SEE WHY OUR JEEP TOURS ARE THE BEST IN SEDONA!

Red Jeep

We had an awesome tour with Matt. Soldier's Pass was amazing with so much history behind it. We especially enjoyed climbing straight up the rock to see Devil's Kitchen and the Seven Pools. Matt knew everything about the whole area and the rock formations up above. If you are thinking of booking a tour, be sure to use Red Rock and ask for Matt as no one else could have done it better.

Took a Red Rocks Jeep Tour with “Little Deb” this afternoon! The scenery was awesome and she told some very good stories. Her family is 5th generation Arizonans and she is an authentic pioneer. We were whisked through town and then into the backcountry where the red rocks rose to the sky!! I loved the ride and the commentary! Hopped into her Jeep as she was the only woman guide. I loved hearing her perspective! Worth the money, highly recommend.

We booked a tour for the first afternoon/evening we were in Sedona and this excursion did not disappoint! The Canyons and Cowboys Tour was a fun introduction and history lesson to the beauty of Sedona! One of the best parts of our tour was our fantastic guide, Tim. He not only filled us in on the history of where we were but made us laugh and have a great time. Book this, you won’t be disappointed!

From the moment we walked into the office the staff were open and friendly. Our driver "Zane" was an interesting guy and told us a lot about the area as well as the geography and local plant life. We stopped at a couple of places where we could walk around and he offered to help us with pictures. On the drive back he also helped us plan the rest of our time in Sedona by giving some great suggestions for places to see before we left.

Morning tours are best for cooler temperatures and wildlife sightings.

Light, loose-fitting clothing, comfortable shoes with good traction, sunglasses and sunscreen are key; if visiting in the winter, bring a light jacket as well. Keep in mind that anything you wear will get dusty (so it's probably best to avoid white).

When are tours available?

We’re open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March through October and 7 a.m to 6 p.m. November through February, EVERY day of the year except Christmas Day, with scheduled tours hourly all day long.

How far are you from Phoenix?

We are 98 miles from Phoenix, with a drive time of about two hours. This is one of the most beautiful scenic drives in Arizona with the convenience of I-17. Elevation rises from 1,000 feet in Phoenix to 5,000 feet within two hours, with the flora and ecology changing every 15-20 miles; a SIGHT to be seen!

Along your way, you also pass by the Native American monuments of Montezuma’s Well and Montezuma’s Castle. It’s a spectacular, scenic journey prior to arriving at your majestic, magical destination in beautiful Sedona.

How far are you from Las Vegas?

We are approximately 275 miles from Las Vegas with a drive time of about 4.5 hours. This is a historic drive across Old Route 66 on I-40. You will have several choices of unique and colorful small towns where you may stop, shop and view on the way.

One extra special stop is Williams, AZ, home to Grand Canyon Railway, a Red Rock Western Jeep Partner. Your journey then takes you through historic Flagstaff, AZ and along 89A Oak Creek Canyon, home to the National State Park of Slide Rock.

How far are you from Flagstaff?

We are 26 miles from Flagstaff, with a drive time of about 40 minutes. This breathtaking voyage is on 89A through Oak Creek Canyon, a national treasure. You pass by the State Park of Slide Rock and drive over the Guinness World Book of Records “most curved bridge.” The scenic road takes you through a treeline of seasonal foliage and rock sculptures that will take your breath away.

Do I need to make a reservation?

We highly recommend an advanced reservation. We will give you a confirmation, and you are all set for your first choice of tour and time. We also take walk-in reservations and are happy to try and accommodate any need you may have, but can not guarantee availability. Come on in, though. We ALWAYS do our BEST to accommodate everyone if you’re flexible on when your tour leaves, and usually, it works out just PERFECTLY for you.

What should we wear?

Dress for the season; layers in winter and light clothing for summer. We also suggest comfortable traction tread shoes or tennis shoes, hats or visors, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Contact wearers may prefer to switch to glasses for the tour.

What should we bring?

Water bottle, comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, excitement, and a charged phone for all the picture-taking opportunities.

Can we bring lunch and eat it in the jeep?

You are welcome to bring food and drinks; however, we cannot allow glass containers or alcohol, and keep in mind that you will be on a bumpy ride.

Are smoking or alcoholic beverages allowed?

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed during tours. We operate primarily on protected U.S. Forest Service Lands and are very aware of our responsibility to protect our custodianship of these beautiful surroundings for generations to come and request cooperation and assistance from our customers in preserving our scenic wonderland.

How many people can go in one jeep?

We seat 5 or 6 plus your guide, depending on the trail you choose and the sizes of the people. With smaller children, you can keep your family of 6 together if that’s your desire.

Will there be other people on the jeep with my family?

No, it will just be your party! We only offer private tours to make you as comfortable as possible and make your experience as personal as possible.

What if I have a passenger who is pregnant or has a back problem or other injury?

We have On-Road Tours available for these exact situations! Try our Easy on the Asphalt or a gentle version of our Vortex Tour. We require a signed acknowledgment of risk from those who have serious back or neck problems, or other injuries. We do not take pregnant women under any circumstances.

