got home yesterday and left the car running. Cracked open the screw on the thermostat and let it run for about 15 seconds then shut it. Let car cool off and squeezed the hoses to make sure they were full. This morning, on my hour drive to work, it stayed at 217-219 at 55 degree outside temp. Once it got to 221 and came back down to 219. When I got into downtown Houston traffic it stayed around 215. Making improvements but don't know it its fixed yet. May have to take it in to have an air evac done. Thanks for all the help.

You have done everything to get the air out, I would try a different thermostat first, as they are not all good right out of the box.

You don't have a problem.

Hope not but why do you say that? Is 215-219 where its supposed to run? Called several dealers in Houston and none of them could tell me what the temp should be.

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

Was it running at these same temps before you made the changes? Have you verified that your thermostat is woking properly even though it is new? Is the thermostat the right one for your car, what is the temp range listed in its product specs?

I really don't know the exact temp my car was running at before doing the work. Never drove with the EVIC on temp, just going by the needle. Not sure how to test to make sure the thermostat is working properly. Got the Gates thermostat from rockauto. It shows to be a 203 thermostat per the part number stamped on the plastic.

Well on the way home today it got up to 224-226. So stopped by parts store to get another thermostat. Replaced it and topped the tank off. Cranked it up and it got up to 219 with AC and heater off. Did notice that my fan did not turn on till 219 and turned off at 212. And that is where the temps stayed for 30 minutes. Does anyone know if the fan is working properly?

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

This is normal. My fan doesn't come on til around the 217-219 range.

Maybe the best way to troubleshoot this is with another way to verify the actual temps....Wonder if your gauge is reading correctly..? Wonder if one of those handheld infra red temp gauges , focused on the thermostat housing, and sensor area, radiator, would verify the temps actually being that high...! Low costs one are avail at HF, maybe loaned at auto stores......Obviously adding a mechanical temp gauge would be best...but not easy to do..

Think his concern is actual running temp..while in motion...219-225 deg does seem too high...hot summer not here yet...IMO

Yes I think 225-228 is too high when on open road at 75mph. But I am out of ideas now. When I dumped the coolant it was clean with nothing in it. Just wondering if air is trapped somwhere in the block. Hate to spend $170 at the dealer to have them vacuum the air out on a guess.

I'm no expert on "trapped" air...But sorta thought any air in the coolant system can be "Burped" out by simply opening any top portion after warmed up, , even a hose connection if need be, to release it..if for some reason the vent screw is doubtful... I would be more inclined to think you may have a partially clogged radiator...Dunno if you can get your hands on to feel the core [usually inaccessible] to feel if it's hot everywhere...if not hot, then clogged...maybe a gun thermometer.?

Just for comparison, when I drove home yesterday it was 84 degrees here in Dallas and my coolant temp was a steady 204-206 on the tollway.

I'm starting to think mine has a lower temp thermostat in it as on highway today 78 degrees I still ran 195 ish area. Only time I see 200s is when flogging or traffic.

Well decided to take the car to the dealer to get repaired. Had a couple of recalls so I figured let them deal with it. They had it all day, and I got a call a little before 5pm. They are still working on it and can't figure out why its running hot. I hope I'm not going to be charged all those hours for them scratching their heads. But I really hope this will be covered under the lifetime warrantee.

Hi rkersh409, Let us know how the appointment turns out. Our team is available via direct message and would be happy to assist in any way we can. Jasmine Dodge Social Care Specialist

Well just called dealer and they said its the cooling fan. Told her it was turning on at 119 and off at 112. She said thats what the tech said the problem was. Does this sound like my fan is the problem? Thanks Jasmine I may have to be contacting you next week.

I don't know that the fan has much to do with it when you are up on the highway at speed and air is flowing through the radiator on its own.

