Is the Graco FastAction Fold stroller and car seat combo a good option for your family? Use our review to help you decide.

Graco FastAction Fold Travel System (Stroller and Car Seat), Affinia

The Graco FastAction Fold travel system is one of many options in Graco’s impressive line of stroller and car seat combos. It’s a classic 4-wheel stroller that comes with a SnugRide 30 LX infant car seat. Just for comparison, we rated the alternative SnugRide 35 as #2 on our list of top infant car seats.

This system has several good features that make it very popular among parents. For one, it’s affordable. Also, it’s simple to use, stylish, and has plenty of features to make any outing more comfortable.

Still, it might not be the best choice for every family. Let’s take a look at some of the details so you can decide if it’s right for you.

Key Features of the Graco FastAction Fold travel system

Graco FastAction Fold Features

  • Offered in 3 fashionable colors
  • 1-second, 1-hand fold
  • ClickConnect for easy car seat & stroller attachment
  • Multi-position recline
  • Locking front swivel wheels
  • Extra large storage basket
  • Parent tray with 2 cup holders and storage bin
  • Pivoting child’s tray with cup holder
  • Canopy with peekaboo window
  • Stroller converts from 5 to 3-point harness
  • Machine washable seat cushion (hang to dry)
  • System meets Disney size requirements

  • 1-year manufacturer’s warranty

What are the child size limits of the Graco FastAction Fold travel system?

Graco FastAction Fold Stroller and Car Seat

  • ClickConnect 30 infant car seat: 4 – 30 pounds and up to 32” in height
  • Stroller: For children up to 50 pounds.

Nowadays, 30 pounds isn’t considered a high maximum weight for a rear-facing car seat. Since the AAP recommends kids ride rear-facing until at least 2 years old and as long as possible past that, 30 pounds won’t allow for much extended rear-facing.

Some kids who are high on the growth chart have outgrown the height maximum of the seat before the weight. While the system as is will get you through most of the infant stage, you may want to plan on purchasing a convertible car seat with a high max weight sooner than later so it will be available when your child has that inevitable growth spurt. Note: Convertible car seats won’t fit on strollers.

This stroller is compatible with any Graco SnugRide ClickConnect infant car seat. So, one option is to purchase this system, along with a Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35. Then, you’ll have an extra seat that will also allow for longer rear-facing riding.

How big is the Graco FastAction Fold travel system & will it fit in your car?

  • Unfolded stroller dimensions: 27.5” L x 22” W x 41” H
  • Folded stroller dimensions: 28.5” L x 22.5” W x 18.5” H
  • Car seat dimensions: 26.7” L x 17.5 W x 14” H
  • Stroller weight: 21.3 pounds
  • Car seat weight (w/o base): 7 pounds
  • Car seat weight (w/ base): 10.76 pounds

With so many families venturing to Disney World or Disneyland, many may not realize that the park has a size requirement for strollers (no larger than 31” wide & 52” long). If you arrive with one that is too big, you will be forced to carry your child or rent a stroller from Guest Relations.

If you know you will be vacationing at Disney while your child is a baby or toddler, it would be wise to find a system that fits those size parameters. The Graco FastAction Fold would work well in that situation, while providing plenty of storage room for all your drinks, snacks, diaper bags, and souvenirs.

Many parents do love how lightweight this stroller is. At just over 21 pounds, it’s not difficult to lift in and out of the car for most people. It may be a bit bulky for the trunk in very small cars. It’s also too big for a carry on item when flying. You’ll have to check it.

The car seat fits in most vehicles but hasn’t been tested in all types of vehicles. We always recommend measuring your back seat dimensions and comparing them with the car seat first before buying.

Alternative model:

Graco FastAction SE

Graco FastAction SE

The Graco FastAction SE has a 25% smaller fold than the original to provide more compact storage for parents with smaller vehicles or closet space. It comes with the Graco SnugRide 30 LX infant car seat.

How safe is the Graco FastAction Fold travel system?

How safe is the FastAction Fold Stroller and Car Seat

This seat, like all Graco seats, are crash tested to meet or exceed all federal safety standards. The ClickConnect system provides easy fit into the base with an audible click. Be sure, however, to pull up on the seat to make sure it’s firmly attached, even when you hear the click.

The car seat body is surrounded by EPS energy absorbing foam for better side-impact protection. The base is LATCH equipped, but with the older hook attachments rather than the push-on connectors. They work fine, but can be a booger to uninstall in some cars with lower anchors that are deep within the seat crack.

We were happy to learn that at least two customers reported being in accidents with their children in this car seat, one as recent as June 2019, and both times, the children were just fine.

NOTE: As of now, there is only one old recall on this seat, for seats manufactured between July 2010 and May 2013 in which the harness buckle can become stuck. You shouldn’t have this old of a seat if buying new, but be sure to check for the manufacture date which should be printed on a sticker on the car seat itself. Graco will send replacement buckles if needed.

As for the stroller itself, the biggest gripe involved the wheels. You have to put them on with cotter pins during assembly, so you’ll need pliers. This could increase the chance of user errors, which could explain some of the wheel complaints.

Some customers felt the wheels were too flimsy. Others didn’t like the hardness of the wheels and felt it made the ride too bumpy for their babies. A few customers reported wheels falling off. Some said the stroller was difficult to push when their child passed 35 pounds. Other issues involved missing clips needed to attach the wheels or getting wheels of two different sizes.

How easy is the Graco FastAction Fold travel system to install and use?

One-second, one-hand FastAction fold

Overall, this system is your standard car seat and stroller. Straightforward, simple to use. The only hard part might be assembling the stroller, but if you have the right tools and patience, the directions are easy to follow.

Most parents had no issues unfolding and folding the stroller, though a few said it’s a lot easier to fold than unfold. The car seat was also simple to install and use for most parents. Some weren’t happy with the infant insert, however, saying it didn’t offer enough support.

Others wished there was a bubble level on the car seat rather than a line indicator to help with proper installation angle. Also the carrier handle isn’t padded and could get slick in the rain.

