Where to Watch Ethan Coen's Road Trip Comedy Drive-Away Dolls

Ethan Coen's comedy film  Drive - Away Dolls  is set to hit streaming on Peacock and Blu-ray this month.

Hop into the front seat and catch Ethan Coen’s solo directorial debut Drive-Away Dolls on Peacock soon. The film hit theaters back in February and is set to stream exclusively on Peacock later this month.  It will also be available on digital and Blue-ray to add to your own collection with exclusive bonus features, including a sit down with the cast and filmmakers. 

What is Drive-Away Dolls about?

The road trip comedy is written by Academy Award winner Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke. The story follows two best friends Jamie (Margaret Qualley), an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her shy friend Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan). To shake things up, they decide to go on a road trip to Tallahassee in search of a new beginning, but as comedies have it, things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way. 

The movie has a 63 percent rating on  Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised for the “odd-couple” chemistry between Qualley and Viswanathan, visuals, and direction. This was a passion project for Coen and Cooke that was 20 years in the making according to the press release. 

Who stars in Drive Away Dolls ?

Drive-Away Dolls features an all-star cast. The movie cast includes Qualley and Viswanathan, but also Beanie Feldstein as Sukie, Colman Domingo as the chief, Pedro Pascal as Santos, and Bill Camp as Curlie. Further rounding off the cast are Joey Slotnick as Arliss, C. J. Wilson as Flint, Annie Gonzalez as Carla, Josh Flitter, and Matt Damon as Senator Gary Channel.

Drive-Away Dolls arrives on Peacock on April 12 and digital and Blu-ray will be available on April 23.

LAST TIME OUT The Utes battled in a couple of matches during the first leg of their four-match streak. Facing Cal and Stanford, the Utes fell 4-0 in both despite having some promising play. HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU Utah Head Coach  Roeland Brateanu , reigning Pac-12 Coach of the Year, leads the Utes for his tenth season this spring. Under Brateanu's guidance, the Utah men claimed the Pac-12 Champions title as well as finished with a No. 1 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region last spring. Currently Brateanu boasts a 159-100 overall record.

THE UTES The Utah roster is comprised of seven returning players.  Geronimo Espin Busleiman  returns to compete for the Utes at the No. 1 spot after an impressive 2023 spring season.  Berk Bugarikj   also returns after he boasted an ITA No. 1 ranking in doubles for the Mountain Region last season.  Bruno Krenn  also returns for the Utes, claiming his first victory at the No. 2 spot in the season opener and taking a notable victory at the No. 1 spot in Utah's home match against LMU.

Twins  Jayson Blando  and  Michael Blando  return for their third season with the squad.  Geremia Rossi  makes a comeback to the team for the third time this spring season and taking the No. 3 doubles spot with partner  Dylan Applegate . This is Applegate's second season with the Utes.

Gianluca Citadini  is the single newcomer for the Utah team. The Argentinian national reached as high as No. 139 on the ITF Junior World Rankings and is a Grade 1 National Tournament Champion in Argentina. Citadini claimed his first regular-season collegiate win in the No. 5 spot at Utah's season opener and recently secured a win at the No. 4 spot in the home match against LMU.

SCOUTING THE SUNDEVILS The No. 20 Arizona State Sundevils are currently 13-8 overall on the season and 1-2 in Pac-12 action. The Sundevils' last match resulted in a 4-2 loss to No. 8 Arizona. Prior to this, the Sundevils had a 4-0 loss to No. 19 Stanford and a 4-2 loss to No. 28 UCLA. The last time the Utes and Sundevils met was during the 2023 season, finishing in a 4-2 win for Utah. The teams are 3-3 overall, and Utah posts a 1-2 record on the road against the Sundevils.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS          The No. 8 Arizona Wildcats currently hold an 18-3 record on the season and are 4-1 in Pac-12 play. The Wildcats most recently posted a 4-2 win against Arizona State and a close 4-3 loss to No. 33 Stanford. Prior to the Stanford match the Wildcats sat on an 11-match win streak. The last time the Utes rivaled the Wildcats was during the 2023 season, resulting in a 4-3 win for Utah. The teams are currently 8-8 overall, and the Utes hold a 2-7 record for road matches against the Wildcats.

UP NEXT Utah will close out the season with two home matches. The first will be against UCLA April 19 and the second against USC April 21.

Shohei Ohtani tag-out at home plate defines Dodgers' road-trip finale loss to Twins

Dino Ebel waved his arm. Shohei Ohtani churned his legs.

For a brief moment, as Ohtani barreled toward the plate, trying to score a tying run from first base, it seemed like the Dodgers ’ two-way star would make it.

Instead, in the defining moment of the team's 3-2 loss at Target Field on Wednesday, the Minnesota Twins' defense turned a picture-perfect relay play.

“That’s as clean as it gets,” said Ebel, the Dodgers’ third-base coach. “They made a perfect throw.”

When the juggernaut Dodgers (10-5) lose games this year, it likely will often be because they get beat on the margins.

Sometimes it might come down to an underwhelming starting pitching performance. Other times, a bullpen blunder or bang-bang play on the bases.

In Wednesday’s series finale, the Twins (4-6) capitalized upon all three — stressing Bobby Miller in a four-inning, two-run start; taking the lead on an Edouard Julien home run against reliever Alex Vesia in the fifth; then holding on through a couple late-game scares, none bigger than their tag-out of Ohtani in the top of the seventh.

