The Breeders Announce Last Splash 30th Anniversary Edition, 2023 Tour Dates
The post The Breeders Announce Last Splash 30th Anniversary Edition, 2023 Tour Dates appeared first on Consequence .
The Breeders have spent the past three decades crashing on the last splash. The ’90s alt-rock legends are celebrating the occasion with Last Splash (30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition), plus 2023 tour dates where they’ll play the 1993 record in its entirety. You can preview the reissue now with a newly-unearthed track from the era called “Go Man Go,” co-written with Pixies vocalist Black Francis.
Then composed of twin sisters Kim and Kelley Deal along with Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson, The Breeders rose to international fame with Last Splash, their sophomore album. Along with a double-LP of the original tracklist — including classics like “Cannonball” and “Drivin’ on 9” — comes a one-sided etched 12” disc containing “Go Man Go,” as well as a version of “Divine Hammer” with Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis on lead vocals, appropriately titled “Divine Mascis.” The remaster was cut at half speed at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell, and pre-orders are ongoing.
The Breeders’ headlining tour dates will take them across North America this fall, and they’ll be playing Last Splash in its entirety; they also have previously-announced shows coming up with Foo Fighters .
Tickets go on sale Friday, June 30th via Ticketmaster . You can also check for deals StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
Watch a brand-new music video for “Go Man Go” below, and then keep scrolling to see the details for Last Splash (30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition) and The Breeders’ 2023 tour dates.

What a great show!
We arrived and the First band “Melk Belly”
Who really rocked it was a pleasant surprise cause usually your just thinking can we just get to the band we want to see and we’re just awesome and a good pairing to line up with Thd Breeders!
So The Breeders take the stage and Kim and Kelly were in great moods and it just spred threw out the audience and just seem to make everyone feel a connection.
They actually new what city they were in and told some stories and just rocked it,Kim even noticed my 2005 Pixies tour t-shirt and comented on it and at the end of the show Kim hands me her set list!
I can’t think of it getting much better than that, except The National ofwhich anyone we ran into was very cool, but when the first band went on i noticed that the stage pa speakers weren’t on and I even went and told the sound guy, there apparently is a short in the power source for them as they kept cutting on and off throughout most of the show there for we couldn’t hear most of what they were saying because the main PA system is aimed out on the sides and we were right in the middle of front stage so what you could here was just the slap back from the main PA which was a bummer but beyond that what a GREAT Night!
The show had 110% studio quality sound. They really enjoyed being up there as they played. They were always smiling. They were very appreciative of their fan base cheering them on in the crowd! We met them after the show. They were super friendly and happily signed our swag!

The Breeders started life as a side project for Kim Deal of the Pixies, Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses, Josephine Wiggs of the British band The Perfect Disaster, and Britt Walford of Slint. They recorded the album Pod with Steve Albini in a mere ten days, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The album was released on 4AD in 1990 to critical acclaim. The press dubbed the Breeders an Indie Supergroup, but the band were able to play only two London shows before returning to their day jobs.
During another hiatus in 1992, Josephine flew to Dayton, Ohio, where Kim had recruited her sister Kelley to learn lead guitar, and stolen powerhouse drummer Jim Macpherson after seeing him play in a local band. They broke an exhaustive rehearsal schedule only to watch nightly re-runs of Star Trek The Next Generation.
The Breeders first tour launched in June 1992 in a snooker hall behind Warrington Rugby Club, Manchester, in the UK. Two days later, they supported Nirvana in Dublin and Belfast, and then performed at Glastonbury. After 27 sold-out US shows that fall, the band drove cross-country to San Francisco to record Last Splash, (released August 1993). The video for the single Cannonball—directed by Kim Gordon and Spike Jonze—was in heavy rotation on MTV’s 120 minutes throughout the fall. The band provided support for Nirvana’s In Utero tour, then in January 1994 they traveled to Australia, Japan, and Hawaii, where they were shot for the cover of Rolling Stone—only to be supplanted by the “Ladies of Melrose Place.” That summer they embarked upon the epic Lollapalooza ‘94; the Melody Maker opined, "Kim's nicotine-stained vocals [are] the very spit of wasted elegance…” the Breeders are “probably the most casually brilliant band around” and Last Splash went platinum. Whatever that means.
In 2013, Kim, Kelley, Josephine and Jim reunited for the 20th anniversary of Last Splash. 4AD reissued the album as a deluxe box set, and the “classic" lineup of the Breeders (augmented by violinist Carrie Bradley) toured the US, Europe, Austrailia and South America, performing the album at festivals, and playing eight months of sold-out shows. In London, they played Last Splash and Pod back to back, a tour de force they went on to repeat several times. The final run of shows took them across country from Dayton to L.A.— dubbed by Kelley the “Mid West Coast Tour”—culminating in a performance supporting Neutral Milk Hotel at the Hollywood Bowl.
As the end of the reunion tour approached—Kim, or was it Kelley?—broached the idea of carrying on—and the Breeders started working on material for a new album. They will play shows this fall, including a show with Arcade Fire in late October.