Is there a minimum age for children?

Yes, the minimum age is three years old. Children under 16 years old must have an adult on the tour. We have car seats and booster seats available; please let us know in advance.

What is the temperature in the month that we are visiting?

It’s cool to sometimes cold in the winter. In the summer, dress in light layers and you’ll enjoy the primarily cool to balmy and sometimes comfortably warm weather in our open-air vehicles. The fresh outdoor air breezes are wonderful to take in any time of the year.

What happens if it rains?

The showers in our area are usually very brief, but we do carry rain ponchos in the jeeps. If it becomes too wet, we reserve the right to reschedule your tour.

Are there restrooms on the trails?

No, we will be in the U.S. National Forest. We have public restrooms behind our Jeep Tour Center and suggest you use those before leaving, and our guides are here to please if we need to accommodate someone’s needs.

What is the standard tip for our tour guide?

The customary 15% to 20% gratuity is always appreciated if you enjoyed your tour, but it is entirely up to you. Our guides are here for your pleasure as their first and foremost priority and it’s up to you to add any additional gratuity you feel is appropriate. Getting to Cozumel

To get to Cozumel you have a couple of options. The easiest way is to fly directly into Cozumel International Airport (CZM). Many major airlines offer flights to Cozumel from various cities in the United States and other countries. Once you arrive at the airport, you can easily reach your destination on the island by shuttle .

Another option is to fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN), which is a popular gateway to the region. From Cancun, you’ll need to make your way to Playa del Carmen , which is about an hour’s drive south of Cancun. There are several transportation options available, including private shuttles , taxis, and public buses (ADO) .

Once you reach Playa del Carmen , you can catch a ferry to Cozumel. The ferry ride takes approximately 45 minutes, and there are multiple departures throughout the day. The ferry companies operating this route include Ultramar and Winjet. The tickets can be purchased at the ferry terminal or online in advance.

If you’re vacationing in Playa del Carmen, the ferry makes it easy to take a day trip over to Cozumel for some snorkeling .

When to Visit Cozumel

The best time to visit Cozumel for snorkeling is during the dry season, which typically runs from November to April. During this time, the weather is generally sunny and the water visibility is at its best. The water temperature is also quite comfortable, ranging from 77°F (25°C) to 82°F (28°C).

However, it’s worth noting that Cozumel can be quite busy with tourists during the peak season, which is from December to February. If you prefer a quieter experience, visiting in the shoulder seasons of November or April may be a good option.

I’ve snorkeled year-round in Cozumel and it’s nearly always wonderful. Occasionally if a storm comes through the water will be a bit cloudy but it clears up quickly.

The Mesoamerican Reef System

The Mesoamerican Reef system is the second-largest barrier reef in the world and stretches over 1,000 kilometers along the coasts of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.

It is a major attraction for snorkelers in Cozumel due to its incredible biodiversity and vibrant coral formations. Snorkeling in Cozumel allows you to explore a small portion of this magnificent reef system , which is home to over 500 species of fish and 65 species of coral.

The crystal-clear waters of Cozumel provide excellent visibility, making it an ideal destination for snorkelers of all skill levels.

Tips For Snorkeling In Cozumel

  • Choose the right location: Cozumel offers numerous snorkeling spots, so it’s important to choose the right one based on your skill level and preferences. By taking a snorkel tour, you’ll be sure to go to a great spot.
  • Bring your own gear: While there are plenty of places to rent snorkeling gear in Cozumel if you have your own equipment, it’s always best to bring it along. This way, you can ensure a proper fit and have gear that you’re comfortable with.
  • If you’re going to be snorkeling a few times on your trip, buying your own equipment may be cheaper than renting. I like this set . It’s not too expensive but really good quality.
  • Use a rash guard : Even with sunscreen, your skin can quickly burn. Wear a rash guard to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Apply sunscreen: Make sure to choose reef-safe sunscreen to minimize any potential damage to the coral reefs in case you end up back in the water.
  • Respect the marine life: Cozumel is home to a diverse range of marine life, including colorful fish, turtles, and coral reefs. It’s important to respect their habitat and avoid touching or disturbing them. Remember, you’re a guest in their environment.
  • Stay hydrated: Snorkeling can be physically demanding, so it’s important to stay hydrated. Bring along a refillable water bottle and drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after your snorkeling adventure.
  • Follow local regulations: Cozumel has specific regulations in place to protect its marine ecosystem. Make sure to follow any guidelines or restrictions set by the local authorities to help preserve the reef system for future generations.

Responsible Snorkeling in Cozumel

Responsible snorkeling in Cozumel is important to ensure the preservation of the marine ecosystem. Here are some tips for snorkeling responsibly:

  • Respect the marine life: Avoid touching or disturbing the coral reefs and marine animals. Keep a safe distance and observe them from afar.
  • Use reef-safe sunscreen : Regular sunscreen can contain harmful chemicals that can damage coral reefs. Opt for reef-safe sunscreen that is free of oxybenzone and octinoxate.
  • Do not feed the fish: Feeding fish can disrupt their natural feeding patterns and can lead to dependency on humans for food. Let them find their own food sources.
  • Do not collect souvenirs: It is illegal to collect or remove any marine life or coral from the reefs in Cozumel. Leave everything as you found it to preserve the ecosystem.
  • Practice good buoyancy control: Avoid touching or standing on the coral reefs as this can cause damage. Maintain good buoyancy control and swim with a relaxed and gentle kick.

