Treasure Trove of Historic and Prehistoric Interest

Set against a dramatic backdrop of sandstone cliffs, the charming Victorian town of Shanklin features a wide sandy beach lined with traditional beach huts. The traditional seaside part of town blends into the picturesque thatched cottages of Shanklin Old Town at the head of the impressive Shanklin Chine - a stunning gorge with rare plants and a delightful waterfall.

Sandown is the island’s principal resort and offers a wealth of entertainment. Sandown Bay is the largest on the island and offers a long, safe, sandy beach framed at either end by stunning white cliffs contrasting with the rich blue sea. Here you can enjoy a walk along the level promenade, explore its Victorian pier or head to the cliff-top path for a wonderful walk, with panoramic views of the bay.

Osborne House

Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s family home, is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the Isle of Wight. The house was built between 1845 and 1851 for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a summer home and rural retreat. When Queen Victoria first visited Osborne House she could not imagine a prettier spot than this opulent seaside palace set amidst truly sumptuous gardens.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway

Take a journey back in time on board beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages pulled by the oldest locomotive at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Alum Bay and The Needles

Alum Bay is one of the most picturesque beaches on the Isle of Wight. which is famous for its multi-coloured sand cliffs and the stunning turquoise waters.
