Their shuttlebays were reminiscent of the old Constitution -class shuttlebays, having a more rounded opening door. They also featured a longer "runway" for shuttles as they entered and exited the ship.

All known Luna -class starships were named after moons . The first production lot was named after moons in the Sol system . ( TTN novel : Taking Wing )

All Reconnaissance science vessels (RSV) classes were modular and their components interchangeable between them. All RSV starship classes featured a removable mission pod . ( STO - Klingon War mission : " Welcome to Earth Spacedock ")

In the mirror universe , the Luna -class was a design in use by the Terran Empire . Imperial Starfleet categorized the Luna -class as a deep space science vessel (DSSV). When the Tholian Assembly accessed alternate timelines in the Azure Nebula , Federation Starfleet gained access to the Luna -class DSSV and added it to its ranks. ( STO video game : Legacy of Romulus )

In the 25th century, the design of the Luna -class reconnaissance science vessel allowed its commanding officer to choose from different designs of livery, which could be modified further at starbases . These options were designated Type 1-5 and Veteran. ( STO - Klingon War mission : " Welcome to Earth Spacedock ")

Furthermore, the installation of deflector shields from specific factions modified the hull appearance, including shields from the Reman Resistance , the Breen Confederacy and the Dominion . ( STO missions : " Coliseum ", " Cold Storage ", " Boldly They Rode ")

In January 2377 , Ezri Dax considered applying for a post on a Luna class vessel, although, as Benjamin Sisko told her, it would be several years before they became operational. ( DS9 novel : Warpath )

After the Borg Invasion of 2381 , President Nanietta Bacco promised that more Luna -class ships would be built and that exploration would continue in the face of the recent disaster. ( ST - Destiny novel : Lost Souls )

HISTORY [ edit ]

The Luna-class is a type of starship that came into service for Starfleet in the late 24th century.

star trek luna 5

The Luna-class starship was designed by Dr. Xin Ra-Havreii, of Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars, and initially conceived for scientific exploration of the Gamma Quadrant following the discovery of the Bajoran Wormhole. The project was sidelined by the impending threat from the Dominion, then restarted following the end of the Dominion War.

The Luna-class starships arethe top of the line in Starfleet's scientific and exploratory pursuits on behalf of the United Federation of Planets. Each had an average crew of the 350 individuals and was approximately 450 meters long. Their shuttlebays were reminiscent of the old Constitution-class shuttlebays, having a more rounded opening door. They also featured a longer "runway" for shuttles as they entered and exited the ship.

The first production run of Luna-class starships were all named after moons, with first batch named after moons in the Sol system. Although subsequent runs also featured a large number of ships named for moons other names also began to be used as well.

The Luna-class ship features a sensor pod just above the back of the saucer section that can be accessed via turbo lift. It is comprised of at least two decks that has more advanced sensor nets and data collection grids that were better than even the most advanced space telescope employed by the Federation for its time. The sensor pod itself could be manned by up to 8 crewman at a time, and even included a special TOV suit that allowed a person to control and manipulate probes, giving them a "front row seat" to the action as it were.

star trek luna 5

One of the features of the Luna-class was the highly adaptable life support systems in place throughout the ship, including unprecedented customisation of crew quarters. This allowed the crew roster to include a far greater diversity than most Starfleet vessels, whose life support systems usually mean ships were crewed dominantly by one race only.

The First Descendant: Best Freyna Build (Weapons, Module, & Abilities)

The first descendant: best viessa build (weapons, module, & abilities), the first descendant: how luna compares to other characters - playstyle, skills, and synergies, quick links, how to unlock luna, all luna skills & abilities, best modules for luna, best weapons for luna, other equipment for luna.

Luna is an excellent support character in The First Descendant and can give her team a variety of buffs to get inspiration from her allies. Her skills are much like Bards's in other types of RPGs in that she can inspire and trigger enhanced skills. She can be hard to manage if you are playing solo, but playing in multiplayer can make her a vital member on your side.