Parent tip: Practice unfolding and folding the stroller a few times, as well as attaching/unattaching the car seat, before you need to use it. Then you won’t be trying to figure it out with a fussy baby in tow.

A few taller parents wished the handle was height-adjustable, but most said it was a good height. Though the stroller does recline at several angles, it doesn’t lie completely flat like some strollers do, which may not be as comfortable for a sleeping toddler.

Some parents felt the storage basket was smaller than older versions of Graco strollers. Others commented that the car seat canopy is flimsy, doesn’t fit the car seat well, and makes too much noise when pulling it up. A few said when combined with the stroller canopy, the two didn’t close together very well.

Optional Accessories

Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30/35 LX Infant Car Seat Base

Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30/35 LX Infant Car Seat Base

It’s always a good idea to have an extra base on hand for Dad or Grandma. This one includes a level indicator to help with proper installation. Fits all SnugRide Click Connect car seats.

pros

  • Click Connect for easily attaching car seat to base and stroller
  • Comes in 3 color choices
  • Large storage basket
  • Pivoting child tray with cup holder
  • Parent tray with 2 cup holders
  • Machine washable covers
  • Meets Disney size requirements

cons

  • Car seat has relatively low max weight
  • Tall kids’ legs may drag in stroller
  • May be hard to push for kids over 35 pounds
  • Infant insert not well cushioned
  • No bubble level on car seat
  • No adjustable-height handle
  • Stroller doesn’t recline completely
  • Canopies won’t close together completely

BestCarSeatHub’s Final Verdict

Overall, this is a your standard travel system. It’s not perfect, but for the price, it will suit most families’ needs. The “fast action” part of it will be great for families always on the go or who change cars often, as well as the Click Connect feature.

To follow the AAP recommendation of rear-facing for as long as possible past 2 years old, just keep in mind that you’ll likely need to upgrade the car seat to something that lasts beyond 30 pounds.

BestCarSeatHub’s Final Verdict

We wouldn’t recommend the stroller for rough terrain or any off-road adventures since the wheels and suspension aren’t really built for that. For your everyday walks through the neighborhood, mall, or zoo, it should fit your needs.

Those with kids high on the growth chart or who have a bigger budget and want more options with premium finishes should probably look elsewhere.

Graco has since moved into producing other baby products, including car seats, strollers, high chairs, and baby swings, becoming one of the most loved and trusted baby product companies not only within America but also around the globe.

Will The Graco FastAction Fold Travel System Fit In Your Vehicle? The Specifications

When it comes to travel systems, one of the most important factors is size so parents can see if a travel system not only works with their lifestyle but will also fit in their vehicle. We understand how important it is and have provided the exact specifications of each component below:

Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 car seat:

  • Weight: 7.5 pounds (without base) & 10.76 pounds (with base)
  • Dimensions: 30.7” D, 18.7” W and 15.6” H.

Graco FastAction Fold stroller:

  • Weight: 22 pounds.
  • Folded dimensions: 28.5” L x 22.5” W x 18.5” H
  • Unfolded dimensions: 27.5” L x 22” W x 41” H

This stroller frame is relatively lightweight but that doesn’t take away from how sturdy it is. At 22 pounds, parents didn’t find it particularly difficult to lift in and out of their vehicle. It’s FastAction one-hand hold also assists in a seamless transition from folded to unfolded.

It is important to note that the stroller may be a tad bit bulky for small or compact vehicles so we recommend comparing the folded stroller specifications with the measurements of your vehicle’s trunk.

When it comes to the SnugRide Click Connect 30 infant car seat, parents love how lightweight it is, making it ideal for families who plan on regularly transferring the infant car seat between vehicles. This car seat also fits in most vehicles.

This travel system also meets the Disney size requirements. While you may not realize, Disneyland has a size requirement for strollers (no larger than 31” wide & 52” long). If you turn up to Disneyland with a stroller that is too big, you will have to either carry your child or rent a stroller from them. The Graco FastAction Fold Travel System conveniently meets these size requirements so you can have a stress and hassle-free day out with the family.

Will Your Child Fit The Graco FastAction Fold Travel System?

The Graco FastAction Fold Travel System will comfortably, securely, and safely accommodate your infant, toddler, or young child up to 50 pounds, whereas the SnugRide Click Connect 30 infant car seat is suitable for infants within a 4 to 30-pound weight range and up to 32 inches in height.

Unfortunately, the SnugRide Click Connect 30 does not have a relatively high maximum weight compared to other infant car seats on the market. It is recommended that children ride in a rear-facing position for as long as possible, however, a 30-pound maximum does not allow for much time rear-facing.

Your child will not only fit in this travel system but be comfortable in it too. The stroller has a deluxe, padded stroller seat with a multi-position recline so your child can be comfy as they grow. Another adjustable feature is the 5-point harness that converts into a 3-point harness.

Is The Graco FastAction Fold Travel System Is To Setup And Install?

Overall, parents found that this travel system was straightforward and simple to set up and install. The user manual is easy to follow when installing the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 infant car seat and there are a number of features to assist you during installation, including a line indicator for a proper and secure installation angle.

When it comes to usage, this travel system is conveniently designed with both a pivoting child tray with 1 cup holder as well as a parent’s tray with storage and 2 deep cup holders. The seat covers are also machine washable in a cold cycle for easy cleaning.

However, no travel system is perfect and parents experienced various minor issues. Some found it difficult to adjust the stroller seat recline, particularly when their child was already seated. Others had issues with attaching and detaching the car seat both into the stay-in-car base and the stroller. We recommend practicing attaching and unattaching the car seat a few times before you use it just so you can get used to it.

Other inconveniences include the non-adjustable stroller handle, while most parents found it to be a good height it can cause discomfort for very tall or short parents. It is also relatively easy to accidentally engage the wheel brakes while walking. However, these issues are very minor when looking at the bigger picture.

While the stroller is marketed as having extra-large storage space, parents found that it did not fit larger handbags or diaper bags.