Well just went and picked up my Charger from the dealer. Tech said "cooling fan was not working properly". Said he found the relay socket was dirty and cleaned it. He said he took it for a test drive and it never got over 208 on him. So on my way home it would get to 208 and come back down to 203. Got home and turned off AC and heater and just let it idle like I did before. Never got over 210 in 15 minutes. My fan is now running at 210 instead of 219. Don't know if he just reprogrammed the computer or if the relay socket was really dirty. Still don't know how this would affect driving on the hiway. Will keep an eye on it on my way to work in the morning.

Amazing....fan needed at highway speeds to keep temps in range...? Is it possible you have a cowling piece damaged or missing around the radiator area ? Sorta makes me wonder if my fan is also on at highway sppeds...maybe I'll have to rig up a lil test lamp to the power lead, and monitor,..! BTW....did they charge ya for all the head scratching time they spent.?

No damage or missing pieces. Dont make since to me either because my AC is on most of the time. So the fan should be running anyway.

It wouldn't surprise me if the fan relay was merely an excuse...possibly the tech found some leaves, debris, etc stuck in the radiator fins...blew it out ,,,done !

Well on the way to work this morning it stayed between 204-208. When I stopped to get breakfast it went up to 219 and fell back to 210 and stayed. When I got to work I let it idle and it done the same thing 219 then down to 210 and stayed. Its better but dont think its 100%. Seems to be warming up faster then it use to in the mornings.

From your last post, could be you still have some sort of minor restriction of flow, prob in the block or head...that would account for the faster warmup...and erase the idea that fan was needed at Hwy speed to keep in cool...Summer temps in Tx may put you in a problem..I'd try a radiator shop..someone specializing in cooling...years ago, they could reverse flush , etc check flow..Crazy too, a water pump impeller that is badly worn can cause this...But I never saw one outlast the inevitable leak..Good Luck.

Back flushing is what you are talking about. It is less common today because of the smaller orifices that heater cores and radiators have compared to the copper radiator era. Today we use a chemical to dissolve the contaminants like what I had to do with the OAT coolant that my wife's Avenger had in it. You can ask for a low pressure back flush and see if any radiator/repair companies do this in your area. :smile2: Regards, Brian BND Automotive LLC:driving: 440-821-9040 www.bndautomotive.com Forum Vendor for 9 years!

Thanks, the water pump was replaced by the dealer about 2-3 years ago.

FWIW my 2018 Charger with the Pentastar runs about 208 while driving, but creeps up to 218 ish while idling. This is a brand new car with less than 1000 miles on it currently. It sure seems to mimic your after results from the dealer. I think your car is probably okay. Jeff

Your temps are fine. Stop stressing over this. They're built to run hot for emissions.

I think its fine for now after getting it back from the dealer. True test will come this summer when it gets up in the 100's here in Texas. But before the dealer it was getting to 228 on open hi-way at 75mph. That was a little high. Now its getting up to 208-212 on open hi-way at 75mph. And when I come to a stop will get to 219 then come back down to 210.

Guess you are now a believer that the "Fan" is needed in Chargers at hwy speeds.....I'm still unsure about that....Umm, wonder if I can easily unplug mine, test drive at hwy speed, and see if temp does run higher...? Need better weather here to try that...

Update: Dropped car back off at dealer Wed afternoon. Tech worked on it all day and gave me a call saying he cannot get it hot. Talked to the service manager and told him what it was doing. He asked if he could drive the car home to see if it would get hot on his drive home. Called Friday around 2pm and talked to manager. He said it never got over 209 for him and asked how often it gets hot. Told him every time I’m in the car. He said it might be the thermostat sticking. Told him I have changed it twice already. He asked why and told him because it has 175K miles. He asked if I used Mopar, said no. Then got the "well maybe Mopar would fix the problem". Said if its covered under warrantee get at it. Said no it would be $230. Told him not paying for it on a maybe. Then he told me to stop worrying about it since it’s under 3/4 mark on needle. Asked him what is the HOT temperature. He said 240-250 and the display would go from green to yellow to red. If it never changed colors there is not a problem.

