Epic Flight Academy opens aircraft mechanic school at CVG Airport Monday

Epic Flight Academy has officially opened its new aircraft mechanic school at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

The school opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday. The company broke ground on the 32,000-square-foot building last April.

The school is expected to house up to 300 students and staff, teaching them how to work on commercial planes that come and go from CVG.

The flight academy consists of more than 15,000 square feet of shop space/training area and nearly 16,000 square feet of classrooms and finished office space.

There are 10 classrooms, a library, a cafeteria and private offices.

Students began training at the academy last week and the program takes approximately 17 months to complete.

The new school and training areas offer students the opportunity to get experience working on aircraft engines and to learn how to repair plane and helicopter equipment, in addition to completing other coursework.

"We are pleased to welcome Epic Flight Academy to CVG, and we look forward to growing this partnership. Aircraft mechanics are in high demand," CVG CEO Candace McGraw said Monday in a release.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear also congratulated Epic Flight Academy on the opening, praising the impact that it could have on the state's economy.

"This new training facility from Epic Flight Academy will train workers at CVG, helping prepare thousands of Kentuckians to make an impact in their communities, while also supporting their families through skilled, well-paying jobs," Beshear said.