There are many characters in The First Descendant , but they all have different skills and powers. Finding the right Mods and Weapons for each can be a tall task, but luckily, there are many different options to maximize the potential of your Descendant. Luna is a great Support character with no elemental bonuses, which can give out strong buffs and raise her team's morale.

How To Unlock Ultimate Valby In The First Descendant

Ultimate Valby is a strong character you can unlock in The First Descendant, but only when you have enough Gold and the right items to research them.

Research & Caliber

Luna does not have an Ultimate form in The First Descendant , so players do not have to worry about unlocking a second form of her. However, she is a brand new character in the game, so players will likely not have unlocked her at this point in time. To get her, you will have to farm a fair amount of materials and spend a lot of time and money on research. Alternatively, she can be bought for 900 Caliber in The First Descendant store .

To get these items fast, check out the above farming video by YouTuber DPJ .

How To Utilize Them Well

Luna’s skills are pretty unique in that you must hit the notes to fill up the meter and use them well. Each of them luckily has set patterns assigned to it with a consistent BPM, so if you hit the note, you will be able to transition between skills and get the buffs . This is important to get right, and you will also want to know how to sequence your skills to make the most of them.

Generally speaking, you want to transition between the time-based skills at the right moment . For instance, you could start with the Relaxing Act, move into the Exciting Act, and end with the Cheerful Act. Spending your Inspiration Gauge at the right moment is also crucial, as you will want to do so at critical times, such as when a boss in The First Descendant is downed. Luna can be very difficult to play solo or with a non-communicative team , so try to find a team that can communicate what they are planning and when you can unleash your skills.

To create the best Freyna build in the First Descendant, utilize weapons and Modules that enhance her Toxic-based status effects and abilities.

You also want to stay mobile and continue to rotate between Acts . Exciting and Relaxing are going to be the ones you rotate between the most, with a hopefully Enhanced Cheerful Act coming in at the end to save the day since it has the longest cooldown but with a big payout. This is especially helpful for teammates with longer cooldowns , as it completely resets their cooldowns when triggered.

To see how these skills interact, note the video by Eefann above. Each of these buffs has a range of various modifiers depending on how you hit the Notes and what other equipment you have.

Support & DPS Builds

There are two main schools of thought with Luna: Support and DPS . Support is going to be stronger for her overall, but it requires mostly cooperative teammates and some other factors as well. To have a good DPS build, you will want to focus on critical hits and increasing your output. This will be focused on your Noise Surge module in Slot 1 , which turns your support-based skills into offensive AOE variants instead.

This group of Modules in The First Descendant will best suit Luna as a DPS role. It is based on YouTuber Moxsy ’s suggestions.

However, if you want to make her into the Ultimate Support, you should check out KnightmareFrame’s build . It is focused around Nimble Footsteps instead, which consistently allows you to strengthen your allies and give MP-enhanced buffs. You will get a boosted Movement Speed and a larger Skill Range . Some of the other Modules are the same, so the ones that are different are listed down below:

You will want to run this build with teammates for maximum effect . Notably, as long as you are hitting each Note, your cooldowns matter less, and you should be focused on helping others with theirs.

The thing about Luna is that she could, for the most part , care less about what weapons she was running . Mainly, you want to bring weapons that can get you out of a bad situation if need be. The main ones recommended are Thunder Cage for many small enemies and a higher DPS, while you will probably want Afterglow Sword for bosses .

Turn Viessa into the ultimate frost queen in The First Descendant by giving her the best Modules, Equipment, and Weapons to emphasize her ice powers.

You will want whatever weapon you have to have the Expanded Weapon Charge module to make your Stage Presence even better. You are going to be looking for very similar rolls on both weapons , shown in the list below:

Thunder Cage & Afterglow Sword Substats:

  • Round Per Magazine
  • Bonus Firearm ATK Colossus (vs. Colossus)
  • Firearm ATK
  • Firearm Critical Rate

The First Descendant’s recent update brought a new character to the game – Luna. Here’s an overview of her playstyle, skills, synergies, and more.