How Safe Is The Graco FastAction Fold Travel System For Your Child?

In terms of the safety and security, the Graco FastAction Fold stroller itself offers, the front swivel wheels with suspension provide superior maneuverability and ensure a smooth ride no matter the terrain. However, some consumers found that the wheels were rather flimsy, with others reporting that the wheels fell off. If this occurs, cease using the travel system immediately and contact Graco for a resolution.

When considering how safe the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 infant car seat is, the short answer is very safe! It has been rigorously engineered and crash tested to meet or exceed all US federal safety standards to give you peace of mind. This infant car seat is equipped with EPS energy-absorbing foam for superior side-impact protection. The expandable canopy is another handy safety feature that provides protection from all the elements, including harmful UV rays.

The Graco Click Connect technology also ensures that the car seat is securely attached to the stay-in-car base with an audible ‘click’. However, it’s important to also pull up on the car seat to ensure it is firmly in place. The base is also LATCH equipped with hook style attachments, which parents tend to dislike simply because they are more difficult to work with than the newer, push-on connectors.

Parents did report some quality control issues, including faulty or missing parts, such as flimsy wheels. We strongly recommend that you contact Graco immediately if you come across this and do not use it until the issues are resolved.

Optional Accessories

  • Miracle Baby Baby Stroller Blanket

This baby stroller blanket is definitely essential for your infant, toddler, or child! While the stroller’s canopy will protect your child’s upper body, there is nothing protecting your little one’s legs from the rain or cold. This waterproof and windproof stroller blanket solves that problem immediately and is designed to clip onto either side of the stroller for a quick and simple setup.

This blanket is also multi-function as it can be used as a nursing cover, baby wrap blanket, sleeping blanket, or even as a playtime mat. The best part is that it is extremely affordable and comes in 5 cute and fun patterns.

  • Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30/35 LX Infant Car Seat Base

While the Graco FastAction Fold travel system includes Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 stay-in-car base, we definitely recommend purchasing a second base for both emergencies and second vehicles. It is a handy accessory to have if you’re a family on the go who are constantly transferring between vehicles and want to save time.

This base provides a one-step secure attachment to the car seat and features an integrated belt lock-off system for a secure and simple installation via the vehicle seat belt. To assist with installation there is an easy to read level indicator, which eliminates the guesswork when finding the correct angle. The Graco SnugRide Click Connect base is available in 1 color, ‘Black’.

What Are The Alternative Options? Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System

The Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System is another top-rated 4-wheel travel system on the market that is a great alternative to the Graco FastAction Fold Travel System.

The Evenflo Pivot Modular is unique in the fact that it is a multi-function travel system and offers 6 different modes of usage that enables you to customize your child’s ride. It is this multi-functionality that sets it apart from other travel systems.

graco fastaction fold se travel system

The Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System includes the incredibly lightweight Evenflo SafeMax Infant Car Seat, which has a weight range of 4 to 35 pounds and a height range of 17 to 32 inches. This travel system is available in 5 different color combinations.

Here are some of its key features:

  • 6 modes of usage, including a carriage mode, frame stroller, travel system, and toddler stroller.
  • Removable child tray.
  • Blanket boot.
  • Integrated belt lock-off system.
  • An anti-rebound bar.
  • An over-sized storage basket.
  • Large expandable canopy
  • Parent-friendly carrier handle.
  • Versatile cruiser tires.
  • Upfront harness adjustment for the infant car seat.
  • Expandable canopy.
  • Removable armbar.
  • One-hand fold mechanism.
  • Infant head support.

The Good: Versatile, lightweight infant car seat, and added safety with the anti-rebound bar.

The Bad: Maneuverability issues, quality control issues, and wide rear wheels.

Final Thoughts

Minus a few quality control issues, the Graco FastAction Fold Travel System with the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 infant car seat is a fantastic system that would be a good option for most families. This travel system offers convenience, comfort, style, and safety. However, we recommend thoroughly inspecting all parts prior to use to see if there are any quality control issues and if there is, to contact Graco immediately.

To sum up our review, here are our pros and cons:

Happy-baby

  • 1 second, 1 hand fold.
  • Deluxe stroller seat.
  • Pivoting child tray with cup holder.
  • Machine washable fabrics.

Sad-baby

  • Non-adjustable stroller handle.
  • The stroller does not recline enough.
  • Smaller maximum weight.
  • Reported quality control issues.

Graco FastAction Travel System Review [Ratings & Specs]

I love the Graco brand because they offer generally affordable prices for safe baby products. That’s why I was so excited to be able to test the Graco FastAction Travel System.

One feature that stood out to me was how well and quick the stroller folded up. I found this to be one of the smoothest and quickest folding actions I’ve ever seen. I did it with one hand holding my child and the other on the stroller. I suppose this is why they call it “FastAction”.

I enjoyed using the car seat as well. The travel system comes with the Graco SnugRide 35 Lite Infant Car Seat. It isn’t much different from other Graco car seats. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t come with the infant insert.

As far as the stroller goes, I found the storage compartment to be very roomy. I could easily fit my diaper bag in it. There’s a child’s tray with a cup holder, making it easy for my child to access a drink and some snacks on-the-go. When we were done, it folded to a compact size and easily fit in my trunk.

I recommend this travel system for a number of reasons. I love how small it folds up and how easy it is to do so. The infant seat isn’t anything to write home about, but the stroller certainly makes up for it.

Unique Features

When considering the endless list of travel systems online, why will this Graco system stand out?

  • Car seat top-rated in safety
  • ClickConnect system
  • Convertible 3- or 5-point harness

Pros and Cons

It’s smart to consider all of the pros and cons of a system before laying out the money. Luckily, the Graco FastAction system is affordable. In a market saturated with $500 strollers, this system is a pleasant exception.

Safety and comfort for your little one do not have to break the bank. It will be convenient for you as well. The stroller and car seat is lightweight and easy to clean. It’s not a perfect travel system, however. The SnugRide, while approved for newborn use, does not include an infant insert. Beyond that, you’ll be carrying your diaper bag – the stroller’s basket can’t fit a large diaper bag.