The Breeders mark 30th anniversary of “Last Splash” with new reissue, tour — hear an unreleased song
The Breeders will mark the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough second album Last Splash with a new reissue featuring unreleased music — and by playing the record in full on a tour that will include some dates opened by Belly, the band founded by ex-Breeder Tanya Donnelly.
The 4AD label will release Last Splash (30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition) on Sept. 22 in digital formats, on CD and on both black and clear vinyl. The album is remastered for the first time from the newly-found original analog tapes, the label says, and the vinyl was cut at half-speed at Abbey Road for a 45 rpm, 2LP pressing.
The new reissue can be pre-ordered now via Amazon.com or from 4AD’s store .
The vinyl edition of the new reissue will include a bonus one-sided, etched 12-inch featuring two previously unreleased tracks: “Go Man Go,” a song Kim Deal cowrote with her former Pixies bandmate Black Francis, and “Divine Mascis,” an alternate recording of “Divine Hammer” with Dinosaur Jr’s J Mascis on lead vocals. Both songs date back to the original recording sessions for the 1993 album, the label says, and “were left forgotten until the sessions were exhumed to create this new master.”
You can hear “Go Man Go” below via its new music video.
The CD edition is a single-disc affair featuring a Japanese vinyl replica sleeve with the original LP art that will include a “high definition master of the album” — and both of the previously unreleased tracks.
The Last Splash -era lineup of The Breeders — Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson — reunited in 2012 in conjunction with the 20th anniversary reissue of that album. After considerable touring, the group went on to record the band’s fifth album, All Nerve , which was released in 2018.
Since then, the band has released a cover of His Name Is Alive’s “The Dirt Eaters,” part of a 4AD collection of cover songs called Bills & Aches & Blues (40 Years of 4AD) that released in 2021.
To mark the 30th anniversary of Last Splash , The Breeders will play a special run of concerts in September and October during which they’ll perform the album in its entirety. They’ll be joined at those shows by Belly, Screaming Females and Horsegirl, depending on the date. The band is also opening a number of Foo Fighters shows and playing festivals.
Below, check out those tour dates and the reissue’s tracklist.

Former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll speaks out on reunion tour

Tony McCarroll, the former Oasis drummer who sued the Gallagher brothers after he was sacked from the band in 1995, has spoken out about the band’s reunion tour for the first time .
In a new interview, the drummer, who is often dubbed the “forgotten man of Oasis”, spoke about Noel and Liam Gallagher ’s reunion tour, which will see the band perform a run of 14 shows in the UK and Ireland next summer for the first time since they broke up 2009 .
McCarroll said he is not bitter about not being invited back for the reunion tour – or missing out on making a large fortune from it.
“I’m happy for Noel and Liam. Really happy for them,” he told MailOnline . “And I’m dead happy for the fans more than anything and for those generations who haven’t seen Oasis.”
McCarroll’s time with the band began in the late Eighties, when the band was performing under the moniker “The Rain” and Noel Gallagher hadn’t yet joined the band.
After they formed Oasis with Noel, the Manchester-born McCarroll continued as their drummer, performing on their first two albums, 1994’s Definitely Maybe and 1995’s What’s The Story (Morning Glory?) .
Tensions between McCarroll and Noel started to boil over as they repeatedly got into arguments, and Noel felt that the drummer wasn’t good enough to play new material.
In 1995, McCarroll was asked to leave and was replaced by Alan White, who continued with the band until 2004.
McCarroll then filed a lawsuit against Oasis , alleging that he was “unlawfully expelled from the partnership” and was therefore owed royalties of £18 m, as part of his five-album deal with Creation.