Changing cooling fluid it's a bit tricky process but it can be done by yourself. The whole process will take 1 – 2 hours because you need to cool down the engine, and it will save you up to $150.

To replace coolant in 2017 Dodge Journey first you need to flush old fluid. Start with a cool engine. Drain the overflow reservoir first, then open the radiator cap, and open the radiator drain cock. After that check for cooling fluid drain plugs on the engine block. If your car have those unscrew them and drain coolant from the engine block. If you want to clean the system pour coolant cleaner and start the engine. Read the coolant cleaner manual and follow the product directions. Then flush coolant cleaner as you've flushed coolant before. The final step is to pour new coolant.

Gagarin cup (khl) finals:  atlant moscow oblast vs. salavat yulaev ufa.

Much like the Elitserien Finals, we have a bit of an offense vs. defense match-up in this league Final.  While Ufa let their star top line of Alexander Radulov, Patrick Thoresen and Igor Grigorenko loose on the KHL's Western Conference, Mytischi played a more conservative style, relying on veterans such as former NHLers Jan Bulis, Oleg Petrov, and Jaroslav Obsut.  Just reaching the Finals is a testament to Atlant's disciplined style of play, as they had to knock off much more high profile teams from Yaroslavl and St. Petersburg to do so.  But while they did finish 8th in the league in points, they haven't seen the likes of Ufa, who finished 2nd.

This series will be a challenge for the underdog, because unlike some of the other KHL teams, Ufa's top players are generally younger and in their prime.  Only Proshkin amongst regular blueliners is over 30, with the work being shared by Kirill Koltsov (28), Andrei Kuteikin (26), Miroslav Blatak (28), Maxim Kondratiev (28) and Dmitri Kalinin (30).  Oleg Tverdovsky hasn't played a lot in the playoffs to date.  Up front, while led by a fairly young top line (24-27), Ufa does have a lot of veterans in support roles:  Vyacheslav Kozlov , Viktor Kozlov , Vladimir Antipov, Sergei Zinovyev and Petr Schastlivy are all over 30.  In fact, the names of all their forwards are familiar to international and NHL fans:  Robert Nilsson , Alexander Svitov, Oleg Saprykin and Jakub Klepis round out the group, all former NHL players.

For Atlant, their veteran roster, with only one of their top six D under the age of 30 (and no top forwards under 30, either), this might be their one shot at a championship.  The team has never won either a Russian Superleague title or the Gagarin Cup, and for players like former NHLer Oleg Petrov, this is probably the last shot at the KHL's top prize.  The team got three extra days rest by winning their Conference Final in six games, and they probably needed to use it.  Atlant does have younger regulars on their roster, but they generally only play a few shifts per game, if that.

The low event style of game for Atlant probably suits them well, but I don't know how they can manage to keep up against Ufa's speed, skill, and depth.  There is no advantage to be seen in goal, with Erik Ersberg and Konstantin Barulin posting almost identical numbers, and even in terms of recent playoff experience Ufa has them beat.  Luckily for Atlant, Ufa isn't that far away from the Moscow region, so travel shouldn't play a major role.

I'm predicting that Ufa, winners of the last Superleague title back in 2008, will become the second team to win the Gagarin Cup, and will prevail in five games.  They have a seriously well built team that would honestly compete in the NHL.  They represent the potential of the league, while Atlant represents closer to the reality, as a team full of players who played themselves out of the NHL.

  • Atlant @ Ufa, Friday Apr 8 (3:00 PM CET/10:00 PM EST)
  • Atlant @ Ufa, Sunday Apr 10 (1:00 PM CET/8:00 AM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Tuesday Apr 12 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Thursday Apr 14 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)

Games 5-7 are as yet unscheduled, but every second day is the KHL standard, so expect Game 5 to be on Saturday, like an early start.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

2012 dodge journey 3.6 coolant capacity

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