  • Car seat cushion is machine-washable
  • Lightweight stroller
  • Car seat lacks newborn head support
  • Bottom basket doesn’t fit a large diaper bag

Safety Ratings

Graco takes pride in how safe their products are. The SnugRide infant car seat included in the Graco FastAction Fold Click Connect system is JPMA Certified. The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, or JPMA, grants their certification to products that exceed federal safety testing.

All products with a JPMA certification have been tested in an independent laboratory to ensure its quality. Graco itself has tested its products to make sure it meets or exceeds the United State’s FMVSS 213. The seat’s foam cushion is energy-absorbing to lessen the impact in the event of an accident.

For Graco car seats, there’s a simple equation for determining the seat’s expiration date. Printed on the seat and in the manual, there’s a useful date notation.  Also on the car seat, you’ll find a label on the back or bottom with the date of manufacture printed on it. From there, you can complete the equation. Date of Manufacture + Useful Life = Car Seat Expiration Date

For example, an expiration date of October 18, 2017 and a useful life of 10 years would look like this: 8/20/2017 + 10 years = an expiration date of 8/20/2026.

The name Graco has been around for a long name. 77 years, in fact. The company was first founded in 1942. Not surprisingly, in those decades of business, the company has experienced its share of product recalls. Most notably, the SnugRide car seat featured in the FastAction travel system has been recalled. In 2003, the infant car seats were recalled when it was discovered that some bases might have missing hardware.

This hardware was used to attach the car seat to its base. Without the piece in question, the seat could detach from the base in the event of an accident.  The recall was voluntary. No injuries were reported. Customers were sent a notice of the recall. If customers found their base to be missing the piece, Graco replaced their base free of charge.

All Graco products come with a one-year limited warranty. They guarantee their product to be free of defects in material and workmanship. If a defect is found within one year of purchase, Graco will repair or replace the part at no charge. The original receipt is required to prove the date of purchase.

The Snugride Click Connect 30 infant car seat with its base weighs 10.76 pounds. Without the base, it only weighs 7 pounds. The car seat measures 14 inches in height, 17.5 inches in width, and 26.75 inches in depth. Meanwhile, the FastAction Fold stroller is lightweight, weighing only 21.3 pounds. The stroller is 41 inches tall. It’s 22 inches wide. The entire stroller is 27.5 inches deep, while the seat of the stroller is 10 inches deep.

This travel system comes in four different styles. The styles are named Janey, Bennett, Nyssa, and Finley. All styles have a base color of a dark gray with splashes of color and patterns.

  • The Janey has swatches of lavender, tan, and a white floral pattern.
  • The Bennett is mostly dark gray, with shades of pale green and a striped pattern.
  • Nyssa is purple and mint green with a different floral pattern.
  • Finley has a circle pattern with shades of gray and red.

Customer Reviews

graco fastaction fold se travel system

Customers do have some complaints. Parents have found the car base hard to install for the first time. Once it’s in, it’s secure, but moving it to a second car can be a challenge.

Also, a lot of parents disliked how the stroller’s canopy was challenging to keep open and extended. Babies ended up with a face full of sunshine, thanks to the faulty canopy.

What Customers Like

  • Car seat is roomy
  • A car seat clicks easily into base and stroller
  • Stroller is easy to navigate

What Customers Don’t Like

  • Car seat base is hard to install
  • Car seat canopy is difficult to keep extended

Similar Travel Systems

Safety 1st smooth ride travel system.

graco fastaction fold se travel system

Between the two systems, there are some differences that can make or break the decision to pick one over the other. For example, the Graco SnugRide car seat does not include a dedicated newborn insert. Some parents find it does not offer enough head and neck support for the littlest of babies.

The Safety 1 st car seat comes standard with a newborn insert. Also, if you plan on strolling outdoors often, the Graco canopy might not be enough for sunny days. The Safety 1 st stroller features an extra-large canopy for maximum shade.

Which travel system should you pick? It comes down to preference. If you need to place a premature baby or small newborn in a car seat, Safety 1st Travel System may be the better choice.

Similarities

  • Both have high safety ratings
  • Both have secure click lock systems
  • Both have easy-to-fold strollers

Differences

  • Graco has front double-wheels
  • Safety 1 st has a newborn insert
  • Safety 1 st has an extra-large canopy
  • Graco comes in fun patterns

[content-egg-block template=offers_logo]

Evenflo Sibby Travel System

If you need an affordable travel system, both the Graco and the Evenflo Sibby system are reasonably priced. For on-the-go parents, both the Graco and Evenflo strollers promise an easy one-hand fold.

Most notably, the Evenflo includes an easy-to-attach ride-along board. This allows an older child to ride on the back of the stroller. The younger sibling in the stroller seat, unfortunately, will not have a child tray, even though there is a parent tray.

The lack of cup holders could mean an unhappy toddler. Still, if you plan on having multiple children, the Evenflo system only comes in two shades of a neutral gray, meaning it can be used for any gender.

Which travel system is superior? With these two systems, it comes down to family size. For parents of one child, stick with Graco . However, if you have an infant and an older sibling, the Evenflo Sibby is exactly what you need. Likewise, since the Evenflo only comes in two gender-neutral colors, you can always pass it down to another baby.

  • Both are affordable
  • Evenflo has a ride-along board
  • Evenflo has a shorter warranty
  • Evenflo does not have a child tray
  • Evenflo only comes in two neutral colors

Deciding on Travel System

As parents, we want to be our children’s superheroes. Our first mission is always to keep them safe from danger. A reliable travel system is just one of the many steps towards achieving that goal.

Keep in mind all the pros and cons of the Graco FastAction Click Connect travel system when making a decision.  Don’t worry – no matter what, you’ll make the right decision for your family.

Graco FastAction Fold Sport Travel System Review — thoughts after 2 and a half years with this combo …

  • April 27, 2023

Stroller review? Check.

Car seat review? Check.