McCarroll eventually accepted an out-of-court settlement of £600,000 in March 1999 as well as giving up all claims for future royalties.
McCarroll revealed that his former bandmates had not yet been in touch with him about the reunion tour, telling the publication: “They haven’t reached out yet and to be honest I’m not holding my breath.”
“Would I consider being involved? I don’t know. At the end of the day I’m not the only ex-member left behind, so I’ll just crack on.”
“I haven’t made up my mind if I’m going to watch them play next year either. I was at their last ever gig in the UK at the V Festival. It’s weird and ironic that I was there at the first and last gig.”
“I think we all knew it was going to happen and it had to happen.”
“Whether it’s been a blag for 15 years I haven’t got a clue. They’re brothers at the end of the day – maybe their mum Peggy clashed their heads together and said ‘sort it out’.”
McCarroll said he wasn’t shocked when the band announced their comeback tour, and claimed he had predicted they would time it to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Definitely Maybe album.
Speaking to The Guardian in 1999 after his departure from the band, McCarroll said of his relationship with Noel: “I don’t have a bad thing to say about Noel Gallagher. He’s an a******* though.”
“We were in it together. I worked my b*****ks off to set up the group. I was a member of a super-group one day and unemployed the next. I was trying to work out how.”
However, McCarroll said he isn’t angry anymore, and that he would like to meet up with Noel again.
He said: “I last saw Liam just before Christmas and it was all hugs and kisses with him. We’re not on the phone to each other but the relationship is amicable, we’re all good.”
“I’ve not spoken to Noel in a while, but I’d love to see all of them again. It would be lovely if something nice happened, but I don’t expect anything. If it does, then great, nice ending to it all.”
In Supersonic , a 2016 documentary on the band , soundman Mark Coyle talked about how McCarroll had a hard time on the Definitely Maybe tour as tensions between the drummer and Gallagher continued to boil over.
“You’d have to feel for the boy. I’ll put my hand up with the rest of the band and say I gave him a terrible time as well,” he said.

Oasis reunion tour: is London ready? - The Standard podcast
Listen here on your chosen podcast platform.
After a 15-year hiatus the Gallagher brothers are finally getting the band back together .
Social media was set alight by the news on Tuesday morning as the band released the dates for their UK and Ireland tour , with further worldwide gigs being planned as well.
Starting in July 2025, the Britpop icons return to the stage with a tour that includes four dates at London’s Wembley stadium , a venue that’s been lit up by Taylor Swift this summer.
And with a fanbase chomping at the bit for a reunion for so long, it’s set to be another huge moment for the capital, and UK music on the whole.
On social media, rumours that Oasis could headline Glastonbury 2025 are rife, as fans discovered that the tour dates don’t clash with the Somerset festival.
But why have Noel and Liam chosen now to make their Oasis comeback? And is London ready for such an epic reunion?
In this episode of The Standard podcast, our Celebrity Correspondent Lisa McLoughlin and Executive News Editor Mark Wilkinson discuss the huge announcement, what it means for London and the UK music scene, and why the pair have decided to reunite now.

Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men 2024 Stage Three: Key Locations
Stage three of the 20th edition of britain’s biggest professional cycle race will challenge riders with a demanding 166 kilometre (103-mile) route from sheffield to barnsley..
South Yorkshire's most iconic and challenging climbs, putting the 18 competing teams to the test, and offering both riders and fans an exhilarating day of racing.
South Yorkshire has a strong, long-standing cycling tradition, having hosted prestigious races like a Tour de France stage finish in 2014 and four stages of the Tour de Yorkshire between 2016 and 2019. Barnsley and Sheffield, in particular, have been key players in the cycling scene, hosting multiple stages of these events and consistently welcoming rounds of the Lloyds Bank National Circuit Series.
Want to experience the thrill of stage three up close? We've handpicked the top spots to catch all the action and cheer on the riders as they tackle the region’s challenging terrain.
Stage three will commence in Sheffield, a city not visited by the race since 2006. Starting in the city centre, fans will be able to watch the preparations of teams on Tudor Square outside of the Crucible Theatre from 09:30, with all the riders being presented to the crowd team-by-team on the podium on Arundel Gate from 09:50, ahead of the stage start at 11:00.
King of the Mountains
Following two tough days of climbing, stage three won’t provide any respite for our riders with a gruelling ascent of over 2,200 metres, including three categorised King of the Mountains climbs, to contend. Whilst this might be a challenge for the peloton, fans will have the opportunity to see the world’s best riders tackle challenging ascents with a backdrop of stunning views of the Peak District and South Yorkshire.
The first King of the Mountains climb, Long Lane above Loxley, is a 2.6 kilometre ascent averaging almost 5.7%, with the riders due to top the climb at approximately 11:39. The village is a short distance as the crow flies from the race start and is set in the hills and greenery of Sheffield.
A short descent following Long Lane will take our riders on to the second climb at Jawbone Hill. This 1.6 kilometre climb averaging 9.9% was featured in the second stage of 2014 Tour de France and will be a mental and physical test. Fans can expect the riders to summit the climb at roughly 11:46.
The final categorised climb of the stage comes agonisingly close to the finish following a series of short climbs culminating at Hound Hill, a 1.4-kilometre ascent to Worsbrough Common averaging 5.6%. The summit of the climb, just four kilometres from the finish, is expected to play a crucial role in determining the stage winner so this could be a brilliant place to watch the action unfold on the run into the finish.
Intermediate Sprints
After the initial two climbs, the stage will settle down as it passes through Chapeltown, Wath upon Dearne, Swinton, and Maltby. Fans can watch the sole intermediate sprint in the picturesque market town of Tickhill, about 70 kilometres into the race, as the riders battle for valuable points.
Riders are expected to pass through Tickhill at approximately 12:55, before heading towards Doncaster, passing through Conisbrough and Denaby then taking a loop around the northern part of Barnsley, traversing Royston and Darton.
Barnsley will host the finish of the stage on County Way at The Seam, Barnsley’s digital campus, coming at the end of an 800 metre drag along Old Mill Lane, averaging a 7% incline
Alongside the finish line will be the fan zone with food, drink and entertainment, including a big screen for spectators in Barnsley to follow all of the action via the ITV4 coverage, while enjoying the events on offer. For those riding to the event on two wheels, secure bike parking is available.
How else can I watch the action?
For fans eager to see the cycling superstars compete live at the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men, exclusive premium hospitality packages are now available through Sportive Breaks here .
If you can’t make it to see the action in South Yorkshire in person, live flag to flag coverage will be available on ITV4 and ITVX in the UK, and around the world via other broadcasters, as well as a live stream on the British Cycling YouTube channel.

Scott McTominay sends emotional message to Manchester United after Napoli move
Share this with
Scott McTominay has spoken out after leaving boyhood club Manchester United for Napoli , making clear his love for the Red Devils but keen to take his new challenge ‘by storm ’.
The midfielder has completed a £25.7m move to the Serie A side , with fellow Scotland international Billy Gilmour also moving to Napoli from Brighton on deadline day.
Antonio Conte has significantly revamped his team with Premier League experience, also bringing in Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on a permanent transfer.
McTominay has certainly made the most emotional move, though, leaving the club he has been with since the age of five, making 255 appearances for the Red Devils.
‘Whenever my career is done, I’ll look back on this stage of my career with Manchester United . I’ve been here since I was five years old – with great gratitude,’ the 27-year-old told club media.
‘I’ve got so much love with this football club and I’m just so so happy I’ve been able to experience some of its history and be part of that as a young player coming through as well.
‘That’s primarily why I wanted them to send a message, just to send my love. I’ve absolutely loved every minute of being at this football club.
‘I’m just so grateful and thankful for the players, the coaching staff, managers and all the fans as well. I would not be in this position without them and my family.
‘I’m going on to another stage in my career now, in Italy, and I’m really looking forward to relishing that and there’s a different journey in my life that I’m going to go and embrace and take head-on.
‘If you’d said to me seven years ago coming into the first team that I’d be in this position today and had my family experienced some of our favourite moments at Old Trafford and away from home, I would have snapped your hand off.
‘I’ve absolutely loved it and I’m ready for a new challenge. I’m ready to go and embrace it and take it by storm. I’ve always follow the club and I want to see them win, I want them to do well.’
You’ve done us proud, Scott. ðï¸â¤ï¸ #MUFC pic.twitter.com/xYAJCUsVc5 — Manchester United (@ManUtd) August 30, 2024
McTominay came off the bench in both of Manchester United’s two Premier League games so far this season and will be hoping to get on the pitch as soon as possible in Italy.
Napoli host Parma in Serie A on Saturday night after a win and a loss in their opening league games of the campaign.