Reactor & External Components

If you are going solo, you will want the Materialized Singularity Reactor with the Sonic External Component set . This will allow you to boost your skills even higher, thus getting a bigger buff altogether for your DPS, and the Sonic set will give you a multitude of increased defenses and resistances to keep you alive and well. Keeping her survivability high is key.

If you are going full Support, you will want the Tech Reactor called the Materialized Mechanics Reactor . This gives you a lot more Skill Power and a fairly big boost to your Skill Power Boost ratio. You will want to roll for Skill Effect Range and Additional Skill ATK when Attacking Colossus. You may not want the full set of External Components for this one, though. If you want one full set, the Annihilation set is where to go .

However, you may want to only use the Auxiliary Power and Processor from Annihilation and use the Bravery Senor and Memory Component . Whatever Sensor you use, you will want to get MP Recovery in Combat on it, and for the others, you will be looking for other types of buffs to MP and DEF. And that is all you need to know about playing Luna in The First Descendant .

'Star Trek: Lower Decks' Season 5 trailer launches the crew on one last wacky mission (video)

Paramount+'s animated series is ending, but there's time for a final lap around the galaxy.

Official Teaser Trailer | Star Trek: Lower Decks - Season 5 | StarTrek.com - YouTube

Parting is such sweet sorrow, and that'll certainly be the case when Paramount+'s "Star Trek: Lower Decks " rolls out its fifth and final season starting on Oct. 24, 2024. We'll totally miss "Lower Decks'" zany outer space hilarity enjoyed for the past four seasons and its colorful cast of low-ranking ensigns aboard the U.S.S. Cerritos.

This past weekend during Paramount's informative " Star Trek " Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the streaming service not only revealed an extended clip for "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" Season 3 and a teaser for the "Star Trek" TV movie, " Section 31 ," but also shared the first trailer for "Star Trek: Lower Decks" Season 5.

In attendance for the SDCC Q&A were vocal cast members Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Jerry O'Connell alongside " Star Trek: Lower Decks "' executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Mike McMahan.

Last season began with Boimler, Mariner, Tendi, and their new Vulcan pal T'Lyn being awarded a much-deserved promotion to Lieutenants Junior Grade and finished up with them being hailed as heroes for thwarting Nick Locarno's rogue "Nova Fleet" plans. However, part of the gang is gone as Tendi decided to leave Starfleet and return home to Orion to lord over her family's crime syndicate, but it appears that there's a reunion afoot according to this initial series-ending trailer.

A green-skinned woman pilots a pirate spaceship

Here's the official synopsis:

"In season five of 'Star Trek: Lower Decks,' the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos is tasked with closing 'space potholes' – subspace rifts which are causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. Pothole duty would be easy for Jr. Officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendi and Rutherford...if they didn't also have to deal with an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and scariest of all: their own career aspirations. This upcoming season on Paramount+ is a celebration of this underdog crew who are dangerously close to being promoted out of the lower decks and into strange new Starfleet roles."

This trailer's bittersweet farewell starts with a tribute to the last four seasons before delivering glimpses of Tendi's lawless life as a cosmic pirate, the U.S.S. Cerritos stumbling across an inter-dimensional portal (again!) complete with an alt-universe version of their ship and crew, a Post-scarce society tossing away valuables, shrimp cocktails, and an electrifying Klingon encounter.

In related "Star Trek" news also shared with Hall H attendees at SDCC, "Lower Decks'" Justin Simien and Tawny Newsome are developing a live-action "Star Trek" comedy, the first of its kind. So far, what's known is that the Paramount+ project will be a 30-minute show set in the 25th century where "Federation outsiders serving a gleaming resort planet find out their day-to-day exploits are being broadcast to the entire quadrant." No casting or release dates were revealed, but stay tuned!

‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Team Say Although the Show Will End With Season 5, Audiences Will Feel Like They Could ‘Keep Telling These Stories’

Mike McMahan, Tawny Newsome, Noel Wells and Jerry O'Connell at the Variety Comic-Con Studio, Presented by Google TV held at the Hardrock Hotel on July 27, 2024 in San Diego, California.

Across five seasons of the Paramount+ animated series “ Star Trek: Lower Decks ,” the voice cast got so close that costar Jerry O’Connell invited his fellow actors and “Lower Decks” creator Mike McMahan to his birthday party — where he read them a poem dedicated to their friendships.

“He had a printed-out set of papers — plural — that he read from,” joked McMahan.

“I love ‘Lower Decks,’ we’re a family,” O’Connell said. “And I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my cast.”

Bungie layoffs highlight post-m&a issues for gaming industry as its unions react, where to buy tickets for broadway's buzziest productions: 'oh, mary,' 'job,' ‘stereophonic' and more.

“Star Trek: Lower Decks” follows the supporting crew of one of Starfleet’s most insignificant starships, the U.S.S Cerritos. Coincidentally, the first time O’Connell and Newsome met was at Comic-Con to unveil the first season of “Lower Decks,” an announcement which, according to O’Connell, was not received as well as they hoped.

“I met Tawny here at Comic-Con exactly five years ago when we announced the show…it was not thunderous applause,” said O’Connell. “It was rough announcing it.”

“It was a confused Hall H,” added McMahan.

Four years and two Emmy nominations later, “Lower Decks” is heading towards its series finale. Although it may seem natural for the show to end when the “Lower Decks” crew is inevitably promoted to higher ranks, McMahan feels he left the show in a place where the character’s stories could keep going.

“You do get to see everybody grow up in Season 5,” McMahan said. “To me, there isn’t a natural end to being ‘Lower Decks’ because I feel like I am still learning stuff all the time. So yes, the characters do go through a change this season, but ultimately where we end, you don’t feel like they aren’t still ‘Lower Decks’ and that we couldn’t keep telling those kinds of stories.”

With almost six decades of lore to pull from, fans can expect plenty of references to past “Star Trek” series in Season 5. Newsome teased the return of a “Star Trek” icon in the new season in an unexpected and rather grotesque way.

“There is a piece of a legacy character, and Noël’s character, Tendi, gets to spend a lot of time with them,” McMahan added. “There is a running theme across the season of these space potholes that the U.S.S Cerritos is closing that are these rifts in space. We had been given enough of a heads up that this could potentially be our final season, and so I suddenly opened up the cupboard of ideas and was like, ‘Alright, what are some mechanics to get all sorts of crazy things to happen in this season?'”

The Lunar colonies on Earth 's moon Luna were, along with Utopia Planitia on Mars and a few asteroid colonies , the first attempts by Humans at colonizing space. One of the earliest settlements, New Berlin , was built between 2063 and 2069 . ( ENT : " Terra Nova "; Star Trek: First Contact )

Star Trek: Star Charts placed the founding of the first Lunar Colony in 2039 . (p. 32)

In the mirror universe the Lunar colonies were bombarded by an Emmette -type starship sometime before the NX-class of starships came into use. ( Opening credits, ENT : " In a Mirror, Darkly ", " In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II ")

The Lunar colonies were also prominently featured in the opening credits of Star Trek: Enterprise .

In the 22nd century , Lunar One Colony was the largest of all Lunar colonies. The Orpheus Mining Complex was another settlement on Luna during the 22nd century. ( ENT : " Zero Hour ", " Demons ")

By 2373 , the population was approximately fifty million. ( Star Trek: First Contact )

Among the Humans born on the Lunar colonies were Beverly Crusher and Dorian Collins . ( TNG : " Conundrum "; DS9 : " Valiant "). People born or living on the Lunar colonies were often called Lunar schooners by Earth -based Humans. ( DS9 : " Valiant ")