Buying both in a package deal?!  Double Check.

Aaron Rogers? Discount Double Check.

I Need a Car Seat AND a Stroller!

Well you’re in luck!  The Graco FastAction Fold Sport Travel System is a great way to fill both of those needs.  In this review, we’re going to talk about the stroller – is it durable, easy to use, etc.

And the car seat – the things we like and dislike.

It can be challenging to find a stroller that fits your needs as a family.  Some are big and bulky and cost $5,000 (no, really ).  Others seem too cheap to trust putting your child in and maneuver cracks in the sidewalk. Never fear! At Fathercraft, we go deep on strollers, so chancers are we have a stroller review for you.

Once you finally find a stroller that you like and think will work for your lifestyle, you now get to see if the carseat you planned on buying (or already have) is compatible with said stroller. Quick side note: why is it helpful to have a stroller and car seat that are compatible? Well, when your little one is real little, he may fall asleep in the car and you may really not want to wake him to transfer to the stroller. Hence: strollers that have car seat adapters. Simply unclick the car seat from its base in the car and click it into the stroller. Do all this with the super stealth transfer moves you’ll quickly develop as a parent and viola! Your baby continues to sleep peacefully.

But, what if you could buy a stroller that works for your family, is from a reliable brand, is easy to use and it includes a great car seat that is compatible?!  That’s exactly what we have here.  So, let’s get into it.

The Stroller

This Graco Stroller has been used and abused for over 2 and a half years in my house.  We bought it before our first son was born, and now use it with our second boy.  It has been folded and unfolded hundreds and hundreds of times.  It has seen puke, poop, food, water, juice, milk, dirt, mud, chalk…. you name it, this stroller has seen it.  It has been pushed around the neighborhood, the campground, the zoo, 5k’s, vacation  – just about anywhere and everywhere you can take a stroller.

A kid in the Graco FastAction Fold stroller

So – before we get into the minutiae of “was it easy to assemble” and “how much does it weigh” and “would it survive the Dwight Schrute Stroller Test ?”, I’ll go ahead and give my opinion on this stroller:

It’s Awesome. In fact, we’ve named it one of our top strollers of 2023 .

Now, for the minutiae.

Specs

  • Stroller holds a child up to 50 pounds
  • Stroller features a one-second fold
  • Multi-position reclining seat to find the perfect position for baby’s comfort.
  • Large storage basket with expandable rear pouch to hold all your travel essentials.
  • Stroller weight: 21.38 lbs
  • Child’s tray with cup holder pivots or removes for no-fuss stroller entry
  • Convertible 3- or 5-point harness grows with your child
  • *Meets Disney size requirements*

Lets go over some of these specs;

  • One Second Fold: Yes, really!  There is a red strap right in the middle of the seat.  Pull up on the strap, and the stroller folds in half.  This is super convenient – you don’t have to click 20 little buttons to get the stroller to break down.  This part is awesome!
  • Reclining Seat:  This is also a cool feature.  When your little one is in their car seat, the stroller needs to be fully reclined.  But when they can sit in the stroller on their own, you have the option to have them sit upright or recline to almost completely flat.
  • Childs tray pivots or removes:  This is also a feature I like.  Sometimes it’s just easier to leave the tray off – it makes for easier transportation and it allows your little one to just hop in and out easily.

My Takeaways After 2.5 Years

graco fastaction fold se travel system

  • That this stroller is super easy to use.  I have had to fold and unfold this thing hundreds of times of the last few years.  The folding mechanism shows no signs of breaking down or getting worn out.  Like I mentioned, it really is a 1 second process.
  • That this stroller is durable.  We have used this thing in all different types of environments – walks, camping trips, zoo visits, etc. and it has stood the test of time.  It has been loaded into the trunk of my car over and over. The wheels have gone through gravel and dirt.  The fabric has been abused with goldfish crumbs and juice. Yet, it still looks new and functions just the same.
  • When I’m pushing the stroller, it feels big and solid but I can easily load it into the trunk of my small car. This isn’t a small, flimsy stroller that weighs 2lbs.  But at the same time, its not so bulky that its a bear to move around.  When I’m pushing my kid in it, there is a nice weight there so I feel confident that a small bump won’t knock us over.
  • That this stroller came with a great carrier that just clips right in! We have been using the stroller for our 2yr old, but with the birth of our second son, we can just go back to clipping his carrier in for walks. It’s super easy and intuitive when attaching and removing the carrier.

I don’t like…

  • My biggest complaint is about the wheels. This stroller isn’t marketed as an ‘off-road’ stroller – BUT… if those front wheels catch a rock the wrong way, they lock up and put the breaks on.  We’ve had a couple times where we were going at a good pace and hit a rock or large bump/crack in the sidewalk and the back wheels nearly lifted off the ground because we came to a sudden and abrupt stop.  I’m not asking for off-road jeep wheels and a 3 inch lift kit, but being able to walk down a sidewalk without flinging my kid out would be nice.
  • The cupholders are not very deep. Yes, I know – first world problem times 10.  But if you have a drink in the cupholder like coffee or something with an open lid, bumps will be your enemy. We’ve even had taller water containers flip out of the cup holder because they are only an inch and a half-or-so deep.

Are the dislikes enough to outweigh the likes? Not in my mind. For the value – this stroller is perfect for our family.  It’s not too expensive, it comes with a carrier, it’s very easy to use and its good quality. It’s like a Camry or Accord. Are they the most luxurious? The fastest? Coolest looking? No.  But they’re not cheap, poor quality or impractical. That’s what you’re getting with this stroller.

The Car Seat

graco fastaction fold se travel system

The Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35 Infant Car Seat can be purchased on its own, but it is included in this package deal along with the stroller. This car seat on its own comes in at $143 on amazon .

As far as car seats go – you can’t do much better than this one. Like I’ve said, we have used this one twice now in the last two years. To be honest – there’s nothing I don’t like about this carrier.  One thing I especially love about this system is that the car seat just snaps into the base (which stays in the car). Meaning, you don’t have to get the baby out of the car seat in order to leave the vehicle, you just pick them up in the car seat and move on.