By snorkeling responsibly, you can help protect the beautiful marine life and coral reefs in Cozumel for future generations to enjoy.

What to Bring for Snorkeling in Cozumel

Bringing your own snorkel gear means that the mask will fit right and the snorkel hasn’t been in hundreds of mouths. (Yes, they disinfect them, but still … ick.)

Also, all snorkels are not created equal. Some let more water in through the top and into your mouth. It’s much better to have a snorkel designed to decrease water intake.

If you want to bring your own snorkel gear, here’s what you need:

Snorkel, mask, and fins. This is a good mid-range set with a dry-top snorkel .

Tours will provide life jackets on request. If you’re going to be snorkeling on your own, this is a good compact, inflatable snorkel vest :

A rash guard is great for protecting your skin from the sun . It will also help you use less sunscreen.

Reef-safe sunscreen will keep you and the coral protected.

Water shoes will protect your feet from rocky beaches. They’re also great for slippery boat docks.

Cozumel’s underwater world is an absolute paradise. Snorkeling in the warm Caribbean Sea is an experience that never gets old. Trust me on this… I live here and I would snorkel every single day if I could.

By taking a snorkeling tour you’ll make sure you see the best snorkel sites. The guides are also great at finding amazing sea life.

Simone Biles wants to turn her post-Olympic tour into a celebration. The guys are coming along too

Gymnastics star simone biles is taking her show on the road following the paris olympics.

Simone Biles is bringing back her Gold Over America Tour this fall, with a twist.

This time, the guys are invited too.

The decision to include the men on the 30-city tour that starts in Southern California on Sept. 17 and ends in Detroit on Nov. 3 was intentional. Biles, who will try to build on her haul of seven Olympic medals this summer in Paris, wanted to broaden the show.

“I think the first time we were very driven on female-forward cast and having the beauty in that and knowing that we can put on a show without the guys and just having the girls being in their feminine power and being beautiful and being the stars,” Biles said ahead of the tour's announcement on Thursday. “But this time around we’re like ‘OK, that worked but let’s do it a little bit differently, let’s invite the men.’”

That includes Fred Richard, 20, who became the first American man to medal in the all-around at the world championships since 2010 when he earned bronze in Belgium last fall.

Richard, who is eyeing making his first Olympic team, has made it his mission to help make men's gymnastics relevant in a country where the women have commanded much of the attention — and much of the international success — for decades.

The sophomore at Michigan has cultivated an avid following on social media thanks to an ability to make men's gymnastics look both fun and relatable, a somewhat difficult needle to thread.

“The goal is to get as many eyes on men’s gymnastics side as possible and have more people understand who we are and what we do," Richard said. “The dream is that someone walks down the street one day and someone says ‘Name a male gymnast’ and they actually name a male gymnast.”

Working with the most decorated gymnast in the history of the sport for a couple of months might help. Richard called Biles a “role model." She sees in Richard someone who has a unique ability to connect with an audience.

“I think it gets really intimate when you get on Fred’s platform, just because how he talks to you, the kind of stuff that he puts out is really interesting," Biles said. “I think it’ll bring a whole different take.”

The rest of the men's group won't be determined until after the run-up to the Paris Olympics.

“(The men) also bring a little bit, in the best way, sex appeal,” Biles said. “I think that’s very interesting and it brings a different type of crowd too. It’s like they can do really cool tricks with little to no effort without training and so I think it’ll be a beautiful show.”

The women joining Biles include 2020 Tokyo Olympic teammate Jordan Chiles and 2020 Olympic floor exercise champion Jade Carey, with the rest of the roster to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Biles described the show as a “celebration" of gymnastics, though a celebration with decidedly personal elements.

She used the 2021 tour to help promote the importance of prioritizing mental health, a sometimes taboo subject Biles brought out into the open when she removed herself from multiple competitions at the Tokyo Games while battling " the twisties ."

“Obviously we want to bring the fun, we want to bring like the exhilarating feeling, we want to bring the golden side out of everybody but those touchy subjects or whatever we want to touch on, those will come whenever people get a chance to tell their stories at the Olympics,” she said.

The show will also incorporate rhythmic gymnastics and Biles said there was even talk about having “SlamBall” players — think basketball on trampolines — be part of the show. All with the idea of bringing as many people into the tent as possible.

The 27-year-old laughed when asked if this would be her last time as an active participant in the tour. She just celebrated her first anniversary with Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens and said she’s not thinking much long-term beyond 2024.

“I would never say never and I think that would be amazing to (do this) after every Olympic cycle,” she said. “I think that would be a beautiful thing. But right now I can’t tell you yes or no. Like no definitive answers because I don’t know what life will look like in the next few years to come.”