After a walk by Austin Barnes led off the inning, consecutive fielder’s choice grounders by Mookie Betts and Ohtani left the speedy two-time MVP standing on first base.

When Freddie Freeman ripped a double into the right-field corner with two outs, it looked like Ohtani would score.

Given his speed — he raced 270 feet in just 10.89 seconds — and the awkward hop the ball took off the wall by the foul pole, both Ebel and manager Dave Roberts said waving Ohtani home was an easy decision.

“When I saw the bobble down in the corner … I said, ‘There it is,’” Ebel recounted.

“With two outs,” Roberts added, “you've got to make them make the play."

Make a play, the Twins did.

Right fielder Alex Kirilloff quickly recovered and fired a relay throw to infielder Carlos Correa. From just beyond the dirt in shallow right field, Correa then ripped a 92 mph throw to the plate.

Coupled with a perfectly executed tag by catcher Christian Vázquez, Ohtani — who declined through a Dodgers public relations staffer to talk to reporters postgame — was out by only a split-second.

“He aced a throw to home plate,” Roberts said of Correa. “If it was a little bit higher, he still would've been safe.”

There were other little ways the Dodgers lost Wednesday, in the finale of a 3-3 Midwest trip.

Miller grinded through his start, continually falling behind hitters because of poor fastball command and execution of his secondary pitches.

The right-hander did limit the damage to only two runs. And unlike last week, when he failed to get through two innings at Wrigley Field, he at least kept the Dodgers — who did their only scoring on a Teoscar Hernández RBI double in the first and Max Muncy solo home run in the fourth — in the game.

“Not super happy about the outing,” Miller said. “But with only two runs, given the amount of baserunners I had and amount of times I fell behind in the count, that gives me more confidence. Because I could easily have given in and made it a four- or five-run game.”

In the end, it didn’t matter.

Miller’s replacement in the fifth inning, Vesia, also gave up a home run to Julien — the left-hander’s second straight game getting taken deep.

“I missed my spot,” Vesia said, “and he got me.”

Down 3-2 at that point, the Dodgers failed to erase the deficit, finishing the day with a one for seven mark with runners in scoring position, eight runners left stranded — and one other that, in the game’s pivotal sequence, was thrown out at the plate.

“It was just a really good baseball play,” Roberts said. “Unfortunately, we were on the wrong end of that one."

Biden in Baltimore announces more federal assistance after bridge collapse

President Biden went to Baltimore Friday as a show of support after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge , announcing additional federal financial support to buoy the city's economy and commerce. 

The president surveyed the devastation from his helicopter, Marine One, Friday afternoon before receiving a briefing from local officials. The bridge fell on March 26 when the Dali, a Singapore-flagged container ship, struck one of the bridge's main supports. Six men who were working on the bridge fell into the Patapsco River below and were killed. Mr. Biden  met with their families Friday.

"I've come here to grieve with you," the president told Baltimore residents near where the bridge stood. 

He announced the first tranche of grants for dislocated workers to help replace jobs affected by the collapse. The federal government will also provide $8 million in grant funds for infrastructure improvements at Sparrows Point, the only port unaffected by the collapse. That will allow the port to receive more ships, the president said. He also urged businesses to keep workers in the area on their payroll. Mr. Biden said the full channel will reopen by the end of May. 

"We're coming back. We're coming back soon," the president promised, adding that the government was "going to move heaven and earth to rebuild this bridge as rapidly as humanly possible."

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, a Democrat, thanked Mr. Biden for his support. 

"We get knocked down, we stand back up, and we dust ourselves off, and we move forward," Moore said, as he stood next to the president. "That is what we do. And the people — and the people of Maryland are grateful to have a full partner in this work like President Biden." 

"President Biden might not be a Marylander by birth, but I tell ya, he's proven what it means to be Maryland tough and Baltimore strong," Moore said. 

At the president's briefing in Baltimore, Brigadier Gen. John Lloyd of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers described the situation as a "mangled mess" below the water. The president was shown a 3D underwater scan of the debris and wreckage. 

Mr. Biden says the federal government should pay for the entire cost of the bridge's reconstruction, which Congress would need to approve. 

It's not yet clear what that will cost, and some Republicans have expressed opposition to having the federal government foot the bill. The Biden administration has approved $60 million in immediate aid to help clean the wreckage. 

"My vow is that we will not rest ... until the cement has dried on the entirety of a new bridge," the president said Friday. 

White House Office of Management and Budget director Shalanda Young on Friday wrote to Congress and called on lawmakers to authorize "a 100 percent federal cost share for rebuilding the bridge." She reminded them that "Congress acted in a bipartisan manner within days" to provide similar funding after the 2007 collapse of the I-35W bridge collapse in Minnesota.

Next Tuesday, Maryland's congressional delegation will be meeting with Gov. Wes Moore and Young Tuesday to discuss emergency funding for Baltimore and its response to the  bridge  collapse.

A second temporary channel opened this week for some water traffic to proceed, but it will take years to rebuild the bridge, a key artery for the city, state, and Northeast corridor. The fall of the bridge has been a drag on the local economy, too. About 35,000 cars crossed the bridge each day, and those travelers will now need to take longer and more congested routes.
