It is important that all pupils get off their bus at school in the morning and board their bus at schoo l at the end of the day.

We ask that pupils walk to school via Biggins Lane & the back of school.

That’s because the front of school is always very busy in the morning and at the end of the school day.

We need to be very aware of safety.

In very special cases we can arrange for a pass to cross the road at the front of school at the end of day.

Staff will be on hand to check passes and cross pupils safely across the road.

Drop Off & Pick Up

We ask that pupils are picked up at the back of school or at booths..

That’s also because the front of school is always very busy with traffic and particularly buses in the morning and at the end of the school day.

Unfortunately, we do not have a drop off facility.

We also ask pupils to wait in the car park between the rear of Booths and the A65 and avoid blocking the entrance for customers.

Travelling On The Bus - FAQ

We hope to have widened the turning circle at the front of Queen Elizabeth School. This means that the majority of our school bus/coach transport will be able to arrive and park before the end of the school day. Students will be able to make their own way from their last lesson and board their bus/coach. They will need to show school staff and/or the driver a bus pass and these will be checked on a regular basis. There may be a slight delay in these being issued at the very start of term. The 81 and 99 Stagecoach public service buses will arrive a little later and students will wait on the Piazza in good weather and will be directed to inside areas when the weather is unpleasant. Students for the 81 services will congregate in the Main Theatre and students for the 99 services in New Close.

It takes 10-15 minutes for the buses to load fully. Once all buses have loaded with all years represented and no-one obviously missing we will let the buses depart. With clubs after school and the individual arrangements that students make it isn’t possible for staff to know who to expect on every bus. We do encourage students to let the driver know if they are not on the afternoon service when they get off in the morning.

If you have missed your bus in the morning you will need to have a plan B. This might require you to return home or phone a parent who will need to get you to school as soon as they can. It helps us if a parent can call to let us know that you are on your way but likely to be late. Occasionally students do miss afternoon buses for a range of reasons. For example they may have gone back for a left item. We are sometimes able to put a student on a different bus/coach but we will only do this if we have been able to get in touch with a parent to let them know that their son/daughter is travelling on a different service. If this isn’t possible the student is directed to our main reception where alternative arrangements are made and parents contacted. Many staff are on site for quite some time after the end of the school day so students will be safe whilst they are waiting to be collected.

During the recent COVID period students have been sat in zones on the bus/coach. This means that younger students sit at the front and older students sit at the back. On some services we can separate year groups. For example we have two identical Holme and Burton routes, one for Years 7-9 and the other for Years 10-13. The 81B service is a double decker where Years 7-9 are on the lower deck and Years 10-13 on the upper deck. Students are encouraged to sit in the same seat and sometimes we specifically instruct a student to sit in a particular seat.

Supervising staff are present in the morning and afternoon; they wear bright yellow jackets. Any of these will be able to help you.

This is unacceptable and you should inform a member of staff eg your form tutor or Head of Year. Alternatively, you can ask your parent to phone or email school using the email [email protected] and it will be followed up. Your journey to school should be safe and pleasant. Aim to use the time well by either reading, going over work that you have covered during the day or listening to music.

We work closely with the companies that provide our school transport. They let us know of any issues which are fortunately quite rare. We follow all issues up by getting a full picture of what has taken place. A staged response is used which ranges from a private word, school detention, bus contract with parents involved and ultimately to a period of removal from the bus for a period of time or permanently. Our bus and coach drivers provide an essential service in our rural area and they often tell us how pleased they are to transport our students. Please ensure you are polite and take all litter with you and maintain our School Values.

What's the deal with everyone here asking about "the cheapest possible way"? Public transport in Russia is very cheap. And if it's your first time in Russia and you do not speak Russian, then shouldn't you be more interested in reaching your destination easily, comfortably, and without getting lost somewhere more than about the cost?

Use either Aeroexpress+metro combo or order a taxi.

If you use the Aeroexpress+metro option then you'll need to 1) reach one of the Moscow train terminals (which one depends on the airport you're arriving at) via Aeroexpress 2) enter the metro and go to the Green line then exit the metro on either Paveletskaya or Novokuznetskaya station.

@#6 Yes, seriously, because the tourist can be anyone, for example, a resident of UK (not a citizen), or opposite resident of China ( citizen of UK). He will arriving to unknown airport and staying in the ibis hotel . Also , I know a Russian who has such a card.