Lets go over some of the details:

  • SnugLock Technology – A Hassle-Free 3-Step Installation; infant car seat helps protect rear-facing infants from 4 – 35 lbs and up to 32″
  • Adjustable base with 4 recline positions lets you customize fit to your vehicle; easy-to-read level indicator helps eliminate installation guesswork
  • Click Connect technology provides one-step secure attachment of baby car seat to all Graco Click Connect strollers and bases; convenient compartment stores both the LATCH connectors and manual when not in use
  • Rotating canopy provides shade and sun protection for your baby; removable newborn head and body support cushions baby; easy to use front adjust 5-point harness helps secure your child; lightweight infant car seat for easy carrying
  • Side impact tested for occupant retention solely with the built-in 5-point harness system; engineered & rigorously crash tested to meet or exceed US standard FMVSS 213
  • Graco ProtectPlus Engineered: a combination of the most rigorous crash tests that helps protect your child in frontal, side, rear & rollover crashes; additional testing based on the New Car Assessment Program and for extreme car interior temperatures

These are the main talking points from Graco. I want to go over a few of these in more detail:

  • Click Connect technology: This is super cool. When you put the car seat into the base, you hear a loud click sound that tells you everything is good.  Same for when you put the carrier into the stroller – loud click telling you that it is properly latched.
  • The canopy is really nice – super convenient for helping block out the sun.
  • The fabric is durable and completely removable for washing.  As we found out on consecutive weekend camping trips, sometimes little kids get carsick…

The Car Seat/Stroller Combo

So we’ve covered each individual product, now let’s talk about using them in conjunction. Like I’ve mentioned, using them in combination is incredibly easy. To use the stroller with the car seat attached, all you have to do is recline the stroller seat and snap the car seat in (you’ll hear that magic *click* sound). To use the stroller as simply a stroller, you can adjust the recline of the back to your child’s liking.

If you’re wondering, when should I use the car seat or just the stroller? Well, that depends on the age of your child.

Use the car seat and stroller when…

Your child is unable to support their own head. Usually, sometime around the 3 month mark kids are able to support their head. Until then, you need to have your child in the car seat when using the stroller.

Use the car seat or stroller when…

Your child is able to support their own head, but maybe not old enough to be strong enough to sit in the stroller for a long period of time.  We found that if we were going on a short walk we would toss the baby in the stroller and get moving. But if we were going to be on the move for a while, we’d have him in the car seat just so he’d be more comfortable.

Use just the stroller when…

Your child has outgrown the car seat. We still use our stroller with our 2.5 year old – it’s still plenty big enough and comfortable for him.

Wrapping Up

If I could wrap up this review with 2 takeaways, it would be this: Easy to use. Good quality.

That summarizes the stroller and the car seat. They are both super easy to use. This is so nice when you’re in a hurry, when you’re by yourself or you are in the parking lot and a downpour just started. Everything about this ‘travel system’ was created with ease of use in mind – and they did a great job. Quality – like I alluded to earlier, these items have been made with good quality materials and they last through a lot of use.

Buying Guide

When looking to buy a travel system for your baby, it’s important to consider a few key features to ensure that you are getting the best product for your needs. Here are some things to keep in mind when shopping for a travel system:

Type of Travel System

There are two main types of travel systems: traditional and lightweight. Traditional travel systems typically include a larger stroller with a variety of features, such as adjustable seat positions, a storage basket, and a canopy. Lightweight travel systems, on the other hand, are designed to be more compact and easy to maneuver. They often have fewer features but are more portable and easier to store.

Car Seat Compatibility

Another important factor to consider when choosing a travel system is car seat compatibility. Make sure that the travel system you choose is compatible with your car seat, or that it includes a car seat that meets your needs. Some travel systems come with a car seat that can be used both in the car and with the stroller, while others require you to purchase a separate car seat.

Maneuverability

The maneuverability of the stroller is also an important consideration. Look for a travel system that is easy to push and steer, especially if you plan to use it for long walks or trips to the mall. Consider the size of the wheels, the weight of the stroller, and the overall design of the frame.

Storage and Accessories

Finally, think about the storage and accessories that come with the travel system. Look for a stroller with a large storage basket and plenty of pockets for keeping essentials close at hand. Consider whether the stroller comes with a cup holder, a tray for snacks, or other accessories that might be useful.

By considering these factors and doing your research, you can find a travel system that meets your needs and keeps your baby safe and comfortable on the go.

Moscow, like other international urban areas , is decentralizing, despite considerable barriers. The expansion will lead to even more decentralization, which is likely to lead to less time "stuck in traffic" and more comfortable lifestyles. Let's hope that Russia's urban development policies, along with its plans to restore population growth, will lead to higher household incomes and much improved economic performance.

Note 1: The 23 ward (ku) area of Tokyo is the geography of the former city of Tokyo, which was abolished in the 1940s. There is considerable confusion about the geography of Tokyo. For example, the 23 ward area is a part of the prefecture of Tokyo, which is also called the Tokyo Metropolis, which has led some analysts to think of it as the Tokyo metropolitan area (labor market area). In fact, the Tokyo metropolitan area, variously defined, includes, at a minimum the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama with some municipalities in Gunma, Ibaraki and Tochigi. The metropolitan area contains nearly three times the population of the "Tokyo Metropolis."

Road in city area.

The roads and ways of the city areas are very clumsy and many accidents are happening due to the short road. But you need to maintain the driving properly otherwise you may face accident. So now the government decided to expand the road which may put the positive effect on automobile sector. I think it is a helpful service for the society people. If you have a BMW car and you have faced any problem then better to repair it at BMW Repair Spring, TX for the best service.

Moscow is bursting Noblesse

Moscow is bursting Noblesse at the seams. The core city covers more than 420 square miles (1,090 kilometers), and has a population of approximately 11.5 million people. With 27,300 residents per square mile (10,500 per square kilometer), Moscow is one percent more dense than the bleach anime watch city of New York, though Moscow covers 30 percent more land. The 23 ward area of Tokyo (see Note) is at least a third more dense, though Moscow's land area is at least half again as large as Tokyo. All three core areas rely

Russians seeing the light while Western elites are bickering?

What an extremely interesting analysis - well done, Wendell.

It is also extremely interesting that the Russian leadership is reasonably pragmatic about urban form, in contrast to the "planners" of the post-rational West.

An acquaintance recently sent me an article from "The New Yorker", re Moscow's traffic problems.

The article "abstract" is HERE (but access to the full article requires subscription)

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/02/100802fa_fact_gessen

One classic quote worth taking from it, is: "People will endure all manner of humiliation to keep driving".

I do find it odd that the "New Yorker" article author says nothing at all about the rail transit system Moscow had, on which everyone was obliged to travel, under Communism. It can't surely have vaporised into thin air?

Moscow is a classic illustration of just how outmoded rails are, and how important "automobility" is, when the auto supplants rails so rapidly than even when everybody did travel on rails up to a certain date, and the road network dates to that era, when nobody was allowed to own a car; an article written just 2 decades later does not even mention the rail transit system, other than to criticise the mayor for "failing to invest in a transit system".......!!!!!!!!

This is also a give-away of "The New Yorker's" inability to shake off the modern PC ideology on rails vs cars.

Wheelchair Travel

Moscow Public Transportation

The public transportation system in Moscow is moderately accessible, much to the surprise of many. Use of this transportation network will require some planning for disabled travelers, especially those in wheelchairs. An ability to understand and recognize the Cyrillic alphabet will also make its use much easier for travelers of all abilities. The city’s subway system is not accessible to wheelchairs. The vast majority of city buses and trolley buses offer step-free access.

Metro Subway

The Moscow Metro Subway is spread across 12 lines and serves 196 stations throughout the city. While some stations have recently had elevators installed, the system cannot be considered wheelchair accessible. Large gaps of up to 6 inches exist between the subway train and station platforms. Trains are often not level with the platform and require a step up of a similar distance.

Stations without elevators require travelers to ascend or descend long flights of stairs. I strongly recommend that you use the accessible city bus network and avoid the subway.

City Bus and Trolleybus System

Moscow is served by an increasingly modern city bus system with hundreds of routes/lines. Every major city street is served by at least one bus line. Busses are numbered and lettered with route information. The network consists of normal, gas-powered city buses and the largest electricity-powered trolleybus system in the world.

The majority of city buses and trolleybuses now have lowered floors and are wheelchair accessible. The door at the center of the bus is equipped with a manual ramp which the bus operator will extend for wheelchair users. These ramps can be quite steep, but the bus operator can assist with pushing the wheelchair up the ramp. Wheelchair accessible buses are equipped with a securement space for wheelchairs with tie downs/straps and a seatbelt. Priority reserved seating is available for seniors and persons with disabilities.

All wheelchair accessible buses are marked with the international symbol of access (the wheelchair icon) at the center door or on the front of the vehicle. Wheelchair entry is possible only through the center door, where the retractable or fold out ramp is located. Wheelchair travelers ride the city bus and trolleybus free of charge. You should flag down the approaching bus if wish to ride, so that the operator can maneuver the bus close to the curb for ramp deployment.

On-street rail trams

The City of Moscow is served by 44 on street tram lines, which run on recessed rails and are powered by electricity. All trams require riders to climb several steps in order to access the passenger cabin. There are no implements which make wheelchair access possible. Disabled travelers should plan to avoid any routes which require the use of a tram. City buses adequately serve all parts of the city in which the trams operate.

City Sightseeing Moscow Hop-on/off Tour Bus

Although it is not managed by the city, the City Sightseeing Moscow tour bus travels to all of the major sights in Moscow and allows patrons to hop-on and hop-off at nearly 40 stops. The bus stops at or near all of the sights I have reviewed on this website. The next bus is available 30-40 minutes after the one before and the entire route circle takes 60 minutes to complete. Buses are wheelchair accessible, with fold-out ramps at the rear doors. One dedicated wheelchair space is available on each bus.

Passengers are provided with a set of headphones which can be plugged in to the at-seat ports. An audio guide is available in multiple languages, including English. Tickets for adults, good for 24 hours from the time of purchase, are available for 700 RUB. They can be purchased online with credit card, or onboard the bus with cash.  Tickets are provided free of charge to wheelchair users and for other persons with proof of disability. Discounts are also available to seniors with identification. For additional information on the Moscow City Sightseeing Bus or to download route maps, visit  city-sightseeing.com .

Moscow Metro: The Complete Guide

The Moscow Metro is busy, but easy to use

Robert Schrader

With nearly 7 million riders per day on its 16 lines, the Moscow Metro is the sixth-busiest metro system in the world as of March 2019. Riding the Moscow Metro, however, does not need to be a stressful experience. In fact, it's by far the easiest and most enjoyable way to get around Moscow, especially since many Moscow Metro stations are veritable works of art. Our guide to the public transportation will teach you how to ride the Metro and more.

How to Ride the Moscow Metro

Here is some essential practical information you need to know to easily and seamlessly ride the Moscow Metro.

  • Fares: Moscow Metro fares start at 55 rubles for a one-way ticket, which is good for five days after purchase. You'll pay more if your journey takes you outside of the central Moscow zones of A and B, though this is not the case for most tourists.
  • How to Pay: Cash is the only way to buy a one-way ticket. However, if you have Apple Pay or Samsung Pay, you can tap your phone directly at the ticket gate and enter using NFC technology. You can also use both mobile payments and credit cards to top-up your reloadable Troika card.
  • Routes and Hours: The Moscow Metro has 13 lines that snake and criss-cross the city, plus outer and inner loop lines that string them together, as well as a monorail. The Moscow Metro is open from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m., and trains run with a frequency that can range between 1 and 7 minutes.
  • Service Alerts: Download the official MosMetro app on the AppStore or Google Play .
  • Transfers: Regardless of how you pay to enter the Moscow Metro, you can transfer to any of the core lines plus the Moscow Monorail without passing through an additional ticket gate. If you wish to transfer to bus lines, airport trains or other rail services, paying with Troika or your mobile device might be more convenient.
  • Accessibility: Although Moscow Metro is impressive and modern in many ways, it is not very accessible . Visitors who use wheelchairs should try to avoid the subway and take aboveground transportation instead.

Beautiful Moscow Metro Stations

The Moscow Metro has achieved internet notoriety — and not just because of how busy it is. Several Moscow Metro stations are distractingly beautiful, including:

  • Aviamotornaya: Brilliant gold themed to the flight of Icarus.
  • Komsomolskaya: Bright yellow ceilings and murals chronicling Russia's journey to independence.
  • Mayakovskaya: Art Deco, featuring mosaic ceilings and pink marble floor
  • Park Pobedy: Modern station (built in 2003) with colorful murals; one of the deepest metro stations in the world (276 feet below ground!).
  • Ploschad Revolutsii: Constructed in 1938 at the height of Soviet pride, this station is home to bronze statues that locals still rub for good luck.

Although it's technically legal to take pictures within the Moscow Metro, guards might approach you if you spend too long photographing a particular station, or use professional equipment like a tripod. Be as discreet as possible to avoid an uncomfortable confrontation!

Other Moscow Public Transit

In addition to the (mostly) subterranean transport offered by the Moscow Metro, Russia's capital is home to a number of aboveground transport options. This includes a large network of buses, as well as trams and "trolley buses." While these are all cheaper than the Moscow Metro, they also require some command of Russian to use; the ordinary buses are also subject to sitting in Moscow's terrible traffic.

In terms of payment, your Moscow Metro ticket isn't valid for transit to any other form of transit, though a Troika card will allow you to do so seamlessly. Likewise, while the various Aeroexpress trains (between Sheremetyevo Airport and Belorussky Station, Domodedovo Airport and Paveletsky Station and between Vnukovo Airport and Kievsky Station) feature modern vehicles and offer fast, reliable connections to Moscow's major airports, these lines are not considered to be part of the Moscow Metro system.

As noted earlier, the Moscow Metro is technically organized by "Zone," with the center of Moscow being occupied by the "A" and "B" zone. Again, you shouldn't worry too much about this. If you're hanging out in the parts of the city, you probably speak enough Russian to be able to ask a local for advice!

Taxis and Ride Sharing Apps

The bad news? It is exceedingly unlikely that a taxi drive in Moscow will speak English. The good news? Uber works in Moscow as of March 2019, which means that if you have the app installed on your smartphone (and a Russian SIM card, which you can pick up at Moscow Airport), your next Moscow ride is basically a matter of plug-and-play.

Russia also has a number of homegrown ride sharing apps, though these aren't as ubiquitous as Uber — they also don't have good English-language interfaces. If you're interested in learning more about them, in any case, be sure to visit the websites of InDriver or Taxi Maxim . Keep in mind that many of these applications require Russian credit cards, or a Russian bank account to pay for rides.

Security-wise, the technological aspect of using ride sharing apps in Russia makes them relatively safe. On the other hand, taxis have a dodgy reputation at best. If you do end up needing to take a taxi in Moscow, make sure to use a registered car. The ones waiting at the airport stands are generally legitimate; within the city limits, try and have your hotel call a taxi to be safe.

Renting a Car in Moscow

Traffic in Moscow is reliably awful, to say nothing of how difficult navigating the city's serpentine network of ring roads and one-way streets can be. However, if you do want to rent a car in Moscow (or in Russia, more generally) there are some facts you should keep in mind.

Documentation wise, it's not officially necessary to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) — your US driver's license will work, at least if you plan to drive in Russia for less than six months. However, it might serve you well to get an IDP (you can apply at your local AAA office) for peace of mind. In Russia as in the US, you drive on the right side of the road; gas costs about 40 rubles per liter, or about $2.40 per gallon.

Another potential downfall of renting a car of Russia is the threat of interactions with Russian traffic police. While this doesn't put you in any mortal danger, there is a chance you'll have to bribe your way out of any confrontation, which outside the center of Moscow or other Russian cities will almost certainly necessitate some Russian language or body language skills.

Tips for Getting Around Moscow

Regardless of whether you take the Moscow Metro or any of the other transportation options listed here, these general tips for getting around Moscow will serve you well:

  • Moscow's city center is very walkable. Unless you're visiting on a bitterly cold day during the middle of winter, many of Moscow's attractions are close enough together that you could walk. For example, you can easily walk from Red Square to Gorky Park, Bolshoy Theatre , Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts , the Kremlin or simply along the Moskva River.
  • All roads lead to Red Square. Although Moscow is not a grid-pattern city, it is relatively organized. The majority of major roads start and end at Red Square; the rest are circular ones that connect the "spokes" from Red Square. With this basic idea in mind, it's pretty difficult to get lost in Moscow!
  • Moscow's awful traffic means that rail is usually the quickest option. Even if the physical distance between two places is shorter by car, traveling via the Moscow Metro is probably going to be quicker.
  • English signage in Moscow has greatly improved over the years. On the other hand, familiarizing yourself with the Cyrillic alphabet before your trip to Russia probably wouldn't be a bad idea. If you need to push someone out of the way (spoiler alert: you probably will!), say izvineetye (sorry) to excuse yourself.
  • Petty theft is common, especially during rush hour. Wear your backpack in front of your body, and don't keep large amounts of cash (or your smartphone!) in your back pocket. Hide any conspicuous signs of wealth to avoid being a target!

The Moscow Metro is easy to use—once you get the hang of it. After all, more than two billion trips take place across its rails every year. If it were difficult, this simply wouldn't be possible! Want to learn more about things to do in Moscow? Make sure to check out this guide to Red Square , which is both the geographical and cultural heart of Moscow (and arguably Russia).
